forever annoyed at the lack of non-woven jedi garments. excuse you, fibrecraft is the basis of society. where are they getting their cloth from? are they weaving it themselves? are they spinning it themselves? where is the knitwear. you cannot tell me that there are no sweaters in the jedi order. there are probably hideous sweaters made from fourteen different colours of yarn because they're made from the wool leftover from other projects. all of the colours manage to clash. and embroidery is just too good for teaching patience. hand-sewing in general is good and meditative.
these people are going to be darning their own socks, patching holes in their robes. they are going to have needles and thread in their survival kits and know how to hold the cloth tension just right with the force so they can re-weave the bigger holes by using tiny, straight sticks to hold the warp in place.
#keeping up with the skywalkers#the togruta jedi clearly have a tradition of leather-work. look at shaak ti & ahsoka#you can pry sifo-dyas embroidered his own robes & dooku's out of my cold dead hands#lene kostana knits. mace windu likes taking thin strips of metal and creating metallic thread in the old wrapping way.#padawans make stuffed animals for the youngest of the crèchelings - the new arrivals & force-infuse them with comforting thoughts#yoda spins the weirdest tree fibres. anakin knows how to patch ANYTHING and delights in using the most incongruous material to do so.#saesee tiin makes very sturdy baskets to hold his starfighter's tools in.

Chapter 34: Check
Yoda placed a gentle three-clawed hand on her knee. "Young one, listen to me," he said. She nodded and looked at him with emerald eyes that shone with tears. Yoda saw Grim as she really was and had been for months, a lost child who was searching for guidance. "Always in motion the future is. Know this well you do, changed things before you have."
"And what if that wasn't enough? What if the ending stays the same?" Grim asked him. "I made a promise to you and all the others on the Council, if I fail-"
"Keep that promise you still do,"Yoda replied. "Save everyone you can not, save everyone your promise was not. Save as many lives as possible you said, save as many lives as possible is what a Jedi does. Let go of your fear you must, alone you are not. Saved lives already you have. Forget this do you?"
Grim smiled and wrapped her arms around Yoda. "Thank you, Master Yoda. I needed to hear that. I won't fail you."
"Here for you I am, little one. Alone you are not."

I saw a post mentioning Ahsoka was originally assigned to Obi-Wan and Iâm like ??? Like, yes Obi-Wan asked for a new padawan but the first thing Ahsoka says as she arrives is that she was assigned to Anakin
Edit: if you donât want to read the tags: I rewatched the scenes from the movies and itâs said several times she was assigned to Anakin by Yoda himself and at the end itâs implied Obi-Wan helped. She was never assigned to Obi-Wan.
#I can't claim that it wasn't a mistake from the order (I think that's what Obi-Wan or Anakin say at one point#but I can't recall if they did)#and there are at least two other possible interpretations that are:#that Obi-Wan says he asked for a padawan but it was a ruse to assign one to Anakin#or that even if Obi-Wan asked for a padawan Yoda assigned her to Anakin anyways#And I think that the movie says something like Obi-Wan will take over her training once Anakin decides he doesn't want a padawan#before he changes his mind and takes her#like I get it you like the Obi-Wan & Ahsoka dynamics#You like to think they were actually much closer than what we see in canon#or you don't like Anakin as a character and so you push him aside at any chance you get#but going from that to affirm she was originally assigned to Obi-Wan hun I think you're projecting your hc#REWATCHED THE SCENE JUST NOW#And Anakin is the one that says it must have been a mistake because he didn't want a padawan#Ahsoka insists Yoda assigned her to ANAKIN#(also Obi-Wan has been pestering Anakin about becoming a teacher)#AND THEN after Anakin accepts Ahsoka and they meet with Obi-Wan and Yoda#Yoda says that Obi-Wan was telling him about Anakin having trouble with his new padawan#So yup I think we can discard the mistake option from above#Yoda assigned her to Anakin and Anakin only#and suggested reassigning her to Obi-Wan when he heard that Anakin was hesitating#And after that is all said and done Obi-Wan teases Anakin about teaching her (Teach her everything I taught you)#And Anakin says something makes me think this was YOUR idea from the start#so the scene implies Obi-Wan requested the padawan for Anakin but it's never confirmed#so yeah she was never assigned to Obi-Wan to begin with#play with your aus all you want but don't sell it as if it were actually canon#fandom salt#personal

Got emotional thinking about jedi lineages.Â
Like. Maybe Ahsoka ties her obis in double knots because thatâs how Anakin taught her. He told her it helped them stay on better.
But Anakin does it because thatâs how Obi-Wan helped him, the first time he wore the robes that seemed impossibly heavy, with the weight of his new life.
But Obi-Wan only tied it like that because he had seen Qui-Gon do the same, and had desperately wanted to be perfect, so copied his master.
But Qui-Gon only did it out of habit- of all the rules of decorum that Dooku taught him that he ignored, the obi knot had stuck.
But Dooku had been trained by the greatest master of them all, so assumed however Yoda tied his robes was the most correct.
But maybe that is all because, centuries ago, a master whose name the rest of them will never know, taught his tiny padawan to double knot his obis, because they just never fit right.
And Ahsoka will never know that she got this from a jedi who lived in a totally different world from her, who she never knew and would never know her, but the legacies are there, no matter how small. And I bet every lineage has a handful of them.
I just... the jedi leave behind their blood ancestors, but they still have things running in their families.

Oh this is way better than what I imagined!
Totally not side eyeing people who said I was wrong and Vernestra wouldnât throw Sol under the bus or (probably) cover up the âdeathâ of her padawan, Qimirđ
Qimir is immediately trying to hold hands and Osha looks like sheâs gonna learn just enough tricks to kill him
Plagueis! Plagueis!
Maeâs memory gets restored by like, Yoda, halfway through next season, guaranteed. Just enough time for Osha to get deep into the dark side (and Qimir to get deep into Osha đ)
The entire time Sol is dying, Qimirâs whole expression is âshe found a new answer to my riddle! Sometimes the student teaches me!â
Oh, Qimir is down bad for her, Plagueis is probably going to try to just replace Qimir with Osha, since heâs probably going to view that as weakness
Did Oshaâs eyes briefly turn red when she took that helmet off?
Also, I love that she turned off the comms so Qimir couldnât talk to her at all on the way to Brendok. This is on her terms and I love that for her. This will make his odd little courtship that much more interesting since she will absolutely be picking and choosing how close she allows him to get. Also, itâs just funny as hell. New favorite moment from this season unlocked, right behind Bazil kwon do.
