Prominent French Jews lament the electoral success of a political bloc that features a far-left party widely regarded as antisemitic in the country’s parliamentary elections.

This reaction is in response to news that the New Popular Front, which includes the Socialist Party and the France Unbowed far-left party, or LFI, garnered the highest share of the vote in today’s final round, with 175 to 205 seats according to a preliminary count, followed by the Ensemble! party of President Emmanuel Macron (150 to 175) and then the far-right National Rally (115-150).

Moshe Sebbag, a rabbi for the Synagogue de la Victoire, tells The Times of Israel that “it seems France has no future for Jews.” He advises young French Jews to leave for Israel.

“But people my age, who are 50, 60, we’ve made our life here and we fear for the future of our children,” he says. His assessment is not due solely to the left-wing bloc’s success, but to the mainstreaming of antisemitism in general in France, he says.

“The left is once again kidnapped by the infamous Melenchon. Divisive language. Hate of the republic on the lips. Around him right now are some incarnations of the new antisemitism. A chilling moment. A stain: Continue to fight against these people,” French-Jewish philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy writes on X.

Jean-Luc Melenchon is the leader of LFI, and in a 2017 speech called French Jews “an arrogant minority that lectures to the rest.” He is on record in an earlier speech as celebrating anti-Israel protesters days after some of them stormed a synagogue, condemning in that speech only French Jews who demonstrated to show solidarity with Israel.

“Melenchon’s victory is a terrible signal of impunity sent to the anti-Jewish Islamo-Faschists,” writes French-Jewish journalist Yohann Taieb on X.

The elections do not necessarily affect Macron’s presidency, but may make it more difficult to pass legislation and some executive actions.

Annual OC Redraw 10TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL!

Every December 25th is my OC Yohann's birthday. Officially, in real life, he's finally turned 10. 10 years of writing, AUs, making friends, coping with that Bad Shit, & celebrating that Good Shit.

Still getting over my nastiest of flus, as well as this (almost year-old diagnosis of) ulcerative colitis, I can't say this years is one of my favorites. he was a partner in wagner rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbh after being recruited by his friend's father, markus wagner. during his time in the firm, his friend from college, karl wagner, always got compared to him because obviously, karl is a child of nepotism &. markus actually didn't like karl working in the firm but due to his notorious reputation, he needed to keep him in arm's length; johann was loved in the firm due to his working-class background which is similar to markus' &. his determination which earned him the title silver tongue amongst others, but comrade jo by karl. however, upon markus' death, the firm was slowly declining with karl succeeding &. jo's personal life is deteriorating thus they had to do a m & a to other law firm &. his position soon got replaced ( laid off ) because of karl &. he had to endure divorce and restarting his life work and personal life.

during his marriage with anaïs, he was an active participant in numerous humanitarian aid organizations &. lgbtq+ communities because anaïs is a queer moroccan - french actress. he oft times gives speeches as grantor for several organizations however one time, there was a scandal about money-laundering on one of the organizations therefore he has become more selective upon donating some of his money

going out in his motorcycles. it is therapeutic for him, to just drive mindlessly with the cold air meeting his face as he basks into the scenery. he loves to do grand-tour in europe using his motorcycles.

anaïs dumas, it is self-explanatory. he loves her far too much. even after his divorce with her, if she calls him, he would answer it. this because he believes they have a bigger bond than just a couple; they have gone through so much together &. they are each other safe place. he understands her struggles more than anyone, but they just can't be a couple, as it would ruin them, but it is better to have someone knows you as forever person, right?

nina dreyman, his cousin from his mother side. they were called as twins than cousins. nina had saved him from drowning, &. they had promised each other that they would leave the german village together as artists but their conservative family had forbid them &. they were stirred into functional profession. however, because johann is a male, his mother's family was rather supportive to him to pursue his degree &. get out from the town whilst until now, nina is still in their hometown. she hates him for leaving her to their family &. he is still trying to regain his relationship with her by visiting her oftentimes during christmas to help her with her triplets &. her mother/his aunt.

otis &. olivia &. olena dreyman, nina's triplets. three of them are six now &. each children are different; otis loves football, olivia aspires to become a ballerina just like nina when she was young &. olena wants to become a painter. he often video-calling them &. helping their homeworks through chat as their father isn't in relationship with nina anymore. they have filled johann's parental idealism to become a father.

tobias lund, his best friend who lives in his berlin house. tobias is one of artists who lives in johann's berlin house upon his leaving to america. tobias has turned his house into an artist community living-home which consists about six people living in johann's house. when johann returns home, some of the people would leave but most of them stay because tobias insists that johann doesn't mind, &. johann does not mind. they had a fling together, but it didn't mean anything to either of them because he knows johann doesn't see him romantically.

two things your character regrets.

letting anaïs to drive during her six months of pregnancy. she was going to strasbourg during the weekend to visit her sister who was currently vacationing there. their driver was sick &. he had to go back to berlin for monday's schedule. anaïs had an accident &. lost the baby. until now, he regretted that he could have stayed &. drive her to her sister, but he didn't.

