I always personally thought that Sabo was a child that was actually rather academically gifted, he had a thirst for knowledge and was a genius at retaining information. The problem was he was never allowed to explore topics of his own interest, so when he ran away and started living on his own he started reading any and all books on whatever topic he could find in the Grey Terminal. And when he, Ace and Luffy teamed up they would steal from bookstores. (idk I feel like Goa wouldn't have libraries. I mean free knowledge?? in GOA??? nahh)

Of course this was a lot of books on sailing, making boats, wilderness survival in the Grandline and the sorts of things they would need to know as pirates. But he would also try snag books Ace and Luffy would love.

Getting Luffy to actually read a book willingly was impossible but Luffy being a bug boy, would point to every bug he finds and looked at Sabo like "WHATS THAT ONE!?" And Sabo having stolen a huge book of East Blue bugs will flip through and read to Luffy facts about the bug. and its the most excited they have ever seen him about a book. When Sabo got all his memories back he became a walking bug encyclopaedia. I think Ace would be against reading no matter how hard Sabo tried to pitch the stories to him. But Once Sabo was gone and there was a pile of books left in the treehouse to rot, he picked them up as a way of staying connected to his brother.

I think Ace would read a lot of fiction books but keep it rather secret, reading in the evening when Luffy already fell asleep. He wasn't at all very fast at reading at first having to sound out words like he was six, but as he finished one book, a favourite of Sabo's, he read another and another. He got better at spelling, grammar even his handwriting got a little neater. He grew out of fiction when he got older. but leaving reality for a moment to be someone else was something he really savoured when he was a teen. This also ended up saving him as a commander considering all the paperwork he would have to do and thank god his handwriting was at least legible.

Casey may be one of Donnie closest friend (not that he consider her, his friend or anything, it'd be ridiculous), but they still have boundaries.

Want to tease him? Yes (a middle finger in front his nose, poking him without touching him, ...).

As funny as that is, excessive or inappropriate touching (to Donnie) are off the table. Donnie would be truly mad and get physical and no one wants that, even Casey. She learned it at her own expense.

The first (and the last) time it happened, Donnie almost bites her hand off and yelled to "fuck off". It was so awkward and unexpected that she angrily busted out his lab, mumbling "sensitive prick". Later, she came back and dropped some "junks" on his desk, that he has asked for to the supply group, long ago. And left as fast as she came, screaming "You better be- ohandimsorrybytheway-not mad after this, got it?!"

ASL thoughts and head canons.

1. Sabo’s missing tooth he had as a kid didn’t actually fall out. He chipped it back when he was still living with his family. And his parents thinking that made him look disgusting and rowdy had the rest of the tooth removed before his adult tooth was even remotely ready to move in. Thus there was a gap in his teeth for ages. It started growing in when Sabo set sail.

2. Luffy loved using Ace’s freckles as a dot to dot. Both brothers heavily think he doesn’t have a fucking clue what animals he’s trying to conjure and Ace is getting sick of having to fight him tooth and nail every time Luffy finds a marker

3. In his early days of friendship with Ace. Sabo refused to believe that he could eat an entire bear by himself. He thought Ace was exaggerating like when someone says “I’m so hungry I could eat a horse” yet when he saw it with his own eyes he was horrified. Ace was also confused why Sabo didn’t want a bear to himself. But didn’t complain. Hunting one bear for the both of them and fighting over it was pretty fun. And scavenging berries for a desert never bothered them.

4. Sabo grew his hair out while he was a run away. He hated how it looked buzzed. And while he probably didn’t let it get any longer then his brother’s he loved the freedom. His mother cut his hair the second he was taken back home

5. Ace and Sabo hadn’t thought twice about bugs. Ace saw them as pests like the moths that would huddle around the candle light and Sabo was taught that they were gross. Luffy on the other hand adored them. He showed them bug fighting and showed them all sorts of cool and pretty bugs. He would also put beetles in his brothers’ shoes for fun but in the end they had come out of it for a new respect for bugs and a little bit more love-hate for Luffy.

