I have a character that I will absolutely torment and tease so much and it’s literally me just looking and named different. They are so caught up in their oblivious love they don’t notice Jay likes him too, even if a small amount he doesn’t notice either. JAY AND NYA NEVER BECAME YING/YANG IN THIS. When they do? Kervin, oh poor Kervin is just about ready to kill himself. But anyway. I need headcannons for what will happen in Prime Empire, because Kervin goes into the game with Jay at the beginning.

Headcannons time!!::

Kervin (OC) and Jay share an apartment together (bunk beds, same room and everything. One bedroom, one kitchen, one bath and a single TV lol. It’s surprisingly clean for how cheap it was.)

Kervin and Jay grow their friendship immensely. Kervin really gets to see why he likes Jay so much.

A week in the game city (I forgot what it was called don’t come after me lol /joke) is a day in Ninjago cuz I just love time differences/skips

Kervin starts accidentally showing feelings but quickly covers them up. But Jay noticed some ;)

Jay will be smarter cuz they made him a stupid lil virgin once they changed character designs.

I also need some for other seasons but I haven’t gotten that far lol. I was watching Prime Empire today and It occurred to me I should make a fan-fiction so these are the ones I’m comfortable posting. Please give me some more headcannons too!

I was like “what little rat does that remind you of” “the dude spying in the castle just now” when I rhetorically said “what shadowpeach does that remind you of” and you debunked it 😭 but since we’re talking about this now

Yin and yang transform each other: like an undertow in the ocean, every advance is complemented by a retreat, and every rise transforms into a fall.” Idk about you but with Mac getting chaos powers, I figured the show might take inspo from this, what with the cycles and all too. There might be an opposite “order” power in contrast to Nines. If Pandora’s box is literal, MK is “hope” there’s a lot of other symbolism fandom likes the stereotypically portray into their ShadowPeach lol. But they have day/night too. Nobody has to think too hard to take inspo, and most shows don’t in my experience. Shout out to Ninjago and ATLA just mixing culture and language in a way that annoys people and placing it under one umbrella.

well i mean, lmk is already playing with the themes of order and chaos. except there Order was on the side of the antagonists while MK was Chaos (being the harbinger and all). we saw it with LBD and Azure and now with Nines

also, lmk’s order can be seen when it talks about Fate and Destiny and even the “story”, but in a way where they are shown as being too fixed and bureaucratic compared to the lessons being taught to MK and by MK which are “your fate (order) is your own and can only be determined by you.”

we had it with MK telling LBD “do you really think the universe cares about any of us?”

we had it when Macky told MK “if you tread the paths already carved for you, then you doom yourself into a self-fulfilling prophecy”

we have it even more explicitly in s5 from Wukong: “sometimes you need to carve your own path and fuck all the rest”

lmk is all about finding that balance between the chaos of your mind and the forced order of the world around you. our own daily ying and yang that we must balance, and that is why i don't place those themes with shadowpeach just because it takes away from the crux of the show where it’s original focus is on MK and how he changes and grow throughout the seasons

tbh i think their day/night themes with ying/yang are significantly minor. the major focus with them is the themes of betrayal and reconciliation and past haunts

i've reached day of the departed for the ninjago rewatch and EUUUGHHH i wish they'd fleshed this out into an actual season, or at least something beyond a 45 minute special

like give us an episode or two of cole fading in and out because in the special the audience gathers that it's happened before based on what jay says at the beginning of the special but??? season 5 and season 6 never really built that up?? so let his fears and resentment towards yang build up on screen until he makes the decision to steal the ying blade to confront him directly. i don't know if they gave an actual canon reason for why he started to fade (haven't gotten that far into the special yet) but maybe yang was using the magic of the eclipse to mess with him or something like that

also we'd get to see more shenanigans with the villains. i just think they're silly so i want more + i enjoy the interactions we got at the beginning. look i know crystallized does a villain team-up too but i wasn't a big fan because i didn't really care about those villains. anyways uhhh yeah

dotd should've been a season because i want more cole spotlight and screentime for those silly goofy villains interacting. that's all

My Aromantic Cole Head Canon (that is I guess no longer supported?)