he didn't pull his mother on time from the rubbles. the autopsy had concluded that she was already dead from the gas but sometimes, he thought, he could have saved her. but now, the case is still open to determine whether it was an accident or murder with the possible suspects are his father ( who had gone missing ever since ) &. him. if he could have had pulled her on time, perhaps his name wouldn't be smeared &. he wouldn't have to deal with the threats from his blackmailer that claims to know about his father's past &. the link to the ' accident '

one phobia your character has.

perhaps it could be being ridiculed / catagelophobia. he is so self-reserved &. attentive about his image upon others that if gets ridiculed or lampooned or losing an argument in public space, he would sometimes having a panic attack in the bathroom. thus if he tries to absorb every knowledge there is &. attentively creating narrative without any loophole therefore he wouldn't get exposed or publicly shamed upon.

Kado Orie is the source of the Mirages, using the Harada factor in synergy with his Factor Artifact. He has either a Red or a Green one (SNMT has the Rainbow, and Sueko has the other Red/Green). If i HAD to pick I would assign him the red (due to the color in his design) and that way Lin (N portman) gets the green at some point from his mom

The longer that you're in the mirage, the more you become a 'fictional' character; You start losing your memories... and Miwa is the one who's been in there the longest, and he went in there INTENTIONALLY, which is why he has no memories outside of being 'Dita'.

Similarly, i want Dita to have an identity crisis over whether or not he's "Real". I want him to choose violence <3

THE CURSED OMEGA

PAIRING: Alpha!Dean x Omega!Reader

SUMMARY: Omega!Reader wanted to live by herself so she went to her pack Alpha to allow her stand on her own feet. Her pack Alpha agreed but on one condition and that is if Omega!Reader wears a cursed silver bracelet to protect her. But to break the silver bracelet and the curse, she has to find a mate and get pregnant.

You and Dean are rivals. Dean being stubborn, arrogant, egoistical hunter, he doesn't appreciate a help from a stranger especially from a genius one. Not like you want to get involved with the cases that Sam and Dean are working on, but you’re already in the middle of the case when you bumped into the Winchester brothers. You can’t back off.

You truthfully do not understand what's wrong being a genius. Didn’t Sam a genius too and he helped him? And why is it a big deal every time you help them they're lost? Those times when Dean was paralysed or something, and you saved him from getting killed by monsters.

After hunts, after saying goodbye to Sam, you'd drive yourself far, far away from the Winchester brothers. Well, more like far away from Dean. But still, it’s like fate is bringing you back together no matter how far you run.

Sam and Dean knows you're an omega. They know a scent of an omega who puts on too much suppressants to hide themselves from drawing unwanted alphas. Neither of the Winchesters are bothered with your scent, good thing. Plus, they have worked with a few others omega hunters and they have worked with you on tons of cases, to know you. One of the reasons that you stayed with them once in a while is because they have never approached you the way other alphas did... That’s comforting enough for you as an omega.

Though being a hunter as an omega is not easy. You had to ask permission from your pack Alpha to let you wander around by yourself most of the time. Your pack Alpha cares about you a lot. When he finally decided to approve your request, he did put one condition: that is to wear a silver bracelet that your pack Alpha asked magician to put a spell on. The silver bracelet won’t harm you, but will protect you. You cannot take it off until you found a mate and get pregnant.

It was heavy, but being an independent woman, you've never thought of finding a mate to yourself let alone get pregnant. Hence, you agreed to your Alpha's condition and started to wear the bracelet. It's been 7 years since the time you put it on.

You do not have a problem for the first few years until you met the Winchester brothers. After a few times of accidentally solving cases together, Dean had to accept that you're a good hunting partner so you often follow them go back to their bunker. Despite being cold towards you, Dean let you sleep at a pretty nice guest room they have in the bunker. But you believed Sam talked Dean to it.

Often every night, you, Sam and Dean would sit together at the table and read through the books to find answers about mythical creatures that aren't myth; or about angels and gods and demigods and whatnot. One night, your bracelet gleamed, catching Dean’s attention, in which, it sparked his interest.

“Hey, nice bracelet," he said while looking at your wrist.

You quickly retreated your hand, hiding it from his view. You looked at him warily.

"Wait, is that silver?" he continued. His eyebrows furrows.

"N-No," you answered doubtfully. You did not know why you're defensive about your bracelet as if Dean is going to steal it from you.

Dean smirked. "Come on!" he said. "I know I'm not the smartest person in the room, but I'm not a fool." He laughed. "Where did you get that? It seems powerful enough not to weaken you. Is it fake silver or something? I suddenly want one."

"Uhm." You gulped. But then you faked yawn. "I'm going to sleep now. It's been a long day," you said while stretching up before standing up to retreat yourself to your room.

"What? Hey, we're not done yet!"

"Later, loser!" You gave Dean a peace sign while your back is facing him.

