royalty au is a lot about Mads trauma ik but I really want to go into NFentons from when he served under NScrooge- as a sort of reaction to that I’m thinking of giving him control issues (though he’s kinda already been written with those anyway)
Being forced to be complicit in everything NScrooge did from murder to imprisonment to raids to greed and just everything means he just had to watch a lot of it and couldn’t do anything about it. Now that he’s in charge he has to be in charge of everything that happens so he can finally do it the correct way. Most of the time it’s not noticeable (he just has a reputation for being very Particular) but sometimes it’ll get bad and he either has to do everything personally himself or the people doing things for him (like his advisors) have to do everything Exactly how he tells form to and afterwards they have to give him an extensive report on what happened. Even though he is a very logical Greater Good Cut Our Losses kind of person it still has to be done the way he has figured it out to help as many people as possible and any variance from that really makes him angry. All of this only serves to wear him out more which makes is mood worse and it’s a hard cycle to get out of. He has a tendency to yell (that he is working on!) which really no one reacts well to but Mads and Blue especially have a hard time with it.
For example ig when Mads first started causing chaos NFenton was really hard on Blue about it because there were bad things happening (riots and fires and stuff) that he couldn’t stop, and so he figured he had the strongest person in the world who was also incapable of doing something about it. He was really nasty to them about not being able to catch him and really took his anger out on them- though nobody really recognized at the time it was a trauma response. Still doesn’t excuse it though and he did apologize to them throughly afterward and hasn’t done anything like that since (over my head was supposed! to cover this but I might just write it independently afterwards). Another example that isn’t as bad is after NGyro’s betrayal things get bad again, and he tries to assign everyone bodyguards- which like. they refuse cause it’s blue and beakley and mads they. all know how to take care of themselves and their refusal only makes his mental state worse. At that point he’s doing better about handling it tho so he’s never really mean to anyone about it he just gets extra grumpy which does lead to some bad arguments and work environments ig. I do have a fic about this I’ve been almost finished with for months now sldlglgkhkg He is also! shit about talking through his feelings so he has a tendency to hold things in until he explodes at someone.
Anyway on a more lighthearted side of it Mads has developed an attack plan for when he notices this from NFenton which is to make him stop working for the rest of the day (so he can’t be in charge of/control anything else and has to let other people take over so he can step back and calm down about it and see that it’s fine), give him a bath, maybe a massage, then distract him with food while braiding his hair and trying to talk about it with him. Talking doesn’t always work the first time so it becomes a sort of ongoing conversation until it’s resolved. The hair braiding is some extra physical contact to help him calm down sldlfkf

Words cannot describe how disappointed I was when 'Beaks In the Shell' first aired, revealing that Fenton's workplace was still in the bathroom stall... despite Gyro admitting in 'Astro B.O.Y.D.' that he was wrong to treat Fenton similar to how he himself was treated by Akita back when he was a young, bright-eyed intern, and then genuinely promoting him to full-time employee.
It really seemed to take away from the VERY promising start of Gyro's amazing character development (along with calling Fenton "Dr. Intern" instead of Dr. Crackshell-Cabrera like he referred to him when he promoted him in 'Astro B.O.Y.D.', or just his first name; while I hc Gyro was still reluctant to regularly use *any* part of Fenton's name going forward, despite his genuine intentions to treat him with the respect and support he realized he deserved- likely because of his social awkwardness and lingering apprehension of getting too close to others because of his past trauma- that's another area of inconsistent character development that disappointed me).
Sometime in season 3, between 'Astro B.O.Y.D.' and 'Beaks In the Shell', Frank Angones once answered an ask on his old Tumblr about whether Fenton still worked in the bathroom or if he had his own space in the lab proper. Frank answered that he was still working from the bathroom, and that he was quite used to it; also that nobody used it as an actual bathroom anymore, ever since Fenton accidentally caused an explosion (no mention of whether Gyro still made him work in there or if it was Fenton's own choice, which bugged me).
Therefore, I hc that Gyro offered Fenton his own workspace in the lab proper after promoting him, but that Fenton- too humble for his own damn good- turned it down, saying he was fine and that he was used to it. It seems like something Fenton would say, and in 'Beaks In the Shell', you can see that it actually looks much more like an actual office area since the only other time we saw it way back in s1's 'Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System' (the changing table was even gone), so I think he just spruced it up to turn it into his own official area after he got promoted.
Ofc, the most realistic reason Fenton was likely still working in the bathroom was for storytelling purposes; a big part of the episode was him keeping the GizmoCloud (and his relationship with Gandra) a secret until it was ready to be launched. But still. XD

could you write a story about Donald and Fenton?
Absolutely! Love both of them; intrigued by the idea of their dynamic.
And I will also get to that other story you requested; don’t worry.
I give you…
The Best Role Model
Originated from this post.
Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera was a lot of things. He was a hard worker. He was a good son. He was a scientist (at least, he was still trying to work his way up there). And more recently, he was working on being a good friend.
The friend in question here was Huey Duck, the oldest great-nephew of Scrooge McDuck, for whom Fenton was employed.
Now, it may have been a little odd for Fenton to find a friend that was so much younger than him. After all, Fenton was in his mid-20s, while Huey was only 11. But Fenton liked Huey. Huey reminded him a bit of himself when he was younger. Besides that, Fenton didn’t know if he (or, for that matter, Dr. Gearloose) would’ve been able to fully figure out Fenton’s Gizmosuit were it not for Huey’s keen eye and pointers, which helped the two older scientists realize that the key to controlling the suit was Fenton himself. Or rather, his mind.
So needless to say, Fenton had a great amount of appreciation and respect for Huey. They’d occasionally hang out on their own, and more recently, Huey started helping out at the lab. Fenton was amazed at how hard Huey worked. It’d started out with basic tasks, like mopping the floor or helping clean the glassware, but gradually, Huey’d been taking on bigger and bigger roles in the lab. He felt so proud, and so was Fenton.
On this particular day, Fenton had just gotten out of work. He was feeling a bit worn-down, so he decided to go to a nearby cafe and get something to drink and boost his spirits.
He had just gotten his smoothie, and was turning towards the small arrangement of tables inside, when…
“Gah!”
He accidentally bumped into somebody.
“Hey, what’s the big idea?”
“Oh, my gosh, I’m so sorry! Are you alright?”
“I’m fine. Just a little jostled, is all.”
Fenton looked up, and finally got a good look at the man he had run into. The voice was unmistakable, but the black sailor suit confirmed it.
“Hey, you’re the boys’ uncle.”
“And you’re that scientist that Huey hangs out with.”
“I guess I am. It’s a pleasure, Mr. Duck,” Fenton replied, sticking out his hand.
“You can just call me Donald,” the sailor replied, shaking Fenton’s hand in return. “Donald Fauntleroy Duck.”
“Fenton Manuel Crackshell-Cabrera.”