We still donât know if Qimir is actually his name. I would put a large amount of monopoly money on him literally trying to make out with her, Osha asking his name, him saying something stupid like âcall me masterâ and she just gets up and walks away like, âIâm outâ

One of the reasons that the headcanon that Qui-Gon "repudiated" Feemor post-Xanatos really bothers me is that the characterization we get of Qui-Gon really lends itself more to the idea that he might've CLUNG to Feemor rather than pushed him away. There's zero indication that Qui-Gon has cut off all contact with the people he had relationships with prior to Xanatos (Yoda, Mace, Tahl) and one of the reasons he's so disinclined to take a new apprentice is the fear that he'll make the same mistakes he did with Xanatos and cause their fall. But if he has a whole other apprentice that he WAS successful with, wouldn't he instead cling to that proof that he's not actually a failure? Even just as a comfort?
I propose an AU where Qui-Gon actually ends up partnering with Feemor post-Xanatos in order to always have that comfort nearby. Feemor wants Qui-Gon to get back into the saddle of teaching but knows Qui-Gon well enough to understand that throwing him into that saddle won't go well for anybody, so he decides on a trickier plan and takes a Padawan of his own (his first Padawan since he became a Knight) and ask for Qui-Gon's assistance. Since Qui-Gon is partnering with him, it's inevitable that they'd end up basically sharing the responsibility of teaching any Padawan that Feemor takes, but Feemor intentionally makes sure Qui-Gon knows that he's nervous about it and will want his Master's guidance.
So instead of becoming Qui-Gon's Padawan, Obi-Wan ends up becoming FEEMOR'S Padawan. Qui-Gon sees right through all of this of course, but he can't really do anything about it and he doesn't really mind helping Feemor with a Padawan the way he would if he had sole responsibility. He bonds with Obi-Wan relatively easily and the three of them become an incredible team.
And then you can get real angsty with it and say that Feemor died before the events of TPM, so Qui-Gon obviously took over Obi-Wan's apprenticeship on his own afterwards.

Why you don't prank the Guard commanders
Since they are almost constantly tired and at the end of their rope, anything could set them over the edge and no one wants that
not only that but they will usually react very strongly because of their extenuating circumstances and it is often blown out of proportions
HOWEVER, the other battalions don't know that and just want to help their brothers have fun! what's wrong with that
THIRE:
Thire got off a three day mission with General Yoda that ends up with Thire covered in some giant monsters stomach fluids and snot
He had to sit in it for a ten hour ride back and is humilated, with Yoda attempting to comfort him which only makes it worse
On his way back to the HQ, some troopers from the 104th decided to hit a guard with fake slime, a funny little prank
When Thire is at the end of his rope, he goes for violence
Thire waltzes into the mess, calls out whoever pranked him, and proceeded to dress them down, chew them up, and spit them out in front of everyone in the entire mess (made up of a few battalions and some Padawan Commanders)
It boiled down to 'you morons, i will kill you, you tiny roaches are nothing to me and i will throw you in the trash compactor like the disgusting garbage you are' with much more colorful and degrading language thrown in
Many now fear Thire and Wolffe outright refuses to work with the man out of fear
STONE:
Stone had just stopped three prison riots, captured two escapees from said riots, updated the entire security system, and hadn't slept because of the previous items for four days
Some men from Kit Fisto's SCUBA battalion thought it would be funny to hide some of Stone's stuff that was in his office (ie, datapads, pens, etc) and moved his stuff three inches to any side
Stone, who usually just jumped onto the coach in his office with the lights off, missed the middle and went to far up and smacked his nose on the wooden arm of the couch and cracked a tooth
This was not a fun way to cap the last four days
He found the troopers and filled their SCUBA tubes with spiders for them to find when they shipped out. Too bad the spiders crawled onto their faces on the ship and not in the water :(
THORN:
Thorn had been assissting senators for three full days with only 5 hours of sleep while standing throughout meetings
He had been ready to sleep and was heading to his last meeting with General Kenobi and some of his troopers present
Wooley and Longshot decided to lighten the mood by setting their voice coders to a different language and telling him he was going crazy
They also removed the nonslip pads from the couch and it slid out from underneath him
This may not have been bad at all but after three days, every little thing is annoying as shit and exhausting
After that meeting, Thorn decides to take revenge
Thorn is a believer in you get what you give so he does something harmless
relatively harmless
He sneaks onto the 212th barracks on the ship and places a speaker into the vents of the barracks, above Wooley and Longshots bunks (as close as he could get, the sound reverbs so everyone is pretty mad about this prank)
Every so often, in random intervals (no more than 4 hours, no less than 1 hours) a beep would sound, not too loud but loud enough to be annoying after 2 days
At night, it gets louder and more frequent and quieter during the day
Many troopers lose sleep over finding the thing (Thorn literally unscrewed wall panels to hide it), its been 3 weeks and they arrive at their new battle field in a week
Four days before their arrival, as the speaker is about to die, in the middle of the night, the speaker goes to full volume and shouts 'THIS IS COMMANDER THORN. I MAY BE THE CAUSE OF YOUR SLEEPLESSNESS BUT LONGSHOT AND WOOLEY STARTED THIS. I WILL DO IT AGAIN ASSHOLES. THE SPEAKER IS GOING TO DIE SO ENJOY YOUR *TEMPORARY* FREEDOM. HAHHAHAHAHAH-' and then the speaker dies (Thorn hacked the cameras and enjoys playing the screaming arguments and shouts at the speaker during rough days)
Longshot and Wooley never hear the end of it
FOX:
Fox had been going through hell the entire week and he was ready to kill someone, even though his shift wasn't over yet.
Jesse, Fives, and Hardcase had decided to help Fox lighten up by shooting him with silly string throughout the day, switching armor with blank armor to keep hidden
Fox was paranoid and had to be sedated. He eventually tracked down the three and had his revenge not through their own annoyance
At first, he replaced their weapons with modified silly guns that quickly ended, leading them to believe they were free (the whole revenge lasted an hour ish as the three enjoyed playing with the silly string)
Unknown to them, Rex's entire room had been filled with silly string, his blasters, the padding in his matress, the drawers in his dress, the hair wash was liquid silly string, the soap was frozen strong, his pillow, his chair was broken then 'welded' back together with silly string and fell apart when he sat on it, etc.
He kept finding it and it lasted for days, the moment he thought it was over, more string came up. He was paranoid, everything was silly string
When he finally complained to the command chat, Fox told him that Jesse, Hardcase, and Fives caused it and that he overheard them planning it
When Rex punished them, they said they never did anything with silly string but many others saw them spraying each other with the silly string FOX pranked them with so everyone assumed they were messing with the leftovers from Rex's prank. Not only that but they weren't quiet about pranking Fox so everyone thought he was the warm up for Rex.
No matter what they said, Rex didn't believe a word and they were stuck on latrine duty for a whole month
When Rex found out about Fox getting pranked as well, Rex let them get punished by him too
Fox made them clean out all the massiff kennels and play areas, cleaning any stains from the puppies and getting used for bite practice by the adults everyday for their next leave.
