my url is a... long story. to put it simply it comes from my chosen name (marigold g. cortland-kaard, keep that in mind in case you ever need to sternly reprimand me >_O)

the cortland part comes from a friend i used to have (once again, long story) and kaard comes from rouxls kaard (deltarune) because he's uncle coded and i used to associate with him hard

Was your inspiration when creating Haruko Ren Sangonomiya Kokomi? Since they’re my two faves I just thought they looked quite alike

✦゜ANSWERED: Ren was originally based off of my old UTAU/Vocaloid OC, so there are no real visual inspirations for his design!! ^^ I just like creating pink/white-haired scrunklies who are perhaps a bit unhinged lmao

Also this isn't directed at you by any means, but just so others are aware: I'm not really comfortable with people comparing Ren to other characters (it diminishes all the effort I put into making his design and personality unique, and oftentimes leads to people mischaracterising him (i.e. if he looks like Kokomi then he must act like Kokomi as well)). It's not fun being put in another character's box when I wasn't intending to be there in the first place ;v; /nm /lh

scrunkly (my "baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped) the sky copper clutch!! traumatized children imprinting on a guy with baby fever is usually what i go to fanfic for so to have it right there in canon? incredible. i love all of frost's little tantrums and idk, just the way that she claims moon as her family in a way that has nothing to do with court politics? she's like, we're your clutch, obviously. and this is our court because it's your court, and all the other jabronis who live here are on thin ice. she's ready to throw down with moon's wife/the government at all hours of the day and she's like six years old. i love that moon has that energy in his life even though he personally is pretty confused and exhausted by it lol.

Zagreus. Oh my god, Zagreus. My favourite video game protagonist hands down.

Many of my Felix mutuals like to joke that he would never play video games because of the whole “controlling a character” bit, but I’m here to tell you: he would play Hades, in fact he did play Hades while watching his father slowly die in the hospital, delivering the final blow without breaking eye contact Every. Single. Time.

And of course, he developed the biggest crush on Zagreus.

Zagreus spent his entire life (potentially centuries?) enduring the most horrifying abuse and then just. Woke up one day and decided he had had enough. He dies again and again and and again, always respawning in the very same prison he grew up in no matter what, but he does not let it get to him; instead, he picks himself up and tries again, just for a chance to catch a glimpse of the sun. Not taking any bullshit from anyone, but remaining kind and soft through his entire ordeal.

A model and an inspiration to us all. ❤️🩸

When I saw her eyes, I cried. Because one of the first things Zag asked Hades upon learning the truth about his parentage was wether or not he had any siblings. If there was someone like him, out there, going through similar hardships.

Sometimes I want to take the word “nuance” away from fandom, because too many times I’ve seen it used as, “Agree with me on the exact degree of gray morality about this character or else you’re just not capable of seeing them in a nuanced way.”  And that’s just ridiculous.  Real nuance is in accepting that other people will see a character differently from you.  Real nuance is in having an entire array of different reactions to different characters.  Some characters are sunshine angels to him, some characters are sad little meow meows to me, some characters are pillars of all that is good to me, some characters are my little scrunkly Blorbos, some characters are my little trash pandas I dug out of the dumpster fair and square, some of them are evil walnuts that I hope choke on a rusty spike, I can run the gamut of reactions to characters because I don’t have to react to them all with the same gray morality lens. Trying to take someone’s reaction to any given character out of context of their larger pool of reactions to a variety of characters is the opposite of nuance, you can point your finger and say, “You want to defend this character as a good person or having made a good moral choice because you can’t accept that your fave made a bad choice of mistakes.” is patently untrue when that same person has thirty posts on their blog about how they love their dumbass scrunkly son who made terrible choices and that’s what made him a good character.
