Sixty five million years off
I. Love. This. Episode. I think of all the eps this one makes everyone eat their words the most with Shawns prediction. Lassie, juliet, chief vick, henry, gus, and even Shawn was a little like wait, i was right? I eat that shit up, yum yum yum!
It is insane the teacher praised Shawn for his project. He taped a toy dinosaur to a remote control car and that receives a 👌 when Gus built this amazing dinosaur head?? I think this is the beginning of them showing how Gus is substance over style and Shawn is style over substance (though in this case Gus clearly got both). Which i think ill talk more about later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Im adding artistic talent to Shawns list of mystery talents. He did this in <5 minutes (also genuinely impressed by whoever did draw this)
Tumblr media
Its such a small thing, but it was nice that Shawn was protective of the dino head because he knows it means a lot to Gus. He just sounded so genuinely concerned that it maintain its integrity.
It’s a little contradictory for shawn to be like i know theres a pattern to these dig locations because i know archaeologists, and act flabbergasted that Gus knows you can’t fill a hole for the same reason. At some point im going to discuss Shawns previous jobs and my own headcanons for some of his history, even though the writers pretty much used them as a mcguffin whenever they need him to know something specific (like what t-rex teeth puncture wounds look like).
Shawn will say two things about someone and then they’re friends. This psychiatrist was like yes i am stressed, you know me so well! Would you like to get a coffee? He does this with a lot of ppl and ill probably discuss more later, but this psychiatrist jumped on board immediately haha
And Henry really had to eat shit this ep lol but he deserved it. He initially told the psychiatrist that shawn was delusional and at the end, essentially said, you’re making cops look bad and that hurts my feelings. Somewhere in the middle is a vague hint of concern for shawns safety (which even Chief Vick had to tsk at him for). Love the psychiatrist calling him out for being a control freak, even though it was probably unethical to be like, surprise bitch! This is your therapy session! (Heres a grown man throwing a fit lol)
Tumblr media
That little hug between juliet and lassiter 🥹🥹 mind you, this is S2E2. Juliet and Lassie have known each other less than a year. Besties for life right here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
P.S This makes me flinch in sympathetic pain every time

favorite part of kiri the way they went like "she is mystical and magical and deeply spiritual and connected to pandora in a way no one imagined possible. also she is 14 so she sticks her tongue out and rolls her eyes and whines and doesn't want to be in pictures and goes 'mYeH NyEh mAh mNyEh' at adults when they fuss at her"
#;lkjdsf;glkjsd;flgkj#i want. to put her in my pocket#every time jake calls kiri ''baby girl'' i gain 10 years of life 〈⋄〉 ooc.#listen i fully get people who like. they have that disconnect where they Know it's sigourney and that just#doesn't work for them or whatever right#but she turned in a 11/10 performance as a 14 year old like#it's just done with so much awareness from the adult perspective but also so much care and empathy im so in love with it#something so.....unique in all the correct ways about using this technology we have to do this#like i know some people think it's the same as de-aging and using deceased actors likeness right but#to me for this role specifically it's so much more like....stage acting?#and the fact that it's sigourney in both roles Adds to the character to me#she is mother. she is daughter. she is old she is young she is dead she is so alive she is. both!#like digitally de-aging for the sake of ''''yeah this happened when they were young''' is just like. idk neither here nor there for me#it almost never looks good but that's about the end of my thoughts on it#i think the way they've been like. bringing the likenesses of deceased actors into movies with this is really weird and not my favorite#for a variety of reasons#but this? this is perfect this is exactly what this should be used for. she's right there and it's not /really/ her but younger#it's not trying to reimagine a young sigourney weaver it is giving a different life to this performance#i mean considering it's effectively an animated movie anyway you know????? god does this#is this at all comprehensible#im having a moment don't look

Ah yes, the music room. Ground zero for multiple incidents of heartbreak over three seasons. In the immortal words of Ellen Ripley, here’s my proposal for what to do with the goddamn music room:
“I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.”
Not again.

An action movie that the studios are too cowardly to make:
An ex-spy in her sixties gets her grandchildren kidnapped. She pairs up with an eager but unexperienced himbo and they hit most of the beats of your average action-comedy. She still knows the less-physical parts of being a spy by heart, and is a master of intentionally being underestimated or unnoticed. Especially now that her enemies, and all movie studios, completely ignore women her age. She shares a tender moment with the himbo, possibly giving her a backrub after a fight, which in most films would lead to sex, but she reacts in disgust to the idea sleeping with someone young enough to be her grandson. The film ends with the family having dinner together, with himbo sidekick joining in as an honorary grandson.
I've been picturing someone who used to be in action films but now just looks like a badass old lady, like Sigourney Weaver. In mom jeans and a sweater.

