idk if it’s just me but the whole “which atla kid in the gaang is the most mature” debates can get redundant and kind of exhausting at times. they’re kids. they’re multifaceted characters. they’re mature in some departments and immature in others. they have their strengths and weaknesses. also they’re kids lol.

#listen this is a probably a nothing burger lmao I’m just deep in my thoughts about what it means to be mature #because when talking about the cast what type of maturity are we focusing on yknow?#is it emotional maturity? spiritual maturity? social? maturity when taking up certain roles such as leadership?#and everyone has a different idea of what it means to be mature even in personality #take a comedic relief/goofy character for example #some may say this character is immature because of their goofy behavior #others might point out that being a jokester and taking the role of comedic relief doesn’t mean said character is immature #maybe my frustration just stems from people trying to assign parental roles to these tweens/teens lol #which I feel like can be an interesting conversation if we’re discussing #the traumas of losing a parent(s) at a young age and being forced to take up so much responsibility due to circumstances #but idk usually I see a lot of these conversations go sideways I guess #my conclusion #they’re just kids man they shouldn’t be fighting a war #they should be at the after school program #get aang to the computer lab now and make him a webkinz account #atla #text

1 she is literally just transgender. like textually. stanley and i have joked about how its kind of written in the "cowards way" in that shes just a reincarnation that is basically a cis woman but considering this show came out in 2016 and the fact that there's like never any weird jokes about her gender i think this is like the best possible outcome. she has a few moments where she brings up like her old life and never really seems to think much of her weird little trans circumstances. casually talks about women she loved and theres never any jokes like "AHAAA but i am a girl nowww" or whatever. someone once wrote an entire article about her and this whole thing much to my surprise (same person picks up on tchaikovsky's trans implications as well but i forget if thats in this article or another one on this site. i digress) its great

for some reason her being trans made her also become blonde. its funny putting the two designs side by side

2 this is my favorite screenshot of her

3 shes got a job as a pianist for a local bar or something of the sort. kind of just implied she does random gigs i think? anyway theres some cute art of her playing the piano about it

theres a few instances where shes shown playing in the show and i think each time they use piano renditions of actual franz liszt pieces so she's literally just playing her own songs for people without them really knowing.... very very cute little detail

tangentially she's also shown to have a bit of a thing for alcohol which is a trait really only shared with schubert (her orange friend) and it never comes up in the show but GOD i wish they had a little scene of them getting blasted together i know they would.

thinking about it this actually comes up with tchaikovsky who's not allowed to drink on account of being like 15 and the way she prevents her from drinking is simply by stealing any drinks from her and chugging them

4 ive made the comparison before of white woman isel but she literally. just is. she has an entire motif about love and romance and gets excited when people's relationships are weird and complicated in a very like. "oh i am here to observe a story that will entertain me" way. very much has a penchant for the theatrics. and all of this is kind of surface level so the fact i bring to the table is that each time she has a fun little fancy outfit she always corresponds it to like. some kind of stereotypical archetypal fictional setting. her magical girl outfit is pirate themed and there's an entire episode about her literally constructing a fake cowboy au of all her roommates in her mind where she's a badass sheriff who made a pact with the literal devil. charms me A LOT that she kind of terraces around schlocky fiction that's all about drama. it's a cute little parallel to freddy's own dependencies on creating dogshit comics

5 this is not so much a fact as much as it is simply an earnest recommendation but she has an entire episode about challenging a guy to a piano duel where she spends all her prep time just working out. i cannot say any more about it because its genuinely just better experienced outright. if youve got like 20 minutes to waste just dip into season 2 episode 10 its probably the best episode in the show from an objective point of view and its all about her and its all you need to see

#honestly theres not as many fun facts about her because shes literally just like. maybe the best written character #and all the exciting stuff about her is literal Plot stuff because shes not as much of a narrative waste of space as like #for example. freddy is. i love that guy but he does nothing so they had to compensate with a lot of fluff LOL #or like. not necessarily plot stuff but a lot of information about her is just like. genuinely well-expanded on that it doesnt so much #feel like an aside as much as it feels pertinent to her entire development. yknow. anyway. shes sooo cool. i watched this show for her.#ask

what kinds of physical traits do you think aplysias would have? for context they look a little different from other sea slugs/hares--like a thin crepe that got folded on itself and i have no idea how that would translate into a humanoid oc

id assume like flow with slight differences

#i dont think allll sea slugs are gonna look exactly the same since we know not even all inklings look exactly as all the player characters #but i think the general idea for most sea slugs would b mantle -hat like body part with the lil bunny ears and some sort of tail #and then yknow...diversity lol different mantle shapes/sizes heights colors hair lengths and since theres a canon sea slug character that #makes it much easier to come up w things to make them look different i think #aplysias body shapes arent super like out there which is why i dont think theyd look too different compared to a blue dragon for example #asks #anon #mydoodles

i think ive reached my limit of how many times i can handle people only being able to refer to marcille as a girlfailure

I will read the most inane and useless stuff for hours just for my own interest/enjoyment, but reading academic papers is like pulling a tooth 😭😭 like I genuinely think I'd find the info interesting but the fact that ik it's in pursuit of doing an assignment somehow manages to kills my motivation 100%

