The Little Princess - Single!Dad Charlie
Tumblr media
Request: None
Word Count: 1531 words
Warnings: none that i can tell?
Summary: Part 1 of the single dad!Charlie series, just some cute fluff and introduction to little Margaux Ivy Gillespie
A/N: okay so i need some input, i’m not sure if i should just make this the adventures of single dad!charlie and him raising his daughter on his own, or introduce the reader as a love interest at some point the original plan was the reader meeting charlie’s daughter, but i had inspiration to write this instead and i kinda really enjoy single charlie trying to be a good dad while juggling working full time and not worrying about a love interest?  idk, if you guys hate this please let me know

“Come on Owen, we’re going to be late.” Charlie called, leaning down to pick up his three year old daughter from her spot on the couch.
“Where we going Daddy?” She asked, snuggling into her father’s arms, and Charlie couldn’t help but smile.
The little girl in his arms was the light of his life. She was born when Charlie was just 18, and her biological mother had been 25. Although her conception had been an accident, the little girl was anything but that. From the moment he first held her in his arms, Charlie promised to never let anything happen to her. Her mother had left her with him when she was just three days old, along with a note saying that she really couldn’t handle being a mother yet, and that she was really sorry. He should have realised something was up when she had insisted he name the baby himself, whatever he wanted, and she didn’t have any complaints when he decided on Margaux Ivy, despite the fact that she had hated both of those names every other time he had brought them up. But he was too in love with the feeling of being a new father to even question it.
“Going to set Princess.” He told her, as Owen entered the room, his hair a mess and one shoe in his hand. Margaux giggled at the sight, pulling a face at Owen.
“You look funny.” She told him and Charlie couldn’t help but laugh.
“She’s not wrong.” He agreed as Owen struggled to put his second shoe on. After a moment he succeeded, turning to the father daughter duo with a playful eye roll.
“The honesty of three year olds.” He said, and Charlie laughed again.
“Gotta love ‘em.” He joked, and Owen nodded in agreement, smiling at Margaux.
“Couldn’t live without you, could we Maggie?” He asked and Margaux poked her tongue out at him, which he quickly mimicked.
His nickname for the toddler had come from an inside joke. When Owen had first met Margaux, he had only heard Charlie refer to her as Mags, so naturally the blond boy had assumed her name was Maggie, and even after he found out her real name the nickname stuck.
Charlie smiled at the interaction, before opening the door and letting Owen pass them, before locking their door and together the trio headed down to Charlie’s car.
-
Not long after, they arrived on set, jumping out of the car quickly to avoid being late. Margaux ran ahead of them as they quickly rushed towards the rehearsal area where they were supposed to be meeting Kenny and the other cast members.
They made it to the tent with less than a minute to spare and Kenny shook his head, although they could easily tell he wasn’t really upset.
“Take a seat boys.” Kenny told them, and Charlie quickly scooped Margaux up before sitting down with her in his lap. He pulled a colouring book and some crayons out of the bag he carried for Margaux’s things, and placed the book on the table before giving the crayons to the toddler.
"Thank you Daddy.” She said, and Charlie smiled, pressing a soft kiss to her head before looking up to listen to Kenny run through how the next week was going to be working.
“Daddy.” Margaux whispered, and Charlie glanced down at her.
“What’s up Mags?” He replied quietly, not wanting to interrupt the meeting. He knew if he missed anything important Owen would let him know.
“Look.” Margaux pointed to the colouring book. “I coloured it good.”
Charlie smiled, kissing the top of her head again.
“Very good.” He praised. “Don’t forget the duckies too.”
Margaux gasped, picking up the yellow crayon quickly. Charlie couldn’t help but smile as he watched her colour in, in awe of how perfect this little human he had created was. She truly was his greatest achievement.
He zoned out, watching on as the three year old coloured, only zoning back in when Owen grabbed his shoulder to let him know they were leaving.
“Come on Mags, Daddy has to go get dressed.” Charlie told her, picking up the crayons. “You can go colour with Aunty Tori.”
The girl in question grinned from across the table, happy to look after the small girl while Charlie filmed.