Fox came by and watched them everyday, laughing at their misery
HOUND:
Hound loves pranks and jokes and will happily engage and laugh at them
however, the timing has to be right and most don't get that part (only the other ARF troopers know)
Some troopers from the 41st took his bed sheets and pillows and blankets and towels after some of his troopers and Hound ended a four hour chase through the sewers (they didn't know about the chase).
Hound normally would've thought this was hilarious but after spending two hours covered in sewage looking for towels around HQ just to shower, he was pretty mad
After cleaning up and ready for bed, he snuck into the 41st barracks and woke them up with a growling, snarling grizzer leaning over their face and a hand over their mouth.
He whispered, 'don't scream, you touch my shit again, I will end you and everyone you love.'
Rinse and repeat then he sneaks away

FRIENDLY FIRE ââââ i.
summary: after landing on the umbaran surface, you butt heads with your fellow generalbut get along swimmingly with your temporary clone captain.
pairing: captain rex x female jedi!reader
word count: 3.9k
warnings: combat/action, mentions of injury + death, krell being a bitch, reader with a name instead of y/n because i hate it
a/n: itâs back!!! previously i posted this series on my main, @brrmian, but i changed that blogâs username and have mostly shifted over to fanart and general SW content. iâve decided to dedicate this new side blogâs content entirely to fic writing under my old username, posting reader insert on here and everything else on ao3! this fic will be updated sparsely but definitely more often than it was on my main. iâve changed a few things regarding the plot of this series specifically, and i like it a lot more now!!

You hadnât wanted to leave the Temple behindâyou still donât, even lightyears away from the Core.
When the Jedi Council had first made you aware of the plan to have you and a Master youâd never met capture an Umbaran airbase with troops that were not your own, you had put up something of a fight. What right, you demanded, did the Chancellor have the right to simply pull a Jedi from their sacred duty for a trivial air-to-ground assault?
The Council had either not wanted to answer this question or had not known how to, so now you stand on a transport gunship with two clone troopers and an intimidatingly tall Besalisk Jedi Master by the name of Pong Krell. Both of you are holding onto the grab handles hanging from the ceiling; youâre gripping the handle so tightly your knuckles are slightly pale, but Krell looks perfectly steady.
Of course he is, you think bitterly. He has four arms.
The atmosphere of Umbara is breathable but strangely thickâfog seeps through the blast door openings, and the lights inside the gunshipâs passenger bay seem to have dimmed. Your lightsabers bump against your hips and you wince slightly as sounds of frantic gunfire reach your ears.
This will be your first campaign.
You have seen death before, on missions as a Padawan before the warâbut never on this scale, if the reports of your already-knighted friends from the Temple are anything to go by. You only hope that you will be assigned your own battalion soon, so you donât have to go running around replacing wayward Generals.
Itâs hard, standing at the side of an imposing Master, not to feel like a Padawan. The skin behind your right ear burns with the memory of the braid that had been there just last week, waiting to be sheared off as you prepared for your ascension to Knighthood.
While your battalion assignment is pending, Master Windu told you as you stood in the center of the Council Chamber, the Senate has requested that we send two Jedi Knights to replace Skywalker on Umbara.
Master Krell is already on-world, assisting Master Kenobi, but he will need another Jediâs help if he and the 501st are to take the capital in Skywalkerâs stead, Master Plo explained, his hologram flickering as he called in from some faraway world.
All due respect, Masters, you remember asking as you willed yourself not to tremble, but why me? Iâve never been anywhere near the front. I wouldnât be much help.
Believe in your potential, we do, Master Yoda said. An opportunity for you to do good, the Force has given you.
And that, it was decided, was that.
Even now, after meditating on your anxiety for practically the entire journey through hyperspace, your nerves feel impossibly frayed. The transport jostles, but you only sway slightly, arm already holding onto an overhead handle for balance. Thereâs a shiny new military-issue commlink attached to your right vambrace. A morbid thought, of calling in a medevac for injured soldiers with this very communicator, crosses your mindâbut you let it dissipate.
The gunship suddenly makes a sharp dive, and your stomach swoopsâyou must be about to land. You spare a glance at General Krell, who has now let go of the grab handles and has crossed all four of his arms over his chest. For a moment, youâre almost tempted to ask how he manages to stay so balanced while the ship is moving, but then the blast doors slide open and the gunship lands in shadowy darkness.
The first person you see is Anakin Skywalker. Heâs around your age, maybe a bit youngerâdespite having been knighted several years earlier, as one of the first Padawan victims of the Jedi Military Integration Act. Your Master, ever traditional even when the Order began to stray from its centuries-old teachings, did her best to keep you apprenticed for as long as possible, but even that eventually proved futile.
In the end, you and Anakin are practically of the same age, and yet he has infinite more experience than you. Uncertainty wheedles its way into your chest and slips a pin into your lungs; youâre holding your breath as you follow Krell off the gunship.
Being far shorter than the Besalisk, you have to jump down. When you hit the ground, you shiver at the misty atmosphere, watching as bioluminescent specks of dust fly up underneath your boots.
As the two of you approach, you hear the troopers of the 501st legion mutter amongst themselves, but you push it aside and focus on the pleasantries.
âGeneral Krell. General Neridian,â Anakin says, smiling graciously. âMy thanks for the air support.â
âIndeed, General Skywalker,â Krell replies, bowing politely. âThe locals have proven to be more resourceful than we anticipated.â
âWe managed to get here in one piece, though,â you add jokingly, and Anakin smirks, his eyes twinkling. You gesture to the troopers unloading the gunship behind you. âAnd we brought ration resupplies.â
Anakin nods appreciatively, then raises one eyebrow after a moment, looking slightly confused. âButâthatâs not the reason for your visit.â
âNo,â Krell admits. âThe Council has ordered you back to Coruscant, effective immediately.â
âWhat?â Skywalker demands. âWh-why?â
âThe Chancellor...â you pause, searching for a word, before you settle on, âinsisted that you return. The Council had no say on the matter.â
âThat is all they would tell us,â Krell adds, though he doesnât sound displeased.
âWell, IâI canât just leave my men!â Anakin protests, and for the first time you notice the trooper standing at attention beside him.
Heâs identical to all the clones youâve met, of course, except for one detailâhis hair is blond. You wonder vaguely if it would be polite to ask him whether or not itâs natural as you survey his armor. The pauldron on his left shoulder indicates a position of command, but he carries a sense of individuality in the Force that, despite your inexperience with working with them, youâve come to realize every clone has. His helmet is painted with a distinctly Mandalorian sigil, but itâs not one you recognize.
