Slight correction: multiple artists Lily specifically favorited have been arrested for using CSEM as references for their 3D work. Kaneda used her toddler son as reference material, including having someone have intercural sex with him for that material. Masked is in prison for using a child of a family he was friends with for reference material and he had sex with the boy in question multiple times, even though he was able to dodge charges regarding that due to oral sex not being provable in a court of law. Amri, one of two animators who made the Spike rape animation Lily faved, was convicted of violating an Estonian law that prohibits adults having kids engage in sexual activity with them, adults putting children into prostitution, and adults using children for pornographic purposes.
If you look at screenshots from Sankaku, where thumbnails flagged for review for possibly being made with CSEM are framed in yellow, there are over a dozen images flagged in every. single. account's. favorites. That's how prolific the problem is on there. You can't avoid it even if you try if you look into the loli or shota tags. The fact that they have a flagging system because this keeps happening is in and of itself really alarming.
I get that not every person who makes NSFW of a character who's underage references real minors, and a lot of horny teens make art of teen characters they like, but while I respect anon's attempts to assume good faith and assume innocence rather than guilt... on Sankaku, CSEM and NSFW are genuinely, honestly interchangeable terms a lot of the time. Three artists in one year alone who abused children aside, any site that hosts 3D, photorealistic art is going to have art made from CSEM references because artists who use CSEM as reference material can blend in and hide behind those who don't.
That's why survivors hate that site. It's not "doing survivors a disservice" to refer to that shit as CSEM because 1. a large chunk of it is 2. a lot of users looking at it are looking for CSEM they won't get in legal trouble for and 3. even the 3D renders that aren't CSEM would still look like CSEM to anyone who's not a 3D artist who can pick out all the anatomy flaws in it.
As a survivor I get why anon wants to distinguish between art and exploitation of children because yeah, some 16 year old being horny for a 15 year old character isn't CSEM but that's just not what we're discussing when it's Sankaku.
Point in case: my abuser took a picture he had where he'd came on my face and had a 3D artist make a render of it with his brother's face instead of mine. It's still on Sankaku because even when they take it down, people reupload it. It's been in circulation for six years.
Sorry for dumping this in your inbox, this kind of thing just makes me see red. I'm not a bad survivor for hating Sankaku or for calling it CSEM and neither are you.
I realize the descriptions in this are graphic, but I'm sharing it with trigger warnings because YALL NEED TO REALIZE HOW GRAPHIC THE SHIT LILY IS LOOKING AT IS!
This isn't a joke!
This isn't "anti vs pro" ship bullshit!
This isn't "Oh but it's fictional so it's not the same"!
LILY ORCHARD IS A VIOLENT PEDOPHILE!!
If seeing this offends you, instead of getting mad and indignant at the people spreading awareness about it, TARGET THAT SHIT AT THE PERSON USING HER PLATFORM TO ACCESS MINORS AND OTHER VULNERABLE PEOPLE!

Listed: Immaterial Possession
Immaterial Possession puts the viscerality of bass-driven rock, the hypnotic drone of East European folk and the dippy energy of art punk into a blender lets it whirr. The Athens, Georgia band—comprised of Cooper Holmes, Madeline Polites, John Spiegel and Elephant 6 scion Kiran Fernandes—met at an arts commune. Their self-titled debut came out in 2020, and the follow-up, Mercy of the Crane Folk, this year. Reviewing it, Jennifer Kelly noted that, “If you’ve ever wondered what the B-52s might sound like on a serious Incredible String Band bender, well, possibly a lot like Mercy of the Crane Folk.”
Selda “Gitme”
youtube
Selda is the queen, a 1970s Turkish songwriter, political activist and cultural icon. This song has such great energy. You immediately blast off on the Turkish spaceship to the cosmic love song.. the desperation in Selda's powerful voice steers you. (Madeline)
The Stranglers, “Hanging Around”
youtube
Love this track and whole record Rattus Norvegicus for its up-front, guttural driving bass lines and menacing vocals. The keyboard runs ascending into the air counter the low earthiness. The record cover is also a perfect fit for the music, classy yet dingy, calm but aggressive, mysterious but mundane. (Cooper)
Isaan style street music from Bangkok
youtube
Isaan music from Northeastern Thailand is some of the coolest music ever.. it's got the perfect blend of psychedelia, folk, improvisation, and party rhythm. And it's for all occasions. (Madeline)
The players are effortlessly cool too. Almost anything we find in this genre gets us going. (Cooper)
Bizunesh Bekele, “Debdabe Lakibign”
youtube
This video is one of my favorite tracks lately. I love the shuffle beat with the overdriven krar, a six-stringed harp, and the sweet synth licks mixed with the vocal. (Kiran Fernandes)
Hany Mehannah, “Shahr Al Assal”
youtube
Super groovy 1970s Egyptian music, scored for film. This is one of my faves from Hany Mehanna, a wonderful composer and keyboardist. His flourishing expressiveness of the Farfisa organ is a great influence on my organ playing in Immaterial. (Kiran)
The B52s, “Give Me Back My Man”
youtube
A big favorite from the B-52s catalogue. Cindy Wilson's vocals are so raw and glorious.. her swing from chill to scream is a cathartic explosion. And the beat and bass line is everlasting in electric spirit. I listen to this one when I need a jump. It’s also a favorite karaoke number. (Madeline)
Buffy Sainte-Marie, “God Is Alive Magick Is Afoot”
youtube
A friend shared this with us after one of our shows. Buffy Sainte-Marie is a radical badass woman. It's “experimental” (as implied by a traditional pop sense) in the way that you are partaking in her hypnotic spell work. Just found out Leonard Cohen wrote the lyrics. That explains my gravitation to this one; Cohen is a favorite lyricist. (Madeline)
Barış Manço, “Dere Boyu Kavaklar”
youtube
Another groovy 1970s Turkish funk master. That mustache is its own instrument. I sit patiently, although in starving anticipation, for that delicious lead riff.. for that, we'll go to wherever he's luring us..(Madeline)
Aphrodites Child, “End of the World”
youtube
A 1968 Grecian epic banger. Appropriately, in the Greek mythological tradition, it's both deeply romantic and ominous in nature. Very incredible, shapeshifting vocals. Sometimes the visions of the werewolf come into my head with this one. Other times, it just feels like an apocalyptic fury of love. You could probably use this song as an easy Rorschach-ian test to see what's going on in your brain today. (Madeline)
The Bats, “Smoking Her Wings”
youtube
A friend put this on a mix tape. I love this sweet song! A driving tune with a perfectly soft and floating nostalgic melody. When I listen, I feel like I am falling in love in the summer of 1987 and want to cry over something yet I know not exactly what. (Madeline)
Velly Joonas, “Stopp, Seisku Aeg!”
