#you can hate a show or character without targeting the actors

I genuinely wish people would stop trying to bully the Bridgerton cast. They gave us something beautiful that was unseen and unheard of not that long ago and in return they've been given harassment and hatred for decisions they didn't make or for just trying to live their lives. It makes me so sad.

Part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Oh come on,” Jason groaned exasperatedly as you set your glasses on the coffee table. “Glasses don’t fucking count!”
After a successful mission and saving the world for the hundredth time, the Titans decided to unwind in the best way they knew how: a night in with board games and beer.
As usual, Jason had tried to make the games a little bit more exciting by adding a “fun twist”. Jenga became a drinking game; drink if you make the tower fall. Uno had become “draw or dare”, you could choose to draw four cards or get off scot-free by doing a dare.
The “grownups” of the team—Dick, Kory, Hank, and Dawn— had excused themselves to do “grownup things” leaving you and the remaining group of young adults in the living room. Currently, you were now in the middle of another particularly heated game of Cards Against Humanity, the interesting twist being the person with the best card could choose for someone to strip an article of clothing.
Jason had been targeting you the whole night; teasing you for the baggy clothes you always wore. Purposely, just to annoy him, you’d only taken off your accessories and your zip-up hoodie.
Admittedly the clothes you wore didn’t really fit you right. You’d opted to wear oversized sweaters over fitted shirts, and unflattering pants over a more hip-hugging and slimming fit. Before you became a Titan, you were shyer than you were now. It had only been recently when you started to come out of your shell and get closer to your teammates.
“Be for real. Glasses do so count!” You retorted. You had all but discarded your outer layers and were now left in pants and a tank top. You could take up a few turns with your socks and shoes if you needed to.
“Why do you guys wear so many layers?” Gar piped up. All he had on were his boxers and a single sock. Conner, who was sitting next to him, was equally fucked, only, with no socks as a buffer.
“Because we play idiotic games like this,” Rachel remarked dryly while drawing an extra card from the pile.
You and Rachel were the only ones currently safe from any unnecessary exposure. Rachel did wear a lot of layers, and despite having lost multiple rounds, still looked very much clothed. Rose sat far off on the kitchen counter with a bowl of cereal looking on with about as much judgment as a girl with one working eye could.
“You know, offer still stands. You can still join us, Rose,” Jason addressed the grey-haired, eye-patch-wearing girl without looking up from the cards in his hands.
“Hard pass. I’d rather watch you losers get destroyed.” She then unceremoniously returned to munching on her cornflakes.
Your gaze settled on Jason who’d shed his leather jacket and still remained in a plain black tee and jeans. He was unfairly attractive in the most basic of clothes. And though you hated his playground jibes and dirty humor, you couldn’t help but develop a little bit of a crush on the messy-haired boy. When his eyes caught yours, you could see the wheels in his brain practically turning as his smirk grew wider.
“How about…” He started slowly, “Boys versus girls. If you guys win, then we’ll get naked. If we win, you guys get naked.”
Of course he would suggest that, you thought to yourself glumly. The thought of showing your naked body to your crush didn’t excite you, it only made you more nervous.
“You’re just saying that ‘cuz you’re losing,” you said, masking your anxiety with a chug of your beer, “Conner’s literally only got his underwear left.”
Conner, hearing his name, suddenly perked up. “For the record, I have x-ray vision. I can already see everything anywa—” Gar nudged him in the ribs to keep him from talking.
Jason shook his head. “It’s no fun if we already know who’s gonna win. Let’s vote on it then. Who here agrees to a wildcard match?” He raised his hand, and predictably the two other boys followed suit. “And who wants to play the way we’ve been playing; the boring virgin Y/N way?” He taunted cheekily.
You felt your cheeks warm again. He was never letting you live down the fact that you had confessed you were still a virgin during a past game of “Never Have I Ever”. You raised your hand and looked around for support. “Rachel,” you hissed desperately when you found she had not raised her hand.
“Seriously? They suck at this game. It’s not like they’re gonna suddenly win out of nowhere," Rachel whispered back.
“In that case, I’ll play too,” Rose hopped off the counter and plopped on the couch next to you.
“So nice of you to finally join us,” Jason crooned. “I’ll let you do the honors.” He passed her the deck he’d been shuffling for her to deal and sat back.
After Rose had dealt all the cards, you looked at your hand. The deck you were playing with was a custom-made deck that Dick had ordered to round out the Tower’s impressive board game collection.
As a collective, you all pooled in ideas resulting in a deck of cards ranging from the peculiar to the mundane; from “taking shots off Nightwing’s ass”; to “Batman’s Worst Nightmare”; to names of each of your superhero aliases including all of the Justice League. For some reason, however, all the cards in your current hand were names.
“Make me laugh,” Rose ordered primly as she set down her card and folded her arms in expectation. It read:
“If I could fuck anyone right now, I would fuck ______”
“Damn,” Rachel sounded impressed, “that’s certainly one way to start a round.”
Gar immediately threw his card down, followed by Rachel, then Jason. Only Conner and you were left.
“Time’s ticking Y/N,” Jason tapped a nonexistent watch on his wrist. Usually you would fire a comeback at him, but this time you could only frown as you chose your safest option and slid it tentatively over to the pile in the middle.
“Time’s up, Conner,” Rose said as she gathered the cards. He passed it over face down, obviously not very happy about his choice.
“Okay, we have a ‘Wonder Woman’,  a ‘Poison Ivy’….” She glanced around the room to see if anyone would give themselves away. “A ‘Robin’—wait...” She barked out a laugh. “I can’t not address this. I pick this one. Who fucking put down Robin?”
The room erupted into fits of laughter rivaling a high school classroom as they watched you sigh and bashfully raise your hand.
“Oh, would you now?” Jason raised a curious eyebrow at you.
“I-in my defense, there’s more than one Robin,” you sputtered pitifully before he could tease you further. You watched him stand up and begin to raise his shirt, giving you an eyeful of v-line and toned midriff. “W-what are you doing! I didn’t pick you!”
Despite being only in a tank top, you felt yourself getting hot. Gar and Conner had equally toned bodies, but they weren’t affecting you the way Jason had been. Just to spite you, he kept his eyes on yours as he raised his shirt as suggestively as possible, bringing it up over his head and tossing it in a pile on his leather jacket.
“Just giving the person who wants to ‘fuck me right now’ a little preview.” He said, smile smug like he was doing charity for letting you see his 6-pack.
Yea, real fucking Mother Theresa.
“Well, too bad I can barely see it.” You waved a hand in front of your face, “No glasses remember?”
“Come sit on my lap, mama, I’ll give you a closer look.” Jason plopped back on the sofa, abs flexing as he reclined with his legs spread wide, inviting you to sit with a pat on his thigh and a wicked smirk to match.
“Ugh, gross,” Rose made a face but appeared to be humored by Jason’s antics.
“Anyway,” you interrupted desperately trying to change the subject. “Since I won, technically that means the girls won too. Rules are rules.”
You had barely even finished your sentence when the boys immediately moved to take off their clothes. Your mouth went dry as they sat nonchalantly before you now, cocks resting against their stomachs.
In any other situation, you’d probably find this extremely inappropriate. They were your teammates. Sure, you lived together and had walked in on the occasional member changing or just getting out of the shower, but you were a bit buzzed off of the booze already, and this was different— you couldn’t help but stare.
“So uh…what now?” Gar’s nervous laugh broke the silence and everyone turned towards him; he blushed under the newfound attention.
“New game?” Conner suggested. He appeared to be just as clueless as Gar but with less of the blushing.
Rose looked over at you and Rachel for guidance, but seeing as neither of you knew how to react, the grey-haired girl merely shrugged back at the boys. “I’m down.”
“Ok, new game,” Jason agreed. “If you can make all of us cum in 10 minutes then the girls can get TV remote control privileges for the rest of the year.”
“All of you including Conner?” You asked brow raised, “He’s a super, that’s not fair.”
“What? It’s not like he has ‘super cum control’ too.”
“Actually, yea I—”
“Don’t answer that,” Jason cut in, annoyed. “Ok fine, I’ll give a handicap. If you can make one of us cum in 5 minutes untouched then the TV’s all yours.”
“Do you think we’re stupid, Todd?” Rachel narrowed her eyes at him.
“Well…” He paused and tapped a finger to his chin to consider Rachel’s rhetorical question, flinching playfully when she raised her fist to jab in his direction. “Ok ok, but 5 minutes is a long time!”