“I would love to colour with you Margaux.” Tori agreed, standing up. Charlie placed Margaux onto the ground, the toddler rushing over to Tori as her father packed up her stuff. Charlie handed the bag to the assistant choreographer, and smiled as he watched the younger girl lead his little girl out of the tent, before standing up and heading off, ready to start his own day.
-
“Did I miss anything important in that meeting this morning?” Charlie questioned later that evening, as he and Owen walked to get dinner after a full day of filming, Margaux between them holding both of their hands.
“Swing!” Margaux squealed, and the two of them swung the three year old up between them, both smiling at her excited giggles.
“Nothing we didn’t already know.” Owen informed him, as they reached the burger shop and joined the line to order.
“Oh good. I was kinda distracted by Mags.” Charlie admitted, and Owen grinned.
“Aren’t we all? You’ve got us under a spell Miss Maggie.” He cooed.
“No, I Princess, 'member?” Margaux mumbled, pressing her face into Owen’s leg.
“My bad, Princess Maggie.” Owen corrected, running his hand through her messy curls. A woman exiting the store smiled at the sweet scene.
“Oh, what a lovely little family. Your daughter is very cute.” She complimented.
“Thank you.” Charlie said quickly, trying to hide his laugh as Owen went bright red. The woman nodded in response before walking out the door.
“Why did you say thank you?” Owen questioned when the woman was far enough away.
“Cause. We are a lovely little family.” Charlie shrugged. Margaux pulled on the bottom of Owen’s hoodie and he lent down to pick her up.
“Aren’t we Mags? Owen’s our family, isn’t he?” Charlie asked, leaning over to press a soft kiss to the three year old’s hair, and Margaux nodded.
“Yeah.” She said, resting her head on Owen’s shoulder. Owen smiled softly.
“Well I can’t say no to the Princess can I?” He mumbled.
“No!” Margaux squealed. Charlie laughed, stepping forward to order for the three of them, content knowing that his pride and joy was safe with his best friend.
-
By the time they got back to their apartment, ate their meals, and Charlie bathed Margaux, it was time for the three year old to go to sleep. In fact, it was time for all three of them to go to sleep.
Charlie tucked Margaux into her bed, the little girl snuggling into the toy penguin he had given her as a baby. She couldn’t sleep without it.
“Night night Daddy.” Margaux mumbled sleepily, pulling on Charlie’s shirt so that he would lean down, and kissing his cheek when he did.
“Goodnight baby girl, I love you.” He whispered softly, kissing her forehead.
“Love you too Daddy.” She replied with a yawn.
She reached out towards Owen, who had been standing in the doorway watching, making grabby hands at the 20 year old. He came over, crouching down next to her bed, and Margaux smiled sleepily.
“Night night Papa Owen, love you.” She said. Owen’s eyes widened, and he glanced at Charlie for reassurance. Charlie smiled at him, placing a hand on his shoulder, feeling Owen relax under the gentle touch.
Owen lent over, placing a soft kiss on Margaux’s head.
“Nighty night Maggie. Love you too.” He whispered. He stood back up and quietly the two men left the room, flicking the light off and the small bunny night light on as they left.
“Papa?” Owen questioned once they were in the hallway, Margaux’s door pulled to behind them. Charlie shrugged.
“If you want it. If you don’t I can tell her to stop.” He replied. Owen shook his head quickly.
“No, no, I love it. I’ve always wanted to be a dad so...” He trailed off. “Not that I’m her dad cause obviously that’s you, and I’d never try to replace you or be you cause that would be wrong and-”
“Owen.” Charlie cut him off. “It’s fine. I think it’s really sweet.”
“Yeah?” Owen asked softly.
“Yes.” Charlie replied.
“Okay.” Owen grinned. Charlie returned the smile.
“We should probably get to bed, we have to be on set early.” He said after a moment of silence. Owen nodded.
“Yeah you’re right.” He agreed. A wide grin appeared on Charlie’s face.
“Goodnight Papa Owen.” He teased. Owen groaned.
“It’s just creepy coming from you, Daddy.” He retaliated, and Charlie cringed.
“Yeah no, let’s not do that.” He said and Owen laughed.
“Agreed.” He replied. Charlie smiled, pulling Owen into a quick hug.