6. Sabo tried to tell his adopted brother about his real brothers but he refused to believe Sabo was telling the truth. I mean beating up a giant tiger in the woods? Being made of rubber? Being able to eat 5 times their body weight in a matter of minutes? He thought Sabo was loony.

7. When taken back to his parents, Sabo refused to eat with his brother. Sharing a meal with someone made you friends and sharing a cup of sake made you brothers. And he wanted nothing to do with him.

8. Sabo was Dadans favourite. At first. Originally Sabo was… as well behaved as he was going to be around his brothers because that need to respect authority was so engrained in him. Though as he grew more comfortable with Dadan and trusting she really wasn’t going to kick him out other dumb things. He started joining in on the bullying Dadan band wagon. And she hated them all equally again.

9. Luffy and Ace find it absolutely hilarious how bad Sabo would get sun burnt in the summer. They would chase him around trying to slap him for hours. Dadan taught him how to make a remedy and over the years he gained a tan and freckles that he knew would have his bio dad blow a fuse.

10. Luffy always wants to be in fights of strength with his brothers to prove he’s strong. You know, arm wrestling. That weird thing were you put your feet together and push with all you’re might. And of course rough housing. But in the super early years of being a rubber man that was impossible cause his body would just. Bend. Arm wrestling? Womp womp no elbow for you. Foot wrestle? His legs fold like a piece of paper. He was humiliated and his face was bright red every time Ace and Sabo would laugh.

11. One of the best training methods the brothers had found for Luffy was actually made as a joke. Still completely pathetic at landing a damn punch Sabo jokingly said he should train by trying to catch bugs by stretching your arms. And after a lot of frustrated afternoons his aim did improve an alarming amount. Luffy to this day continues to train that way and he always thinks of Sabo when he does.

12. They never finished that bottle of sake they stole from Dadan. At the time they all thought the drink was absolutely putrid though drank their cups if it meant they were brothers. The bottle is still in the treehouse. Even after everything. It’s completely oxidised but the smell keeps animal from making their treehouse a nest so Ace and Luffy never minded all that much.

Being a artist is really hard sometimes! (It’s hard just being a human too but I’d have a essay if I got into that, so staying to the artist side of things) anyways, it’s hard! Like yeah it’s a lot of peoples outlet and making art is super fun. And I’m not usually one to complain (for a number of reasons but whatever) but I want everyone to know their not alone and it really is hard sometimes

Being a artist has its ups and downs: art block, lack of motivation, lack of ideas, or being really inspired, or having tons of ideas and just goofing around. But the downside er hard part at least for me and others I know is the comparing and feeling of not good enough. Either not good enough in your art, feeling it not perfect enough, having to high of expectations and feeling terrible when it didn’t turn out the way you wanted. We all know this feeling in one way or another and I’ll be straight up it sucks, it really does

and this ruins it for some people and I hate that, the fact you can create something is amazing! No matter how good or bad you think you are. Everyone has the right to be creative and make the things they feel inspired to do! And no matter how far along you are in your art journey comparing can potentially crush that

and don’t get me wrong comparing isn’t inherently bad. Like you can compare your art to learn from it or see how someone else does this certain thing and how you can improve your art. What I’m trying to say is, don’t belittle yourself or your art because your going great and you are unique and no one else can make that art like you can! And it’s not fair to yourself to compare your artwork to another persons. That person might have years of practice or draws hours a day to improve.

And going right along with that last bit EVERYONE is always improving and at one point or another the person your comparing yourself too felt the same way you do. So be nice to yourself! Your doing great! And you shouldn’t make art just so you can “beat” or be “better” then this other person. Make art because you want too and because it makes you happy >:0

My curse is that I want to be an editor when I graduate but critiquing my peers' creative writing stories (3k-6k words) is so exhausting that I have to take a break in the middle of each one
