#you're all welcome if you don't want trump to win

Note
I think it's important to realize that pointing out hypocrisy is an appeal to shame. It doesn't work because it reinforces the Trump Voter (and I use the phrase as euphemism) has the power to be inconsistent without facing consequences, but you do not.
It's something I'm learning while trying to figure out how to deal with a (likely) narcissist in my family. It's a tough lesson because you can't win a fight with them, they're extremely good at redirecting, conflating, and modifying the terms of the fight until you're actually the bad guy for bringing it up.
I don't mean "you can't win" in the hopeless sense, I mean it more literally. There is no way you can defeat them in a fight, because their capacity for mental gymnastics is so strong that they literally can't lose--in their own minds, anyway. Even if you manage to score a few rhetorical points, all you're actually doing is giving them ammunition for the next fight.
So instead, you move on without them. You change your life to be what you want it to be, and they are only welcome to tag along if they behave. You beat them by outlasting them, by building things they can't get into, and (in a lot of cases) by refusing to give them what they want until they go somewhere else.
I don't know how we're going to survive Trump's Return. But I know he's widely regarded as a pretty textbook narcissist, and he's got an army of sycophants backing him up. He didn't need any of us to win. But we also don't really need him, we've got each other, and we're better than him and all of his supporters.
hey, can you talk about how shame doesn't really work to make ppl change views? I'm surrounded by libs who are like "if I call Trump voters stupid enough it will work" even though it hasn't worked for the last 10 years
im tired boss
Well, if we want to talk about the psychological mechanics that explain why shame doesn't work I have articles and books on that, which I'm assuming you're already familiar with. But what you're really asking here isn't why shame doesn't work, but how you can get your lib friends to stop utilizing shame, and the truth is, you can't. They're using shame because it FEELS GOOD TO THEM. Shame is reinforcing for the *shamer* because it helps them to feel righteous and correct and like they don't have any additional work to do in understanding the shamed person's perspective. And the liberal psyche is particularly attuned to finding that attractive for a variety of reasons, especially their class position in the world.

i’ve made and deleted this post quite a few times over the last couple of days. and at first, i wasn’t going to say anything because this doesn’t even cover what i wanted to say by even a little, but ultimately, seeing a few others make similar posts encouraged me, and i really just need to get this off my chest, and if it resonates with one person, then i’m happy. this is not coherent at all, but like many, my brain is mush, so forgive me, and here we go...
as a (closeted) queer palestinian american woman, a daughter to immigrant parents, living in a fairly conservative state, i’m fucking terrified. i don’t have faith my rights are protected here. i don’t have faith that my parents and my sisters will be safe every time they step out of the house (in true typical arab fashion; i am white passing, they are not). my family has been targeted and met with violence numerous times since october of last year, and it's only going to get worse. which brings me to my next point.
i also don’t have faith that the genocide in gaza (that has now expanded to south lebanon and syria) is coming to an end, an end where palestinians can live and thrive in their native land anytime soon. and seeing people turn on us — so fast, spewing hate in saying “fuck palestine”, “fuck boycotting and “you don’t care about my rights, so i don’t care about yours,” is incredibly saddening, disappointing, and infuriating. my grief, anger, and anxiety are at their peak and have been at their peak for well over a year now. and i don't have the brain capacity to say what i really want to say about the hatred and misplaced anger being directed towards arabs, but for now i will say this:
now is not the time to turn on one another. now is not the time for infighting within marginalized groups. now is not the time to be selfish. to care about yourselves and not others, makes you no better than them. that is why this country is so divisive in the first place. that is how we got here. having that mentality — that ideology is dangerous and destructive. you are doing the work for white supremacists. you are perpetuating white supremacy. and it isn’t going to serve any of us because essentially our struggles as oppressed groups are deeply interconnected. we need to look out for one another. take care of one another. it will get worse before it gets better. and we’re only at the tip of the iceberg.
the fight isn’t over; we’re just getting started. and i know you’re tired; i, for one, am at my breaking point. but we cannot let them win. so let yourself feel whatever it is you need to feel right now: grief, anger, sadness, hurt, whatever it is; it's all valid, and believe me, you are not alone. take the time to feel it. and then let it fuel you and your ambitions.