youtube
A 1970s Estonian songwriter and artist. This funkadelic, melancholic, song has got a viola(?) line that cuts through like you're swimming up to the shimmering surface of the Baltic sea to take a breath. I love the rhythm in the vocal lines. I've listened to this song on repeat many times. Thank you Velly! (Madeline)

okay its 2:30 am so this is not thought through or proof read but I am sending you my *thoughts* on the finals tonight (and also melfest heat 2 and the lithuanian semi final):
melfest heat 2 was ok…I figured either wiktoria or theoz would’ve qualified for the final for sure but neither have (although theoz is in the semi final so we’ll see) (also victor crone is in the semi final as well and I don’t like the song but I hated the song he had when he competed for estonia like I did not like it at all so :/)
the lithuanian semi final was fine, paulinas song is good and I think she’s among the favourites to win with mario (the song is also good) but I actually really like moonbee like the chorous is stuck in my head, beatrich was also good
estonia was the first of the night and the one I was disappointed by the most because ollie was my favourite by far (the song is kinda giving nickelback tbh but it works) and he ended up second and they chose a ballad (in english as well) and while its not bad it’s nothing special imo
denmark is fine but it reminds me of another song and it drives me crazy because I can’t figure out which one but I think overall the song is fine (has a lot of vocal effects tho so I don’t know how good these will translate to eurovision)
latvias song is actually really good I like that they included a bit of a latvian lullaby at the end but I also think hush wouldve been a good option as well
romanias song is also good, I think the final was somewhat weak but dgt is really good and catchy and he has good stage presence
malta was surpassingly fine although I would’ve loved to see aidan there (he was second last year and his song was sooooo much better than what they ended up sending (they changed the song after the final) and it was in maltese and I loved the song so much) I actually thought brooke would win but the busker is fun and could at least get them to the final
I don’t really wanna talk about croatia like they had some good entries in the last few years but this entire final felt really outdated and not in a fun way
as for sanremo…it felt both gay and homophobic (which I think is the point of sanremo) and it was at least entertaining to watch and during the superfinal I was rooting for lazza even though I figured marco would win (I think the song is okay but he is amazing live which is worth a lot and elevates it)
MER AV DIG GOES CRAZY I LOVE IT!!! Even if it doesn't go any farther that's an easy playlist addition the entire performance was amazing. I can't find a video of Wiktoria's performance but I love the song and her voice is GORGEOUS.
ok I'm listening through all of your faves from the lithuanian semis, Paulina's performance was so cool, I adore Mario's voice and the song is giving rock-country vibes I LOVE IT, Moon Bee's was a little slow for me personally but I definitely see the appeal, and I LOVEEEEE beatrich's performance, I think it was maybe my favorite and it qualified :D
I really liked the Estonian entry a lot, and Nickelback vibes is like. the perfect descriptor for Venom but I also like listening to popular Nickelback so it's right up my alley LOL
Denmark's I think was one of my favorites of the entries released yesterday but I think the concern about it translating to a live performance is p valid, I'm watching the performance from the grand prix and it's pretty good, but I think he could definitely do w some dance training? ALSO I REALIZED IT SOUNDS LIKE A LAUV SONG 😭😭 I’m not sure which one but it’s very much a how I’m feeling track and I’m a sucker for lauv. So
The Aija performance was perfect for the song, though I will say I liked it more on the 2nd playthrough than I did the first
I also really liked DGT, for me it also needed a second playthrough for me to really appreciate but it’s really fun and I’m excited to see it on stage!!
The Busker was giving me Be More Chill vibes during their performance and it's a funky little song, I hope it'll be a fan favorite bc given the track record of last year's judging I don't trust the jury (nor most of the public) to let it get through :(
The Croatian one was definitely interesting, I don’t think I loved the song’s sound but the translation and interpretation was interesting to read n it’s quite topical so 😭😭 I doubt it’ll get through semis though
as for sanremo I’m so confused about what happened bc someone else (?) sent me something about live divorces and sexuality crises but I don’t think I could make myself sit through it all 😭
While due vite wasn’t at the top for me during sanremo I haven't been able to get it out of my head so yk what? I’m excited to see him bc the recording sounds almost identical to his live performance it’s awesome also I just wholeheartedly want italy to win every year unless the song is trash, which it hasn't been since I started watching
#my entire plane ride home was just me listening to my favorite ones that are on spotify and reading fics#(rn it's 4 songs—queen of kings/bridges/breaking my heart/due vite)#it was really great actually#anon also since u seem to be like. 5-8 hours ahead of me I'm gonna schedule this for the time sanremo started#also anon do u want an emoji I want to give u proper recognition when u send asks to me bc this was epic THANK U FOR DOING THIS!#lyss.esc23#lyss answers#🌻 tag

The Euro songs we have lost, part one.
Just like last year I have compiled a list of my favorite national finals songs that did not make it to the big show in May, in Liverpool, but have found a good little home in my currently listening and other playlists that I have. Because even if these NF can be an absolute massacre and you can end up with your heart broken and non of your favs in Eurovision it's still such a fun way to explore new music.
And yet I can resist tweeting out 'omg worst eurovision ever' every day from now and until May even if that happens because I am an adult, but more importantly I have watched eurovision every damn year since 1999 and I know that sometimes you just have an off year with eurovision and it just isn't eurovision-ing all that much for you some years. It happens. And that's fine. Because the show is still always entertaining, you can usually find at least one song that you LOVE, and then is just always next year. The show must go on.
And there are always eurovision songs that wear me down every damn year and I end up LOVING because I enjoy the performer or they were just so fun on stage. It's all fine, even if it may apear that I have not gotten a lot of favs through. I just aim at a solid top 5 and a fun show for eurovision.
Now, I don't watch or even listen to ALL eurovision NF because there is just so much time that one has. One does need to pick and choose with these things. And this is just a blog post to mourn but also talk about some of those faves that I lost.
KRUTЬ – Колискова: Although I personally am not a huge ballad person, KRUTЬ had my favorite song in Vidbir before the show started and the one I wanted the most in Liverpool. It's a quiet, haunting lullaby in Ukrainian and is just absolutely beautiful. I may not reach out for this song that much on my playlist atm, but you know, it's an awesome song.
FIINKA — Довбуш: The song that actually became my favorite song, or like my most played song from Vidbir, was actually Fiinka with this rap-folk song. I never had any hopes of this winning since rap-folk won for Ukraine last year and Ukraine is not very used to sending the same example many years in a row.
OY Sound System — Ой, тужу: Traditional/folk mixed with edm is generally something that I really like in Eurovision, and just in general too, so of course I was going to enjoy this. It doesn't reach the same heights as GO_A's two song and it's nothing new for Vidbir so it was never going to win. But it does go off! It's fun. This is my jam.
Jerry Hill - When God Shut the Door: The song that I and almost everyone in the eurofandom that I am apart of thought this going to win Vidbir. Lots of emotion in this one and a really cool song, but I personally found it oddly staged. Or I wasn't really feeling it on the stage.