You really don't want to tell him about the bracelet. Now that you're older, it felt funny to talk about the spell your Alpha put on your bracelet. Because now that you're older, you realise that you want a family. You want an Alpha to yourself. You want to get pregnant. You’re suddenly mad at your pack Alpha for putting that stupid curse on your bracelet.

You locked your room door, just in case. This bunker is full of alphas and one omega. If anything happens, you're on you own.

Neither Sam nor Dean asked you about your bracelet again after that night. Sam respects you, but Dean is another story. To Dean, he knows that you won't be around all the time and he figured that if he is important enough, you'd tell. But if he’s not....so he ignored about your bracelet even though he is still curious.

Three nights at the bunker without going out because all three of you were busy solving a case, you finally found an answer. Once you and Sam found out how to kill a demon and Dean showed the strategy, three of you began moving. According to plan, you will be on the look out, fight and kill demons who get in your way, and be a backup. Meanwhile Sam and Dean go in and kill. You argued with Dean how it is dangerous for him and Sam to fight possibly 20 demons alone, but he insisted. At least, if they died, they do not have anyone to go back to. You clearly have your Alpha and your pack.

After 2 three hours on the look out, you managed to kill 3 demons with your custom made holy water bullets. You rogered Sam and Dean. You got feedback for a few times, until one moment where everyone is silent. The surrounding isn’t helping either because it suddenly went creepily quiet.

"Sam?" you spoke through your earbuds calling for one of the brothers. "Are you okay there? Do you need me to go in?"

Sam didn’t reply, unfortunately.

You started to feel edgy.

"Dean? Dean, can you hear me? Do you guys need me in there?"

The silence continued.

While you're worrying about Sam and Dean, while focusing on communicating with them, feeling edgy and frustrated, one thing you didn't realise is how you transmitted your scent and it become sharp. After years of knowing Dean, there's a different kind of worry you had towards him. It came from your heart. Maybe that triggers it.

Suddenly, you heard a loud growl behind you. You gasped. Your heart drummed inside your ears as the fast footsteps approaching you like lightning. In the dark, you saw a pair of angry bright yellow eyes preying you.

Instinctively, you run. You run as fast as you can from your chaser. From his scent, you know that he's an alpha. A familiar one, but through the daze, you cannot figure out whose scent it is. You did not know where he came from, but you're genuinely scared of him. All these times, you being a hunter, didn't even faze with other alphas, but tonight changed. He scared you to death.

The Alpha growled louder. "Stop!" he shouted. "(Y/n), stop running!"

Wait, do I know him? You wondered.

"Stop, (y/n)! It's me! It's Dean!" he said.

"No!" you shouted back. Seriously? When you're being chased by an alpha without warning, even though he claimed that he is someone you knew, you won't stop to believe.

You heard another frustrating growl from behind you before he jumped and launch towards you causing you both to fall, entangled on the ground with him on top of your back.

"Stop it, please!" he cried.

"NO!" you said through your greeted teeth, struggling to free yourself from his firm grip. "I won't!"

"Don't! My- inner- alpha- gets excited- if you run! (Y/N)!" he shouted your name at your ear causing you to startle to a stop. "I'm Dean. Please trust me."

You're panting on the ground. You felt the person's hot breath behind your neck and you shivered. After a while, when he didn't feel you struggling, he slowly lose his grip on you. He let you free, taking a space from you. You got up as well.

You slowly turned to look at the person as if a sudden move will cause you get be pinned again. His height. His hair. The shadow of his eyes. "Dean?"

"I'm sorry," he quickly apologised. "I don't know what triggered me. I- uh- Your scent. It’s.... it's driving me mad." He shook his head. His nose flared as he smells you from the distance you put between you and Dean. His heart raced in his chest.

"Maybe you've got the wrong person," you said, trying to deny Dean. You're on suppressants. Both the pill and the spray blockers. You were told that after years of taking them, your body might be immune with it that you won't give out your original sweet omega scent (although you're still taking them now for precautions).

"No. I believe I don't." Dean was so sure of himself.

You went quiet, do not know what to say or do. For the time ever, Dean is not yelling at you or arguing with you or complaining about you. He looks almost like he is admitting to you. That surprised you. You do not have any words to say.

Dean stared at you. "I-I hope this isn't so much to ask, but can I scent you?"

You quickly shook your head.

"Please, (y/n). Help me calm down. Please," he begged.

Yes, you can see that Dean is struggling. After a quick thinking, you agreed. You let Dean approached you and let him scented you.

"Haa." Dean sighed, putting him at ease.

It's been a few days of finding out that you're Dean's mate. You seriously do not know how it happened because you honestly didn't smell different on Dean. It's like the suppressants work opposite on you rather than on other omegas who can smell their mate, but not their mate to theirs. You're not comfortable sleeping with Dean, but that's the least you can do for him to calm himself down. It seems that every night he gets nightmares.

Good thing Dean didn't push you as well. Oh, except one thing.

