I walked over to the bar counter with Natasha, smiling awkwardly as she walked around to stand behind it, grabbing some drinks from the glass shelves that's decorated with different shaped and colored bottles that help various alcoholic beverages. "Yikes, Anne. So smooth." She teased, her red lips quirking up into a smirk as she poured me some Vodka shots and a glass of whiskey. "Thank you. Def going to need these." I downed the two vodkas and went to grab the lime but James grabbed it before I could and bit into it. Natasha must've read the room and walked away, patting my back softly as she left. I gawked up at him with a slight glare until he cupped my face and kissed me. I gripped his arms and maneuvered to where I slammed his face down onto the ground, my knee pressed into the back of his neck and my other leg stretched out, pressing my foot firmly down against his left wrist. My right hand raised into a fist and my left hand gripping my knife I pulled from under my skirt. "Do not fucking touch me..." I snarled. "Just because I think you're attractive is not an invitation for you to treat me like some treat that you can snatch up, you unruly dog!" I stood and glared down at him as I walked over and grabbed my whiskey, downing it then turning and walking over to the balcony. Tony went to yell at James but I turned and glared at him. He glared back, looking at me baffled that I still wanted to defend James after what had just unfolded. James stood and cleared his throat. "Tony... Shut the fuck up. You're a grown man acting like a child. I am an adult. Clearly, I can handle myself." Once I was outside I took a deep breath of the cool Autumn air and sighed to cool myself off. I slipped my knife back under my skirt into the thigh sheath. The sound of the door behind me made me sigh until Clint's voice broke through the silence. "Hey. You okay?" I nodded and turned to him, shaking my head. "I didn't mean to ruin the party or upset anyone-." "Upset anyone? It was pretty funny knocking him onto his ass. Tasha taught you well." He chuckled, leaning against the railing. "I'm proud of ya, kid." "Thanks, Clinton. I appreciate it. How's the wife and kids?" "Pretty good. Are you gonna come visit again? The kids miss you." "Of course. I miss them a lot. Come on. Let's get inside." He nodded with a smile and walked in, the sight of a green flash caught my eyes. I turned to see Lokis stepping out of a green portal, lucky enough to where no one could see him. Loki smirked at me and I quickly peeked my head through the door. "One-second guys. I'll be in shortly. I have a phone call." I lied with a smile, closing the door. "Loki what are you doing?" I hissed, looking around to make sure no one was watching. "Come with me. I want to take you to Asgard." Before I could argue with him, he was pulling me through the portal in his arms. He smiled down at me and pressed his lips to mine before walking over to Skurge and giving a little nod then turning himself into Odin. I put two and two together, gasping at Loki and pushing him slightly. Skurge grabbed his sword and held it to my throat, causing Loki to glare at him. Loki turned back to himself and gave me puppy dog eyes. "Please. Father grew ill after mother's passing and I took him somewhere on Earth where he could be safe." I softened and wrapped my arms around him tightly. "I-I didn't want the people of Asgard to know and be scared since Thor is off doing who knows what... Thor doesn't;t know I am alive and doesn't know father is ill. I want to keep it that way for Thor's and Asgard's sake." "Fine... Now, why did you wish to bring me here?" I sat beside 'Odin' as we watched a play about how Loki 'sacrificed' himself for Asgard. The sight of Loki acting as Odin had me on the verge of laughter but I shoved grapes into my mouth to keep myself from the laughter then took a swig of Asgardian wine before Loki realized, his eyes going wide. "You can't drink that. One sip from his is like drinking fifty glasses of

Midgardian alcohol." Oh I know, Loki... I can feel it. I held onto him and fanned myself but the feeling of my arm waving and any slight movement I did caused me to feel nauseous. The sound of disgust was brought out from the Asgardians as I ran to the nearest bush and vomited. "Oh, dear... Please help her?" "Father.." Thor stated, nodding his head towards 'Odin' causing my eyes to go wide. "Oh shit... Uh. My son Thor has returned! Welcome back, my son." I turned and watched as Thor gave the Skull of Surtur to a guard then walk over to Odin, tossing Mjolnir up and down as he talked with Loki. Holding his head toward Mjolnir after he threw it. "Nothing will stop it. Not even your face." "You're mad. You-You'll be executed for this." He said firmly, in hopes Thor would fall for his tricks again. "Then I'll see you on the other side... Brother." "Alright, I yield!!" Thor pushed Loki out of the way as to not harm him with Mjolnir. "Where's Odin? Where is father... Did you kill him?!" "I know where he is..." I walked over and placed a soft hand on Thor's bicep. "Anne? Aren't you suppose to be in university? Why are you here?" "Loki recently told me he was alive. I'm on break at the moment. He um... kinda stole me from a party." "Since when have you two been close? I thought you hated his guts?" Thor looked at me confused, raising a brow. "I've been visiting her in her dreams. We've become close..." Loki smiled and wrapped his hand around mine before walking with Skurge and Thor to the BiFrost. I held myself close to Loki as we got sent back to Earth. Loki waved his hand slightly and made it to where Thor and himself were in Midgardian clothes to match me so they could blend in more. "Loki? I don't think this is where Odin is." I looked up at him. The building in front of us that Loki claims Odin is, is now rubble. Thor and I noticed a yellow ring forming under Loki. "What are you doing, brother?" Thor asked, gripping Mjolnir disguised as an umbrella. "This isn't me-." Loki fell through the yellow ring then vanished. Another one opened and out stepped Stephen Strange. "Stephen? That explains the rings of magic.." "Anne. Thor. Come with me. It's about your father..." I walked with Thor and Strange into the portal, my jaw-dropping at the intricate decore that was scattered around the fancy-looking building. Strange told us that Odin was in Norway and needed Loki and Thor there as soon as possible. I stood with Thor and Loki behind Odin, unsure if I should be here with them as support for whatever it was going to be or if I should leave and give them privacy. Loki gripped my hand and followed Thor to sit beside their father, letting me stay standing beside him, his hand still in mine. This was Odin's goodbye. He confessed that there was another sibling, Hela Odinsdottir and she would return with his death since his life was the only thing keeping her imprisoned. Thor and Loki stood, watching as Odin vanished into golden stars that swept away with the cooling breeze that blew against us. The sight of a green portal, much like Loki's made my heart race as a woman with long black hair walked out with a smirk. "Hello, brothers... I see the old man is dead. Finally. Now kneel..." "I beg your pardon." The resemblance was uncanny even though Loki was the adopted one. Thor growled and threw Mjolnir, only for her to catch it and break it as if it was made of thin glass. "Lo-Loki..." I squeezed his hand as her eyes landed on me. "My my. What do we have here? My little brother in love with a human? I shall kill her first." "Loki!" Loki kissed me one last time then grabbed me and pushed me off the ledge of the cliff, causing me to fall into one of his portals with a gasp and scream. I landed on the main room's floor and quickly stood, looking up. "Loki, no!! Loki... Thor, please!!" I whined as the portal closed. A feeling of defeat and heartbreak washed over me as Tony ran to me and wrapped his arms around me.

Buffy rewatches Buffy Season One Episode One- Welcome to the Hellmouth I am going have *gasps dramatically* really dumb opinions. And I don't really want to censor that. So if I remember things wrong or anything else I'm sorry. These are my opinions yaaay.

Let's go! Straight up, never seen the movie. Don't plan on it. Sue me.

Opening scene is bitchin'. I didn't realize it was Darla until she spoke. I forgot. Also I want a vamp forehead in makeup. Ahhhh the theme. It's been too long. They're all so smol.

Try not to get kicked out. Bless Joyce. Xander, you look 25 at least. why.

He rips and instantly starts taping that thing back together. Already I remember why I want him dead. can't wait.

Buffy my dearest. You try so hard to be normal and the first not normal thing shows up. Then just "I should go take a look!" if you want out, ignore it.

What's the sitch? I'm not watching Kim Possible. Buffy is… not me. But she is. I am confused. Her priorities. Last month's hair. My goodness child. Giles, you're being creepy. and sassy. The dueling sassing. That's why I liked this show. Remember when Joss had good snappy dialogue that had a point? Doesn't matter he only knows how to write three different characters.

How do vampire actors speak with those teeth? I want to know.

How is it Buffy can sass with Giles but can't stop mentioning the dead around other people? Also, how does not her mom know she's insane? Oh dear. David Boringness or however you spell his name and that massive forehead. You know, I actually had no idea he was a vampire when I first watched it. My dad was shocked.

I know he's supposed to be this beautiful dark scary man. Why don't I find him attractive?