#step 1. you pick a research topic you find genuinely interesting #step 2. you have to research and read papers abour this topic. hey dont you remember you find this interesting??#i just remember going on deep dives learning about random historical figures #but absolutely god forbid i read anything in the pursuit of actual schoolwork #i think its mostly that i feel constantly under duresss when im reading it yknow?#all i can think is: im going to have to write something about this #lol just need someone i can blab to about politics and maybe it would actually work out for me #but ugh yeah theres just such a palpable difference btwn reading smth for enjoyment and reading something 'for work'#here is an example!#in my one class i think my prof put The Prince as a reading #i didnt even look cause im liek yeah i aint reading all of that #fast forward a year later: oh my god! i wanna read machiavelli so bad! i wanna feel intellectual 🥰🥰#literally bought myself a copy of it .....#i think im too self aware. id like to remove all sense of context from my brain #literally spent hours today watching documentaries that are actually pretty relevant to my one course #<- but note. they werent FOR my course. i was just doing ir for fun! i wanted to learn!!#but if i got assigned a hour and a half docu for class....that shit would not be getting done #ugh yeah anyways i have two research papers this sem #and its so fucking annoying bcs its so open to my choices. like here. you can pick smth you find genuinely interesting #and you guys literally witness me constantly learn info and want to apply it #but the thought of having to write a paper for school(god forbid) literally keeps me awake at night #its just yeah. wish i could remove that particular barrier from my brain #bcs some of the things i do for fandom are literally borderline research papers #like. read and research a bunch. write about it to other people. apply the info(in fic/drawing/meta)#and really the topics are not so different from my actual coursework #but when i contemplate having to research and write for school it just flatlines my brain #need to start forcing people to watch me borderline seminar so that it feels more fun and in-line w what i do on here #the fernando card post???? practically a research paper. god. my brain is so bad #catie.rambling.txt

I’m just so… I don’t want jaehyun to eventually alter the way he acts or presents himself due to backlash from fans (in and out of the bonedo fandom) regarding his “loudness” and energy. it doesn’t cause harm to him or his band members. he’s relatively good at reading the room and adjusting his seriousness (like sometimes I think people think they chose the bonedo leader willy nilly lmao) and he’s not oblivious or unaware of his bandmates and others. like anyone else, I’m sure there’s moments when he might need help refocusing or w/e, but I have yet to see anyone who is warranted to have an opinion (ie: knows him irl) react negatively to his personality? like he’s not the first idol to be talkative. he’s not the first idol that might run around a bit. he’s not the first idol to make a lot of jokes or flirt with half his bandmates. it’s not a new personality. it’s a little different than what we see in other leaders but again, it’s not “new”. loud people were not invented in 2003. and over time, maybe he’ll mellow out a bit. it happens. or maybe he’ll remain as he is, that’s cool too. and as a leader, I kind of hope for the latter bc the industry will work them and burn them out and I hope they’re able to maintain their youth and softness towards the world. that not everything is a battle or a fight, that the job while a job, can be one they continue to enjoy to do.

i need to do exposure therapy with purgatory i think the fandom experience at the time instilled the unpleasant dread and despair i still feel whenever i think about the event

#though it was also . the event itself’s fault . lol #and the miserable experience it was to watch them play from 7 pm to 5 am every single day for two weeks my time #and yes a lot of my unpleasant feelings towards purg come from my own ass being hyperfixated on the serv/etoiles #to a point where i struggled to Not watch . which made the feelings worse yknow #also like it kinda sucked for everyone it also sucked as an etoiles viewer . man was constantly stuck between the #‘i can’t fight like i want to bc people will complain that im too strong and it’s unfair nor can i Not fight bc people will complain that #i’m going easy on people/not invested in the team’ . and he was right people shit on him either way #like the event marked him in the ‘damned if i do damned if i don’t’ department so much that he still uses purgatory as an example today #and then he joined purg2……. babey girl ur hyperfixation is hurting u….. i actually enjoyed purg2 more tho so idc as much LOL #purg2 was better bc it was an event u actually willingly joined and it included people not from the main server so it wasn’t stuck in #fucking ‘is this lore or a pvp competition’ limbo #anw yeah even though i dislike purgatory overall bc it rly did shitall other than make people angry for two weeks (on ur server thats #supposed to be about uniting cultures . they all spoke in primarily english for two weeks bc the competition model that purg was #was just not built for short distance discussions…. lord)#there’s still some cool stuff that came out of it . my fave highlights r bloodhounds and nice cogs i love them #when i feel stronger i will comb through the vods to write up the relevant stuff for the etoiles miraheze page i just . am still not strong #enough . the detox must be slow and steady #jay rambles #also i am going to bed now i should have been asleep ages ago

#or if you’re going to make claims like this. provide examples #i’m not going to pretend the writers don’t have bias but god. people really like to read author intention into everything #i don’t hate anders but man the way some people talk about him is insane #‘the writers are so mean to him :(‘ yes because thats how the story moves forward. it’s called character motivation. hope that helps #and the idea that he’s punished for it goes around a lot but like. it’s totally possible to let him run away scot free #that is an option the game provides. i think if the writers rly thought he was irredeemable it wouldn’t be there. you can’t spare meredith #are you upset that there is the Option to punish him. or that other characters disagree with him. what exactly are we pointing to #you can’t just say shit #i have my own disagreements abt how the mage templar conflict doesn’t work as well outside the context of kirkwall #but because of that. because the scope is broader and stakes are different. i don’t see why they owe him anything tbh #because realistically it’s the annullment that causes the other circles to rebel? the fact that innocents were punished for it??#like i’m not saying the writing is perfect but #is he ‘punished’ because he’s not universally hailed as a hero #for doing something extremely controversial. come on man #other characters will have opinions on that too #that doesn’t reflect on the writers’ own opinions. not everything is a self insert #yknow what i’m feeling brave lol. send poast.#mine
