I've had this headcanon about Yoshimitsu having some sort of connection with the Fu-Ma clan because they raised Yoshimitsu II, and I've just remembered today that there is another connection: Nki.

No, that wasn't a keysmash.

Nki is easily the most enigmatic Fu-Ma members. They are described as being rarely seen by clan itself, their face is covered in a cloth mask; even Nki's gender is unknown. The relationship chart above shows that they are a survivor from Yoshimitsu's clan, which had been massacred by Oda Nobunaga's forces.

My one complaint is that this puts a hole in Yoshimitsu being the only survivor, but I'll just pretend that it's a secret in story. Things are further complicated by the Fu-Ma leader Toki being the one who helped Oda nearly annihilate the Manji clan in order to steal the cursed blade Mekki-Maru. (Thereby setting up an important subplot for Taki, by the way.) I might also add that Nki is part of a faction whose job is to be a living sword of Damocles for the clan leader. By SC5, with Toki dead, they're described as monitoring Taki and Mekki-Maru (I'm guessing because of the latter more than anything).

Murder. Or more accurately, "justified murder." Jin keeps going back and forth on whether murder is sometimes justified or not. He was raised pacifistic by his mother, but... after seeing the damages caused by Kazuya, Heihachi, and his devil, Jin does wonder if some people really do deserve to die. Therefore, he frequently feels conflicted about this. He went from thinking murder is bad, to murder is justified, to murder is bad, to murder is justified, and again - to murder is probably bad. Despite having been previously homicidal before defeating his father, Jin will do anything he can to refrain from killing. Hell, it's another reason why he's giving his devil a second chance. He's trying to take after his mother, again.

And Ninjas. Jin used to have no respect for Ninja, or at the very least, the concept of ninja. He may like the anime Naruto, but Ninja in real life were notorious to having no honor and doing whatever, especially the dirty deeds of people who didn't want to stain their honor. Whilst Jin still doesn't like what ninja were in history, or the initial concept, he no longer disapproves of everyone who practices ninjutsu. This is due to meeting good people like Yoshimitsu, Raven, and Victor. Kunimitsu is still on thin fucking ice tho.

His entire view on humanity. To be fair, the reason why Devil even hated humanity in the first place was because it was "hardwired coding" programmed into by Azazel when creating devils. Devil himself was meant to be Azazel's wrath against humanity's sins. So when Jin removed all of Azazel's influence on Devil via purification, Devil's hatred for humanity vanished. Devil is now curious about humanity, and willing to see them as more than just "sinners" or "creatures to be ruled." He'd like to understand them better, and to help them, too.

Devil still doesn't like robots much (sorry Alisa) but unlike before... he is also still willing to learn about them and how they can gain sentience. He just... understands them even less than humanity right now.

this post and my undying yearning for Tekken 8 gave me an idea last night that GRIPPED me with HERCULEAN STRENGTH until 6AM THIS MORNING so. if anything sounds weird it's because I'm running on less than 4 hours of sleep whoops--

I love the idea of a backstory swap for these two! I actually used to have an OC/SI who was part of the Manji clan but never had any ideas for her beyond that. So what better time to finally put her to use than this!! :D

this also gave me the perfect excuse to share my headcanon for what Yoshimitsu looks like beneath the mask kdjfhg

Story under the cut 👀

Seppenmitsu is the leader of the infamous Manji clan, modern-day Robin Hoods who steal the wealth hoarded by greedy individuals and corporations and distribute it to those less fortunate. She was blinded in battle during a heist, but was saved by the doctor whose building she and her clan raided. He fitted her with a special mask that restored her sight (...somewhat - she can still only see vague shapes and no color), and she's been a close friend to him ever since.

Despite her new equipment, she still dedicates much of her time to senses training, teaching herself to know her surroundings even without the mask. Though she's trained for quite some time, it's not perfect - she could get around fine without the mask, but fighting would be significantly more difficult due to all the noise that happens during battle, especially in loud places like arenas or anywhere else with big crowds.

She enters the King of Iron Fist tournament with the goal of robbing the Mishima Zaibatsu of more than just the prize money. Throughout her matches, she learns of another participant but doesn't ever get to meet him directly - a man named Yoshi, whose combat skill was originally honed solely for self defense, but eventually became a hobby of his. From what she hears, he runs a humble repair shop in a little corner of a nearby town, able to fix all sorts of things from electronics to furniture and machinery, even prosthetics.

This knowledge comes in handy when one day during a fight, Seppenmitsu's mask is broken. She makes her way to this man's repair shop, and is flattered to learn he had actually watched all of her matches, admiring her fighting style and the way she presented herself during battle. He says he'd be delighted to take on the project of fixing her mask, feeling it is an honor given who she is.

She finds Yoshi sweet, albeit a bit eccentric, but that just adds to his charm - not to mention he's rather humble and his praise flatters her greatly. It all seems to be more than just professionalism, and admittedly she finds herself a bit smitten. So much that even after her mask is repaired, she starts bringing him anything that's broken as an excuse to keep meeting with him - the handles of her weapons, pieces of her armor, and...a gaming console? (that one surprises Yoshi - what are the odds that such a strong and noble woman shares his gaming hobby??)