"So, care to tell me how that bracelet of yours work?" he asked. "It doesn't hurt you at all, but it hurt me and Sam. And I believe it hurt many shifters, too."

You looked down to your bracelet, contemplating.

"Come on, (y/n). What's there to hide from me?"

"Well, if you want to know," you started.

You began telling Dean about it. How you wanted to be an independent omega and that your pack Alpha made you wear that cursed bracelet. You told him you weren't thinking properly back then. You wanted to be on your own so bad that you agreed to his term, but now, it started to feel funny.

"I need to breed you to break the curse," Dean more likely to state rather than asking. "You clearly made the wrong decision because you make me feel challenged, (y/n)."

You shivered. You didn't like to ear that from Dean. Somehow, it sounded scary because you know how an alpha could act when challenged.

“Did your pack Alpha mark you?”

You gasped sharply. “NO!” You glared at Dean. “I’m not marked. And I’ve never- never did that....that thing.”

Dean raised his eyebrows. “Your heats?”

“Suppressants. Pills. Everything that could help me get distracted.”

“No wonder,” Dean said.

"(Y/n)?" Dean called softly, getting you out of the trance. He sighed, sensing your stress. "Look, don't worry about it, okay? I won't go rough on you. We'll try to break it from time to time, alright?"

You nodded your head weakly, understood.

It has been 6 years since you and Dean mated. You stopped taking your meds. You decided that it’s time to let your body work naturally. Of course, there were uneven heats, falling sick, imbalance hormones, you hated Dean without a reason and Dean ignored you for a few weeks, not understanding your emotions. Good thing you have Sam to talk to.

You and Dean continued to try to break your cursed silver bracelet. Dean would knot you when you're in heat. You'd let him knot you when he's in rut. Hell, you both even tried when you're in heat and Dean's in rut. However, it's still not working.

You started to feel down and giving up, sometimes. Not only because you can't break the curse but because you cannot get pregnant and give Dean an heir. You've talked to your pack Alpha to break the spell, but he said he cannot do anything. A curse is a curse. It's like it's promised and you have to fulfill it to break the curse.

You and Dean tried again last night since you're on your heat. Like always, you will wake quite later than Dean after having sex. Dean is already in the kitchen with Sam to prepare for lunch when you entered with your hair still a mess. You took a seat beside Dean and leaned into him.

Dean sighed in contempt, feeling your body against his. "Are you okay there, sweetheart? Did I go too hard on you last night?"

Hearing that, Sam snorted. He really didn't want to hear his brother's sex life.

"No. I'm just tired. Thinking too much," you mumbled through his neck. "Wish I could cuddle with you all day."

"I wish the same," Dean said. "But I gotta work, baby. Sam and I had that negotiation thing going on this afternoon. You want to join us?" It's not that you don't know that they're on a case.

You shook your head. "I feel like my body is changing from the inside for some reason." You sighed and you stretched your back and your neck. "It hurts everywhere and no, it's not because of you."

"Okay, then. You should get some rest. You've been working hard these days," Dean said softly as he caressed your back, knowing that helps you to soothe the pain.

You really do not know what's happening to your body. Neither sitting nor standing nor stretching nor even laying down on your back, soothed the pain. Every where hurts including your head. You felt dizzy and nausea from time to time, but didn't make you vomit, though.

You didn't have any appetite. You only make yourself a cup of hot green tea just to take down the nausea a little. Sometimes, you take the protein bar. You only ate them half way before putting it back inside the fridge. Then, you ate Dean's bacon. And still, you only ate two strips before putting the rest back to where it belonged.

You spend your time alone in Dean's room. Cuddling with his clothes while watching the TV. His clothes doesn't do much, but enough to make yourself calm and less dizzy. The nausea also slim down. Somewhere in the middle of watching a kid chasing a dog, you fell asleep and only to be woken up by Dean shaking you hours later.

"(Y/n)? Hey." Dean scratched the back of his head. His forehead is in million wrinkles, but his lips. They're a form of a smile.

"Dean. Hey, you're back." Your throw yourself at Dean and he quickly caught you and hugged you. You scented Dean, feeling your heartbeat calming down. "Ah. This is nice." Dean knows that that is your way of telling him that you missed you.

"Feeling better?"

You sighed with your eye closed. Now that you can scent Dean rather than his clone.

"Uhm, (y/n)?"

"Mhm?"

“Open your eyes.”

Slowly, Dean brought your broken cursed silver bracelet to your eyes, showing it to you. You frowned, didn't understand. You looked up at Dean with a questioning look. Seems that you're still in daze from your nap and your sickness.

"Sweetheart, your bracelet is detached from your wrist."

"Huh?" was your first reaction. But then, "Wait! My- wrist is free?" You beamed. "Oh my God! Yes! I'm free!" You cheered, laughing and giggling to yourself over the fact that you're no longer bound a magic spell - a decision that reminded you how stupid you were.

