It’s time for the Dream Show Challenge 3.0 (*audience cheers*) organized by @singledarkshade
I’ve got this cast for : Kirsten Vangsness (Criminal Minds). Goran Visnjic (ER… sorry I didnt get creative in another nationality but the real one of him), Dina Meyer (DragonHeart), Ice T (Law and Order SVU), Rupert Everett (My Best Friend Wedding), Rhys Darby (Our Flag Means Death), Carol Kane (The Princess Bride) and because this is a Rip Lovers Place, imagine who will appear without a request.
CROATIAN STARS
Sinopsis: Evangeline tries to start a new life, and find a new love, a year after her husband passed away. She gets on a Europe Press Tour promoting her new book and getting in dates with not the best results. Finally gets back to London with her former family, a place she really don’t wanted to get back, never… why?
Characters:
Evangeline Reed – Kirsten Vangsness
A writer and journalist. She wanted to stay at his husband country, but Croatia is Nikola, and she can’t bare feeling him in every inch. Allysa, her publisher and best friend, decides that is the moment for a Press Tour of her new book and throw a challenge to her about dating with men again.
Nikola Kerr - Goran Visnjic
We meet him in flashbacks of their marriage. Evangeline remembers him and tries to figure out what he could say and do in most of situations.
Allysa Miller – Dina Meyer
The perfect publisher. The perfect best friend. The perfect adventures companion. Allysa will say yes to everything in the Europe Press Tour.
Donald Sieger – Ice.T
At Amsterdam, they met this suave American guy, and Evangeline decides to taste the yankee love.
Santino Fontes – Rupert Everett
They say that a girl in Italy will fall in love each 5 minutes, but Evangeline gets to the practical side: choose the most handsome, with the finest italian suit at the Editorial Party.
Ernest Reed – Rhys Darby
Evangeline’s brother, who host her little sister back in London. Evangeline is disappointed that passing time with men to get over his husband just managed to make her miss him more, and he push her to one more try.
Dinorah Reed -- Carol Kane
She is old fashioned only in the using of getting his husband family name, but this woman is far from the traditional granny. Ernest kids will get loads of delivery food and 80’s slashers on DVD instead of baked handmade goodies and old rhymes.
Jerome Twight – Arthur Darvill
Evangeline meets this guy singing the same song her late husband used to sing a lot.
Yes, I wrote the song lyrics, and they are cheesy lyrics, because I tought I would get a better development of the plot, using it, and make wordplays with stars and space.
You
And I
Stars crossed
Before beginning of love
As love was created for those bonded stars
In a crossed faith
In an eternal bright
The stars
The stars
Brights of love
Burns of desire
All trough the sky
Night by night
Lovers meeting
Lovers dancing
Lovers brights
Lovers burns
I don’t know how to make poetry, I never did. But I wrote the bloody song and I won’t keep It hidden forever :p
Episode 1.
Evangeline Reed feels his deceased husband everywhere.
At this episode we know how the couple met in flashbacks from places she moves on a normal day.
One night at the University Library, he came to ask her for conversation because they are the only students left in there and he doesn’t want to get asleep.
Surviving the end of semester, they started proper dating.
Back to present, at the end of a normal day she decides to move, and calls her best friend to accept a Press Tour of her new book which publication was delayed when she became a widow.
Episode 2.
Berlin. Allysa makes her best efforts to distract her friend and have fun. But everything makes Evangeline remember Nikola (oh yes the flashbacks).
By the end of the episode, Allyson decides to challenge her friend to get on dates, even without a romantic interest, just for meeting more men than the one in her memories.
Episode 3.
Amsterdam. Evangeline picks the first dude to date: finding him checking the underground movies from the Book Store where she signed books. He is an american tourist using his life savings for a worldwide trip. She has fun for a couple of days, until he has a train to ride.
Episode 4.
Rome. After a deep evaluation, Evangeline decides to pick up the man with the most elegant suit at the Editorial Party, finding that he is the main investor from the Editorial. Santino gives her three days of luxury, fashion, limousine rides, dinners at the best restaurants, just to find that they have zero chemistry when they try to kiss.
Episode 5.