His gaze is pointed directly ahead; he makes no eye contact with you. Probably just as annoyed at the change of plans as Anakin is, you realize.
Krell moves to speak, jolting you from your thoughts. You recognize Anakinâs agitation, however, so you calmly move to intercept.
âThe Council would not just leave your troopers to fend for themselvesânot that they arenât perfectly capable of doing so, of course,â you add, which merits the barest hint of a smile from the trooper standing beside Anakin. âItâs just⌠well, the Senate needs a Jedi to be at the head of every campaign, and I guess they figured subtracting one of you would meanââ
ââadding two other Jedi,â Anakin says with a snort of derision. âYeah⌠sounds like the Senate. But you guysâll probably get it done faster anyway.â
âDonât worry about a thing, sir,â interjects the trooper, and Anakin looks to him. âWeâll have this city under control by the time youâre back.â
âGenerals, this is Captain Rex, my first in command,â Anakin says fondly, and you see something like pride show itself in Rexâs eyes. âYou wonât find a finer or more loyal trooper anywhere.â
âI donât doubt it,â you affirm earnestly.
âYes, that is good to hear,â Krell agrees, then places a large hand on Anakinâs shoulder. âI wish you well, Skywalker.â
Anakin simply nods at him, then stops beside you and says, âI hear you passed the Trials.â
You gesture to your hair, now void of a Padawan braid. âApparently so,â you reply. âFunny, I didnât think you were one to get swept into the rumour mill.â
A grin, boyish and bright, springs to Anakinâs face. âNah, Iâm always one for good gossip.â His expression turns softer, then, and he puts a hand on your shoulder. âSeriously, though⌠congratulations.â
âThank you,â you say, but heâs already approaching the gunship and taking hold of one of the grab handles. The ship is off within seconds, and you canât help but feel apprehensive as it flies away, up into the fog.
Taking a moment to gather yourself, you turn to Rex and offer a polite nod. He returns it, then says, âIt is an honour to be serving with you, Generals.â
âThe honour is all mine,â you return graciously, and Rex looks like heâs about to say something else, but stops when Krell begins to speak.
âI find it very interesting, Captain, that you are able to recognize the value of honour,â he begins, thenâalmost as an afterthoughtâadds, âfor a clone.â
Silence.
Your eyebrows shoot up, and as Rex stares at Krell in shock, you feel your armored chest tightenâwith frustration or shock, you donât yet know.
âStand at attention when I address you,â Krell snaps, turning to face the other troopers, and as Rex obliges, you narrow your eyes and step forward.
âMaster Krell,â you start, your jaw tightening, âI do believe it would be far more... prudent to show respect to the soldiers who have so graciously agreed to undertake this mission with us.â You tilt your head questioningly, sending your ponytail swaying. âAfter allâwe are the ones who just arrived.â
A ripple of white-hot anger moves through the Force with lightning speed, but itâs gone before you can take time to process it. Now, all you can feel is something akin to gratitude, trickling like a cool waterfall from where Rex stands, back straight and eyes ahead.
âThey agreed to nothing,â Krell counters, and you blink as his wide upper lip curls back to reveal a row of dangerously sharp teeth. âDo not forget, young one, that we are the Generals they serve under at present.â
âI...â you pause, momentarily at a loss for words, then clasp your hands behind your back and force your jaw to unclench. âI havenât forgotten that. But I also havenât forgotten that the only way to succeed in this endeavour is to work together.â
âAnd with what experience do you so kindly bestow this advice upon us, Knight Neridian?â Krell asks, and the question is like a bucket of ice water down the back of your robes.
You swallow, and search for the words to say, but none come. Cheeks burning with shame, you stare determinedly at the ground.
The tension in Krellâs Force signature disappears, as sudden as the crack of a whip, and he draws in a deep breath. You look up as the pouch-like piece of flesh under Krellâs chin grows in size and he begins to pace.
âNevertheless,â Krell brushes off, acting as though none of your words register with him, âthereâs a reason my command is so effective, and itâs because I do things by the book.â He walks past a soldier in an ARC Trooper uniform who has the number five tattooed on his right temple. The trooper doesnât move as Krell passes him, but you can see a vein on his forehead bulge.
âAnd that includes protocol,â Krell puts in. He turns to you. âHave all platoons ready to move out immediately.â
You bristle. âIâI thought we were to make decisions together,â you protest, raising your chin defiantly.
Technically, thereâs nothing to defy, seeing as you hold equal rank with Krellâbut the Council specified in their briefing that this was supposed to be a learning experience, an introduction to combat before receiving your own battalion. And something about Master Krell demands respect, or at the very least obedience, despite the fact that youâre starting to want to do everything you can not to give it to him.
Krell simply huffs and turns around, his yellow eyes flashing, and walks away, leaving you surrounded by a platoon troopers.
You frown after him. âWell, now I know why Master Venn wished me good luck,â you mutter, mostly to yourself. Some of the troopers snicker, but you hardly notice.
Your former master, Esya Venn, had pulled you aside just before leaving. The look on her face had been nothing short of concerned, but youâd shrugged it off in the moment, even when sheâd told you to be careful, Padawan. She never told anyone to be carefulâit was simply a reflex to think twice about your actions around Esya.
But now you understand.
Scrubbing a hand over your tired face, you take a deep breath and turn to Captain Rex. âShall we set off?â you ask, and he nods, promptly putting on his helmet.
âMove out, soldiers!â he shouts, starting down the path after Krell. âCome on, letâs go!â
You give Rex a grateful smile, and though you canât see his face, you know heâs returning it. With one last glance at the battalion, you hurry to the front and fall into step next to General Krell.
Itâs silent for some time. Krell doesnât deter, no matter how dark it gets, and after a while you begin to grow uncomfortable next to him. The anger youâd felt in the Force earlier is dormant, but certainly there, and it makes chills erupt down your spine.
"Iâm going to check on the Captain,â you say, and Krell only nods when you turn around and quickly find Rex, whoâs walking about two meters behind where you previously were.
The Captain salutes briefly. âGeneral.â
âCaptain,â you reply politely, before glancing back at Krell. âI canât help but notice that thereâsââ you pause for a moment. Do these troopers know enough about the Force to have conversations with you about it?
Knowing Anakin, you realize, they probably do, so you clear your throat and continue. âI get a strange feeling from Master Krell,â you say quietly.
Rexâs shoulders relax just slightly. âHow so, sir?â
You bite your lip and shake your head. âI donât know, exactly,â you reply, then gesture vaguely in front of you, where Krell is half-visible in the murky fog. âThe Force around him is unclear. Itâs... hard to explain.â
âHard to explain, as in itâs a Jedi thing?â Rex guesses, and you grin widely.
âYes,â you say. âItâs a Jedi thing.â Reaching up, you curl a loose strand of hair behind your ear.