How didn't I know he was a vampire? He's such a freaking creep. Seriously. A dude hunts you down in an alley and gives you a necklace. Get his ass arrested for stalking. Why is the scene with the bad shot like a shaky old music video? You're going to make me sick.

Willow. My child. Sweet pure of heart baby. I adore her more than life in this moment.

Why is Giles hanging out at a club? This is also stalking. Buffy. He's talking into your ear over your shoulder. He knows you have bad dreams. Call the cops.

Cordy, rejecting the dumb boy. She has one (1) good trait.

Buffy can sense vampires through their clothing. Also, since when has sensing them been a thing? And her advice nearly gets people killed? Trying to make her as un mary sue as you can off the bat. Not bad.

Fuck Cordy. I hate her.

In attempting to keep my rambling thoughts in opinions and not just bleek observation I'll just say, the master could have had more atmosphere than just looking like a hairless molerat.

Xander at least accepts the crazy real quick. And as much as I don't like reluctant hero traits Buffy also accepts quick.

Protect the willow.

Why does darla have to sound like an anime girl? with tiny squeaky voice.

The fight choreography gets better? Right? I'm not just wearing my rose tinted glasses on this? The use of just tossing people across rooms is up to five now. six.

Heck yes, music video looking walking vampire horde. TO BE CONTINUED. with a freeze frame? I'm surprised it didn't start with that scene then a freeze frame going 'yeah that's me, the screaming blonde chick in a coffin but how did I end up here?'

For being called welcome to the hellmouth, no one called it that or knew what is was. just 'the mouth of hell' which, I wouldn't say when I first started watching this because ‘hell’ was a bad word in my house. So glad I'm grown and will be able to properly cuss cordelia out. You know. I thought this was going to be more cheesy. I know it gets worse before it gets better. I remember that much.

100 Days of Sweat

Welcome to the official admission post for the 100 days of sweat challenge! *plays the conquer theme song and does a booty pop* This is a pretty long post, but has everything you need to start, so read on!

READING TIME: 6 minutes.

OoOh? What's that?

Thanks for coming out of the cave! In short, it's a consistency challenge to turn working out into a habit.

You've basically got to move your body for a 100 days straight. No slacking, no backing out!

Most take on this challenge personally, but I felt accountability would be great for those beginning with exercising & those who can't seem to keep their streak (cough, me).

Sounds fun! How do I join? Do I need to do a booty pop too?

Booty pops are appreciated. But here's how!

1. First things first, decide whether you'll be joining via IG, Discord or staying on Tumblr.

2. If using IG, reply to this post with your handle or (alternative) if you'd like, join Discord instead! For that, click here to join the server!

(NOTE: Those who joined via the first post I created regarding this needn't reply again! I've already added you to the list.)

3. Lastly, boost this! Reblog, get your followers to join! Drag your friend or sibling in! (already dragged my bestie into this in case no one joined in lmao)

Important PSA: yO, ANYONE can join! All my beginners and winners, young teens and old pals, drarry fans and johnlock shippers, team cold water AND hot water (sparing y'all because I stan working out more), EVERYONE!

Here's what I'll do:

I'm creating an IG group for those interested in staying fully committed. (Pros include making friends! Or enemies, for a hundred whole days! Some of you might even get married together, I have high hopes because wedding cake is everything)

Sayani from @studign-stars will be the admin for Discord! You can hit her up for queries, if any.

In short, there'll be 3 separate groups. One for those joining via Discord, one for those on the IG group, and a third for those staying on Tumblr.

If you wish to use any other platforms like Snapchat and Twitter, feel free! Also plug your progress on Tumblr too so we can hype each other on! (tag stuff with #100dos)

+ That said, I highly suggest joining either one of the groups, for accountability does wonders. It's now up to you, fellow warrior.

How to prep for this challenge:

OhO! There's a whole lot prepping to be slayed. To finish this challenge as smoothly as possible, here's a few steps. Make this easier for yo’ lazy bum.

1+ Firstly, grab a marker and scrap paper (when you on a student budget, cuz same) and write down numbers from 1 to 100. I did 1 to 30 to prevent myself from being overwhelmed, but do right them numbers to gain momentum.

2+ Take couple before photos. From the front, and the side. If you don't want to, take them anyway and store it in a folder you never open. Also measure your weight, and if you have a measuring tape, take other basic measurements of the chest, waist, arm etc.

3+ Coming to the main part! Pick your 'base’ routine. This is the primary workout you wanna do 2-3 times a week. It's the main course!

For beginners, I suggest choosing a 15 min full body workout. Do try it out before you start 100 days— make sure it's challenging enough.

For those who already move their bodies, pick a workout that aligns with your long-term goals. If you want toned legs, pick a leg day routine. If you want abs, focus on abs.

My base routine is the Beginner's Bodyweight Workout (BBW) from the NerdFitness website. I do 3 sets of the entire routine (takes around 25-30 mins) thrice a week.

So, do some research and pick a workout! Doesn't have to be an hour long at all, just make sure it's time-effective and challenges you.

4+ Find your cheat day workout.

Yikes, the wording is kinda incorrect, but anything for the clickbait.

This is the workout you do 2 days a week, and is the second most important workout. (This means: 3 + 2 = 5, you’ve now got five days planned!)

I do Alexis Ren’s ab routine (I hate it) twice a week because abs are my target zone. For you, it could be arms, thighs, butt, anything!

5+ Leave your last two days for simple moving.

It's up to you to decide what's going to be cooking in the remaining two days. For suggestions, you can pick a fun activity, say yoga, handstands, cartwheels, splits, any form of dancing like hip-hop, Zumba etc.

I'm trying to do a handstand this year and get my middle splits already (I fell off track so I still have quite a way to go) so I'll be stretching and doing hand flexibility exercises in the last 2 days.

Or you can just go for a jog or a power walk. Just keep the momentum going!

A quick recap:

To summarize, you're doing a major workout 3 times a week, a toning workout (mine is abs) twice a week and a fun activity in the last two days.

Also, mix this up. Your muscles need time to heal, and I strongly emphasize leaving the next day free for lighter activities after doing a major workout. Here's my routine, as an eg:

Do remember that this is just a STARTING POINT, because we don't want you to wake up everyday and be like “wut I do today.” It's now your mission to plan your workout routine. Consider taking more workload or reduce it as per your level (this is definitely a lot, try reducing if you're just beginning).

Also important: DETERMINE your workout routine NOW. I spent 2 years (only stopped like 3 months ago) doing YouTube videos haphazardly. This works, because you are working out after all, but it's a pretty lousy method if you want consistent results. Also makes you depend on motivation to workout (which has probability results equal to me marrying Tom Felton), whereas if you had a routine, you'll have to workout because it's in your schedule and you'd be a loser to lie to your schedule.

Is this a lot? It's a lot. I know.

If this is overwhelming you, don't back away darling. Face your fears. Here are some reasons to not back out—

The entire challenge is flexible: You don't have to follow that routine ^ if you don't want to. Starting out, you can do a major workout 2 times a week and fill the other 5 days with fun stuff. You can always change the routine later, 100 days is a long ass time.

The challenge fucks with your mindset and strengthens it: 100 days of continuous movement is CRAZY. Can you imagine how strong (mentally too!) we'll all be at the end? You'll have grown so much!

Working out will become a habit: I've been working out for 2 years now, and it has positively affected every single sphere of my life. Exercising is the #1 habit I suggest everyone build. Since science says it takes 66 days to build a habit, we're ON it.

You'll be really proud of yourself: I know I'll be. I'm literally going to hug y'all at the end of it, and sing jingles about how far you've come. 2019 will have been slayed.

I could go on and on, but this is it. Now's the moment. This is about doing something you're afraid of. Taking risks. Learning, falling, getting back up.