“Night Owen.” He mumbled. Owen took a step back.
“Night Char.” He replied, before heading down the hallway to his own room.
And with one last glance into Margaux’s room to check on the sleeping toddler, Charlie did the same.

Ok but is the lyric “Swore she'd never kiss a Tory / But this boy was too good to lose” from Sex Sells a reference to the lyric “But you could never kiss a Tory boy / Without wanting to cut off your tongue again” from the song The Sea Is a Good Place to Think of the Future by Los Campesinos! bc I know Wilbur likes their music

There is a lyric in s3x sells that goes: "swore she'd never kiss a tory...." And I thought it sounded familiar, but it took a while for the penny to drop!
Do you think it might be a reference to Los Campensinos! The Sea Is A Good Place To Think Of The Future which goes like: "But you could never kiss a tory boy without wanting to cut off your tongue again"
Might not be, but cool coincidence!
Yes!!! I saw a few los campesinos! fans point it out yesterday during the liveblogging/tweeting :) I think that was definitely an intentional homage :D

I grabbed hold of her wrist and my hand closed from tip to tip I said, "You've taken the diet too far, you have got to let it slip" But she's not eating again, she's not eating again She's not eating again, she's not eating again I ask her to speak French and then I need her to translate I get the feeling she makes the meaning more significant She was always far too pretty for me to believe in a single Word she said, believe a word she said At fourteen, her mother died in a routine operation From an allergic reaction to a general anesthetic Spent the rest of her teens experimenting with prescriptions In a futile attempt to know more than the doctors She said one day to leave her, sand up to her shoulders Waiting for the tide To drag her to the ocean, to another sea's shore This thing hurts like hell But what did you expect? And all you can hear Is the sound of your own heart And all you can feel Is your lungs flood and the blood course But, oh, I can see Five-hundred years dead set ahead of me Five-hundred behind A thousand years in perfect symmetry Best known left wrist, right finger through all the Southern states On every video games machine, they call her triple-A There were racists on the radio, trying to give up smoking The chat show host, he joked "You have to wait for the government program" Talk about your politics And I wonder if you could be one of them But you could never kiss a Tory boy Without wanting to cut off your tongue again A good place to look to the future Is when you are sat at the sea With the salt up to your ankles And a view of the end of the pier You may look down at your model's feet And wish that you’d just float away And the weather here is overcast And the sea is the same shade of grey So the landscape before you Looks just like the edge of the world But to the left side and the right side Either way is a crazy golf course The sea is a good place To think of, to think about the future And all you can hear Is the sound of your own heart And all you can feel Is your lungs flood and the blood course But, oh, I can see Five-hundred years dead set ahead of me Five-hundred behind A thousand years in perfect symmetry A thousand years, no getting rid of me A thousand years in perfect symmetry

Birthday Girl: Part 1
Stray Kids AU: 10th member
Tori x Stray Kids
Part 1 of Tori’s birthday celebrations!
Requests are OPEN : If you have a thought, I would like you to share it my lovelies!
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
“Noona? Noona! You need to wake up now.”
Tori’s eyes crept open, finding Jeongin’s smiling face hovering a few inches from her.
“Why?” She moaned. “I’m happier sleeping.”
Jeongin laughed. “It’s your birthday. We made you breakfast.”
That woke her up. She show up so fast that Jeongin has to leapt back to stop from smacking heads with her. Her hair (newly blonde and cropped to her shoulders) was a mess, but she ignored it as she swung her legs to jump out of bed.
Jeongin grabbed her legs and pushed her back onto the bed. “Why are you getting up?”
She rubbed some sleep from her eyes. “Because you said there was food. The food lives out there.” She said sleepily.
The door opened and Seungmin walked in, carefully balancing a tray. “But on your birthday, we bring the food to you.” He explained, setting the tray down in her lap.
“Is Tori up?” She heard someone yell from the other room.
Hyunjin poked his head in. “Yes. Why? I told you to let her sleep for longer.”
“I couldn’t wait.” Jeongin shrugged.
“Trust me, I’m not mad about it.” Tori dug into the chocolate chip pancakes sitting in her lap. They were drowning in maple syrup, just the way she liked them.