“I just need to get my tea,” Donald pointed out. “Where are you sitting?”
“Oh! Uh, let’s do right over there,” Fenton answered, pointing to a table sort of nestled into a corner.
“Perfect.”
So Donald got his mug of tea, and then the two men sat down at the table.
“So,” Donald began, taking a sip of his tea, “what’s it like working for Uncle Scrooge?”
“There are things about it that could be a bit better,” Fenton admitted, “but it’s fun. It’s absolutely been a dream.”
“What’s it like with Gyro as your boss?” wondered Donald.
“He can be a bit cranky,” Fenton continued. “But he’s a good boss. His critiques only make me work harder.”
“Well, good for you,” Donald beamed. “And I agree; he can be a bit much at times.”
“Wait, you know Dr. Gearloose?” Fenton quizzed.
“Well, yes,” Donald admitted. “We actually go quite a ways back. We were good friends, er, back before I left to raise the boys. And after…”
“After…?”
“It’s complicated,” concluded Donald.
Fenton elected not to pry. “I’ve certainly heard about you raising the boys all in your own for ten years,” he continued. “That’s very admirable. And I should know. My p’pa died when I was very young, so most of my life, it’s just been me and M’ma. You’ve done very well for your nephews. You’re a very good role model.”
“Well, thank you,” replied Donald. “You’re not so bad yourself, from how I hear it.”
“Oh, I don’t know about that.”
“Really. You shouldn’t sell yourself short on that, Fenton,” Donald elaborated. “Huey seems to have learned very well from you, and I appreciate you and Gyro taking him on in the lab. Well, not “taking him on”, per se, but you know what I mean. Huey has actually admired Gyro’s work for some time, even before he knew he worked for Uncle Scrooge. And he really looks up to you.”
Fenton was surprised at this. “He-he does?” he asked.
“Yep. For most of his life, he’s been the oldest, trying to be the model for his brothers,” Donald explained. “But even the oldest child needs someone to look up to like that. Tell me, Fenton. Do you have any siblings?”
“I do not,” Fenton replied.
“Well…” Donald trailed off.
“I mean, I’ve had a lot of friends,” Fenton admitted. “But really, none have been like Huey. He’s fantastic. And-well, shoot,” he said, swallowing a lump in his throat. “*cough* Sorry. I mean, if Huey does see me in that way, I’m honored. I can definitely see him like an hermanito, too.”
“Good. I’m glad,” Donald responded. “You know, I’m happy to finally get to talk to you, Fenton.”
“As am I, Donald,” agreed Fenton.
As the two men continued talking, they both realized something: despite their differing backgrounds, they weren’t so different themselves. They were both hard workers. They both knew how to put their minds to something and get it done. And their meeting also reiterated to Donald, and made Fenton fully realize, that they were both good role models.

After all this time- I finally have a good ref for my Fallout New Vegas Courier 6: Riley Redmont Haddock. (But friends just call him "Red") AKA the nerdy human embodiment of anxiety.
+ some doodles of him with various companions I plan for him to have in my playthrough.
Riley is my timid, easily annoyed, anxiety-ridden mess of a wasteland wanderer. Dude has an affinity for robots, tinkering, inventing, repairing and general science nerdery. Poor guy is wrapped up in an absolute bullshit chain of events and is quietly losing his shit.
If you wanna know a little more about the dude, I'll leave more info under the cut. (I'd also be more than happy to answer any asks about the dude.)
Name: Riley Redmont Haddock
Age: Mid-30s
Pronouns: He/Him (Transmasc)
Sexuality: Gay/Ace
(Current) Voice Claim: Lin Manuel Miranda. Mainly just because of his voice as Fenton Crackshell Cabrera/Sheriff Marshall Cabrera from Ducktales 2017. That is, unless I find a better voice.
Personality: Timid and overwhelmingly anxious, and a bit easily irritated in the face of his new travels. Due to his affinity with tech, he tends to be more comfortable around robots than people. (At first, at least.) A bit near-sighted and stuck inside his own head, while still fiercely looks after people close to him. Over time in his adventures, he slowly develops into a more confident, collected, yet reckless person.
Bio:
Riley grew up being the child of a Mojave legend known as "The Scarlet Rider", a woman (named Ellie) famed as a masked vigilante who fought to help the people of the Mojave wastes as the stories would tell. But people rarely knew abot "Scarlet's little girl". (Riley had obviously not "cracked the egg" yet for a good while.) Growing up with a traveller and masked hero for a mother, he learned a lot of what formed him into the person he is. Being a decent shot, a skilled mechanic, and more.
But when in a tragic incident his mother disappears, presumed dead, Riley was then sought after and brought in by his estranged father. This man, however, wasn't exactly as noble as his mother. Him being a notorious crime boss of the Vegas area. Having to spend his teenage years as a pawn to a crime lord, certain events would lead to him running off at the age of 16.
Now with his father's men after him, and almost no one to turn to, Riley would travel across the Mojave wastes and other surrounding areas to find safety.
Young Riley ends up finding a group of travelling performers, who he spends his time with for some years. But after a tragic death in the group, the remaining members break apart- leaving Riley on his own again.
Riley starts further developing his skills in robotics where he finds his love for tinkering and repairs. His endless tinkering ends up in the creation of his closest companion, Buddy. A tiny companion robot made completely from scrap, but somehow harboring an endless rabid thirst for violence and wanton destruction. But due to his size, he's effectively harmless. And for a while, he's Riley's one close friend.
So over the years, he's gotten around the wasteland by keeping his head down and taking various jobs and roles. Scavenger, singer, mechanic, and many more.
To Riley, his position as a courier is just a temporary gig "to get me from here to there". He's never really been too attached to it. But with his latest gig, he didn't really have any idea what this seemingly insignificant job would be getting him into.
Because that fateful night with the poker chip and the man in the checkered suit- Well, it just changed everything to say the least.
After the shock from taking a nasty shot to the head wears off, Riley isn't looking for any petty revenge- but answers. Because he can tell something is deeply wrong. And he's just too damn curious to let it go.
Random Info:
Riley tends to be a bit of a "robot whisperer". He seems to become friendly with bots a lot easier than he does with other people. This is typically due to his repair skills, but he generally seems to socialize easier with robots. (Prior to the NV story at least.) For example, he tends to get along pretty well with Victor early in his journey. And the first real 'companion' he meets is ED-E.
As mentioned- prior to the events of the game, Riley has a connection/history with one of the companion characters. Raul Tejada was a close friend of Riley's mother Ellie. So as a kid, Riley grew with Raul as a sort of uncle-figure. After his mother disappearing and him being turned over to his father, they lost contact. After running away from his father, he would come across Raul again, but it wouldn't last for long before he would have to run again with his father's men searching for him. Sadly, they wouldn't meet again for many years until Riley comes across him imprisoned in Black Mountain.