Another round of dates at different cities, where she get fun but can’t stop thinking about Nikola. In the meanwhile, she is trying to persuade Allysa to erase the last stop from the tour or at least set her mind for it: London.
Nope, she don’t succeed, next and last stop: London.
Episode 6.
Meet the Reeds!!! Ernest is the kind of older brother that won’t let her sis to stay at a hotel, because she needs their childhood homemade dinners and a familiar room to pass the night, also her nephews don’t leave her side all day.
Dinorah is the kind of mother that never cooked and survived with delivery and his son cooking after becoming a widow 5 years ago.
Evangeline is happy with her family, until the adults insists that she needs to get out of the house and roam by London as an adult, because she left for University and met London only as a child and teenager.
She founds that the Cafe with her favorite sights to the city is still working, and she sits in there, looking at the early morning, wishing that Nikola were there.
Suddenly she thinks that he gots allucinations or she is still dreaming, because she hears Nikola singing the tune he always sang. She looks around and by the next table, there is a man, singing the same song, and now that she is totally aware of being awake and in the real world… he doesn’t look or sing like Nikola at all.
Episode 7.
The man looks at her, with the “Do I have something at my face?” expression that most of people fix when a stranger is locking their eyes on you.
She apologizes, introduces herself and explains. He also introduces himself: Jerome Twight, who is very happy because he likes her books. They roam the city, talking about how a lot of things had changed and how others stays just the same.
Evangeline is enjoying herself, not even thinking about Nikola, until… it starts to rain.
Episode 8.
Evangeline starts running, asking strangers to let them in their houses for sheltering from the rain that is becoming a storm very quick.
Jerome understands that she is getting a panic attack, and the complete scenario gets to him while she begs in panic to the lady entering her house to let them in, or the man holding her hand will die just like his last husband did.
He finally finds a shelter, a thin roof just enough for them both. Evangeline hugs him, crying and swearing at London and the rain.
This is why she did not wanted to came: Nikola had a weak inmune system and got pneumonia when a little kid from the Croatian Town where they lived went missing, and refused to get back when the rescue groups wanted to stop the search by a storm.Jerome tries to comfort her.
Yes… GETTING IN LONDON AFTER THE RAIN KILLED YOUR HUSBAND was a horror, but after some minutes of making her sure that himself won’t die for just some rain, Evangeline calms herself enough to wait until the rain stops.
She walks her back home, gives his phone number, but she is so ashamed that makes clear meeting again has very very low possibilities to happen.
Some days pass, until Jerome gets a call on his phone, by an Unknown Number.
He picks it up, and the last thing we see is his expression when the voice from the other side is Evangeline greeting “Hello. Do you know the chances of rain for today?"

Take My Breathe Away
Pairings: Steve Rogers x Reader (platonic), Steve Rogers x Peggy Carter
Warnings: Unrequited love, Insecurities, Pining, Angst
Summary: You watch your best friend, Steve, dance with his perfect girlfriend as you stood in the sidelines.
Author’s notes: This was supposed to be Steve’s story for betrayal but now that I think about it, it might just be a one-shot. I really wanted my next story to be fluff but I can’t help it, angst is my life, lol. Inspired by Berlin’s take my breath away in this edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4ZmFmEGRhM listen to it, it’s heartbreaking. And please, let me know what you think!!
The dim warm lights in the bar cast a soft glow over everyone, making the place look much more romantic along with the cheesy 80s love song playing in the background. The air smelled of cheap beer and sweat but it didn’t matter, everyone around seemed to be in a haze as the couples crowded the dance floor, swaying softly with their arms wound around each other. And there he was, with his eyes closed, head resting lovingly on Peggy’s, his arms wrapped protectively around her as they both danced to the music, wrapped up in their own little bubble.