You turned to look at Dean, but he is not celebrating with you. "Dean? What's wrong?"

"No. I-I just-"

"Hey, what's wrong?" You asked Dean softly, looking at him in the eyes, worried. Did I say something wrong?

That's when you felt Dean's hand, the one that is hugging you from behind, rested on your stomach. "Oh!"

"Yeap!" Dean slowly smiled.

"Oh my God, Dean! I'm-" Your hands ran over Dean's hand that's on your stomach.

Dean grinned when he saw you excited as well. "Yeap!" Dean chuckled. "Yes, baby, you're pregnant! We're having a pup!"

"Oh, Dean!" Your eyes started to water as you cupped Dean's face. "I'm really sorry I didn't- I was too happy with that bracelet, but then you-"

"Hey, hey, shh, it's okay," Dean said softly. His free hand thumbed your lips. Your silver bracelet is somewhere in the room, forgotten. "I love you."

You smiled before kissing Dean.

I'm devastated to report the third death among my operatives.

Alex Khaldi was one of my first, and favourite recruits. He was a 61-year-old housing advisor from Homs, in Syria. The British Government suspected him of being a foreign spy, and had his visa revoked in 2020.

He was my main combat-focused character for quite a while.

He died trying to recruit an Albion whistleblower into Dedsec. Same guy that Brad Yohannes died trying to recruit. And for the exact same reason:

Clan Kelley ambush. Caught between to groups. One came up behind him, and that was it.

I'm tempted to write off this guy, Orson Benett, and his scheme to steal Clan Kelley's ill-gotten protection money as a wash. But two of my people have died for this mission. I don't want it to be for nothing.

To add something else, the big thing that makes me think the writers could've confirmed Ryan/Min or that Lake is trans is that they've posted official "fanart" shipping Mace and Sieve. Also just another observation, but seeing characters we know personally die in agony, is generally much worse for the audience then seeing minor or unsympathetic characters die. I'm also not someone who thinks "he just had their 18th birthday, his underage status is revoked now".

Also to be clear, I think what pushed "kids show" too far with Simon's death wasn't him dying in and of of itself, but it being rendered as violence porn you'd see at the end of the not G rated Raiders of the Lost ark. Even when rendering violence, you need to consider how much the audience wants to see a character suffer and if kids will empathize with that character (indeed Kyle Mccarley got sent children's drawings of Simon).

they have?? that's news to me lol. where is it? a lot of its implication in this specific discussion does depend on context too. was it a storyboard artist's doodles (aka someone who wouldn't be involved in the writer's room) or owen dennis'? because sometimes people who work on a show, especially people who aren't involved with the direct writing process, will draw fanart for the show and it's just that - fanart. khion yohann is a pretty famous ducktales fantartist and she's an animator for the show. this isn't to say i don't think mace/sieve should be canon (from a representation standpoint, not my own personal views), just that it's not exactly comparable to two main characters kissing onscreen or something.

i really don't understand the point you're trying to make here or how it relates to the representation discussion, sorry. (have we just moved on from that?) i'm not sure what underage characters has to do with it either but i do agree with you there. i think it was just meant to be disturbing and shocking? also simon is... he's a sympathetic character for sure, but he's closer to a [warning] story than someone you're supposed to empathize with. sympathize, maybe. at least not at the scene where he dies. although it's not up to either me or the crew to dictate how anyone is supposed to interpret the show. i agree with you on the familiar/unfamiliar characters point, and i think that's exactly what the crew intended when they wrote simon's death! at the start of book 3, grace and simon are both in the same place development wise. the difference is grace gets better while simon actively chooses to get worse, making them foils of each other. a very complex and well-executed storyline, although i agree it does get quite dark. it's really sweet that his va got kids' drawings though!

idk if its too early in the story to ask this but what elements or plot points did you want to into obt that never made the cut

- Malachi having a crush on Rune (cut because I changed their ages from being a year apart to making Rune about 8-10 years older than him)

- Rune staying mute and learning sign language from Dielle (a cute idea still! But I wasn't experienced enough with art and storytelling to pull off drawing gestures or commit to learning a new language myself, and I preferred having Rune speak)

- Yohann is much less present in the current story than I originally planned :( this may change in the future still, but I originally wanted him to come on the expedition before he was swapped out with Eilwyn.

- Some recruits were trimmed even though I really liked them! A Snubbull, Beautifly, and Girafarig were all recruits that I enjoyed using, but might not have room for in the comic outside of cameos. Maybe they'll still show up someday? A bit unlikely at this point though, the gang is pretty well established.

- Not a part of the main comic, but I sometimes wish Dielle's Wish could've been expanded on more! The way Mateo was written felt a bit on-the-nose, but digging deeper would require a lot more time to establish everything, which wouldn't be achievable in under 50 pages.

- Since Maelstrom doesn't have a physical body, I tend to... forget to write dialogue for her. This will work to my advantage soon though, for secret reasons.