Thence, ladies, gents and non-binary pals, THIS is the 100 days of sweat challenge. You're cordially invited to it.

this super cute fic features nicky who is doing his best to raise a kid while simultaneously falling for said kid’s teacher, erik mountain man klose. as one might imagine, this is hilarious and so fun to read

this is such a funny, wonderful, and adorable fic, it was really entertaining to see how nicky reacted to things and all his rambling. erik was such a star, i’m so happy that they were able to meet. i always love your unique writing style, and this time was no different!

parts i enjoyed:

”everyone who knew him two years ago knew there was a dark, dark year where nicky wore the same sweatpants for weeks on end until allison quite literally cut them to pieces while they were still on his body” ohmygoodness, this is so funny! i would have loved to see this, i bet allison was chasing after nicky who was running away yelling ‘but they’re comfortable!!’ and cutting off whatever chunk of sweatpant was closest to her

”they feel almost sacred, these few minutes in the morning where everything is completely silent” yes! i totally understand this

”sometimes nicky pretends he’s living alone, that he’s just like any other 25 year old, but he always feels guilty after” this is kind of heartbreaking. nicky has such a big heart and is a natural caretaker, but i think that he’s so used to this mindset of taking care of other people that he forgets he has to first take care of himself. he’s sacrificed a lot for the people that he loves and i wish he was able to see that he’s doing so much good and it’s okay if he misses the life he could have had. he really didn’t have much time to be a young adult

i love that even though nicky is really interested in erik and wants to hang out with him, he prioritizes hugo and gets him out of that overwhelming environment. he’s so thoughtful

”in a way, because this isn’t normally where he finds attractive men, and he usually doesn’t share his crush with 20 middle-aged mothers” this is funny, but also? i don’t know how i feel about all these middle-aged women flirting with this teacher. (just kidding. i know how i feel. and that is bad. it’s kind of creepy of these moms to act like that…..)

it’s neil! and andrew! i am so happy to see that in this au, even after they’ve all grown up, they’re still close to nicky and are there to help him

”’have you made a move on him?’ andrew asks without blinking” sometimes i forget that andrew’s version of flirting is very… blunt haha

”nicky laughs awkwardly while mr. erik just stares at him” IS ERIK ALSO JUST BLANKING BECAUSE HE LIKES NICKY

”but he gets interrupted by the human embodiment of an air horn, loud and full of compressed air” oh my goodness this is the perfect description of margaret haha

”mr. erik looks down at his shirt with what looks like regret” LOL

i think it’s cute that andrew and neil are there, not just to help with taking care of hugo, but to give advice to nicky and help him as he’s freaking out

”the words are sweet, sweet vindication, because mr. erik refused to call margaret by her name” YES! take that, margaret

THE PICTURE HUGO DREW OF HIS FAMILY IS SO CUTE. the part to follow is not as cute, but it’s so great to read. we get to see a different side of nicky, where his concerns are and evidence of how much he’s trying. i love that he brought up the socks thing, it’s such a realistic thing to worry about, but also shows how good hugo is being taken care of

choosing what hugo should call nicky is such a tender moment!! so soft

”aside from a few prepackaged snacks that never see the light of day because nicky only reaches for them in the evening when hugo is already asleep” HAH

i really haven’t read any nerik fics before, but i really should if they’re all like this! i loved the seeing everything from nicky’s perspective, he’s so dramatic that it’s always really entertaining to see his side of things. it’s great to see him taking care of hugo, i bet it’s a bit more rewarding but potentially more exhausting than when he was parenting the twinyards, due to the age difference and personality type of hugo, which was more similar to nicky. i think you did an amazing job with the characterization of him, neil, andrew, and allison. i don’t know too much about erik from the books, but i love the way that you wrote him, so caring and sweet and exactly what nicky needs to balance out his self-consciousness and match his humour. this was super fun to read, i’m so glad everything wrapped up so nicely. thank you for writing this!

***The Best Rap Songs of 2019 - A Pundit PlayLi$t***

THE YEAR IS 2019.

The rap music genre has splintered multiple times into sub-sub genres, and the line between what is considered “real” hip-hop and what is considered 🗑️ begins to grow sharper and sharper. Hate grows on both sides, as heads - both old and new - collide over which rap songs should be considered worthy of praise, and which ones may be merely capitalizing on the social media trends of the day...

Enter THE Rap Pundit, a purist that is open to all lanes of rap music - provided those lanes are well represented with quality. That Pundit is me.

This year was harder than most because it was a mix of so many different impressive styles...with the exception of mainstream rap music. No Drake, no Kendrick, no Hov or Nas on the list this year, but what you will find are a ton of talented young artists inspired by them, and many other first ballot rap hall of famers. So while the mainstream waned, the underground absolutely feasted in 2019.

Here is the criteria I tried to use for this year’s rankings:

the song had to be in my regular rotation by 12/20/2019 (otherwise, I simply could not have had the time to truly experience it)

I aimed my rankings with the following prioritization in mind: 75% of my decision based on personal favoritism, 20% based on overall quality within the sub-genre regardless of whether or not I listen to it regularly (is it a vapid strip club joint? Then be the best strip club joint you can be!), and 5% based on overall impact (YES, how often a song comes up in conversation with my fellow peers does make a difference - welcome to the culture)

believe it or not, there was an honest attempt at making the most diverse list possible (because in reality if this list was just personal favorites, then the whole list would consist of Griselda, Roc, Mach, Mutant Academy & other underground all-stars from all over the east coast...but seriously, the underground straight massacred the mainstream biz this year)

Again, I have 200+ additional songs I love that I could easily have added on top of this one, but I think this list is plenty long enough as it is, am I right?

(As soon as you press play, you can feel the humidity coming off of this song as if we were in the crowd with Curry down in Florida. Denzel delivered a wonderful homage to his father, and to the Carol City of which he hails.)

(The instrumental alone makes for a quintessential Roc Marci soundtrack, an early standout off of Marcielago. That first beat is magical.)

(So quintessential to Bandana’s vibe this thing feels like it has a pulse. I was listening to this on my walk home the other day and it put me in such a breezy headspace...I can’t even describe it any other way than simply saying it’s another classic Madlib production.)

(Tree’s We Grown Now is such a great album. This song perfectly captures the gifts of the legendary Chicago MC, who I consider one of the genre’s unsung special talents. It’s worth a New Year’s Resolution to get familiar with Tree’s catalogue.)

(One of the hardest sounding songs in recent memory. I can hear these two do this all day, a great example of the tremendous work both artists put into 2019.)

Virginia’s Fly Anakin and Big Kahuna OG both clocked in ready to work in 2019, and they have stacks of great joints to prove it. Anakin’s “I’m from the projects, I don’t skateboard” helped this one push to the front of the Mutant pack.)

(If the lo-fi movement in rap music was a sports team, MIKE deserves to be the team captain. Tears of Joy is an intensely personal album, but amongst the tears there is much to feel joyful about after listening to MIKE’s latest collection of gems.)

(Few MC’s as unique as Wiki manage to actually create music that is enjoyable to listen to while they are attempting to color outside of conventional lines. Somehow, Wiki seems to get better at this rare skill with every project. An autobiographical album that feels like a disjointed, but musically cohesive diary, what Wiki manages to accomplish with Oofie is wildly impressive.)

63. “PTSD” - Omen, Mereba, Deante' Hitchcock & St. Beauty

(One of the most beautiful songs off of ROTD3, but it’s Omen’s verse that tugged most on my heart strings, and snagged a spot on this year’s Best Of list.)

Glory Days: Greaser AI Part 1

A/N: So, this is the first part of a story I came up with! Thanks to my dad, @heartbreak-5sos , for helping me out with this. I’m actually pretty excited about this series I have planned up. I made the like moodboard up there for the story. Anyway, I would love any and all feedback!

Summary: Nova and her boyfriend Calvin recently moved into a house that Nova bought. Everything was going great until Nova began to hear funny sounds, see shadows, and find cold spots in her new home. After some research, she learned that the leader of the South Side greaser gang in the 50s, Ashton Irwin, died in her home. Now in order to make him leave, she is faced with the task of bringing him back to life

After years and years and years of saving, Nova McAlister finally saved enough money to buy her own home. She was beyond thrilled especially since she would be living in her new home with her long-time boyfriend Calvin. The two had been an on and off again couple since they were 17. Recently, they’ve been on a good streak and have been ‘on’ for about four years. Now that Nova is 23 and Calvin is 25, they feel secure in their relationship and like they are really in it for the win. Which is how they came to the conclusion to buy the house together. With the keys to her new home in hand, Nova pushed open the front door, taking in her new home. It was a simple house. Originally it was built in 1950 but it had been renovated in 2015 to make it more appealing to the general public. A family bought it right after it went on the market and they lived there for a little over three years before they sold the house as well. Nova wasn’t quite sure why they sold the house, but it was going for a good price and there wasn’t much work to be done so she bought it. It was a simple two-bedroom one-bathroom house with kitchen tucked in the back along with a small nook the previous family used as a dining room. Each bedroom had a sizable closet and enough room for a queen-sized bed to fit comfortably. Down below in the basement was a washer and dryer. There was no garage for the car but there was a driveway, so Nova didn’t mind. The kitchen was remodeled and now had all the newer appliances, the heater and air conditioner were in great shape, and all the plumbing was new. She didn’t think it could get any better. Calvin wasn’t thrilled with the house but considering the fact that it was Nova who paid for it all, he didn’t get a say. Nova squealed as she saw all their boxes and furniture sitting in the empty space that would soon be their living room. In her joy, she spun around and threw her arms around Calvin.