Y/N sighed as she took a sip of her beer at the corner, obscure and unwanted. It was always like this, Steve would bring her along with his friends only to end up leaving her alone when Peggy arrived, putting her at the center of his universe, and forgetting everyone else around them. Y/N didn’t think he was doing it on purpose. It was just always the way with him, as if he had no idea the effect Peggy had on him. It was the same thing with you, she thought to herself dryly. Steve had no idea the effect he had on you. She shook her head, she was pathetic and to make it even worse, she saw it in the way his friends looked at her. Before they took off, they had watched her sympathetically and asked if she wanted to go with them. Y/N, in denial and having too much pride, declined. Only to realize now how stupid that decision was as she watched Steve dance with the love of his life, wishing it was her. Peggy shifted her head and being the tall girl she was, reached up and urged him for a kiss. She could never be like that, she thought to herself again. Peggy was confident, self-assured, and she was, well, she was just plain old Y/N. She didn’t have her height, her perfect curls, her red lips that never seemed to be out of place. It was as if she was born that way, as if she left her mother’s womb to direct everyone around her. She just had that charisma that all the men turn their heads for and of course, Steve, being the best one of them all fell for her. Hard.
It wasn’t only fair, it was destiny.
Y/N sighed and felt her heart break even more when she watched Steve smile down at Peggy, looking at her as if she was his world. She pushed herself off the wall and headed straight to the bar to order a shot, she goddamned needed it. The guy beside her visibly checked her out but she just ignored him, turning her body away from his leering eyes.
“Whatcha doin’ all alone, sweetheart?” He jeered at her.
She tried to politely leave his company despite her sour mood. It wasn’t his fault she was in love with her best friend but the guy moved to block her and she barely just resisted the urge to roll her eyes. This night just kept getting better and better. She scanned the dance floor for Steve, having lost them while she wallowed in self-pity. Maybe they’d left and forgotten about her, that wouldn’t be the first time. She guessed she should just go home by herself. Ugh, I should’ve just left earlier.
“Come on, let me buy you a drink.” The guy persisted, his alcohol breath on her cheek.
“Ugh, no thank you,” she replied, clearly annoyed, and pushed him off to put some distance between them.
“Alright, your loss,” he flashed her a cocky grin and she tried her best not to look so disgusted to his face. That would’ve been excessively rude, smiling to herself, she took a step back.
“Y/N, you okay? Is that guy bothering you?” Steve’s stern voice boomed behind her as he tipped his chin towards the guy at the bar, his hand wrapping possessively around her elbow, pulling her against him. The guy immediately turned his back to them seeing Steve’s looming form behind her, he could be intimidating when he wanted to be. Y/N’s heart hammered in her chest as she looked up at his handsome face etched in a frown. His jaw twitching, and his eyebrows drawn together as he stared at the stranger.
“Steve,” she said a little too breathlessly and caught Peggy hovering behind him. The little fantasy born out of this second’s protectiveness immediately vanished and she was reminded that he wasn’t hers. She was his friend, nothing more. And besides, what if she actually liked the guy and Steve barged in like that?
“No, I was just about to leave,” she said defensively, pulling her arm back from his touch.
“Oh, sorry. I just thought you needed my help,” He replied sheepishly and shook his head for his overreaction. See, he didn’t care, he wasn’t jealous one bit. He was just decent enough to help her out from the gropey guy at the bar, that was all. She let out a sigh, immediately feeling guilty about lashing out at him and offered him a small smile instead, reassuring him, “It’s fine, Steve. I’m gonna go home already though, so I’ll just see you guys around,” she waved awkwardly to both of them, trying to move past him. Peggy just nodded her head in goodbye but Steve grabbed her arm again before she could escape.
“Hey, we actually could leave too,” he said, looking to Peggy for confirmation.
“I can just bring you home after I drop Peggy off,” he smiled at her endearingly, his pink lips curving up to catch her attention and his eyes, oh god, she could just lose herself in them. Alright, you’ve had too much to drink. She cleared her throat and shook her head.
“No, no, you guys stay. I’ll be fine, really. It’s not a long walk,”
Peggy’s eyes narrowed at her, as if understanding what she was just thinking about but chose to ignore it and gave her a sympathetic smile instead. Y/N felt her cheeks burn, it was embarrassing to be caught by his girlfriend again. Why the hell did she have to be so perceptive?
“Are you sure, Y/N? It would be safer for Steve to drop you off.” She suggested with that same look of pity in her eyes.