âI may not be a Jedi, sir,â Rex says after a moment, âbut I think I know what you mean by strange feeling.â
âQuicken that pace, battalion!â Krell suddenly shouts over his shoulder, and you jump. âThis isnât some training course on Kamino.â
You sigh and raise your voice, turning to the troopers. âWhat General Krell means,â you call, pointedly shooting a glare at the Besalikâs back, âis that we must continue to make good time. Keep up the good work.â
Krell gives no answer, but you feel a ripple of frustration coming from his direction. Thereâs another thread in the Force, one of gratitude, but you canât tell where exactly itâs coming from. You latch onto it nonetheless and file the feeling away for later, letting yourself make an easy pace just ahead of Rex.
âHe certainly has a way with words,â you hear one of the clones say, and when you glance behind you out of the corner of your eye, you can see that the source is someone with similar armor to Rexâs. Another ARC, or someone of similar rank.
Thereâs a sigh. You think itâs from Rex. The troopers obviously donât know youâre listening, so you direct your gaze ahead, keeping your pace steady.
âHeâs just trying to keep us on schedule,â Rex explains, voice hushed and sounding a bit sheepish.
"By raising everyoneâs ire?â the other trooper grumbles.
âEither way, heâs in charge,â Rex protests. âAnd weâve got a job to do.â
âSheâs in charge, too,â hisses the trooper, and you purse your lips, knowing heâs pointing to you.
Another sigh, again from Rex. âJustâtreat them both with respect, and weâll all get along fine.â
Youâre about to turn around when your neck stiffens. Itâs an instinctual reaction, like the Force tapping you on the shoulderâone that youâve learned to interpret as a warning. Less than a second later, a loud screech echoes above your head.
âReady your weapons!â Rex shouts, at the same moment you draw one lightsaber.
Faster than your eyes can process, a winged creature swoops down and grabs a trooperâbut you donât need your eyes. The cyan beam of your lightsaber casts a glow on the shadowy ground, and you jump upwards, landing on a large plant that allows you to swing from a vine and graze the blade across the wing of one of the creatures. It falls to the ground with another screech before flying away, relatively unharmed.
One to go.
Youâre about to grab hold of a second vine and swing towards the other creature, but a flash of blurred blue and green makes you pull backâKrell beats you to it, landing on top of the creature and wrestling it to the ground.
âWaitâstop!â you shout as he draws his lightsabers, but itâs too late. Heâs already skewered the creature mercilessly, and it lies dead on the ground, life blinking out of the Force in an instant.
You jump off of the large plant, landing on both feet, and hook your now deactivated lightsaber onto your belt. âWhy did you kill it?â you demand, pushing past several onlooking clones.
âIt is nothing more than a violent inhabitant of this area,â Krell dismisses, and you feel your jaw drop.
âButâŚâ you start, at a loss for words. âThe Code decreesââ
âThe Code,â Krell says coldly as he turns to stare at you, âallows for self defense.â
You draw yourself up to your full height, switching off your lightsaber with a snap-hiss before hooking it back onto your belt. âThatâs not whatââ
Krellâs lightsabers deactivate loudly, cutting you off, and he returns them to either side of his belt before turning away and continuing on the path. âAnyone else want to stop and play with the animals?â
No one answers, but you feel your fists clench as if of their own accord.
This is going to be a long night.
Umbaraâs plant life is fascinating. Observing the bioluminescent life forms is the only thing that serves a proper distraction from both the grumbling clone troopers and the pit of apprehension in your stomach. Youâd been walking for twelve hours, give or take, and every time youâd tried to suggest a break to Krell, heâd snapped at you.
This canât be allowed, you think bitterly, skipping over a glowing pink tree root, boots skidding on the dark purple ground.
You chew on your bottom lip and glance at the clones behind you. They are understandably worn out, and even with the extensive survival training Master Esya drilled into you as a Padawan, you were starting to get tired, too.
âSir,â says a voice from behind you, and you jump, expecting in your exhaustion to see Krellâbut itâs just Rex.
âWeâve been keeping this pace for almost half a rotation,â Rex points out, sounding vaguely nervous. âThe men are... starting to tire. General Krell is...â he tilts his head, expressionless visor unreadable. âYou know.â
You muster a smile, hoping you look at least a little like Master Enya, and nod.
âI know, Captain,â you say, and he shifts slightly, as though his blue-painted pauldron is uncomfortable. You canât blame him. Running a hand over your ponytail, you blow out a breath and frown at the puff of air that appears in front of you. âLet me talk to him. Tell the men to start searching for a good spot to camp for a few hours.â
Out of the corner of your eye, you catch Rex giving an affirmative thumbs up to the troopers behind him, but by then youâre already approaching Krell, clasping your hands tightly behind your back.
âMaster Krell,â you start, and Krell turns his head just a bit. âIâve told the men to scout for a place to rest. I reviewed the mission plan on the way here, and we can spare three hours without being delayed, possibly moreââ
âThe men donât need rest,â Krell interrupts, and you feel your cheeks flush with anger. âThey need resolve to complete the task at hand.â
âApologies, Master,â you say, squaring your shoulders as frustration heats your neck and face. You breathe deeply. There is no emotion, only peace. âBut I donât think the men will be on their best game when we reach the capital if they donât take some time to gather themselves.â
âThat they need to âgather themselvesâ is a sign of weakness,â Krell cuts in, stopping and turning to face you with a sneer. âThat is not what these clones were bred for.â
Not far away, many of the soldiers bristle at Krellâs choice of words, but you keep your focus on the yellow eyes staring you down for the second time that night.
âThey werenât bred to be mindless droids, either,â you argue, crossing your arms over your chest and making sure to keep your voice even. âAnd in case youâve forgotten, even battle droids need to recharge. If we march on the Capital without any sort of break first, I promise you, this mission will not go as planned. Exhausted and underfed soldiers are a guaranteed disadvantage.â
Krell studies you, a sneer forming on his lips. âI see you take after your Masterâs incessant need to get the last word on anyone she disagrees with.â
You scowl. âI beg your pardon, but Master Venn isââ
He ignores you, cutting past where you stand and walking away. âDo what you wish, Neridian,â he dismisses, then walks away to stand by a glowing tree.
A sigh escapes your lips, and you close your eyes. Itâs becoming harder and harder not to snap at himâbut you know what the Orderâs teachings require of you. Emotion, yet peace.
You grimace as Krell retreats to the back of the line, then turn back to the troopers nearby and give Rex a nod. The captain returns it in what you hope is a grateful manner, then calls for the men to make camp at the top of the ridge your group has been climbing.