IDK I guess just bear with me on this because nobody I personally know still watches this show, so I just need to rant.

I feel like a lot of shows feel pressured to pair people off because obviously, that sells. The saying is sex sells, but I'd argue that it's actually love that sells. Because obviously we are talking about a kids show here. And we are all at least teenagers, right?

Right?

That aside...

My personal head canon, which I've had since like, season 7 or 8, was that Cole just wasn't romantically interested in anybody. And that he was content with that. He found the same happiness that people like Jay and Nya found in a romantic relationship in platonic and mentorship relationships.

I thought maybe that was what the show's creators were even going for with the relationship between Cole and the Ninjago through the whole show. Then again with little Wu in seasons 8-9. And then with Vanya in season 13 (despite there being some romantic subcodes that were like quickly discarded), then with Frack in Dragon's Rising Season 2 (I haven't seen that yet, I have to wait for it to go up on YouTube because I don't have Netflix). The head canon is that while is not romantically interested, and like I guess you could call it aromantic, he is like a huge mentor almost parenteral figure.

My main reasoning is that in real life, I feel like we all know somebody who never got married, yet they are basically a collective mentor/parent. I mostly see this in church communities or in teachers (esp in high school and college) and coaches (I have an aunt who is an ice-skating instructor and a teacher who I'm mainly pulling from).

And when you look at the main team, you have Jay and Nya who at least in the old series where endgame and were I guess married (if that's what the Ying/Yang thing is, Imma be so real I have seen season 10 all of once), then you have Zane and Pixal (who I have feelings about based on the 4 hour YouTube video essay about female representation in Ninjago). Kai and Skylar are more on again off again, but I don't wonder if this may become endgame (I have conflicted feelings about them, that I will not be going into here). The only real representation of this single mentor is Wu, but even he had feelings for Misako (which I have words about, despite my love for Misako). Even Lloyd had that toxic af relationship with Harumi which I will not be going into.

All I'm asking for, and all I'm saying, is that I want a character who can find fulfillment in platonic and mentorship relationships. Maybe I'm self-projecting because I'm feeling desperate because despite being in college people my age and younger are getting married in droves rn. But for me, Cole has always been that caring figure who was secure enough to be okay in a nonromantic relationship.

Cole and Gio are great, I love that dynamic. I freaking love Gio, he is probably one of my favorite new characters. I love that they said "well, we're the adults" and adopted the children. And Bonzel, who I guess is older than them, but is basically just a teenager. But I just want someone who is content with having friends and being a mentor, but not being in a romantic relationship.

Yes, I understand Lloyd is basically that. But I cannot get over that ugly thing with Harumi. He tried. I want someone who is just not gonna try. Maybe they're not content, that's fine. Maybe they desperately want to be in love but can't. I am most definitely projecting here, because Lloyd has been in love (yes, it was one sided) and I haven't. I like Lloyd, I just wanted it to be Cole okay. I'm sorry. That stupid Ninjago where are they now image floated around (the one with Cole grayed out and listed as gay) and I can't stop thinking about this.

Thanks for coming to my rant. I understand this isn't everyone's cup of tea and I know people ship Cole and Gio. I don't think that's an issue. I just miss my aromantic Cole head canon.

I am so glad you asked, so ignoring the whole blue theme that they have going on. Both were adopted, like you can argue that Dick was technically only a ward of bruce wayne but let's simplify, both are a kind of superheroes, both cope by using humor and jokes, both are smarter than most people assume. Both of them are married (I think that's basically what ying and yang are) to a woman and implied bisexual. Both are neurodivergent as fuck, both of them have friends that are like family to them, titans and ninja, both from some point of life were trained to be child soldiers by weird rich man whom is actually master in martial arts and has traumatic backstory. Both of them grew up in places that aren't typical for children to be raised, not wrong just not typical. In Jays case in trailer in junk yard and in Dicks in circus. Both later on in life inherited a ton lot of money.

Also both of them lost memories at least once.