i also want to reiterate that this is a safe space for all. except anyone who believes trump is a good man and voted for that racist, fascist, rapist piece of shit. y’all can fuck right off. the rest of you: disabled people, chronically ill people, queer people, aro-ace people (i’m specifically pointing you out because i know how we're treated in queer spaces, and it is not fair nor is it right), trans people, women, people of color, sexual assault survivors — if you're reading this and you're unsure of your place, please stay. i need you. i care about you. this place and this world are better with you in it. you are welcome here. you are safe here.
i’ll be here for anyone who needs it, whether it’s to chat about silly little fandom things — it’s imperative we protect this space and continue to encourage the creation of art around here. it’s imperative we stop normalizing the censorship and policing of fandom spaces (because that's another reason how we got here). fandom spaces are communities, and very often they are the only spaces where people feel safe. for most (myself included), it’s all we have left — or whether you want to vent about how much you hate the state of the world — you'll always have a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on in this tiny little nook here. seriously. my inbox and dm's are always open.
hold each other close. protect one another. the only way we’re going to get through this is if we stand together and continue putting in the work, because it’s times like this when the real work begins.
i’m sending you all so so much love. forever and always.
noelle xx

some leftists, even those who will vote for Kamala Harris while holding their nose, make claims like, "fascism doesn't just go away if you vote against it" & while there are those out there who do feel this way (or at least want to) there are MANY who know that something like Project 2025 doesn't just go away if they lose their chance to implement it nationwide.
a leftist responded to one of my comments on facebook when i mentioned something about "accelerationists." it was only part of my comment & not even my point. they were SO offended by me calling "all of them that" when i did no such thing. what i see is that leftists who claim they're above everyone because they don't fall for propaganda that easily are proving they are just as human as the rest of us & only read what they want to read.
i get it: the US has A LOT of issues. this is not a great country. there are so many things i want to see get changed for the better. there are plenty of folks who feel the same while not identifying themselves as far left.
one other issue i have: i mention Ernst Thälmann quite a bit in my political posts. he was a German politician & leader of the Communist Party of Germany. he regarded the Social Democratic Party as "social fascists" which made it harder for the two leftist parties to work together. when he ran for office again in 1933 he lost by a landslide & Hitler took office. Thälmann was arrested by the Gestapo & sent to Buchenwald. his party rival, Walter Ulbricht, ignored requests to plead for his release & Thälmann was eventually shot & killed on Hitler's personal command.
when i brought up Thälmann recently, someone commented, "yeah, don't be like the guy who wanted to beat fascism but vote them in instead." that is NOT what i meant & these folks who claim they're the smartest ever because they don't like the US (that's actually a low bar; plenty if people dislike it) like to pretend they don't see my point. my only point is this: we are stronger together regardless of your normal party affiliation. working apart? making purity politics your hill to die on? it won't help us & we probably won't like how that'll turn out.
leftists who don't see the forest for the trees: you're right, you can't just "vote fascism away." the issue is your wanting to be superior to the rest of us is you may be part of what helps them get that kind of power. you're not the MAIN problem; our justice system is garbage & there's decades of poor education & people have been falling for propaganda & people are voting for anyone who is as hateful & ignorant as they are. my point in saying to not be an Ernst Thälmann is: don't tear us apart because of even slightly different ideologies. we need to work together. start at the local level. please remember it's not just the president; Congress & the Supreme Court are also filled to the brim with corruption.