By the time you gather all the troopers together, the battalion has put together a hasty campsite, with half the troopers having fallen into a fitful sleep and the other half keeping watch while eating as many rations as the limit allows. You frown and approach the trooper you heard Rex talking to earlier, his Force signature familiar from when you were eavesdropping. His helmet is now sitting in his lap, being meticulously cleaned with what little supplies the battalion has on hand.
You study the soldier. He has a tattoo on his right temple, and upon studying it, you realize itâs the same ARC trooper whoâd been glaring at Krell when you stepped off the gunship. You wonder what significance the number five has to him.
Taking another step forward, you clear your throat. âTrooper,â you begin, and the soldier looks up curiously before abruptly shooting to his feet and snapping off a salute. You wave a nonchalant hand. âNo need for that. I only wanted to ask a favorâcan you gather troopers to stand watch? Six at a time, tops, and make sure they take turns so everyone can rest. That includes you.â
âYou got it, sir,â says the trooper, and you smile.
âSorry, I donât believe I caught your name...â you say, then, and the trooper blinks.
âOh, uhâitâs Fives, sir.â
âI see,â you reply, gaze flickering to his tattoo and back again. âThank you, Fives.â
You retreat to your own tent soon after, shrugging off your vambraces and arranging them neatly next to your bedroll. This wouldnât be the shortest sleep cycle youâd had, what with the nature of your apprenticeship at the templeâbut not the longest, either.
From what you can hear inside your tent, the camp is silent. Slowly, you poke your head through the canvas flaps to find exactly six menâas youâd requestedâsitting in the center of camp. Farther away, at the outskirts of the circle of tents, sits Master Krellâs hulking form. In spite of yourself, you frown.
âGeneral?â asks a sudden voice above you; letting out an involuntary yelp, you scramble backwards before stopping at the sight of Rex standing near the entrance to your tent.
Embarrassed, you stand up, brushing off your cream-coloured robes. âSorry,â you say sheepishly. âI could swear Iâm not usually so jumpy, I donât know whatââ you look up and stop short.
Rex has removed his helmet.
His blond hair isnât a surprise this time around, but close up, youâre struck by how tired he looks. There are smile lines at the corners of his eyes, but his face is cast in exhausted shadows.
You wonder if a full nightâs sleep is something heâs ever had, or if the training regiments on Kamino prepared him and his brothers for this kind of halfhearted sleep cycle. Curiously, you study him.
Rexâs eyes are golden-brown in the dying light of this shadowy planet. Theyâre the same shade as all the troopers in the immediate vicinity. And yet, as you stare into them, something in you stirs as your Force signature brushes against hisâsomething you know youâre not supposed to feel.
âEr, General,â Rex repeats, jolting you from your faraway thoughts. âI just wanted to let you knowâthe scouts are detecting a clear journey from here on out. We have approximately four hours to kick back, as predicted.â
Hurriedly, you turn away and clear your throat awkwardly. âVery good, Captain,â you mumble. âThank you. Youâreâerm, free to go and rest.â
For a moment, Rex looks surprised, but he composes himself seconds later. âThank you, General,â he says. âBut Iââ
âNot up for debate,â you interrupt, holding your hand up. Bemused, Rex blinks, so you shoot him a reassuring smile. âYou said it yourself: the soldiers need rest. Youâre a soldier, yes?â
Rex opens his mouth, probably to say something about him being a Captain, but you lower your hand to rest it on his shoulder. The kind gesture seems to quell him, so you continue. âDonât exclude yourself in that. Rest well, Captain.â
When you turn and reenter your tent, you donât catch the way Rexâs eyes linger on the closed flap for far longer than they should, heat prickling up his neck as the remnant of your touch burns itself through his pauldron.
âYou too⌠General.â

I've been a little slow on getting out new STAR WARS fic recs out, but in my defense it's because I've been reading a bunch of longer fics lately. In the spirit of "there's a special feeling to those fics that consume you and make you stay up until 3am because you can't put them down", here's a list of some of the ones I've loved or am in the middle of reading and they are haunting my thoughts and I need to inflict that on everyone else. Whether you're looking at a long upcoming trip and need some good reading material or avoiding your feelings by sinking into fic or just because you like reading, I hope you'll find something here! Including a bonus underrunning theme of throwing in a bunch of Jedi-loving fic to continue my agenda of making Jedi-centric fandom a more fun place to be. 30k+ is the minimum and this isn't all of my favorites, but it's a great list of "I have a week off to kill and I want to be in a fic coma by the end of it".
STAR WARS FIC FOR WHEN YOU NEED TO KILL ABOUT TEN HOURS WORTH OF TIME AND WANT TO HAVE FEELINGS ABOUT FICTIONAL PSYCHIC SPACE WIZARDS WHILE YOU'RE AT IT:
⌠Out with Lanterns by SkyeBean, mace & ahsoka & plo & shaak & cast, 312.5k    In another universe, Jedi Masters Plo Koon and Depa Billaba decide a Padawan could do Mace some good. It takes a while, but he eventually agrees. When he takes Ahsoka Tano as his Padawan, Mace knows that he's broken through a Shatterpoint and changed the course of a life. How, he doesn't know. ⌠Reprise by Elfpen, obi-wan & qui-gon & mace & yoda & anakin & cast, time travel, 558.9k wip    Ben Kenobi dies aboard the Death Star in the year 0 BBY. He wakes up shortly thereafter in the Jedi temple in the year 41 BBY. Haunted by memories and regret, Ben must forge a new path for himself in the Jedi Order of his youth while navigating the murky waters of time travel. Crafting a better future from bitter experience is hard, but learning to heal is even harder. ⌠Take it from the top and try again by mauvera, obi-wan & qui-gon & anakin & padme & mace & shmi & dooku & cast, time travel, 112k wip    Five years into his self imposed exile on Tattooine, Obi-Wan Kenobi is gifted the chance to go back and bring hope back to the galaxy. With hindsight on his side, he fully intends to save his master, save his padawan, make some new and old friends again, prepare the Jedi for a war theyâll hopefully never see and begin to pull apart all the many tangled threads of the Sith Lordâs plans. Should be relatively easy. Right? ⌠Post Order 66 Exile AU by Livsy, obi-wan & anakin & cast, 46k    Alternatively: after a failed order 66, in which many Jedi still died but the Sith were defeated, an exiled warrior and a boy wander a distant planet and attempt to get along. ⌠Remedial Jedi Theology by MarbleGlove, obi-wan & anakin & jedi & cast, 51.3k    Let us consider the fact that the Jedi Order is a monastic religious organization based out of a temple, with five basic tenets of faith. ⌠Supreme Chancellor Obi-Wan Kenobi by stonefreeak, obi-wan & anakin & padme & yoda & palpatine & bail & dooku & mace & quinlan & vokara & ahsoka & cast, 124.5k wip    By an old Republic law, all members of the Jedi High Council are senators in the Galactic Senate, and can thus be voted in as chancellor. A Senator from a less prominent planet has had enough of Chancellor Palpatine's incompetence and calls for a Vote of No-Confidence and the installation of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. This one action becomes the catalyst that changes the direction of the galaxy. ⌠What We've Become by Vinyarie, vader & ahsoka & cast, 82k    Darth Vader and Ahsokaâs fight on Malachor takes a different path, and Ahsoka actually is able to save her master. Or rather, sheâs able to convince him to save himself. Diverges from canon in the last few minutes of Twilight of the Apprentice and goes increasingly AU from there.