This is kind of a ramble of a question sorry. I'm a trans guy, and have been trying to figure out how much sexual attraction/desire I actually feel, with the idea of figuring out how into sex I'd be post bottom surgery. I do think I experience some attraction towards women - watched Alien last night and felt funny every time Sigourney Weaver opened her mouth - but I don't think I feel it as intensely as other people my age (15.5), and never seem to feel horny spontaneously without a specific trigger. I am dysphoric about my genitals to the point where actually being aroused/feeling any kind of sensation from them is mentally very uncomfortable. I had a stim when I was younger (autistic) that I later realized was unintentional masturbation, and I stopped immediately after learning that. I don't know if I would ever want to have sex with a prosthetic. My amount of desire might change (though it hasn't so far a couple months on t) but right now it seems like the amount of dysphoria from using a dick I know is fake + the stimulation being centered in the wrong spot? outweighs desire. I think I would be open to the idea if I got phalloplasty, but I'm not entirely sure it would ever be a thing I sought out over say, playing video games yk? I can be overstimulated, am bad with people, and just don't seem to want it as much as everyone else, even though i do want it? Now the main question. I want phalloplasty. I want to have a dick, and pee standing up, and feel the weight of it when i sleep. But it's also a long, expensive, complicated process that I might end up getting and then never actually using for the main thing genitals are meant for - sex and masturbation. I want it, but I'm not very attractive or personable, and it's a hard thing (even harder if I do it young on my parents' insurance) to do and then have to tell everyone you'll die a virgin. Any thoughts? Sorry if this is unfocused or inappropriate.
hi anon,
listen. I totally get your anxieties about your social and sexual options right now, and why they might make phalloplasty seem like it isn't worth it.
but the thing is - and I swear this isn't meant to be condescending - you're 15 and a half. what you're like right now is going to have so little bearing on who you are as an adult that it's hard for me to even begin to describe. hell, who I was when I was a senior in high school was pretty much completely irrelevant by the time I finished by freshman year of college. you're going to change so, so much in your life, and just because you feel like you're not attractive or personable now is no reason to cut yourself off from a surgery that it sounds like would make you very happy!
even aside from having sex, there are plenty of other reasons to get phalloplasty. you said them yourself! you have reasons you want to have a penis that have nothing to do with sex at all, and you don't ever need to sleep with anyone in order to justify that. being comfortable in your body is always reason enough.