“This place is perfect!” She kissed his cheek before she ran into her new home, her fingers running over the walls. They would be making so many memories here and she couldn’t wait to get started on that. “The internet guy said he would be here tomorrow to get started on hooking all of that up for us.” She whispered, feeling arms wrap around her waist.

“You really like this place don’t you Nova?” Calvin asked, kissing the side of her neck.

“Of course I do!” She spun around to face him and wrapped her arms around his neck. “This place is perfect. Especially since I get to share it with you.” She gave him a quick peck on the lips before she slipped out of his arms and went to look at all the boxes. “Now, you know what would make this place even more perfect?”

Calvin, already knowing her answer, rolled his eyes. Just to humor her, he asked, “what’s that?”

“You help me with these boxes. I need your muscles.” She laughed and made her way to the large pile of boxes cluttering the new house

Nova dropped down onto the couch and sighed deeply. “I am so glad you could move the big stuff.”

“Oh, I’m sure you could have done it too my love.” Calvin came to sit next to her, pulling her feet onto his lap. “What else do we have to do to make this place amazing?”

Nova thought it out, wondering just what this place was missing. It had the charm, clearly. It now had furniture. The internet and phone would be set up tomorrow. Besides some little décor items, she didn’t see anything missing. “I don’t think it needs anything.” She smiled up at him.

Calvin hummed in thought before he shook his head. “I think it’s missing something.”

“Really? What is it?” She asked, suddenly worried she had forgotten something important.

“We need to make some memories here,” he whispered, moving her feet off of his lap and onto the floor as he began to crawl on top of her, “and I know just the one to start with.”

Nova and Calvin laid in bed, her playing with his fingers and him playing with her hair. “You know I love your hair,” Calvin whispered as he twirled the strands around his fingers. “Love the color, love the curls, love the smell.”

“You’re so weird.” Nova laughed and pushed his hand away from her. “You really love the color though?” Nova had grown up in a very beachy city where everyone always had beautiful blonde, beach wavy hair. Nova had dark brown, very close to black, hair and some of the craziest curls you’d ever seen. Hermione has nothing on her. So, of course, this was an insecurity she had growing up, knowing she didn’t look like all the other girls she knew and went to school with. Once she reached 15, she bleached her hair and she was blonde for a while, but she didn’t like it. Took a major change for her to realize that she likes her hair the way it always was. Of course she can still get insecure about it which might be the reason Calvin seemed to mention how much he loved it so often.

“Course I do. I love everything about you.” Calvin kissed her cheek and smiled, pulling her close to his chest. “I happen to think you’re perfect.”

The first few nights in the house were amazing, to say the least. Nova loved every second of it and once the internet had been hooked up, she loved it even more. Nova had been working for the local newspaper for the last few years, writing stories and such. Her real dream was to be an author but for now, the newspaper was great. She hardly had to go to an office to work which was great. She could stay home in her pajamas as long as she wanted. Life was good. She had a great boyfriend, a job she loved, and now she had an amazing house that was all hers. Really, she couldn’t think of anything that could go wrong. Ok, she could think of a lot of things that could go wrong but she didn’t want to dwell on the bad things that could happen. She wanted to focus on the good things that had already happened. Her and Calvin got started making memories right away, planning for the future, discussing repainting the walls, and even adding another room. So far, things seemed perfect. Of course Nova couldn’t stop the nagging words that seemed to creep into her mind constantly. Calvin worked for a tow truck company, so he was often gone during the days and even was on call during the night. It made life a little harder knowing that sometimes she could wake up at two in the morning and find his side of the bed empty. She knew he would never leave her for someone else or anything like that, but it didn’t stop the worries. After all, back when Nova was 18 and Calvin was 20, they were on a break and he slept with some girl. The fight the two had was huge and there had been a lot of yelling. Nova cried more that night than she had in the past month. Calvin yelled at her for thinking that because they were on a break that meant they couldn’t see other people. It wasn’t that Nova thought he couldn’t see someone new, she just didn’t think he would do that the day of their break up. That was their longest break up as the two were separated for about six months. Calvin spent those six months with the girl he had slept with and Nova spent them on her own, going to school to get her mind off of whatever the love of her life was doing. After their break, Calvin came back to Nova and asked if they could get back together. It was no surprise when Nova agreed and soon, they were back to acting like lovesick teenagers. However, their relationship was never the same after that. Nova was always worried that one wrong move would cause Calvin to leave her. She never brought up their break anymore because whenever she did, Calvin would go off on her. That wasn’t the worst for her though. Whenever Nova asked if he had been seeing someone else, he would begin yelling at her and blaming her for being worried and not trusting him. Sometimes when he really wasn’t in a good mood, he would break up with her. Nova knew this wasn’t how most relationships worked but this was hers and she wanted it to last. So, she put up with it. She put up with the yelling and the fighting and the constant breakups.

A sudden sound brought Nova from her thoughts, causing her to spin around in her chair and look for the source of the noise. It sounded like a door or a window had slammed closed. That didn’t make any sense to her. There had been no open doors or windows, at least not that she knew of. She carefully stood, adjusting the waistband of her shorts before she began wandering around the house. Nova kept her eyes peeled for anything that looks like it could have been an open door or window. She stopped at each door and window, checking everything she could find. It seemed like nothing had been opened so she made her way back to her seat. Right as she sat down, she heard a loud crash and she spun around. There on the floor behind her was a broken vase. Glass and water scattered the floor. That vase hadn’t been anywhere near the edge of the table. She made sure of that because she was pretty clumsy. If anything breakable was too close to an edge of a table or anything else, would end up on the floor with Nova around. With a soft sigh, she made her way over to the broom and dustpan and began sweeping up the glass. Something wasn’t right about this. It was just her in the house so how on earth did something like this happen? She carefully dumped the glass and did one last check of the floor before returning to her seat. She started to work on her assignment for the paper again when it began to get very cold. “What the hell?” She whispered to herself and took note that she could see her own breath now. This wasn’t right. Something was off and she didn’t like it. Nova began to do some digging online, looking for an answer to what all of this could mean. Random sounds, falling vases, and now a sudden chill to the room? What the fuck is this? It didn’t take Nova long to find her answer. “Ghosts?” That makes no sense because ghosts aren’t real. Ghosts and demons and witches are not real. Sure there are people that claim they can do magic but they’re either liars or they’re crazy. Nova quickly shut her laptop and step away from the desk. She needed to clear her mind and get out of this house for a minute.

She threw on some clothes she wouldn’t mind being seen in and made her way outside, making sure to lock the door before she left. She stuffed her hands in her pockets as she began walking. She had no idea where she was going but she knew she just needed to clear her head. She had to get this paper done by tomorrow and she wasn’t going to be able to do that if she was worried about something that doesn’t exist. At the end of the street, Nova could see a book store and she decided that would be a good place to go. She could always use new books to read. Within a few minutes, she made her way inside and began wandering the aisles, not really looking for anything in particular. At the very back of the room, she saw a glass case that was locked. Curiosity got the best of her and she took a look at what was inside. On the shelves in the case were tarot cards, books on spells and astrology, and right in the middle was a Ouija Board. At first, she rolled her eyes at the discovery but the more she thought about it, the more she wanted to buy the board. Ghosts aren’t real so if she got the board it really wouldn’t mean anything, but she could test it out and see if maybe, possibly, there was something in her house. No, that’s absurd. She doesn’t need one because there is no such thing as ghosts. She quickly turned around and made her way out of the store, not wanting to waste any more time here. Nova kept her head down as she walked home, not wanting to see anything that could make her think of ghosts or anything else that isn’t real.

After struggling to get the key into the lock, she finally made it inside and took a look around the place. Nothing seemed to be out of place so she could only assume she was overreacting.

The rest of the first week in the house went smoothly. Nothing fell and broke and there were no more slamming doors. Calvin had really grown to like the place and Nova couldn’t be happier. It was pretty obvious when she first bought the house that he didn’t like it but now it must have grown on him. It was nice having her own place with her boyfriend. Before this, the two were in a one-bedroom apartment in the middle of downtown. There was never any peace and silence and her neighbors were quite the party animals. Now that they lived in a nice little neighborhood, they didn’t have to worry about any of that. So far, the only downside was it was a further walk to the city hall where the newspaper had their office, not that Nova minded. Walking was one of her favorite things to do so a long walk just meant more time. So even the downside was good to her. This place was perfect.

