Mizutori’s bakudeku fanfiction master list [complete works]
Really really good writing by these incredible authors. In no particular order! These are all Top!Bakugou and Bottom!Deku. If A/B/O dynamics then it’s Alpha!Bakugou and Omega!Deku. Yes, I have preferences.
Canon World – until 15k
What The Fuck Did You Just Call Me? by reading_raindrop | 8,303 | Izuku starts calling him Bakugou and it pisses the explosive teen off a lot more than he thought it would.
Oh right, you were a little sh*t by SaysiWrites | 5,653 | When Midoriya Izuku gets hit by an age-reversion Quirk, the last thing anyone expected to find out is that Toddler-Izuku is a little shit. Except for one Bakugou Katsuki, who has seen this phase one too many times already. (Bonus+ the entire Little Sh*t (Kidfic) series)
Do Not Disturb by surveycorpsjean | 10,010 | Apply enough force, and something is bound to break.
And Atlas fell by supercrunch | 15,185 | They move in together, after a while. Katsuki joins Best Jeanist and Izuku trains under Gran Torino. They still take comfort in each other every day, curl up in bed and kiss and talk about how life is going. Their live are tumultuous, after all, what with villains and training and rescuing people every week. It’s nice to have something certain. At the end of a day filled with violence and adrenaline, Izuku knows he can come home to someone concrete. It’s perfect. Being a hero is scary and grueling and uncertain, but this part is just right. And then, one day, a child dies in Izuku’s arms.
be loved by bonnia | 5,403 | The kidnapping incident leaves bakugou traumatised about being touched on the back of his neck, and midoriya decides to take matters into his own hands.
Big Protein by Mysecretfanmoments | 13,683 | Bakugou Katsuki has a thriving hero career, an agent to manage his famous attitude, and absolutely zero romantic interest in anyone. With the exception of his favourite health food joint refusing to expand to his city, his life is pretty damn perfect—so why does a viral video revealing Deku's stash of dirty mags involving him and Deku together turn everything upside-down?
Chocolate cake and resin preserved flowers by Anoksun | 11,396 | Izuku loses his memories. Katsuki struggles not to lose Izuku too.
Twin Stars by theperksofbeinglarissa | 8,435 | When Deku saves a woman's life, her quirk is accidentally activated. Her quirk? She reveals a person's soulmate. A star-shaped mark appears on Midoriya's left arm... and on Bakugou's as well. Kirishima is the only one who knows that Bakugou is Midoriya's soulmate, and Bakugou isn't taking the news very well. Can the twin stars of class 1-A work out their differences and find their happy ending?
Unhealthy Fixations by Thesis | 12,522 | Izuku is an adult who knows better than to crush on his childhood bully. AND YET.
Like the Moon by osakakitty | 14,781 | Katsuki Bakugo is having constant, erotic dreams about Izuku Midoriya. He isn’t sure why, but they won’t go away. In order to make them stop, he needs to figure out what Izuku Midoriya means to him.
Worth a Second Shot by cinnabee | 13,080 | Katsuki and Izuku celebrate registering as a Hero Duo together with a big party. What could go wrong?
Like Something Out of A Shoujo Manga by Merrywetherweather | 2,971 | Deku ends up in a rather interesting quirk accident, one that triggers flag events as if he were the protagonist of an otome game.
Canon World – 15k++
Blood Moon by lalazee | 94,860 | The Thank-Fuck-We-Aren’t-Dead Sex had started then, and had never really stopped. Then came the feelings and the fights. The ego, the pride, the jealousy. And then there was Us.
The Way You Used To Do by edema_ruh | 669,463 | During a battle, Midoriya gets hit by a villain whose quirk detaches his soul from his body. Stuck in a ghost-like state, the boy enters a race against time in order to save himself from permanently dying. Much to his luck - or lack of it -, the only person who can see and talk to him in this state is no one other than Kacchan.
Just Like Breathing by MD_Daydreamer | 35,423 | Izuku got engaged. He didn't mind. If that made Uraraka happy, he could do it. He thought his life wouldn't change much. But then, Kacchan went to live in the USA.
briar roses (and hundred years of sleep) by vannral | 15,951 | In which Izuku is hit by a ‘Sleeping Beauty’ Quirk, Class 3-A tries to find his True Love and get them to kiss him, and Katsuki’s very angry about it all.
"what's your type?" by sapphicflower | 20,192 | In order to increase their popularity rankings as up and coming pro heroes, Izuku and Katsuki participate in the most popular late night talk show for hero duos - ‘Heroes Rising!’. They’re killing it, obviously, because they know each other from inside and out. Until one question stumps the two of them: “What is your hero partner’s type?”
and it was Just Right by cinnabee | 23,759 | Katsuki spends two years post-graduation in a furious one-sided competition with his childhood friend and rival's promotional photos - until they finally run into each other, and, well. You shouldn't believe everything you see in magazines. A love story about size differences.
Notice Me, Nerd by useless_donut | 40,000 | Bakugou is in love with Midoriya. He doesn’t hide it, in fact it’s so painfully obvious that the entire class of 3-A has him figured out in a matter of months (days, in some cases). Too bad Midoriya is the most oblivious motherfucker out there, and Bakugou is too damn stubborn to actually ask him out. A love story as witnessed by the class of 3-A.
in your dreams, nerd! by sapphicflower | 37,639 | In a strange and unexpected set of circumstances, Izuku and Katsuki find themselves sharing their dreams together whenever they happen to fall asleep at the same time. Being hopelessly in love with each other, they don’t mind it all that much. What better way to spend time with your crush than in a stupidly vivid dream?
Hear Me by my_name_is_Levi | 22,419 | It wasn’t as if nightmares were uncommon for the freshman class of Yuuei. They’d seen plenty of things, heard and felt and witnessed enough travesty in their lives to last them a lifetime. But Midoriya Izuku was screaming, and no one, not even Bakugo Katsuki could ignore it.
Bridges by supercrunch | 18,018 | Bakugou is signed up for a Calvin Klein modeling gig. The thing is, they really do need the money. And Katsuki's technically the leader of this bunch of morons, so he finds himself taking the job even though his pride will never recover. And even though nobody thought to tell him that he'd be working with his ex-boyfriend. You know, the cute freckled guy from high school who went and broke his heart. So, yeah. This whole situation kind of sucks.
objective truth by mamalade | 15,390 | Izuku gets hit with a truth quirk, as one does. He seems to be handling it well—until Katsuki shows up.
catharsis by dollcewrites | 15,071 | It's been six years since Izuku graduated. It's been six years since he confessed to his childhood friend; his classmate and his inspiration. It's been six years since he deleted Bakugou's number, asked his friends not to mention the name, spent every last effort of his heart turning off the TV and averting his eyes from the newspapers. It's been six, long, long years since he gave up on Katsuki Bakugou ever loving him back.
Here here, my friends and me (You are my familia) by Jeka | 128,832 | Bakugou Katsuki has made a great job of ignoring the fact that he is tragically in love with Deku, someone who could never love him like that and let's face it, he doesn't deserve. Now that he can't ignore it anymore, he has to find a way to keep his childhood friend and move on for his own sake. Or so he had thought, maybe he can have Deku, after all. Izuku has everything he always wanted in life. But suddenly he has to navigate the most important relationship in his life through different eyes.
Canon World – Jealous!
Hands Off by SaysiWrites | 7,140 | When a new girl at school starts flirting with Bakugou, his friends quickly become invested in the idea of their friend experiencing love - even if he doesn't seem at all interested in her. What they don't see is Midoriya fuming in the background. But how can he get rid of her when they've spent so long keeping their relationship a secret?
Surfaces by surveycorpsjean | 25,225 | Katsuki has a new girlfriend, but something isn't right. As impossible as it is, Izuku can't help but wonder what it'd be like to be called Katsuki's girl.
Green-Eyed Beast by SecretKiwi | 4,721 | Everyone wants a piece of Katsuki Bakugou, but they should beware of the Green-eyed beast always lurking close behind him.
Green with Envy by Sol_Morales707 | 2,611 | Izuku Midoriya is not as innocent and pure as everyone thinks he is. The truth was he was very jealous and willing to do anything for a certain blonde.
Happy Camper by Arysa | 7,074 | Wanting a break from the stress of dealing with the rookie Pro Hero grind, a handful of students from Class A decide to go on a camping trip. Izuku's excited to relax and catch up with everyone, especially Kacchan. But, well, Kacchan's... Kacchan. And dating Kirishima.
How to stop time: kiss by Teddingtons | 31,693 | Deku finally asks Uraraka out. Everyone's supportive except Bakugou who can't even look him in the eye. Deku seeks him out after and is hit with truth.
What I Deserve by s_the_queen | 16,671 | When Izuku starts dating a student in General Studies, everyone is happy for him. She's super sweet and really caring. But something doesn't sit right with Katsuki.
Deku's Already Fucking Taken by asdfjkl129 | 20,704 | 5 times people don't realize that Deku is already in a very happy relationship and try their hand at asking him out, and then in Bakugou's unique and special style, get very firmly corrected, +1 time where no correction is needed.
His by sister_elric | 6,206 | Izuku would like to consider himself a pretty level headed individual. Sure, he had the occasional tunnel vision, especially when it came to training. And hero work. And Kacchan. But, overall, Midoriya felt as though he typically kept his cool. Well, maybe that was a stretch. But, at the very least he could understand his own emotions. So, it surprised even him when an unfamiliar emotion coursed through him as a first year approached his boyfriend, Katsuki.
Down the Red Line by MinervaHope | 7,804 | Izuku has been able to see the red strings of fate since birth. It's no surprise that his is connected to Katsuki.
Canon World – Fake Relationship Goes Wrong
how he should’ve known (and how it turned out) by vannral | 43,918 | In which Katsuki and Izuku pretend to be a couple to avoid journalists, the plan backfires magnificently because of course it does, and the act goes on. Includes feelings, pining, domestic fluff and jealousy.
Vicious by feelslikefire | 105,173 | Midoriya and Bakugou wind up in the very last position either of them thought they'd be in: Hero Partners. It's not fun, but they learn to cope. Their first big assignment together takes them undercover to infiltrate a cult, but the situation turns out far more sinister than they first thought.
What I can never tell you by Mikacrispy | 27,067 | After living in the US for 5 years, Izuku returns to take care of a concussed Bakugou who believes they're engaged. Now, Izuku has to pretend he's in a relationship with the man he's loved for most of his life, knowing that it's just a matter of time until Katsuki gets better and realizes it's all a lie.
Not-Dating by MiraChaDoodles | 14,290 | Katsuki takes Deku on a not-date to save his career, only to find himself wishing it were real.
we'll do the things that lovers do by ethereals | 29,544 | Izuku gets an invitation to Shouto's wedding and Katsuki is PISSED that he asks Kirishima to be his date (also he wasn't even fucking invited
Canon World – Friends With Benefits (?)
Four Times Bakugou Katsuki Doesn't Intend to Sleep With Midoriya Izuku (And the One Time that He Does) by fallingraine85 | 17,601 | He hadn’t planned for any of this. He isn’t about to go delving into the ball of yarn that is Midoriya Izuku’s heart; he isn’t equipped to try and untangle and make sense of it all. He isn’t about to try to analyze how he’s feeling about all of this, either.... How many times can you repeat the same mistake?
We Wear Chains on the Weekend by surveycorpsjean | 35,086 | Well, in a day of revelations, it turns out that Izuku isn't as vanilla as Katsuki previously thought. Unfortunately, that fascinating discovery is overshadowed by Izuku's dumbassery, because he has zero concept of aftercare."Don't go to anyone else," Katsuki says, because screw it. He can do a better job anyways. Or; Katsuki finds Izuku on a bad drop.
Just for Now by Shiro_Kabocha | 48,135 | Katsuki's parents are out of town over a school break and to keep him from getting up to any shenanigans, they ask Izuku to house sit with him. What are two teenaged boys to do when left alone to their own devices? (Bonus+ the entire Just for Love series)
safe in the darkness by yoonskisses | 20,855 | Izuku and Katsuki had been meeting up secretly for months, with absolutely no feelings involved. Or so Katsuki thought at least. The dorm gossip about Ochaco and Izuku's new relationship seemed to set a spanner in the works for their arrangement.
Alternative Universe – No Quirks
Bluebird by EtherealBeing | 53,108 | Dialing a wrong number was no unusual occurrence. Everyone did it once in a while, and Katsuki was well aware of that fact. However, possessing this knowledge made it no less aggravating for him to discover — a full two minutes into his rant about his day — that he’d been venting his frustrations to a complete stranger. As if that wasn't enough, said stranger was also inexplicably determined to hear his story to its end.
Someone Borrowed by mynameis152 | 138,996 | It felt like hours that he stared at Izuku, coming to terms with the fact that a man, his childhood best friend, whom he hadn’t seen since their senior year of high school, was there in front of his very eyes. Then his brows furrowed and his jaw clenched before he uttered through gritted teeth the very name Izuku had longed to hear for years. “Deku.”
Dark Side of the Sun by Synnie | 51,598 | Staying up too late playing video games, Kirishima wasn't expecting to get an urgent call begging for help. Next thing he knew, he was letting his classmate Izuku Midoriya take refuge in his apartment - without consulting his always angry roommate.
Manage Me by Justaperson1718 | 10,756 | Izuku becomes Katsuki’s model agent.

Precious Pet by Mikacrispy | 6,379 | When broke college student Midoriya Izuku found a job that offered lodging, food, and good pay for four hours of work each day, he thought it was too good to be true. But he called anyway. Turns out all he has to do is to be the spoiled little puppy of a rich businessman.
Our Eleven Summers by Dark_Mage_Ayumu | 34,472 | The first time Katsuki met Izuku was when he was eight. For the next eleven years, Izuku changed his life, and no one even knew. Their relationship was something they shared in secret.
sticky note crushes by ladyofsnails | 3,239 | Katsuki hates his roommate. The green-haired, freckled, artsy son of a bitch with his dumb pun t-shirts and paint-stained hands he can’t fucking keep to himself. Katsuki can’t leave a single assignment or paper out in his room because that idiot will just grab anything to draw on it. He’s like a shark that can’t stop swimming else it’ll die – he can’t stop drawing. Ever.
Don't Play Pretend by SweetSide | 10,103 | Actor AU: Deku and Bakugou get the leading roles for an upcoming TV Drama. They weren’t aware that they would be working with each other for who knows how long. It would’ve been completely fine if they weren’t exes.
97.6 FM by jamjars | 32,249 | Izuku can’t stop listening to the radio host with the deep voice who sounds like he’s stuck in 2010. It’s a harmless crush. That is until he starts calling into the show under the pseudonym Deku.
Read {between} Your Lines by greatcloudninja | 52,252 | Midoriya Izuku, up-and-coming actor, has finally hit his big break (...), Bakugou Katsuki, who has been acting for over twenty years. However, Bakugou seems to have it out for Izuku, leading to tension both on and off set. I’m not looking for somebody with some superhuman gifts by PassingShadow | 5,522 | Izuku is a professional cuddler and Katsuki is his new client that’s just a little rough around the edges, and needs a natural healing touch.
Alternative Universe – Quirkless Deku
A Good Old-Fashioned Tattoo AU by lalazee | 14,437 | After their paths had split, Bakugou & Deku meet again as adults. While Bakugou begins to repent for the kid he used to be, he also starts to prove himself as he the man he is now.
Call Me a Safe Bet (I'm Betting I'm Not) by WTTTD | 10,803 | He wished he had some sort of heads up before seeing Deku again for the first time after nearly two years, looking like the essence of a lazy Sunday, smiling and surrounded with brand new, adoring friends. It was a little fitting that Katsuki burned for him so badly. (Support Department Deku)
In Which Kacchan Has a Ruff Time by OneshotPrincess | 14,511 | Bakugou Katsuki gets quirked into a dog, gets adopted by an unknowing Izuku and generally has a very rough few days full of realizations
While You Were Sleeping by Belkacaramelka (annabelleg) | 71,197 | The one where quirkless fanboy Midoriya Izuku rescues Pro Hero Todoroki Shouto, gets mistaken as his fiancé while he is in a coma, and gets caught up in the most unlikely fake engagement... until his childhood enemy and Todoroki's classmate Bakugou Katsuki tries to catch him out, and they both end up discovering a lot more about each other than they'd expected.
Let Me Assist You Personally by Seeress | 32,806 | Izuku is long-suffering Personal Assistant to #1 Pro Hero Dynamight.Dynamight can't keep a PA to save his career. They all quit crying after a few days weeks. Enter, Izuku—with enough money problems to brave the jaws of the cranky beast. Childhood friend turned glorified paid slave. Somehow it all works out. ‘Kill them with kindness’, his mom had told him once. If that were true, Bakugou Katsuki would be stone-cold dead by now.
Smile For The Camera by kurokonekokilled | 19,179 | Midnight has a cam site, home to millions of users, but one catches Katsuki's eye when he goes scrolled through it in search for something to help him release a little stress. A live stream and the best orgasm of his life later, his wallet is lighter, and he might be almost as obsessed with this Deku guy as the cam boy is with him.
Just Like The Comics by brichibi | 24,935 | Where Izuku works at a comic book shop because that’s as close to a hero as he’s gonna get, and Katsuki plays the part of heroic ex-boyfriend who is good at everything except winning Izuku back... maybe
Alternative Universe – Quirks
Get on my Level by Mikacrispy | 92,273 | Bakugou Katsuki is a Pro Hero whose boss demands him to take an intern. Midoriya Izuku is a UA student who needs an internship. When the two of them are put together, they learn about what it truly means to be a Hero and what it means to be in love.
A/B/O – Secret! Baby
Home by Emerald2402 | 87,214 | Midoriya Izuku left Japan in a rush, moving to America without a word to anyone else. But then almost 11 years later he arrives back Home and Bakugou Katsuki's Alpha is furious. Fuck that, Bakugou is furious, because Midoriya Izuku, an omega he tasted one time, has been keeping a very big, very blonde haired, green eyed secret.
Those Under the Same Stars by PerpetuallyPerturbed | 325,553 | When Katsuki Bakugo left Izuku Midoriya five years ago, he thought it was for forever. He put aside dreams and wishes of the omega to focus on his career. He was going to be the best hero, after all. He couldn't have an omega getting in his way. So when he's stopped on the streets one day by a pup begging for help for his mom, he isn't prepared to face what he gave up, and what the consequences of his actions were. (Quirkless Deku)
A/B/O – Quirks
Mark Me. Make Me Yours. by decadentbynature | 10,062 | Midoriya is the only Omega at UA and he's been hiding it well but there's one issue that threatens to expose him: his attraction to an Alpha, Bakugo. After being told to give some paperwork to Bakugo, Midoriya lets him into his dorm room and is immediately overwhelmed by his scent. Unable to help himself, he gives in to his urges, only to be discovered by Bakugo but instead of becoming enraged, Bakugo decides to give Midoriya exactly what he wants
Claim Me by ScientificallySinful (VampireGaaraCheesepuffs) | 114,449 | Being an Alpha has nothing to do with Katsuki's success as a Pro-Hero, the same way Deku's Omega status hasn't kept him from becoming Number Two. Secondary gender doesn't mean anything nowadays and “mating” is an antiquated practice. So when Izuku, his rival, asks Katsuki to Claim him in the middle of the night, there is only one logical thing to say. “What the fuck?”
Change of Plans by Mikacrispy | 185,965 | Alpha Pro Hero Bakugou Katsuki never planned to get married to some random omega but what he wants isn't an option anymore. One for All wielder Midoriya Izuku has suffered injustice too many times and doesn't plan in allowing his secondary gender to dictate how he must live his life. Falling in love was never in the plans.
Going Feral For You by ANGIE_fic | 17,977 | Bakugou has an aggression problem that might have to do with his Alpha. His job is on the line because of it. So what do you do with a pent up Alpha? Yes.Rut. (Quirkless Izuku)
i live for you, i long for you by jeonjeonggukkkkkie | 19,165 | The five times Izuku hinted he wants Katsuki to spend his next heat with him, and the one time Katsuki took the hint.
Baby's First Bloom by ContraryBee | 44,945 | Izuku blooms for Katsuki one warm day in their third year of middle school. What follows is both boys learning about themselves, their bond, and the society they live in.
As Fate Would Have It by ScientificallySinful (VampireGaaraCheesepuffs) | 88,737 | Katsuki Bakugo had plenty of reasons why he wasn't mated yet, not that he was going to explain why to just anyone. But now, Ground Zero was running out of time. If he didn't find someone soon, he'd lose his position as a Pro-Hero and he'd never get to be #1. So, when he finds out there's a male Omega recently arrested for prostitution that's headed to prison if he too doesn't get a mate…well it must be fate. (Quirkless Izuku)
A/B/O – No Quirks
Gravity by warschach | 71,477 | Izuku is back in his hometown and plenty hasn't changed much from the 8 years he was gone. Except, Katsuki Bakugou, the alpha king of their small town. He's hotter- because that's fair, right, God? -, stronger, a now-famous pro fighter, and noticeably nicer this round. Not that he cares, pfft. (Fine, he cares.)
Nine Months by greatcloudninja | 23,303 | Omega Midoriya Izuku connects with Alpha Bakugou Katsuki through an online singles ad. Izuku pays Katsuki to help him with his heat, ending up pregnant in the process. What follows is a pregnancy filled with ups and downs, but whatever hurdles come their way, they can make it through together.
The long dark by Ominous-Anonymous (Ominonymous) | 13,289 | He could have been really dangerous. He could be a fucking murderer for all he knew. But Izuku Midoriya, ever the reckless daredevil, was not thinking of that when he got into a car with a complete stranger. Completely ignoring the part where his mother always taught him to never gets into cars with alphas he didn't know...