- And not exactly cut content, but I'm still not the hugest fan of chapters 1-3, even with the rewrites. It was a bumpy path trying to figure out everything I needed to for the comic as I went, and these were the chapters that needed the most establishment in worldbuilding. Having a solid explanation for what a mystery dungeon is, the relationship between exploration teams and wild pokemon, or how aura works, I think could've helped streamline my writing later where I try picking up the slack. Live and learn though, I don't have any plans to redo the early comic again.

What are some of your Steve x Red Skull headcannons? If you don't mind me asking ❤

Oh no!! I’m about to get exposed on my main tumblr!! Ahh, fuck it xD

For those who don’t know, I’m a Red America shipper(Captain America x Red Skull) and I regret nothing.

Now onto the many headcanons I have!

-I imagine it all started similarly to the fanfic by Rockofmarduk: The Right Partner. That is 34 chapters of beautiful writing(some spelling mistakes, like they spelt Yohann instead of Johann. No one is perfect though), wonderful scenes, and it’s just glorious. So check it out if you’re interested-

Now, the whole love story probably began like that. In my little marvel universe in my head, Red Skull doesn’t yeet off to Vormir, he froze with Steve and both got revived around the same time. So, they probably were still doing their thing; Skull all like “The world will belong to Hydra!” And Steve all “Not today, you bastard!”

But over the course of... idk, Skull starts getting obsessed and hell bent over learning everything about his foe. Learns all his moves, tried to find out about his past, who his allies are, everything. Why? To destroy him, of course! However, he eventually starts sort of missing the Captain when they aren’t fighting and was all like, “... If he worked for Hydra.. I would win completely. Two super soldiers in one army, the other under my control-.. Zola, time to start project: Captain Hydra!” And so the fun begins! Now, time for couple headcanons;

Red Skull hates all of Steve’s friends. He just does! Especially Bruce(that’s an inside joke with friends) Steve’s friends don’t like Johann, nor trust him. They honestly don’t understand why Steve loves that monster, but Steve is still trying to process why he does. So, he desperately talks to both parties, and tries to make them get along.

The sit fucking cute on the couch, it’s weird poses, but they’re cute. Bucky will see them weirdly sitting together, and be like; “... What are you doing?-“ “wE’RE BEING CUTE, BUCKY-“ Steve calls back, almost offended. It’s ridiculous.

Skull is the romantic one in the relationship!! He is, Steve lacks knowledge about so much, and Skull just seems so wise to him. He likes to whisk Steve off his feet with gifts, dinners, wine, flattery, he loves spoiling his eagle(nickname from The Right Partner That Skull have to Steve, I love it) Skull even has the balls to flatter Steve in front of his friends, and most of his Hydra soldiers. They’re dating in the current year, so whoever is homophobic, Skull easily kills them off. He doesn’t have time for that shit.

Steve wants Johann to reconsider his goals, and tries time and time again to talk them over with him. Johann listens, but simply can not comprehend that; they’re not gods and the world doesn’t belong to them. Steve loves Skull’s determination and dedication. His work ethic is impressive, and yet he still takes time for Steve. However, he doesn’t want the world to feel the wrath of “The Red Skull” and Steve wish he could just.. Talk to him. Schmidt loves Rogers’ leadership, his courage and spirit, though he wish the American would stop holding onto this false sense of humanity and learn to embrace the god he is. It’s all very difficult to deal with.

The two are precious, but only have a few big issues. Schmidt wanting to rule the world and Steve wanting to protect it. Schmidt wanting Steve all to himself, and Steve wanting his friends to still be his friends. Schmidt wanting Steve to eventually become part of Hydra, and Steve refusing every attempt at the conversion. They still manage to have a wonderful relationship, and do constantly address the issues. Slowly making progress!!

Johann keeps every drawing of Steve’s safe and Steve adores that so much. He praises his lover’s art, and constantly talks about how much he loves the arts. Once, he accidentally revealed how he has the ability to sing, and Steve lost it. Steve bugged him for awhile, until Johann gave in and sang along to a song, in German. He only sings and German. Steve loves it.

Skull is so insecure about what he’s become. Sure, he embraces it, but Steve still catches him looking at himself in the mirror in disgust. So, Steve made it his mission to constantly tell Schmidt how beautiful he thinks his Skull is, and how much he loves his red, warm as hell skin. It’s a hard pill to swallow for Skull, but he slowly gets used to Steve kissing him and complimenting him.

Steve at first wanted to save Skull’s humanity, and still believes he can. He accidentally fell in love with him during the process, but it’s still his mission.

The two always need to be touching. Skull has a hand on Steve’s back, Steve holding onto Skull’s arm, Skull carrying Steve. Always need to be touching.

Skull constantly tells Steve how much he looks like a god and is beautiful, yet gets slightly put off whenever Steve tells Johann how handsome and attractive he is. Skull honestly can’t believe “Erskine’s finer work” finds him the least bit attractive.