“I meant the untouched part.”
“Your handicap is you can’t touch us, and our handicap is Logan.” He jabbed a thumb to gesture at Gar who looked like he was meditating to calm himself down. “He’ll probably reach the big ‘O’ before he reaches nirvana.”
“Deal, but if it’s gonna be like that then let’s raise the stakes a little.” Rose countered. “Not just remote control privileges. We get control privileges. Over you guys. If we win, you have to do whatever we say for the rest of the year.”
Jason fished his phone out from the pocket of his jacket and set the timer for 5 minutes. “And if we win, the same for us too.” He started the timer and sat back.
You, Rachel, and Rose made a beeline for Gar, who’d still had his eyes squeezed closed in the middle of the sofa.
“Fuckin’ hell, I should’ve known you’d try ‘n cheat,” Jason grumbled and stopped the timer. “No double or triple-teaming. One to one only and I get to choose the pairs.”
“And why should you be the one to choose that?” You turned toward him, trying (and failing) not to look at his dick. It was long and thick, with a slight curve and a pretty pink color at the tip.
“‘Cuz you wanna fuck me so bad,” he simpered, an impish grin playing on his lips.
“Oh god,” You rolled your eyes.
“Let him choose,” Rose challenged unfazed at Jason’s constant goalpost moving. “Whatever strategy he thinks he has isn’t gonna work.”
Jason ignored her and carried on with making the pairs. “Rachel and Conner, Rose and Gar.” He pointed directly at you, “You and me.”
Upon his directions, the three of you moved to stand in front of your now-designated partners. Finally satisfied, Jason set the timer again and pressed start. Almost immediately Rachel and Rose set to work on their mission, stripping their clothes down to their underwear. You tentatively followed suit, shimmying out of your jeans and kicking them aside. Jason eyed you, fully reclined in his seat with his hands comfortably behind his head.
“Well, this is gonna be easier than I thought,” He yawned, looking as nonchalant as ever.
“I doubt your porn-addled brain has ever seen a real woman before, Jason.” The taunts you directed at him should’ve sounded more confident, but instead were dulled by your nervous fidgeting at the hem of your shirt.
This was the first time you’d ever been half-naked in front of a boy. And not just any boy, but a boy you liked. But the way he always seemed to tease you and make sexually insensitive jokes at your expense made you anxious. It wasn’t overt bullying, but the little comments he would sneak here and there were beginning to eat at you. If you showed him any more of your body, would he make fun of you even more?
“Trust me, I’ve seen plenty,” He assured, “But how ‘bout you jog my memory and demonstrate?” His gaze moved down your chest and back up to your eyes, daring you to take it off.
You fidgeted again under his stare, feeling a sensation growing in the pit of your stomach. It was a mix of anxiety, embarrassment, and something else you could quite place. When you glanced over to the other pairs, Rachel had already taken her top off and Rose was in the middle of a strip tease.
“Four minutes,” Jason announced, with a bored expression.
Feeling a sense of urgency, you pulled off your tank top, exposing your lacy bra. When his dick twitched, both your eyes shifted to the hardening situation in his lap. You could see him fighting the urge to touch himself now, and that gave you a burst of confidence.
Rachel and Rose were now in between Gar and Conner’s legs, not touching them, but teasing them by blowing hot air on their cocks. You followed suit, with only three minutes left you had to do something. After all, forfeiting your will to the whims of three boys with raging hormones didn’t seem like a fun idea, especially since you knew how playfully vindictive they could get. They’d probably try and make you human furniture or whatever other sick and twisted thing they could think of. You shuddered at the thought of the kind of torture they could come up with.
You sank to your knees and sat between Jason’s legs. You watched him involuntarily swallow and sit up straighter, pulling his hands down from his head to steady himself and clutch at the couch cushion beneath him.
“Three minutes,” Jason glanced at his phone, but he wasn’t as confident as he was before. If anything, he seemed much more distracted by your presence at his feet.
Satisfied with his change in demeanor, you only smiled at him, fluttering your lashes at him as you brought your mouth closer to his balls. You opened your mouth and exhaled softly.
He hastily brought a hand to his cock—beads of precum already spilling from its tip—and made minute motions with the pad of his thumb to calm himself down. His chest raised with shallow breaths as he looked down at you now, eyes heavily lidded with lust and wanting.
“Fuck it—” He hissed and without warning, reached his other hand around the back of your head, pushing your nose into his balls as he began to jerk off. Your eyes widened, taken by surprise at his sudden actions.
From where you were kneeling you could already see Rachel and Rose giving their partners full-on blowjobs, completely forgetting the game they had agreed to earlier. The sensation in your stomach moved down to your clothed sex, and you could feel a tingling sensation as he rubbed your face obscenely against his balls, moaning with need.
“Open your mouth —oh fuck— please.” His voice sounded strangled as he held you at the base of his cock, masturbating desperately to chase his release.
You obliged his request, opening up and taking his balls into your mouth, looking up at him as you felt his grip on the nape of your neck tighten. He was clearly getting off from the sight of you beneath him, massaging thoroughly with the flat of your tongue. He brought your head back and, with his other hand, held his cock by the base.
He groaned again when he saw your lips now glossy with spit. “Open f’me again, baby?” he asked despite the fact that the tip of his cock was already being pressed to your lips. Your cheeks warmed as he let out a moaning “fuuuck” when you opened your mouth again to allow him inside. He pushed your head down deeper to take all of him in, and your eyes began to water as the tip of his cock grazed the back of your throat.
“You don’t know how fucking pretty you look with my cock in your mouth, Y/N,” he murmured, releasing the pressure off your head for you to catch your breath. He let out a short laugh as if your gasping for air was funny to him.
“Had no idea you were such a fucking slut under all those clothes. How’re you a virgin when you’re takin’ my cock this good, hm?” His voice was gentle and soft but borderline condescending as he spoke.
Jason brushed away a tear from your eye and leaned over to bring you into an open-mouthed and sloppy kiss, tasting himself on your tongue. A string of saliva connected at both of your lips when you separated.
“Gonna fuck that pretty little mouth of yours. Keep it open,” He instructed. Within seconds he was guiding your head back on his cock, bucking up into your mouth and against your throat. You made a garbled sound, which only seemed to make him thrust harder.
“Oh fu— that’s so fuckin’ good, baby keep doin’ that,” he moaned, though you weren’t doing much except letting your head loll up and down like a brainless doll with the support of his hand at the back of your neck.
The living room was now filled with the pleasured moans of the three boys and the gagging ‘gluck gluck’ sounds of the three girls as each of them fucked into your mouths, getting off on the lewdly slick sounds of their cocks pistoning in and out in a relentless rhythm. Your mouths became just another hole for them to fuck.
“Shit—” His hips stuttered; he was close. He brought both hands to your head pushing it down so your nose pressed against his base. “You know how to swallow right, baby?” He grunted.
You couldn’t respond with words readily—your nose was plugged and his cock clogged your windpipe— instead, your throat closed over his tip, as if a Pavlovian response to his question. He groaned and not shortly after, you felt his hot cum shooting down your throat.
When his softening cock finally left your mouth, you swallowed his sticky release as best as you could with your punished throat. He swiped some of the cum the had dribbled down your lips with his thumb and pushed it past your lips, making you suck it.
“You’re so fucking hot,” he said breathlessly as he watched you suck his thumb, mesmerized by the way your eyes locked on him. A loud moan from Gar interrupted, making both you and Jason tear your eyes off each other. The green-haired boy was currently stroking his cum onto Rose’s waiting tongue. About a minute later, Conner came too.
It was only then that you realized that Jason had come the fastest; faster than the “handicap” he’d claimed Gar to be.
“So…I’m guessing that means we won?” Rachel had already started pulling her clothes back on. Since she started dressing, everyone else mundanely followed suit.
Jason tugged his jeans back on, “Sure. Fine. Whatever, we’re all yours for the next three months,” he sounded less than enthused but still took the time to find your discarded tank top and jeans and toss them over to you as well.
Rose threw her shirt back on and adjusted her eyepatch. “Girls, what are we thinking? Anything we want our new servants to do for us?”
“Hmm…” You tapped your chin in mock thought, giving Jason a sly look that could give one of his own cheeky smirks a run for its money. “Oh, I‘ve got a few ideas.”