#us politics#american politics#leftists#anyone can fall for propaganda#anyone can take something out of context#anyone fighting against what the gop has become needs to be welcome#keeping us all apart is a major problem#voting third party won't solve anything & only hurts the major party closer to your goals#america is awful in a lot of ways#there are pockets of fascism everywhere#and our government has been fascist to indigenous & non-white people for ever#but good things can happen if we work together starting at local level#yes call out the president#but i hope you're doing the same to members of congress#y'all act like our government is already a monarchy#even if the president doesn't wish for somrthing to happen Congress is the one that can make it awful too#liberals#conservatives#libertarians#centrists#moderates#democrats#republicans#you're all welcome if you don't want trump to win

i registered to vote for the first time ( i feel old) now that im an adult but my state has closed primary elections which i was wondering if you have an opinion about. my initial thought was that its bad because i had to register democrat (rather than my states green party which represents my beliefs more) just so i could vote between democrat candidates, which feels like being pressured into supporting the weird pseudo two party system we have. but then i looked it up and apparently a reason for this is so that people from opposing parties wont purposefully mess up the votes just so that their preferred candidates have an easier time winning, and i think that makes sense too. but is that actually the reason theyve closed it or is it just to force us dem/republican?? cause it feels strange
Okay, look. I respect the fact that you're a young person, and I appreciate that you have not only registered to vote, but plan to vote in the primaries, so I don't want to lecture you too much. That said: I am taking you out for coffee, I am sitting you down, I am looking into your eyes, and I am urgently telling you the following:
The Green Party is a scam. It is a scam. It has existed for decades in American politics as an empty shell corporation weaponizing the good intentions of young people like yourself, because all it theoretically stands for "it's good to save the planet maybe." Which is not something that any non-insane person seriously disagrees with, but there is no world in which that cause is actually furthered by registering/voting Green (you mentioned that you did vote for Democrats, which -- good, but listen to me here, youngun, okay?) It ran Jill Stein in 2016 to siphon more votes from HRC, and this election it plans to run Cornel West, a pro-Russian tankie who positively equated Bernie and Trump, as another spoiler candidate. It does not stand for "protecting the planet" or America in any real way. It has never elected a single senator or congressman, let alone a president. It stands for empty performance/grievance political theater by those people who feel too morally superior to vote for/affiliate with Democrats, often because the internet has told them that it's not Cool or Hip or Progressive enough.
If your main priority is climate/the environment, you're doing the right thing by registering as a Democrat and voting for Democrats. (Also: the adjectival form is Democratic. It is the Democratic party and Democratic candidates, otherwise you sound like the Fox News host who wrote a book literally entitled "The Democrat Party Hates America.") They are the only major party who has in fact passed major climate legislation and have made environmental justice a central tenet of their platform. As opposed to the Republicans, whose Project 2025, along with the rest of its nightmare fascist prescriptions, openly pledges to completely wreck existing climate protections and forbid any new ones, just because we weren't all dying fast enough under their death-cult rule already. That's the main logical fallacy I don't get among both the Online Leftists and the American electorate in general: "the Democrats aren't doing quite enough as I'd like, so I'll enable the active wrecking ball insane lunatics to get in power and ruin even the progress we HAVE managed to make!" Like. How does that even make sense?
On a federal level, the Greens have contributed nothing whatsoever of tangible value to American or international climate policy/legislation, environmental justice, or anything else, because as noted, they don't have any elected candidates and mostly focus on drawing voters away from Democrats. There might be plenty of good candidates on the local or city level, which -- great! Vote away for Greens if they're available, or the only other option is a Republican! But on the federal/primary level, please understand: once again, they are a scam. There is no point in affiliating yourself with them. You're welcome to register Green and vote Democratic, if that makes you feel better or if you prefer having another label next to your name, but once again, I'm telling you in my position as a salty Tumblr elder that they have done nothing but harm to the causes they claim to care about, because "environment" is such a nebulous priority and has demonstrably been hijacked to stop the American government entity, i.e. the Democrats, that is actually working to improve on it.
As for your question: nobody is "forcing" or "pressuring" you to vote in primaries. By your own admission, you made a conscious choice to register as a Democrat in order to vote for Democratic candidates. If you were just a regular registered voter of whatever party affiliation, you would vote in the general election for whatever candidate the primary process produced. But if you are sufficiently vested and committed to that process that you would like to have a say in who is running under that party label, it is not unreasonable that you would register as a member of that party. Nobody has twisted your arm behind your back and made you do so; you are taking a considerable level of initiative on your own. Likewise, open primaries can be both a good and bad thing. This falls under the "the political system we have is flawed, but we can't magically pretend it doesn't exist and act according to our own fantasyland versions of reality" thing that I keep saying over and over. So yes, if you want a role in shaping the Democratic candidates who emerge from a Democratic primary process, you will usually register as a Democrat, and nobody has forced you to do that. It's that simple.