Steve can’t do a lot the Skull can; Skull can sing, dance, throw romantic dinners, and love Steve in public so easily. Steve still gets flustered when Skull holds his hand in front of the friends.

They defend each other with every fiber of their being. Skull easily gets rialed up when Steve is insulted or even looked at. He threatens everyone in the room and the jealousy and protectiveness steam off him. Steve, takes a lot to piss him off. However, with his friends constantly bad mouthing Johann, Steve snaps and raises his voice at them. “You don’t know him like I do! He’s not the monster you all think he is! He loves me and I can’t believe my own friends won’t give him a chance!!” They hate to make Steve, a sweetheart, so upset and angry. Sometimes after these breakouts, Steve doesn’t talk to them for days. He’d much rather be with Johann, who takes off all the stress and loves him for who he is.

Bucky is the only friend who is trying to support Steve’s weird decision.

Skull is the one who thinks about a possible marriage, and it throws him off for the entire day.

Zola doesn’t understand Schmidt’s decision, but gets a kick out of embarrassing Skull whenever he can. It either ends well or terribly. Still fun though.

Skull and Steve have surprisingly deep conversations at times. Normally Steve asks a question, and Johann goes on a rant. These last hours, and they quite enjoy them.

The two just want to be as close as possible, and together forever. Steve loves with Johann, but in an attempt to make Steve happy, Johann let’s Steve’s friends visit whenever they like. Though, he hates Tony’s nickname for him(“Hows it going, cherry bomb?”)

Skull still has anger issues, and my god the littlest things piss him off. Steve is there to hug him and calm him down, and he almost cries because Skull looks so cute when he’s trying to control his anger. Steve loves how hard he tries, and just helps him as much as he can.

Cuddles, cuddles are required.