Neon Letters & Maiko - Tokimeki: There was a cute little Japanese citypop song and I really couldn't help but root for it, even though I always had my doubts that it would win, or get out of its semi. It would be something significantly different for Estonia and also just Eurovision itself if it had been chosen. But then it was put in a box on the stage and sort of didn't have the energy it needed to get out of the semi.
Meelik - Tuju: There were a few blissful days right before the Estonian final that I was starting to think that this song could very well go all the way to Liverpool for Estonia (if you're going to have a Eurovision with lots of guys in bands why not them, huh ? the best dudes in a band that were available) but it sadly didn't happen. This song has been stuck in my head since it came out. The chorus is such an earworm. And I also just really enjoy the indie looser aesthetic that the band has going on.
Chérine - Ça m'ennuie pas: what a happy little synth song (I love 80s synth and really can't get enough of it) and it was in French which made it even more cute. Like 80% of the fans thought it was going to take the ticket to Liverpool but it was strangely staged on the night itself (which I can't find a video of) which may have been why it didn't work, although why it didn't win or even come second is still a mystery to me.
Jone ft Silkie - Ekko Inni Meg: This song immediately got stuck in my head the moment I heard it. And really has been there in the back of my mind ever since. It's samples some other song, which Ateez (a kpop group) has also used, and it may not be the most original song there is and the staging didn't maybe have the impact it needed and I would absolutely love for the woman who sings in the song to be with Jone on stage. But damn this is such a fun, catchy track that I couldn't help but root for it. Probably one of my fav songs this NF season.
Eline Thorp - Not Meant to Be: A sleeper hit for me, but then there was just something about this song or maybe just the singer that was so charming, that it just wore me down. I was quite pleased with it making the final.
Ella A - Waist: This song was much better on spotify than it was on stage imho. Ella did have some cool choreo and attitude on stage and you can see that in a few years she will be a really cool performer. Maybe a little more confidence was needed to sell this whole thing to an audience, and I actually thought this suffered from over-choreography like a lot of songs this year. The slomo effect as I call it. It just doesn't always work. But as I said the song is great on spotify.
Vicco - Nochentera: Going into BenidormFest this was my fav song. It is a good radio pop and the video works well for the song but I really always knew that it probably wouldn't be strong enough on stage to go all the way. It's just not that kind of song. And I was right about that. It felt a bit weak on the night and didn't stand out when it came to staging. But it's great on spotify.
Megara - Arcadia: this would have been something completely new and exciting from Spain, which is something I'm always up for in Eurovision. It is fun when countries take a little risk. It was cool to have something like Megara in BenidormFest and the song was well performed and managed to not be too choreographed or anything like that. This was just enough. And it was fun!
Paola & Chiara - Furore: I need you all to pretend to be shocked that this was my fav, ok. Even though Sanremo just ended just yesterday and the songs have not even been out for a week, this song has completely taken over my life. On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and then this morning I have woken up with this song stuck in my head. I just wake up singing this song. It was everything I could have wished for tbh. Never had any chance of winning Sanremo, but it won my heart (which is a much higher prize tbh) and gave me the biggest show. This was a show! It was camp, they were all sprayed in glitter. What's there not to love.
Levanta - Vivo: This lady has had a song in Sanremo before, in 2020 which was the first sanremo that I watched, which I absolutely loved. So I had high expectations for this song. And while don't think Vivo is better than Tikibombom, I think it manages to pull off a similar vibe which I appreciate. It was never going to do amazingly in Eurovision, it was never going to win Sanremo, but that doesn't matter. I adore it.
Colla Zio - Non Mi Va: This song almost woke me up from the dead towards the end of the first night of Sanremo, after we had just listened to so many boring ballads and slower songs. The song sounds so much fun on spotify and it was a fun on stage. Although the performance there was a bit too out of sync and they do that thing I think is done a little too much in Sanremo… which is just wandering aimlessly around the stage. Or maybe I just want my boy bands to be a little more in sync and dance-y after listening to kpop for so many year. But they still got better and better with each passing night.
Colapesce, Dimartino - Splash: Here are other performers who have been in Sanremo before with a song that I really liked, the year Måneskin won, called Musica Leggerissima. I can't make up my mind if I enjoy Splash more than that one tho. I don't know what it is about this song, but I get a bit of an Abba feeling from it. And maybe that's why I like it. But they are also very charming performers.
Lazza - Cenere: At the bottom of my top 5 in sanremo but it was still the song that I most wanted to go to Eurovision, out of the ones that I knew had a chance to go to Eurovision. This song is just so current, it would be a little different in the eurovision landscape and would stand out in the competition, just like Soldi did.

25. PORTUGAL
Elisa - “Medo de sentir”
youtube
We’ve finally crossed over into the “I like this” territory :-) Let’s celebrate by booting another ballad ^_^
Song Analysis
This will be short and sweet though, since there isn’t much to say. “Medo de sentir” basically the Marie Myriam of its national final: It is a cromulent ballad that did nothing wrong and is solidly good, but not great in all the relevant areas (vocals, composition, staging).
I mean,
Even so, Elisa gave me a few small nuggets that warmed me to her, serving DRAMAFACE in the FdC Semi
and LOOKS in the Finale:
Peach puffy sleeves that rival Leonor Andrade’s legendary shoulder pads as a fashion statement <3 (honestly, this is pretty subdued for FdC fashion even? Hold on until I get talk about Felipe in the NF Corner)
Honestly, you may wonder why I like this more than “Répondez-moi”, but I don’t really have a reason - unless you’re willing to accept “Medo de sentir is underrated, is performed by a Weird Indie Girl and is from a criminally overlooked Eurovision country” as valid argumentations. Oh and while I only *very* mildly like Elisa, it is a decision I made myself, completely free of the social pressure I feel whenever Gjon, or heaven forbid, Roxen or Diodato, pop up.
Furthermore, the fact that I still like Elisa even after she won her NF also speaks greatly in her favour. I’m not sure if you were aware of how good FdC was this year? Well, sit down because you are about to witness it!
NF Corner
Remember how old Eesti Laul’s neck was snapped and its corpse was urinated on by the shit Estonians? Remember how the quirky indie weirdo entries had to find a safe haven elsewhere in Europe? The Portugese hallmark traits of “Not Giving A Fuck”, “Doing Our Own Thing No Matter What” and “What Do You Mean This Isn’t A Vimeo Showreel?” allowed for Festival da Canção to absorb Eesti Laul’s broken spirit and channel it from every (Ley-La-)Ley-Line.