Likewise as a general programming note: I'm trying to cut back on politics a bit right now, because I don't have the spoons/bandwidth/mental health to deal with it. I apologize. So if you've sent me a politics-related ask recently and haven't received a response, I'm not deliberately or maliciously ignoring you; I just am not able to handle it as much as usual and will have to put it on pause. However, I feel as if this is important enough to be worth saying, so, yeah.

Btw, if anyone cares to know, my position on Biden and the 2024 election is this:
Starting September* 1, 2024, I will be doing whatever I can to make sure that Trump does not get a second term as president
Until that day, I'm going to be doing whatever I can to push for an end to the genocide in Gaza and an immediate ceasefire, and that includes criticizing, protesting, and lambasting Biden for funding and providing weapons for Israel's genocide
ETA: I will still be posting about significant good things the Biden administration has done, though, because some of it is a really big deal that people deserve to know about
ETA: But I will not be defending Biden from any criticism around Palestine/Israel/war crimes
*This originally said October 1st but someone pointed out to me that there are a few states where early voting starts in late September, including a couple swing states, so I changed it because that's a very good point
I don't plan to tell anyone not to vote for Biden in the meantime, myself, because shitty two party system and I'm really serious about Trump not getting reelected
But I'm also not going to do anything to discourage people who are seriously rallying against Biden, because he is, you know, literally bypassing Congress to make sure he can fund crimes against humanity
I never want to diminish that reality.
And more than that: If we want genocide to actually be a dealbreaker for politicians and presidents... then we need to start acting like it could be.
--
Details/related thoughts:
I will still be posting about good things Biden and his administration are doing, because they are the ones running the US government and Congress is super deadlocked, so a lot of the national-level good news in the US has been done by his administration, and I'm not going to stop posting about that good news
Shout-out to the anon who accused me of being a US government propagandist with a whole PR team bc I posted about Biden a few days in a row. I promise you I'm blogging from my bed in my pjs and do not have a PR team lol
Also, for people who don't think we should be spreading serious criticism about Biden, for fear of Trump winning in 2024: I hear you--that's an incredibly valid fear. I've struggled with that myself, in the process of coming to this(/these) decision(s). But consider this: it's better that we really pile on the criticism and pressure now, because a) people are dying, and b) Biden's chances will be much worse if Israel is still bombing/decimating Gaza on election day
Relatedly, for anyone who's tempted to think Trump would be better when it comes to the Gaza genocide, again, it's really understandable to want to put your hope in any viable alternative. However, I promise you that is not going to happen. Joe Biden at least conditionally gives a couple shits about human life. Trump doesn't. Remember Trump's Muslim ban? In all likelihood, Trump would just tell Israel to bomb Gaza harder and ban Palestinian refugees from entering the US
Last thing on Trump: maybe this is naive of me, but for a lot of reasons, I'm not actually particularly worried about Trump winning in 2024. If I was, I might have made some different calls here. I have a few asks about this in my inbox and will probably make a post at some point about the reasons why, but yeah, Democrats have mostly been wanting to run against Trump instead of DeSantis or Haley or whoever for some very real reasons
You're welcome to disagree with me/this post in any direction, btw
Seriously, I'm just a random person who doesn't speak for anyone besides myself and my own blog. I'm not saying these are categorically the right answers, or that any of this is what everyone should be doing. This is simply the system I have settled on (right now) for how I personally want to handle all of this
You're welcome to disagree with me but please don't send me any angry asks about any of it. Not that I in any way get a lot of those, thankfully! But yeah, this isn't something I'm interested in debating, this is mostly for notification/explanation purposes
#palestine#cw war#cw genocide#us politics#biden#not news#me#reminder that all my posts related to the war/genocide are tagged as “palestine” and “cw war”#and if you need to filter reminders about all of this then you should#esp coming from you know a good news blog#Far better to engage with all of this news/info deliberately when/where you're in a place to handle it#then to keep spiraling and spiraling because it keeps surprising you in the middle of your dash#that's what I do actually I have several related tags filtered on here#and then when I'm up for it I go read a bunch of news articles and look up protest listings#and you know actually go to protests or post about it on here etc. etc.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need.