Eventually she comes to Yoshi's shop for her mask once more, but he points out that it's perfectly intact, and she's caught in her little ruse. She confesses her intentions, thinking he'll find it strange...but he's actually very flattered that she's been going to such lengths just to see him, and so they start hanging out more regularly~

Hello, may I request a matchup? She/her, I’m pretty reserved and kind of timid, though I do have my 2am crackhead moments when I’m comfortable enough with someone. ♡  Hakusan believes to be very separated from the rest of the sword warriors due to the fact that he is a tsurugi (double edge sword that tends to be used in  legends and mythology), He is very different from the rest of the swords because he can’t talk like a normal human.

♡  His speech and form is a big reason why he isolates himself from everyone. Rarely seen interacting with anyone and staying inside with his fox, his only friend. His brothers try to get close to him but even they find it difficult. 

♡  You have to be patient with this one. He is very reserved like you. It may even take a while for you to get used to his speech patterns. 

♡  Being someone who also tends to stay indoors often and keep to yourself will have him warming up to you a little easier than the rest. 

♡  You may have to start the conversation first or he may comment on something you are reading that ends up with the two of you slowly speaking to one another more often.

♡  When the two of you do warm up to one another and start spending time together, even if it’s just reading in silence together. Hakusan will slowly start feeling more welcomed in the citadel. He won’t realize it at first but the next morning when he thinks “I am accompanying aruji today... This shall be intriguing”, he will realize that he has grown to love spending his days with you.

♡  Never before has he looked forward to something, nevertheless another person. He had always been “designed” to do his “tasks” and “report” back to command when he had discovered something worth note.

♡  Who know the thing worth note was his aruji all along. 

♡  When you start to get excited about something and start to ramble about everything all at once, he will feel his constant frown suddenly twitch. His face so badly wanting to express an emotion he had not felt once before. The only one who seemed to notice besides himself, is his fox. A silence side eye at his companion is all he gives Hakusan.

♡  Hakusan is a tsurugi that is full of knowledge. What he lacks in emotional understanding, he makes up in a plethora of information. 

♡  Don’t understand something on medicine? You can ask him and it will feel like he turned into a robot and began to read off the Wikipedia page on what you just asked. 

♡  It also helps that he is a magical sword that is able to heal others with his power. Medically helping others is in his blood (but is there blood there-). 

♡  Due to his nature, he picks up on things rather fast. He will watch you draw and then start to try to mimic your movements to join you. He doesn’t seem to be able to visualize images in his mind perfectly so drawing isn’t exactly easy for him. He knows you enjoy it so he tries to learn.

♡  He is willing to listen to all your tips if you wish to try to teach him. 

♡  Hakusan has a tough learning curve with video games. There is so many that sometimes his brain doesn’t exactly understand what he has to do. Fighting games is where he is able to play the most efficiency. He will win quite a few rounds but as you start to read his movements, he will struggle... badly. 

♡  Naps is something he never did until he started to spend time with you. At first, his fox came to cuddle with you while Hakusan did his own thing (normally in the garden finding herbs). As time goes on, he slowly getting in the habit of resting with you. 

♡  It started with him just laying next to you while reading so you had someone there in case you didn’t want to be alone... To him gazing at your face and him wondering about so many things he wishes to ask you. Until finally the question pops up, “I ponder how it would feel to rest beside you.”

♡  Ever since then, he began to nap with you from time to time. He really enjoyed the quiet time beside you while feeling safe and, what he didn’t realize before this, loved.

♡  Hakusan’s vocal cords are seemly unable to raise much higher than his normal octave. So you won’t need to worry about him or his fox ever scaring you. If anything, they will scare you from suddenly appearing due to them being TOO silent. 

♡  Hakusan would have a tough time comforting you from loud noises. Especially if you are scared of thunder storms. He will start with giving you all the probabilities of the lighting actually hitting you and telling you how unlikely it is so you needn’t fret. Of course... That doesn’t help.

♡  He will catch onto that and try to hold you close instead while his speech tries to break itself, “It... It is fine. You are safe. I’m here, aruji.”

♡  Hakusan had no experience with physical affection before meeting you. At most, his fox would lay on his shoulders. That was his extent of physical affection.

♡  You opened a new door for him. He never realize how much could be said from just someone resting their head on your shoulder. Or how much a hug helped everything light up in the world.

♡  He gets into the habit of holding your hand as you two spend time together reading or doing another activity. He doesn’t dare kiss you. But he will rest his forehead against yours and close his eyes at times. That is his ultimate way of saying he cherishes you without actually saying it. 

♡  Overtime you two will work up kissing. But best to not make him short circuit from doing it too soon.

♡  Hakusan is also 5ft( 154cm). The two of you are very adorable being smol together 💖.

♡  The real struggle you will face is slowly building up that trust between the two of you. As well as learning through Hakusan’s physical actions because that is what truly shows his love for you. He is not an easy person to understand and get close to but I think out of everyone, you can do it.