“I’ll see you when you get home,” Nova mumbled and gave Calvin one last kiss as she waved him off to go to work. She stood in the doorway until he was out of sight and then she began making herself some breakfast. Calvin liked to pick up food when he had an early call so most days, she had breakfast alone.

With the bacon in the pan and the waffle iron heating up, she was almost ready to have an amazing breakfast when she could have sworn she saw movement out of the corner of her eye. Did Calvin forget something and he needed to come back? She poked her head around the corner and when she didn’t see anyone, she frowned and went back to her bacon. That was really odd but of course it could have just been the curtains moving. There was no reason to think it could have been anything different. With a shake of her head, she finished making her breakfast and took her seat at the dining table. She would admit that sometimes it was lonely being the only person in the house, but Nova had grown used to it. Growing up her parents were always at work since they didn’t have the best financial status. Her mother was working her way up in a company and her father ran a burger joint by the beach. They managed to make it each month but sometimes it was hard. When it was too cold or a bad surfing day, her father’s restaurant didn’t do very well so the winter months were the hardest. Nova learned that she wouldn’t get everything she wanted but she had everything she needed and she couldn’t thank her parents enough for that. They were always so supportive of her and even when it was hard to make ends meet, they made sure their little girl had everything she needed. She played with the bacon on her plate as she remembered all those lonely after school days when her parents weren’t home when she thought she heard something. She stopped playing with her food and strained her ears to listen to what she thought she heard. “I miss bacon.” She whipped her head around to look behind her since it seemed like the voice was so close to her ear. However, no one was behind her. Of course, no one was there. She’s alone in the house so there shouldn’t be anyone else talking but she heard it. Someone or something said that they missed bacon. She must be going crazy, that had to be it. She rubbed her face and sighed, wondering if all of her ghost fears from earlier in the week had come back to haunt her. Ha, haunt. Nova giggled at her own wording and stood but she heard more talking.

“Oh, you think that’s funny?” She stopped dead in her tracks and held her breath. What the fuck is happening? “Yeah that’s right, be scared of me.” Slowly, she turned around to face the direction of the voice but there was no one there. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a shadow move and, in her fear, the plate slipped from her hands and crashed to the floor. This is insane and it can’t be happening. Ghosts aren’t real so the voice she’s hearing must be her imagination. She carefully began picking up the larger pieces of the plate and her leftover food and as she walked to throw them away, she heard the voice whisper, “cute butt.” That was not her imagination. She could hear it and she knew she wasn’t imagining it anymore. She ran over to her computer, the broken plate forgotten. Quickly, she began searching the records for her house to see if there could be any explanation for this. After a few minutes of searching, she came upon an old newspaper article from 1955.

On March 23 at 11:30pm, a shooting took place on Sunset Road. The fight broke out at around 10 o’clock between two neighboring gangs. What started as a simple fist fight soon grew ugly as one member of the South Side gang pulled a switchblade, threatening the North Side members. The South Side boy was quick to take a slice out of one of the north kids. After that, all hell broke loose. Other boys drew weapons and began to attack one another. The north was not looking too great until their leader, well know James Curtis, pulled a gun and shot the south’s leader, Ashton Irwin. The south took off running and two south members carried Irwin into the house located on 152 Sunset. Irwin’s shot to the chest was fatal and within 15 minutes, he died. Police encourage citizens not to be worried as now with the South Side leader gone, there will be no more gang wars.

Nova stared at her computer screen. So someone died here and now she’s seeing things and hearing voices and all this other crap. Maybe ghosts are real. She slowly closed her laptop and turned to look at her empty, or at least it should be empty, living room. What the hell was she going to do now? The first thing that came to her mind was the Ouija board she saw at the book store. That sounded like a terrible idea but what else was she going to do? So with that, she grabbed her bag and began walking to the book store.

When Nova paid for the board, the old woman ringing her up gave her a dirty look and Nova had never felt so looked down upon. What does this lady know or care about? She could just be using it as décor. Nova also noticed she had gotten a lot of weird looks when she was walking home with it in her arms. This town was full of old ladies, all who probably remember the shooting from 55, who didn’t like anyone that was different. When she finally made it home, the first thing she did was take the board out of the box and set it on her floor. She was never scared of these things because she never believed in them but now that she could only assume ghosts were real, she had to believe in these too. “Swear if I die, I’m gonna kill someone,” Nova mumbled and placed her hands on the board. “Alright um… are there any spirits here?” She waited, expecting something to move her hands and the planchette but nothing happened. “Ok well, if there are any spirits here, I would like to speak with you.” Again, nothing happened. “I promise I just want to talk, I don’t want to hurt you.” Nova rolled her eyes. This was getting ridiculous. The man behind the counter at the bookstore warned her not to antagonize the spirits or threaten them at all but fuck this. “Alright you little bitch, listen up. I know you’re here and you have been fucking with me these past few days and I’m done. Either you talk to me like a fucking grown ass man, Ashton, or leave my fucking house!” She yelled into her living room, breaking the silence. Suddenly, the planchette her hands were on began to move and she was not moving it.

“F…U…C…K…Y…O…U.” Nova glared at the board and huffed.

“Fuck you too pal.” Nova honestly thought that something else would have happened to her for talking to the ghost like this, but she guessed not. This ghost was a little bitch. “Why are you even here? You’re dead so just move on.” Nova stared at her hands for a moment and she thought that maybe he wasn’t going to answer but sure enough, her hands began moving again. “I-C-A-N-T. You can't? Well, why not? What’s keeping you here Ashton?” Her hands once again moved but this time it seemed like Ashton the Ghost had a whole story to tell. “I hate to interrupt but this is a little long for spelling. Can I like, talk to you another way? Medium? You want me to get a medium?” When the planchette moved to ‘yes’, Nova sighed. “So I get a medium so I can talk to you and then you will tell me why you won’t leave me alone and how I can get you to leave?” When nothing moved and her hands still rested on the word ‘yes’ she took it as confirmation. “Fine. Bye bitch.” Once the planchette was resting on goodbye, Nova ran to her phone and began calling around. Apparently, there were more mediums in this small town than she ever thought possible. After a few hours of calling, she found a woman by the name Sapphire that was willing to come to her house in less than five minutes. Scrambling, Nova hid the Ouija board in her closet, not sure if Sapphire was a fan of them. Just as Nova left her room, there was a knock at the front door. Quickly, she made her way over and opened it to see Sapphire, who was not who she expected. Sapphire was an older woman who looked to be about 60 or more. She smiled at Nova and made her way inside.

“You said there is a spirit here? And you want to talk to him?” Nova nodded and before she could explain, Sapphire closed her eyes and hummed softly. “Oh, he’s here. He’s saying that he needs your help if you want him to leave you alone.”

“Well, what does he want?”

Sapphire quickly shushed Nova and continued humming. “He says you must kill the man that killed him.”

“What? Hell no! I’m not killing someone just because some dead guy wants me to.” Nova huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. “Stupid ass dead dude.”

“Or, he said you can find a way to bring him back so he can do it himself.” Sapphire opened her eyes and turned to face Nova. “I can’t help you with that though. You see, I can speak to the dead and I can even see them, but I am no witch that can bring them back. I can, however, do something else for you.” Before Nova could ask what this woman had planned, Sapphire grabbed Nova’s face in her hands and began to whisper. Nova had no clue what she was saying but she did know that it wasn’t in English. Moments later, Sapphire made her way to the door. “Good luck finding help Nova.” And with that, she left.

“What the fuck kind of name is Nova?” A deep, masculine voice said behind Nova, causing her to spin around. There, standing by the kitchen entry, was a man. He was dressed in a leather jacket and jeans with his hair slicked back.

“Who are you?” Nova yelled and threw a book at him, but it passed right through his body. The two stared at each other and in amazement, and horror, Nova carefully made her way closer to the man.

“You can see me? You can hear me?” He asked as he also began to move towards Nova.

“You must be Ashton Irwin, the ghost that’s ruining my life.”

“The one and only,” said Ashton with a smirk. “Nice to meet you.”

You’re basically sacrificing yourself for others and that’s not okay for you.

55. Share a relationship story. This one time my ex partner drove me home on the fourth of July and no one else had been driving on the highway at that time. We were holding hands and listening to Celine Dion and I kept pointing out all the fireworks I could see from the highway with this childlike amazement. It was a movie moment and I have enough of those to fill a book. It was the beginning of a wild adventure, one that I’m sure I could’ve continued on for a very long time.