Musical theater icks pt.1 (lmk if yall want more parts)
1. People hating on musicals just because they're popular, hating on them doesn't make you cool you pos (obviously if you just dislike the musical as a whole its fine but if you dislike it JUST because its popular then don't talk to me
2. Specifically mamma mia haters. Just because you have freedom of speech doesn't mean you should use it
3. Leads who hate on ensemble members (jokes on you toxic ass lead, the ensemble does more work than you do half the time)
4. Musicals being turned into movies but the creators were too scared to make it an all out musical so people who hate musicals don't get what they want and people who love musicals don't get what they want
5. Movie adaptations of musicals. The first few were good guys but its getting out of hand I need more original content or ill lose my ever mother loving mind
6. Sopranos and tenors getting all the love (altos need love too you meanies)
7. Being able to belt being the standard of good singing (what i mean is songs that don't have as much belting in them don't get as much love anymore even if they are musically perfect in every way)
8. CASTING DIRECTORS PICKING FAVORITES BUT THE FAVORITES NOT BEING DESERVING OF ANYTHING OTHER THAN A SHALLOW GRAVE
9. leads who complain about getting a lead.
10. Ensemble members who complain about not getting a lead (i get it, it can be disheartening and sometimes you just need to complain to let it off your chest, however when it's the only thing you're talking about or you're bringing down the one who got casted as the role you wanted, thats when I have a problem)
11. Pretty privilege when it comes to casting a role. Just cause someone is drop dead gorgeous does not mean they can eat up Hopelessly Devoted to You even a fraction as much as Olivia Newton-John did. A cute face doesn't automatically equal talent guys
12. When someone is super cocky and arrogant after their audition like "I'm totally gonna get the lead," and you want nothing more than to prove them wrong but then they get the lead
13. Leads not putting in the work necessary and relying on talent alone
14. Actors being rude to techies and vice versa (stfu, there wouldn't be a show without both parties, just work together gosh darn it)
15. When someone complains about the role they got because they "have so many lines," but they're complaining to the one who's playing like half the cast with multiple quick changes and a wide variety of characters that require different acting (this is targeted)

Okay, I DO NOT want this to come off as hate, because I love this show, have loved this show and will continue to love this show (I have no choice, I'm pack bonded) but... If I can bring up the way that the show feels... Off.
I don't want to say I dislike it, because I haven't really given it a fair chance, and I actually do really like a lot of the new episodes, and I would hate for anyone to see this and think that I have anything but huge amount of respect to the writers, actors and professionals working together, but I just wanted to know if anyone agreed, or is thinking along the same lines as me.
Meta Humour can work, and work really well. Fleabag's strongest storytelling point is the metaphor of a third wall break being her way of 'leaving' her real life, where we as the audience become her confidant, her trusted friend, her escape. Princess Bride has a meta humour that folds into the framing device. The Emperors New Groove uses it for comedy, and ties it to the medium, framing device and the tropes set up by virtue of the genre. Other shows can have throwaway lines with double meanings, one for the characters and one for the audience.
But Doctor Who Excelled in Commiting to the story. The suspension of disbelief, and the sheer illusion of this madman, hidden from us by our own inability to Notice, it was fun. It connected itself to our world with jokes about pop culture and throwaway lines about Merlin and Robin Hood and all these running jokes but...
Doctor Who proves that no matter how ridiculous the premise, a story can be great if you believe in the story you're telling. You can throw cat women in a hospital, have bad CGI mannequins clone a man, create bats that feed off time energy, but it doesn't matter, because if you and the actors are devoted to the world you're building, the audience will have no choice but to love it too.
Even Peter Capaldi has these scenes where he addresses us as an audience, lecturing us, but not only does it set up his career as a lecturer at a university, it has an in universe reason, where he explains that when he's unsure about how to get out of a bind, he retreats within his mind, pretends he's already escaped and he's bragging to Clara. The throwaway line 'I'm nothing without an audience' carries weight because... Well, he does need an audience. This is his own illusion, we're just sneaking a peak. This isn't the actor lifting the curtain a la Oz, this is us being brought into a characters mind.
Missy has a hilarious meta joke where she roleplays as the doctor and introduces the companions as 'Exposition' and 'Comic Relief'. It's targeted at fans, and clearly a shakedown of the tropes and- it works. Because this is a game to Missy, because she doesn't take this seriously, she's playing a role. It makes sense for This character in This context, and it doesn't break the illusion.
But the new series... There's just a plastic feeling to it. I almost feel like they're setting up a Wandavision bit where it's all a TV show. The joke about 'I thought that was Non Diagetic' was hilarious, and I loved it, but the winks and nods to the camera? The overexplanation and overexposition? 'Never seen a TARDIS before?' Lines said to the audience, basically dropping the wall between us. We are not watching the Doctors life, nor are we being brought into his mind. This isn't showing a characters view, or self aware commentary. It's a cheap laugh that doesn't land.
I don't want to hate the show, and I don't! But it's just... Loosing itself. Back when it was help together with duct tape and a prayer, they had to commit, to make up for the penny sets. Is it such a bad thing to miss that?

