Perhaps a Hot Take: I don't have anything against JayVik as a ship, but the amount of people in the fandom who use it as an opportunity to be openly racist and misogynistic towards Mel and Sky, and to feminize/infantilize Viktor as a disabled man make it REALLY hard to enjoy

Maybe it is my bi aroace brain playing tricks on me but I find it so hard to grasp the concept of only liking “one gender”. What do you mean I have to pick? What do you mean by “gender”? Is it edible?

Some belligerent guy at Eden’s talking shit about how all the Foxes are gay—
When a drunk Nicky gasps in offense, throws an arm around Kevin’s neck to yank him down into a headlock of a side hug, slurring, “Heyyy we’re not ALL gay, asshole! Kevin’s only HALF!”

Imagine being an openly gay show runner creating a remake of Teen Wolf (1985) and noticing the obvious queer coding of Stiles’s character and therefore writing Stiles in the remake as queer coded and then when people realize that, “hey, he’s obviously queer coded and you’ve got queer characters in your show, why not make Stiles bi?” and the actor who plays Stiles is totally willing to do it, you try to gaslight a bunch of people into believing that Stiles is a Heterosexual but continue to queer bait in the show’s subtext so as to not lose your queer audience and manage to bully the largest part of the fandom enough that they roast you off Twitter and split off from you and manage to be more popular and relevant online than the show itself.

I actually do think like the basis of the argument biphobes use about bi people only facing homophobia and never facing any backlash when we are single or in an m/f relationship is because they just fundamentally do not understand what bisexuality actually is and don't care to correct that.
Bi people have been screaming forever about how we aren't half and half anything, we are an entire new identity based on being attracted to multiple genders, but the queer biphobe doesn't believe that. They see us as half gay and half straight. Without even realizing it they are openly admitting they do not listen to bi people when we talk about our identity and then they weaponize their willful ignorance to harm AND silence us at the same time.
They do not conceptualize us as a new identity, we're basically just a fucking math problem to them(and since these types also tend to lean aphobic and truscum and radfem they think of all oppression like a math problem, but I digress). Like their logic goes: no one hates people in straight relationships but they do hate gay ones, and gay people obviously would never hate another gay person for being gay just like straight people would never hate you for being straight, so you are clearly only experiencing homophobia and maybe some misogyny and that ONLY comes from cishet people, any "bigotry" coming from the queer community is just you being a whiny homophobic loser with passing privilege who is pretending to be oppressed and mad gay people don't want to date you because again, you can only be hated for your gay half and gay people don't(or can't) hate other gay people for being gay.
But there's no math to do. You can't do math on oppression anyway, but bi people are not half anything. Again, we are a whole new identity in of itself. "Half gay and half straight" is not the definition we use, we have almost NEVER used it except in like, jokes and memes and shit. The way we define ourselves is as people who expirience attraction to two or more genders, and that doesn't even always mean being attracted to both men and women! There are loads of genders, bi doesn't inherently mean men and women and thus "half gay half straight" can NEVER be a definition that encompasses all of us. And you'd KNOW that if you actually LISTENED to us.
We are hated because our society still expects people to be attracted to one gender. Even in monosexual queer spaces there is the expectation that you only like women or only like men or only like nonbinary/genderqueer people, you HAVE to pick one. Refusing is deviation from the norm and is punished with violence and exclusion and bigotry from BOTH sides. And until biphobes can finally get their heads out of their asses and actually LISTEN to us when we do something as basic as DEFINE WHO WE ARE ON OUR OWN TERMS WITH OUR OWN LANGUAGE they will never be able to accept the existence of biphobia or their ability to take part in it.
They don't believe it exists because deep down, they don't believe bi people exist. We're just two identities in a trenchcoat, that can be easily divided with simple oppression math. We are not whole people with a whole new identity, we're a gay person and a straight person trapped in the same body, pretending to be something we aren't, facing "half" the oppression, if that(OR we're really just a confused gay or straight person who will figure it out eventually and give up that "bi" nonsense). And they don't care if they're wrong because that would mean they're bigoted and doing harm and they can't possibly accept that they are capable of being bigoted and causing harm, especially to other queer people.
Anyway, listen to bi and other multisexual people when we talk about our identities and problems. It's not hard. We're begging for people to take us and our problems seriously instead of pretending we don't exist or trying to fit us into a framework that cannot fully express our existence and acting like that means we can't be oppressed for being attracted to multiple genders. And tbh I don't think that being biphobic is something you can't come back from, but you have to sit down, shut up, LISTEN TO US, realize that you don't fully understand what you're talking about, accept that you have held harmful beliefs, and then work to be better.
It's hard, but bi people need allies. So please, at the very least just listen to us when we tell you who we are and what we go through. Just listen.