State 8 facts about your body 1) I have scars on my shoulders from a severe sunburn. 2) I have a freckle on my left wrist (heard from twitter that’s really gay) 3) I have a small triangular scar on my right hand from burning myself on the oven. 4) My shoulders are covered in freckles. 5) My eyes are “green with gold specks” 6) I’m somewhere around 5′7 or 5′8 7) My hair is naturally a dark blonde, but I’ve dyed it black and or brown for the past four years. 8) I had my hair chemically straightened when I was twelve. I did it twice, it was a long and painful process. I did it due to bullying and have since grown to learn how to deal with my wavy hair.

58. What are five ways to win your heart? 1) Trust. Being able to trust you and know you aren’t going to just up and walk away one day. Knowing I can count on you, that we will both be here and amp each other up or celebrate each other’s accomplishments. 2) Attentive. Listening to everything you have to say and you listening to what I have to say. 3) Learning and growing together. Someone who over time wants to grow with me, not against me or before me or worrying about my life or what my next move is. Let me grow and let yourself grow and we will grow beautifully together. 4) Loyalty. Betrayal sucks. 5) This sounds really dumb but common interests are super important. I hope the next person I date likes the same stuff I do. That’s always worked out for me.

60. What is the biggest age difference between you and any of your partners? I think two years. In my last relationship we were about 16 months apart in age. So I guess not quite two. But usually it’s two years older or two years younger.

Now I’m most comfortable identifying with the term agnostic theistic since long story short I’m not against the concept of a higher being, I believe things happen for a reason, I’ve always believed in energies, which can be connected to meditation and praying. I’m currently researching wicca and witchcraft though I’m probably far off from identifying with either of those. Oops that was long I have a lot of thoughts.

15. five most influential books over your lifetime.

Oh, boy. That’s not an easy one, is it? I’ve read way too many books. XD

OK, this list has to start with the Last Herald-Mage trilogy by Mercedes Lackey. IIRC, LHM had been recommended to me by an English teacher in 8th grade, along with Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern series and another series that I don’t think I ever actually read? Looking back--and considering that this was in 1991/1992--those were really bold recommendation choices. LHM’s protagonist is gay, and gay couples are present in the Pern series, too (though I’m not certain I recognized them as such back then). Anyway, the point is that LHM entered my life at a time when I was totally open to whatever I was reading and would accept world-building choices without question. Vanyel loved boys? OK. *shrug* I just accepted it, lock, stock, and barrel. Sure the characters in the story gave him a hard time for it, but the author clearly thought it was OK, so clearly it was OK, and I just ran with that. And I didn’t realize until much later what a HUGE life-altering thing that was. And it happened so quietly, I didn’t even realize it had happened. Non-straight people existed, they were valid, and their stories were worth telling. I don’t even have the words to describe how utterly huge that was for 13 year old me, but IT WAS.

(Side note: There is another thing that I accepted lock, stock, and barrel from ML’s books, as well as a few others I loved with similar characters that were NOT so healthy, too: a) overworking yourself to the point of exhaustion and collapse is the sign of a hero, and b) being willing to sacrifice the things you want for the greater good/so the people around you can be happy is definitely the Way To Be. And since vet school reinforced those mindsets LIKE NOBODY’S BUSINESS, I ended up with a really significant martyr complex that I’ve only recently begun to realize within the last 5 years or so is SUPER UNHEALTHY. So... YIKES. -.-;;;)

This isn’t a book, so it might be cheating, but as far as life-altering stories go, fair game by @myrmidryad has to go on the list. First of all, it’s just flat out AMAZING (the whole series is, for that matter), and I highly recommend it. Second of all, my journey didn’t exactly parallel Courfeyrac’s in this story, but the realizations he had throughout the story struck enough chords in me that reading them helped me figure out that I was asexual, too. And that had been a realization I’d been dancing around for months, at that point, but still never seriously thought I’d land on. But after reading this fic, not only did I finally managed to land, but I managed to ground and stabilize there, as well as, start coming to terms with it. And that was just as huge as the realization I had over LHM in 8th grade--it was just that this one happened with a bang instead of a whimper. ;D

Every horse book ever written by Marguerite Henry. ^_^ I was horse-crazy as a kid and horse-crazy as a young adult and though I really can’t ride anymore because of my back, I’m still horse-crazy, now. But thanks to these books, I ended up at horseback riding camp where I met two of the best friends I’ve ever had. ^_^

Snow Dog (and many of his other dog books, but especially that one) by Jim Kjelgaard. Same basic story, here as with Marguerite Henry. I loved this book SO MUCH when I was young. I completely wore out the spine I re-read it so often. If you had told me as a child that I could only keep one book out of my (even at the time) extensive collection, it would have been this one, hands down. I don’t honestly even know why it affected me so profoundly, but it did. And it and Marguerite Henry’s books were definitely two of the influences that set me on the path to veterinary medicine, so that definitely can’t be discounted. ^_^

And... now I’m in the same position you were in @takethewatch. WHAT DO WITH 5TH SPOT. O_o;;; THERE IS TOO MUCH. But I think ultimately, it has to be Tamora Pierce’s Wild Magic and the Lioness Quartet that go here. For, ironically, wildly opposing reasons. I read Wild Magic when I was in early high school and still very deep in my horsiest horse-crazy mode. Girl who communes so deeply with horses that she practically becomes one and talk to all animals? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP. But what hit me so hard about Daine’s story and Alanna’s both was this: that scene where Daine was told that it was OK to give up her skirts, to give up the things that are considered traditionally feminine, and that Alanna flat out gave up being a girl entirely for the right to pursue her dream, because at the time, I was still very much a tomboy. I loved to dance, but that that about the only feminine thing I did. In fact, I felt SO strongly against all things feminine, that if I’d grown up now, instead of then, I might have identified as agender or nonbinary. Looking back on it, it’s also possible that that was a bit of internalized misogyny at work, maybe a little bit of bb!aro/ace me peeking up from under the covers, but I’d never really felt comfortable or interested in most things that were coded as feminine, so I don’t know. Anyway, that was thing number one: that there were heroines out there who rejected the feminine and weren’t punished for it by the story. Here’s the second: that Alanna decides in the third book that she DOES like some feminine things and even more than that, it’s OK that she likes some feminine things. She isn’t any less a warrior. She isn’t any less respected. She isn’t any less a badass. She’s still her... she just occasionally likes to wear dresses. And that was HUGE for me. That I could be a tomboy and still prefer all the scrub around in the dirt things that I did and still not be genteel and fragile and feminine... but if I wanted to wear a dress or a skirt because I liked the feel of it swirling around me... THAT WAS OK and it didn’t commit me to being a girly-girl. And that was something I desperately needed to hear at the time--that there is no wrong way to be female. You can prefer pants and still occasionally want to wear dresses and really it’s just about what makes you comfortable; it doesn’t change who you are inside, whoever that is.

20. would you rather be in Middle Earth, Narnia, Hogwarts, or somewhere else?

Between the three, I’d have to say Hogwarts, for the sole reason that I’d get to have magic and yet would still get to keep my technology, the Internet, and Broadway, too. ;D

25. could you live as a hermit?

For short periods of time, yeah, I think I could, and quite happily. I’d love to have a little cottage out somewhere in a forest clearing with lots of growing things around me, enjoying a much simpler, grounded kind of life. But ultimately, I need people, too. And all those modern conveniences I mentioned above. ^_~ So, while that life sounds HIGHLY appealing as a sabbatical from reality, I wouldn’t want it to be my everyday life. ^_^

For Asgard (Chapter 24/?)

Summary: What if Odin had banished Loki to Earth instead of Thor? The story of how you, the Reader, meet and help Loki on his quest to return to Asgard.

One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Eight Nine Ten Eleven Twelve Thirteen Fourteen Fifteen Sixteen Seventeen Eighteen Nineteen Twenty Twenty-One Twenty-Two Twenty-Three

Thanks to the special permission given by Frigga, you were granted the luxury of being able to leave the palace the following day to explore the golden city of Asgard itself.

It's just as beautiful as you remember it.

You stroll down the immaculate cobblestone streets and meet very friendly locals along the way to the grand marketplace. It is here that you hope to find a small, yet perfect gift to bring back for Loki. A little something to represent a new beginning. To maybe, finally, leave the past in the past and start again. As new people.