I think that's everything, I could probably find more if you want, or analyze how different characters from dc are similar to ninjago characters, I'm just silly like this.

like. The others did kind of have a choice in staying as ninja- the way they break up after s3 proves that. Nya... kind of didn't. She got forced out of her role as samurai x, which was something she made for herself, an identity that she could quit at anytime, a secret identity that helped her escape being the "useless girl" of the group. Then she had to train to defeat the ghosts. Then escape Nadakhan. Then travel in time and save her parents. After all that, it was pretty obvious that she wasn't going to have a chance to leave.

Seabound was a choice for her, one she wanted to do. She didn't have to. They could have waited for help, or maybe just moved all together.

Nya chose to leave, she chose to save them all and became so much happier. It was clear that though some part of her was sad for having to leave her family, she was going to be much happier combining with Nyad.

Jay trying to figure out a way to bring her back while living in the lighthouse. He tries everything, maybe even contacting the other realms. He builds everything he can think of, maybe even asking Bentho to help.

Sea Nya meets him on the beach occasionally, asking why he keeps trying to bring her back.

that convo is for the fic i wanna write ab this now, but basically Jay doesn't think he deserves Nya back. He's doing it for Kai and the others, especially Kai, who's doing the whole underground fighting again, digging himself into a hole he's not going to be able to be pulled out of.

You know how in Ninjago instead of rings they present the ying yang to propose?

What if there was a courting ritual where if one of the ninja (or anyone in Ninjago) wanted to date someone they had to trade an item of value for the same thing

AI; if your a dnd fan, trading one of your dice from a set in exchange for another from the potential suitor

Or

Getting a pack of playing cards and trading Aces

Basically taking something they both deeply care about and share it with eachother to deepen their bond

For Poly relationships they just trade more than one of said thing so everyone can share the love!

So a few fun things that can happen with this is…

The miscommunication trope; Where person A gives an item that meets the requirements and person B trades with them unknowingly and now person A believes they are either together or person B reciprocates person A’s feelings

(Can be angsty or pure fluff! It’s all up to you!)

When person A tries to secretly trade and gets caught by person B who reciprocates their feelings

A couple that’s been together for years after marriage have grown a large collection of things they traded and still do for fun that they show to their children to teach them about what things that they might trade (if they want to) in the future

A group of friends trading seeing as it can also be seen as a form of strengthening companionship

A poly relationship that’s constantly trying to outdo the others by making their trades (by their standards) the best but also because they want their partners to have the best

A new couple that once they get a new *what they trade* they have a sort of ritual where they do something special (being an event or just a handshake type thing) to trade with the other that they came up with together

A puppy love trope trade where the little kids trade woodchips from the playground for fun and host fake weddings afterwards

Long distance couples that ship their trades to eachother and keep them in display cases to treasure till their lovers arrive back home

Character Thoughts - Lloyd

I want to do more analysis stuffs, and I need some time to rewatch season 5 to continue my season analysis, so I figured I'd do this. I'll do whatever characters you want, I'll definitely hit the main 6, but if there are any side characters, I'd be happy to do them as well!

Okay. Time to get real. Honest and unpopular opinion. I don't like Lloyd. I kinda hate him.

If this upsets you, please consider actually reading the whole thing before screaming at me.

Idk if it's just a thing I've got against main characters or something, but I really don't get it. He has no defining character traits. I mean, he's a good kid I guess, and he's brave and noble and all that crap, but he's just... boring.

His backstory has the potential to be interesting, but they do nothing with it. His relationship with his dad is inconsistent as hell. Does he respect him? Or not? Has he worked through the whole evil dad thing? Or not? Has he forgiven his mother? Or not? Does the whole skipping years of your life thing effect him at all? Or not? What about his impulses from when he was a bratty kid? Does he... have them?

We've spent seasons and seasons and SEASONS on Lloyd's baggage and gotten absolutely nowhere. Even in seasons when he's not the focus he's got to be important. He's got to go off on his own, or be the key to some... thing. He's got to go off with his dad and angst in the forest, or get lost or possessed or be the last one standing. And I really don't get why it ALWAYS has to be Lloyd. Especially after season 2. His purpose has been fulfilled. He did his destiny or whatever. Now he should be just as powerful as everyone else. No more special treatment.