“Come on. She’s right, Y/N. It’s late,”
Y/N hated the look Peggy gave her. Why couldn’t she have been the bitchy, possessive girlfriend everyone sees in movies? Did she actually have to be so nice? Well, if Steve was your boyfriend, you won’t have to worry about anything too. He was everything that was decent and kind. In all the years of their friendship, he’s never raised his voice at her, ever the gentleman. She shook her head at them again. They didn’t have to babysit her, she always hated that they treated her as if she was Steve’s little sister. Why couldn’t he have looked at her the way he looked at Peggy? They were friends longer. But still, one look at Peggy and she knew, she could never be that kind of woman.
“Really, guys. No need to cut your night short. I’ll be fine, Steve,” she smiled reassuringly when his eyebrows drew together, not liking being told to.
“Alright, alright. but text me as soon as you get home,” he said, giving her a kiss to the cheek that went straight to her heart. She hated that she still blushed from his kisses and hoped to god that the dim lighting hid it well. Peggy gave her a hug, telling her to take care and Y/N was grateful that she seemed to genuinely not mind her little crush on her boyfriend. That or she didn’t see her as competition. Why would she anyway? She was a tough, headstrong girl and above petty girlish non-sense. She squeezed her way out of the crowd and headed for the exit, pausing to glance back at them. And there they were, the perfect couple. Somehow the warm lights gave them a halo, as if it knew where they were and had to bring them above the sea of people. Peggy had her arm wrapped behind his back as she whispered something to his ear that made him laugh and look down at her lovingly. He bent his head to give her a kiss and Y/N closed her eyes, it was all too much for her. She turned around and headed home, welcoming her heavy thoughts as she walked into the darkness of the night.

Meet The Writer Tag Game
@pens-swords-stuff tagged me for this fun thing, thank you so much, my lovely ~ :D
Rules: Answer the 10 questions, write 10 questions, then tag 10 people.
1. Your main character is designing their own Dream House. What does it look like?
Oh how fun! Lemme think …
Well, Lexia, I think, would like something by the beach. She’s not a city girl, despite what many might think (you know, always sneaking off with Adom to some far off place, adventure-seeking and all that). I think she’d want a nice porch, and lots of windows, too, so she can always be connected to the outside without always having to actually go outside. And, the more I think about it, her house would be filled with things that remind her of other people (Rembrant and Hera, her parents, Miles and Stephen, and lots of things from her travels) so from the outside I can imagine it might look something like a museum of maudlin. Kinda has that sadness that comes along with holding on and nostalgia. You just know she’s seen through a lot and doesn’t really want to let go of much.
This tenancy would probably annoy her boyfriend, Miles, a lot because I see him as something of a minimalist. He values simplicity and wouldn’t want anything super big. If he lived in the real world, he’d be enamored with the emphasis on simplicity you find in Eastern homes and culture. So, when Miles and Lexia inevitably share a home together, that will be something they’ll need to work out! I feel like Miles could help her let go of some of that baggage, though (”Collect moments, not things” style). I think Miles would have a killer garden though; that’s where his money goes.
Isva’s house would be full of art, I know that much, but I don’t know where exactly it would be or what it would look like from the outside. Like Lexia, she’s kind of a relic-keeper herself! (there’s a pun in there if you’ve read my draft, but you haven’t, so lmao) lots of stuff from her adventures and just … trinkets. Like an old witch’s house, really. Very bohemian and soft.
2. What is the weirdest thing that has ever inspired a WIP?
Honestly, my inspirations for most of WIPS have not been fairly weird. Most of the time I’m inspired by something I’ve seen or read, or my imagination going to places it wants to for fun’s sake, conjuring up things that light me on fire. So I can’t really think of anything that would be weird by anyone’s standards.
3. Which character in your current WIP is the most fun to write, and why?
So far, Lexia and Rembrant have been the funnest to write so far. The more I think about it, the less surprised I am by how interesting Rembrant is to me; I’m a sucker for serious dad characters. I love dad characters. Dads, guardians, you name it. Maybe because I never had a father myself, exploring those “Batman dad” types is always really interesting to me and they always unfold in a way that’s particularly fascinating for me.