Riley has no idea just how in high hell this happened, but he manages to form a decent relationship with The Kings. He can't explain why he's friends with them, it just... happened. And he's incredibly confused about the whole thing. The King lets him hang out with his adorable robo-dog, though, so he's not complaining.
He also tends to hang around the Followers of the Apocolypse on occasion after bringing ED-E to them. He just tends to chat around with the members- (Arcade in particular.) But he likes to fix any broken tech around, so nobody really complains.
Riley has a texan accent! He tends to hide it around people, but it tends to slip out when he's emotional. (Extremely angry, extremely happy/excited, you get the idea.) Or when he's around certain people, like close friends. As the story goes along, he tends to hide it less and less.
Riley has an interest in various pre-war topics. Specifically, pre-war fashion, pop culture, and music. He believes that if he was born before the war (or if the war never happened) he would be working in fashion. Namely, working in a bridal parlor.
With his additional background in music/performing, he knows a few instruments! Namely guitar, violin, and a little piano.

❝ yeah, no, not exactly what i meant. ❞ small feet kick out onto the air, unable to fully touch the ground from his seat. huey liked spending time with fenton — he liked being able to talk science & gizmos & gadgets with someone who not only understood, but also cared. it was refreshing & fulfilling & while huey adored & admired gizmoduck ( who couldn’t ? he had saved the young duck, along with countless other lives ; duckburg owed him an immeasurable debt, in huey’s starstruck eyes. certainly more than that darkwing duck ) he enjoyed being around fenton crackshell-cabrera even more.
which is why it worried the junior woodchuck to see someone he cared about obviously with too much on his plate. his tired, overworked eyes kind of reminded huey of his uncle donald, with the bags under his eyes prominent enough to be noticed from across the large table & the lines creasing his brow etching deep. he closed the notebook he had been writing in to better focus on fenton, frown pulling at his beak.
❝ that’s one of the reasons i think you’re so great ! i’ve never seen anyone care so . . . selflessly before, about other people, no matter what. but at the rate you’re going . . ❞ thumbs fiddle. how to go about this ?
Tumblr media
❝ i guess i just want to make sure you’re alright. junior woodchuck rule # 156 ; you can’t look out for others if you’re in too deep. like this one time, dewey tried to swim out because we threw our frisbee too far in the water, but he wasn’t a great swimmer, you know, at the time, so even though he was trying to help, he ended up making things worse for himself, & — i’m rambling again. but have you ever thought about . . . taking . . . a little break ? ❞

I feel like this would be an interesting contrast of personalities…Fenton and Violet?
Well look at you picking two of your favorite blorbos thinking they'd make for an interesting duo, well you're right! I would have loved to see these two together! It would have made for some great comedic moments cause of their personalities. Probably would've made for a great B story in an episode. (They would not get the A story, sorry.)
Fenton Crackshell Cabrera and Violet Sabrewing in
Raisin' the Stakes!
SWOOSH
The sound of a visitor entering the lab caught the attention of Fenton as he stepped away from his work to greet the young sabrewing.
"Well hello!" Fenton happily greeted. "Welcome to the laboratory of McDuck Enterprises. I assume you're looking for Huey since he normally hangs around here, but I believe he is out with his family in Peru today."
"Hello." Violet greeted back. "Actually I'm here because of a school assignment where I must interview someone in the field of science."
"Oh. Well how exciting! But I'm afraid that Dr. Gearloose is also gone for the day, his assistance was needed for the McDuck's adventure in Peru but I thin-"
"I really do not see the point in waiting when you are here, Mr. Crackshell-Cabrera." Violet interrupted with her pen and notepad in hand. "You are a scientist after all, right?"
"Well yes! Of course but wouldn't you want to wait for an adult?"
Fenton stared back at the staring sabrewing who looked at Fenton right in the eye and said nothing, for she did not want to come off as rude or condescending to the scientist.
Fenton was used to receiving blank silent stares and he knew exactly what Violet was thinking based on the look she was giving him.
"Oh...right. Well... how about I show you around?! A quick tour and then you can ask questions."
"Sounds like a good plan." Violet responded as she followed Fenton around the lab.
[about 7-10 minutes of comedic buildup later...]
The two birds ran and hid inside Fenton's office as the Gizmoduck armor ran amok throughout the lab without anyone occupying it.
"Well this is not good." Violet stated as she and Fenton pushed against the door.
"No it is not!" Fenton panicked. "The Gizmoduck armor has a mind of its own and is destroying the lab! Oh it is going to take forever to mop up all that lemon meringue!"
"Well surely there must be a way to stop it."
Fenton rushed to his computer and went on to try to shut off the Gizmoduck armor from there, but his access was blocked.
"Shoot!" Fenton cursed under his breath so Violet wouldn't hear. "The armor is blocking my access."
"Oh no, well that does not sound good."
"It is not!"
"...Well, surely its battery life is not infinite."
"Right! It's still just a machine! And right now, it's at...87%..."
"Oh. Well perhaps we should get something to defend ourselves with." Violet stated as she pulled out a wooden stake.
"...Why do you have that?!"
"Our adventure group STILL has yet to cross any vampires and I wanna be well prepared." Violet answered as she showed off the garlic she had hidden around her neck.
"Huh...and here I thought you had garlic bread for lunch."
"A peanut butter sandwich, actually."
"Ooh, yummy."
"It was. But I'm sorry for getting us in this mess, Mr. Crackshell-Cabrera."
"Hey," Fenton began as he went over to Violet, "I'm the one who is sorry! I should have been thinking more clearly. I'm the adult here, I shouldn't have tried to impress you. I should have been better prepared for an incident like this. At least you have something on you."
"Well it's not like a wooden stake or garlic would do us any good here."
"..." A lightbulb went off in Fenton's head. "Maybe they might..."
The Gizmoduck armor was still going erratic around the lab as it rolled from end to the other throwing pies wherever it pleases
"HEY!!"
The armor stopped in its place and spotted Fenton who now had the garlic around his neck.
"Uh...why don't you try to stop me...Gizmo Armor?"
That was all the convincing the Gizmoduck armor needed to go after Fenton who then started to run. As the suit of armor chased Fenton, the scientist then threw the garlic off his neck and onto the wheels of the Gizmoduck armor causing the machine to fall flat on its face.
"Violet! Now!"
Violet then jumped from her hiding spot and stabbed the Gizmoduck armor in its power supply!
"YES!!" Fenton celebrated. "A direct hit!"
The Gizmoduck armor then short circutied and powered off as the two birds stepped back from it.
"...Will it be okay?" Violet inquired.
"Oh sure! This'll be an easy fix!" Fenton assured as a light fell down from the ceiling. "...I'm just going to have to clean up the lab first."
"Would you like some help, Mr. Crackshell-Cabrera."
"Yes please, and please, call me Fenton."
Violet smiled and nodded at Fenton.