You talked about the spinoffs earlier, spinoff era has been amazing for the audience it was intended for,I think you're confused and lashing out because you didn't get the show you wanted, you said you wanted to see helicopters ,world beyond exists, two seasons,TOWL was a sequel everyone was looking forward to,we wanted to know what happened to the two important characters in the franchise,it's why it became a hit and the others did ok (DC) but TBOC is straight up flopping,no one asked for Carol let alone that show,as a very satisfied customer of the epic love story I'm sorry you can't relate to how a well made, well received show with lead characters that adore each other, are very respectful and always uplift each other, you can relate to the female lead of the show having control with full backing of the studio and everyone around her,I'll leave to begging for the bare minimum for Melissa while I go rewatch the epic love story you wanted for carol ,have the day you deserve ❤️
This is the kind of message I was referring to earlier when I was saying I don't understand why people feel the need to be mean. Your message reads as unkind, targeted, and bitter.
I can express my quite harmless view on a tv show that I had as much right to watch as anyone else. It's just how I felt about it, and that's okay. I didn't hate it. It just didn't live up to what I personally wanted, for me. And that's okay. The thoughts I shared were personal opinions and ideas about how I personally might have enjoyed it more (e.g. if it had had more episodes). It seems strange to me that those are ideas that cause you personal distress to the point of needing to send me a message like this one. If you had wanted to have a (respectful and fun-intended) chat about it, that would have been nice. I love chatting about TV show stories. Otherwise, you're quite welcome to scroll past my opinion without engaging.
But I do advise you not to compare TV projects in a way that encourages points-scoring between female fictional characters or their actors. All women deserve to be uplifted and supported.

My last post on this (tho ill keep reblogging others' posts) but a few days ago I actually wanted to complain about this and then never did so ill do it now.
I unfollowed Noah a few weeks ago? On insta. And completly forgot that he also has tiktok and that i followed him there so one of his newer videos popped up on my page and it was smth like Eleven dancing in Fortnite and i checked the comments, hoping to see some palestenian flags🇸 or anyone calling him out, but it was FILLED with support for him and "youre back baby🥺" "noah online era again!" "omg ily! Pls say hi to me🥺" and then i opened his full acc and noticed that That recent video was also more viewed and liked than some of his previous videos... all he had to do for so many people to switch up was... post a stupid fucking tiktok about Stranger Things... and just like that he was being idolised again, all it took...
Fucking pathetic and sad.
Love Will Byers all u want (he'll probably always be one of my alltime favourite characters too) but do not hide behind that to support Noah or Brett or Levy or whatever. Theyre awful human beings and they dont care about anyone but themselves. You can love the character and hate the actor. Fanarts and ao3 are free, you dont need to support ST. Pirate the show, make your own merch, only interact with free fanmade content. There's no need to show support for official Stranger Things stuff. Actually, take it a step further and boycott what the bds movement is asking to boycott!
These are the main ones!
Tumblr media
But the people, on their own, also started these specific boycotts! (Starbucks too! I was obsessed with pumpkin spice latte but im never stepping foot inside a Starbucks again).
Tumblr media
Again, the MAIN TARGETS are the ones inside the first box. The second and third box are about putting PRESSURE on them (ofc we cant boycott google but we Can put pressure) and the last box is the "the people started it on their own without the bds asking" boycotts! Disney and Starbucks (although both missing from the 4th box) are actually part of the "people started/led" boycotts too!
There are also people out there sharing FREE books (online) about Palestine! It's easy to look up but I can send you some if you don't find anything, I'm reading one myself.
There are also essays made by others that summarise specific books!
Tumblr media
(Apparently this one also has a voiceover? Not sure bc I still havent checked it out but I saw Multiple people reccomend it and will hopefully get to it soon!)
Last thing: depending on where you live (im not from the US, nor live there, and that's the main genocide supporter) you can also call your representatives, send emails (you can find premade speeches) and go to protests! And most of all, you can share the videos from Palestine! By journalists such as Motaz, Bisam and Plestia.

I've wanted some kind of Jonathan and Steve friendship or comradery for a while. It may be because the actors have wanted this from the very start, but I am a big enjoyer of trios.
I despise love triangles that overstay their welcome. Especially love triangles that have already died and are resurrected because the writers can't think of anything more interesting to do.
Nah, I prefer a team of three pre and post love triangle drama. In real life I know it's probably way harder to get along with people you were previously in a love triangle with, especially if it ended badly or violence was involved. Which it was. But also see so much potential in a dynamic like that. The three of you have literally been through hell and back. Fought each other. Hated each other. Protected each other. At the end of the day, because of all that drama, you somehow know each other very well and can't help but want to stick around.
All that said, I don't like what season 4 did with this at all. Like I mentioned, I loathe zombie love triangles. I hate that they used Robin and Eddie's characters to dig it up and give Steve second thoughts about the whole thing. I dislike it even further than Steve doesn't have the decency to not make intentional moves on someone who is already in a relationship.
I think season 2 did a great thing by showing even though Jonathan and Steve don't exactly get along, he purposely got out of Steve's way and even lied for Steve about leaving the party to help a relationship that wasn't even his.
Petty love triangle relationship drama aside, no matter which side you land on or which ship you ship, I appreciate how they wrote Jonathan's behavior back then and I wish that had been extended to Steve. I also believe Steve would be the kind of person to lie or make up excuses for someone else from time to time, so why didn't they write that?
What I want for next season is basically the same thing, but better. I don't want more scenes of Steve trying to "win the girl". I want scenes of Steve trying to figure Jonathan out. What makes him different. Why did Nancy choose him? Who is he? I don't need Steve trying to fix Nancy and Jonathan's relationship, that isn't a requirement. I just need Steve to come to some kind of understanding about Jonathan specifically.
As an extension of that, I'd like Robin to do the same thing as I didn't appreciate her role in the S4 relationship drama either.
It's like they've both made up their mind about Jonathan without knowing him at all and tried to undercut him. I mean, that is something teenagers and young adults do so I'm not hating them for it. Just urg, why did it have to be written that way. They writers didn't have to do that.
On the reverse side of that, I want Jonathan to be doing the same. Who is Steve really? He's not that bad apparently so why not figure that out for himself? Doubtful they'll find a lot in common but hey, maybe they do find that one thing they can get along on and become friendly or friends?
If Robin and Steve are witness to Will (and El) being targeted again, maybe they can both come to an epiphany like "Oh, that's why he's like this. I get him now." (by that I mean, Jonathan's crippling fear of his family suffering or being alone, so much so he will drop EVERYTHING. School, friendships, and even relationships will take a backseat for the purpose of protecting his family)
I don't want this to turn into a "Gasp, I didn't realize you were sooooo amazing Steve!" I really want some mutual "You know... you aren't too bad at all." energy. It's LONG overdue.
Do I have any real hopes of this happening? No. Lol. This kind of stuff would require them actually writing Jonathan for once, which they haven't done a significant amount of in 2 seasons. My true hope is that they will completely shock and surprise me, pull a 180, and make a Steve and Jonathan friendship believable because I really do like the idea of it if it's coming from a mutual place of understanding and respect.