Requested ✖️
Quick link to my masterlist, if you’re interested in reading more of my crap 😬
Fuck God. This was all his fault, everything was to be fair. He had left the world to continue on its own accord, the apocalypse threatening to spill over the planet and destroy it and all beauty that was lingering through the existence of humans.
They killed each other, and the creator of all could care less. It was his smallest problem, he didn’t mind that the murderer was succumbed to guilt, or how many restless nights that he or she endured. God was cruel, even if he held up a facade of being your ally, and trying his hardest as he supposed, to be your friend.
Your hands shook as you remembered the entailment of your mistake. It was a slip up, a vast and surreal experience that people usually learned from. But what were you supposed to do, not kill a human again? Yeah you had gotten that, after all, the initial deed had not at all been intentional.
There was the victim’s blood dried upon the outer layer of your skin, casting you in the perfect image of murderous intent. However, you had no thirst to kill, instead, your hunting of monsters, alike to many others partaking in a similar lifestyle, executed the mythical beasts to protect the human population.
It pained you truly, to know that you had killed a person. You hadn’t even spared the familiar body a second glance, and out of panic, you fled the scene, leaving the body of the city cleaner in the gutter, laying in the remnants of his friends’ and family’s waste, burying him in their crude excrement.
The thought alone, and the sight that was engrained in the peripheral of your mind had you feeling sick. Slowly, you plodded down the steps of the bunker’s entrance, surely leaving footprints trademarked in all kinds of grotesque evidence.
Without much care for what lay heavily inside, you dropped your duffel from your shoulder, allowing it to fall on the ground with a disgruntled clatter. Nothing meant anything anymore, not if you were indeed a real killer. Whilst some monsters had weaselled their way into society, ending their pathetic attempts at normality was different than taking away the life of an innocent and mortal bystander.
Often, with the darker and crueler species, there were reasons as to why they pretended to be of human birth. Mostly, it was so that they could feed from the naive flock, or kill for their own amusement. Either way, none of their reasons were good.
But now, you thought of yourself as no different than them. A creature that needed to be put down for their crimes. Filing, you breathed in, only inhaling the various moulds of putridity that was weaved into your hair, and stuck to your skin like a face mask.
“Should I call you Cassie now?” At the joke, a laugh from the speaker was triggered. He was quite amused with the sight of you, and thus, you sneered at the tall man, hating him a little bit more than usual.
“Your pop culture references aren’t appreciated Winchester, it’s more Dean’s street.” Shoving past him, his high shoulder floundered back at the harsh and ignorant impact, an expression of offence covering his stupid face. Like a fawn, he tumbled after you, watching as you walked sullenly into the kitchen, yanking the door to the fridge open, and extracting one of his brother’s store bought beers.
“I’m going to guess the hunt went bad.” Sam speculated, shoving his hands into his jeans pockets, and staring expectedly down at where you popped the cap off the bottle recklessly with your teeth. He almost winced at the sight, but he wished to keep this arrogant demeanour up with you, it was a natural desire to piss you off, and he’d be pissed at himself if he let it slip out of simple pity.
“Guess correct. Well done, you’ve won a trip to Hawaii.” You waved your free hand mockingly in the air, as the other raised the liquor to your mouth, allowing you to wilfully gulp the bitter liquid down. At his presence that remained nursing over you, you cocked a brow, leaning forwards as you expectedly looked back at the moose. “Just leave me alone Sam, I’m not in the mood for putting up with your bullshit.”
He, however, seemed not to be phased by you wanting to be left alone, and instead, quickly snatched the poison out of your hand, leaving you throughly prepared to keep him right in the balls. “What the fuck?” You all but screamed at the not so jolly giant. In turn, he crossed his arms across his chest, placing the bottle down on the island.
“I could ask you the same y/n.” His tone was dominantly serious, causing you to cower back into your shroud of guilty conscience. “Tell me what happened on that hunt, of which i told you that you shouldn’t have went on alone, since you wouldn’t have been able to handle it solo.”
You felt demeaned by his words, they sparked an anger out from the firm pit of your stomach. But you knew deep down, he was getting through to you, which was something that you had not managed to even do by yourself. Air heavily passed through and out of your nostrils, as acidic tears pooled in your eyes; a crack was falling down your walls, and out of all people, it was Sam Winchester whom had caused it.
“You’re right, I shouldn’t have gone alone, but you know what, I thought of what a Winchester would do. And then I remembered, I am sure as hell not a Winchester and I don’t have a brother anymore! Not now, he didn’t even know who I was earlier, didn’t even recognise a single genetically identical hair on my head as he watched me parade through the town, the very one that I ran away from when he was a baby and I was seven, wanting to hunt a monster. Yet, i didn’t kill a damn monster Sam, I murdered my brother because you’ve been right all along, I’m not fit for this job. I am a mess, so congratulations, you finally have got me to admit the one thing that you keep reminding me of.”
“Y/n...” Sam wasn’t sure how to respond, he felt the waves of shock ripple through his body. Never so freely had you been vulnerable around him, and here you were now, with very visible tears cascading down your utterly torn face. He understood it was an accident, and the times that he and Dean had tried to kill each other under supernatural circumstances had him wondering what if.
Shaking your grime tethered head at the sound of his cracked voice, you stormed past him, and immediately raced towards the shower room, finding to your luck, which had been non existent during the rest of the day, the halls were barren of life. Walking through the door, you tore your ruined clothes off, chucking them upon the floor without much acknowledgement, before you went under the warm spray of the shower head, trying to calm yourself.
To rid your skin of its evidential accessories, you had to scrub your skin until it was immediately raw. Everything within you ached, as you flicked back to the memory of the clueless expression that had been worn by your blood brother. It was probably a good thing that he didn’t know who you were, or else, he’d have known that his own sister murdered him due to her incompetence to listen to others.
Now, you were not even sure what were your tears, and what droplets of water belonged to the shower itself. For over an hour, you basked int eh warmth that seemed unable to cure your cold blooded system, turning the spritz off, and covering your body in a fluffy towel, that you were sure belonged to someone else, but right now, you could care less about who owned what.
As you reached the door to your bedroom, you found it to be preached slightly open, and as you pushed it the rest of the way, you saw Sam sat on the corner of your bed. You held your arms around yourself, insecure on the fact that beneath the stolen towel, you were nothing more than you. A wolf in sheep’s skin.
“Can I help you?” You bitterly asked, your eyes still burning from your own faulted loss. Sam breathed in, his eyes trailing up to your face, that was naked from any gruesome cosmetics or make up. The bareness to your completion illustrated an aura of innocence, and evidence that you were the same as him - human.
“That’s my towel.” The male hunter laughed, in hopes of changing the previous and well wounded subjected to ensure that you felt better. But what was he kidding, nothing could fill the void that you had dug in your own heart, nothing was closer than the bond between siblings, even if you were considered as strangers.
“Take it back then.” Too exhausted from your gruelling day, you dropped the material, your confident action making his eyes go wide, as he tried to look away from your exposed skin to respect your boundaries. It was impossible though not to allow his hazel hues to slip up the trunks of your thighs, up to- no, that was wrong, very wrong.
You had just lost your brother, not to mention, by your own hand, and he was prone to checking out your freelancing body, taking in every curve and twisted scar that was prominent to his speculating eyes. His eyes dropped to the discarded towel, which he had purposely left on the heating rail for later use, and then, they switched back towards you.
He stood, walking behind you as you looked through comfort clothes within your dresser. A light touch of his hand brushed your hair away from your neck, as he breathed a sweet hoax of hot air upon your scare. Sam was relieved that you didn’t reject the contact, and instead, pressed his lips upon the flesh, finding succession whence you hummed deliriously to yourself.
This interaction had been inevitable for a long time, but now no longer were the suspected intentions for such an exchange to be to release well endorsed frustrations. No, he was going to clear your mind for some sensual moments, and make your pretty little head forget for a moment that you had pained yourself in the worst of ways.
Turning, you laced your hands through his chocolate locks, massaging his scalp as you pulled him closer so that your lips could endure a rougher clasp against his. There was no passion, behind each contribution there was a spur of hunger, he grasped your ass cheeks, pulling you up to be sat upon the top of your heavy dresser.
Obliging his command, you spread your legs so that he could stand between their partition, his hands now running up the windows of your thighs. For a while, the pair of you did nothing more than make out, and cup a feel here and there, but soon after, Sam dropped to his lanky knees, leaving kisses in the wake of his descent.
His thumb and forefinger spread your fluttering folds, watching as your slit squirmed for attention. Sam licked his lips at the sight, running his middle finger up the expanse, until he came to your yearning entrance. Slowly, after making sure you were wet enough, Sam slipped his digit inside, you wiggling your hips to adjust to the thrust of his one finger.
To add to the sensations that were overriding your body, he moved his mouth to closer proximity, smelling the divine aroma that pulsed out of you. It was far too addictive to not get a taste, and thus,he pulled his finger out, sucking off your juices contently.
But that small sample just wasn’t enough, which encouraged him to dive face first into your pussy - literally. His long tongue teased your folds, slurping at the lips, and then switching to your clit to heighten the stimulation. He kept up a rhythm, using it as a pattern to push you closer to that edge, and he was surely certain that you were enjoying his oral work as you ground your face against him, moaning at his succulent administrations.
“Sam.” Oh god, was it pleasant to hear his own name fall out your mouth in such an erotic manner. It was far different from the way that you usually used it to snide at him, though, the thought of your regular treatment of him aided only to spur his lustful actions on. He wanted you to cum, for your juices to run down his face in waterfalls, looking as though someone had tried to drown him.
His work would not be complete until you found it difficult to even pronounce his short name. Digging his tongue in the hood of your clit, tracing around the protective area, his fingers returned to their earlier placement, and he quickened their pace until he could hear a satisfying squelch in the air.
Rapid sounds of parted moans raked from your mouth, your chest sticking out as you breasts heaved with your heavy breathing. It was noticeable that you were close, not just from that, but you were squeezing the circulation out of his fingers. “Fuck.” Left you in the form of a squeal, as you pussy wept its juices.
Sam was quick to lap everything that left you up, once more, tasting those that clung to his fingers. He went back in for another taste, but you tightly grouped his hair, pulling him away from your sopping cunt. “Need you to fuck me Sam, now.”
In an instant, the hunter stood, working precariously on undoing the buckle of his belt, and pushing all material that covered his lower half to the bottom of his thighs. He read already hard, and oozing precum. You swept your finger across the tip of his dick, bringing it to your lips to taste his foreshadowing seed.
Sam huffed at the sight, picking his prick up in one hand, and jerking himself a couple of times. And then, he aligned himself with you, rubbing his cock around your wet crevice a couple of times, slapping his tip teasingly against your puffy clit.
“Want my cock baby?” He asked, smirking as he watched you nod your head repeatedly. With that being all the confirmation that he needed, he pushed into you, feeling even more turned on as he heard you mewl, and watched the ecstatic expression cross your face as his dick fit inside of you all the way.
He grasped your hips, pulling out once before pushing in again. He repeated the action, his own eyes rolling to the back of his head at how tight you were. This would make you forget the cruel method of god, his story was not as epic as he though, for his characters were screwing against his will, basking in a distraction rather than the regretful pain that seethed in your trodden heart.
Another thrust had your nails clasping onto Sam’s covered back, biting onto his shoulder through the plaid, as you held back the tears that were trying to creep out of your blissful eyes. A few grunts left Sam, as his pace increased, and with every thrust, which only served to fuel him further, the dresser smashed into the wall behind it, most likely leaving a decent dent within the historical architecture.
“Gonna cum.” You told him, dragging him in for another tongue filled kiss as your cunt pooled around him, coating his cock in the honey from your delicious pot. He soon followed after, and for a moment, he remained against you, allowing you to bask in the comfort of his strange presence.
And then he pulled out, watching as his distraction dripped from your entrance, trailing down your thigh in a white streak. An orgasm smile was pulled onto your face, but it was certain to not last long for when you returned to the reality that laid waiting for you to return.
Sam stepped closer again, moving his fingers towards your cunt, and pushed his seed back inside of you, watching as your puffy pussy lips swallows any part of him that it could get. He would distract you for as long as he could, and then, deal with the inevitable.

— Discoveries
Characters: Miya Atsumu, Reader, Miya Osamu
Word Count: 650
A/N: I have no idea what this is or why I did that. But if I had to write this with my own hands, eyes and brain, you guys have to read it.
the amount of times I've laughed and gave myself a headache as I wrote this... phew...
It’s all normal at first.
Dating Miya Atsumu, The Miya Atsumu is a dream come true. Gentler than the public makes him out to be, kinder than the energy he radiates during his matches, a distracting humor when needed, considerate when called, looks to match his personality and so much more for you to discover.
Arranging times and dates to meet up was a struggle at times but something you could work on, the meet ups would be always worth the wait. As things started to develop and get more serious, you two met each other’s friends and close ones. A formality maybe and a sign of commitment too.
It wasn’t even a special day when it happened. You were going through Atsumu’s wardrobe to find one of your blouses you left one night, and maybe to steal a hoodie of his too. You weren’t even paying attention much, just humming a tune stuck in your head, swinging slightly to the melody. When you first saw it, you rubbed your eyes once, twice… Not a trick of the light, not a figment of your imagination. You left his place immediately that day and went through your contacts. It couldn’t be real. It made no sense, there was no way.
A little thing here and there maybe but they were nothing out of the ordinary. Listening to Car Seat Headrest didn’t equal to that, neither did liking movies such as the Ratatouille or Beauty and the Beast...
A shaky finger pressing the bright contact name, you waited for it to dial.
“Hello? How can I help you?” “Can I come over to your place real quick? It’s about Atsumu.”
And so that is how you found yourself at Miya Onigiri, sitting at a table across the owner Miya Osamu himself. The heavenly smells surrounding the both of you doing nothing to calm your nerves, you explain what you saw to Osamu. Closing his eyes slowly, head hanging low, you can hear him let out an exhausted sigh.
“I hoped he had changed, grown out of this… phase. I never foresaw it could reach this stage.” Seeing the puzzling look in your eyes, he tells you about their younger years. You never thought you’d dread discovering a new side of Atsumu this much.
As days pass and the incident left behind, but never fully or completely behind, it gets tenser for you. Even if Atsumu notices, he doesn’t comment. You suggest his brother’s Onigiri place for your dates more often, including him in conversations more and more. He seems happy the two important people in his life seem to get along so well. And yet something tells you that a part of him grows suspicious.
When you have free time to yourself on Atsumu’s busy days, you find yourself with Osamu more often. What first starts as making a plan to do something in return, to stop it or to leave a heavy blow, it blooms into something more.
With trust comes friendship, growing comfortable around one another, getting accustomed to each other’s presence. And with this comes understanding, discovering, accepting and caring. He becomes an important part of your life before you can notice it. The same way you can’t pinpoint the exact day you became friends with Miya Osamu, he can’t pinpoint the exact date he fell for you, and you for him.
As you grow closer to one Miya, you drive away from the other. With faint steps and in silent waves. It comes so naturally, maybe it was meant to be.
As Atsumu holds the letter written by you, signed by the both of you, he reads over and over again. Because it cannot be, it couldn’t be. You wouldn’t do that to him. But as clear as the weather that day, you’re miles away from him already, with Osamu on your side, giving you a heart warming smile.
As Atsumu stares at his phone, torn apart on whether he should call or not, you and Osamu are already on your honeymoon, paid with the money you got for selling your ex-boyfriend’s fursuit.