Lexia is fun mainly because she’s the type of main character I’d love to read about. Really courageous and compassionate, really sexual (which is an aspect of female characters that’s always ignored or not touched upon in YA or New Adult fiction; it’s always the guys!) and she’s awfully funny to me, as well. Just a little gumdrop I wanna hold close lmao.
So far, in The Raven’s Wing, all the characters have been very fascinating (Honorable mentions to the twins, Miles and Stephen, who are also pretty fascinating!)
4. Choose an 80s song for your main character(s) theme song!
Not really theme songs but songs that suit the characters and their conflicts so shushh
Lexia: What a Feeling by Irene Cara
Miles: Rush Rush by Paula Abdul (it came out in 1991 but shut up shushh) or Take My Breath Away by Berlin
Stephen: Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey
5. The characters in your current WIP are in high school. Who gets voted “Most Popular/Most Likely to End up In Jail/Friendliest” etc?
Lexia: Most likely to travel the world
Miles: Most likely to befriend everyone at his first job
Stephen: Most likely to … (I have no idea so imma leave this blank lol)
6. Tell us a place in the world that you desperately want to visit, and why.
Idk man, I just want to visit every place Europe has to offer me. I love Europe, but I really want to go to England, as it’s called to my heart for so long now. I’ve never liked living in the US and probably never really will if we keep going in tHIS DIRECTION
7. What is the absolute trashiest TV show that you’ve ever watched?
I’ve loved Maury ever since I was a little girl *insert laughing-crying emoji* Do not idolize me for you do not know my flaws.
8. Hollywood comes knocking, wanting to put your life story on the big screen. Who’s cast to play you? What about your nemesis/love interest?
I honestly don’t know who would/should play me, as no one really reminds me of myself? As long as it’s a black actress and they get my deep voice right lolol I don’t care.
And as for love interest… Someone older than me, like Hugh Laurie or Tom Hiddleston … Or Cillian Murphy. Also any actor who has ever played the Doctor is fine it’s all fine lmaooo.
As for a villain, idk it has to be someone who’s really good at evil like Isabelle Fuhrman or Sean Harris (and idk I think I’d just be smiling at them the whole time)
9. Favorite flower(s) and why?
I love me some roses because I am a starry-eyed maiden at heart. It’s just the classic romantic flower, and I’m a sucker for traditions and cheesy romantic cliches like that.
Lotus flowers are breathtaking, also lilies and if I ever have a daughter her name is gonna lily (or ivy — see what I’m doing here? Lol)
10. Is there a genre that you’d love to break into in the future?
Spy fiction!!!! I have a spy WIP but I have no idea what I’m doing and I’ve seen all the mission impossible movies is thAT ENOUGH
TAGGING: @promptsforthestrugglingauthor @kagami-sage @reining-in-the-fire-writing @write-like-a-freak @brynwrites I can’t think of anymore people so lmao You dont have to participate if you don’t want to! No pressure!
And whoever wants to do this, I’m tagging you too!

Hi guys, it’s me again, and for our last post of April 2018, I’ve decided that writing about books is canceled. We’re writing about my favorite music now: 80s music. If you know me in real life, you know that I love everything 80s–the music, the fashion, the movies….
In fact, let me treat you to two of my favorite 80s outfits…sorry that you can’t see my awesome 80s makeup, but trust me. It was great. In the first one, it was a spirit day at school, and the other one is Halloween–I was Diane Court from my favorite movie, “Say Anything” (and yes. It was released in 1989. I’m a monster.)
However, we’re not here today to talk about any of the dubious fashion decisions I’ve made in my life. Instead, we’re here to talk about my music obsession. Now, I’ll listen to nearly anything, but my two favorite genres are punk and 80s (I’m counting it as a whole genre). Let’s go into some of my favorites. (I limited myself to 15 for the sake of space, but it was a pretty tough call)
Dancing in the Dark by Bruce Springsteen (1984)
This song is one of my favorites. It’s on my “If My Life Were a Movie” playlist, and I just feel it, man. The lyrics rock. I can just imagine it playing during the opening credits as I’m like, getting dressed or something meta.