and since this is the first *GREAT* 2020 NF I am covering, I will do HONORABLE MENTIONS before I actually review my four choices :o
Dubio - “Ceguiera”: Hamburglar-looking goddess <3333
MEERA - “Copo de gin”: Pure EL-style EDM *and* it’s about drinking gin, needless to say this song is basically *my anthem*. Jimmy P - “Abensonhado”: Rap rarely is my thing, let alone three minutes of it non-stop. Having said that, this is genuine and dramatic and Jimmy is flanked by a GOSPEL CHOIR (dressed in chasubles!!!) who support him in ENGLISH... I am not made of stone. JJaZZ - “Agora”: Totally slept on this weird indie anthem, but then they showed up looking like this:
and yes, it was even funnier in motion (sadly gif’ing rights are reserved to the Elite 4 soz) Elisa Rodrigues - “Não voltes mais”: a jolly tropical ballad in a genre I recognize but cannot name (some sort of pimba fado jazz? Does this work?) and was incomprehensibly hated by the Portuguese? Will I ever understand how this country operates? Probably never. Kady - “Diz so”: another pimba fado jazz sort of thing? My friend André (who is from Brazil) tells me it’s actively parodying Brazillian counterculture and leftist stereotypes which is such a random quirk to put in a Portuguese music comp <3
And before we move on, I’ll chuck in a very speclal DISHONORABLE mention for our good friends Blasted Mechanism.😈 I actually forgot to do my jury duties for ESCUnited here, so I’ll just let James (the person with the best taste on our team, including yours truly) do it for me:
Fucking *TRUTH*. “Rebellion’”s problem has always been a lack of motherfucking balls. Sure, these middle-aged steampunkers attempt to implement a genre shift between indie rock and fucking ORCHESTRAL METAL/HIP HOP and make it so underwhelming and pathetic? People blame the live, and yes it was *bad* (forever cackling at “REBELGIUM” tho), but it was the studio that failed to deliver on the promises it made. It always surprises me when people (Sean and Roy I AM coming for you) slam "Verona” for being a “fanwank” and then fall for a Rebellion which is basically a fanwank for heterosexual snobs. #ShotsFired.
Now, as for the actual Boris faves, LET US START WITH A LIBERAL DOSE OF ASKEW CUBISM
Judas - “Cubismo Enviesado”
youtube
VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO?
VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO?
VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO?
VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO? VÊS OU NÃO?
WHAT A FUCKING SPANDEX CATASTROPHE. “Cubismo enviesado” is a horrible song, the choreography looks like it had been conjured up during a particularly drunk night of bedroom karaoke and Judas can’t hold a tune for the life of him. The lyrics don’t even make sense in Portuguese <33333 It is an art school project gone disastrously wrong. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I AM OBSESSED.😍
Filipe Sambado - “Gerbera Amarelo do Sul”
youtube
That look
The regal panache
Those... leather shorts?
IT IS SO QUEER I LOVES IT. As with Cubismo, I am fucking OBSESSED. However, unlike Cubismo, “Gerbera amarela do sul” is *legitimately* great, lol. In addition to having a KICK-ASS fado rhythm and the off-the-charts visual components (the jewellery! the hats! the throne! the hand choreography!), the lyrics are highly intelligent poetry geared at dismantling upper class snobism.😍 Rare to find an entry that kicks ass on SO MANY levels. Even harder to see it lose to Elisa Myriam - but I’m not sad it lost because, you know, it would have befallen the same fate as a “Telemóveis”. At least his existence makes the memory-holing of Achille Lauro’s ICONIC Virgin Queen Cosplay so much easier to stomach.
Throes & The Shine - “Movimiento”
youtube
I mean, entries that open like THIS:
are instantly iconic, ngl. The best FdC entries offer a great triple of great looks, unplugged stubborn artistry and fun quirky rhythmes. Throes + The Shine pass this with flying colours and I mean, THOSE sunglasses alone yank up the laugh-out-laugh factor to astronomical levels. add in a hilarious choreography, sound effects that seemingly imitate duck mating noises and three very attractive men (in 2020! the concept!) and it’s an instant fave right there.
AND THEN MADE THEIR ENTRY EVEN BETTER BY ADDING MIDNIGHT GOLD/JOWST EFFECTS TO THEIR STAGING. 😍😍😍😍
MANCHAS DE LAMA NA SUA PELE
HEROES. 😍😍😍
and of course, this wouldn’t be a 2020 NF without an obvious runaway fave losing at the last minute:
Bárbara Tinoco - “Passe-partout”
youtube
SHE IS TINY <3333:
She’s like a human bonsai... or a personal attack chincilla.
Okay, so Portugal were *THIS close* to out-France’ing the French with this sassy Zazballad, served with a generous dollop of parisian accordion and stank reaction shots.
Yet another entry that shamelessly uses an attractive man as a boytoy prop <333 For a brief moment, Bàrbara and Tiago establish themselves as a pair of lovestruck La La Land idiots, gearing themselves towards the EPIC moment where she will dump him... and then this happens before the first chorus:
Barbara opens up a can of dancer carbs and it completely fucks up her no-bullshit keto diet.
Those dancers man. They aren’t a *bad* addition in itself, but if your thing is “romance ballad but *plot twist* it’s actually an end of romance ballad get lost loser” do not burn the clou within the first minute of the performance to a group of dancers who don’t even dance *along with the beat of your song*. UGH.
(and also, more devastatingly, the reduce tiaGOD’s airtime how dare they grrr)
Fortunately though, I have learned to appreciate the wrecktitude of it all because it caused one of the funniest downfall narratives in recent ESC history. The Portuguese were, of course, foaming at the mouth with all the decisions Bárbara had made (not even for the points I raised, necessarily?) and Bárbara was having none of it. It went kinda like this
Juries: EWWW DANCERS AND CHOREOGRAPHY YOU ARE RAPING YOUR OWN SONG YOU PHILISTINE WHORE. Bárbara:
Juries: WOW WHAT *ARROGANCE*!! YOU THINK YOU CAN WIN BUT BOY DO WE HAVE NEWS FOR YOU :-)
and lo hand behold, the finale rolls on and Tinoco’s dancers are still there, and are even *MORE* present than they were in the semi (but also in sync with the beat) and Bárbara gets promptly jurydunked into third place. 😍 Even though she has the *ONLY* song in FdC that could have qualified in its semifinal. 😍 A woman who stands three apples tall trolling an entire nation and juries because she knew she had gold in her hands and then getting rigged out of the easiest nf victory out of pure SPITE 😍 WHAT AN ARC. 😍
Portugal 2020 vs Portugal 2021
Elisa probably would not have qualified. I’m not sure how popular of an opinion this is, but I prefer the semifinal performance of “Medo de sentir” and that wasn’t the staging they were going for. Not many people seemed to care either way, and that’s usually the death sentence for Portugal.
Elisa won’t be back for 2021 or whenever Eurovision is rebooted. :sigh: Fuck you, Coronavirus.
Freaky! Friday! Factor!
See: NF Corner:
Score: 4 Senhits out of 5.