Promise, You Won’t Fall In Love With Me
He never knew love. He never understood relationships. He never imagined his life after high school or outside of his fame. She was the opposite. She deeply loved her family, she had ambition, intelligence and drive. They were the complete opposite, but together, they wouldn’t know what to do without each other.
Inspired by the movie A Walk To Remember.
Senior year. The year all the students turn 18, throw the wildest parties, the lifelong dreams of getting acceptance letters from their dream college. However, the Ethan Dolan didn’t have to worry about that one bit. He already had a future. He would continue making video comedy content online for his millions of girl fans that adored his soft eyes and bright smile. After this year he would move to California to pursue even bigger dreams, leaving his heart in New Jersey.
The hallways and outside the school yard filled with laughter, hugs, girls wearing close to nothing, and the guys drooling over them. Ethan walked in holding his football, jersey on full display, taking in the last first day of any schooling he’d ever get.
“My boys!” One of his friends, Jason, exclaimed. He hugged both Grayson and Ethan and put both arms around them walking into school. “This going to be the best year yet?”
“Oh you know it! The parties, the easy classes, the girls!” Grayson rubbed his hands together and laughed.
Ethan’s laughed along with his friends walking into the building, when the most unexpected girl caught his eye at her locker. It was Y/N. He had known her since kindergarten, she always wore the same type of outfit: a pastel skirt to her knees and a blouse with the same beige knitted sweater. Her hair always out of her face either in a ponytail or behind her ears, and she wore a brown shoulder bag to carry her books. They never particularly talked or even hung out together, but he somehow knew everything superficial about her. She never paid him any attention, except in class when he tried to be disruptive on purpose. He weirdly wished she would pay attention then. But he’s hooked up with prettier girls than her, so she wasn’t one to be upset over, right?
“Ethan Dolan, to the principals office. Ethan Grant Dolan, please come to the principals office.” They all heard, even Y/N. Their eyes met for a split second, before she closed her locker and headed to home period.
“Damn dude, trouble on the first day?” Jason joked.
“Shut up man. You know I’m the model student.” He smirked, shaking hands with his friends before headed to the office, which happened to be right across from Y/N’s home period, not like he noticed. He swiftly walked into the office and sat in the chair in front of principle Henderson, who closed the door with a stern look on his face.
“Ethan, what did I tell you about getting into trouble again.” He crossed his arms.
“Principle Henderson, I don’t know what you mean but I have been an angel since last semester, haven’t I?” He flashed that boyish smile of his that got him out of every situation, just not this one.
The principle proceeds to pull out 5 beer bottles and 2 bitter nubs of used joints. Ethan stiffened, his mouth running dry.
“I have no idea what those are.” He said quietly.
“Cut the act Dolan. Along with drinking and smoking on school property, you’re on the verge of not graduating. You have a combined GPA of 2.3. You need at least a 2.9 to graduate. Now I could expel you and kick you off the football team now...” Ethan begins to worry sit up straight, trying not to believe this could be true. “But I won’t.” Ethan looked up at him with a big sigh, eyes falling shut.
“Thank you, thank you so much Mr.Henderson I promise I’ll be even better-”
“You didn’t let me finish. Instead of doing all that, you’re going to be doing something for me. You will get a tutor which I will assign to you, and you’ll be spending time after school participating in our schools fall play.”
“Oh cmon Mr. Henderson you can’t be serious. I can’t act, at all.”
“You acted like you didn’t know where that bottle came from. And now you’ll act as the prince in our schools production of Beauty and the Beast.” Ethan struggled with the principles decisions, but if he didn’t do it he would’ve been destroyed having to give up his friends and football.
“When do rehearsals start.” He said plainly.
______
At lunch, instead of being in the lunchroom with his group of friends laughing and being dorks together, he was stuck in the library for the next 45 minutes, waiting for whoever his new tutor is. He tapped his pencil impatiently. All he had to do was pass English and Government/Economics with at least a 75% and he’d be golden, but even he didn’t know how he could manage that. He looked around, and heard the library door open in front of him, revealing the golden eyed girl walking in with such ease. Her eyes found his and slightly pulled at her bag strings nervously. He sighed in disbelief, of course the girl with straight A’s, captain of the science club and the church singer was his tutor.
“Hi Ethan. I’m Y/N, your tutor for this semester.” She said in a soft voice just above a whisper. “Today we’re just going over basics explained in the syllabus but it won’t take long, maybe 25 minutes so you’ll be able to run off with your friends.” She took a seat in front of him, opening up the Government textbook and her notebook with the classes syllabus laid out.
“I don’t need you to do me any favors okay, I just need to pass. I would think you’d want me here considering Ms. I’m-so-holy doesn’t have many friends.” He spat at her. Partially because he felt embarrassed, partially because he didn’t want to give her any impression that he in any way cared about her. It didn’t even phase her, being that her whole life was filled with constant ridicule and bullying. She stayed calm amidst his venomous words.
“The teachers are my friends, my church choir are my friends, my father is my friend. Please don’t pretend like you know me, Ethan. You haven’t even spoken to me ever.”
“But I’ve been going to school with you and living in the same neighborhood as you since we were 5. Your father is a prodigious doctor that always goes to church to watch you sing. You’ve lived in the same white house with the pink flowers surrounding the white painted porch. You always wear pastel colors because you like to be girly but don’t want attention. You started putting your hand back in middle school because it always got in your face when you were studying. I know you Y/N. Don’t act like you don’t know me either.”
“I know you Ethan. Which means I know you’re capable of doing greater things than being the stereotypical jock. You’re successful and talented and smart, learn to use it. Now let’s get started.” She said without even looking at him, and staring daggers into her book.
_____
After school, Ethan trudged his way to the schools theatre, where everyone would be meeting up for the parts and the production of the play. No surprise that Y/N was there, script in hand near the piano, while someone playing ‘Beauty and the Beast’, and she hummed along. The stage lights somehow made her skin shine brighter, and her hair glisten. He scoffed, and sat in the 3rd row, seeing all of the theatre nerds gather with smiling faces ready to start production.
“Alright everyone settle down. We are going to cast roles right now so listen up!” Ms. Davida clapped her hands and stood in front of the stage.
“For the role of Lumiere and Cogsworth, Louis and Jeremy! Mrs. Potts goes to Claira, Gaston goes to Derrick, Belle goes to of course, Y/N, and The Beast is played by the newest member to theatre Mr. Ethan Dolan.” Ethan knew he would get the lead, but Y/N did not. Her eyes spread wide, whites fully visible as her grip on her script tightened just slightly, the realization that she’d have to play his princess. She could barely handle his demeanor during tutoring, but in something that she loves to do she would only hope he wouldn’t ruin it for her.
“Opening night is in exactly 3 months just before Christmas break, so that means you’ll all need to work hard and together to make this production amazing but I believe in you all. So let’s get right to it! Ethan, Y/N on the stage please we will be starting with the scene when Belle and the Beast argue, right after he saves her from the wolves. Feel the anger, feel the frustration.” She had that typical musical theatre teacher ‘passion voice’, really trying to emphasize the feelings within the scene. Ethan couldn’t take her seriously, laughing as he jumped onto stage and grabbing ahold of a script.
“Y/N, you start and pretend that you’re cleaning up his wound.”
Y/N slightly rolled her eyes and put her hand out signaling Ethan to give her his arm. He sighed and slammed his arm into her palm, she then yanked it closer to her not caring if it hurt him, and pretended with her other hand to be patting it.
“If you’d hold still it wouldn’t hurt it as much!” She yelled her first line. Ethan could tell some of that frustration was real. So he decided to do the same.
“Well if you wouldn’t have run away, this wouldn’t have happened!”
“If you wouldn’t have frightened me I wouldn’t have run away!”
“Well you shouldn’t have been in the West Wing!”
“Well you should learn to control your temper.” She said plainly, as if it was an actual piece of advice.
“Now hold still. This might sting a little.” In the script it says for Ethan to wince in pain, so he did, just not well at all. It was forced, and painfully bad to watch his face squint uncomfortably. Y/N sighed, turning to the teacher.
“Ms. Davida he needs to take this seriously, some of us really want this play to go well.”
“I don’t even want to be here, I was forced to join the play, I could’ve gone my entire life without acting in a play.”
“Then leave.” She stepped forward in his face, quickly walking away towards backstage to get some air. He made her so angry. His cocky attitude, his rude tone of voice, the way he could get under her skin over and over again yet she still wanted to see good in him because she truly believed he had some left. Ethan looked off with a surprised face to see all the cast looking at him, and the principle standing at the edge of the theatre, arms crossed. He got nervous, making his way backstage to catch Y/N drinking some water.
“Y/N, hey Y/N, please listen to me.” He grabbed her hand but she angrily pulled it back.
“What.”
“Help me okay. I’m sorry, I really need to do great in this play or else I get expelled. I’m sorry for being so mean and always in your face. I just-this is all new to me.”
“Being nice to someone trying to genuinely help you is ‘new to you’?” she used air quotes, rolling her eyes taking another sip of water.
“No, trying new things. Trying to be good. I’ve always acted tough on purpose because I thought that’s how it should be. People give you more respect.”
“Your act only works on an audience.” Y/N saw through it since first day of kindergarten when he stole her crayons and snored next to her ear during nap time to annoy her. But she paid no mind, there were more important things to worry about than a little boy.
“Ethan, if you promise me you try, like really try, in all aspects, I won’t be opposed to helping you.” She said calmly, with her normal soft voice.
“I won’t say I’ll be perfect, but I’ll do the best I can.”
“That’s all I ask.” She started walking back onto the stage where they were already rehearsing another scene, but she quickly turned back around to say one last minor detail.
“Oh yea and Ethan, one more thing. You have to promise not to fall in love with me.”
A chuckle came from his mouth as he looked her up and down.
“Without a doubt, that is a promise I can keep.”

Chapter 3
Moon screamed in shock and pain as she gasped for air, falling on her side, her vision blurred as she tried to sit up. “Yah! stop overreacting, I know what I’m doing, it’s not severe” but before his sentence finished, Moon had already fainted. Kneeling down next to her, he shook her body, assuming she was bluffing. “Hey, wake up” but to no avail, inspecting her wound, he saw no signs of a serious injury, his knife wasn’t that big, so the cut couldn’t be too deep nor was there excessive blood loss, which confused him as to why the girl fainted. He picked her up and sprinted out of the gym. Carrying her towards the infirmary, he stopped midway thinking to himself about how he was going to explain the situation, and there was no way that the leader wouldn’t find out about this, which worried him even more. Looking at the unconscious figure in his arms, he knew he messed up real bad.
To his dismay, when he opened the door to the infirmary, the leader was inside, joking around with Anna, “She’s not dead” he spoke before either of them could question him.
“How did this happen?” CB inquired
“Long story” HH answered putting Moon on the bed
Anna started working on the wound as the two boys engaged in the conversation.
“The wound isn’t very deep, was there too much blood loss?” the brown haired girl asked, interpreting the two boys
“No, that’s the confusing part, why did she faint?” HH spoke
“Probably from the shock” CB stated
“I’ll still need blood samples, something doesn’t seem right. She once came to me for painkillers after training with Changbin, saying she had a headache and was feeling dizzy, I shrugged it off thinking it might be because of hunger or low blood sugar since I have that all the time. But her fainting like this, I think it might be something else. Chan could you hand me that kit” Anna explained pointing towards the said kit
“Hwang stabbing her was a little too much man” Chan spoke, handing Anna the kit
“Oh and IV drip as well from that cupboard”
“Yeah yeah, I know, I admit this was my fault, but it was kinda accidental” he defended himself
“Hyunjin dear, there is no such thing as kinda accidental, you either stabbed her or it was an absolute accident, please choose one” Anna sarcastically spoke while attaching the canola to Moon’s arm
“Well I meant to make a small cut but my hand slipped and I ended up stabbing her, but before I could even say anything, she just screams one second and is out cold the next” he explained
“She’s a feisty one, you should sleep with your eyes open, she’ll definitely get you back for this” Chan laughed
“You se-” Hyunjin was cut off as Woo and El entered the infirmary
“I need the pill” El told Anna
“You know Woojin, it wouldn’t kill you to get a condom.” Chan told the older
“Nah that’s too much work” El replied popping the pill in her mouth
“It’s literally just rolling it on, how is that too much work” Hyunjin questioned
“TMI bro!!!” Anna shouted
“Alright that’s enough” Woojin spoke
“What happened to her?” El asked looking towards Moon’s unconscious figure
Anna lifted the blanket from the side to show her the stitches. “Could you let the girl be???? Don’t you think stabbing her was a little too much” El said samacking Hyunjin across the head
“Owww!!!”
“Woojin could you please get this blood tested?” Anna asked, handing him the blood sample
“Yeah sure” he took the blood and left the infirmary
“How long do you think she’ll be out?” Hyunjin asked
“I’m not su-” Anna got cut off hearing a groan coming from behind them, the three turned around to see Moon sitting up on the bed. The moment she spotted Hyunjin she threw the sheets off her and leaped at him “I’M GOING TO KILL YOU” she shouted, before Moon could touch him, Chan casually grabbed her waist and bought her flush against his chest, stopping her from hurting Hyunjin or herself. However Moon wasn’t having any of it as she struggled against his hold trying to get to Hyunjin. “Calm down princess, you don’t want to open your wound”. Moon’s heartbeat increased hearing that pet name and the fact that his hand was on her bare stomach didn’t help either. Hyunjin stuck his tongue out and ran out the infirmary.
Moon sighed loudly and cursed under her breath. “How long was I out for?” she asked turning around to face the Chan
“About an hour, maybe less” Anna answered
“Do you have any iron supplements?” Moon asked running a hand through her hair
“Why do you need those?” Chan asked
“I’m anemic” she answered
“Oohh, must’ve been the reason you passed out” Anna put the dots together
“The blood test isn’t of any use now” Chan said
“When did yo-” Moon was about to ask when she looked down at her arm, which was bleeding around the canola, “-is this supposed to be happening?” Moon asked extending her arm towards Anna
“No it’s not and it wouldn’t have happened either if you hadn’t tried to jump Hyu- HH so aggressively” she said taking her arm to remove the canola
“Now go easy, you don’t want to ruin the stitches, so it’s best to just rest” Anna said after cleaning her arm.
“What about training?” she asked
“Phase 1 and 2 will be put on hold, you’ll train with Dandy, I.N and Liv, that’s phase 3, we’ll just have to determine your position first” Chan explained
“Don’t get your stitches wet, and come get them checked next week” Anna told Moon, who nodded her head and left.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had been 3 weeks since the incident and Moon had been training with the three as told by the leader. During this time she learned that she was not fit to be in the Medic Team. Liv had tried her best to teach the older girl the basics, however it never ended in a good way. After almost killing J.One, Chan decided that it was enough and that more time shouldn’t be wasted.
The gang was once again gathered in the meeting hall, this time to test Moon’s skills in tech.
“There isn’t much to it, I hacked into the phone through which my dad was contacted, but not even minutes later the signal was lost, and the location I picked up was somewhere near a river. I managed to hack the traffic cams around the area and tracked the car CB97 go- is there some easier name I can call you, CB97 is weird. Anyways I tracked the car back” Moon explained when asked how she found them
“Impressive, and you may call me Chris” the leader replied making everyone gasp, considering this was against protocol
“Chris. Hhmm I like it, has a nice ring to it” Moon muttered
“But what we can’t understand is how we couldn’t track back to you?” Dandy questioned
“This one is connected to the projector?” Moon asked pointing towards Dandy’s laptop
“Yeah”
“I.N, can I have yours?”
“Sure”
She took the computer and started typing away on it. 20 minutes later she spoke
“Okay, now both of you, try and hack into this using Dandy’s laptop”
“Excuse me? What did you do to it?” Dandy snatched it away from her
“Nothing, just please do what I asked” Moon said
Dandy looked at her skeptically but nonetheless began the task. Moon grabbed I.N’s laptop again to continue doing what she was. Everyone could see what Dandy and I.N were doing and the atmosphere was starting to get thick. “I’m in” Dandy spoke, Moon pressed a few keys on I.N’s laptop and everything on Dandy’s screen disappeared. “What the fuck?!?!?!?” Dandy exclaimed
“How did you do that?” I.N asked surprised, his eyes as big as saucers
Moon giggled at the younger’s adorable expression and moved between him and Dandy. Taking Dandy’s laptop she started clicking away as she explained what she was doing, “So basically the hacker thinks they’ve gotten in, when in reality they’ve only reached a dummy server, the moment they fall for the decoy, I’ll be notified that someone is trying to break in, and if i do this-” she pressed a few keys “-the whole algorithm will reset and everything they did will be erased”
“How did you do this?” HH asked
“How come Dandy didn’t know about this? He’s the head of all this tech stuff” J.One chirped in
“Because I built this software to avoid legal issues. So no one knows about this” Moon answered
“Not bad shorty, looks like you can contribute after all” Woo smirked
Moon wanted to say something snarky but decided against it, getting on HH’s bad side got her stabbed, she didn’t want to think about what could happen if she pissed off a sniper.
“Well this concludes that Phase three is over and you’ll be put in the Tech Team with Dandy and I.N” Chris spoke
(A/N: I did not do a fact check, and I don’t know shit about hacking, please bear with me)
“What about my field test? What if I want to be on the task force?” Moon asked
“Shouldn’t you stick to what you’re good at princess, make things a bit easier for yourself” that pet name got her feeling butterflies in her stomach
“Too boring, I want some action in my life”
“Joining a gang should be action enough” Lee Know said
“At least give me chance, you said there would be a field test, if I pass that, let me be on the task force” Moon requested
“Okay, complete phase 1 and 2, if you pass, I’ll accept your request” Chris said
“I thought I already passed phase 1? I won with all three of my instructors” Moon stated
“Not with me” HH interrupted
“You cheated” Moon replied
“I told you there will be no such thing as fair play when you’re in the field”
“But I had you pinned down with my knife to your throat, what did you want me to do, kill you?”
“Your body language said it all, your hands were shaking, you were hesitant, even if it were someone else underneath you, you wouldn’t have been able to kill them, that’s why I stabbed you, to show you what happens if you’re not quick” he explained
“You don't know me!! I’d have killed anyone else, it was you that I was nervous, I didn’t want to accidentally do something that’d get me in trouble” she defended herself
“Well how flattering, so glad to know I’m of importance to you” HH said sarcastically
“Don-”
“STOP IT!!! BOTH OF YOU” Chris shouted
“That’s enough. Moon you’ll fight me tomorrow in the ring, if you defeat me, you’ll start phase 2, if not, you’ll continue with SpearB. Dismissed.” Chris said and left the room, everyone following behind.
Hyunjin ran after the leader calling out to him “Chan wait!”, Chan turned around to face him
“Yeah?” he asked
“Why didn’t you put me with her to train, why Changbin?” Hyunjin asked
“Because I don’t want her to end up back in the infirmary due to a childish rivalry” Chan answered
“You seem to care a lot about our new member” Hyunjin smirked
“Watch your mouth or you’ll be the one in the infirmary” the older said turning around, his ears turning red.
“Mouth or hands?” Hyunjin called out. The moment those words left his mouth, a knife went flying past his head. The younger was completely unfazed until a scream was heard from down the hallway. “Shit!” the leader cursed as they both ran towards the source of the scream.
“And I was going to put her in the infirmary” Hyunjin laughed looking at Moon who was clutching the side of her neck with blood trickling down. Chan raised his fist and Hyunjin ran away shouting a bunch of sorries. “Is this a subtle way of saying, ‘please kill yourself and make things easier for us’” Moon sarcastically questioned
Chan released a breathy laugh and replied “Sorry, this one’s on me, let me help you with that”.
“Please do bef-” Moon started losing her balance, Chan hurriedly grabbed her waist balancing her “woah there” he said looking down at her weak figure
“Before I pass out” she completed her sentence, standing up straight with Chan’s help.
“The cut isn’t very deep, it doesn’t need stitches, a simple bandage will do” Chan spoke, inspecting her wound
“That’s a relief,” she replied. The room filled with comfortable silence as Chan cleaned her wound and started bandaging it.
“How come you’re not fazed by anything” Chan asked focused on Moon’s neck
“Fazed as in?” Moon questioned
“I don’t know, you joined a gang 6 months ago, you were quite calm for that and after the beginning of training you were normal, you would be covered in bruises but you’d continue about your day as if it's not even there.” he told looking in her eyes, now done with treating her neck
“Everyone has a story” Moon whispered
“What’s yours?” he asked, hand cupping her neck, thumb gently rubbing her cheek
“Not the best one” she answered leaning into his touch
“Why?” he asked after a few seconds
“Why what?”
“Why did you look for him, why, even though he was abusive?”
“I never sa-”
“I saw. The night you left, I followed you out, and I saw everything” he cut her off.
Moon sighed closing her eyes “I don’t know, it’s complicated. I didn’t want to, but at the same time I wanted to, it was all so confusing” she answered opening her eyes, meeting his honey brown ones
“What would you have done if I didn’t let him go? Would your life be peaceful right now” he asked, suddenly feeling weird towards her.
“I don’t know. I guess I wouldn’t have left, I would’ve forced you, even if it got me killed. I didn’t want to look for him but I did, for my mother. Being honest, my life is much more peaceful than it was back at home” she told. At this Chan let out a series of laughs, his head resting on her shoulder as he kneeled in front of her. “What’s so funny?” She asked giggling
“You, you are one of a kind. Who the hell says, they’re peaceful being in a gang” he said getting up, extending his hand out to her. She just shrugged her shoulders, taking his hand and standing up. “At least now I can fight back when someone hits me” Moon says as they both exit the infirmary.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Stabbing is not allowed. Pinned under, with a knife against the throat, one of us concedes, cut somewhere where a vital organ is, passing out, counts as losing. Since stabbing is not allowed any cuts made will be considered stab wounds, meaning if the cut is big it insinuates that the victim bleeds to death” Chan explained as Moon and him stood in the middle of the gym ready to fight with the rest of the members watching.
Moon threw a punch to Chan’s throat, he successfully dodged it grabbing Moon’s arm and twisting it. She went to kick his leg but he threw her on the ground before her leg could touch his. Chan lunged forward to punch her when she rolled over causing him to hit the ground. Moon quickly got up and locked her arm around his throat, she tightened her hold trying to choke him but he leaned forward flipping Moon over causing her to fall flat on her back. Chan jabbed her with his elbow making her groan, she retaliated by kneeing him in the head, Chan fell back giving her the perfect opportunity to get back on her feet. Moon kicked Chan in the side making him stumble, quickly straddling him, she pulled her dagger to attack, however Chan was quick to react. He twisted her arm making her drop the weapon, successfully flipping them over, Chan now had Moon under him. But before Chan could draw his weapon at her, she headbutted him. Chan grabbed his nose groaning in pain, Moon took this opportunity and pushed him off herself and ran towards her weapon. Chan quickly recovered and grabbed her arm pulling her back, he turned her around and wrapped his hand around her neck choking her, evoking a scream due to the pressure on her wound. She started scratching his arms to get him to loosen his grip but it was useless. She put one feet on his chest while holding his arm, steadying herself, she hauled her other leg over his shoulder and around his neck. While Moon tried to elbow him in the head he grabbed her waist and pulled her back. Moon wrapped her other leg around his head as well making him bow his head, taking advantage of the position she put both her palms on the ground and with much difficulty she managed to flip them both over. Chan landed on his back with his head between her thighs. Moon tightened her hold trying to choke him which proved useless. Chan was both larger and stronger than her, taking advantage of his strength, he squeezed her thigh bruising it, however Moon was unfazed and kept tightening her legs, Chan grabbed her other leg and pulled them apart. Getting up he pulled her towards himself by her leg. Putting his legs on either of her waist he straddled her, he pinned both her wrists above her head and leaned closer to her, “Not so tough now, huh princess”. She’d be lying to herself if she said that the close proximity didn’t make her heart flutter. Looking up at his smug expression she knew he was doing it on purpose knowing how it affected her. Moon reached forward and attached her lips to his catching everyone off guard. Taking advantage of his shocked state, she kneed his back pushing him off. Quickly getting up and grabbing her weapon, “Not so tough now, huh daddy” the words left her mouth before she could stop them.
“Enjoying yourself baby girl?” he asked trying to grab her, but Moon was fast and swung her knife making a huge cut from his shoulder, across his chest to the side of his abdomen. “More than you can imagine” she smirked stepping away from him.
“That’s definitely going to leave a scar” Woojin spoke
“Don’t worry, Moon’s gonna kiss it better” Hyunjin joined in
“I won, now I get a field test as promised” Moon said before anyone else could pass any comments
“Not yet princess, you still have phase 2 to complete” Chan answered
“How long will that take?” she whined
“Depends on how fast you learn to shoot a weapon” Woojin said
“Why are you so eager for a field test anyway?” Bree asked
“Because it’s boring in here, I wanna go out” Moon answered
“Being almost stabbed to death twice is boring?” Anna exclaimed
“I need more spice” Moon shrugged
Chan grabbed her wrist and started dragging her with him. “Where are you taking me?” she asked, trying to get out of his grip. “To make your life more spicy” he simply said before dragging her out of the door.