St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion) by John Parr (1984)
This. Song. I can dance and belt along to this song any day. I feel like, in my life movie, this would be the “Transformation Song”–like a friend and I would power ballad it for a talent show in ridiculous outfits and the whole school would rally behind it. Okay, I’m getting weird.
Kiss by Prince (1986)
Yeah, the subject matter of this song isn’t exactly PG. But the beat is hype, and it’s a Prince song, so what’s not to love? If you know me in real life, you may have seen me dance to it ridiculously at some point. Oh well.
Always On My Mind by Pet Shop Boys (1987)
This is actually a cover of a song originally from 1972. It’s actually been covered by Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson, too. In case you wondered, looking up current pictures and old pictures of Pet Shop Boys is hilarious. Nothing has changed except for the hair color of the men (it’s white now).
How Will I Know by Whitney Houston (1985)
The ultimate ballad of girls wondering if their guy is for real. Yes, I know her awesome song “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” didn’t make the list, but both have a similar vibe. They’re very “classic 80s” as opposed to “cheesy 80s”, and they get to be timeless like “Careless Whisper” (and “Never Gonna Give You Up”, except it got majorly memed).
Mad World by Tears for Fears (1983)
This song has been covered so many times. Like, it’s ridiculous. And all the covers are always really slow and melodramatic–I honestly super prefer this version, the original. I feel like the 80s quirk helps the message get across better. You can dance and also feel like the world is ending. Fun!
Karma Chameleon by Culture Club (1983)
Let’s be real, Culture Club exhibits all things quintessentially 80s, from Boy George to their wacky videos to their songs that, in the ears of today, would sound absolutely ridiculous (because they are). The video for this one, which is great to dance to, by the way, is really weird.
We Built This City by Starship (1985)
What. A. Bop. My favorite part of the song is the radio report part. Just listen to it, you’ll get it. I just feel like that part totally “gets” the message of this song.
Let’s Dance by David Bowie (1983)
What’s an 80s playlist without some David Bowie? I love this song. It, for some reason, makes me think of Queen (if you judge me, I will be unimpressed). This song had to grow on me, but I love the beats in it. A master made this.
I’m Alright by Kenny Loggins (1980)
If you know me in real life, then you know that one of my things is, when people say they’re alright, asking if they’re “really alright” or “Caddyshack alright”. Yep, this song is from Caddyshack. And I love it. To be fair, I love Kenny Loggins.
Sunglasses at Night by Corey Hart (1984)
The epitome of 80s cheesy angst! If you listen to nothing else on this list, you gotta listen to this. It’s absolutely ridiculous and I love it. Really wanna do karaoke to this in something bejeweled someday. I feel like it could be awesome.
Broken Wings by Mr. Mister (1985)
Another very “80s cheese” song. My mom loves this song. Also, I love belting along to it. And with a band name like Mr. Mister……This is also a song that, in my opinion, should have been on the “Say Anything” soundtrack. But maybe it’s too cheesy for that movie. Who knows?
You Want It by Cheap Trick (1989)
This song is, surprise, from “Say Anything”, and I love it. It’s the only song on here that I feel could span other decades besides the 80s (of course, it came out in ’89, which is a bit late in the decade). What an absolute bop.
Take My Breath Away by Berlin (1986)
AKA the love theme from “Top Gun”. I love this song with all of my heart, oh my gosh. It’s just so luscious and beautifully made. It’s almost dreamlike. An absolute must-listen.
In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel (1986)
That’s it, this is the song that makes my heart melt. It is one of the signature songs from “Say Anything”–if you don’t know, that’s the movie with the scene where the guy holds up the boombox in front of the girl’s window–and this is the song playing when Lloyd holds up the boombox for Diane. You have to watch the movie to know why this song is significant. And so you can cry your eyes out. It doesn’t matter where I am when I heart this song, I just melt.
Tell me, everyone, would you like to see more posts about things like movies and music, not just books? What’s your favorite music? And what books should I review next?
Peace out,
Short Girl
Top 80s Music Hi guys, it's me again, and for our last post of April 2018, I've decided that writing about books is canceled.