"You know..." Fenton began. "I gotta say I am impressed with how calm you were during all this."
"It may have looked like that, but I assure you on the inside I am freaking out."
"Oh...you wanna grab a soda before we clean up?"
"That would be nice!" Violet stated.

Fanfic: I Luv U Emo Boy XD (DuckTales 17)
Based on an AU by @georgiarose and Glo
READ NOW ON AO3!
The perfect day off began like this- with the drop of a CD into a boombox. The disc whirred to life and the echoing notes of a lonely piano filled the subdued, poster-riddled bedroom of Gyro Gearloose. He stretched his lanky arms to the ceiling and brought them down gracefully, cracking his neck just as the lead singer of his favorite band began to tell a story.
When I was a young boy
My father drove me into the city
To see a marching band
Gyro swept his long, jet-black bangs out of his eyes.
Perfect.
Walking over to the mirror next to his dresser, he snatched a black tube from the top of it and unscrewed the cap. The brush inside emerged covered in cheap eyeliner, color “Eternal Night.” As he carefully drew the makeup around the perimeter of his eyes, making sure to keep the lines simple and clean, he contemplated what he was going to wear. The sun was at its summer peak, roasting everything outside to a fine golden brown. No matter, for he had laid out his outfit the night before, something his parents would call a proactive and studious action. What did they know? They shouldn’t get their hopes up thinking he’d ever live the life they did. He just didn’t want to spend forever deciding what to wear, not when that time was better spent browsing for the new Haythorne Heights CD, which would be out any day now.
That, and impressing his boyfriend.
Speaking of, it was time to see if he was up. He probably was. Gyro was a late sleeper, something his parents frowned upon. Whatever. Gyro closed up the eyeliner and returned it to the dresser, making a mental note that he should get more while he was out. He grabbed his phone and flipped it open, heading straight for the top of his contact list.
“Gyro!” called a voice outside the door. “Can you please turn your music down? Your father can’t hear the big game!”
Gyro rolled his eyes and turned the knob a fraction of a percent down. Parents.
+++
Oh, well, imagine
As I’m pacing the pews in a church corridor
And I can’t help but to hear
No, I can’t help but to hear an exchanging of words
Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera tried not to nod his head to the upbeat, plinky sounds of his own boombox as he applied his eyeliner. Luckily he had done this so much, he had the application down to a fine science. All of his friends were jealous, even Gyro, the emo-est emo he’d ever known.
Fenton’s phone vibrated on his desk. Speaking of…
He finished up and screwed the brush back into the vial. He flipped the phone open with his thumb and saw the new text notification.
“hey loser XD u up?”
Fenton smiled and started pressing the keypad, which he also knew inside and out for the perfect SMSs. “I woke up at 9am this morning. Are you up?”
“lol who r u, my mom?”
“I love you too. :3 When are you coming?”
“in 10 min, we got the new spiked bandS @ the HT”
“:DDDDDD”
“see u soon”
His bedroom door opened. Fenton shut the phone and looked up. M’ma Cabrera walked in, lugging a laundry basket. “You got your clothes sorted, pollito?” she asked.
“Yes, M’ma, on my bed,” said Fenton, turning the music down so he could hear her properly.
She held the basket out on the bed’s edge and scooped the pile of neon tees and striped pull-ons into it with one motion. “So who’s taking you to the mall today?” she asked.
Fenton gulped and ran his fingers through his long purple-tipped hair. He had forgotten to mention that part until now and he knew she wouldn’t be thrilled knowing who he’d grabbed a ride from. “Er, Gyro Gearloose,” he said with a nervous chuckle.
M’ma sighed and put the basket onto the bed. “You know I don’t like you hanging out with that boy.”
“M’ma, he’s not that bad-”
“He’s careless, he’s disrespectful and he smokes- bad habits very easy to pick up. And I bought you all those nice shirts for your first college semester and you are dressing like a piñata!”
“M’ma, this is what everybody’s wearing. But I’m not doing it to fit in. It’s an expression of who I am.”
M’ma sighed again and wrapped her son up in a big hug. “Your mama can’t help it. I just don’t want you getting into any trouble, that’s all.”
“I’ll be fine,” said Fenton, trying a little to squirm out of the hug. “I trust him, and you can trust me.”
M’ma nodded. “Okay, Fenton.” She smooched him on the forehead and went back to grab the laundry basket. “Just make sure you’re back by dinnertime, okay?”
“Yes, M’ma,” said Fenton, waving her out. As soon as the door shut, he exhaled in relief. He loved his M’ma, but boy, was she smothering sometimes.
A little while later, Fenton heard a car horn outside his window. His excitement spiked in his chest and he practically tumbled out the door into the living room. “I’m leaving, M’ma! Love you, see you at dinner, bye!”
It all came out as one word as he bolted out of the house, but M’ma understood it perfectly anyway. Her own motherly instinct spiking, she carefully placed the sudsy plate she was sponging back into the sink and made her way to the front window. Peeking through the blinds, she saw Fenton and Gyro leaning against the latter’s car. Gyro, dressed in a black beanie, black t-shirt whose band logo she didn’t recognize, black skinny jeans, and black boots despite the blazing temperature outside had his phone held up high, Fenton in his other arm as they posed for a picture. M’ma sighed, seeing wisps of smoke emit from the cigarette in Gyro’s mouth. She knew Fenton was at the age where she could let go some and let him live his life, but darn it if he didn’t make so hard to do so. Still, it was the price of the gig and she would love him and support him to the ends of the earth no matter what.
As the camera shutter clicked, Gyro caught sight of Mrs. Cabrera peeping at them through the front window of Fenton’s house and sent a dark sneer in her direction. She was unfazed, police women usually weren’t, and made the “I have my eyes on you” motion toward him before letting the blinds go and returning to whatever it is she was doing. Gyro rolled his eyes.
“What’s up?” said Fenton.
“Parents,” Gyro scoffed.
“She means well, I promise. She bought me this the other day.” He motioned toward his pink shirt with a kooky character on the front from that one Invader Zir show on TV.
“Well, that’s something. You’ll get tons of likes when I post this on ThisSpace later.”
“D’ya think we’ll make front page?” Fenton bounced on his toes at the thought.
Gyro blushed. Gods, he was so cute. All he could do was shrug and give him a peck on the forehead, then walked over to the driver’s seat of his all-black rustbucket. As Gyro and Fenton peeled away from suburban hell, engine sputtering all the while, he asked, “You mind if we stop at Starducks first? I feel like the undead.”
“Fine with me. Maybe I’ll try that new hibiscus refresher they have.”
“You’re so fruity, dork.”
“You’re my boyfriend so who’s really the fruity one?”
“...touche.”
Gyro pressed the play button, and the two lovebirds entered their pure nirvana set to a CD in a stereo.