Surprise, surprise!
Hey guys!
This month I saved this sweet surprise for you all. Believe me, it was a surprise for me as well. I never thought it could happen someday and to have this content to offer you guys is really something impressive and almost unbelievable to me.
I have been working hard on edits and fictions all this time to provide the events from the "Uncrowned King's Thursday" to the "5 Crowns Weekend" and, somehow, it filled my life with joy, so add this small interview as a part of this event - especially for THIS prince you all know is my favorite haha - is something very special and a huge gift. Maybe the hugest a fan could ever get from its idol.
Well, let me stop the rounds and rounds and tell you what this surprise is all about: dear David Lindström agreed in answering some questions for me to publish here, for you guys!
We all know our sweet bardic prince launched on July 12 the first single of his album to come, a beautiful song named "Autumn". If you didn't hear it yet, you're losing a hit! However, I didn't lose time and pre-saved my single and my chance to have this amazing content for you guys!
Enjoy!

Me: First of all, and once again, thank you for this amazing opportunity! Considering this small article will be published in an event about Sigurd, I would like to start with a few questions related to him if you allow me. Would you mind telling us a bit of what was the meaning of this character in your life as an actor? How did it contribute to your professional career, acting style, and personal life?
David: My pleasure! Obviously, the role of Sigurd has been extremely important for my career, giving me exposure and resources that I would otherwise never have had at this point which in turn has made possible almost everything I do today. But it was actually the process around getting the role that impacted me the most personally and that has affected the way I approach acting, music, and life in general. Here’s the story: When I got to the open audition for the sons of Ragnar at 07:30 in Stockholm there was already a line outside the building with 200 giant dudes in a Ragnar mohawk, each and every one having about as much mass in their beards as I had in my entire body at that point. I realized that I was never going to get the job by competing with these guys on who’s the biggest, baddest warrior so if I were going to do this at all I’d have to take a different approach. I had the belief that even in the Viking age not everyone could have been the giant beasts that we associate them with, so what if I could present a character that was a little more sensitive, slender and insecure? Even better, what about a Viking in his awkward teenage phase, gradually growing into the legend he would later be known as? I took a shot and was told from the start that I was unlikely to get the part, but there was something interesting in my interpretation so I was still brought back repeatedly up until the final audition in Ireland. At this point, I was auditioning both for the role of Sigurd and Ivar, with the latter having a flamboyance and hubris that was suppressed in Sigurd. When all was done Travis Fimmel and Alexander Ludwig came into the room for a group shot, during which I awkwardly waved to the camera and was promptly called out by Travis and told that I could forget landing the role. I’ll admit that I believed him, and part of me would continue to believe him all the way through filming and even long after. But what was so special about the whole thing was that from the very first second I was put in a situation where I was forced to believe that I had something unique to bring to the table, if I didn’t go all in on embracing my differences I could as well forget it. So, whereas I’d never normally trust my instincts and go out on a limb that way, when that became the only option, I had a chance to see for myself that it can be worth it. Ever since, I try my best to remember how hopeless it all seemed until it suddenly worked out, and that no matter how inferior and incompetent we feel at times, it’s our unique combination of flaws that make us valuable, exciting and irreplaceable.
Me: We’re a large community of Vikings fans, passionate about the series, their actors, and everything related to the world your talent helped to bring for us. This community embraces the characters with such love, that many of us write fictions about the series, giving our beloved characters what we think they should achieve or deserved. How it is it for you to know there are such fanfictions and that - in a great number of them - Sigurd was described with a different ending, where his life followed the curse of history and he became a king, or he found love, had children, etc.? How does it feel for you to know so many people wanted a better life and a sweet ending for your character?
David: It’s incredibly humbling to see the passion and investment that so many of you put into the character’s fate. It’s a hard feeling to describe, but it’s sort of just the reassurance of having a whole bunch of great artists on your side. Even though the reason behind Sigurd’s fate has been somewhat explained to me, I can’t honestly say that it’s a decision that I really agree with. Of course, Hirst does a job writing the show that I can’t imagine many others could, and it’s crucial for a good story that the writer’s vision takes precedence over the actors getting what they want. That said, it’s obviously no question that I personally would have wanted more time to release what I’d built up, and for Sigurd’s coming of age-arch to be completed. When I was told what was going to happen, I actually felt I had to get involved with making suggestions to Hirst for the remaining scenes to get some sort of closure, which can be seen in Sigurd being noticeably more proactive and confrontational towards the end. The fact that so many in the community seem to have similar ideas and feelings on the subject means more than you’d really believe. Still, we should never underestimate the impact that a story can get out of an uncompleted pattern, maybe it’s better that Sigurd left us wanting more rather than outliving our interest for him. But there’s so much good writing in the community that I wouldn’t be surprised if some of it became a great screenplay of its own.
Me: Despite the huge project Vikings represented for us or the fact that many of us came to know you because of Sigurd, you worked in different projects on Swedish television, theatre, and other fields. Would you mind talking about some of these projects for us? Something you recommend for your new fans?
David: I’d love to! The part I’m proudest of is probably Simon in the TV series “Blue Eyes”. It was my first major professional role and I was overjoyed to receive such a well written, complexly human character that I felt really fit my style. The filming was also incredibly fun, I was warmly welcomed into the business and had great guidance from a number of caring directors and while I was personally going through a major heartbreak at the time, I had the opportunity to make use of those emotions and grow both artistically and personally. The series itself is a great political drama that mirrors the ideological situation that much of the world was dealing with at the time in a way that I thought was both insightful and thrilling.

Me: Now, speaking of your present life, you changed your focus from acting to your musician self, now gifting us with this amazing work that's your soon-to-come album. What is the meaning of this project to your life as an artist?
David: I’ve probably always seen myself as a musician more than anything else, and although acting has been another one of my favourite things since long before I got paid for it, my go-to source of expression has always been music. I’ve loved sharing musical ideas with my close friends and processing life through song writing, and few things have been as exciting as finding someone willing to give my stuff a listen. Landing a record deal like the one I have means the sudden realization of so much that had only been fantasy before, and it’s been surreal to see this imagined world take shape. But that’s still something I’ve had more than a year to prepare for. What I could never prepare for was the reception we’ve had so far. I know that I tend to not expect things to go very well, but even when I allowed myself to dream big, I thought that it would take Autumn a year to get where it’s now at after a month. It’s once again the feeling of being surrounded by incredible people giving incredible support, and there’s nothing quite as uplifting as the feeling of being in such good company.
Me: I'm a writer myself. And to compose my text works, I usually have some sources of inspiration like listening to some specific musicians and music styles, reading books related to the work I want to compose, etc. What are your inspiration sources when composing your songs?
David: Of course, my main source of influence is other music, and that would mostly be my favourite artists such as anything Julian Casablancas, Muse, Kent, MGMT and Lars Winnerbäck, as well as the classical music of Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninoff. I love anything with great lyrics or big melodies. I’m also lucky enough to live with one of the most creative people I know, so I always run my ideas past her when I’m stuck or unsure, but the ideas can really come from anywhere. If I come across a story, place, picture or anything that resonates with me it usually has something special when it comes to structure, dynamics or flavor that I can try to apply on what I’m working on, so I find that really just living life and being aware of the world around me gives me more than enough input without having to actively pursue it. However, if I’m working towards a deadline, I find it most effective to take an idea that I already like and either jam with it or elaborate on it until it’s become something else. In either case it’s important to remember that the majority of creative work is just finding out what doesn’t work, so no effort is ever really wasted. I sometimes task myself with writing 10 songs that I think are shit, because even if I’m right 90% of the time that will still leave me with a good one.
Me: Dayfelice. At the pre saving of your album's first single "Autumn", we saw the album was signed "by Dayfelice". I already know this is a new artistic name, but how did you come up with the idea and what’s the meaning of this name you chose, in your personal view?
David: It’s a stylized version of my first names “David Felix”. When I make music, I try to liberate it from trends or expectations when it comes to genre and sound, and to end up in a space where the song’s emotion, narrative, and imagery can really shape it without limits. So, most of the songs are very different from each other, but they center around an emotional, cinematic larger-than-life style, and I wanted to signal that with an artist name that had a romantic, elevated feel without saying too much else. Something that could be either a band or an artist of any gender, as well as something that just sounds good.
Me: I’ll never be tired to thank you for this amazing moment! Would you like to leave a message to the fan community of Tumblr and Vikings' fans that will reach this work?
David: I know it's cliché, but I genuinely just want to thank you all for your amazing support. I want you to know that I see your comments, I read your messages and it truly means a lot be surrounded by such a smart, progressive and kind community. Stay awesome and take care of each other.
Well, that's it, guys! The apex of what a fan could get and one more of the thousands of reasons why David became one of my favorite artists in this world: his sweetness and kindness towards his fans is admirable such as his talent and beautiful work. A complete artist bringing to us not only our sweet and beloved prince Sigurd but also lots of amazing works and new songs for us to enjoy!
Thank you one more time for your gentleness, dear David, and for you guys, thank you for bringing me the courage to go there and get this for us! I hope
Do you like my work? Support me!

The Outliers - A Guildwars Love Story
This story is dedicated to my wife.
Chapter 1
So many of my comrades had perished at the paws of those savage beasts! He had mused to himself. "Father, I'm here. Are you okay?" The old man looked at his son with a somewhat surprised look then handed him the lantern. "I'm fine. It's nothin'. Just help me get these fence posts back in their notches so we can tie 'em off." Kaleb swung the lantern around searching for one of the fallen fence railings. Once he had located the post both he and his father worked in unison to get them reset. "Have you checked to see if Gerty decided to make a bolt for it?" Kaleb asked. His father laughed. "That ole' girl wouldn't move if she were being attacked by an army of ettins. She's right where she's always been... face firmly planted in the feeding trough." In spite of the misery of the cold rain, both father and son managed to mend the damaged fence well before sunrise. After their tasked had been completed, they promptly headed towards the back kitchen door. "Not one step further you two." Shirley Grimwald, or "Mamma" Shirley as her husband liked to call her, raised her hand in a gesture for both men to stop. She pointed towards the floor as a signal to remind them to take off their wet boots and parkas before entering the house. "Yes ma'am. I guess the rain chased me in and I lost my head for a bit," the elder Grimwald chuckled. "It's okay, dear. The next time, I'll chase you out sans overcoat and muddy boots." She smiled in return.
"Once the two of you are dried - I left some fresh towels at the edge of the table right next to the door - you can have some hot coffee and cakes." Mamma Grimwald was slight in build but strong in her faith. As a devoted follower of the Six, she piously offered prayers whenever a situation demanded them. With the serving of food came the traditional supplication to their god, Dwayna, for blessings upon their family. Kaleb tried his best to dry out the locks of his dark shoulder-length hair. But even with his judicious efforts, his head still looked like a frazzled soppy wet mess. The chair he sat on felt small and rickety under the weight of his broad, six-foot, four-inch frame. Being mindful of the damp towel, he discreetly folded it into a compact square then placed it upon his lap.
"Thank you, boys, for fixing that fence. It seems every time there's a puff of wind, that thing keeps getting blown down," Shirley said as she poured both men some coffee. "Are the girls still asleep? That thunder makes enough racket to wake the dead." Kaleb looked at his father and said with a laugh. "C'mon, father. Katie can sleep through a volcano eruption. And Rachel is probably hiding under the pillow crying like a newborn with her butt stuck in the air." "Liar!" Came a shout from the other side of the door adjoining the kitchen and hallway. Rachel leaned out from the door frame just enough so her green eyes and auburn hair was visible.
"And miss snoop gets foiled again. Yer way too predictable, sis. Now go to bed!" "Why should I? I can't even sleep and Katie snores like a cave troll." "If the big bad thunderstorm is too much for you, then you can always sleep in my closet." "Oh, just shut up Kal! I hope you catch pneumonia and die so then I can have the best room in the house." "Rachel Grimwald! I will hear no further talk like that from you young lady. Since you can't seem sleep during foul weather or be nice to anyone... I guess you'll just have to sleep in our room... on the floor!" Rachel said nothing as Kaleb gave her a wide-eared grin. "Fine! I'm going back to bed... in my room!" Rachel said as she stomped off making every attempt to make her footsteps as loud as possible. Kaleb then turned to his parents and commented. "Yanno. I would sure feel sorry for the unlucky soul who has dubious honor of wanting to marry her."
"She's just going through that phase, son. Girls eventually get over it and blossom into beautiful women," Daniel said while taking an extra sip of his coffee. "Speaking of marriage. How are things going between you and Trish? You haven't talked about her much for awhile." Mrs. Grimwald asked her son. Kaleb averted his gaze for a moment before responding. "She's been really busy trying to earn some brownie points with the nobles and such. We really don't get to see each other that much anymore." "She would make a fine wife for you, son. I know her family is well connected. Shoot, if you ever had to serve on a battlefront, I'm sure her folks would find a way of having you stationed in a place that far from any fighting," his mother said with a smile. "Shirley. That's not how the Seraph operates. Only the spoiled rich brats get to serve far from the front lines. Us common folks, on the other hand, aren't as lucky." The elder Grimwald then looked at his son and asked, "speaking of the Seraph, when are you supposed to report for duty?" "I'm to report in within three days. According to my commanding officer, I am to be stationed not too far from Claypool." Father Grimwald poured himself another cup of coffee then began arranging the pieces of silverware in a triangle pattern.
"So, after your stint in the army, what are your plans then?" Kaleb knew where the conversation was going. "Honestly, I'm not really sure. Maybe I'll go to Divinity's Reach and join the carnival. I heard they are always having openings. I think part of that comes from the fact that some of the performers wind up getting eaten by the ferocious animals they train." "You're like the pot that keeps callin' the kettle black, son. You are much worse than your sister as far as that smart mouth of yers goes and if I were a woman I would have smacked ya upside the head, silly," Daniel said tersely. "Then I guess I'm lucky in that there's no woman who's got a witty mouth quite like mine. Not that I'm thinking too highly of myself or anything, mind you... just stating the obvious, that's all."
His father stood up from the kitchen table then spoke to Kaleb in a passive-aggressive tone. "Well, sooner or later you will have to face the facts. As the elder son of this family, the burden will fall to you when the time comes to take over the business. If I had my way, I would rather you remain here than be sent off to fight in some godsforsaken far off piece of Tyria." "Hey. I'm not keen on dying either, father. But since the treaty, Kryta is no longer under threat and even your outfit, the Ebonguard, has had to pull back from charr-held lands. And who knows? If I'm lucky, I may even get into the hobby of mounting centaur heads in my trophy room," Kaleb said with a half-smile. His mother also rose up from the table to give her son a hug. "Well, I for one am proud that you are serving in the queen's army. Your father had a distinguished career as a soldier and I have no doubt that you will as well. Of course I'll be worried sick about you, but at least you are making yourself part of a noble cause." "Ha! Mamma, there's one skill you've taught me that I can utilize while being a soldier - and that is being an excellent cook. After all, an army moves on its stomach and whenever I'm around I'll make sure my comrades enjoy feasts that are worthy of norn legends." Daniel shook his head. "War is nothing to get excited over. Anyway, do you honestly believe this treaty will even hold? The ink is not even dry yet and our people are already fighting along side those brutes." "It doesn't matter. Besides, the chances of me encountering a charr are about as likely as someone being killed by a ghost," Kaleb quipped as he helped his parents clean off the table. "Speaking of non-human peoples... I still gotta say my farewells to Ulfgar. That old norn would never let me hear the end of it if I just up and left without saying goodbye." "Dodging the question again, son? No matter. Sooner or later you will have to come to a decision on whether or not you want to take over the family business. I'm getting too old to be lifting things I shouldn't be lifting and managing things I should no longer be managing; at some point that responsibility will have to fall upon someone else. Namely, my son." His father angled his reply just as he started heading towards the hallway.
"Love ya, father. Try not to let the coffee keep you and ma up too long."
Shirley gave her son another hug before heading out of the kitchen and to her bedroom. As she passed her husband, his father turned back towards Kaleb and commented. "No worries, son. Coffee is more like a sedative to me anymore."
"Oh. And one other thing..." Kaleb looked up waiting for his father to finish his response. "I have seen people killed by ghosts back when I fought in Ascalon."