“Thank you, Seungminnie. These are delicious.” She leaned over and kissed his cheek, leaving a kiss shaped maple syrup print. He giggled and wiped it off.
“Of course! Happy birthday, Tori.”
Felix came rushing into the room, throwing himself on the bed with such force that he nearly knocked over her tray.
“Sorry,” he apologized. “Hyunjin is trying to keep people out, but I couldn’t wait. Happy birthday! You’re 18!” He cheered, giving her a side hug to avoid smushing the tray again.
She laughed, returning the hug. “Thanks.”
Hyunjin stepped slowly into the room. “I tried.”
Tori shook with laughter as the boys paraded into her room. All of them were still in pyjamas, and they all wished her a happy birthday and gave her a big hug.
Woojin wrapped her in a hug. “Morning, birthday girl.” She grinned. He smiled back and picked up the tray, taking it back to the kitchen.
Changbin flopped down on the bed, laying his head in her lap. “It’s your birthday!”
“I know!”
Chan slowly pulled all of the boys off of her, sitting next to her and swinging an arm around her shoulder. “So are you ready to hear what we have planned for your super awesome birthday of fun?”
She raised an eyebrow. “The stuff you planned like three days ago?”
Chan’s grin dropped of his face. “You knew about that?”
“Of course. But that doesn’t matter. You guys are forgetful, I love you anyway.”
“I didn’t forget, noona.” Jeongin promised.
Seungmin tackled him. “Stop sucking up. We all know that you’re her favourite.”
“Boys!” Chan said sternly. “Anyways, the weather is rainy, so we’ve had to cancel one event, but the other two events we have planned should work perfectly.”
“And they are?” She asked, absentmindedly trying to fix her hair.
Hyunjin clicked his tongue and moved to help, standing behind her and carefully rearranging her blonde locks.
“The first part was actually Minho’s idea. I’ll let him explain.”
They all looked at the boy expectantly. He bit his lip, wringing his hands and looking nervous. “I mean, it was just an idea. If you hate it, we can do something else.”
“I’m sure that I’ll love it.” She reassured him.
He swallowed. “We’re going out for dinner tonight, so we thought it might be fun to take you shopping. And you can get something fun to wear.” He said hesitantly.
Tori clapped. “That sounds like fun! Get out so I can get dressed.”
Jisung laughed. “I mean, if you go out looking like that, now one will recognize you.”
She threw a pillow at him as she jumped out of bed and pushed the last of the boys out of her room.
She pulled on one of her favourite outfits, which was perfectly suited for rainy weather. A pair of black, ripped jeans, a black tank top with the Wonder Woman logo on it, and a flannel. She pulled a beanie and a mask out, and then grabbed her grey raincoat.
She stepped into the living room to find all of the boys fully dressed.
Chan clapped when he saw her. “Yes! There’s the beautiful birthday girl!”
She blushed and laughed.
Jisung snorted. Actually, he snorted so loudly that it made Tori jump. “You guys are so ridiculous that it hurts.”
“C’mon, the car is here.” Chan called.
She slid her feet into some old converse, and stepped happily out the door. There was a van waiting out front, and she happily slid into a seat between Woojin and Changbin.
She grabbed both of their hands and tapped her feet happily. Woojin laughed. “You okay there?”
She nodded excitedly. “I’m perfect. How’re you?”
Changbin started a thumb restle with her right hand, and she stuck out her tongue and concentrated on that for the duration of the ride.
“Here we are!” Seungmin announced.
They all stepped out of the car, and pulled on their masks to hide who they were. The mall was practically deserted, and Tori ran in without looking back.
“Is she always this giddy on her birthday?” Jisung wondered.
“She’s allowed to be.” Minho told him.
They found her in Forever 21, with three dresses already hanging from her arm. She looked up at them as they entered and bowed to the store attendant. “Okay, so I’ve picked these three. Which do you like?”
She held up a long sleeve green dress, that was low and had a low back. The second dress was a navy blue colour, and had a bit of a sundress cut with a high neck. The last one was pink and body con.
Woojin, Felix, Chan, Hyunjin and Jeongin voted for the green.
Minho, Changbin and Seungmin voted blue.