Dance, dance
We’re falling apart to half-time
Dance, dance
And these are the lives you love to lead
Dance, this is the way they’d love
If they knew how misery loved me

Fenton: Who is one person you felt you haven’t had enough interactions with and wish to hang out with more?
Fenton: To be perfectly honest, I would chose my father.
Tumblr media
Fenton: My father and mother divorced when I was very young, and for about a year after that, he moved away from Duckburg because he was offered a better job on the other side of the country. He sends me cards and gifts on birthdays and holidays, and I get a phone call a few times a year. I had visited him a few times, but he's been so busy he didn't have a lot of time for me. However about the time that I graduated from High School, he's been hard to get a hold of. I haven't seen him for about four years, but he still sends a few cards. The last time I tried calling him, his phone was out of service, and I don't know how else to get in contact with him.
But Mama tells me that my father is resourceful and knows how to land on his feet. Wherever he is, he's probably doing well, more than likely better than well.
Emilou: Here's a few facts about Fenton's father (Headcannon of course). His name is Hamilton Crackshell. He's 47 years old, and an accountant. He's been called a savant when it comes to counting, and he's gotten in trouble several times for counting cards while gambling. (He's been banned from Monte Carlo and Atlanta City). He was married to Maria Cabrera for six years, and he left her for another woman when Fenton was about four years of age. He's smart, he's charming, he's a snappy dresser, and he is even charitable. His biggest downfall is that he rarely settles down, basically has a wanderlust for moving from one big thing to another. He also has a wandering eye. His longest relationship had been with Maria Cabrera, who had hoped to change him when she married him.

ꕥ — WELCOME TO NEFE COSMIA, FENTON CRACKSHELL-CABRERA. 🌓
Tumblr media
ꕥ  — OOC INFORMATION;
name / alias: Twin age: 21+ pronouns: She/They ooc contact: Twin_Destinies on twitter other characters in xc: Nicholas Rush, Dex-Starr
  ꕥ  — IC INFORMATION;
name: Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera age: 21 pronouns: He/Him series: DuckTales (2017)
canon point: Post show
app triggers: Animal harm implications (he’s a duck fighting crime)
personality: Fenton is an extremely kind duck who is always thinking about how best to help those around him, even if it means long nights working or even putting himself in dangerous situations. He’s not afraid of risking everything to assist, even beyond the realm of science.
He’s a very earnest, honest young duck who can sometimes be a little naive at the end of the day. He wants to believe in the good of others and trusts everyone probably more than he should. Despite being such a smart duck, he’s not jaded or disenchanted with the world around him, and is willing to believe in others. Even after they’ve betrayed him, he wants to think they can bounce back or that they may have had some reason for doing what they did.
He believes strongly in everyone’s ability to change and grow and that everyone has goodness inside them somewhere.
His good natured resolve to help others does tend to land him in dangerous situations. He can be reckless in his pursuit of knowledge and heroics, often thinking a situation through after landing directly in the middle of a large mess. He means well, but that doesn’t always work in his favor.
something your muse struggles with: self worth
your muse’s greatest strength: willingness to help those in need no matter what.
history / background: Fenton was a young intern who worked for Scrooge Mcduck and directly under Dr. Gearloose. Though he loved his job, he never felt fully appreciated and Gearloose often treating him more like a maid or punching bag than an actual scientist. Still, he wanted to create things that would help the world, and also keep Gearloose’s inventions from eventually turning evil and attacking everyone in town (as they sometimes did.)
His good intentions backfired, however, after it was revealed that he accidentally released Gearloose’s blueprints online to help source a solution to them turning evil, and due to that recklessness a competitor was about to steal Gearloose’s inventions and go public with a brand new automated driver. Due to his error, he was fired without a second thought, and left without a means to pursue his science or help the world.
Eventually, Fenton found himself in a sticky situation. That super intelligent robotic car that had been a stolen design kidnapped his boss, his boss’s boss, and some of his friends and went on a wild rampage, endangering them and everyone around them in the process. Though Fenton had been fired, he didn’t hesitate to use another experiment from the lab, the Gizmoduck Armor, to save those in need regardless of his own safety. His efforts were eventually rewarded with Gearloose rescinding his firing and allowing him to continue to work at the lab and with the suit.
As time went on, the Gizmoduck armor became a passion project for Fenton. He worked to understand it and use it properly, often falling into trouble he would then have to clean up. But he loved using the suit to protect those in need. He wanted to understand it more and more, and eventually even synced it directly with his brain for better control of it, while also ensuring no one else could use it for evil unless he reset the program himself.
Gizmoduck became a popular hero in the city and beyond, and he used his powers to help maintain harmony whenever a massive calamity struck. Despite being young and inexperienced, he was there at every world-ending event (common in Duckburg) to assist. He helped stop an invasion from the moon and an evil organization bent on wiping out all adventure from the world. He even made friends with other heroes, like Darkwing Duck, to further his ability to defend those in need.
But that didn’t mean he wasn’t still focused on science and inventing. With the help of his love interest, Gandra, he created a virtual space where anything could be invented and tested safely. Which, of course, had a few bugs to work out and had to be saved from a villain attempting to steal it, but other than that it was totally fine and useful!
His adventures continued and while there were plenty of blunders along the way, he continued to be the best hero he could be.
powers / abilities: These aren’t abilities natural to him but are upgrades to the Gizmoduck armor:
Arm Armor - The armor on his arms can become shields to protect himself and others.
Elbow Grease - An oil slick he can shoot from his elbow.
Finger lasers - Lasers that shoot from his fingers.
Gluteal Grapnel - It’s uh. It’s a grappling hook from his butt.
Helmet Copter - A small helicopter propeller that pops out of his helmet. Often accompanied by a jet on his back.
Midriff Missiles - Just what it sounds like!
Parachute - Usually from his pecs but it can actually launch from a few places.
Pie Cannon - They come in a variety of flavors!
Shoulder Blades - spinning blades that can cut through most things.
Other abilities demonstrated by the suit include: The ability to extend the suits arms, leg and midsection to various lengths, the ability to make his finger a pen, various types of missiles and explosives beyond the midriff cannon, bagpipes, can shoot pulses of plasma-like energy,
inherent abilities: Super genius intellect
items / weapons:
Gizmoduck Armor: The gizmoduck armor is a large battle-ready suit of armor on one wheel that’s controlled by Fenton’s brain. It’s coded specifically to him and must be reset for another user to gain access to it. This armor takes his height from around 4.5 feet to over 7 and comes with an assortment of equipment and abilities. Primary non-unique weapons and functions include (ie stuff just natural to the suit and not really things I can split from it to earn back later):  super strength, super speed (hypersonic), high durability, self destruct and override controls, and the ability to work even in portions (IE he can wear just the arm for a shield if needed)
starting ability: None starting item: Gizmoduck armor (no upgrades, just the basic functions)
extra: Quack (link to doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kr_X5hBOW6siEzA4djIf_nntyo5_auulSamuN8zIrIo/edit?usp=sharing )

You strongly implied that Mads is being abused by Akita in your new au. After reading the brilliant ideas that other person sent in- in this case, specifically about Gyro finding out something is wrong only through Fenton's changed behavior concerning Mads- I'm just curious, does Fenton not tell Gyro at first what's going on with Mads? If not, is it out of respect for their privacy?