Blood Moon Rising
Title: The Morning After
Summary: Not a man, nor a beast but something more. When Rowan awakens to find himself thrust into a world hidden from him for years. Finding himself a part of a pack, and to uncover the mystery of his heritage and the two people that seemingly know him better then he knows himself. A prophecy on the verge of fullfilment; will Rowan be able to face this new life and the people in it? Or will his destiny be to much for him to bear?
A/N:I’m not sure what this is or how long it will be but I figured I’d go with it until the plot bunnies leave me alone. Also, I love werewolves or anything supernatural lol. So there will be elements of other supernatural beings in this as I continue but the focus will be the Blood Moon pack (aka Catalyst kids)
As they continued to walk, in silence. Rowan wasn’t sure what he should say or what to ask. His mind going a mile a minute, filled with questions. So rather than voicing his concerns he chose to take in the world. A world, that looked new to his eyes. He had always had 20/20 vision but this was so much more. Colors were bright and crisp. So much so, he could make out the details of the leaves several feet above him. If he focused, Rowan could see rabbits scurry into the underbrush a hundred feet ahead of them. His sense of smell heightened as well. The scent of dew clung to the air. Mixed with the musty odor of damp dirt underfoot. A hint of smoke too; even though there was no fire in sight. Rowan felt stronger, even as they walked at a moderate pace. He knew with a certainty that if he wanted to take off running he could. Muscles prime and ready to send him bounding forward with ease; sprinting for miles on end.
Instinct, it was all on instinct that Rowan comprehended this. That he understood he was more than a man and yet not quite a beast. Not in this form. Dark eyes peeked over at Leo; who was a few inches shorter than himself. But the power, and authority that rolled off him in waves was palpable.
Alpha. The word sounded in the back of his head and a part of him. The part of him that was now tucked away, his wolf knew this. If Leo gave him a command he would do it. Without thought or hesitation. Rowan would listen and obey because regardless of physical stature or prowess. Leo was in charged, Leo was in control. Leaving Rowan unable to do anything except.
Submit.
A frown marred his features. Fingers grazed the side of his neck. An image flashed in front of him. The large brown wolf, bigger than all the others. He had been running next to him, trying to pass him. His wolf wanting to test the limits of this new life it had found, to run and run and never stop.
No, stay with us.
The the command wasn’t given in words but still, his brain could only understand it from that point of view. Yet, his wolf ignored it, only to garner sharp teeth sinking into his neck.
“You bit me.”
It wasn’t a question or even an accusation – though it should have been.
Leo gave a curt nod, “You didn’t listen. It could have been worse.”
“ Worse then you trying to snap my neck with your teeth?”
“ Please, it was a nip at best. Besides, greater wolves have died for a slight like disobeying an alpha. I could have killed you for lashing out at me.” he said
Rowan scoffed then an incredulous look in his eyes. The 'lashing out' as he called it was a knee jerk reaction. Vaguely remembering how his wolf clawed at the other. Swiping at the black wolfs chest. Only to feel the other’s jaw clench down harder. Or, at least that’s what he thought. The previous night was still missing gaps, but his wolf was telling him so.
“ You didn’t say anything.”
“The pack doesn’t communicate with words Rowan,” he explained. Though, given the furrow of the other mans brow; he didn’t think he should have to.
“ I gave you a command, you ignored it. Which I understood, it was your first night. The first time with your wolf, I remember my first shift. It's an exciting time.” he mused. A whistful expression on Leo’s face.
“ Your wolf wants to explore and do and see all it can. To test his limits, but you’re basically a pup. Running off on your own before you’ve had time to get to know him is dangerous. The pack doesn't work if the wolves don't listen to their Alpha but as I said, I understand this is all new for you.”
That was an understatement.
There was so much to learn, one minute he was normal and now... now he was a beast. Part of Rowan knew, that the communication was more internal. Given through grunts and growls. Rowan's human mind putting the what he remembered of it, into words. It was a mind fuck, but he also knew Leo was right He’d understood the command.
“How do you know, that I ignored it?”
“I’m the alpha, it’s a thing. Be happy that I haven’t forced you to submit to me, yet.”
Well, that didn’t sound fucking ominous at all.
Rowan didn’t say anything else after this; not because he didn’t want too but because they were no longer alone. He could hear the voices growing louder the closer they got to his “welcome party”. Deciding that he would leave his questions for his alpha for another time. Rowan watched a young man bounded towards them, a goofy-ass grin on his face as his eyes darted between the pair of them.
“About damn time, Lu thought you two got lost but I told her there was no way.” He grinned extending his hand toward Rowan as he smiled. “Damn, your huge. Names Ben, but everyone calls me Radish. Welcome to the pack ”
Rowan raised a brow taking Ben’s hand, giving it a firm squeeze. “Why Radish?”
Ben gave a shrug of his shoulders, “Beats the shit out of me, but the name stuck plus it sounds cool.”
Leo chuckled, “Would you get out of here. Go tell Jude I’ll be along in a bit.”
Radish gave them both a salute before bounding back up and over the small hill. Once they reached the top Rowan’s eyes widen as he took in the crowd. There had to be about thirty-some-odd people spread out. The smell of smoke from earlier; was the different campfires in the small encampment. People were laughing and drinking the carrying on like it was some kind of party. Wasn’t it still pretty early in the morning?
“Come on, might as well meet the rest of the pack.”
A part of Rowan wanted to protest. Instead, he followed after the man unopposed. Would it be like this all the time? He didn't like the idea and yet he did?
The party was in full swing, the crowd parting as they made there way. Rowan greeted by smiling faces of his fellow pack members. A few shaking his hand, while others seemed almost intimidated. Giving short nods in his general direction be for flittering off. something he could only assume due to the fact that he was walking alongside Leo.
A group of women passed him, giggling and whispering to each other. Soft fingers brushed against his abdomen. A pair of grey eyes making contact with his darker irises. She gave him a wink continuing on her way with the others. His eyes followed after her.
"Okay," he began finally looking towards Leo once the woman disappeared into the sea of bodies. " -I'm thinking this might not be so bad." he grinned. Leo for his part chuckled clapping Rowan on the back.
"Leo,"
The voice caught his attention, as he watched her approach. Long, dark, cascading curls bounced behind her as she ran. The billowing skirt she wore dancing with the breeze. Rowan found his breath catching in the back of his throat as he watched her. The scent of sunshine and jasmine clung to her body. She was quite breathtaking, Rowan wanted to know her. To know all he could, it was a short-lived idea though. Watching as Leo scooped her up into his arms; giving her a passionate kiss. Rowan looked away from the couples happy reunion. Refusing to delve deeper into the fact, he didn't know if he was jealous because Leo was kissing the beauty. Or because the beauty was kissing Leo.
When they finally pulled away, Rowan was a little startled as their eyes met. Another group of images appeared, during the phase. The light brown she-wolf who had stayed close to him. Reassuring him. Letting his wolf know it was okay that he was okay.
" I remember you," he murmured surprised and yet not. Her eyes, it was a dead give away.
The woman's bell-like laugh echoed in his brain. Committing the sound to memory because he didn't want to forget it, ever. Excitedly, she took his hand, her touch lingering for a long while. Rowan's eyes shifting towards Leo but he was looking down at... his mate? The pair exchanging a look, as if communicating something. As quick as it happened though, they were both looking at him once more. Which, he liked a lot.
" And I you, Jude Sari. Welcome home Rowan." she beamed
Rowan smiled in returned, thought it faltered a little as she let go of his hand. Now, wrapping both of her arms around Leo's waist.
Yeah, he needed a drink.
"Guess, I'll go mingle like boss man said." unable to take the awkward - whatever it this was between the three of them in that moment. He could feel his wolf stirring inside him; it was unnerving. So with a tight smile, he turned in search of a drink... or two.
"Have fun!" Jude called after him watching Rowan walk away as a few females and males approaching him now. Her body stiffening as they watched the exchange.
" Easy love," Leo said kissing the top of her head as he watched along as well. " We still have to wait for Angelica to test him, to be sure."
Leaning into his chest she shook her head, " It's him, can't you feel it?"
He could, it was the same pull that he had meeting Jude for the first time. That tug had been instant, it was instant with Rowan. Still, he didn't want to leave anything up to chance. They would have to wait and see what Angelica said first. After that, they could go from there.
"We’ll know for sure soon enough."

How the Rockwaller Stole Christmas (2/2)
(PART VI) The bad guys all slithered and snuck with vile smiles most unpleasant
Around the entire den and living room, they took all the Possible presents
Ann's jewelry set and new brain surgeon tools, Kim's new Kimmunicator The Tweebs' drone with a flamethrower nicknamed "The Incinerator" James' rocket set, Joss's mechanical horse went amiss And his latest version of "Fortress"! She even took Larry's Bernalus Senator action doll as seen To her, it would look even better soaked in gasoline But that's not all, no.... For she had more gifts to steal, though. Bonnie wanted to inflict more damage to them. To that point, she had Junior steal Ron's PSX720 and "Zombie Mayhem"!
Once the den was taken care of, there was the next phase of the plan. The kitchen was the next victim room, if one can understand. Junior and the henchmen seemed invincible like the Terminator They then began to raid the refrigerator They took the Possible's feast This included Nana's lemon-squares and even the Roast Turkey Beast. They cleaned out the fridge quickly like The Flash They even took the last can of Slim Possible's Montana potato hash.
They took all the toys and food out the open door, not too far. To the 'borrowed' trailer hitched on Cruella's 'borrowed' car Bonnie giggled with glee "Now..." the Queen grinned, "Junior, take the tree!"
Just as Junior did so, she almost made a fatal mistake One of the members heard the sound, turned on the light, suddenly awake Bonnie gasped and quickly instructed the henchmen to hide. Leaving only Junior without a hiding place inside. She feared that this would be Kim Whom would not be afraid to use all 16 styles of Kung Fu against her and him. To her amazement, she saw that it wasn't a Possible who got out of bed. But it was a STOPPABLE instead.
(PART VII) Hana Stoppable had heard the sound and came to. She, at time, was no more than two.
She was adopted by the Stoppable parents, not a few months sooner Ron once even called her "The Intruder"
But her big brother loves her so much If one enemy harmed a hair on her, they would DEFINITELY regret that touch
Coming out of bed Hana stared at Junior and said: Santy Claus? Why are you taking our Christmas tree? Why?
Junior, learning from his lessons with Shego Knew a perfect lie It was to boost his ego And to keep their plan alive
"Why, my sweet dear..." the fake Santa fibbed "There's a burnt-out light on the tree..if you can see.. Bonnie smiled, for she taught him to ad-lib For it is so Junior gave out a big Ho-Ho-Ho "I'm taking it back to my workshop up the North Pole My elves will work on the tree that also has a huge trunk hole."
Hana did indeed observe the hole in the trunk He instructed one of his 'elves' to put the tree in a very large sack. "Don't worry, I'll bring the tree right back."
The fib easily fooled the child And Junior patted her head. He gave her a warm glass of milk And sent her to bed.
Once Hana left the living room space The henchmen, and Bonnie, came out of their hiding place She exclaimed "That was extremely close. Now let's finish up the job, you dog
Take the last thing in their house! The yule log!"
Junior took the Possible's log for their fire. The HenchCo henchmen left nothing but hooks and bare wire.
(PART VIII) It was now quarter to 6. Bonnie and Junior were doing their final tricks. They had stuffed every last bag and tied it with ties. Bonnie gasped, looking at the sunrise. "Junior, start the car! "We have to make sure the Possible's Christmas will not go far!
And to his intuition Junior went into the car, followed by Bonnie, and started the ignition The DeVille vehicle sped off from sight From the theft of the Possible house that occurred during the night. The henchmen's HenchCo automobiles followed as well To make sure that everything Possible-related burns in the flames of Hell
About 4,000 feet up outside the city limits of Middleton The car came to a stop at such precision. Bonnie asked "Junior, do you have the two tanks of gasoline?" Junior took out the tanks from the trunk, so that they could be seen "They are right here, my love, for it will be brighter Once we set the gifts and food on fire." The henchmen also got out of the cars too To unload the trailer filled with the gifts and food They moved the trailer from the DeVil car 1500 feet away So that no fatalities or injuries would result that day.
"Wait..." Bonnie paused, stopped and stared, "The Britinia CD! That is the only gift to be spared If the disc doesn't skip or hinder."
"But the rest of it? Burn it to a single cinder!"
One of the henchmen gave her the gift she wanted the most. They have now received their instructions to reduce everything to toast.
"Before you can do that, I must hear... ...The sound that the Possibles most fear" Bonnie insisted with, again, her sexy grin "I want to relish my victory, my triumph, my win!"
She was constantly humming
"As we speak, the Possibles are finding out now Including Kim, the big, fat redheaded pig-cow Their Christmas is not coming. That will definitely make up for me being sad For all the crappy Christmases I had!"
Junior added, "They're waking up, and their mouth with drop for a minute or two. Then the Possibles in the Possible will cry boo-hoo!"
(PART IX)
"This is a glorious noise...." grinned Bonnie, "....that we simply must hear. Both Bonnie and Junior paused and put a hand to her pierced ear.
The evil couple did hear a sound rising over that heavy snow. It indeed started low, then....it started to grow!
To the Evil Couple's shock, the sound from the Possibles wasn't sad. This sound was more in the area of....glad!
Every Possible down in the Possible-house The tall and the small Was singing their carols without any presents at all.
The Queen hadn't stopped the Possible Christmas from arriving, it came. Somehow, in the mystery of life, it came all the same. And the Queen and Junior, with her boots cold stuck in the snow, stood puzzling Puzzling and wondering and mustering How could it be so?
It came without her mother's jewelry case! It came without the wannabe's Kimmunicator! It came wihout her dad's rocket set! It came without the Tweeb's Drone Incinerator!
Junior suddenly thought of something his tiny mind hadn't before. "Maybe the Possible Christmas....means a little bit....more!"
Bonnie gasped. She hadn't thought of this. Of Junior having a change of heart on her evil list. "Junior, what the Hell have you been smoking?"
"You really must be truly joking!" But Junior gave Bonnie a treasonous reply. With a bit of a small sigh
"No, my beautiful brunette! It's the Possible family coming together that is the primary reason To celebrate their Christmas season." Bonnie growled. She didn't know what to do at this junction. Her family, with all of its gossip and intrigue, erred on the side off dysfunction. What happened then?
Through the TRUE meaning of Christmas, Junior's heart grew three sizes that day. In a sort of a miraculous way. But then, from the city, came a loud holler The Queen gasped in horror after recognizing that voice: BONNIE MARIE ROCKWALLER!!
This left her no choice.
(PART X) Bonnie sneered, thinking for herself, "If you don't have the gumption To do a lot of destruction. Then I will do the evil deed myself."
She swiped the gas cans away from Junior's hands And was about to accomplish her own dastardly evil plans. Bonnie gave an evil cackle What she didn't expect was a hard-charging tackle From the 'redheaded pig-cow' she had called Kim moments ago The gasoline went onto the DeVille car to and fro. "Now, Tweebs!" the world-saver yelled, tackling her rival in the attack Both Jim and Tim freed the drone from its prison sack. With the flamethrower as its primary weapon, it's target in sight. It breathed fire on the gas-covered DeVille car, ready to ignite. The DeVille Car blew up in a blaze of glory Of twisted Detroit (actually UK) metal and steel (and thankfully, things that are not gory) The HenchCo henchmen, seeing this destruction Tried to get out of here, wishing they had jobs in construction. But almost all of their vans stalled out and didn't move, to their dismay. Ron and Rufus has loosened their air from their tires, and Rufus said OK!
"Bonnie....you should know better than that in this sitch!"
"Of all the evil things you have done, this is the most wrongsick of all, you evil witch!" Growled Kim, wresting with the brunette. "K, it's no fair of what you and your fam are doing.
Living next door to me, and enjoying Christmas while I stare out of the window, losing!" Kim then replied, "Then why don't you move out?
Before I force you on me my puppy-dog pout!" And she did make the PDP
Bonnie covered her eyes, not wanting to see.
Not literally, Kim gave Bonnie a black eye. Thankfully, Hana told Ron about Junior's flat-faced lie. As if the Christmas Day started off worse on Bonnie, for sure She then tripped and fell into a pigsty filled with manure.
What Bonnie didn't know was that Junior, finding the meaning of Christmas came through. He now has the strength of 50 henchmen, plus two. With his heart hadn't felt quite so tight. Junior, Ron, and Rufus. up the only active HenchCo van in the morning light. The one minivan whose tires were not slashed Bonnie screamed as Kim cuffed her rival behind her back, the former's reputation now gashed.
Junior descended down toward Middleton eating crumpets And Ron blew out a charging tune on the top of the van from his ramhorn trumpet.
Everyone went back into Middleton And went back to the Possible abode and released the toys. To Joss, Cousin Larry, and the Twin Possible Boys Junior brought back Ann's jewelry box and Kim's new model Kimmunicator. The drone carried its toys to the den with its' now-closed incinerator. Larry was especially delighted a lot When he received his versions of Fortress and Everlot He even jumped through the hall on a football That Junior gave him back both his Bernalus Senator action doll
Everyone, except for Bonnie, brought everything back, including the food and feast. And to the youngest Rockwaller's shock and disgrace Adding a banana-cream pie to her face. Junior even....carved the Christmas Turkey Beast.
Though Kim interrupted the festivities and said, "You know, Junior, both you and Bonnie will be serving time in prison instead."
"The police are going to arrest you for the robbery that you two performed last night And of course, they are going to read you the Miranda Right You still did the crime You still are going to have to do the time. As for Bon-Bon, the School Board will decide your fate, you stupid clod And also for your position on the MHS Cheer Squad.
So, Bonnie and Junior were led away in the wagon, facing their stupid decision Of doing this crime that would definitely lead them to prison "Now..." the driver said in a familiar voice. "...you two have done well as so You especially, Miss Rockwaller, have obeyed "The Villain Code" Both Junior and Bonnie smiled with delight, for they recognized his evil demeanor The driver took off his mask, revealing to be Senor Senior Senior
For Bonnie's relationship with Junior, everything was forgiven. When Junior gave her a wad of $500,000 rolled up in fresh crisp Benjamins "You have chosen your mate wisely, young lady, Except for the fact that my son suffered a good gaffe But no matter, when the weather is sunny or shady We shall all practice our evil laughs!"
And they all laughed in the wagon for sport While Senior took them on helicopter to the island from the airport.