As you pass a stand selling golden apples, you spot the jackpot you were looking for – a table of wonderfully timeworn Asgardian books! You scour through each stack, looking for just the right one. Oh, look! This one looks particularly appropriate. It's about a suave, trouble-seeking knight and his kind, but kickass princess and their various adventures on the run.

After you pay the kind woman behind the table (with the generous amount of money Thor insisted on giving you for your time here), you're about to turn back to get a better look at those golden delicious apples (pun intended) when an odd and familiar voice floats in the air behind you.

“You will be consumed...”

A little wiry haired woman walks behind you in passing and looks back to make eye contact with you. It's the old hag. The sketchy old broad who rightly predicted everything that has happened since you met her.

Even the Aether as it would seem.

Because initially, you had thought the final words of her prophecy had meant you were consumed with love for Loki. If only you'd known how literal the hag's words would be...

“Hey!”

Her witchy smile turns up and when you make a step towards her, she bolts through a crowd of people. You apologize while pushing your way through all the bodies, but you need to catch this witch. You demand answers! Could this have been prevented? How could she know all this? Was she always watching you?

The little old witch runs with the speed of horse as she leads you through a maze of dark Asgardian streets. Now you're gaining! You might just catch her!

Rounding the next corner a little too fast, your foot catches on a stone poking up from the road and you stumble into a tall body.

“Oof!” says the stranger.

“I am... so sorry. I should have been looking where-” You look up at what is the most gorgeous, towering blonde woman you've ever seen. Does Asgard have supermodels here, too? I mean, come on! The true beauty looks down at you with her jade green eyes and says, “Sweetie, you must be careful. That crazed witch lives just yonder. Come with me away from this district.”

“But I need to ask her something! I have to know-”

“That thing is positively a loon,” the woman insists with a laugh and pulls you by the hand back the way you came. “Pay no attention to her.” Once re-entering the marketplace again, she furrows her brow at you for a second in thought.

“Are you not the mortal woman taking refuge in the palace?”

“Yes, but how did you-?”

“Word travels fast around here. Trust me.” Her smile and charm is almost too dazzling. But in a good way, you think. Maybe you'll get to have an Asgardian friend while you're here! Besides Thor, of course.

“Are you be heading back to the palace? I happen to have a business matter to attend there, myself,” she says sweetly. “Would you accompany me?”

So delightful.

“Absolutely!” you agree. “Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't get your name.” You tell her yours first for good measure. If you had blinked, you would have missed a split second of a curious expression appear on her face as you do so, but you have no clue as to why.

“Pleasure to meet you,” she says, tossing her blonde locks back. “I am Amora of Asgard.”

When you ladies reach the palace, all the guards whom you pass along the way to the Great Hall bow their heads slightly to Amora and ogle her as she saunters by. Who is she? One of the guards escorts her to Odin and Frigga at an epic battle strategy table.

“My liege,” he says, “I present you, Amora.”

The All-Father lights up. Well, as much as this grump can, but it's all too apparent to you.

“Amora!” Frigga says at seeing the blonde bombshell. “We have not seen you for centuries! My, how you have grown!”

“Frigga, my Queen,” Amora takes the Queen's hands in hers, “It has been forever and a day.”

“We must throw a feast in honour of your arrival. Tonight!” Odin says with proud finality.

How come she gets a feast upon arrival?

“Please, my King, it is not necessary,” Amora politely tries to decline. “I have come to humbly ask the All-Father a dire favour.”

“Feast with us and I shall listen,” Odin says firmly. “Guards, show our lovely Amora to the finest guest chambers.”

I take it I'm not in the 'finest guest chambers'...

“Thank you, good Odin,” she says, “but I do believe I still recall where they are.” Amora turns and gives you a quick wink. You can't help but jog a few steps to catch up her out of the Great Hall.

“How do they know you so well?” you can't help but ask. And like you so damn much? Who are you? Amora gives you a cheeky side glance.

“I used to, what do you mortals say? Date? Yes, I used to date the Prince of Asgard.”

Wow, I wonder why Thor let her go? You can only imagine the incredibly blond babies they could have had.

“You used to date Thor? Well, he is a pretty nice guy.”

There's something funny in the way Amora laughs.

“No, Sweetie, I used to date Loki.”

Thank the gods dinner is over.

Yes, the food was amazing, but the whole thing was weird as hell. Amora barely ate anything, while Thor stuffed his face like a wild animal beside you (except with him at least you found it endearing, unlike Odin at the head of the table – yikes). You could tell Amora was looking for an in to ask Odin about her supposed favour, but could never time it right. She sat across from you so you had kept a watchful eye on her all evening. More than once, her delicate foot brushed against yours under the table, to which she would keep uttering, “Apologies, Sweetie.” It also felt like Thor was trying his hardest to not pay any attention to the head-turning woman.

“Now, dear Amora,” Odin says, wiping the cooked boar off his beard. “Please enlighten me of this favour you spoke of earlier.”

“All-Father, my sister is in grave danger. More so than in the past...” Amora explains. “She has been taken by the Dark Elf known as Malekith. I know not what he wants with Lorelei, but-”

“The Dark Elves are dead,” Odin states coldly, while Thor shudders at the name Lorelei.

“Pardon my saying so, my Lord, but you are wrong. He has her and though we have had our many quarrels as sisters, she is just that. My sister. I must see her safe and I come to the house of Odin to seek your help against this fiend.”

Odin ponders stoically. It's difficult to read him. Finally, he speaks, “As I have said, the Dark Elves are dead.” The King gets up from the table and takes his leave. Frigga departs too, but not before smiling apologetically to Amora. To avoid the awkward air, you slip away to your chambers leaving Thor with the woman. Maybe he would speak to his father for her?

After a relaxing while of letting the food digest, you think now is the perfect time to visit Loki and bring him his gift. Initially, you had wondered how you might actually give him the book, but now a better idea came to mind. You would use the enchanted necklace to visit him in his cell, sit as close to him as possible without touching so as not to disrupt the illusion, and go on to read the book along with him. It was the perfect excuse to spend more time with him. He's probably extremely lonely in there all by himself. And surely he's come to terms with his mistakes from the past.

Right?

And in addition to the gift-giving, you will make sure to subtly ask Loki about this Amora woman. Had he loved her? Had they ever...?

Ugh, why hadn't he ever mentioned her before?

You clutch the book in front of you, unable to contain your growing excitement to see Loki's face when you show him what you've picked out for him. The necklace begins to glow around your neck as the room around you dissolves into to a whole other – the prison cell.

But, but-

But she's already here. Amora. And she's getting horribly close and cozy with Loki though not physically touching. Amora giggles at something Loki may have said and the sound of her laugh is so sickeningly cute that little woodland animals should be frolicking around her.

You feel sick.

She's probably trying to rekindle what she had with him. And by the looks of it, Loki is enjoying her company. How could he not? When she looks like that...? When Loki finally sees you there, he stands up from the table he was leaning against and starts to take a few steps toward to you. Your body goes tense and freezes up.

“I got this for you.” The sentence comes out robotically. “I'll leave.”

“Wait-” Loki says and tries to grab your hand, even though it's pointless. However, he ends up grabbing the book instead, and somehow a transference is made through the object as you dematerialize from the room. Back now in your chambers, mysteriously no longer with the book in hand, you simply stare at the wall for a moment. Soon enough, you find yourself breathing like you're running a marathon even though you're only pacing the floor. You stop and fall back on the bed and stare up at the golden canopy.

You aren't sure to whom you say this, but the words come out a whisper, “Why?”

REVIEWING THE CHARTS 2020: 10/01

So: REVIEWING THE CHARTS 2020. We’ve got the second episode here, and we’ve already stagnated. Hey, I’m not complaining. It’s really boring and we’ve got nothing to talk about with the exception of the top five new arrival, but let’s agree that we’d really not want to talk about that one either. Here’s the top 10.

Top 10

Stormzy’s “Own It” featuring Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran is still at the top for its second week at #1. I can’t really see a threat to this as of yet, but we’ll see.

“Before You Go” by Lewis Capaldi hasn’t moved at number-two, the runner-up spot. To be honest, I don’t see this hitting the #1 but the charts are pretty unpredictable right now, so I can’t decide as of yet.

Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” sticks at number-three. I doubt it’ll get there, but let’s hope this hits #1.

“ROXANNE” by Arizona Zervas is at number-four, the same from last week.

Now for our first and pretty much only headline here, “Yummy” by Justin Bieber, his new song that despite a massive promotional push, only debuted at number-five. You’d figure that Bieber would learn a lesson from Taylor Swift’s “ME!”, which is that pop veterans can’t just release Godawful singles and rely on name recognition anymore in the streaming era, at least enough for a #1. It’s his 45th Top 40 hit if I recall correctly (which is crazy), and about his 17th top 10, and somehow not his worst.