And when Gyro does find out, even tho he doesn't really care about Mads, how does he feel when he learns about what Mads is going through at Akita's hands? Does he sympathize, after his own history with Akita?? (I'm not entirely sure exactly how *physically* abusive you hc Akita was to Gyro in general- I hc he definitely wasn't above sometimes hitting him, and roughly shoving him to the floor ((and maybe then giving him a kick for good measure)) or against a wall, when he wasn't often threatening him- but how would you say Mads' abuse compared to Gyro's?)
Well, Fenton doesn't find out what's actually going on for a while. He has his suspicions and worries, but he doesn't want to possibly turn something into a big deal that isn't. I don't know when he goes to Gyro about it tho.
Oh yeah, Gyro definitely does feel bad. Idk, actually! I think in canon he probably wasn't physically abusive because I don't think the show would go that dark? But also they did have a slap fight so. who knows.

[Okay. It has been 2 years, and seeing that I probably won't have more ideas for now, I may as well post it...]
[I made some corrections to the text in 2022, but if you see something cringy, that's probably my cringy 2020 self. not that I'm not cringy now]
[Edits are shown in [] and italic]
[Just...please try not to cringe too hard...Thank you _(:3 」∠)_]
Ducktales x Persona
(Extreme cringe and angst ahead.)
(You may understand this more if you have played Persona 5, since P5 is the main Persona concept I am going to reference.)
So...Basically, I try to give (some) Ducktales characters a “Palace”.
A “Palace” is the equivalent of a game stage/dungeon in Persona 5. It is the manifestation of a character’s subconscious, so it shows the character’s inner, most genuine fear/anger/sorrow etc.
Being a Persona/Ducktales fan, I try to describe what the characters’ “Palaces” may look like.
——————————————————
(Some forewords...)
→ Despite using the “metaverse” concept from Persona 5, the sentiments present in Palaces here are more like those in Persona 4. As in, the Palace designs I use will sheer more towards empathy for the characters rather than hatred. So my designs of Palaces will focus more on personal struggles (Persona 4) than greed (Persona 5). You are trying to save them, not destroy them.
→ I try to be less cheesy, such as placing Scrooge in a bank or Fethry in an aquarium. I will try to be more creative.
→ Some characters are...well, “less developed” in canon (*cough* glomgold *cough*), so there will be some headcanons from me. I try to keep them to a minimum, but a necessary minimum (to the point of at least having some angst).
—————————————————
This is the format I will be using:
(Character)
Location = The actual location which the Palace is based on
Distortion = How the character imagines the place to be
Palace Master = “Shadow”. How the character imagines themself to be in the Palace
Rationale = Why I give the character this Palace design (this will be rather long)
I know this is very vague, but I don’t want to spoil anything. I hope you can understand more clearly as we go on.
With that out of the way, let’s do this.
(Some actual Persona music for this long read:
Persona 4 - Heaven
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ybaVWcH_zBQ
Persona 5 - The Days When My Mother Was There
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=W_SosS9S8bw
Don’t...search for any context if you don’t want spoilers.)
——————————————————
Donald Duck
Location: His house boat
Distortion: Deserted Island
Palace Master: A castaway
Rationale: (This is probably the only character I don’t need a headcanon)
Donald is constantly being ridiculed throughout the Disney history: In the classic era, retro series and modern cartoons...Donald’s biggest characteristics are his extremely bad luck and incapability in...everything. Donald‘s misfortune mostly makes him the butt of the joke. Unlike Goofy (who is also extremely incapable), however, Donald actually has emotions about his misadventures. But this emotion is almost always manifested as anger, which is, again, what makes Donald the joke.
Donald has the blessing of having the biggest (developed) family as a Disney character. My Palace design is based on Donald and his view of family. Although he is always shown as a family man (well, except for some of the classic shorts), it is...not always shown that his family reciprocates his feelings.
Limiting to DT17, the kids (HDL) are old enough to take care of themselves. If they ever need an adult figure (for life advice/emotional support), they have Scrooge (Season 1) or Della (Season 2~). With DT17 introducing the biological parent of HDL, Donald’s role as a caretaker...diminishes. Not to mention him still being a joke in his family with his bad luck, overprotectiveness (and...voice?) (There are too many examples for this, such as in “House of the Lucky Gander” (Season 1), “Moonvasion” (Season 2), and the recent “Quack Pack” and “Louie’s Eleven”(Season 3)).
The reason why I choose his house boat, and make it a Deserted Island, is to demonstrate the point of how close yet how far Donald is to his family. His house boat was where his family once lived, and now resides next to where his family currently lives. Donald and his boat are always physically close to his family, but how close are they to his family emotionally? Donald’s dilemma in his Palace will be him wanting his family to value him, thus find and rescue him; Yet also wanting to stay on the island alone, away from the cold truth that his family will never accept him. That he is not needed anymore.
——————————————————
Scrooge McDuck
Location: McDuck Manor
Distortion: Silent Night Cemetery
Palace Master: Cemetery caretaker
Rationale: If this was really a game, the protagonists would think that the Cemetery represented Scrooge’s fear of death and thus losing all of his hard-earned money. Until they met the Palace Master. No. This wasn't Scrooge’s cemetery.
A headcanon (that is...sort of canon?) is that Scrooge is immortal (or at least, very long-living). He’s at least 100 years old by now. (Flintheart was a lad when they first met, and Flintheart should be at least 40 now. Scrooge already looked rather old at that time, and his appearance didn't change much) The official description (?) states that “the spirit of adventure keeps him young” (sort of), but I think Scrooge somehow has his age magically frozen, similar to Goldie and his parents.
Being immortal, however, has the curse of seeing your mortal family and friends pass away. A headcanon of mine is that Gideon McDuck, Scrooge’s younger brother, has passed away from old age. Ludwig von Drake is also presumedly dead [edit in 2021: not anymore], and Duckworth is certified dead. When Della went missing, and Donald left him, Scrooge started to fear his family and friends being separated from him as the years pass.
This is also why I think he hates Christmas. (For some reason that I can’t think of,) The Ghost of Christmas Past takes Scrooge on an annual trip back to the past on Christmas Day, when all of his friends and family were still alive/present. This reminds him that his beloved ones will one day leave him, like they do in the present.
The Cemetery is where Scrooge’s friends and family rest in peace. Scrooge, as the cemetery caretaker, has to relive the memories he had made with them, and the tombstones and graves will always remind him the sad truth that everyone he loves will be taken away by time.
If there’s one thing that money can’t buy, it’s time.