Ghirmai Kidane (Wedi Filipo): A multi-talented artist and a political activist

When you listen to the masterpiece song, ‘Abbay Abbashawel’, the first thing that comes to your mind may be the name, Alamin Abdullatif, who sang the song. When you listen to songs on the radio or TV in our country or Ethiopia we are told about the singer only. All the credit goes to the singer.  Listen to a song in Sudanese and the Arab world media, they tell first about the song writer, then the music composer and last comes the singer; a culture that appreciates all the contributions. Abbay Abbashawel, among other songs, was written and its music composed by Wedi Filipo. Girmai Kidane is not only a song writer, a musician but a political activist, too. This note which is based on an interview with him, sheds light through various milestones not only his life, but on the role of Eritrean artists on political activism. He was born almost 72 years ago on 19.06.1942. His father, Kidane Abraha Gangoul was born in Segeneiti and his mother Leteberhan Zere Yohannes was born in Kor Barya. His father died mysteriously in 1959, in the Imperial Palace and he says that was on orders from Emperor Haile Sellasie. His family was denied the corpse. He says a living witness that this event took place is the former Ethiopian President, Girmai Woldeghiorgis, who used to work as a security agent in Eritrea during Haile Sellasie’s rule. In 1953, he was the only Eritrean (black) is his batch who was studying in an Italian school. By 1959, he run errands for members of the Eritrean Liberation Movement (ELM)- Mahber Shewate- which he later joined and he participated on their initiative of forming the organization that promoted Eritrean culture and traditions. Some of the colleagues in the ELM, he worked with include Seid Beshir (Gesir), Gilay Girmai, Haile Woldemichael (Haile Gebha), Kiros Yacob (Kiros tzatze). He indicates that by 1960, members of the ELM wanted to break the monopoly of foreigners in musical bands and to mobilize the people against Ethiopian occupation and so initiated a competition on Eritrean songs through  a theater group called ‘Mahber Tewaseoo Degebat’ and Tewolde Redda’s song ‘Asmeretey’ won the first prize. But the organization was later banned by followers of the Unionist Party. Among the persons he was acquainted with in that group were Tekle Adhanom (Tekle huwket), Yohannes Gebrekidan (Gozano) and the Tigrait singer, Jabir Mahmoud. He states that the famous Eritrean Musical group, Asmara Theatrical Group, ‘Mahber Teater Asmra’  was formed in 1961 in a meeting in ‘Piazza Mikele’ in the tea shop of Idris and later of Kahsay Michael. He mentions that as he was involved with the ELM in mobilizing the members of the Police and the public and was to participate in the Police Orchestra, he did not participate in the formation of ‘Mahber Teater Asmra’  but he contributed through song writing and by giving advice. The other side of Tedla Ogbit and the Police Orchestra Girmai recalls that when Brigadier General Tedla Ogbit, the Eritrean Police Chief, fell off with the Ethiopians he planned a coup d’etat. As the ELM was recruiting members of the Police, Tedla Ogbit was approached by Berhanu Ahmeddin and Haj Imam Musa. The importance of establishing the Police Orchestra was found to be important and so Tedla Ogbit formed the Police Orchestra on December 1962 to mobilize the people against Ethiopia and Wedi Filipo was one of those recruited in the Orchestra. Among those who were recruited were also Ali Mohmed (Ya Assina), Younis Ibrahim, Negash Tekie, Mohamed Burhan Atta, Kiflom Abbay and others. He recalls that Tedla Ogbit used to come regularly to Sembel to follow up the rehearsals of the band. Among the songs that were prepared for the agitation were the following: -       Greetings from the Police Orchestra – group song-       Adaliyuni (help me find…)                  - Younis Ibrahim-       Yiaekel (enough is enough)                - group song-       Sesinu  (flourish)                                 - group songThose songs started to be aired on radio ‘Voice of Asmara’ that was owned by Cavallieri Mohamed. As the radio was broadcast through loud speakers at the grain market, ‘Idaga Ikhli’, those songs were well received by the public. On June 6, 1963, around 4 pm, while he was in a café (in front of Bar Autisti) with Martyr Ibrahim Abdulrahman and Alamin Siraj Omer, two policemen approached him  and told me to go to Sembel and deliver his police belongings to the Sembel police station. He left his friends and went to the place where he used to meet General Tedla Ogbit. Tedla told me it was his order. He told Wedi Filipo that the zero hour where the anti-Ethiopia plans would be executed was approaching and he did not want Girmai to bear any responsibility. Tedla told him if his plans failed, he was going to take responsibility for it alone. If the coup succeeded then they would meet again. When Tedla Ogbit was killed by the Ethiopians, Wedi Filipo was arrested on June 1963 and taken for interrogation at the police headquarters at AGIP. Present at his interrogation were: the new police chief who was promoted to Brigadier General after Tedla’s death, Zere Mariam Azazi; the deputy of Zere Mariam, Colonel Erdatchew, Colonel Reta Demege (who according to Wedi Filipo led the special unit who came to kill Tedla Ogbit from Addis), and Colonel Mohamed Saleh. He was accused of being involved in the Tedla Ogbit revolt. Wedi Filipo recalls clarifying that he came regularly to Tedla’s office to ask for resignation. His explanation was supported by Zere Mariam Azazi and due to that he was not arrested. He was later told to go to Addis to join a musical group. Others from the police Orchestra who were accused to be involved with Tedla Ogbit and sent to Addis were: from the singers, Ali Mohmed (Ya Assina), Younis Ibrahim, Negash Tekie, Mohamed Burhan Atta, Kiflom Abbay and from the musicians Habtemichael Gebremichael, Figadu Andemichael, Yemane Yohannes, and Alto. When they arrived at Kolfe, they were told they were under arrest. They stayed there for six months. Gradually they were allowed to go to Addis for limited hours where he was able to meet some Eritrean political activists there, among them were Tekle Gebremichael (Tekle Eisenhower) who owned a hotel and Ibrahim Suleiman who was gatekeeper of Football Club Zula and later of Red Sea (Morosso). When they were released in February 1964, he returned back to Asmara. Being aware of the role of music in political agitation, he was encouraged in 1964 by Berhanu Ahmeddin and the then music teacher (who was blind), Umberto Barboy to recruit young singers to the service of the Eritrean revolution. They used the student scout shows at Comboni, Prince Mekonen school, Itige Memen School. Among the new singers were Tekle tesfazghi, Haile Gebru and Yemane Gebermichael (Baria). To cover up his political activities and to be able to gather information and to recruit young Eritreans, he served in the Naval Base Band (there were Eritrean recruits there) as well as in the 2nd Army’s Musical Band. He also played with European musicians in Asmara and was a member of the musical band, ‘Boys’. He recalls it was difficult to be recruited to the Navy from Eritrea as one was checked thoroughly so he was advised to travel to Addis and to get recruited from as the headquarters of the navy was there. He was told to meet some Eritrean activists there who had good relations with the Commander of the Ethiopian navy then, Iskander Desta. Some of those who helped him with recruitment were Tekie Tesfay Kibrom and Biniam Kiflemariam Squar. As he was specifically recruited to form a musical band for the navy, the Massawa administration of the Navy accepted that and around March 1965, a musical band for the navy was established. He recalls that one day he was invited for lunch by Commander Mekonen Abraha (uncle of Isaias Afworki) and Commander Hailemelekot Gebrewold where he was introduced to martyr Ibrahim Affa and were since then friends. He states that his mission at the navy was to create awareness and recruit Eritreans to the national cause. The Ethiopian security used to censure all the songs and he says we used various means to distract them. They used metaphor and also used to sing famous Amharic songs during the theatrical shows. In 1971, he initiated contacts with the PLF faction that was stationed near Dekemare area and was advised to go to Italy to establish contacts based on his former links to Italians. He did as he was advised and in 1972, he was linked to former ELM members in Germany. By 1974, he realized that that EPLF was not going in the right direction and started to air his views to that effect. After liberation, 1991 he realized that the EPLF leadership harbors hidden agenda and has since been opposing the regime, actively. I hope this note will generate discussion about the role of the political activism of artists then. I hope some will contribute to add or correct information presented here.