Pyramid Game Review
"Becoming a monster is infectious. You've seen it." -Sung Soo Ji
Tumblr media
Sung Soo Ji gets transferred to a new school and everything seems okay until she learns about the pyramid game.
The classroom ranks each other and students with the most votes are A while the lowest rank F gets no votes and is a bully target.
I remember starting the webtoon but for some reason, I dropped it.... Now, I'm wondering why because the drama was so interesting.
The bullying in this drama is bad and knowing that they set it up on purpose is even worse. It's not choose the weak, it's the ones you choose to betray.
What I love about this drama is all the scheming. The person who created the game is a total psychopath but Soo Ji is just a different kind.
It also keeps you on edge a lot of times. Especially when everything seems to go downhill... How are they going to survive this time? Is it even possible?
The drama had a great commentary on bystanders. A lot of the time we forget about them or just hate them for not standing up.
But this drama shows how fearful it can be, however, it's not an excuse. There is always something to be done.
None of the characters are without fault which makes the characters so real and relatable.
What is also good about the drama is the combination of experienced actors vs the new ones. They all did a great job, and it's always nice to see new faces.
Even if I was not in the class I felt connected to the characters. I agreed or disagreed with their choices and wanted to shake someone up and say: "Wake up!".
It shows different perspectives and the drama is great at that.
Overall, it was such an interesting drama. Manipulation, scheming, friendship, it had everything I enjoy.
10/10

Normally I don’t post shit like this but it’s come to my attention that some people A) Don’t know how to have a civil discussion and B) Don’t know how to hate on characters without hating on actors(unless the actors actually have done something to deserve it)
(This is a targeted post)
Everyone is allowed to have opinions, in the US that’s the whole fucken point of the first amendment. HOWEVER, when you do clearly use that for your points without any regard for other people’s opinions and belittle others for their opinions that’s when you become hypocritical and the issues start.
You can dislike characters that’s fine, but unnecessarily hate on the actors who’ve done nothing wrong is different(separate Actors from Characters!)
You post your own opinion yet you have no respect or regard for other people. You ignore the valid evidence and reasons others try to show you and spew utter bullshit when actually asked for valid reasons for the hate you give.
We understand, you have so much hatred and disrespect towards anyone that isn’t Matt Murdock/Charlie Cox. The double standard you have are amazing, truly.
Normally I’m not one to police in the Marvel fandom because lord knows so many people already do it but when you spew so much bullshit to the point where I can’t tell your mouth from your asshole, then yeah I’m gonna say something about it.
A) First and foremost leave actors/character’s appearance out of the conversation/equation when you try to make a point. As soon as you bring up how “ugly” someone is you’ve fucken lost, apperence is never a valid/good argument (regardless how “ugly” a character or actor may be)
B) You get so pressed when other fans/people express their love for characters/actors(EX: Foggy Nelson and Karen Page) yet you expect people not to get pressed whe. You show hatred for the character and their IRL counterparts? How the fuck dose that work?
Again I’m not normally one to say “oh that’s not comic accurate” or “go look at the comic/have you even read the comics” bc lord knows I don’t read all the comics, but when you show so much disregard not only for the people/actors who provide you with the content/storylines you are so blatantly scrutinizing I’m gonna be a little bit of a gatekeeper.
Foggy Nelson was the whole reason “Nelson and Murdock” was even a thing to begin with. Foggy was Matt’s only friend until Karen was introduced, he has kept Matt on his feet and out of so much fucken trouble. Without Foggy who the fuck knows where Matt would be.
Karen Page was their first case. Without Karen “Nelson and Murdock” would have ended after they left “Landman and Zach” because they weren’t getting cases. Yes Karen is an amazing investigative journalist, she is the reason we/the public know everything we do about Wilson Fisk. Sure she didn’t “earn” her job at the Bulliten but she sure as shit proved that she deserved to be there.
Not to mention Season 3 Episode 13, Titled “A New Napkin”: after Fisks incarceration Foggy, Karen and Matt sit down in “Nelson’s Meats” and Foggy writes down “Nelson, Murdock and Page” implying that Karen will/wants to become a lawyer or at least help further in some way other than just being an assistant/office manager.
Foggy and Karen helped shape Matt as a character. Don’t disregard their efforts.
Yes character make stupid decisions all the fucking time: the whole point of the show is showing Matt Murdock being a fucking dumbass as he saves the city/Hells Kitchen.
But Matt isn’t the only character that saves the city, sure he does by being a vigilante but Karen and Foggy help the people of the city by being a voice for them as well as with how they help Matt.
Don’t even try to belittle actors because without actors you wouldn’t even have shit to shove in your mouth. The actors are fucking phenomenal so don’t belittle their work because I know you wouldn’t want someone to belittle your work. (Also Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson are fucken hot)
Yes everyone is allowed to have their opinions.
But if you disregard THE SOURCE MATERIAL of the effort which you hate upon as well as the efforts of the actors/people who provid you with the content, AND show so much disrespect towards them and other fans. You loose that right the moment you become a bitter bitch about everything.
There is so much evidence that proves how vital Karen and Foggy are to Daredevil/Matt’s story.
Just because they’re small parts doesn’t mean that their efforts are.
(Also quick edit: Elektra is “dead” her not coming back isn’t racially motivated(coming from an Asian American I can speech first hand about expressing racial motivations) it’s The Hand preparing her for rebirth and to come back as Black Sky, calm the fuck down. Not to mention: ELODIE YUNG’S CAREER IS GROWING! She had other projects and priorities currently(yes they could recast her but I’m sure she’s probably open to coming back) she has her new show on Fox, and she’s very clearly invested in other things currently)