‧₊˚✩ 01 ; girls like girls / k. sully
Tumblr media Tumblr media
♡ 𓂃 ꒰ girls like girls! ꒱˚.༄ ೃ kiri sully x fem!reader. 901 words. one of two. ⌒(≧▽° )
𓆩♡𓆪 synopsis: kiri sully was certain she wouldn’t ever exist to you-at least, not in the way that she wanted to.
content: na'vi!reader, metkayina!reader, emo teenage angst!kiri, reluctant babysitter!kiri, kiri turning into shakespeare. tuk being the sweet little demon baby she was meant to be. she is my child and i love her so dearly. i don't know, this is pretty short for the first part? but i wanted to get this out for the additional notes and i was just having writer's block with it. sorry!
ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ additional notes: i have posted this in the midst of aging drama-the actor who portrays kiri, sigourney weaver, is not a minor. and according to john landau, james cameron's literal production partner, the na'vi have a longer lifespan than humans: 160-180 years, as oppose to the average 80, and they are older than the "equivalent-looking human". as in: na'vi years and human years are not the same. the na'vi reach their adulthood in the time that is equal to 15-17 human years. after that, their aging stagnates. which means if lo'ak and kiri have been alive for fourteen human years, and neteyam has been for fifteen-lo'ak and kiri are the human equivalent of seventeen, and neteyam is eighteen. idk what to tell you girlies. these are 8-foot tall, motion-rigged blue space aliens. enough. i turned eighteen like two months ago and watching you guys made my head hurt. let's put this energy towards real-life child predators, and women & men pushing thirty simping for blatanly established human minor characters! anyways, hope you enjoy this first part of the fic. thank you lovelies.
୨✩୧ ; fic under the cut!
Tumblr media
there was no reason for kiri sully to feel such ardor towards you. absolutely none. yet, she couldn’t help but be entranced by the way you moved through the waves.
you were just gliding through cerulean waters with lo’ak, neteyam, tsireya, ao’nung, and roxto. jake had introduced you all to the human custom of ‘marco polo’ when you were young, and it seemed you had never grown out of it. kiri had been thrown out of the game, looking over tuk’tirey for her father while she made a sandcastle. tuk was especially displeased with this, as she thought she could beat you all flawlessly in marco polo. but alas, she was not allowed to wade out that far.
watching your every move from afar, kiri surmised that you were not very good at this game. every single person who was marco before had gotten you immediately, no matter how far away you started. probably because you would start splashing and kicking every time they got close, through a fit of feverish giggles. especially when lo’ak was marco-he’d ignore everyone else just to get to you. then, it became the coquettish game of ‘how fast can [name] swim to escape impending doom?’
“this sucks,” she caviled and clutched a stick limply, etching your name in the warm, manila sand.
“you would feel better if you built a sandcastle,” tuk hummed with an expectant lilt, looking at kiri.
“i would feel better if i was lo’ak.”
“would you really? he kinda smells.”
“true,” kiri tilted her head with a nod, scribbling out your name. “[name] doesn’t seem to care, though.”
“oh, blegh,” tuk’tirey stuck her tongue out, swatting at kiri. “stop that.”
“jeez, jeez-” kiri raised her hands in defense of tuk’s minacious and staunch (endearing and incredibly light) pummels. “tuk, i’m not even doing anything!”
“you’re doing that thing that daddy does when mommy looks at tonowari for more than like, two seconds. you’re being all,” tuk did a sashay back to her sandcastle before turning around and putting her hands on her hips, “j-e-l-u-s. jealous.”
“hello? it’s j-e-a-l-o-u-s. you literally cannot spell.”
“i’m literally seven and i’m trying my best.”
“fair enough. but i’m not jealo-” she was cut off by tuk ‘kikiki’-ing at her with an outstretched finger. “you know what? fine. maybe i am a little bit jealous. but it’s not like it matters, anyways.”
kiri threw her head back, falling into the sand. she stared up at the calm azure heavens adorned with ivory, velvet clouds. the image paired perfectly with what kiri called the polyphonic melody of unrequited love: her pining heartbeat reverberating through her spine, your distant, cherubic laughter, and the sound of the waves skimming across the shore, before melting back slowly into the sea. as far as kiri was aware, you only knew her as one of two of neteyam’s (your neighbor) siblings your age. not the goofy, obnoxious younger brother with unkempt braids and winsome dimples, but the brooding basketcase of a sister. the looming, deviant character who thought she could feel the heartbeat of the empyrean, the atlantis, and the motherlands. she was certain that to you, she faded miserably in comparison to the awkwardly-charming foreigner and prodigal eldest son that newly inhabited awa’atlu. she could tell from the way you hung on every honey-coated word that was uttered from neteyam’s lips-big, sparkly doe eyes complete with dilated pupils completely enraptured by him. kiri could tell from the way those roseate, glacé lips of yours curved into an intoxicating smile that she simply couldn’t get enough of, everytime lo’ak unleashed his ‘comedic brilliance’. she was certain she wouldn’t ever exist to you-at least, not in the way that she wanted to. “yeah, this seriously sucks.”
“why don’t you just ask if she likes you?” a query from tuk that made kiri jolt up, turning her head to tuk’tirey in bewilderment.
“absolutely flabbergasting. that you just told me, to do that.”
“why? whenever i have a question, i ask it.”
“but this is different, tuk,” kiri exhaled deeply, bringing her knees to her chest. she ran her hands through her hair, before scratching the top of her head. “she’s a girl, and i’m not a boy.”
“so? i don’t see a problem,” tuk contorted her face in confusion, before shrugging and kicking her meticulously crafted sand fortress-she was getting bored. she sat down crisscrossed in front of kiri, tapping her nose. “girls like girls, like boys do. nothing new.”
tuk’s idea was not entirely inane as kiri’s riposte made it out to be. it was getting harder to mask her tempestuous affinity for you, with each passing moment. you merely being around her made her heart beat at such a frenetic pace in her sternum. your scent permeated her senses, suffusing her cheeks a feverish and tender sanguine-you smelled as saccharine as the candied simpers you gave her, with light floral notes and a hint of ocean’s brine. and your visage-oh, your countenance as a whole-remained steadfast as the most ravishingly beauteous thing she had ever seen. you were like a painting to her: every curve and every color was painted by eywa’s pedantic hand.
“so if i were to…” kiri closed her eyes with a sharp, delayed sigh, shaking her head. “...confess, when would i? or-how would i?”
tuk’s mouth curved into a smile laced with playful, youthful malign.
kiri was going to have her hands full, wasn’t she?