⌠time to change the road you're on by wreckageofstars, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & luke & leia & han & ghost crew & cast, time travel, 93.6k wip    The end of the Clone War is near - the fall of the Republic even nearer. Anakin Skywalker, caught up in the events that lead to the rise of the Empire and the loss of everything he holds dear, finds himself sent nearly two decades into the future. Ahsoka Tano, still coming to painful terms with the true fate of her former master, is - not exactly happy to see him. But the Force works in mysterious ways - and the future is not nearly as set in stone as they've been lead to believe. Multi-chapter AU, Rise of the Empire/Rebels-era. ⌠narrower than a razor's edge by bereft_of_frogs, obi-wan & dooku & qui-gon & anakin & sidious & cast, 30.2k    Dooku tips his hand ten years earlier because he can't stand the thought of his former apprentice's murder, and that might just be enough to save everyone...if it doesn't get them all killed first. ⌠soften every edge by gigglesandfreckles, obi-wan & ahsoka (& anakin), major character death, 48.1k    "Rejoice!" the galaxy says, in the wake of war and the dawning of peace. "How?" Obi-Wan asks. "No," Ahsoka says. (or: Obi-Wan & Ahsoka learn to live on.) ⌠hunting toward heartstill by blackkat, mace/cody & plo & fives & shaak & obi-wan & anakin & rex & cast, 207.2k    Plo has an idea. Mace agrees, and everything snowballs right into hell from there. (Or: Mace and Cody get married in order to give the clones citizen status. Before they can focus on that, though, they're going to have to deal with ancient Sith artifacts, evil prophets, plots to overthrow the Supreme Chancellor, lost planets, monsters warped by Sith alchemy, inconvenient , and Darth Sidious turning his eye on a potential new apprentice. Just...not in that order.) ⌠Cataclasm by dendral, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & waxer & cast, 63.1k wip    For reasons unknown to all but himself, Obi-Wan Kenobi has left the Jedi Order in the midst of the Clone Wars, taking with him a single clone. Anakin Skywalker has been unofficially tasked by the Order to find Obi-Wan and bring him home. Unfortunately for Anakin, it seems his former master is always ten steps ahead of him. ⌠Unexpected Awakening (The Rewrite) by Rhiw, obi-wan & qui-gon & anakin & feemor & bruck & jango & cast, time travel, 135.1k wip    The life of General Kenobi is cut short at the hands of his Padawan, but the sight that greets his eyes upon awakening is not that of blinding light of the Force, but the Jedi Temple he knew when he was still a youth. As he struggles to understand the path laid out before him, Obi-Wan unwittingly captures the attention of a singularly unusual Temple Guard, and that of a reluctant Qui-Gon Jinn.
⌠Knightrise by deviantaccumulation, obi-wan & ahsoka & satine & yoda & cast, 89.4k wip    There is no battle on Mustafar or in Coruscant's senate building. Instead, a small but still alive Jedi Order rises from its ashes on Mandalore. ⌠Fire and Ice by Yesac, obi-wan & anakin & cast, 111.9k    Anakin wins the duel on Mustafar, but doesn't kill Obi-Wan. If so, what then? ⌠Better That a Millstone by Icarus_is_flying, obi-wan & luke & anakin & leia & cast, 86.7k    Vader discovers Luke and Obi-Wan on Tatooine when Luke is one year old and attempts to reclaim the family he threw away. They have their own ideas about how their future should play out. ⌠Bloodlines by KCKenobi, obi-wan & anakin & dooku, 35.8k    When an explosion traps them in the same doomed escape pod, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Dooku are stranded together on Tatooine. The goal is simple: cooperate long enough to survive, and not a second longer. But a shared past has a way of connecting the people we think we knowâand bloodlines run deep. [or: your classic family road trip across a desert planet, except your grandpa is, you know, a Sith Lord. And now he's sort of starting to bond with your Jedi dad. And that might be an issue.] ⌠When Darkness Seems to Hide This Place by IllyanaA, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & rex & cast, 136k wip    After killing three of the Jedi Order's best and brightest, Palpatine's fight with Jedi Master Mace Windu goes shorter than expected. Afraid he's lost his chance at recruiting a new apprentice, Sidious unleashes Order 66 across the galaxy, but, per their programming, the Clone Army is not to harm Anakin Skywalker. After witnessing the most painful loss he's ever experienced and injured at the hands of his captors, Anakin is ready to die like the rest of the Jedi, though not before getting his vengeance. ⌠Precipice by shadowsong26, obi-wan & anakin & padme & luke & leia & bail & ahsoka & rex & cast, 253.6k    An AU in which Anakin Skywalker does not follow Mace Windu and the others to Palpatineâs office after they leave to arrest the Chancellor. Events conspire to place Rex on the path of a new fate, one which will affect the future in ways not even the Jedi could foresee. Loyal to source material and characterizations. Canon-divergent. Starts between seasons 5 and 6 of TCW and explores Rexâs reaction to Fivesâ dying words and subsequent events building toward Order 66. Variety of canon characters. No ships. Very Ace and Aro. Strong focus on certain friendships (Rex and Cody, Jesse and Kix, etc) with those friendships playing major roles. Thematically about how the clones navigate loss, trauma, the concept of their enslavement, their identities, etc amongst the larger active plot threads. Content warnings for war-related PTSD, trauma, combat injuries, and all around war-related angst etc in later chapters. ⌠Life and What Comes After by Ibelin, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & padme & cast, 177.2k wip    Obi-Wan dies on Jabiim. Anakin blames himself, doesn't know how to go on and yet - he does. Maybe the Force rewards that kind of thing, or maybe he just gets lucky, but when a mission lands Anakin on a vaguely familiar planet, he gets a second chance to do what he knows he should have done in the first place: save his master. (And maybe a chance to save the galaxy, too.) ⌠Knight-Errant by zinjadu, anakin & ahsoka & obi-wan & padme & rex & jedi & clones, 315.8k    AU - The Jedi Who Knew Too Much. Rex decides to stay "in pursuit" of his Commander; he jumps. Now, with backup, Ahsoka navigates the lower levels and deals with Ventress. Meanwhile, Anakin takes the Order to task, finds a little more support, and things turn out a little differently for everyone. And this is just the beginning. ⌠the massive machinery of hope by Killbothtwins, obi-wan & qui-gon & anakin & shmi & jedi, time travel, 150.1k    After the end of the war with the Empire, Obi-Wan wakes up in his twelve-year old body. Now all he needs to do is convince everyone he's psychic, trick his Master into taking him on before he's sent to Bandomeer, redeem a few bad guys, and try not to have a nervous breakdown. Pretty easy. It's not like the Sith are lurking on the horizon, waiting to devour the Jedi Order.
