Of course, it couldn't be that simple. Aziraphale needed his input — "No," Aziraphale warned, finger up and preventative, when Crowley even considered making the joke that was, really, just waiting to be formed in response, it wasn't even his fault — about which sort of a vagina to get.

"You're the one who's going to be having it," Crowley protested. 

Aziraphale's eyebrows indicated that it was being heard as less of a protest and more of a whinge. "And you'll be the one that's going to be… interfacing with it, I suppose, is the right word," he replied as they walked down the gentle slope of the Tate Modern's entrance.

"There's a lot more jokes I could make about 'interfacing with your vagina,' and I'd like you to note that I'm not saying any of them."

"Yes, dearest, I'm very impressed," but he squeezed Crowley's hand before letting go and instead curling his arm around Crowley's elbow as he lead them further into the museum, toward an exhibit called The Great Wall of Vulva and consisting, surprisingly, of exactly that.*

"Oh, they're perfectly adorable!" Aziraphale exclaimed, at just the right pitch and volume to get everyone else in the room glaring at him.

"All right, I know you've been present at about a thousand births, give or take," Crowley muttered, keeping tight hold of Aziraphale before he went wandering off. "You know what they look like. And these are just plaster."

"Yes, I know, Ceci n'est pas un pipe and all that," Aziraphale said dismissively. "But there's something rather fun about having them all lined up like so. Ooh, this one is nice," he said brightly, pointing out a vulva that looked, sure, nice enough.

"Mm, too symmetrical," Crowley countered, just for the twist of Aziraphale's mouth as he fought a smile. "My cock curves to the left a bit—"

"Yes, I did mean to ask why you have it do that," Aziraphale said, squinting up at him. "Though I rather suspect it's because you've been waiting since 1807 to tell me how you gave it a bend sinister."

"See? Now I've got you making my jokes for me," said Crowley, instead of I love you so much it used to give me hives just thinking about it. "Think we might make it after all."

Aziraphale smiled and squeezed his hand on Crowley's arm, pressing them closer together. "I never had a moment of doubt. Now, pay attention, because you might decide to try one, too. Have you ever heard of double-ended dildos?"

Surprisingly, that wasn't what got them kicked out of the Tate Modern.**

*Crowley had gone to a certain amount of effort, in the early 1900s, in encouraging painters and sculptors to name their works odd and esoteric things — Magritte had been particularly susceptible — which for some reason had been funny at the time. Aziraphale had been hugely annoyed when he'd found out, though, which had made the whole thing worth it.

**What got them kicked out of the Tate Modern was their argument over Diarmuid while they were in line at the cafe that started with Crowley asking why a sheela na gig-type arrangement wasn't being considered and had devolved (as Aziraphale tried to explain to Security) from there.

just for fun this time during 'sea of blood' I counted out all the venatori corpses I think we can be pretty sure were lucanis' handiwork before we show up (not including the ones he kills in his initial cutscene, and with an assumption that he's been at work mainly up and down in the areas we move through until we find him, not behind the locked door -- I think that's mostly the work of rampaging undead and other venatori-hoisted-by-their-own-petard suchlikes). can thus happily inform you lucanis has killed at least 32 venatori before rook and company get there. at least one of them he's impaled on their own weird crystal spike things the venatori mages cast as an AOE attack and that they're trying to keep him contained with when we find him. so he's clearly been keeping busy lol. that's my boy dispensing poetic justice and claiming some enrichment in his enclosure while he's at it good for him!

Voice actors are NOT the same as actors.

It takes a specific kind of skill-set and training to be able to warp and meld the voice. It takes a certain kind of talent and dedication to hone that talent into the ability to meld the voice and invoke emotion with one's voice alone. Actors are used to using their voice secondarily to their body language and their facial expressions. It's all mirrored back on camera. They do have nuance. But it's a different kind of nuance and a different kind of training to produce that nuance.