charming, forever, gem, giggles 😚
thank you, el ;))
charming: i think i have been in love...it's probably not the easiest thing to determine sometimes but i reckon i was. it was this girl (maybe a shocker) and she was estonian and it was my first girl crush so i had to go through all these horrible stages since i grew up in a straight household..like disbelief and denial and shame and all that gross stuff..but when i finally accepted it i was having a ball. i wrote her letters and songs and collected shells for her sksksks. honestly, i get whipped. i think i was in love with her for quite a while and she did have feelings for me too but in the end she wasnt feeling it and then she had a boyfriend and it was chaos but yes...i got over it and i am stronger now. getting over her has probably been one of my biggest accomplishments. only because at the time i felt like i would never ever get through it..but then i did :-))
forever: time stops when i am listening to songs that just transport me and make me feel alive...honestly music has this ability to utterly amaze me and make me feel all these crazy things and i love it. time stops when i am with the people i love, like my dear friends. we are all idiots but i love them. time stops when it storms..is that a weird one. i just love storms so much, the thunder and the rain and lightning. i think it's spectacular. i am a sucker for the stars and the moon and like..large bodies of water...i love staring at all of them.
gem: this is quite hard.. so many are great... @gwilymz was my first dip into the fandom and she was there when i first made this tumblr and sent in the first ask so she will always have a special place in my heart. and her content is 10/10. @rogerina-is-hotter-than-me is one of my fave fave tumblrs. ciara is so cute and lovely,, and damn you should see her selfies. also, we are married. i just love her so much :( one of her prof!gwil fics moved me to my core i sweAr. she is seriously so amazing. @xiaoqueencava is an absolute babe also, her personality is bomb and she's always been so great to me. she deserves the world and more. @queenbbarnes i love you too!! a swedish delight right there. and i can't forget my scottish gal @denimmay who is also dear to me. she has a farmer kink. and is funny as fuck. also @asktheanimagus is honestly the biggest angel. she is the biggest supporter of my writing and is just the cutest thing :( love you, beth. i feel like i may have forgotten someone..if so i am sorry. i love all of you.
giggles: my aesthetic..hm.. i guess i am an indie girl type? i really like the classical..greek mythology type aesthetic with all the statues and cherubs and angels. i also love love the aesthetic in call me by your name. i think i have a soft aesthetic but at times..it's more dark and sensual. honestly do i even know my aesthetic.

rule: answer 21 questions and tag 21 people you want to know better.
i was tagged by @bugband thank youhh!
i. nickname
i dont have one!
ii. zodiac sign
scorpio. a bonus: my chinese zodiac sign is metal horse. (and chinese zodiac is more accurate in describing me)
iii. heigh
167 cm (im bad at math so i dont know how to convert it to feet)
iv. hogwarts house
i would probably be that ghost in the bathroom and i dont know in which house she belonged to. but really, i have never been that into harry potter so i really dont know.
v. last thing i googled
lmmao, "90 day fiance nicole and azan"(i dont get these two like what is going on with them? i have so many questions???)
vi. fave musicians
the beatles (obviously). and not exactly a musician, but one of my fave composers though, whom i consider the best, is tchaikovsky.
vii. song stuck in my head
im still not over eurovision actually so random eurovision songs
viii. following
around 250, but i guess only 50 are active???
ix. followers
around 2200, and again, maybe only 200 are active???
x. do you get asks
no, i would like to, but then again i know that i would procrastinate with my answers and it would give me anxiety.
xi. amount of sleep
never enough, always sleepy
xii. lucky number
7
xiii. what are you wearing
a black linen dress 50s style and feeling like im overdressed cause everybody's wearing beach-y clothes. i didnt get the memo that the library is a beach.
xiv. dream job
ugh... that's a touchy subject actually. something that isnt "a linguist" (aka opposite to what im pursuing at the moment in the university). i like my upholstery apprenticeship that im doing in my spare time but idk if i love it only as a hobby or if i could do it as a job. anyways i want to do something where im not told all the time that.. basically that im a nobody and how everyone else is better than me, i dont want to work at a place where humiliation is a norm and friendliness and kindness doesnt exist - that's how things are as a gradstudent/researcher at university... and it continues to be this way until you're a senior researcher which happens when you're in your 50s). a craftsman, artesan or something similar would be nice. i applied to a conservation undergrad programme and it would be cool to be a conservator - it has craftmanship and research (and even science) combined. + i love old stuff :)
xv. dream trip
british manor houses. italian towns. portugal in general seems interesting. also a trip on the old silk road through all the old silk road towns like samarkand etc (although the aladdin-like mental image i have about the silk road doesnt exist anymore).
xvi. instruments
cant play any
xvii. fave song
it's impossible to choose only one!
xviii. languages
native estonian, finnish as second language, english, french, swedish (novice), + i am (almost) a linguist, so i have studied too many (latin, german, italian, latvian, ingrian, livonian, sami, komi, hungarian), but i really only "speak" and "understand" those first i mentioned.
xix. random fact
hmm... i saw a ufo two years ago few days before the christmas. it was dark and i only saw blueish lights flying and i thought at first that it's just two drones flying next to each other and occasionally doing circles around each other. but. a) they flew way too fast and erratically to be drones b) although they were flying low, they made no sound... and drones always make horrible noise...
also i occasionaly see future events in my sleep??? nothing big, just minor things like somebody says/does something and then they say/do the thing the next day. or i see an item in my dreams and then i see it somewhere the next day...
xx. aesthetic
my blog has turned from a only-the-beatles into an aesthetic blog so my blog is my aesthetic?? 60s, vintage, flowers, pretty architecture, stars, space, moon, paris, paul mccartney.
im so quiet here in tumblr that i wont tag anyone... but if you want to do this tag-thingy, do it! 😊❤❤❤

Eurovision 2009 my top 42
Hello, and welcome to another episode of this ESC top series, and I go back to May 12, 14 and 16, 2009, when the 54th edition of the contest was held in Moscow, Russia, after Dima Bilan’s victory in Belgrade last year. 42 countries took part, while San Marino withdrew and Georgia was disqualified because of a breach of the contest rules, Slovakia returned to the contest after their last showing in 1998. This year is known as the one when the juries returned, making 50% of the final score together with the televote, this year it was only implemented on the final, but in next years they were introduced on the semis as well. The contest was won by Norway and Alexander Rybak with the song Fairytale, making this their 3rd win overall and also he set a record number of points and a record for the most 12 points, so it was a very smashing victory. Also the stage was so stunning and big, I love that stage so much. And now, let’s review the songs!
1st Place: NORWAY/Alexander Rybak-Fairytale (Real Placing: 1st-387 points)
This guy has one of my favorite songs of all time, and it’s timeless, the music is so pretty, the lyrics resume my love life and he’s so cute, the performance is a truly fairytale and after many listens throughout the years, I never get tired of it.
2nd Place: FRANCE/Patricia Kaas-Et si’l fallait le faire (Real Placing: 8th-107 points)
This is such a masterpiece, her voice is so wonderful, I’m in love with it and her pronunciation, the music is like something out of a French movie, and it’s stunning, the performance is perfect and she’s such a classy singer. A lot of passion and feeling in this song,
3rd Place: ICELAND/Yohanna-Is it true? (Real Placing: 2nd-218 points)
Well, this song is so heartbreaking because of the lyrics, her voice is so good, the performance is cute with that dress and the background, the music is so pretty and it’s a very enjoyable song, such a precious ballad and Yohanna is so beautiful as well. This in 2010 would’ve been better, sadly, that’s just a fairytale, and she was beaten by a fairytale as well.