got any canon listener looks? references? would love to see em (all of you can)
I usually don't pay much mind to the character designs for Listeners because I want the audience to imagine the Listener themselves, but I have a few features and inspirations. None of them are canon, but I did imagine them a certain way when writing them.
Like Raven took some inspiration from my favorite pulp action movie stars from the 1970s-1980s. I often imagined her as a vague mismash of Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, and a cyberpunk version of Pam Grier as Foxy Brown (I know they had very different looks lmao but you can imagine).
For Guest (Matador Gothic) I just kind of imagine her being young and very into the party girl fashion of her era (2007-2009). Same for the future wife from Chronus Seven, but for the low-key academic fashion of 2002.
I imagine Schäfer from Wolfsjäger being imminently MILFy, with thick brown hair and very bold facial features. I don't have a real life reference for her though.
The Intern doesn't have a face claim or anything, but I imagine them being slim, above average in height, and with loose/flowy hair that sometimes covers their eyes.
Slash has a scarred face from burns. Not enough to completely distort their face/erase their natural features, but enough to be insecure about being "ugly" in normal civilization. I'll never make a canon face for them, but I am making a canon design for their mask.
I imagined Lass from Blue Infinity being this elegant Lady with thick red her hair that she keeps in a bun, and a preference for dresses that are simple in design but bright in color.

Furiosa A Mad Max Saga - spoiler-free review
So, today I went to movies with my Son to see this
Tumblr media
and the short version is: It's good. If you love this movie series you should see this.
I worried a bit, because as a pessimist I expect the worst and the whole prequel to Mad Max Fury Road is setting high expectations and setting the bar ridiculously high.
So I was glad it pulled a "Rogue One" by understanding what to do and being an actual god-damn movie in their own right and not just 'more franchise to you'.
It is fair to say Furiosa is not as full-on full throttle blast Fury Road was. But they are meant to be seen together.
Anya Taylor-Joy shines.
Tumblr media
She acts her heart out. Imperator Furiosa was played by Charlize Theron. Those are not "big boots to fill" nope. Those are massive tactical combat louboutinis. This is " sooo, would you play to young bad-aas Ellen Ripley without being Sigourney Weaver?" It really should not work. Oh and they will limit your lines.
Anya Taylor-Joy makes it look****ing easy.
Tumblr media
The rest of the cast is stellar, too. Apparently George Miller felt all this was playing movie making on easy mode so there is young Furiosa. And child actors are always a game of risk and utter disaster. Having a decent child actor is more rare than a decent musical. So, naturally they cast brilliantly with Alyla Browne.
Tumblr media
So, well done action drama in violent, hyper-brutal, take-no-prisoners ( except for slavery &torture as per Mad Max movies do) world needs villains as heroes, even broken anti-hero survivors are only as good as their opposition is heinous.
This is where one enters Chris Hemsworth, Thor and funny guy from MiB4 and Ghostbusters reboot. Too few have seen him as bad guy in awesome Bad Times at El Royale and so the miss the fact he revels in villain roles.
Tumblr media
But while he does great job this twisted hellscape is full of horrors.
the biggest are Immortan Joe
Tumblr media
Downright chilling and backed by WarBoys
Tumblr media
there is loads More, but remember: spoiler-free.
It is long, two and half hours, but it is good. Not quite as good as Fury Road, but them together? Oh man. As great as this is I could have stomached some more action and violence. My Son has seen only Fury Road and asked if I have the other movies in the series....before noting of course I have as my regular wear is few glued-on rat skulls short of Mad Max wear.
George Miller is a genius. This is not for everyone. That's how it should be. As fan since 1980s series from best to worst is Fury Road, tied second by wildly different Furiosa and Mad Max:Road Warrior only slightly over Mad Max and Thunderdome is far behind.
I wish someone gets the idea of Furiosa back to back with Fury Road in theatres.
The world is horrid and doomed and yet there is beauty.
Go. Witness This!