“Dance Monkey” by Tones and I is down one spot to number-six.

Surprisingly up a spot due to... well, seemingly no reason at all, “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi has rebounded up eight spaces to number-seven. It’s been nearly a full freaking year since this song first charted and it won’t go away.

Sadly, due to “Yummy” and “Someone You Loved” rising, Billie Eilish’s “everything i wanted” is down two spots to number-eight but it could very much propel back up next week.

“Adore You” by Harry Styles is also a victim of the two songs, down two to number-nine.

Finally, we have a one-spot boost for “Blinding Lights” by the Weeknd, which has reached #10, marking his ninth top 10 hit in the UK.

Climbers

There are actually a couple here, seemingly from “end-of-year UK hits” YouTube playlists? I don’t know; this happens often after the Christmas songs fade away because there are all of these playlists and different end-of-year commemorations. It would explain “Ride It” by Regard and “Bruises” by Lewis Capaldi both up 12 spaces to #11 and #12 respectively, as well as “Memories” by Maroon 5 up eight spots to #13, “Lose Control” by MEDUZA, Goodboys and Becky Hill up 16 spots to #31, “South of the Border” by Ed Sheeran featuring Camila Cabello and Cardi B up 15 positions to #17, and finally “Circles” by Post Malone up seven spaces to #19. It doesn’t exactly explain “The Box” by Roddy Ricch up 24 spots to #16 though.

Fallers

There are quite a few honestly pretty surprising and unexpected fallers here, once again because of end-of-year commemorations allowing songs from the past year to have some sort of artificial boost. This leaves actual upcoming hit songs pretty much in the dust, such as “Pump it Up” by Endor down eight spots to #14, “This is Real” by Jax Jones featuring Ella Henderson collapsing nine spaces to #18, “Lose You to Love Me” by Selena Gomez tripping down 10 spaces to #20 just to rebound next week because of the album, “My Oh My” by Camila Cabello featuring DaBaby, as well as “Falling” by Trevor Daniel, seemingly losing all of their momentums since they’re down eight and nine spaces respectively to #21 and #23. The same seems to apply for Stormzy and Harry Styles as they’ve had pretty bad weeks: “Audacity” featuring Headie One is down 10 to #26, “Vossi Bop” is down 12 to #24, while “Watermelon Sugar” is down 12 to #29, and “Lights Up” is down 14 to #32. “Don’t Rush” by Young T & Bugsey with Headie One is down 11 to #31, as is “Gangsta” by Darkoo and One Acen at #33. “Heartless” by the Weeknd is also struggling down 13 spaces to #38, which is unfortunate as the song has only grown on me since its debut. Oh, and “In the Unknown” by Idina Menzel and AURORA from the Frozen II soundtrack is down 18 spaces to #37. Yikes.

Dropouts & Returning Entries

The climbers and fallers aren’t the only result of the end-of-year commemorations though, as we do have returning songs straight from the end-of-year list (Which I have ranked and will post on my Twitter as soon as possible). Those are “HIGHEST IN THE ROOM” by Travis Scott and remixed by ROSALIA and Lil Baby back at #25, “I Don’t Care” by Ed Sheeran featuring Justin Bieber at #27, “Beautiful People” by Ed Sheeran featuring Khalid at #28, “Senorita” by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello at #30, “Ladbroke Grove” by AJ Tracey at #36, “Turn Me On” by Riton, Vula and Oliver Heldens at #39 and “Outnumbered” by Dermot Kennedy back at #40. That does mean a hefty list of drop-outs however, including “Lucid Dreams” by Juice WRLD out from #27, “River” by Ellie Goulding thankfully out from #28, “No Cellular Site” by D-Block Europe also thankfully out from #29... in fact, I’m not complaining about any of this really. I can’t be upset about “Better Half of Me” by Tom Walker out from #30, “hot girl bummer” by blackbear out from #35, or even “No Idea” by Don Toliver out from #39. “Netflix & Chill” by Fredo is out from #34, and unfortunately, J Hus had both of his singles from the forthcoming album drop out this week: “No Denying” is out off of the debut from #33, and “Must Be” is out from #37... and that’s all other than the new arrivals, so I’d like to note that despite momentum being slashed in half by all these returns, there are some songs within the UK Top 75 that are promising; not all of them are good, but you can expect these songs from the tail-end of the top 75 debuting in the coming weeks after a good rise, probably even next week: “Up All Night” by Khalid, “Say So” by Doja Cat, “BOP” by DaBaby, “Ballin’” by Mustard featuring Roddy Ricch, “Suicidal” by YNW Melly and “July” by Noah Cyrus. I figured I should start doing this. Now for the new arrivals:

NEW ARRIVALS

#35 – “Savage” – MIST

Produced by Swifta Beater and Zeph Ellis

MIST is back... I guess. I’ve never found MIST very interesting, well, musically – I saw the dude on a really awful ITV2 comedy panel show thing, and he was pretty charismatic, so I have no idea why that’s not present in his music whatsoever. This is his fourth UK Top 40 hit however, and “So High” with Fredo has grown on me a bit since its release, so I figured this could be somewhat interesting... and you know what, MIST might have won me over with this one. The chipmunk vocal samples are catchy and the beat coming in so abruptly after the first line is just perfect. MIST’s content isn’t exactly all that unique, but some of the description of him shooting this man is pretty specific and intimidating. The beat is heavy with plummeting 808s and a sporadic trap drum pattern, and the part in the first verse where after he mentions his gun, a sound effect (Of said gun) plays, and the next line is a pitch-shifted “Cabbage (Bang)”. It’s just really funny, and adds some needed humour to the otherwise pretty menacing song. In fact, all of the three verses in this very short song (2 minutes and 26 seconds) have a really intense delivery from MIST, who really surprised me with his angry cadences and overall emotive performance here. The production is great but the mixing is at times slightly dodgy, so the bass does start clipping, but that’s mostly during the chorus, which is a repetitive vocal sample that does sound good, but at first is somewhat jarring and the sample is way too quiet to work as an anthem. The first two verses follow a strict rhyme scheme that is limiting but MIST makes the most of it, calling himself a “Birmingham assassin”, which again is a comedic turn of phrase to depict something that’s genuinely very dangerous. The third verse does feel out of place but I’d like to say that the rejection of the rhyme scheme and a calmer flow represents him abandoning the “Gangsta all the time” mantra and ideology that runs through the track. It still could sound better if there was some kind of beat switch, and in some way it does make the song seem underdeveloped, especially since the song fades out, which is just a really odd decision that doesn’t fit the song’s mood at all. Still, it’s a good song, a surprising one at that, and definitely my favourite from MIST.

#5 – “Yummy” – Justin Bieber

On January 3rd, Justin Bieber, one of the biggest pop stars of the millennium, a viral star who has been a polarising figure in music for 11 years straight due to legal issues and a tsunami of online hatred. He released the single alongside a music video and a trailer to promote his new documentary, that also was a trailer for the song and his tour. Bieber joined TikTok and encouraged his fans to make TikTok videos of the song, him doing so as well, raking up millions of views not only on the app but on YouTube compilations. Four days later, he released autographed cassettes, autographed picture discs, SIX unique autographed CDs and FIVE unique autographed vinyl records. They were only available for 24 hours. There were also FIVE additional music videos released other than the official music video upon release and the audio. If that wasn’t enough, Billie Eilish suddenly started promoting the song, and soon afterwards, Bieber posted on Instagram a fan-made image asking for his fans to manipulate streaming numbers and get a VPN if they are not in the US, proving that this isn’t just a promotional push, it’s the #1 that Bieber and Scooter Braun want; whether it’s because Braun wanted the #1 to undermine Taylor Swift or because it’s bragging rights and label politics, we don’t know. This meant it was ever so funny when “Yummy” by Justin Bieber debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, below a non-single without a music video, “The Box” by Roddy Ricch, celebrating its first week at #1 with a triumphant “err, ooh”. In fact, it’s never hit #1 in any country at all (As of yet). That’s just a beautiful moment when the entirety of the world unites to refuse streaming this garbage fuel of manufactured, plastic trash with headline-chasing references to Megan Thee Stallion and a falsetto from Bieber that’s as weak as ever. This is as out as touch as pop music could have possibly ever been in 2020. It’s a new decade but it seems like we’re regressing.

Conclusion