4th Place: UNITED KINGDOM/Jade Ewen-It’s my time (Real Placing: 5th-173 points)
A magical ballad out of a Broadway musical, her voice is simply angelic, the music is stunning, beautiful, the staging is gorgeous, she’s beautiful and it’s the best UK entry of the decade for me. This has a very nice building and it finished with class and elegance. Simply beautiful.
5th Place: AZERBAIJAN/AySel & Arash-Always (Real Placing: 3rd-207 points)
This is what I call an Azerbaijani song, this mends the damage they did to myself last year, this song is catchy, modern, dancy, it’s such a perfect song and it has ethnic sounds as well. They sing nice, the performance is so wonderful and I’m in love with it.
6th Place: ESTONIA/Urban Symphony-Rändajad (Real Placing: 6th-129 points)
This is one of the songs I use to concentrate before my studies, the music is so magical, her voice is so beautiful and calm, it’s like a fairy, the staging is pretty and wow, I always feel out of this dimension with this song, it’s so relaxing as well. It’s one of the best Estonian entries in the world.
7th Place: SWEDEN/Malena Ernman-La voix (Real Placing: 21st-33 points)
LA VOIIIIIIIIIIX, this lady is such a charming person, her smile is pretty and the song is so good, it’s one of my fave songs from Sweden of the late 00′s and her voice is such a delight to listen. The music is so schlager and that’s what makes me love it. Her dress is so beautiful and yeah, Sweden was underrated that year.
8th Place: TURKEY/Hadise-Düm tek tek (Real Placing: 4th-177 points)
Wow, this song has an ethnic style to it and Hadise is such a perfect singer, also she’s stunning, the performance is everything and the düm tek tek part is very catchy and I enjoy it so much, I loved it since the first time I heard it and wow, it’s charming.
9th Place: SPAIN/Soraya Arnelas-La noche es para mí (Real Placing: 24th-23 points)
Oh come on, this song is very good and finished second last, the music is enchanting, her voice is good, wish I could say the same to the backing singers, but it’s a nice song, the lyrics are good, and the performance is okay, surely this is a very catchy song.
10th Place: ARMENIA/Inga & Anush-Jan jan (Real Placing: 10th-92 points)
Armenia again serving quality, this entry has a lot of ethnic sounds, the dancing is perfect, they sing so well together and this feels like something out of the desert, the staging is so clever and effective and it’s such a lovely song, JAN JAN
11th Place: GREECE/Sakis Rouvas-This is our night (Real Placing: 7th-120 points)
Again the Greek god is back, and with an amazing song as his last attempt in 2004, not the result he wanted but this song is so good, I love the music because it’s very modern for the time and the performance was so good and epic.
12th Place: ISRAEL/Noa & Mira Awad-There must be another way (Real Placing: 16th-53 points)
A very powerful song with a deep meaning, these ladies surely have nice harmonies and the music is so beautiful, also ARABIC AGAIN IN ESC, it’s so nice. I enjoy so much the bridge before the last part, it’s simply stunning.
13th Place: PORTUGAL/Flor-de-lis-Todas as ruas do amor (Real Placing: 15th-57 points)
A cheerful and happy song, also the stage is so colorful and beautiful, her voice is calm and sweet and that makes the song so enjoyable, the music is so stunning and it’s one of the most calm songs ever.
14th Place: MALTA/Chiara-What if we (Real Placing: 22nd-31 points)
Aww Chiara is back for a third time, and even if I think this is her weakest song, it has a lot of beauty and the music is so perfect and good, her voice is, as always, stunning and out of this world and she’s the only one that can fill a big stage with only a beautiful voice.
15th Place: MONTENEGRO/Andrea Demirović-Just get out of my life (Real Placing: 11th SF1-44 points)
Why this failed to qualify, the music is so good, her voice is amazing and the performance is simple but charming and effective, I always dance to this one and IMO one of the best Montenegrin entries on the contest.
16th Place: BELARUS/Petr Elfimov-Eyes that never lie (Real Placing: 13th SF1-25 points)
Another epic and nice rock song, his voice is so cool and the music is so powerful and inspiring, the performance is amazing and full of lights, also THAT STEADICAM SHOT IS EPIC AND PERFECT. It’s one of my favorite songs that year and IMO this deserved the final, but there were many amazing songs.
17th Place: MOLDOVA/Nelly Ciobanu-Hora din Moldova (Real Placing: 14th-69 points)
SUCH AN ENERGETIC SONG AND I LOVE IT, her voice is such a pleasant trip, the performance is happy and catchy and the music is perfect, one of my favorite Moldovan songs ever. This makes me want to go to Moldova and dance there.
18th Place: ROMANIA/Elena-The Balkan girls (Real Placing: 19th-40 points)
Wow, this song is so nice, it has a fresh feeling to it and the music has nice elements, also she has a nice voice, it’s a very cute song and I love the Balkan girls.
19th Place: FINLAND/Waldo’s People-Lose control (Real Placing: 25th-22 points/last)
Why this finished last? I love this song so much, but maybe I love more the studio version, the performance here is so cool and I love the projections. Their voices are good but not the best, but the music is so epic and I like it. An undeserved last place.
20th Place: CROATIA/Igor Cukrov & Andrea-Lijepa tena (Real Placing: 18th-45 points)
Hey Igor... I mean, this is a very lovely song, the music is so charming and he has a very nice voice, also Andrea is a very talented singer and I’m so amazed by this song, at first I thought it was boring but now I like it, such a nice entry.
21st Place: ALBANIA/Kejsi Tola-Carry me in your dreams (Real Placing: 17th-48 points)
The music here is one of the best things ever from Albania, I enjoy it so much, her voice is so special and the performance is quite weird but I like it, I’m hypnotized by that bridge and also, I feel so guilty because this is very low on my top.
22nd Place: UKRAINE/Svetlana Loboda-Be my valentine (Real Placing: 12th-76 points)
SVETLANA <3 she’s so stunning, the music is so nice, it’s so powerful and memorable, also her voice is so good and the performance is quite weird because there were many things happening at the same time, still, I like this song and it’s one of the entries that I always remember from this year.
23rd Place: GERMANY/Alex Swings, Oscar Sings-Miss Kiss Kiss Bang (Real Placing: 20th-35 points)
One of my guiltiest pleasures ever, this entry has everything, a nice singer, the performance is so pretty and cool, the music has a mix of classic elements and modern touches and Oscar is cute. I don’t know why but I can’t stay still while listening to this song.
24th Place: BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA/Regina-Bistra voda (Real Placing: 9th-106 points)
THE INTRO OMG <3 it’s so good, the music is so relaxing and beautiful, his voice is so amazing and it’s a very nice entry, love the Balkan elements and everything here blends perfectly. I’m so mesmerized by this song, and I feel so bad because of putting this so low.