Her Royal Highness - Chapter 5
True to Adam's word, Mal's door handle was fixed bright and early the next morning. After dinner and before bed, Sophia had helped Mal personalize her phone more, going as far as to add a few game apps and a drawing system. She also showed Mal how to access the music that the castle had purchased, which Mal didn't like much. It made for good background music, but she could only listen to 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'A Whole New World' so many times. She missed her old Isle music, a few tracks of which she and her friends had recorded. Ben would probably have a heart attack if he heard her singing about how 'Rotten to the Core' she was though.
She asked Sophia for a map of the Castle. Sophia texted her a picture and explained that they further she got from the main halls, the more finicky the magic of the castle became. Walls were sometimes not where they were supposed to be and doors only unlocked half of themselves, the like. However, Mal was confident she could navigate the palace by herself. To prove it to herself, she figured out how to find the time the sun would rise with her phone and set an alarm for thirty minutes before.
When she got up, the world was still dark. The hallways were musty. Kind Sophia had asked one of the palace servants to leave the castle and get some clothes for her. She now wore an elbow-length purple tee with several thin, decorative belts crossing her middle and black high-waisted jeans that were easy to move around in. There were about four other casual outfits in her closet now. Sophia was trying to find some dressier gowns for Mal to wear to accompany Ben places though Mal doubted she'd wear them.
Mal used the phone to skillfully navigate the passages of the castle. She found her way past the library, and then to the main hall. An older man with a mop looked startled to see her. She gave him a sarcastic salute when he said good morning, and they ignored each other as she walked outside.
The sky was beginning to grey with streaks of pink edging their way onto the horizon. Dew stuck to the grass. She couldn't see very far, but she did notice the edge of the castle exterior wall was very jagged and the paint was peeling off the edges of the bricks. Perfect for climbing. She made her way through a flower bed and put a foot on the brick. She'd be climbing on her toes all the way up, but hopefully, it would be worth it. Also, hopefully, Belle and Adam wouldn't kick her out for parkouring their home.
She began to climb. About halfway up, she realized that the world had gotten exponentially brighter, and quickened her pace. Near the top, her foot slipped off for a nanosecond, but she used her arms to haul her body to the rest of the top.
Once on the roof, it was easy to walk around and find a nice place to watch the sun rise over the hills. She ended up picking a place where the front circle drive was still visible, and where she was centered above the porch as the sun came up.
The sky turned from dull blue-grey to a stunning purple, and then to fuschia. Mal sat with her knees tucked up under her arms. She shivered some, but she'd been exposed to far harsher circumstances on the Isle.
The sky slipped out of a short yellow phase and began to turn its normal brilliant blue. Mal began to consider climbing down, but then she saw movement at the end of the driveway. As it got closer, she squinted to make out its shape. It was a carriage. One that was obviously for royalty. All thoughts of leaving left her mind as she watched the carriage come closer to the Castle.
Who would be calling on the Royals this early in the morning? Was it the Fairy Godmother?
The carriage stopped in the middle of the circular drive and a footman hopped out to let a figure out of the car. The palace roof was so high up that Mal couldn't make out the figure at all.
The person walked up the steps and Mal observed they were wearing heels from their shadow. A girl, probably. Maybe a guy. She'd known guys on the Isle to enjoy wearing heels.
The person disappeared from her view as they walked up to the palace doors. Mal bit her cheek without knowing why.
The world got drastically warmer as soon as the sun was up. Mal looked at all the pale skin that was exposed on her and knew she'd burn to a crisp if she didn't leave soon. Her phone made a movement in her pocket – a buzzing – and she pulled it out to examine it with a critical eye. As per usual, the screen lit up at the movement. A message underneath Sophia's name was asking where she was. She noticed the time was almost 7:30. Oops.
She swiped in her password to message Sophia, but then a message from Ben came through. "Are you on the roof?" He asked.
"How'd you know?" She asked him.
"Holy crap, how did you get up there?"
"I climbed."
"Oh my gosh."
She rolled her eyes and put her phone back in her pocket, completely forgetting to text Sophia. Her phone buzzed during her descent, but she couldn't exactly see what anyone was saying to her while she was trying to not fall to her death, could she?
Her phone responded to her inactivity by vibrating so much it fell out of her pocket when she was about ten feet above the ground. Mal cursed, having come to like the screen with the map inside of it, and jumped the last few feet to make it to the ground quicker. Her phone was fine if a little dirty. Several texts were there, but they looked different. There was more than one person texting her at a time. The message notification said they were sending things to a group.
Ben: "Found Mal. She didn't leave; she's just on the roof"
Belle: "The roof?"
Adam: "Are you yanking my chain?"
Ben: "She said she climbed."
Mal bit her lip and let her thumbs hover over the screen before she typed out: "I'm down now." Hopefully, the Royals weren't angry. She probably should have left a note.
The carriage was waiting out front. She couldn't see any people from here, so she just assumed that they'd seen her and went on with her life. She let herself back into the palace through the front doors and walked right into a war zone.
Ben was in the room having a very… heated debate with an older girl in pink, who wore sequined sunglasses and a pink pantsuit. Her brown hair was up in a ponytail, and her face was currently twisted into a frown. She looked almost twenty, the same age as Ben.
"I don't understand!" She wailed. "Don't you love me anymore?" She leaned forward and grabbed the folds of Ben's suit. Mal raised her eyebrows and started to try and slip away through a side door. She almost felt bad for Ben having to deal with her.
"It's not about that, Audrey. I'm engaged now. I have to think about my future, and right now, that's her-" Ben droned on for a few seconds about things that weren't really important while Mal made no effort to stop eavesdropping. She began to creep towards an adjoining door on the right side of the entryway. When she reached the door, she turned around. Mal made eye contact with Ben, gave him a weak smile, and made a slashing motion at her throat. He narrowed his eyes as she opened the door quietly and started to leave.
"In fact, there's my fiancé right now! Mal!" He called. Mal froze with the door half open and one foot hidden behind it. She turned around. Audrey, the prince's former girlfriend, if she was to interpret the situation correctly, had frozen in place with her hands firmly on Ben's lapel and her head focused on Mal. There was no way she could escape now. Mal sighed and let the door swing closed.
"Good morning Mal," Ben greeted with a winning smile. And not 'winning' as in 'he could win a prize with that smile'. Winning in that he was completely aware he'd just foiled her plan for escape. "Mal, this is Audrey. Audrey, this is Mal. Did you have a nice climb Mal?" The way he spoke made it sound as if her sunrise excursion had been completely done with the knowledge and approval of the palace.
"I did," Mal admitted. She glared at the king sassily. "The sunrise was lovely."
"Mal," Audrey drawled distastefully. "You have dirt on your shirt." Mal looked down and discovered a smudge of black over her left shoulder. She shrugged.
"It must be from the gutter. I shouldered it on my way up." Mal said, not bothering to brush at it at all. Ben winced at her words and drew a hand over his face. He was embarrassed by that? Oh boy, was Mal going to make him regret not letting her leave... She turned and focused on Audrey with a fake smile.
"Do you think it's fitting for the future queen of Auradon to be scaling the castle walls?" Audrey asked. She flipped her sunglasses up to reveal narrowed eyes and Mal felt a challenge she was not going to back down from.
"Better than being stuck inside all day." She met Ben's eyes after that comment. He squirmed in his shoes. "Stuff like that helps me stay fit."
"I don't believe I've seen you before." Audrey glared. "Who are your parents? Where do you come from?"
Ben tensed. Mal opened her mouth to answer Audrey, but Ben jumped in.
"Audrey is, uh, the daughter of Aurora. You know, Sleeping Beauty." Ben coughed and wrung his hands.
As if the situation couldn't get any worse. Mal turned to Ben and gave him her best you-have-got-to-be-kidding-me look. "Aurora?" She repeated.
"Yeah!" Audrey jumped in enthusiastically. "My mom is one of the most famous royals in the land. She's my hero." The brunette clasped a hand to her heart as if she were a proud parent watching a toddler wobble on their feet for the first time.
Mal stared. "But she didn't do anything. Your dad is the one who broke the curse."
Audrey looked miffed. "Yes, but she is one of the kindest, most beautiful souls around. I aspire to be just like her."
Ben leaned his head back just a tad, like he wanted to groan but was resisting. Mal pasted on a fake smile and stuck out her hand. "Well, Audrey, I'm Mal." Audrey shook Mal's hand at a weird angle and with a suspicious glance towards Ben. "My mother's also quite famous." Mal continued. She released Audrey's hand and Audrey withdrew it to rest it on her hip. "Actually, you might have heard of her. She's known by many names, but she was named Maleficent at birth."
Audrey turned a peculiar shade of yellow.
"You know," Mal continued. "The Mistress of all Evil?"
Audrey took a step back. "What are you doing here?"
Ben took Mal's arm and wrapped it around his elbow. Mal gave him a look and almost withdrew, but then she saw how it made Audrey retreat further. She tried to relax as Ben used his other hand to start rubbing little circles into the area underneath her bicep. "The crown thought it would be an excellent match to help to repair relationships with the second generation over there," Ben said with confidence. "She's already taken and passed all of the required tests, including the goodness test." Those last words he put particular emphasis on, though Mal felt another surge of anger towards him.
"You-you're serious?" Audrey stammered. "How long has this been a plan?"
Mal opened her mouth to say: "a few days", but Ben jumped in and quickly said: "Almost two months. I was informed just after you left last time and have been waiting to tell you." Mal glanced sideways at him. Liar. Huh, she hadn't thought he'd had the guts. The tension in the arm Ben had wrapped around his started to ebb away.
It must have been a while since the prince had last talked to his girlfriend. She bought the lie entirely. Ben unlooped his arm from Mal's and went to go put a hand on Audrey's shoulder gingerly. He held her at arms' length even though she was trying to lean into him. "Now Audrey," Ben began. "I know this must be hard for you, but I must have your word that you won't take this joyous news any farther than your parents. It's for Mal's privacy protection while we train her to be the new queen. This is still under intense secrecy, but I thought you deserved to know since, of course, this means our relationship has to end. We can still be friends though."
Mal watched how Audrey's eyes flickered between them, and swallowed as she stepped forward and put a hand on Ben's shoulder. Audrey visibly took a step back and Mal realized that the battle was won. The pink princess looked absolutely stunned. She nodded though. "Yes, friends." She tried to pull out from under Ben's hand and reached for the doorknob, but Ben held onto her shoulder.
"Your word, Audrey?" He prompted.
Audrey's eyes hit the floor, and she grimaced like she was in pain. "You have my word, Ben."
Ben released her with a smile. Mal came up behind him and wrapped her arm back through his elbow. Audrey immediately opened the door and stepped outside. They barely had time to exchange goodbyes before Audrey was gone. Mal released herself from Ben and stood outside the window as she watched Audrey's carriage pull away.
"Interesting girl," Mal commented.
Ben breathed a sigh of relief. "Yeah. I'm glad we're over."
Mal looked over her shoulder at him as he came to watch the dust settle. "I'm still angry at you." She told him. "You ruined a perfectly good escape plan."
"Why should you get to escape, and I have to face her? Besides, she backed down the moment she saw you. I think your appearance scared her." Ben raised his eyebrow comedically.
Mal sighed. "Is that supposed to be a nice way of saying I look like crap?"
Ben laughed. "You've got something right…" He reached for her face. Mal snapped out of his reach by reflex, then leaned forward and allowed him to rub at something under her left eye. His eyes didn't linger any longer than needed to rub at something thick, dark brown, and sticky on her cheek.
"Great." She murmured. "I met the daughter of my mother's enemy with black on my face."
"It wasn't too bad, and you did great." He pulled his hand away, and they waited in that close space, thinking that the other was going to say something. Mal leaned against the wall, but the distance didn't change. Ben leaned with her.
"You still owe me one." Mal murmured.
"Can we call it even? You kind of scared me out of my mind when I woke up and learned you were gone. I thought you'd left and I wouldn't be able to be king and in a few years I'd begin to suffer intense pains and yeah, I was panicking." Ben moved his hands as he talked. He made figures in the air and gestured wildly.
"I'm glad to see I was missed," Mal commented dryly. "Yeah, we can call it even." She hesitated. "Is your dad going to kill me for being on the roof?"
Ben shook his head. "No. They'll be worried of course. We don't want you to get hurt. I'd be more worried about Sophia if I were you. She was the one who discovered your room empty and she flipped out."
"Poor Sophia." Mal frowned. "She's super nice. I like her."
"I have a feeling she's going to start working just for you. Sort of like how Lumiere always talks to and listens to my mom. He's her servant." Ben chuckled.
"Do you have a favorite?" Mal asked. Ben shook his head.
"I loved talking to Chip, but he left a few years ago. He races horses in Cinderellasburg now. He never liked the castle much."
"I see he and I have much in common," Mal commented.
"Well, he was one of the prisoners here. He was eight and frozen in time along with the rest of the palace." Ben paused. "Do you not like the palace?"
Mal furrowed her brow and stepped away from Ben. She gestured around the magnificent room. "I can't explain it. It has a feeling that makes me feel unwelcome. I think it's the fact it was cursed so many years ago. I can just feel that magic and it makes me feel like I should leave." She turned back to Ben. "I think that feeling will fade and it's just initial contact sickness, but the entire castle seems to be pushing me away from itself."
Ben was studying her. He seemed to be lost in thought. "Do you have any magical potential?" He asked cautiously.
Mal wondered for a second if she should tell him, but the Fairy Godmother hadn't appeared upset or even surprised. She swallowed. "Yes, I do." She informed Ben. "Is that a problem?"
Ben held his hands up in immediate defense. "No, not at all! However, fun fact, that means you're technically the first top royal with magical potential in this new era of Auradon. How cool is that?"
Mal relaxed. "Um, cool I guess." She eyed the curve of Ben's neck. "I assumed you'd be worried."
He shrugged. "I know you're a good person." He explained as he leaned against the wall.
Mal furrowed her brow and crossed her arms. "How do you know?" She asked.
He smiled at her. "I see it in you. You focus on fairness and you are aware of the people around you." His smile suddenly broadened, and Mal shrunk from it. "You're going to make an excellent queen. Really." He closed the space in between them so that he could squeeze her arm comfortingly. Then, he paused. "I mean... if you choose to stay and rule."
Mal snorted. "I think that choice has been made for me." She stuck a thumb behind her back at the door and began to chew on a lock of her hair. "Audrey knows I'm going to be queen."
Ben shook his head. "You can still choose. And I promise I won't judge you for that choice."
Mal bit her cheek. Ben's hand was still on her arm, so she reached over with her other hand and began to fiddle with his wrist cuff. A thought occurred to her.
"Ben?" She whispered. She heard him make a quiet sound in response. "What do you think I should choose?"
Ben stilled. "Are you asking advice? Or what do I want you to do?"
"Both," Mal answered.
There was a moments' pause as Ben pushed her hair out of her face, moved his hand out of her reach, and put it on her shoulder. Both he and his dad had a thing with shoulders, she was noticing.
"I want you to be happy." He admitted as he touched her collarbone with his thumb a little. Mal shrank from his touch. She observed the careful way Ben examined her and "I want happiness, and I want you to have it too. You deserve it. As far as if you should stay or go, it might be a little easier for you to help me make changes if you stay. You could be an astounding force for good if you wanted. But if you choose to go, then you could see what the people of Auradon are like. You could get to know them, understand them like you understand the Isle's people."
Mal scoffed. "Like I need to know about Auradon. Audrey was more than enough for me."
Ben laughed. His laugh made her feel better.
"I like what you said, about being a force for good. Because I know there are so many things that need to be changed for the Isle. There are so many innocent people over there who are maimed every day, and we need to fix it." Her eyes grew distant as she thought of Evie, Jay, and Carlos. Several ideas popped into her A smile grew on Ben's face.
"Will you stay?" He asked her.
"I think so." She confirmed. "Am I allowed to change my mind afterword?"
"Of course," Ben responded promptly. "Just be aware it'll be a lot harder to change your mind after we tell everyone you're going to be queen."
"I get it, I get it." Mal chuckled. Ben laughed and moved his arm to loop Mal's through it. Mal grimaced, but let him keep his hold.
"May I escort this fine lady to breakfast?" He asked.
"Fine Lady? Where?" Mal laughed. "Go ahead. I still don't know where I'm going."
Ben laughed and took her through a side door. "You know, it's funny. The Fairy Godmother used to say the same thing about the castle that you said. She said it was almost like the castle didn't want her here. It did get better as the years went on."
"The castle must still have a lot of magic residue on it." Mal reasoned. "I bet I'd feel more comfortable in my room if I charmed one or two things because then there'd be two enchantresses' work there."
"When did you learn you had magical potential?" Ben asked.
"Well, I was able to make my eyes glow on the Isle, but I didn't really understand I had spell potential until like, yesterday," Mal said, trailing her fingers on the wall behind her as she walked.
"So it's been one day, and you're already calling yourself an enchantress?" Ben joked. "Have you even cast any spells yet?"
Mal was silent. Ben began to laugh so hard he had to stop walking so he wouldn't trip.
"I fixed my hair!" Mal defended herself. When Ben continued to laugh, she scowled. "The first real spell I'm going to cast is going to be a silencing curse on you!" She threatened.
Ben finally composed himself enough to show her the rest of the way to breakfast. Belle and Adam were already there, eating oatmeal as they typed away on their cell phones. Ben pulled Mal's chair out for her and went to go sit beside his mother. The first thing Adam said to her was: "The roof?"
Mal felt her pale cheeks go a little red. "Sorry." She said.
Ben stole a few sausages from a plate in the middle of the table, and then a few strips of bacon. "She was watching the sunrise." He explained.
Belle nodded as she took a sip of orange juice. "That's a good place to do it." She reasoned. "How'd you get up?"
"I climbed the brick overlay on the side of the castle." She paused. "How did you know I was on the roof, Ben?"
Ben raised his eyebrows and sighed irritably. "The first thing out of Audrey's mouth was: 'Someone's on the roof.' Since that isn't exactly a daily occurrence, I figured I'd better make sure it wasn't you."
Belle chuckled. "Well, just make sure you're being careful as you climb. Please don't slip and hurt yourself." She looked around a basket of bread to Ben. "Pass the butter please." She asked him.
Adam gave his wife a look as if to say: 'we're really going to allow this?', but he didn't say anything else.
________________________________________________________________
A few days later, Mal was able to stop using her phone to help her find places like her room, the library, the dining room, and the front entryway. There was no set pattern to the castle beside the four main wings. After that, each corridor seemed to stretch out randomly into whatever space was available. Some rooms were cut into perfect squares, others into almost stars, and one very strange room had a small triangle notch in the wall that was open enough for someone to squeeze their shoulders into. As Sophia promised, the further Mal ventured from the main entryway, the more finicky the castle became. Eventually, for fear of getting lost, she kept close to the main part of the castle.
Climbing to see the sunrise became a thing for her. On the third day, she slipped out of the castle soundlessly and kicked dew off the grass as she walked. She went to the place she'd been climbing up the last few days and hooked her fingers around the brick overlay. She ignored the aching in her arms as she climbed and glanced to the east every so often to make sure she wasn't going too slowly. As she put a hand over the gutter and onto the roofing, a hand appeared in her face.
Mal's grip slipped. "Waah!" She screamed as she dropped a scary foot back until someone seized her hand. Ben peered over the edge of the roof, looking white.
"Sorry!" He exclaimed. "Here, let me help you up."
"You almost just killed me!" Mal sputtered, squeezing the life and breath out of his hand. He hauled her up and over the gutter and set her carefully on the roof. Then, he wiped his brow off and took a deep breath.
"You okay?" Ben whispered.
"What are you doing up here?" Mal gasped as she tried to take several deep breaths.
"Sightseeing." Ben chuckled. He wiped his hands off on his pants and sat down on the edge of the roof.
Mal stared at him incredulously. Was that sarcasm she'd just heard? "What?" She whispered. "How did you get up here?"
Ben glanced sideways at her and smirked. "I climbed." He huffed.
And just like that, a smile was spreading over her mouth and she couldn't stop it, no matter how hard she tried. Mal snorted. "Har, har." She whispered and pulled her legs up from the edge. Ben ran his hands through his hair, messing it up even more than it was, and the irregular look made her heart skip a thud or two.
Ben gestured out to the skyline. "I, uh, thought it'd be cool to join you, and I brought food." Ben pointed up the roof a bit, to where a backpack was stuffed to the brim with items. Mal exhaled and got to her feet. Her cheeks felt awfully warm.
"Food?' She asked. "Why would you climb the roof at five a.m with food?"
"Because if I climbed the roof without food at five a.m, you might've made me go back down." Ben quipped. Mal chuckled. He stood up and the two walked toward the backpack. ben bent down and began to pull items out. Blankets and food, mostly. His phone was tucked into the side of the backpack. Ben spread out a blanket on the tiling and offered her his hand. Mal ignored it and sat down underneath his arm. Ben rolled his eyes and handed her a large, fuzzy orange fruit.
"What are these?" Mal asked as she rubbed the itchy fuzz off on the sleeve of her purple shirt.
"Peaches," Ben answered, sitting down opposite her. He peeled a layer of skin off of his peach with the fuzz still attached.
Mal tossed the fruit from one hand to the other in thought. "They're warm." She murmured.
"Try it." Ben rolled his eyes.
Mal took a bite and felt her mouth flood with sweet juice from the fruit. Sticky golden nectar ran down her chin and onto her clothes. Ben laughed at her. "How do you eat these?'" She exclaimed in frustration.
"With your mouth." Ben quipped. Mal groaned. She watched as Ben split his fruit down the center. In the middle was an ugly pit, which he yanked out to reveal red surroundings. She followed his example and soon they were both sitting together, watching the sky turn pink and eating warm peaches.
"You've gotten a lot more sarcastic since I got here," Mal noted, watching a red streak grow across the sky.
"I'm usually one to make a lot of dad jokes, but you arriving threw off my game." Ben nodded.
"You'd probably like Isle humor a lot." Mal theorized. She watched out of the corner of her eye as Ben perked up a bit.
"I'll take your word for it." He said with a sideways smile, trying to sound casual. Mal turned her feet towards him and toasted her half of her peach sarcastically.
"You seem to be pretty interested in the Isle." She murmured. "Most people shy away from me when I talk about it."
"Yeah." Ben agreed sheepishly. "It's fascinating. I've always been really interested in people and, yeah, the Isle. It's interesting to me, the different cultures and rules and such." He launched the core to his peach out over the gutter and to the grounds below.
"It's a different world." Mal murmured.
"Yeah," Ben repeated. "It's almost like its own country."
Mal furrowed her brow. It was almost like the Isle was its own country. A country run by gangs who existed in a polluted state of deterioration. And with this acknowledgment came an idea. "Ben," She whispered. "Does the spell outline that I have to be the queen of Auradon? Or is it just the Isle?"
Ben thought for a moment and then shook his head. "No, you have to have to say over Auradon. Like, you have to have ruling and judging power. The ability to sign laws and acts into order is just one of the things I know Maleficent specified in her spell trauncts." He gestured to his backpack on her left side. "Can you pass me another peach?" He asked.
Mal dug in the backpack for another warm fruit, trying to hide the disappointment welling up in her. She palmed the fruit to Ben with a sigh. "I was just wondering if we could just take the Isle off of Auradon instead of..." She trailed off. They both knew where she was headed with this anyways.
"Yeah." Ben sighed. "I mean, no, we can't do that. But yeah, I get what you mean."
"Yeah," Mal echoed glumly.
"But," Ben started, then paused. "Maybe..." He trailed off.
"What?" Mal asked, making a face.
"If we break off the Isle of the Lost off of the Mainland, thereby making you a separate queen, then we could get married with you as a Consort Queen," Ben explained.
"Which means?" Mal prompted.
Ben set his peach between his feet and began to use his hands to illustrate his point. "It's a thing royal couples do when they don't want kingdom borders to change upon a union. Basically, you could technically pass laws and rule Auradon, the whole shebang, but I would have to be gone first. Until then, you're just a normal person according to Auradon. You just live in the palace and are married to the king. I think it's referred to as a junior partnership."
Mal furrowed her brow. "Wouldn't Auradon be angry?" She asked. "You lose the Isle and then all I would have to do is kill you to take over the kingdom?"
Ben shrugged. "I don't know how they'd react." He said. Then, he hesitated. "You aren't planning on killing me, are you?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.
"That'd be the evil thing to do." Mal shrugged.
Ben snorted and rolled his eyes. "No then. Consort queen also means that if I happened to die for any reason, you'd be in charge of Auradon." He explained.
"Ugh." Mal made a face. "All that work." Even though, technically, if he died, she'd die too. She paused and began to twiddle her sticky thumbs. "How long do you think this will last?" She asked, letting her voice drop back to a whisper.
"A year?" Ben theorized. "Maybe two." He studied the roof tiles and began to peel the skin off his peach.
"And after that?" Mal asked, finally looking up to meet his gaze. He felt her eyes on him and looked up. "I become the queen who didn't rule for two years and Auradon never learns what happened? They go on thinking we parted ways because our marriage failed?"
"You don't have to make it sound like such a poisonous thing." Ben sighed. He offered her the second half of his peach, but she shook her head.
"You're right." She acknowledged. "It's just... hard."
"Yeah." Ben agreed with a sigh.
The sun's rays peeked out over the horizon and the frost began to melt off of the gutters. Ben reached around Mal for another blanket and spread it out over his legs. Then, he took a second, black blanket, and set it carefully on her shoulders, even going so far as to pull her hair out from under it.
Mal fiddled with the hem of the blanket and cleared her throat. For the first time, she voiced a fear she had. "What if they never break the curse?" She asked. "We can't masquerade forever. Are you really going to make me stay here, never doing anything, pretending to be a queen? And Auradon will have expectations. You're supposed to sire an heir for the future rise and fall of the kingdom and that idea appeals about a solid negative to me." Mal tapped Ben's leg with her toes and raised her eyebrow at him.
Ben looked back out at the sunrise. "I don't know." He confessed. His tone of voice announced that he, too, had been worried about it.
Mal continued on. "And if you do make me stay, what next for the Isle?"
"The Isle?" Ben asked, glancing at Mal.
"My homeland? The Isle?" Mal rolled her eyes.
"If we break it off, that means it's its own country." Ben reasoned. "The only way you could get rid of it is to abdicate to Auradon."
"So, I'm the puppet government." Mal rolled her eyes.
"No, you're the actual government with close ties to Auradon." Ben rolled his eyes. Mal hummed suspiciously. "I think you could fix the Isle." Ben shrugged, ignoring her skepticism.
"Doubtful." Mal disagreed. The sun was almost halfway over the horizon now.
"Oh no." Ben shook his head. "Come one, two years from now, and the Isle will be completely different. Trust me."
Mal didn't say anything more. She pulled the hems of the blankets taut across her chest and watched the sky turn its bidaily daily light show as Ben ate his peach behind her. This was nice. It was nice to not yell at him. It was nice to be listened to. She'd never had someone take her ideas and make them into a plan. She'd never climbed a palace to discover a prince. Even the small things were new. She'd never even had someone lift a blanket around her shoulders.
Mal curled up her feet and laid her head on her knees. The sun rose on a new day and an upcoming queen.
________________________________________________________________
Remember Doug? Mal didn't. She'd completely forgotten about the man who'd sent her an entire paragraph in response to just her name. However, after her first week was over, the King and Queen decided it was time to invite Doug over.
Doug arrived during lunch, which Mal felt was a normal time to receive guests. Lunch was the most inconspicuous meal of the day when you had already figured out if the day was going to be a good or a bad one, and before you had any concrete plans so you could be a little more flexible. Mal appreciated lunchtimes a lot.
Doug wore a plaid shirt that was rolled up to his elbows since August in Auradon was hot enough to bake cookies outside. (This wasn't an exaggeration. Mal saw some of the servant's children baking cookies by leaving them outside in aluminum-foil-lined boxes.) He had a bow tie and glasses, and hair the color of sand. He was also a very nervous man. When he shook hands with Mal, he quivered. He stuttered and went back and forth, steamrolling his own sentences. Sometimes, Mal couldn't understand what he was saying. She just smiled and nodded. That seemed to make Doug less nervous.
Doug worked for the crown. A very small part of his job was to go to all the new royals in all the small kingdoms and teach them how to file paperwork through to Beast's Castle, how to cc emails and be the all-around IT guy. So it only made sense that he and Adam had teamed up to show Ben how to run things, and now Ben and Doug (mostly Doug) were going to team up and show her how to do things.
After lunch, Ben showed her and Doug upstairs and into the King's office. There were papers, envelopes, and little calendar magnets everywhere. Mal made a gentle humming sound as Doug groaned and pulled a fancy black hole-punch out of his bag. Except it wasn't a hole punch. As Ben showed Mal around the office and pointed to where things were supposed to go, Doug picked up whatever papers he could find and scanned them through what now appeared to be a portable, backwards printer. The pictures appeared on Adam's desktop computer as Doug scanned them. Finally, the two men ushered Mal into King Adam's incredibly tall swivel seat. Mal tried to not feel awkward as the two men hovered beside her and showed her how to get the desktop to automatically search for duplicate documents and sort them into folders based on what they were while her feet dangled at least four inches above the flooring. The computer also had this handy thing that made it so everything could be sorted by dates so that everything Doug had just barely scanned in would appear at the top of the relevant folder after it had been sorted.
"Why do we still use paper?" Mal asked.
"Because when a king signs something it's considered a magical lock. We haven't figured out how to replicate that effect on computers yet." Doug sighed. That was the other, bigger part of his job. Working with computers to make them do better stuff.
"When you become King, or Queen, for you, you receive the throne magic, which basically helps you know if there's major trouble in the kingdom, or if a border is breached, stuff like that. When you're making or changing laws, you need to have a connection to that magic, otherwise, it won't work." Ben added. It made sense he'd care more about that information than Doug. Wasn't that the main reason she was there? There wasn't any way the magic of the crown would stick without her.
"Also, paper copies have to be sent out to minor royals so that they know the law is now in effect and so they can portray it to their people." Doug murmured as he picked up the last piece of paper on the desk and scanned it in. He turned to Mal. "Let's start with something simple. Let's say I'm a citizen and I've come to you asking about Law 37 subsection B because my local royal doesn't have a copy in his possession. What do you need to do?"
"Uh, get him a copy?" Mal guessed.
"And?" Doug prompted.
"I don't know."
"That's fine. That's why Ben and I are here. Anyway, you should send an extra copy to that royal, just so it won't happen again. Try and find 37.B." Doug gestured to the computer. "Ben, why don't you go see if you can find your notes from when your dad and I ran you through this course?" Ben snapped to attention, and then dashed out the door.
"Be right back!" He called over his shoulder.
Mal examined the screen. There was a laws folder, so she clicked on that. Doug made a sound of approval. Now there were a lot of numbers. She scrolled down to thirty-seven, and quickly found subsection B.
"Good job." Doug complimented her. "Now, of course, this isn't all you'll do as Queen. There're many jobs. Most of the time you'll be probably be delegating where resources are going and trying to create a strong infrastructure. The minor rulers are the ones who rule over the people as Official States of Auradon. If they're doing their jobs right, you shouldn't be bothered too much with that sort of work. We just wanted to start with something simple today. Some of your responsibilities are making sure good people have power, examining possible new laws for the United States of Auradon, and maybe a few odd jobs here and there. If you ever have any questions about specifics, Adam would be a great guy to ask. I'm sure you know he built the USA up almost from scratch. I'm mainly an IT guy, so I won't be able to do as much, but I'm still open to helping you out. Now, I've been told you're only going to concern yourself with the Isle of the Lost, is that correct?"
"Yes, that's right," Mal told Doug.
"Splendid. We have a file specifically for the Isle. It's in alphabetical order, so see if you can find it. Feel free to take a look around that file as we wait for Ben."
Mal quickly found the file. It was very, very full. There were several narrowing devices. Naturally, she was curious about herself and her friends. She searched her name, and several accounts of her mother came up. Then, part-way down, she found her own birth certificate and an enrollment form for Dragon Academy.
When she searched for her friends, she found Evie had the most documentation. Her mom had yearly health checkups, school enrollments, school work, and normal certification in there. Carlos's contained only his birth certificate and his schooling forms, and Jay's was completely empty.
"You're missing people," Mal told Doug after several minutes of examining the computer. "I don't see Jafar's son, Ursula's daughter, Hades's daughter, and I know Gaston has more kids than this."
"That's all the documentation the Isle sends us. We don't do much here with it. Maybe you can change that." Doug drummed his fingernails on the desk. "Hey, can I ask you something now?"
"You just did," May commented. "But go ahead." She clicked back to the screen where she searched for herself and found a document accounting for Maleficent on the Isle of the Lost, back when she'd been banished. The document read: Target effectively powerless.
"How do you feel about being queen?" Doug asked.
Mal let out a breath as she clicked back and found an incident report where a disturbance had appeared in the barrier. "Honestly? No idea. Don't want to get married. Don't want to die. Don't want to be trapped. It's all joyous feelings."
"You aren't excited for anything?" Doug asked.
"To be a ruler of my old hometown? Believe me, all I'm gaining is a title. The Isle of the Lost pays less attention to the Palace than they do to the dirt. I had more power when I actually lived there."
"What sort of power?"
"Oh, you should have seen me and my group. We were top dogs." Mal rolled away from the computer. "On a different note, I have a question."
Doug clapped his hands together. "Shoot." He replied.
"What if I need to make a document?" She asked.
"Oh, okay. At the bottom of the screen, there should be an icon with a 'W' on it. It's a document writing system. The palace has a whole bunch of unique formats for law writing and declarations and stuff like that. Just because you write a law down doesn't make it a law, by the way. You have to get it committee approved…" Doug trailed off. "Actually, I have no idea how the Isle of the Lost will work now that it's being handed to you. Go crazy, I guess."
"But not too crazy?" Mal asked with a smirk. She examined the Castle Documents with a critical eye. "So, if I'm to understand this correctly, the Isle of the Lost and Auradon are now separate."
"Not now," Doug said. "But after Ben and you are coronated, yeah. At least as far as I know."
Mal hummed in response and selected a blank document. She looked down and quickly discovered a roll-out shelf with a keyboard on it hidden in the desk.
"Are you writing a law right now?" Doug asked as he tried to crane his neck.
"No. I'm just messing around," Mal replied as she fiddled with the font type and size.
"Oh, here," Doug said. He whisked open a desk and started rummaging. "There's a really handy list of shortcut keys here somewhere…" He cursed. "I hope Ben isn't as messy as Adam is."
Mal snorted and began to tune him out as she started typing.
Doug couldn't find the hotkey list, so he gave up. Eventually, his phone began to ring so he left the room to answer it. By that time, Mal had started writing a letter.
Ben came back, but Doug was still on the phone and Mal was typing, so he put his old lined-paper notes on the desk and pulled out his phone to do stuff.
No one said anything until Mal looked up and said: "Ben, I would like to print this. How do I do that?"
"Control key and P," Ben said automatically. "At the same time." He added as an afterthought. He looked up from a multi-colored game system. "What are you doing?"
"Printing something," Mal said with pursed lips. "Control… ctrl?" Across the room, a machine began to hum loudly. Seconds later, a single piece of paper slid into the catcher, which was already full of many documents. Ben reached over and picked it up, and quickly skimmed it.
"Hey!" Mal snapped. "That's mine!" She pushed back from the desk and reached to snatch it from his grasp.
Ben frowned. "Mal, who are you writing to?"
Mal glared and snatched her paper from his grasp, nearly ripping it in the process. "An essay of nun-ya."
"I know it's not my business!" Ben exclaimed in exasperation as Mal stormed back to the desk. He stood up. "But I got to know, are you writing to someone on the Isle? Is it your mom?"
"What? Of course, it's not my mom!" Mal whirled around. "Do you honestly think I'd write to my selfish, horrible mother after she landed me in a hopeless situation where I'm stuck with you?!"
"Woah." A third voice said from the hallway. Ben and Mal's heads whipped towards the doorway. Doug stood with wide eyes and his hands up in a surrender position. His phone was in one hand, turned off. "Am I interrupting anything?"
"Yes." Mal said at the same time Ben said: "No." Mal glared at Ben out of the corners of her eyes.
"We're fine," Ben said. "All is well." He sat back down in his chair. Mal huffed out the last of her frustration and began to cool. She took a seat at the desk again. Doug walked cautiously into the room.
Mal folded her letter in fourths and sealed it with a piece of tape. Ben watched her.
"You know you can't send that, right?" He asked. Mal stilled and looked at him for an explanation – a quick one. He sighed and raked his nails over his skull. "If you send it to the Isle your mom will probably find out you've betrayed her. And if you contact your friends, I highly doubt she'd act kindly to them. It'd probably be safer for them if you sever ties." He thought for a moment. "If you were, by chance, going to send it to someone in Auradon, you should know all the mail gets screened anyway. Someone could have leaked you to the public. Not a problem, per se, but the press would become really annoying to you and me."
"They screen the mail?" Mal asked as she bit her cheek.
"Everything going in and out of the palace, yeah. And other mail places do it too with permission and knowledge of the public."
Mal creased her paper with a line in her forehead. She put it inside a pocket in her shirt and made a mental note to tape it to the underside of her desk. Then she ignored Ben and tried her best to pay attention to Doug.
Ben wasn't bothered by Mal's anger. He'd already had her anger directed at him and knew that, despite whatever she claimed, she was of the forgiving nature. She'd probably be back to normal tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the little he'd read in her letter was burned into the back of his mind. A scorching heat began in his head. Doug asked him a question, and so he pushed his thoughts away for another place and time. For duty's sake.

