I’ve already said it, I’ll say it again, Mal du Pays is such a visceral and clever word to describe Siffrin’s Sadness. When I first saw it in game it genuinely made me pause like. Yes, it translates to homesickness. But it has the literal word for country in it. “Country sickness”. For a guy whose core problem is that his childhood, his culture, his country is missing. One could argue it’s a twisted pun. I’m obsessed with it.

getting rescued out your car during a blizzard or something, oil frozen solid in the tank and you've nowhere to go, phone showing no bars until a big, gruff man in inappropriate winter attire almost rips the door off its hinges to get you out and stuffs you into old truck, engine chugging louder than the biting winds outside, placing a coarse, thick blanket over your trembling shoulders.

you tell him through chattering teeth that you'll leave come morning, won't overstay your welcome, but he doesn't seem to care much about what you're going on about, not even looking at you once.

that's fine, he wasn't even obligated to rescue you from what would've been your tomb and while your breath is visible inside his old vehicle (no heater) and his worn leather seat is numbing your bottom, you're grateful.

until morning comes and you ask him to take you back to your car since the blizzard is over and the sun's been out for hours.

"not takin' ya anywhere 'til i'm paid back in full. think the wood i used to keep your pretty arse warm is free? think the food you ate fell from the sky? get back inside 'n run yaself a bath. i'll be in soon."

the next five slugcats are from survivor's intro cutscene. interesting note that monk was not added at this time! monk and hunter were added ~4 months after rain world released, so assumedly these cutscenes weren't made in mind with monk.

the remaining slugcats in the second row are all from basegame projections that you can find in your own files, with the path

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rain World\RainWorld_Data\StreamingAssets\projections

and we all know where the downpour slugcats are from ;) these are all from ingame. the slugpups next to gourmand are colorpicked from gourmand's non-food quest ending art!

the next few slugcats are from gourmand's ending, excluding gourmand themself, of course!

the next three are judge and the two beta spearmasters!

the yellow and blue slugcats were two slugcats added in a projection with remix enabled. i didn't add the white slugcat from this one because... look do you see how many white slugcats there are already. also i forgot

the rest are all from the coop thumbnail, wip coop thumbnail, devtools [surv, monk and hunter also feature and this is nightcat but i included it due to the color difference from in-game] and remix thumbnail [probably survivor, but again, color difference! even if its stylistic i still think its neat to include :]] and the coop manual!

you. Could argue the white and yellow ones from the manual are surv and monk, But ! color difference. also the yellow pup that looks like monk actually matches perfectly with the yellow slugcat pup from alpha