Book : Kali flame of samsara
Pairing: Ram Doobay x Devi Sharma
Warning: none
Rating: Teen
Flowers embroidered the high walls of the Doobay estate, clinging and spiralling down the pillars, gently swaying with the silent breeze as they hung in patterns from the arches. Delicious aromas invaded the senses the moment you walked though the stately double doors of the main entrance. The whole place was alive and buzzing with activity. the reason for this? Raj Doobay's upcoming wedding to Amrita Rai.
Yes, while the occasion wasn't the most joyous for certain parties all in all there were no real consequences, save the personal ones of this particular arrangement.
As the carriage halted,Devi hauled herself out , her body aching from the travel but she wouldn't miss it for the world. Amrita had, at one point been her closest, dearest friend, and although such was not the case anymore, she still cared about her and often times felt sorrow at her situation.
In that , it seemed Amrita had grown up faster than Devi. while devi still lingered onto notions of love and marriage coexisting , Amrita had long ago compartmentalised them, realising that what she wanted came at the price , a price she was willing to pay.
While their recent encounter had thrown both women off balance , it seemed devi had been once again reminded of the harsh reality. And now, this set up served to rub salt to a wound that in her estimation would never heal. She gathered her deep blue saree, pushing away the threatening emotions as she crossed the threshold. She was instantly hit by the social atmosphere. She was still taking it all in when a small body collided against her. She looked down to see Aditya Thakur staring up at her.
In recent times, he had accompanied Erit all the more often and back when Kairas was still managing the affairs of the sharma family, all the younger heirs would spend time together with nothing particular to do during the meetings.
"Where have you been? I don't see you at meetings anymore?" He questioned.
How could she explain this to him? She herself couldn't comprehend her own reality, much less put it across to a eight year old.
She rolled her eyes, putting on a silly expression and tickled the boy while saying " Uh.. Boring stuff keeps me away from all the fun you're having. "
The boy giggled, pulling her hand to lead her to a game of cards he was currently playing. As they neared the seating area, she saw his entertainer was none other than the younger Doobay.
Ram locked eyes with her, neither one ready to look away and end the moment. His attention was pulled away as Aditya made himself comfortable on Ram's lap.
"I'm on Ram's team this time. Devi, he always wins. " He informed her.
"Oh really? Let me see how he wins this time around. "
"Please take a seat Miss Sharma, let me serve you your defeat. " He teased as he began handing out the cards.
Both stared intently at their draw, eyeing each other, hoping the other would give something away. As the game progressed, Devi began realising she was on the losing side, not one to back away she came up with a better way to win.
She looked at Ram, fluttering her eyelashes before mouthing something to him. He arched his brow, smirking. Discarding his Trump cards in the next few rounds, he let assured victory pass him by.
"Looks like Miss Sharma has been paying more attention to cards than her business affairs. What exactly does Kamal mentor you for? "
"Behave yourself or people might back away from their promises."
"Not when they want it more than me. "
Devi glared at him with his self assured smirk as he consoled the Thakur heir who was dismayed at Ram's loss.
"You know, how about some other game? I heard saraswati is really bad at chaturanga. You'll most definitely win. " Devi suggested.
As the young boy scurried off to find her, both welcomed each other's company. Ram slowly got up, holding out his hand for her which she readily accepted as he led her away. Once they reached a secluded spot, he turned to face her.
"Tell me. "
"What? "
He only gazed at her knowingly before her carefully constructed walls broke away and she shuddered from the emotions.
"It's only that this whole wedding has been making me feel like this" She trailed off not knowing how to explain it to him, that she was wavering from what they both already knew. It was becoming increasingly hard to accept reality. " Unsteady. " She finished.