I don't know what it is. He never like... makes mistakes. He doesn't have any real character flaws. He can be kinda impulsive sometimes maybe. Sometimes he's kinda gullible and sometimes not. Any mistakes he makes are like "oh geez, responsibility is all on me and I'm so important and cool, isn't this tragic? The fall of a hero?"

He's not human, he's just a bunch of hero tropes wrapped into a person. That's why he doesn't have a personality, his character traits fluctuate depending on what trope fits the convenience of the plot! Say what you want about Kai's impulsive stereotype, or Jay's goofy stereotype, at least they're consistant.

Speaking of the team, what even is his relationship with anyone? I don't mean headcanons, or theories, or your interpretation, I mean how does he treat Kai and Cole any differently? Who in the team is he closest to? What's his relationship with Nya? What about Zane? Where's the differentiation? I feel like the other 5 have a history and bonds and connection, and he was dropped in there. Then, without any development, they were totally buddy-buddy all of a sudden.

Now, I get why he's appealing. Especially to little kids and stuff. He's the main ninja, he's got cool powers, and is strong and easy to self insert. Ninjago is a kids show. I get it.

I also can understand the potential appeal of Lloyd. He's got this sort of ying yang sort of backstory, he's had both broken and perfect families. He has the potential to be really interesting and thought provoking and emotional.

But none of that is in the show.

I feel like that's something I'll hit on a lot in this series. We as a fandom have assigned a lot of headcanons to characters, and made theories and interpolated a lot (I am so very guilty of this with PIXAL) but when you step back and look at it... none of it is in the show. The show has so many great ideas and concepts, but it doesn't do stuff. We as a fandom have done that legwork for them. That's something to be proud of, but it's also important to realize that that's what it is.

Not to say that ninjago is a bad show or anything. It's great, and I still love it, but when someone doesn't like a certain aspect as much as you do, I think this is likely the reason.

Anyway. I don't like Lloyd, even though he's the face of the show and all. Whatever. Just my opinion. I can stomach him fine. I'm not an active Lloyd hater or anything. I just... don't care for his screen time very much.

If you love him. Cool. Try and enlighten me as to why in the notes. I'd like to know what you like about him.

Can I just say how I deeply appreciate the fact that, not only we actual get DRAGON FIGHTING (while they usually are just a ride), but all the characters are being active?? I thought for a moment Nya was going to be out of it, but then SURPRISE!! 💦💦 The elemental masters were like "Ninja back? NINJA GO!!!" 😂😂

Yeah, also that Ninja-go from Lloyd made me cry 😢 So beautiful

Jay finally saying what we all always think, why people still live in Ninjago, even after all the mess it went though? 😂😂

Also, son and uncle back to back gave me chills, they are both masters now! Wu finally got fully integrated into the final battle with the Firstborne (who did so great, proud of dragon mom 😙) and did a lot! I'm so happy about it!!

At some point, while the ninja were thinking about how to defeat the Colossi, in my mind I was like "Mm, usually there need to be a crazy act at this point, usually someone does something really heroic or really stup- OH"

Of course 😂😂 It's so him I can't even get mad, but since he's my flame babe I kinda had my heart stopping a couple of times 😥

Then, of course, we have the fight!

It started really hardcore, then slowly drifted in a more philosophical way. I kinda felt like they could've pushed their limits a little more before going there, but I REALLY like the concept!

Fighting against no fighting. Power against balance. What really saddens me is that this kinda of things were noble principles Sensei G used to believe in. He taught the Art of the Silent Fist, that I think Lloyd used pretty freaking well 😄😄

What can I say? This season was simply fantastic. The animations, the soundtracks, the references to older seasons, the plot, the way they treated characters that didn't have much space in the past! One of the best season, I can't really wait what else they have in store!!!

This is it, my friends, last thoughts. Thank you for the notes and the attention! We really made it through the season! Phew, his ending is way happier than the last one 😅😅
