In two days (Oct 23) it will be the two year anniversary of the first ever chapter of Yongbok and Noona's story, What It Is To Burn. As of this moment, there are 179,282 words written across 3 'books'. We've listened to 62 songs together, each one an ode to the desperate high of young love.

In two days, I will post the next chapter of These Things I've Done to celebrate, and then I will take a little vacation. I will be on hiatus until New Years, which coincidentally is where we will leave Bokbok on Wednesday night :)

Thank you to everyone who has read and appreciated what I was trying to do with this story. It wasn't always well-received due to the subject matter, but I do plan to continue on with Bokkie and Noona.

“Don’t get yourself into any trouble tonight, Yongbokkie,” Noona lectures, her sweet, strawberry hair intoxicating. I bury my face in it angrily. “Don’t talk to strangers and don’t go off on your own. Stay with Jisungie. Lord knows he needs a chaperone. And keep your phone with you. I’ll text you when I get home –”

Her sisterly words are nothing but a soft buzz in my ear. If I let go of her now - if she gets in her car and drives off without me - I’m going lose my mind tonight.

Part 3 of 4 of Changbin and Felix's weird night. This chapter was so hard to write (and rewrite, and rewrite) but I'm finally happy with it. The next chapter is about halfway written and turning out to be a lot sweeter than I initially envisioned lol. See you in about two weeks!

“Kids,” Mom says as we take off our seatbelts and prepare to exit, “please remember to keep your hands to yourself. If you break anything in this house, I might have to sell both of you to pay for it.”

I’m not entirely sure she’s joking. Yongbok grins at me mischievously in the backseat, his pale hand reaching out to squeeze my thigh while our parents disembark and stretch. He chose our matching outfits tonight all by himself, only demanding that my lips be red to match the sneakers laced on my feet. I still have to cling to him to keep my balance in the yard, but I don’t think he minds a bit. When we join our parents at the tailgate, Mom raises an eyebrow at us, but only because we haven’t answered her (very serious) threat.

“Yes, ma'am,” we reply together, my baby and me, with our fingers intertwined.