My Special Delivery: A birth story
The Beginning I woke up at 5 am on Mon June 4, 2018 without an alarm after a somewhat interrupted night’s sleep. I was wide awake and decided to start my day. Anyone who knows me knows that this is odd behavior [let’s just say I value my sleep]. I felt some minor menstrual-esque cramping throughout the morning. When the cramps had not subsided by 8:30am, I realized I had probably been having them throughout the night which caused my poor sleep. I spoke with my midwife, Heather, to notify her of what I was experiencing, and she explained that these were very early signs of labor – so early that I was most likely not in technical “Early Labor” yet and the symptoms could even continue for days without much progress. She encouraged me to stick to my normal routine and to communicate throughout the day. This response helped me to not overthink what I was experiencing. Still, I decided to stay home from work because I was a week from my due date and these early signs encouraged the realization that, that day or not, a baby was coming. My house was completely torn apart at the time as we were finishing a floor replacement and, being the procrastinators we are, we assumed we still had a week to finish. I spent the majority of the day alone meal-prepping, cleaning (knowing my mother-in-law would soon be on her way), working on baby laundry, and touching base with my employees. Juan checked in on me frequently to remind me to relax. **Side note: Juan was definitely in denial of the possibility that we could have a baby over the next 24 hours.** I napped often and for as long as my body would let me. My birthing plan was to deliver at SA Birthing Center sans medication or IV and I knew I was in the first phases of a marathon. As my contractions gradually intensified I kept replaying my midwives’ warnings of how exhaustion can complicate natural labor. As I kept in touch with my midwife throughout the day she was very calm and assured me that everything was normal and still early in the process. My mother and mother-in-law were a little more anxious and excited. My mom called me every few hours to see what I was feeling and reiterated that everything I was describing sounded like labor and that I needed to take it seriously. Juan’s mother jumped in a car in Mexico City and started making the 16 hour drive to San Antonio. By 5 pm my contractions had increased in frequency and intensity. Katie, the best Best Friend, came over to distract me as things got a little harder (keep in mind that Juan was busy all day trying to expedite our remodel and I was on my own with my contractions and my thoughts). She took me to Aldo’s for a spaghetti dinner and a glass of wine. At this point I was still composed, but definitely gripping the table every 5 minutes with each contraction. After dinner she stayed with me until around 9 pm, helping to fold baby laundry and supporting me as I tried different positions through each contraction. She helped time a few contractions to see where I was at; up until this point the only timing I had done was listening to music and considering how many songs would pass between contractions. By the time she left I was unable to continue conversing through contractions, and instead I was vocalizing/groaning until each one subsided. Katie tagged Juan in and he took over as my support. Active Labor Juan assisted with partner laboring positions and started thae timer. I spent the next couple hours of contractions in the labor position that seemed to work best for me, pushing against the wall (think of the position used when pushing a vehicle), all the while convincing Juan that this was actually happening. I had to consciously keep myself calm as I started to get anxiety thinking I was in for a long night and that I hadn’t gotten enough sleep to endure what was ahead of me. I did this until my contractions brought me to my knees. I finally got in a warm bath to see if that would help with the pain. It did somewhat, but it wasn’t long before my groans became loud enough that I knew my neighbors could hear me, and it was clear they weren’t going to get quieter any time soon. I convinced Juan [after repeatedly explaining to him that calling a midwife in the middle of the night wasn’t rude] to call Heather to determine the next steps. You should know that the midwives had told me that a vast majority of 1st time mothers try to check in to the birthing center well before they are ready and they end up getting examined and return home; I was determined to not go in until I couldn’t take much more pain. Heather said she would meet us at the birthing center. I turned the seat heaters on in the truck and rolled down the window to distract myself with the summer breeze. This was around 2am so the roads were empty and I was trying to focus on breathing and relaxing as much as possible. Heather was already at the birthing center when we arrived and she escorted me into the building. The birthing center is a small facility that feels like a house. I had every appointment and every class at the center and had met each person on staff prior to this point in my pregnancy. This familiarity helped me to feel instantly calmer being with Heather in this space. She examined me and I cried tears of joy as she reported that I was 8 cm dilated and that I was there to stay. I was incredibly relieved that my labor was going as I had expected, more or less, and it reinforced my confidence that I could do this considering I had already beasted through much of “Active Labor” on my own. Heather left us alone as she set up our birthing room. After a few minutes Heather walked me back to my room and helped me into the tub. Juan played some 90’s nostalgia as he sat on the side of the tub and we sang together between contractions. Juan was amazing throughout this process, feeding me water and Gatorade every few minutes, letting me crush his hand through my contractions, and encouraging me constantly. Eventually my other midwife, Cindy, arrived along with a training midwife who requested to be present. These 4 people (counting Juan), were my birth team. How I chose this team Throughout the 7-8 months that I was in the care of the SA Birth Center I had met all of the midwives in a few settings (classes, appointments, and miscellaneous phone calls for advice). One day I had shown up to the birthing center, frantic, because I hadn’t felt my little girl move in over 24 hours. This is when I met Heather. She dropped everything, told me that my feelings were valid, and swiftly ushered me into a private room. She pulled out the Doppler and I cried as I heard my baby’s strong, beautiful heartbeat. Cindy actually walked into the room looking for something as all of this was going on and stopped when she saw my face so that she could hold my hand and reassure me that my child would probably scare the shit out of me like this for the rest of my life. I felt like the 2 sides of my brain were standing in front of me: Heather – calm, caring, intuitive, vulnerable and Cindy – strong, matter-of-fact, honest. I knew that they would be what I needed during my delivery. Transition The personality traits of my team proved to be immensely helpful as “Transition” hit. Around 4 am I felt my water break in the birthing tub with a distinct “pop” feeling. This brought some relief, but I knew that the real work was about to start and I was apprehensive. It was time to dig in and push. Unexpectedly, pushing was what I struggled with the most in labor. I had already experienced more pain than ever in my life, and pushing required me to intentionally cause myself more pain and I had a hard time wrapping my head around that. This delayed the progress of my labor slightly. My midwives decided that I should get out of the tub and try laboring on the bed. I pushed while lying on my side with some success and eventually ended up on my back. I was tired and started to complain as a coping mechanism. Cindy reminded me that pushing through was the only way to end the pain and that my only choice was to keep going. I don't recall ever considering transferring to a hospital or getting an epidural, but I learned later that at this point Juan thought I wasn’t going to make it through delivery at the birthing center. Cindy’s realness shut me up quickly as she informed me that if we couldn’t get the baby out relatively quickly that I would need to transfer for the baby’s safety. It clicked that I was either going to do this, or I wasn’t. I buckled down and pushed with all I had. Heather monitored as the baby crowned and encouraged me to feel her head so that I could see just how close I was to delivery. The midwives positioned Juan to be ready to catch his little girl, while reminding him that they were there for me and that if he passed out he was on his own. I screamed while pushing through the next contractions and her head was out. Juan was caught off guard seeing a grey, lifeless baby partially delivered and started to get scared. At this point, Heather noticed that the baby’s arm was stuck behind her back and Cindy had Juan move out of the way and immediately told me to reposition to a runner’s pose. She assisted me in flipping from my back to a lunge in the center of the bed with one knee down and the other knee up with my foot planted on the bed. Keep in mind that I’m making this move scared and in pain, with a baby hanging out of me. At this point I had completely surrendered to the instruction of my midwives and didn’t even have time to process what was happening. Cindy told me that the baby could be delivered in one more push and to give everything I had with the next contraction. I prepared myself in the next few seconds before the contraction and grabbed onto all of the strength I had left. In that last push, at 5:22 am, Margot Rose Trejo Meyer was born weighing in at 7lbs, 6.5 oz. She was flawess. After delivery As my child was placed on my chest, she immediately latched onto my breast and started nursing. The midwives were doing their paperwork and required exams of the baby and me. I was beat. I still needed to deliver the placenta, but as Cindy examined me the umbilical cord detached from the placenta. This was a small complication, but eventually the placenta was delivered. Cindy massaged my lower abdomen and blood poured out of me. Between the discomfort of the uterine massage, the bleeding, and me being in a little bit of shock, I began to worry. My mother’s primary fear with labor/delivery, especially outside of a hospital, was hemorrhaging; she had repeated this fear to me a few times. The word was stuck in my brain and I came to understand it as certain death. Heather continued to talk to me and ask if I was OK because fear was plastered all over my face. She assured me they were monitoring my bleeding. Cindy had to put up with me all but pushing her off of me as she continued the uterine massages, explaining that it was being done in my best interest. In the hour following delivery I was reassured that there were no immediate concerns. Heather examined me and informed me that I had not torn at all, encouraged me to get up and use the bathroom, and set me up with my post partem panty situation. They cleaned up the bed in time for my mom’s arrival, and she looked on as Heather walked Juan through his first diaper change. Not long after, Juan set me up with a Pizza Lunchable and a Gaterade and left to finish putting our condo back together following the remodel progress he made the day prior (yes, he did this after being up all night with me). The midwives gave us our privacy and as Margot slept in my mom’s arms in the corner of the room, I felt safe and finally got to sleep after such an intense 24+ hours. A few hours later, I woke up slowly to the sound of a woman in labor in the room next to me. After a while Heather came in to check on me and I was cleared to be discharged. I called Juan to come pick us up and slowly got dressed with Heather’s help. Juan, Margot, and I left the birthing center around noon and headed to my parent’s house to get some much needed sleep. Final thoughts I knew that natural labor would be the hardest thing I’ve ever endured, and there’s really no preparing yourself for that. Honestly, immediately following delivery I was sure I would never have another child because the whole ordeal was a lot to unpack. Ultimately the experience was intense, but I’ve never been more proud of myself. My choice to deliver the way I did was questioned by basically everyone. Many of the mothers in my life called me crazy on numerous occasions, but I did it… and I doubt anyone who really knows me is actually surprised that my stubborn ass chose this way and saw it through. My delivery was NOT easy, but it was beautiful and it taught me more about my own strength and the unwavering support of my partner than I ever imagined it would. Looking back now I can see that I traded the comfort that is offered with an epidural for the control and confidence that comes without it. I traded the security of a team of doctors and advanced medical equipment in a hospital for the serenity and familiarity of the birthing center and my midwives. I couldn’t have asked for a better duo than Heather and Cindy to guide the birth of my daughter and the birth of me as a mother. I am forever grateful to everyone mentioned here for contributing to my success in delivering my beautiful baby girl.