25th Place: ANDORRA/Susanne Georgi-La teva decisió (Get a life) (Real Placing: 15th SF1-8 points)
This song is so good, the music is charming, her voice is very nice and the whole package is so pleasant to hear, I’m so happy because of this song, it’s so nostalgic as well and sadly this is the last Andorran song to date, which is a shame because they were very good.
26th Place: CYPRUS/Christina Metaxa-Firefly (Real Placing: 14th SF2-32 points)
Another lovely and cute ballad, she’s so beautiful and cute, the music is subtle and the performance is beautiful, her voice could’ve been better and the last part it’s so epic, I love this song as well.
27th Place: POLAND/Lidia Kopania-I don’t wanna leave (Real Placing: 12th SF2-43 points)
A lovely ballad, her voice is so stunning, as well as the performance, the music is so cool and wow, I’m in love with her, this is a beautiful song and I’m in love with this song as well.
28th Place: SLOVENIA/Quartissimo feat. Martina-Love symphony (Real Placing: 16th SF2-14 points)
The music here is so cute and lovely, which makes the 80% of the song and I like it, maybe her voice was a bit off key here, and it’s very sad because it could’ve lifted this song to the sky, overall this entry is very enjoyable and I can imagine it being played live instead of a backing track.
29th Place: RUSSIA/Anastasiya Prikhodko-Mamo (Real Placing: 11th-91 points)
WHAT A VOICE DOES SHE HAS, the music is so deep and the meaning of the song is very sad but I like it, the performance is quite creepy but it’s effective, I can’t place it higher because I like more other 28 songs. Also Ukranian on a Russian song... interesting.
30th Place: DENMARK/Niels Brinck-Believe again (Real Placing: 13th-74 points)
This entry isn’t bad, but I’m not so fond of it, also this reminds me of another song, his voice is quite good and the music is nice, sadly I can’t connect with it and it’s a bit flat though.
31st Place: SERBIA/Marko Kon and Milaan-Cipela (Real Placing: 10th SF2-60 points)
Oh this is such an interesting song, his voice is so deep but enjoyable, the music is lovely and catchy, also the performance is so colorful and cool, it’s one of my guilty pleasures ever.
32nd Place: SWITZERLAND/Lovebugs-The highest heights (Real Placing: 14th SF1-15 points)
This is a very lovely song, the music is cool, but the voice of the lead singer could’ve been better, also the staging is stunning, it’s one of the songs I can’t decide properly which place will it be on my top, I like it.
33rd Place: IRELAND/Sinéad Mulvey and Black Daisy-Et cetera (Real Placing: 11th SF2-52 points)
Awwww pure nostalgia, this song is like the music I heard those years, her voice is good and the music is so perfect, but still I struggle to remember this song at all.
34th Place: HUNGARY/Zoli Ádok-Dance with me (Real Placing: 15th SF2-16 points)
Oh of course I’ll dance with you.. ehem... well this song is interesting, the disco sounds are nice but his voice could’ve been better, also that outfit it’s quite hideous, not one of Hungary’s best attempts ever.
35th Place: FYR MACEDONIA/Next Time-Nešto što kje ostane (Real Placing: 10th SF1-45 points)
This is a very decent song, but I can’t remember it instantly, I love the music and the voice of the lead singer is good, still, I think this needed a better hook. A nice average rock song.
36th Place: THE NETHERLANDS/The Toppers-Shine (Real Placing: 17th SF2-11 points)
A entry with potential ruined by a mediocre beat and the performance isn’t very good. They could’ve been better. The only thing I remember about this one is the DJ behind because it’s adorable. The rest... meh.
37th Place: LITHUANIA/Sasha Son-Love (Real Placing: 23rd-23 points)
I see why this is a nice song, the music is lovely and the verses are good, but the chorus ruins this song, also it’s a bit boring after many listens and that makes me feel sad about this one.
38th Place: CZECH REPUBLIC/Gipsy.cz-Aven romale (Real Placing: 18th SF1-0 points/last)
This entry is funny? The music is interesting and the staging is very good, sadly I’m missing something in this one and turns annoying after a while into it, his clothes are lovely, I want that costume so badly.
39th Place: LATVIA/Intars Busulis-Probka (Real Placing: 19th SF2-7 points/last)
This performance is the proof you need to never drink energy drinks before hitting the stage, the music is interesting and the chorus is very good, but the verses ruin this and overall makes this entry messy and weird.
40th Place: SLOVAKIA/Kamil Mikulčík and Nela Pocisková-Let’ tmou (Real Placing: 18th SF2-8 points)
A sad return for Slovakia, the music is charming, but I’m not fond of her voice so much because I think it’s a bit annoying and screamish, also I think that the chorus has a messy melody and progression, that doesn’t match the verses.
41st Place: BELGIUM/Copycat-Copycat (Real Placing: 17th SF1-1 point)
Oh an Elvis tribute, but sadly this is a bit bad actually, the music is quite good but this didn’t work on stage, because it felt empty and cheap, his voice is nice, but I can’t put this entry higher.
42nd Place: BULGARIA/Krassimir Avramov-Illusion (Real Placing: 16th SF1-7 points)
Oh this song is a complete mess from top to bottom, the voices are very bad, the music sounds a bit cheap and the staging is so weird, I always want to forget this song because it’s very bad, nothing here connects with me.

Oh yeah i agree! Are your fave shows the one you gif or are they anymore you like? Estonian anon
I liked most of them, but sometimes if the actors look good or the clothing is phenomenal, I will make gifs even if I wasn't the biggest fan of the show.
I have others too, but I don't like it, when I have to crop out the chinese subtitles, because it just looks bad, so I use a website that puts up shows without it. Unfortunately not every show is available, or they are taken down after a while.

Officially unofficial Tallinn Tourism Advertisement 🇪🇪
(DISCLAIMER: If weird - and looong - travel documentations aren´t your thing, feel free to skip! 😜)
On the way over the Baltic Sea was luckily calm and collected...
... and to pass the time they had a pub quiz on the boat...
... aaaaand we ended up winning!
The prize? A free cruise to Tallinn! 😂
Once back on land, the top priority is always FOOD! And this time we found a real gem!
Looks very unassuming on the outside...
... but DAMN THE FOOD!
I could have ordered EVERYTHING on that menu!
Bacon-wrapped salmon rolls with mash and tartar sauce, bacon-wrapped pork with fries and pepper sauce...
... and my choice aka Andalusian ribs with BBQ sauce and truffle-seasoned mash!
And all of the meat was cooked in a charcoal oven so you can imagine the aromas and tastes... 😭
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. Just WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. 😋
Def going back! 👌
Also two snaps for the hotel brekkie! Ahoy, @ripleyonmars & @l27i 😉
JALAPENOS, BABY! SL´s should bring her over stat. 🌶️ 😂
Also @theabductionofpersephone and @tatianalana will be happy to know that (oddly...) there were dolmades and feta cheese available for breakfast... 😂
Who eats dolmades for breakfast?! Especially in ESTONIA?! 😂
Random... 🤔
Also fun fact: PRINCE ALBERT OF MONACO HAS STAYED AT OUR HOTEL!