Can we finally stop demonizing NC / sex scenes or pitting them against each other to find out which one is more valuable and worthy of existence due to better cinematography and conveyed deep emotions?
Most NC / sex scenes do have a purpose besides fitting in a genre and age rating where they can be shown (talking about the BL/GL/QL realm here... not like american hete action movies with random banging out of the blue). Majority of NC have some storytelling, some character information or development in it. Even if they are not romantic or not artistically shot. A lot of people just don't see it or refuse to see it because some still see it as "sex = a dirty emotionless procedure for the depraved"
But here are some examples of information you can gather from NC scenes that often get overlooked because usually people just look for love and desire:
trust level in the partner
fun / happiness with eo
desperation & longing & hornyness (<- also nothing bad btw everything depends on context and consent)
character looks for distractions with the sex
carelessness for themselves
are they egoistic in bed or do they care for the others pleasure too
do they like to spoil the other? do they like to get spoiled?
are all involved parties actually really into each other?
level of experience (side not: first timer of course will be reserved and more shy... SAME FOR FIRST KISSES)
self-image (shy? confident? self-hate / guilt??)
some like it wild and hard some soft and slow, none of that is superior to the other it's literally personal taste
are there some fetishes and kinks at play (possible hint for a characters psychology, doesn't have to, can be)
even hidden feelings can be shown, like FWB who turn into more or a couple who's falling out of love and just doing it out of rutine
btw masturbation also counts as NC, it doesn't matter if the character is solo sexually active or with others.
And you can just enjoy watching NC scenes without trying to find justification for it. It is literally legal and natural (heck even some social animals like watching other animals banging). You are also not intruding their privacy... it's literally just actors who just play pretend who all gave their consent to show these scenes of them to the public...
And no NCs are literally not the same as porn. ESPECIALLY when we talk about BL NC scenes because bruh, majority of it is so not explicit. All we see is foreplay and a bit of make out or aftermath, but there is rarely actual display of sex beyond that. Except for like Bed Friend and KinnPorsche, Love In The Air kind of spice level. And even they are 'just' on normal western level of sex scenes. The only kind-of-"""BL""" that is actually softcore is "The shortest Distance is Round" the main is even an actual porn actor and I bet some of the others too, the are just not listed on MDL. [all the trigger warnings for that movie series btw]
Does that mean there HAVE to be NC scenes in everything? No. It's basically an artistic choice and depending on what the creator wants to show and for what target audience they want to create. Same as when creators say they don't want to show much. 🤷‍♂️ But the less you show the more you have to tell via other ways. Which is sometimes frustrating for me when they cut the sex part (which again, is totally fine) but then the characters behave like nothing happened, nothing changed. OR THEY DO behave differently but nobody shows or says why! And if you are vague the audience has to fill the gap with their own imagination which can vary a lot from tame to horrible. It feels like I am missing out on their path.
But I do side eye everyone who calls a BL bromance just because it had one soft kiss in it. Or people who call a BL boring when they don't have sexual tension within the first 3 episodes.
Ending this with a nice quote I recently heard in a video about a similar topic:
"Just because something makes YOU uncomfortable, doesn't mean it is automatically something bad. It first of all just means it is not for you and that is ok." (unless it is indeed something bad and not legal then that's a different topic)

Hey, just wanted to tell you I am sorry you are being targeted and your words are being twisted. I don't really see what resolution does that person want? To publicly self-flagellate? What do they want to achieve? Feel free to not answer this ask obv. Just here to offer you support.
Thank you I appreciate it.
The whole thing is very frustrating and quite sad. I agree with her on the issues of fandom racism. I have never not agreed on these things. She has been attempting to twist my words and use them against me but I stand by my words. With all things there is nuance involved. There is a difference between claiming that yes, fandoms are racist and in general lean towards shipping white male characters. Yes, I do think that had Lucienne been played by a white male actor and remained Lucien as in the comic that the ship might be more popular as well.
But thats not the same as claiming that all Dreamling shippers are racist. That if you DON'T ship Morphienne you are racist. The minute you start using racism as a reason to shit on a ship you lose my respect because its no longer about a genuine concern for racism and instead becomes a game of "my ship is better than yours". The minute you start mocking Dreamling shippers and calling them "delusional" you've lost me - I have a huuuuge issue with people calling shippers delusional I was in SPN fandom for fucks sake I had 7 years of people calling me delusional and I really don't appreciate it.
I don't know what the end goal was. Whatever it was, they were going about it wrong. I desperately want more focus on other characters outside of Dreamling, anyone who follows me knows this about me. My blog is very much a mix of all Sandman content, both show and comic, and I always reblog everything I can find about the other characters to ensure that creators of fanworks devoted to other characters are getting noticed and supported by the fandom.
I have also never denied Hob's problematic side. I have never tried to excuse Hob for his crimes and have had extensive discussions about this over the past year. I am baffled that this has happened now. I think it must be a build up of frustration over the past year as Dreamling has become more and more popular and dominated online Sandman fandom and whats so annoying is that I totally understand how that could be frustrating. I feel for people who don't ship it and would rather focus on Lucienne, or Calliope, or Rose Walker, because I have seen how little content there is for them and its not always easy to just say "well go make it!" because even if you do make it, its not getting anywhere near the amount of attention as a similar fanwork for Dreamling or Hob would get. But that's no excuse to resort to hateful rhetoric. That's no excuse to start pointedly claiming racism because you don't like how popular a ship is.
In the end I did block her. She basically told me too. I think if I didn't the conversation would have kept going round and round in circles. I don't like it though. I'm hoping that in time we can put this behind us and engage in civil discussions again, but it just all became petty with the flashing of receipts like "gotcha's" and racism accusations of anyone who hinted at disagreement.
I want this fandom to be a safe space for poc, and I want us to be able to discuss the racism inherent in fandom spaces without spiralling into shipping wars, and I will always be happy to engage with anyone who wants to discuss these issues and how we can tackle them appropriately. For the time being though, I'm gonna go pour all this energy into my Lucienne x Gault meta. Hopefully something good can come of this in the end.

