thank you for saying this anon i’ve been thinking of it a lot actually. i’m morally and legally binded to choose childhood friend!sugu no matter what because he’s literally……. my favorite Ever. and i think the inherent devotion of the childhood friend trope blends soooo well with his natural devotion. his protective urges. etcetc. i have wayyyy too many thoughts about childhood friend!sugu 😭 but it mostly boils down to him wanting to be by your side forever. he wants to make you happy and he wants to protect you and he knows you so well that he doesn’t trust anyone else to love you like he can. he’s selfish and he wants you to lean on him more than he wants anything for himself.
childhood friend!toru though….. i feel like he would be your estranged childhood friend. that makes most sense to me :3 like, you met when you were really really young, and ended up playing together in an empty park. he was a brat, kind of quiet, and you were just sweet, y’know? you were the closest thing to a friend he had as a child. then you ended up moving away, he never got to say goodbye… and you meet again as adults. you don’t remember him — it was just so, so long ago — but he remembers you. he remembers you a little too well.
so now you just kinda have to deal with this tall, handsome, cheery man who keeps talking to you like you’re best friends even though you literally don’t remember him…. he’s sweet though. a little annoying, but sweet. he has a soft spot for you. i think having anything remotely close to a childhood friend makes him feel human in a way he can’t help but crave.

fellas we're once again wrestling with imperfect vs. perfect contrition and why imperfect contrition with a firm resolution to not sin again and promptly receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation doesn't save
#I get that it doesn't but !!!! I don't like it and I think its bad and I'm mad at God#it's definitely not because I only have imperfect contrition and get afraid to die#but like if its a gift from God#so much more of a gift perfect contrition is#but if cooperating with grace only results in imperfect contrition#why is it still damnable#his ways higher than my ways i know the line#this didnt save my other tags ahh!!!#but take this example from movie recently#man is a lapsed catholic#hes murdered people etc. very many grave sins#he has a terrifying near death experience and in the hospital asks to have a Priest come#because he wants to confess his sins#he ends up being denied one and murdered himself#to me (vibes) hes motivated by genuine belief and fear (imperfect) but hes also made#TANGIBLE STEPS to try and receive the Sacrament#he clearly wants to be reconciled and is trying#and the most we can hope for him is the same extraordinary salvation we hope a muslim has or an atheist?#intuitively that seems wrong idk#also moots i just realized this might be scandalous etc. I'm trying to religious submission of mind and will#pls tell me if i ought to delete and i will#also tbf on some level I would get the extraordinary salvation is all we can hope for bc of the efficacy of the Sacraments#EXCEPT for baptism by desire#and specifically the fact that motivation to be baptized does not come into consideration#you die before you can be baptized when you've expressed a desire and are trying to be baptized?#saved. no questions asked.#thats what makes this tough for me

Top 5 Arthur episodes?
D.W. Goes to Washington: It's a very close race between this one and #2, but I gave the edge to this one because almost every line here is classic. It's full of hilarious Imagine Spots and great D.W. zingers.
The Rat Who Came to Dinner: Another episode that's full of great jokes. The dynamic between Ratburn and Arthur's family is comedy gold.
The Contest: The pastiches of different animation styles alone puts this one in the top five, but it's also in service of some wonderfully absurd mini-stories with classic jokes. ("My brain was on cruise control" is the Arthur quote that gets the most use in daily life).
Buster Hits the Books: The pastiches of the different books are hilarious.
Arthur's Almost Boring Day: I had a very tough time choosing the fifth episode. I went with this one because the fighting between Arthur and D.W. reaches a hilarious fever pitch that goes beyond any other episode.
#answered asks#arthur#arthur pbs#lady-merian#this was extremely fun#and also surprisingly tough to answer because there are tons of episodes that have classic jokes#but it's harder to pinpoint which is the best overall episode#'the blizzard' (the ep paired with 'the rat who came to dinner') totally would have made this list if it weren't for the ouija board joke#my brother (i put this question to him one day) lobbied for the musical episode#which does have a lot of good bits but i had a tough time awarding the fifth spot to something written by That Man#'arthur's almost live not-real music festival' was a contender#but even though the songs are great as an episode it's not as compelling as some others#also when trying to settle on the fifth entry i skimmed through the wikipedia list of arthur episodes#and looking at the list that way#with the writers listed in a column right next to the episode names#individual styles become VERY clear#joe fallon goes for chaos (though he's got a lot of surprisingly tame ones)#kathy waugh has a certain type of heartfelt sentiment#there's a sandra willard who i never noticed on title cards before#but seeing her in the list she has a very distinct style#a sort of off-beat quirky sentimentalism#That Man actually has some really strong episodes early on#but as the seasons go on you see more and more of the preachy Very Special Episodes and they are all his#also going through the list that way reminds me of so many great bits across so many episodes

Do you have any OCs? Talk about them!
okay so I have a lot of OCs (technically, kinda, sorta) bc every character I pull out of thin air for my original works are my OCs
but my fandom associated OCs? Oh buddy....
Oldest? Period? My x-men oc I made when I was 8. Never threw much detail into her (again, I was 8), but she was my very first. My first intentional oc? When I was 12-13 and stupidly into Hetalia, I made the personifications of two states (The one I was born in and the one I currently live in) and, for some reason, all the Canadian provinces. I...can't explain that one. I think I have sketches of them all somewhere....
Newest? I'm making a CoD oc... I don't have many details yet because I'm embarrassed he exists and he's very much a self insert. He's not military, stupidly good with languages, and has a knack for being able to blend in anywhere he is, able to just disappear into any crowd. He has tell me your life story written across his forehead and has a knack for always being in the wrong place at the wrong time and voicing his opinions to the wrong people. Will he ever see the light of day in any of my written works? Probably not because my fingertips are burning just typing this out.
Most fleshed out? Unfortunately, again, I have to look back to 13 year old me because while that kid really needed to get out of the house and make some friends....he also had a wickedly cool Walking Dead oc. I forget what I named her, but I had everything from her birthday to her blood type figured the fuck out. Her weapon of choice was a baseball bat (THIS WAS BEFORE NEGAN WAS INTRODUCED) and she was 16 when all of this started (because to 13 year old me, 16 was basically adulthood). She had watched her grandmother die (not due to the walkers) and reanimate, so her and her crew kinda figured out that everyone was infected kinda quickly. She got separated from her parents and brother (she was at school when shit hit the fan) and everyone that was left at the school (a queer football player, two theater kids, the art teacher, the ap chem teacher, the school drug dealer, a jrotc kid, and her) kinda formed a group and just stuck together because no one ever came for them. She actually never interacted with Rick's crew, but her and her group locked down the school and reached a point where they took in any kids that had gotten separated or lost and they basically just...tried to make things a new normal... Might actually revisit her because typing this out made me realize how cool she actually was.
Least fleshed out? The CoD oc. He doesn't even have a name yet and I'm sure as fuck not giving him mine. He's a loose idea at this point.
My personal favorite? Probably my old x-men OC I made when I was 8. Don't remember shit about her other than she could talk to animals and see through their eyes, saw Wolverine as her dad (he begrudgingly dealt with this because she was young), and she was stupidly good at climbing. I've considered revamping her for shits and giggles because she was fun and contributed little to nothing. She's still my favorite though.