Well obvs I fit right in. 👸
The hotel had a pool/spa area on the top floor but chose not to get my best Peeping Tom on, so this is all you´re gonna get! 👙 ✌️
When not hobnobbing with royalty and soaking in a pool, a new and fantabulous discovery around Tallinn was a market place called Balti Jaama Turg which used to be a really run-down ghetto area but has now been turned into a very hip shopping ghetto area! 🛍️
This was just the most awesome discovery which I cannot recommend enough! They have everything there!
And when I say “they have everything there” I mean that THEY HAVE EVERYTHING THERE!
In the market for veggies, cool pots or pig faces? 🐷
Step right in, folks!
Needing funky luggage or retro digs for the offspring? 🧳
Look no further!
Are you artsy fartsy? 👓
BOOM.
Where else could you find skin mags and Leo hanging out?
Well, probably over at Casa Leto but in case you´re not invited there, it´s always good to have options.
Fancy Lenin, Gorba or Brežnev in our living room?
Whip out that wallet, girl!
Or maybe a nice armor?
Don´t mind if I do! God that would be handy with the echies tho...
When you simply need to let everyone know...
1€ well worth it.
Cool shoes or leather legging your “thang”? 👠
Voila!
Short on Christmas trinkets and ancient Russian military head wear?
Just pick your fave!
Ever had your heart set on som-
... uhm... 👀
... well... They got some of that too... 😯
ANYWAY!
Found a nice souvenir for only 35€ and I looooove it! 💍
Just think, that could have belonged to just about anyone! Could even have been worn by a friggin´ Romanov or smthg!
Altho considering my luck and where I bought it, it was probably once the property of Magda Goebbels... 😒
They also had various food stalls, and I ventured to take a chance on some Uzbekistani treats! No idea what I ate (it was kinda like a pastry of sorts with cream inside...?) but the red berry kompot was nice! 🥤
Also FYI if you´re looking for something to do on May 24th and 25th... 👀
And a tiny bit of constructive criticism...
IF YOUR SIGN SAYS YOU´RE OPENING AT 8 AM AND THIS IS THE VIEW I AM GREETED WITH AT 10:05...
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?! VALERY KAUFMAN´S BOYFRIEND?! 😒
Meanwhile browsing for a new wardrobe when...
Yes I have heard you are very many things indeed. 👻
And @ginie62 will be happy to know that Tallinn has a shop which sells NOTHING but cat-themed goodies! 😹
I know very few people who would deserve that red mug tbh.
Last December I mentioned that Tallinn is indeed a very fascinating mix between medieval times and modern times...
(Also as you can see, some areas are still kinda ghetto-ish and not very pleasing on the eye OR necessarily even safe to dwell around in...)
... but for me it´s the medieval times that are the most appealing. The buildings are just unbelievably gorgeous and you really feel like you are walking around in 1550!
Found this cute lifesize chimney sweeper dude!
At the Town Hall Square...
... they held an art exhibit in the old Town Hall, which means that you get to make your way through the old and kinda spooky old castle...
(Check out this way cool weather vane from 1530!)
... to find some really great food for your soul!
I really loved these piece by an Estonian painter called Konrad Mägi.
The colors don´t pop up in pics as much, but in real life these are SOOOO vibrant! 🎨
Another fabulous restaurant find was discovered hiding in a somewhat crappy-looking building...
... but once inside you are greeted with the most quaint little Russian restaurant imaginable! 🇷🇺
It´s called “Babulja” and offers all kinds of Russian/Slavic-themed delicacies...
... aaaaaaaaaaaand naturally...
Yeeeehaw! 😋
And for only 7.90€, that blini was a real bargain!
Also gave a meat pirozhki a try, and it was SO GOOD!
And to top it all off, the waitress brought our check inside a little nesting doll! How adorable is that?! 😍
And as you ALWAYS leave room for cake...
... Well. 🍰
And I´ll cap off this long-winded babble post with a public service announcement: MARS is not bargain-binning only in the music department... 😔
Passed on this Mars product too, FYI.
Sue me.

Tumblr blogger national selection season problems
Looking forward to the national selections, until you realise you can’t watch them on TV because you’re not from that country.
Most of the national selections get aired during dinnertime. This means having dinner/supper early or with the laptop, which is even harder if you still live with your parents because they don’t understand why you are so hyped about some TV program that does not happen to be broadcast in your country.
Lagging streams.
Or worse: streams not being available for your country.
Switching tabs because you want to watch the stream and liveblog shitpost at the same time, therefore missing some of the show.
The show is obviously(unless it’s either the national selection of your home country or Eurovision: You Decide) spoken in a language you don’t understand.
Having to watch multiple streams at the same time because you want to follow multiple national selections.
Missing that awkward moment everyone suddenly talks about because you have been switching tabs in order to post something. Again.
Complaining about your fave not making it.
After the final, you spend the rest of the day/week/month/Eurovision year wondering why your favourite or everyone’s favourite of the show didn’t win.
Click on [read more or whatever it is in your country] for more relatable content, specific for a certain national selection. Feel free to add more!
Melodifestivalen
Keeping track of every good joke that is made.
And then realising you have missed that one moment when that host kissed a fully grown man in the audience directly at his mouth.
F*ckboys winning over quality.
Having to keep track of all the röstningsrekords, because the previous ones are being broken pretty much every night.
Loads of LGBT and feminism.
You think Sweden will never send something like Euphoria again because of the f*ckboys and all the other participants but you still watch it, because of the amazing interval acts and you constantly wonder if Sweden could send one of those to Eurovision instead of the trash that’s called the participants.
Sanremo
Every. Single. Thing. Is. In. Italian.
When the show has started, 25 minutes of talking and commercial breaks follow before the first participant has even performed.
And after a participant has performed, they start talking again and there are random interval acts and commercial breaks.
As a result having to stay up until 1 AM to see all the participants for five days straight.
Therefore struggling not to get bored while watching.
And getting out of bed each morning afterwards.
Being extremely happy that the the one song you desperately wanted to win wins, but then getting extremely disappointed because the artist you desperately rooted for refuses Eurovision participation.
Bad roasts.
Eesti Laul (+UMK and Söngvakeppnin?)
Okay, Swedish is hard, Italian is hard, but Estonian (or Finnish, or Icelandic) is not a popular language to learn. Because it’s HARD.
If the winner is everyone’s fave, everyone’s wondering why THE HELL Estonia/Finland/Iceland did not qualify.
And then, you’re desperately hoping for a song like Meiecundimees üks korsakov läks eile lätti, Hatrid mun Sigra or Hard Rock Hallelujah will ever represent Estonia, Finland or Iceland again.
Supernova
Riga Beaver.