Ram nodded. "It's making you question things.... About us. "
"Yes and no. If anything it makes me want this more but suddenly hope grows in my heart.. I.. I'm scared. Ram, I can't help but wonder how this is going to end. "
"Badly."
"Don't say that. " She knew him to speak the truth but for just this once she wished he would lie to her, tell her it was possible that they could exist beyond the shadows. But Ram Doobay would never be one to do that, she recognized that.
He walked over to her as she sat in the window, kneeling down and resting both his hands on her knees.
"Devi, I will do everything in my power to make sure this does not end..."
Her heart hammered so rapidly against her chest. Had he just confessed to her the possibility of a future, did he wish for what she ached too?
She got up suddenly, pulling him up with her. Her insecurities and the anxiety in her heart subdued. While she still couldn't fathom either of them belonging to someone else, for now it seemed enough.
She cleared her throat, wrapping her arms around his neck before adding in sotto voce.
"Enough of all that now. I believe I made a promise I must keep. "
"Oh you must. "
Their lips met, his warm arms enveloping her as she pushed into him, wanting to be closer than ever. She continued her affections as her lips attached to his neck, moving up towards the angle of his jaw. He gave her an appreciative groan as she smirked in pride at eliciting these sounds from him.
Finally breaking away, they gathered themselves and made their respective timely exits to make sure no one noticed their absence.
From her balcony, Amrita Rai stared in disbelief at her childhood friend and the man keeping her company. She realised now why Devi seemed so in anguish to hold marriage apart from love. She had after all been done the kindness of receiving requited love. After months of stoicism, Amrita, in her solitude, felt tears roll down her cheeks.
She laughed in mirth at the goddess's will. Devi and her both ached desperately for what the other had but somehow, even in their pitiful state, they both had received exactly what they needed.

Rewatching The Curious Case of Dean Winchester
Welcome to “Toothpicks and Dimples and Honor Among Thieves: A Supernatural Rewatch Blog” with Lor and Mace!
Up today, s5e7: The Curious Case of Dean Winchester.
Bobby makes a bid to join Sam and Dean’s League of Extraordinary Idjits by playing a supernatural card game with a devilishly handsome magic man, in which the stakes are years of your life instead of money. He loses, because of course he does. And then Dean rushes off to try to win back Bobby’s years. And loses. Because of course he does. So Dean walks out of the game an old man, and the three of them start scrambling to figure out how to beat Hottie McCardshark. (Folks, this dude is ATTRACTIVE.) And then Sammy, who has been feeling that Dean is treating him like a little kid - you guessed it - plays to save Dean. No one seems to think he can do it, but of course he pulls through with an impressive bluff. Amongst all the card playing, there’s a sweet and sad little story about the cardshark’s wife being unhappy with their everlasting lot, and a not-so-sweet side bit with Bobby being ableist and sexist.

Here's a solution for you and that other bitch; if you want the first female president and don't want to deal with people RIGHTFULLY calling you out for supporting a GENOCIDE, vote for Dr. Jill Stein. She's Pro-Palestine and will be the first female president if all you do is just pay as much attention and rally around her the same way y'all do that fucking cop piece of shit. Everyone wins, you're welcome :)
Considering she's Putin's little puppet; NO THANKS.
And the last time people rallied behind Jill Stein, we got FOUR YEARS of Trump and we're STILL dealing with the after effects of his deranged ass being in office (i.e., him overturning Roe v Wade and our economy not being fully recovering from the COVID Pandemic).
#anonymous#asks#replies#now i'm 100 percent CERTAIN the non voter/third party crowd are a vocal minority because kamala harris' support is growing DAILY!!!!!

It's VERY important to understand that the christofascists have been working on this for generations. It has it's roots in the forming of this country, when rights for non christians were made civil rights. It got a huge boost at the end of the civil war, because all the people who really wanted the world the south winning would have brought joined their cause.