TODAY’S ZELDABLOGGING, which has ENDGAME SPOILERS (yes i beat it):
all right i got about ~3 hours to get my shield and beat zelda lets fucking do this
the temple of time music is breaking my heart
this is one place where i'm mostly ok with them not using a classic tune for it tbh
like this music has so much grief and tranquility
i used to think the plateau was SO huge and really it's almost miniscule
i know it's a bit of a waste of time but i'm making the final trek on foot, no fast travel, temple of time to the castle
So Many Guardians
i can fight them now but only if theyre in the right place too close or far away and i cant do it
on a side note: yesterday (?) i found a beautiful pink spring i took many pictures of
today i saw that glowing spot on the map and realized i'd never figured out what it was!
dropped a pin bc i was curious, and it's the pink spring
temptation to warp over, check it out, and warp back: astronomical

i've been spoiled by the fact that zelda has a diary laying out somehwere so i wanna find it for myself
ohhh the remains of the red carpet in here
i'm actually next to the tower i climed before, apparently i was just shy of exploring all there was to see up there...i'll see if i can have another look

jesus christ, old man disappeared last too, my HEART
theyre gonna restore hyrule!! they're gonna travel together again!!
okay i GOTTA load my file and see what's what
awww it's the one i saved right before the battle i thought there was post-game content...?
it does have a little star next to it tho
ah well
that was.......incredible
and i cried
so there's that
man!!!!! im so, so glad
what a good game
honest crit: no, it wasn't PERFECT
i could have stood more classic tunes to punch me in the feels more often and give us more of that old #aesthetic since they changed SO much about everything else - at times it didn't even quite feel like a zelda game, though the reminders that it WAS were always heartbreaking and wonderful
also maybe this was just my playstyle but i feel like there could have been more than just the four dungeons since they were so short...i know the dungeon-y puzzle stuff was spread all around with koroks and shrines, but is One big dungeon too much to ask? even hyrule castle had 1000 ways you could have gotten through
could have stood a little more acknowledgement of who you were and what you were doing as the divine beasts started waking up? like from npcs and shit, not even for Glory or whatever but just because the story felt reeeeeeally spread out, even with the memories scattered everywhere
and again a little bias here but some of the battles once you began getting Up There were a little TOO fake-difficult...i saw white bokoblins in old old places so i know it has to do with You, not your location, and i could have lived w/o it tbh
would have loved some form of new game + or postgame content, but maybe i'm just sad bc i misunderstood a spoiler or w/e it was that happened
things i loved:
the music
the cinematics, holy shit
the voice acting
when they DID use classic tunes it was to INCREDIBLE effect, same with the castle style, the ruins, even the nostalgic armor
obviously the open world gameplay was delightful and addicting, i literally couldn't get enough
the final boss battle wasn't too hard but VERY climactic and wonderful, just difficult Enough - could have maybe been a BIT harder but then i did start with him at half health!!
the dungeons, while there weren't enough of them, were EXTREMELY cool, i felt DWARFED by those beasts, after i saw the first one i never called them jaegers again
actually kind of liked the weapon durability thing bc then i could just pick them up during combat when i was running low and steal them or fight with them, throw them, etc
did not like the BOW durability, all my bows broke VERY quickly, that and running out of arrows always was totally urgh...even with my weapons inventory upgraded i STILL couldn't hold all the cool ones the game threw at me, it needed to be like that for players that favored the bow - more of them that were OP, more arrows, etc
anyway i could go on and on but
i gotta sleep, and
i'm so happy zelda is free
it would have been so cool to have her as a companion in post-game, Somehow
or at least see her reunion with all those who missed her
or see link get his memories back
it ended a bit too soon but it was beautiful and i loved it
goodnight

So I went to go see Beauty and the Beast again, this time on my own so I wouldn’t be distracted by chatty family members like the first time.
There was a reasonable amount of people who went when I did this time, I guess they’re the people who are either rewatching it like me or they’re the people who have normal lives and can watch a film a few weeks after it comes out and are perfectly okay with that. Either way, it was a nice set of people.
There was one group of women who had I think three young kids who would say something adorable at the best moments, the one that cracked me up the most was when after the the wolf scene, one of the kids said “This is too adult for me, this turned into a adult one, Mummy.” She says this when it went really quiet too so everyone in the screen laughed.
But that one group got annoying later on.
Specifically one of the Mother’s.
Here’s the thing. When you go see a movie that has well known songs, it’s common decency to NOT sing along loudly with the film. And yet, this is what happened during the dancing scene. And it’s pretty obvious why singing along is rude because I was sitting there trying to focus on the movie, and yet I kept on getting distracted because this Mum was singing along and encouraging the kids to do the same.
I wouldn’t have a problem with it if it was just the kids singing, they’re kids and obviously they knew the song and being kids, they’re gonna sing along and they have no idea that singing along is distracting for others. No, my problem was with the Mum who started it and continued on. Her voice was also very grating so again, it was annoying hearing her from the side of me while I’m trying to bask in this film’s prettiness.
But anyway, I enjoyed myself more on my 2nd watch, I found myself smiling so big at Be Our Guest and Gaston which was surprising since before, I didn’t really think much of those two scenes, but this time I really enjoyed it.
Despite how many people hated Emma’s autotune, I’m just really indifferent to it? I mean, I went through a Nightcore phase a few years back, so maybe I’m more accepting when it’s used. I honestly liked Emma’s singing in this, autotune be damned. Some people need it and there’s no fucking shame in that. I know people are pissed because ‘Oh but there are probably SO MANY girls out there who COULD sing and didn’t get the part!’ And all I hear are whiny bitches who are really saying ‘I hate Emma Watson and I should’ve been Belle!’ To each their own opinions, but the general hate I’ve seen on Emma is so petty. Emma was the perfect Belle and I liked her better than the animated Belle to be quite honest. Whoops I said it.
DAN STEVENS. GOD DAMN DAN. He was one of the main reasons why I wanted to watch the movie a second time on the big screen. The CGI is incredible! Before I saw the movie the first time, I was a tiny bit worried about that aspect since I’d heard people say it can be distracting, but I thought it was very well done. I mean, I’ve seen some very shitty CGI in both movies and tv shows, but this film did a perfect job.
I think people forget that we all know CGI is created to make something look real, but we all really know it isn’t. CGI can’t really trick us since we KNOW it’s not real, and yet it’s nitpicked when it doesn’t meet many people’s standards. It’s annoying especially when this film did a great job creating a Beast that Dan was able to act through brilliantly. The fact that they made the Beast with Dan on stilts and his facial expressions captured. It’s just fascinating to me.
So when I came for a 2nd watch, I focused all my attention onto the Beast when he was on screen, I didn’t want to miss a MOMENT of that perfection.
(Also before I forget to mention, one thing that really annoyed me was when they did that swooping shot of Belle’s room when she first goes in, and when she went into the West Wing. I don’t know what they did, but those shots are very blurry when in motion when they try to show us the rooms in it’s entirety. They could’ve been very beautiful shots and yet they were really blurred and that really annoyed me.)
I loved all the other characters. To be honest though, I come to watch this movie because I like the story of Belle and the Beast developing together and seeing them fall in love. I liked the supporting characters sure, but I’d rather focus on the leading characters.
Being a part of the LGBTQ community AND READING THE NOVELISATION BEFORE I SAW THE FILM, I knew I liked how LeFou turned out. And this was before the shitstorm happened after Disney announced LeFou was gay. I knew this before that announcemnet since it was pretty freaking obvious in the novel that he was, so it was REALLY FUCKING ANNOYING WHEN PEOPLE IN THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY STARTED TO JUMP TO THE WORST CASE SCENARIOS
I was honestly so tempted to spoil his character development to the whiners. And yet I didn’t and just blocked a bunch of stupid people on this site. SO MANY PEOPLE. Ugh.
Anyway, I was pleased how he turned out in the film. I know people say Disney is just giving them scraps, but honestly guys? This wasn’t LeFou’s movie. It was Beauty and the Beast. Focusing on LeFou and his sexuality wasn’t supposed to be the movie no matter how much you wished he’d gotten more screentime, he’s a supporting character who eases people into realising that gay people are real and it’s normal to be so.
Hopefully one day Disney will create a movie with a leading gay character, but Beauty and the Beast isn’t it. It’s nice to even HAVE a gay character and have it be confirmed before it came out. I’m not saying we should accept the little things. I’m saying we can be happy Disney is stepping in the right direction, especially since they refused to let countries cut and air the film because of the gay aspects. The day will come when we get a LGBTQ lead hero/heroine. Just gotta be patient guys. It will happen when more of the general audience becomes more accepting of the gay characters that BY THE WAY BECAME REFORMED. LeFou had good character development, we need that. We just have to encourage it instead of bitching that it’s not enough. Bitching isn’t going to make Disney make more gay characters, it’s going to make them stop trying altogether and then we’re back to square one. Just chill and hang in there.
I loved Gaston too. But love as in he was a great villain to hate. I know people think he’s more sympathetic in this one, but I’ve got to disagree with that one. In the book, he’s basically the same, but his inner thoughts are all about him trying to fill this hole he has after the war and that Belle is what he needs to fill it.
And I just hate that so much because he’s basically just stuck onto her and he thinks she should just go along with it because why not? He has a hole, so Belle needs to fill it, despite how she feels. And I’ve noticed that the inevitable happened and people started to say Belle was mean for turning him down beCAUSE POOR BABY IS FEELING LIKE HE’S MISSING SOMETHING AND OBVIOUSLY BELLE HAS TO TAKE HIS FEELINGS INTO ACCOUNT JUST BECAUSE-
and oh my god I hate when this happens. When people start to make excuses for the villains because THEY’RE SNOWFLAKES
No. Gaston is still an asshole, he just has a reason to pursue to Belle now instead of her just being beautiful.
I’ve also seen people vilify Maurice for denying Gaston Belle’s hand. In the book it’s much the same, but it’s more descriptive on what Maurice is thinking about how Gaston is losing his temper and this is basically what drives Maurice to say that Gaston would never marry his daughter. Maurice sees how bad Gaston’s temper can get, so do people really think it’s bad of him to say no to this man marrying his daughter? What parent would see that scene and go ‘SURE YOU CAN MARRY MY KID’
No, Maurice obviously saw that Gaston got unstable when he wasn’t getting what he wanted. And he was like ‘HECK NO YOU AIN’T MARRYING MY DAUGHTER, YOU’D PROBABLY BLOW UP ON HER LIKE YOU ARE NOW WITH ME AT SOME POINT AND I AM NOT HAVING THAT’ Maurice is a wonderful parent. But since he said ‘No’ to Snowflake Gaston, people got pissed and defensive.
That can honestly ruin a good villain by the way. Trying to humanize him and sweeping his bad traits and crimes under the rug so he’ll look better so you can feel better about fawning over him more. Wait, there you go. Those types of people can be called the Bimbettes since they fawn over him the whole movie, even when he’s being a dick TO THEM.
Moving on, I said I liked the supporting characters. I didn’t think Mrs Potts was nightmare inducing like other people thought. I think the design is actually very pretty and it fits with the theme of the castle and the century. I recently read that the reason her mouth wasn’t under the spout was because she’d look like a demented pig, so I’m glad they made her this way.
I love Lumiere and Plumette! I like that Lumiere is more devoted to one woman rather than him seeming like a playboy. Didn’t really care about Cogsworth. I mean he’s there and it’s nice and seeing Lumiere aggravate him is fun to watch, but otherwise from that, I don’t care.
Garderobe and Candanza (did I spell them right?) were nice additions. It’s also good to have more than one interracial couple that is perfectly healthy and happy looking! When they said goodbye to one another and he says ‘Don’t leave me!’ and he’s forcing himself to keep playing and then his lights go out. THAT. THAT WAS HEARTBREAKING. Also the score of that scene made it even more so. Damn and bless you, Alan Menken!
The last scene is always my favourite. I WISH we could’ve had more Prince Adam! I ship Adam and Belle so hard right now AND THAT GROWL
(Side note: I loved Evermore so much that I sing it in public, very off key, to my Mum who looks at me like I went crazy, but also knows what I’m singing from so just bears through the pain!)
My thoughts on the news of a possible prequel or spinoff? I don’t want either. I want this movie to stay it’s own thing. I’m okay with the idea that these live action remakes are basically cashgrabs and I’m really okay with that since I like these remakes. But it’s a bit to much for me when a film does so good that a follow up movie ends up being in the works and ultimately flops in the creative aspect. See most Disney animated sequels. I like some of those because I watched them as a kid, but I know they aren’t great.
Also the rumour going around that Disney may make the live action a whole universe like Marvel and DC do with their movies...Nah. Nope. Don’t Want.
Look. I’ve followed Once Upon A Time for 4 years now. That show has ruined intertwined Disney characters for me forever. I have a love/hate relationship with that show. And I know having the character have ‘squad’ films will only ruin the whole thing. It’s just a stupid idea.
Anyway that’s my review of Beauty and the Beast (my real one since I never did one for my first watch)
BTW MULAN NEEDS IT’S MUSIC NUMBERS OTHERWISE THE MOVIE ISN’T GOING TO BE AS SUCCESSFUL
DISNEY BATB IS DOING SO WELL MAINLY FOR THE MUSIC, DON’T BE STUPID AND REALIZE YOU ARE MAKING MONEY BECAUSE DISNEY MUSIC DRAWS PEOPLE IN