——————————————————
Flintheart Glomgold
Location: Scrooge’s Money Bin (symbolises “success”)
Distortion: “Totally Non-Luck-Based D&D Game”
Palace Master: An unfortunate adventurer
Rationale: My favourite Palace design. The title is obviously not true: The D&D game is obviously luck-based.
(This headcanon is a bit long. I plan to write a story about it, but let me describe it here in a third-person view.)
[Edit in 2022: I did one. Though it's not the same story idea, the sentiment is the same. I will post it in the future along with others I have finished. the original story idea is a kinda scromgold story in which flintheart loses the bet he made at the end of "The Ballad of Duke Baloney", goes to scrooge's office and cries and confesses on scrooge's shoulder]
A headcanon of mine is that Flintheart is not fundamentally an evil individual. The only way he can make money, however, is through evil ways.
As shown in Ducktales ‘17, Flintheart is from South Africa. At that time, South Africa was generally less developed than Scotland. Flintheart was one of the many who lived in poverty (I know, he looks very well-fed in DT17. I don’t even know why he’s shoe-shining anyway. Let’s adapt his original DT17 design/DT87 design for this headcanon, okay?)
Flintheart and his family were starving to death when he met Scrooge. Flintheart resorted to shoe-shining to earn a loaf of beard for his family, yet wasn’t able to make a dollar out of it for days.
When Scrooge finally became his first customer, Flintheart was so delighted that he gushed out his entire (desperate thus unrealistic) plan to make money, only to be criticised by Scrooge.
To make it worse, when Scrooge underpaid him before stating that he is the richest duck in the world, Flintheart felt extremely humiliated. I am starving to death, and you, a billionaire, won’t even spare a dollar to save me? Flintheart viewed Scrooge’s action as looking down upon him, delightfully watching him starve and suffer.
To survive, Flintheart had his hands tied. He resorted to the lowest yet quickest way to make money: Stealing. In fact, he used his first stack of banknotes to feed his family.
After that incident, Flintheart vowed to out-rich (?) Scrooge, in order to show him the humiliation of being (relatively) poor and a failure.
This is where the “luck” part comes in play. Flintheart heard that Scrooge comes from Scotland, so he gathered all his hard-earned money, and travelled to Scotland to make a profit. However, when he arrived, Scotland was in a state of depression. Not only did Flintheart not make a profit, but he also lost his first bucket of gold.
On the other hand, however, Scrooge travelled to the US, and economy was thriving there. Scrooge became richer, while Flintheart became poorer.
Throughout the years, Flintheart grasped many investment chances, only for them to end in failure. This led to Flintheart being conditioned into thinking the only way he can make money is through malicious ways. And this is, sadly, the truth.
In fact, Flintheart viewed (and still views) Scrooge as an idol. That’s why he adopted his motto of “Tougher than the toughies and smarter than the smarties” when he started. But when everything failed, Flintheart started to grow cold.
Flintheart knows he has already lost to Scrooge, and can never best him.
Scrooge always brands that his success has nothing to do with luck (in my headcanon: this is not true), and Flintheart once shared his view of success as well. But when being unlucky is like a curse to him, Flintheart started to doubt his idol’s point of view.
Back to the Palace, this is the view of success in Flintheart’s eyes. The world always tells Flintheart that “success is 100% hard-work and 0% luck”. He once believed that, and that had led to his demise and disappointment.
“Totally Non-Luck-Based” is what Scrooge tells him, but everything he encounters in life is “Totally Luck-Based”.
Flintheart plays an extremely unlucky adventurer in the D&D Game. He strongly believes that the D&D Game can be beaten with sheer determination, but every dice roll is unfavourable to him. In time, the adventurer starts to lose hope, symbolising the real-life event in Flintheart’s past.
(Yes. I know a “Monopoly” game fits this situation more. But a D&D game is the first luck-based game I have in my mind...)
(In fact, I think the whole “The Ballad of Duke Baloney” episode, despite seemingly giving Flintheart character development, is supposed to consolidate Flintheart’s image as a joke. Or at least, as an undesirable side effect to me. Not that I don’t like him being a funny little man, but...well, I like things grim and gritty.)
(Speaking of grim and gritty...)
——————————————————
Jim Starling
Location: Duckburg (really)
Distortion: St. Canard (yes)
Palace Master: Darkwing Duck (I’m serious)
Rationale: (I know it sounds stupid but this is not a joke)
You heard of the saying that “cartoon characters never age”? I mean, Bugs Bunny just had his 80th [at that time] birthday, and he’s still that young carrot-munching wabbit (now a meme lord too).
Well, this Palace is Jim’s manifestation of that saying.
My headcanon (that can also be canon) is that Jim fears ageing. “Darkwing Duck” the character is a toon. Darkwing will never age. But Jim the actor is a person (err...duck). Jim will age.
And he does age. A lot. According to the IMDB (I take that as canon), he’s (probably) 28 when he played Darkwing. His age at least doubles now.
During those years in between, Jim always looked at his past posters, screenshots and videos as Darkwing. How can Darkwing go against the current of time? Darkwing is still the silly, energetic hero. But Jim? He’s nothing more than a bag of bones with deep wrinkles and ruffled feathers, a shadow of his former self. Darkwing still looks slick, but Jim looks pathetic.
Jim not wanting Drake to take his place as Darkwing is not solely a sign of false ownership (thinking that Darkwing the character can only belong to Jim). It is also a sign of wanting to feel young again when he is given that once-in-a-lifetime chance.
Only on stage, donning that oversized fedora and purple cape, can Jim relive his life again when he’s 28. Only as Darkwing, can Jim enjoy the fame and glory he once had.
Darkwing is his only chance. And Drake Mallard takes it away from him.
The Palace is the manifestation of Jim’s desire to actually become Darkwing Duck. The Terror that Flaps in the Night. The hero of St. Canard.
The toon that never ages.
——————————————————
Fethry Duck
Location: McDuck Sub-lab
Distortion: “The Magic World of Fethry” (a collection of fairy tale world spaces)
Palace Master: (Variable, titular/main characters of mentioned fairy tales)
Rationale: (I admit this is a bit weird, but hear me out. If this was a real game, (Atlus pls hire me lol) Fethry would still be physically trapped in the Sub-lab when the protagonists entered the Palace.)
In my opinion, Fethry is someone that grew up too fast. Although by no means is Fethry considered “a child” (he’s at least 30? Given that Don is 36), Fethry is pure, innocent, and thus, vulnerable. His mentality can be compared with that of a child.
My headcanon regarding why Fethry is in the Sub-lab is because Scrooge deliberately trapped him inside. Scrooge might just want to get rid of him, or, kill him. His only form of communication with the outside world is the tin can (which is obviously unreliable, further proving that Scrooge doesn’t want Fethry to get help and get out), and he desperately uses it to call for help.