It's important because I see far too many people who think this is a Trump specific issue. Do you know WHY he was able to get so many people to risk everything to rush congress on Jan. 6? Because they thought this was the moment they had been planning for for generations. They were wrong, but not by much. A lot of them still haven't faced any consequences, all the politicians who were involved have received Zero consequences. They were about 4 years too early. This is a long work, and they've really been putting in the work. Strategic judges, careful legal challenges, filling up state houses and passing laws that SHOULDNT be legal, but can be squeaked in because the court that decides if it's legal is willing to slide a law or two to the side and make it juuuuuuust legal enough to pass. This is not a dumbass fucking moron movement, even though most of the frontline soldiers for the movement are exactly that. The Heritage foundation and so forth have been passing this plan down for hundreds of years, the long view. They play in our faces about 'states rights' and bullshit, they cut taxes and cut rights, knowing that it won't be immediate, but eventually, they'll be able to flip people to their side, even if it means a world those people won't be welcome in, or that will end in their deaths. Or they'll just be slaves, like the rest of us.
Trump is the consummate opportunist, and he saw how close the finish line was. He's trying to force himself in at the last second and wear the crown, and it's working, because the one thing he's good at is selling nothing to people who don't have anything else. But Trump is not the big bad here. He's the guy at the end of the movie who tries to betray the rest of the team and take the treasure for himself.
Not understanding what you're up against means you're not fighting right, and you're aiming at the wrong target.

Should mention this ruling is not only hypocritical to past statements by these same Supreme Court members, but also goes against a Statement Within the Bill of Rights. The President is not above the law and shall be judged and persecuted in the same way as all other citizens of the country.
They beg us to read the Bill of Rights to fit their narrative but the second it goes against what they want it doesn't MATTER! Welcome to America mother fuckers. Where everything in writing is a subjective thought to take and do whatever you want with.
PLEASE please vote. Conservatives are completely changing how this Government is run so they can aid in dismantling and restructuring America into a surveillance state Dictatorship under Trump, and not voting will only aid in that! Your vote matters, because if you don't vote? Other people will, and both sides have a history of taking non voters and using their names to fake ballots; something that was PROVEN during Trumps trials. That could happen to yours.
If you're unable to vote, I understand. But please. If you're able to and you have the means to get to the polls as a registered voter, do everything you can to stop the state America will be thrown into if Trump wins.
Putting this as a meme so maybe y'all will actually read it.
Held: Under our constitutional structure of separated powers, the nature of Presidential power entitles a former President to absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority. And he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts. There is no immunity for unofficial acts.
And this is why we cannot let Trump win another term: he now has complete immunity for any acts he "officially" performs as president. You thought he was bad before? Now he will have zero fear. He will do whatever he wants. And what he wants is outlined in Project 2025.

Hey! I just found your blog and followed yesterday. Came for the fact that you're the only other person in this webbed site actually say out loud that they liked Biden, stayed for the hope and determination and perspective. Anyway just wanted to introduce myself and I hope you're coping well!
Hello and welcome to you and the other sudden flood of followers that I got after yesterday's event. I'm glad to have you and hope you are all in on the project of Kicking Fascism In The Shriveled Testicles 2024, American Edition. It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.
Biden was not my first choice (far from it) in the 2020 primary process, but when it became clear that he was going to win the nomination, I supported him early and often. Trust me, this was not a popular position, and it remains so, but so be it. By any reasonable metric, he is the most progressive president we have ever had, it is a crying shame that the media is so beholden to the Trump Teat of Drama that they gave him such a kid-gloved free pass and ratfucked Biden instead, and it makes me worry, a lot, for American democracy. I have always gotten a lot of "you support everything Biden has done so you're awful and going to hell!!!" messages, because this sure is a Webbed Site Where We Piss On the Poor, and like -- I don't. I had major disagreements with Biden, especially on foreign policy! But because I apparently did not performatively self-flagellate myself in every post about how awful he was but maybe I guess vote for him anyway, that got some people very mad! It's also true that there's literally nobody in the world anywhere, especially and including in Palestine, that would benefit from Trump becoming president again! Especially since Biden at the NATO summit recently and explicitly endorsed progress on the ceasefire framework he has been pushing for several months! So unfortunately, we live in a society where shitty choices are necessary, and that is part of being a grownup!