Confession: I've nearly dropped out of CQL fandom because people have gotten so much Worse about Nies vs JGY in the last year or so that I can't stomach it. I like JGY and NHS but really really do not like NMJ, and it seems like the latter is a dealbreaker with all parties because I feel bad for NHS insofar as NMJ also victimizes him and he's so fucking In It that his family treating him like shit completely consumes his life in a dead-end revenge quest in which he takes it out on everyone else while attempting to target JGY, and everyone else is like. Well that clearly just means he loves his brother so much, OR he's just complicit/willing to accept anything from NMJ. Either way these two are joined at the hip forever, Do Not Separate, and any inclination that maybe NHS would've been better off, and done far less harm, if he was less Stuck with his own family (going down with the ship there!) is shot down because he Sided With NMJ In The End (and is privileged enough to *checks notes* live with someone who is explosive/abusive towards him but also dotes on him allegedly, which cancels the former out), so everything else is impossible to have ever changed, unnecessary or undeserved. It's like if he liked or was loyal to NMJ then he deserves no sympathy for having been collateral in NMJ's outbursts, or he wasn't hurt enough compared to others for that to count. I don't like the brother who terrorizes his sibling, I'm upset by the scenes in CQL and FJ of him blowing up at NHS, destroying his stuff, terrifying him, AND the scenes of him attacking JGY. I'm sensitive to the ~less bad~ stuff with NHS because they are siblings. I feel bad for both the terrorized-but-loyal sibling and the even-more-terrorized and more-threatened sworn brother, and that's got no place anywhere.
Anyways confession goes here bc you're the only person I've ever seen talk about NMJ in terms of explosive anger for which he does bear some responsibility in terms of dealing with the fallout, and talk about how "if you don't want to be hurt then just don't be there when I'm angry, and if I can't help it you can't hold it against me" fucking sucks as a framework, and even if you don't share this take on NHS (which is fair, like I said I don't think anyone probably does) you'd at least get why NMJ is so... much (derogatory) in ways that aren't solely because he's a shit employer/sworn brother.
Nonny, you are so valid and cool for this ask and I love you.
I... really hate how, because the actor tears up a lot and seems like a nice person whose personality inflects his acting, fandom has decided that Nie Mingjue is actually a sweet, sensitive and reasonable person who never "really" treated anyone too badly. And haha Nie Huaisang is such a brat! Like. I don't talk much about it but that honestly makes me see red.
I... look. I think anyone who has ever been on the receiving end of a mentor figure, parent figure, or sibling's explosive anger issues is going to project our shit onto this dynamic. And in my case that... unfortunately comes along with the fantasy of it actually being possible to make that person see what they're doing, and understand, and stop so that you can still have, or have again, the parts of that relationship that are/were good without having to worry about your safety and tiptoe around them. So I often wind up giving Nie Mingjue more credit or energy than is really warranted, because I want Nie Huaisang to have a brother who shows care for him in a way that isn't yelling at him, threatening him, and controlling him, and I want Jin Guangyao to be able to keep that deep respect and affection you see in his eyes in some of their early scenes.
And, like I said, you are very correct about Nie Huaisang. Idk I don't... like to label character dynamics as abuse unless it's explicit. Partially because I feel like it makes it hard to talk about the dynamic, in that it supersedes and flattens every conversation into "person A bad, person B good/helpless," and because in my experience, when someone calls a dynamic abusive, or even says it reminds them of something they experienced that they're calling abuse, people get REALLY mad and REALLY nasty really fast and I want to enjoy myself here lol.
That being said, yeah, frankly, a lot of how Nie Mingjue treats Nie Huaisang, if you just described what is happening without attaching character names, most people would think was deeply fucked! I think a lot of "Nie bros" people write it off by blaming Jin Guangyao, or say "oh he didn't really mean it" because... Nie Huaisang continually runs away and refuses to do saber practice? Which isn't the evidence they think it is.
The place I have a hard time with Nie Huaisang is that, while he didn't want to be a cultivator, especially in the saber style, he was given literally the best education and opportunities in the world, despite sucking and not wanting them. And then you have Meng Yao, who wants to go to school so bad and would be so diligent and happy and good! And instead he has to do jobwork, which involves taking care of Nie Huaisang and his education. And unfortunately the extent to which he gets to be a pampered little princeling turns me off the character big time. Which doesn't negate the incredibly fucked up situation he's in with his brother, or his suffering there. I think also the way he responds to Nie Mingjue's... everything by kind of antagonizing him and being a refusnik also pushes some buttons for me for reasons I don't want to get into, while Jin Guangyao's waffling between appeasement and trying to reason with him resonates big time. And then of course the "I have turned your explosive rage into a bomb and the next time you turn it on me, you will explode and die. Just fyi." Is like. Amazing, Incredible, Phenomenal, Iconic, etc.
Idk this is not the first fandom I've been in where there's been a like. Physically much larger and stronger character who has serious anger issues that they externalize onto characters who are visibly weaker and smaller, and somehow a large chunk of the fandom has decided that actually, it's the big scary yelling violent one who is so sad and in need of gentle handling and hugs and maybe if everyone stopped being so mean to them etc. And the weaker character, when they deploy the methods available to them to defend themselves, are like. Evil conniving manipulators who are playing the victim card and 100% emotionally abusing the person... being violent towards them. It's weird and it keeps happening and I don't get it other than that it might be like... people love twists and the unexpected, and so "what if the person who looks like the dangerous one here actually wasn't!" seems like good storytelling?
But yeah. I don't think Nie Mingjue is like. Evil or a one-dimensional monster or anything, but I also wish fandom was more willing to really dig into his explosive anger issues and the negative effects that has on his brother and Jin Guangyao (and Lan Xichen tbqh).

Have people actually responded overly negatively to your more critical opinions? (Rhetorical question lol; Not doubting it, just a little shocked )
I’m new to the fandom and this makes me almost not want to engage anymore 😅 you’re so polite when expressing your opinions and it never feels like an attack on individual fans but just critical thinking about the source material and fan reactions so this feels. Really sad tbh.
Personal:
It’s kind of you to ask and I’m grateful for your words. I try to be respectful but I’m often afraid of turning into those I hate.
In all honesty, I think a big part of my fear comes from how bad of an experience the 2016 fandom was. Most of the theonbloggers from then are gone now but many of their followers/mutuals/friends who looked and said nothing remain and it automatically makes me more paranoid. The racism and homophobia was unbearable and came from the most popular blogs back then and out of those who remain I can think of only two who moved a finger to stop it.
The present is better but now there’s more of us so it’s less targeted but more prevalent, I think, often even unintentional. Back in February I made a Theon poll and it got criticism. Some of it was fair and constructive, some wasn’t. It was then followed by nasty anons. The nasty anons came back in the recent past over not liking ships involving the squid prince and the Starks. There was also an incident of being accused and shamed for being a thramsay shipper (which I am not). Recently I perceived an uprising of show defenders who criticised book-only people for “gatekeeping”, not accepting show canon and being overall upset about the blatant miscasting of “dark” characters. On the survey there was an abundant majority who were almost aggressively defendant of A|fie A||en as Theon’s actor, yet with exception of my irls, every person agreed he at least did a good job with what was given to him or just praised him. The animosity for him wasn’t present at all but there was a lot of animosity for anyone who might eventually criticise/dislike him as Theon’s actor. I was also vagued about on the survey seven times, on four other different occasions I was attacked due to my wording (someone sent me suicide bait over a misreading of the sexually repressed Theon question), two people accused me of the survey being actually a throbb survey and another one said it was an anti-throbb survey.
There was also a case in which someone misread two questions and mixed them up so they told me all the many fandom trends they loved and then listed the blogs they despised (mine was among them). That one was at least funny and it made me wheeze. I am not even mad at that person, I applaud that audacity.
However, I am still here! Which is test to the fandom on itself because I rarely stay in fandom spaces for longer than six months, at said point I decide to become an hermit and consume stuff by myself (even without negative experiences). I still think this is a vast improvement compared to 2016 and I’ve gotten to meet some really cool people who aren’t always of the same opinion but are respectful and have so many fascinating ideas to explore! It can be so relieving once you find a small niche of people to debate and daydream with (and admittedly sometimes just complain). The mean people on the survey were also just a minority compared to all the rest of the responders, many of which were kind, honest and very open. I often found myself snorting while reading the proposed “wish fulfilment endgames” because you could tell how much they cared for the character. The thought “I want to be friends with this person” was more present on my mind than the few mean responders were.
This was also a less frequent case, but sometimes when people told me about the blogs whose Theon posting they enjoy they would write longer texts explaining why, and some of that was very touching. I wasn’t namedropped often but a few of my mutuals/people I follow were and it always made go “Yes! I agree! They are amazing aren’t they?! I loved their meta on [insert topic] and-“ seeing people gush over their friends is always a joy.
Also someone referred to my posting as “Jeyneposting” and i consider that the most emotionally significative description I could have gotten. Thank you!
TL DR: it’s not all bad. Until now I think it’s worth it. Good luck! : )