Voice actors might get their likeness transposed on their character's design, and maybe their mannerisms might seep into the character's animation. But when it's all said and done: their presence is in their voice. They are bringing a character to life, showing that emotion in their voice, trying to keep a specific accent, drawl, pitch, tone in that voice and keep it consistent for their recording sessions.

The voice actor is like a classically trained musician who can play first chair in a competitive, world-renown orchestra. The actor (who fills the voice actor's role) is like a moot who played violin in beginner and intermediate high school orchestra and thinks they can get into Juilliard with that 2-4 years of experience.

This doesn't mean that the HS orchestra moot can't play. They can even be really good at it. Maybe they won competitions and sat first chair. But they are not in the same league as the person who's been training their whole lives and lives and breathes to hone their craft using the instrument and all of the training they've ever acquired to perfect it. They are not meant for the same roles. They are not in the same caliber. You do not hire the HS equivalent when you want to play complex music in a competitive orchestra.

Actors are not the same as voice actors.

And furthermore, actors - especially big name actors - taking the roles of animated characters for big budget films or TV pilots makes no sense anyways when - at least in the case of TV pilots - there's not a point to hiring a big budget actors anyways. That money could be used elsewhere (like paying your animators), and the talent that is brought onto the screen for X character could then be hired on to voice said character no recasting required.

I wouldn't say voice acting as a profession is in danger exactly, but it's certainly being disrespected and overlooked for celebrity clout, and this has ALWAYS been an issue. Shoot, even Robin Williams knew that much - which is why he tried so hard not to be used as a marketing chess piece for Aladdin and got royally pissed off when it happened anyways. People shouldn't go to any movie (but especially not animated films) because "oh famous actor is in it". People should go because it's a good movie and the voice acting is good.

People who honest to god think that voice actors are replaceable because "oh well anyone can voice act" or "I like xyz celebrity so naturally it'll be good" ... Honestly I just wish you'd reassess your priorities because you're missing the point and are part of the problem.

Voice Actors ≠ Actors.

Noticing that TV and film will often have a character either have had an abortion in the past that isn't showcased on screen (and just used as part of the character's ~fucked up and twisted backstory~) OR contemplate getting an abortion in the present day but not to through with it. If only the original Saint Seiya anime was a 2014-2018 anime series instead of being aired in the 80s-90s, I can only imagine the sheer amount of animation memes that could have been done. Some of the characters are just so perfect for those, like, if this was a more animation-oriented fandom this would totally be a thing.

you know it is hard to not feel for caterina a little in my worldstate. she loses sight of lucanis for a couple of months while her other grandson has her in jail for grandmother time-out, and by the time she sees him again he is in full undying devotion mode for the guy she sent to get him back. her grandson finally brought someone home, and it's a fairly low-level elven mortalitasi whose family background is 'idk we found this baby in a crypt and liked their vibes' who will not be giving her any biological grandchildren. not even one of the politically well-connected scheming mortalitasi, which could at least have been useful (nevarra is a bustling market for the crows! twenty contracts on the king alone and still going strong! still a payday baby let the good times roll!), but one of the dutybound earnest little freaks they keep down in the necropolis to wrangle skeletons and write esoteric papers and who frankly don't care that much about murder b/c death comes to us all in its own time anyway trust us on this one. lucanis looks at him like he hung the moon, the sun, every celestial object and glittering star in the sky, like he's the only real thing in the world. and in caterina vision she sees this weird little slip of a goth mage guy wearing too much kohl who cracks jokes at strange times and is so hard to read but also gives her the unmistakable flinty 'I'll try to keep this civil if you do the same. If.' eye contact over lucanis' shoulder sometimes, with the utter grave calm that only someone who's a speaker to the dead (and the dead are savage) and who has killed several gods and wouldn't back down from second deicide if necessary could bring to bear. she sucks and deserves this and more but she also does have a whole Situation on her hands here

(I love that rye's relationship to lucanis' family is basically 'I met some of the most insufferable people. but, they also met me'. he tangoed with the god of lies and betrayal so he could waltz his way through a dellamorte family dinner relatively unscathed)