(Also, in this version, Don is not there when the tin can “rings”, i.e. he doesn't ignore the calls because he can't hear them in the first place. Because I cannot imagine Don being stupid enough to not realise the danger of an abandoned underwater facility, or evil enough to let his cousin die.)
The fairy tales in Fethry’s Palace are reflections of Fethry’s story. The ones I choose are Alice in Wonderland, Little Red Riding Hood, Little Mermaid and Rapunzel, in order of appearance in the Palace.
Alice in Wonderland symbolises “growing-up”. One of the theories about the message of Alice in Wonderland is the growth of Alice from a child to an adult (I just know this theory exists, please don’t challenge me on that). The things she sees in the Wonderland are symbols of adulthood, and the enlarging (?) effect of the “Eat Me” pastry symbolises the beginning of transition. As seen in Alice in Wonderland, everything Alice encounters happens in at most a few days, showing her rapid growth and exposure to the adult world. This correlates to Fethry being exposed to the adult world too fast, such that he still retains the innocent nature of a child, without any sense of danger.
Little Red Riding Hood symbolises “lies”. From the wolf lying to make the girl pick flowers, to pretending to be her grandmother, Little Red Riding Hood is most likely a “stranger danger” cautionary tale. But the concept of “deception” is unheard of to a child, thus the girl accepts everything the wolf tells her without questioning. This correlates to Fethry possibly being lied to by Scrooge that he would be a scientist by staying at the Sub-lab, so as to lure Fethry to the abandoned facility and let nature kill him off.
Little Mermaid is the climax of the Palace exploration, symbolising “betrayal”. The mermaid saves the prince from danger, even endures humiliation and agony to become a human just to be with the prince. However, albeit everything she has done for him, the prince betrays her and marries a princess. The mermaid wants to kill the prince for revenge and salvation, as she will die if she doesn’t become a mermaid again with his blood. Yet, due to purity and love for the prince, she cannot bring herself to do so, and will rather accept death. This correlates to Fethry being betrayed by Scrooge, the one and only uncle he faithfully trusted and loved. Nevertheless, although the great pain Scrooge has inflicted on him, Fethry cannot bring himself to hate Scrooge, and forgives him after an (possible) apology from him.
Rapunzel symbolises “rescue”. The message is simple: Rapunzel awaits a prince to rescue her from the tower, just like Fethry awaiting someone to save him from the laboratory. I believe his “prince charming” would be Donald or Abner, his favourite cousin or his beloved elder brother.
——————————————————
Gladstone Gander
Location: House of the Lucky Fortune (the casino)
Distortion: Luck Vampire Castle
Palace Master: The Luck Vampire
Rational: (Hoo boy I do love plot twists)
When the protagonists first entered/sensed the Palace (not through the Metaverse app because the name of the Palace Master is needed), they would think the Palace belonged to Liu Hai. It belonged to Gladstone.
The Palace represents Gladstone’s fear of his luck bringing misfortune to his family. Gladstone views himself as a “Luck Vampire”. He takes the luck of those around him to keep himself lucky. As a result, his family always encounters misfortune because of him. The most obvious (and damaged) victim is, of course, Donald.
Gladstone thus distances himself from his family to keep them from harm, moving to Macaw and being a twat to make them hate him. He doesn’t open up his concern to them, because, knowing the Duck family, they will be like “it’s okay we are a family we will surely make it through together”. However, Gladstone’s “luck-sucking” tendency is magical. Nothing can stop it. You can’t just “make it through”. You can only endure it.
My headcanon is that Gladstone deliberately fell for Liu Hai’s thunder cross split attack trap, so as to isolate himself and as a punishment for himself. Otherwise, how would someone as lucky as Gladstone fall for a trap? However, as the torture and loneliness became more and more severe, Gladstone gave into his survival instinct and called for help, caught in a dilemma of selfishness and selflessness.
——————————————————
(2021 addition)
(So the styling may be different)
Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera
Location: The lab under the Money Bin (aka Fenton’s workplace)
Distortion: “The Amazing Gizmoduck’s Theatre”
Palace Master: “Gizmoduck”
Rationale: (ayy yo me here to throw angst at your boi) (also definitely not a nod to mr miranda being a theatre star)
(I haven’t written a design in like a year, so please excuse the inconsistent format...)
The Palace symbolises Fenton to actually become Gizmoduck, similar to Jim’s, but for a different purpose.
Gizmoduck and Fenton are the same person, but their lives are very different.
Gizmoduck. Protector of Duckburg. Bodyguard of the richest duck in the world. National hero. Selfless crime-fighter. Possesses many powers. (Outwardly) Confident. Loved by many. Admired by more.
Now look at Fenton. Just a nameless intern indirectly working under Scrooge. Nobody knows him. Clumsy. Careless. Unlucky. Shy and self-depreciative. Constantly berated by his boss Gyro. Constantly being made to do trivial things out of his job description, such as coffee and food delivery. Thought he found someone really appreciating him, only to be betrayed.
Gizmoduck is a success, but Fenton is a failure.
Only when donning the Gizmosuit will Fenton feel powerful, successful, appreciated.
Of course Fenton would like people to appreciate him as he is. So he doesn’t have to risk getting hurt to be loved. So he doesn’t have to pretend to be another person to be loved.
But when Fenton looks at himself...How can someone so pathetic be loved? How can someone such a failure deserves any appreciation?
The Palace reflects Fenton wanting to become Gizmoduck. Gizmoduck is who people love. Gizmoduck is who people admire. Fenton? Fenton who?
The Palace Master is Gizmoduck, the star in the theatre. Not Fenton. Also not Fenton in Gizmosuit. As the Palace Master reflects the character’s inner persona, this Gizmoduck is 100% Gizmoduck. Not related to that failure of a Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera.
So, this Gizmoduck will only answer to people calling him “Gizmoduck”. Calling him “Fenton” will make him confused. Calling him “Intern” will make him angry.
Also, there is a “Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera” in the theatre Palace (a “cognition”, for any P5 player). This Fenton is, on paper, an actor. However, his job consists of being an usher, a ticket salesman, a janitor, and anything but an actor. This Fenton is also extremely submissive, withdrawn, and pessimistic, a direct opposite of Gizmoduck.
The goal of solving this Palace is to let Fenton know that he, Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, is loved. They love him as Gizmoduck, but love him more as Fenton.
(Okay yes this design is inspired by someone in Persona 5, specifically Persona 5 Royal. You will know immediately if you have played the game.)

I like the idea that if young gyro ever came to the present, he'd be in LOVE w Fenton and Gyro would be so jealous annoyed by it that he'd compete with himself lol
...
...don't ask why young gyro is giving fenton..prongs..???

I headcannon that Gyro is like in between the age of 35 and 45, where as Fenton is in between the ages of 19 and 25. Basically Gyro gives me angsty grumpy middle aged man vibes and Fenton gives me just out of college young adult vibes.