⌠The Exchange by MissLearn, obi-wan & anakin & qui-gon & ahsoka & padme & cast, time travel/body swap, 120k    The Daughter has a bad day and it irrevocably changes the fate of the galaxy, twice over. Born into a crumbling and stagnant galaxy, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are faced with the greatest challenge of all: themselves. Obi-Wan likes rules and control. When the galaxy around him stops playing by the rules, what is a Jedi to do? Anakin needs rules and restraint. When the galaxy around him conspires to set him loose, what is his Master to do? Chapter 37: And A Million Voices Cried Out
The light called out to her over the darkness. There was so much more of the story left.
The story didn't have to end here. It reminded her.
She had failed. But a new hope would rise.
She wasn't going to die.
Grim swam upwards.
Reaching for the sun. For the light.
There were Jedi who survived. She would be one too.

Star Wars Fix-it: The Holonet Edition
The well-bribed algorithms of the Holonet should have relegated Tookruta1387âs clip to the tender hearts of a few friends. The days of spontaneous viral posts â without credits to grease the wheels â died not long after the rise of megacorps in the Republic. But the poster was either lucky or savvy enough to play the algorithms because âJedi Being Coldâ exploded. Screens, conversation, even news. And their post was just the start of a trendâŚ
âJedi Being Coldâ: An old transport ship, frost coating the inside of its windows. A corner swathed in a nest of robes. Within three padawans snuggle together, fast asleep. If they were cats theyâd be purring. One is purring despite a lack of feline attributes. A hand nudges them with a datastick, only for it to float away to a cloud of similar items.
âJedi Being Coldâ part 2: A snow-covered lake. One knight finishes sculpting a realistic snow tiger. Two others Force push each other like hocky pucks across the ice. One goes flying towards the statue. An expression of âoh crapâ. Incredible, Force- assisted acrobatics deftly avoids the sculpture but crashes right into the sculptor in a tangle of limbs, sending them skidding into a snow-bank. The third Jedi pokes their head into the many-limbed hole and gets snowballed for the trouble.
âJedi Stealing Childrenâ: A child at a slave auction. A robed figure swoops in like a hawk, slicing through chains with their lightsaber and ripping apart cages with the Force. The camera pans to one slaver Force shoved into a cage, clearly furious as the Jedi escapes with a whole crowd of people, many children.
âJedi Stealing Childrenâ becomes the title for 1287 pictures, clips and gifs before someone adjusts the algorithm. This makes them surprisingly hot commodities on the Dark Holo, especially the one with a Nautolan Master dramatically fleeing the capture attempts of a horde of children â ending in one dramatic arm reaching out as kids bury him
âJedi As Warmongersâ: A young Padawan, blood splattered, has a âdoes it get betterâ look on their trembling face as they stare up at their Master. The Master is even grimier and gorier as they gather their Padawan up with an âIâm sorry but noâ. The Padawan weeps and shakes, burying their face in their Masterâs robes, who has silent tears down their face. In the background is a war zone.
âJedi as Warmongers: part 2â Has war holomovie music playing in the background as the snap-thumm of a lightsaber echoes, vivid blue piercing the dark. The blade raises over something, is brought downâŚover a block of cheese and loaf of bread. The Jedi padawan gleefully declares: âGrilled Cheese for all!â The sound of sprinting footsteps is heard and a dramatic âNoooo,â from a Jedi Knight.
âJedi as Warmongers: part 3â: The music has switched to aftermath of war horror, the kitchen looks like a cheese atomic bomb hit. The children are cleaning up and one wipes cheese with bread and pops it in their mouth: âgrilled cheese for all!â An adult admonishes âYou spit that out right now thatâs not sanitary.â In the background the Jedi Knight is doing the same thing.
âJedi Showing Offâ Is Yodaâs contribution to this mess â which is just him going through an entire stack of photo-albums on his previous padawans. He opens the last book to Dooku the Padawan when Dooku the Master barges in: âStop this indignity immediately!â The camera shows an intense close-up of someoneâs palm. âWho even taught you how to operate holo-video? ââ feed cuts off.
âJedi Dignityâ: Feed resumes from a different perspective as Master Dooku â previous camera still in hand â gives Yoda and several other watching Jedi a lecture on appropriate Holonet-posting behavior. âNot appropriate baby photos are?â Yoda asks, a card-sharkâs spread of pictures with Dookuâs baby face. Dooku yanks them out of Yodaâs hands. âNot without m-the personâs permission!â Does a double-take. âAre you filming â?â Horrified glower. âMace you traitor!â Video abruptly cuts off. Permanently this time.
Not even algorithm adjustments â and there are clearly several â can stop that from becoming viral. âMace you traitor!â becomes slang for the latest generation. Mace himself rolls with it. Dooku attempts to entomb himself in the archives until this all blows over.
Actions may speak louder than words but memes speak loudest of all.

Tholme felt more than saw Quinlan flop down next to him, gangly limbs tucked under the robe with the foal grace of youth.
Quinlan looked thoughtfully across the expanse laid before them, his eyes darting to Tholme as he pursed his lips, brows lowering deliberately before raising them again.
Tholme felt his own frown deepen in curiosity, watching the same happening with Quinlanâs features.
âHumbling, isnât it,â he said after a moment, indicating the view in front of them.
Quinlan nodded solemnly. âIndeed, Master,â he replied in a too deep voice that cracked into an octave higher. Color flushed his cheeks and Tholme watched his padawan slump into himself. âI canât do it,â he coughed out, voice falling back into its usual timbre.
That was new. âWhat canât you do, dear padawan?â
âLook serious like you,â Quinlan complained with the slightest of whine Tholme would never point out. âMy whole face just⌠hurts! I have no idea how you manage it.â
The laugh cracked out of him wholly unintentional, fondness rushing through him, as Quinlan fell further into a pout. He nudged him with his shoulder, still smiling. âQuinlan, you have no face for frowning like this old man. Embrace the stars in your heart and let your face reflect them as you want, not as you think you should.â
âLike Master Yoda at Temple Bingo?â
âThat might be too much reflection,â he commented drily, watching the smile settle back where it belonged as Quinlan leaned against him.