Jisung pointed at the pink one. “Just to shake it up.” He explained.
Tori tapped him one the nose. “For once, you’re right.”
“What?” Hyunjin exclaimed. “We all voted for the green one.”
Tori shook her head. “Boys, when a girl asks for your opinion on a dress, she’s just seeing whether you agree with her. She doesn’t actually care what you say.”
“Huh.” Changbin asked.
She waved her hand. “They have this dress in blue. I’ll get that. Can someone go grab me black heels and a coat?”
“On it.” Jeongin told her, disappearing and returning a few minutes later with heels and a black pea coat, both in Tori’s size.
Tori looked at one of the sales attendants that had been hovering. “Can we pay for this so I can go put it on?”
The woman nodded. “Right this way.”
Tori carried all of her purchases up to the counter, where Chan produced a commandeered company credit card to pay for her gifts. Once payed for, Tori went into the fitting room to change.
A few minutes later she emerged, wearing her new blue dress, her heels and her coat. Felix whistled when he saw her, and she gave a little spin. She was holding a paper shopping bag, which presumably contained her old outfit. Hyunjin held out his hand and took it, carrying it for her.
“What’s the plan now that I looked fabulous?”
Chan laughed. “I switched our reservation to a lunch reservation, so we can go eat now.”
“Then lets go!” Tori cheered. She grabbed Chan’s hand. “Where are we going?”
Chan adjusted her arm so that their arms were linked. “It’s a surprise!”
“Okay!” She walked happily alongside him as they left the store, her heels clicking happily on the ground.
The restaurant was located at the other end of the mall, so it was just a short walk to arrive.
Tori clapped when she saw it, but stayed relatively silent while Chan spoke to the host. The man stepped inside the restaurant and gestured for them to follow him, which they did happily.
He ushered them to a private room near the back of the building, where a long table was set up for ten diners. Chan started to lead Tori to a spot at the far end, where she would be the head of the table, but she shook her head.
“I want to sit in the middle! With everybody.” She insisted, picking a spot at least halfway down the table. Chan shrugged and took the seat on her left, while Jeongin slid into the spot on her right. Hyunjin sat across from her. A few minutes later, Minho and Woojin entered the room, carrying two big bags.
Tori ignored them and focused on the menu. “Do I want curry? I feel like that’s a little stereotypical.” She was met with silence.
She looked up and found the boys staring at her anxiously. “What? What’s wrong?”
Jeongin tapped his feet excitedly. “We can’t wait. Can you open presents now?”
Tori tilted her head. “You’re supposed to do it after dinner.”
Seungmin shook his head and shoved a package her way. “No! Look, there’s already a gift in front of you. You might as well just open it.”
Tori sighed and relented, placing her menu to the side and grabbed in poorly wrapped package off of the table. She carefully peeled back the paper and pulled out a beautiful floral laptop case. She gasped. “It’s so pretty!”
Seungmin grinned. “Now you won’t break your laptop every time you drop it.”
Tori smiled. “Thank you, Seungminnie. I’d give you a hug but you’re too far away. I love it.”
He smiled, and turned to Woojin, who was shoving his gift down towards her. His was in a gift bag, so Tori pulled out the tissue paper and pulled out the gift within. She laughed out loud when she did. “Chicken Recipes from Around the World.” She read. “Woojin, I love this. You’re all going to get sick of chicken.”
Woojin shook his head. “Never going to happen.”
Next was Changbin, who handed her a very small card. She opened it curiously, noting the blush that was sitting his face. Inside was an average birthday card, and enclosed in that... “Tickets to the Seoul Ballet!” Tori exclaimed. “Changbin, this is amazing! You know you have to go with me?”
He nodded. “I figured. I’m glad you like it!”
Tori carefully tucked it into Woojin’s gift bag.
“Okay! My turn now!” Felix said excitedly. Handing her a horribly wrapped box that took up half the table. Tori laughed and stood so that she could open it. She peeled back the tape and looked inside. And gasped. “Felix!” She reaches into the box and grabbed a handful of the Australian snacks contained within. “Felix, this is bad! I’m supposed to be eating healthy.”
“But everything in there is delicious.”