happy bisexual day to those who celebrate
#dragalia lost#dragalia#orion#orion dragalia#I don't usually cross reference JP translations for Dragalia stuff but I was curious if some of the Really Gay Lines in English were#the same in the original text. Turns out some of them weren't#which just makes the localization funnier#Like. Grain of salt because I don't speak Japanese and rely on machine translations and friends who speak the language#But the really sus “receiving end” line was originally just. “Haha it'd be nice to be the one getting escorted for once :)”#I'm sure it's not an entirely indulgent translation but. Phrasing!!!#then there's the infamous(?) “I seek to have a relationship with everyone here!” where in JP it's clearer that by “everyone”#Orion means “every woman” and not literally “everyone”#bc JP Elly says “In your case won't just any woman do?” while in EN she just calls him shameless LOL#there's a few more#like the scene where Orion says “You're the first man I've ever wanted to protect” and Euden says “damn bro I thought you weren't gay?”#and he responds calmly like “You really are slow when it comes to these matters! I'm just saying you're more charming than you know.”#it's a letdown but it's kinda coy#meanwhile since JP has some extra animations#namely Orion jumping in shock and making a cringing face before responding#the No Homo vibe is off the charts 😭😭😭#and then theres that xmas seasonal line that's about picking up women ...when voices are set to JP.#The EN line is about being broke. For some reason.#But even with all that it's not like there's no gay subtext in JP Orion's dialogue. It's just deeply funny how the EN localizers went#Yup. This one. Bisexual. We gotta make it more obvious.

Plot Synopsis
Just Your Local Bisexual Disaster is a 2022 teen novel by Chicana author Andrea Mosqueda. It follows the trials and tribulations of Magdalena "Maggie" Gonzalez, a teenaged girl living in Rio Grande Valley in Texas. Although she's only a high schooler, her love life has always been a mess. She had her first kiss in middle school with a girl, she dated her ex-boyfriend Matthew on and off for several years, and she's had feelings for her female best friend Amanda that she's always tried to ignore. Not to mention, the new girl in school, Dani, is also queer and is catching Maggie's eye, too. Even though Matthew has a new girlfriend, he's still texting and hanging out with Maggie. Even though Amanda says she's straight, she keeps acting in ways that make Maggie believe there's something more. And even though she's just getting to know Dani, Maggie hits it off with her right away.
Desperately confused by her feelings for all three people, she confides in her best guy friend, Jordan. He comes up with an idea that Maggie should pretend to date each person in her head to decide which one she should officially go after. This is a great idea, and Maggie leverages this for a school project--a photography journal documenting her feelings for each person as she hangs out with each of them throughout the 12-week semester. This should ultimately help her decide which person is right for her--and, most importantly, which person she should ask to be her date for her little sister's quinceañera.
Review
Just Your Local Bisexual Disaster is a lighthearted romance novel, complete with all the twists and turns you'd expect from a high school love triangle (or, love square, since there's four people involved). Andrea Mosqueda does a wonderful job of navigating the complexities of high school relationships. Even though they can seem trivial to adults, high school teens are often trying on romance and exploring their sexuality for the first time, which can have significant emotional consequences that they need to learn how to reconcile. This novel also touches on alternative music and the emo/scene subculture that goes along with it--the bands, the outfits, the piercings, the hairdye, the tattoos. It also describes a bit of what it's like living in a small border town in the American Southwest, and the pressure teens can feel to "escape" their community and bring their family with them. Through this novel, teens are sue to relate to all the confusing feelings that come up in high school--from romance to academics and everything in between.

Does Omar ever struggle with his feelings about Morgan, his sexuality and being Muslim? Asking as a queer Muslim myself
Hello friend!
From one queer Muslim to another, initially yes! Though it should be said that Omar is demisexual and it takes a (long) while for him to come to the realisation that this is actually what he feels for Morgan.
There is some denial early on certainly, and it’s wrapped up in this mess of Morgan being and old friend and an enemy, and where the line is drawn between a platonic “I love you” and a romantic one is something he’s had a hard time figuring out.
Once he’s honest with himself and resigns himself to “Well, this is a thing that is happening”, he doesn’t really dwell too much on it, since he believes what he feels is between him and Morgan, and who he is as a Muslim is between him and God. Is it wrong? He’s not about to fight about how he feels or argue about scripture, if they say what he feels is wrong, well alright, he’s wrong, but he’s just concerned with living honestly and doing good on a day to day basis, and being judged by what he does more than who he is at the end of all things.

Bi and ace people shouldn't have to prove their sexualities, and it's lousy bi/ace rep when it's never alluded to in the show and starts and ends with the creators calling them bi or ace in a social media post are opinions that can and should coexist actually.