....anyway. Deep breaths. Rant for later. Glad you're here. I have been desperately trying to Not Politic for a bit, since doing so on social media in the year of our lord 2024 is a recipe for swift insanity, but the world keeps taking a large dump directly on those plans, and I guess someone's gotta do it. In more normal times (OH LORD WHEN), you can expect history (I am an academic by trade), random posts, various asks, and sometimes a great deal of fanfic for assorted blorbos, though the Horrors have done a number on that and I am also working on an original fantasy trilogy at the moment. (Still deciding whether I should bother trying to agent it or just publish it on Amazon/Lulu/etc.) I have turned off anon for the moment because otherwise my inbox would be a nightmare beyond comprehension, but I do generally enjoy talking about things and/or answering them as much as I can. I am old, queer, tired, fueled by coffee and spite, have been politically conscious since the first Bush Jr. term and have therefore seen all the Anti Voting nonsense before (quick thought: if it was going to deliver the perfect Leftist Messiah and/or stop a flawed candidate from becoming president, don't you think it would have done so by now?) So yes. Welcome again and I hope you will enjoy (if that is the right word for it) your stay.

This is the first and last political post I'm going to make before this election. I know I have friends on here that lean every which way, but I want to put this out there: I'm scared, and I'm anxious about all of it. I'm scared at the lack of empathy. I'm scared for my friends. I'm anxious about the violence that will inevitably break out.
Politics has so successfully divided us in this country and become such an "Us vs. Them" mentality, that for a lot of people, that's all this has become. "We have to win against the other team, whatever the cost." People are going to die over it.
Here's the reality of the situation: If Trump loses, he will deny he ever lost no matter how clear it is. There will be violence. People will die.
If he wins, women will continue to be treated as second-class citizens. They will be pushing to ban abortions on a federal level, and after that, contraceptives. There will be violence against legal (and illegal) immigrants. You and/or your loved ones will lose their rights.
Tariffs will be made harsher on foreign goods, which in turn, we will pay. Not China or any other country, us.
I know a lot of you are apathetic towards politics or are going to vote for Trump based on second hand knowledge, or you heard a clip of him that sounds good, or because someone else told you to, but I implore you to think deeply about it. Listen to what he says. Listen to what Kamala says. Then listen some more. Because if a lot of you actually listened and heard what was said, your mind may change about who you're voting for.
I'm here to tell you that this is about a lot more than just whether or not you'll pay less in taxes or save money. This is about having your rights taken away. It's all outlined in Project 2025 and Agenda 47.
I don't think Trump is as evil (though he is self-centered), but I do think the people around him are, and want to work through him to absolutely destroy the backbone of our government so that corporations and greed can run rampant. It's all laid out. And if you don't think this will affect you, you're wrong. I promise.
By voting for Trump, you are directly voting against your own interests. If you don't feel those affects, then someone close to you will.
A lot of good people have been swayed into believing Trump is the answer to all of this, that Trump will single-handedly save this country. They want to feel good knowing that a non-career politician says the economy is doing great, and I get it. We're scared of things that are complicated, that feel too big to comprehend. It's easier to latch on to someone who says they can come in and magically solve these problems and bring us back to the manufacturing boom of the good old days. I get the appeal, I really do.
But that is just not reality. Our world is vastly more complicated now, and we need the powerful checks and balances that our democracy offers.
Trump isn't going to magically fix our economy or our healthcare, or even the immigration issue that is talked about ad nauseum. These are nuanced issues that require meticulous solutions.
Ultimately, most of us share the same feelings. We want to afford to live, and live freely. We feel frustrated with the way our government works. But Trump is not the person that will get us where we need to be, nor will any of the people working with him.
If you don't believe me, then listen closer. Put yourself in someone else's shoes that would be directly affected by the things he says or what his people propose. If you still will vote for him, fine. That's your choice, and your right. I have family and friends that will, and I don't love them any less.
Ultimately, I'm exhausted by all of this, and I can't wait for this election to be over so we can move on. The problem is, depending on who wins, that will be impossible for some of us.
Just know that the other side will welcome you with open arms if you change your mind. Regardless, go vote.