hey, how are you doin'?? i just wanna thank you for fueling my fascination and adoration for behrad!! now i'm far from being updated on l.o.t (bc lack of energy + i think of some blorbos more than others). however!!! your behrad fics and art make me very '!!!' for this boi. it has spiraled me gathering info + things about him (scenes via gifs, some text posts, etc) without continuing the show, sksksk. he seems like a funky and awesome dude and i wish to skip lots of scenes just to see. . . this precious boi! i know this sounds weird but tell me the basics about him?? the wiki is just. . . eh in that regard, lmao. i know for sure, behrad's snuck his way into teh blorbo land of my mind!! i know i don't have to be too familiar with canon to be a fan of a character. . . however, i'd like to hear from your perspective!! and answer this whenever you can!!!
sending good ~~ vibes ~~ and good luck your way!!! once i got the monies, i hope to commission ya, someday!!! ✨✨✨
hello there!! so glad you're enjoying the fruits of my labor <3 target audience reached!
Behrad truly is a funky and awesome dude, and I wouldn't blame you for just skimming the show for all his scenes (bc i've done that more than a few times myself!) and the wiki truly is terrible! so just a few points that I feel like are the necessities are:
The Behrad we see following the s4 finale is from a timeline different from the one established in s3 (in which he dies helping Zari escape). In the new timeline, the Tarazi family never had to go into hiding, and Behrad is the one who joins the Legends during the totem storyline that takes place in season 3.
Zari in the new timeline, on the other hand, grew up as a child celebrity due to the events of the s4 finale, and becomes a superstar, which means Behrad grew up in her shadow.
When he was a kid, there was a reality show made about their family, Kardashians-style, that Behrad hated so much that he refused to take part, and he was replaced by an actor. This spiralled into a lifelong tendency to mask his real feelings and to be the laid-back and unbothered person he appears to be when we first meet him. It also contributed to his stoner habits, using weed as a coping mechanism.
That said, he does love Zari a lot. They just have a lot of unresolved issues that they've avoided talking about, and only confront in season 7.
It would probably take me more time than i'm willing to put in to explain much about him, though my fics probably say a lot of what i think i'd probably end up saying? especially if you're looking for my perspective on him as a character. the behrad tarazi tag on my other blog is probably another place you might find things, both from myself and from other people, though it's a bit of a mess in there! but i do think the best way to learn about him is to watch all of his scenes from s5-onward, as well as zari's scenes too (both versions, imo! z1's version of history is just as crucial to behrad as a character as the post-s4 version). I would especially recommend 6.09 "This is Gus", and 7.09 "Lowest Common Demoninator", as those are i think his biggest episodes and worth watching in their entirety!
thanks so much for the ask <3 absolutely rekindled my love for him a bit as it's been a while since i really thought about him this much! might have missed a few points here and there, but u know how it is with spaghetti

Hi!
About that why did you get billy hate poll... Personally i dont post about billy or harringrove so i never had any hate targeted at me, and i cant vote in zhe poll because of it. BUT i had to block so many accounts and tags because i couldnt go into the billy hargrove tag without encountering these mile long posts about how awful we all are. I know you know these posts too well, so i wont detail how according to the antis we are all racist assholes. The worst part is that when i first joined the fandom i saw so many of these that i almost believed them. You know, when a bunch of people are all saying the same bs but you start to doubt yourself, it really sucked. It effected me enough thst i had a hard time "confessing" to my real-life (aka not online) friends who are casual fans of the show that he was my favourite character. And the funny part is most of them couldnt even care less, cause being such a passionate anti for a fictional character and writing 10k essays on how awful that FICTIONAL CHARATER is and therefore his fans and the actor too IS NOT NORMAL BEHAVIOUR! It is as chronicly online as it gets. There was only one friend of mine who was suprised and since she is a very opinionated person started to explain to me how SHE COULD NEVER LOVE HIM and she is suprised that i care about him. I tried to explain to her that i know that he behaves like an asshole but its due to his background and i believe would he have gotten the same treatment as steve he could have been redeemed, i was hit with the classic tonedeath answer:
Well my home life wasnt sunshine and puppies either but i dont go around beating up kids
At that point i just gave up in arguing honestly and then i felt like an idiot for not putting up more of a fight, cause this made it feel like her argument i agreed with. God.
I love billy so much, but all this negativity that comes with being in the fandom just drains me.
my dear anon, you are absolutely correct and i hope you have a lovely day.
i confess that when i first watched stranger things, i didn't like billy that much. and i handled that by not engaging with media about him, you know, like a normal person. this was just after s2 came out so i wasn't active on tumblr, i wasn't writing fanfiction, i wasn't in the fandom (and I'm glad let me tell you). but i was also thirteen and related to max more than billy, but the older i got, the more mature and aware i became of just the world in general.
in my humble opinion, the vocal billy antis are ignorant. they don't want to a conversation, they don't want to discuss nuance or entertain the idea of people unlearning things.
we've reached a place in this world where racism and homophobia and ableism are so prevalent that people forget that these things are taught and can therefore be unleant. because a lot of the real life people don't want to unlearn, or can't.
and that idea as spread into fandom spaces. I've said it before and I'll say it again, but the fact that people's response to children/teenagers saying racist/homophobic things is to immediately call for their death is a bad thing actually. and yes, it's spread to characters as well.
it's all performative. i made that poll just to see how performative antis are and, yeah, the results aren't great.
another thing i've noticed about people in general is that they tend to hate characters that exhibit their *embarassing* flaws. media that has racist/homophobic characters in the bad positions aren't really loved by people who hold those views.
Tumblr media
^^^^ i think this summarises what i'm trying to say. no one wants to be the bad guy, so when they see something that forces them to confront that part of them, they push it away, deny it.
billy/harringrove stans have been harrassed, told to kill ourselves, called slurs and yet the people who say those things think they're right because they can't fathom being wrong.
so, anon, what i've learnt from my six months in this fandom, is to embrace it. yea billy was going to hit the kids with his car, i actively encourage that now. yea billy was going to kill everyone, he should've killed them all.
but no matter what, we love and support each other. so feel free to ramble in my ask box whenever, start posting on your blog about billy, do whatever you want.
they don't matter to us. they can't matter to us. fandom should be safe and it should be fun and those people are making themselves miserable. and that isn't our fault and it isn't our problem.
