(Whew,I'm glad the parts after the prolouge aren't so long yet give quite a bit of content. Now that I'm rereading his story,I feel like he's getting greener every part. Oh! I kinda speed run this event and I have thoughts: Why are the event cards not related to the event story?? I like the stage outfits! Would have been cool to get cards with them *sad sigh* also was there a 'kiss' option with Simeon and I just chose all wrong options?

I only got to hold hands when we bowed on stage. Tho this interaction with him was pretty cute! Overall I think the event was all over the place and kinda dry. (I feel it may have been a bit more exciting for Mammon stans).

Welp, instead of actually watching Captain Laserhawk itself, I went and scoured through your posts to find a way to fix my AU. I know. Weird thing to do considering what you post. But you've gone and did your job, woman! So here's some things that I looked into because I still tried to take your criticism to do more research on the show and its themes and such (please let me know if I've gotten even one thing wrong):

Dolph barely had a proper childhood and was mainly treated as a weapon ever since he was a teenager, maybe even younger than that. It wasn't until Alex broke him out and… well… y'know… before abandoning him later on.

With Jade (since my AU involves combining the looks and personalities of the characters from their original games and CLH), her CLH personality… clashes with her BG&E counterpart, having more of an extroverted personality and yet being more inexperienced with some things in comparison to BG&E Jade who, while more introverted, has more experience with fighting and such. I'm not sure if I can work with this (I mean, as an ambivert, I'm pretty sure I'm aware of that term), both Jades have been, from what I've read, night and day.

Sarah and Bullfrog are meant to be parallels to each other(?)

According to a post you made, there are also biblical symbolisms that aren't just "America is Eden now, suck it". Alex's betrayal to Dolph is reminiscent of Judas betraying Jesus, and the talk Rayman and Bullfrog had has some resemblance to the forbidden fruit of knowledge. There could be more, but that's all I got from you.

Rayman was meant to be a mascot made for children. You mentioned that Dolph and Alex made him lose his job, but as of writing this, I never looked so deep into that, though from what I presume, maybe it was something not-kid-friendly they did? I also found out that Dolph and Alex encountered NijiRed at some point, so did they lead to the scene where Rayman snapped at the guy? There was a wasteland war at some point and a few of the characters lost their biological parents there O_O

In a reblog you made, I discovered that my AU is actually somewhat similar to Raye's "Orphans of Eden AU" (without the orphans ofc). Jade and Dolph being adopted siblings, Rayman being a double agent of sorts to help the good guys while struggling to keep his job, Pey'j… not… actually being weird towards Jade… there could be more parallels, but it's weird yet interesting that I've made my AU to have some of OoE's elements.

That's the most I've looked into, I might send you more if I do find any, but this is all I have for now :>

I cannot stress enough that if you’re gonna make a CLH au that’s specifically meant as a parody of CLH, you really should watch it (or change it where it’s not a parody but still comedy or whatever). Im assuming Alex isn’t romantically involved with Dolph in the au still? You should probably give the pair a deeper connection since Alex ends up sleeping with Pagan and Dolph catching them is a significant moment

Honestly get it, doesn’t exactly help that Jade has some of the crappest writing in the show. It just depends which version of her you’d prefer exploring (same with Pey’J)

That post is just a theory on Bullfrog’s possible backstory due to him being an Assassin and Sarah being a Templar. There’s stuff that’s likely not going to happen in the actual second season (Bullfrog and Sarah’s mothers being important characters the most likely)

Yep, there’s also themes criticising late stage capitalism and destructive ideologies (such as Alex’s belief in “burning it all to the ground”)

Yes, a commission! In this modern day, can you believe it? I've yet to finish 2 more comms, I hope to finish them this year, honest to god. It's so hard to get a grip on some responsibilities, as I gotta figure stuff out appointment-wise with my driver's exams, psychologist-stuff abt my diagnosis still, and ofc, deal with the fact, that I gotta babysit my coworkers (not exaggerating, I keep being bugged on my weekends about my coworkers over some random annoying stuff they didn't wanna do under the normal work-week), and continue to study for tests and finish a presentation until next week.

^As you can tell, it's a bit stressful lately, which is why I had difficulty drawing at home, getting out of bed, to add with cramps post-work, hip- and knee pain in my bones, migraines. it all stacks up, and it doesn't help, that I lately had a spike in my ADHD seemingly acting up again. Been unable to concentrate, been getting overwhelmed, been having some EXTREME time-blindness. It's a bit hard with life lately. :")

It probably makes sense, why I was absent for a good bit. I ache a lot physically, and mentally lately and just. A. LIFE. I DO NOT LIKE IT. BUT MUST SURVIVE IT.

I again, tried something different with the lighting here, being a more direct-light source! I tried to make the lights look harsher, and I think this isn't too bad! Again, in hindsight of 2024, months later, shoulda proooobs made the shading sharper in appearance, still looks too soft, for direct-light hitting this floppy fellow. And also, added a drop-shadow for Heath near the lighting. Dear god, I wish I wouldn't make so many mistakes aaaa.

But oh well, that's what passage of time is, growing up, sucking up mistakes, trying to rid of your perfectionism.

I was still trying to figure out my style, i didnt know if i want to draw closer to the canon style or just make up my own shit its all pretty inconsistent ghhhh. I even added some panels from the first few pages I made with no script (IT SUCKED SO BAD) and just a vague idea for the story 🗿 AND I DIDNT EVEN DRAW BGS I JUST BLURRED SCREENSHOTS RAHHH

Also Sam was barely even a character at this point, she was super basic in the story unlike Brandon but I mean at that point he was an oc I've had for 5+ years at that point and she was just. The girlfriend.

Some thoughts now that I have finished it (and knowing there's going to be a patch to fix some bugs I had).

Gameplay: yeah, it's more action and can be repetitive, but anyone who struggled that literally is a skill issue.

The writing as a whole is fine. There are heavy-handed clunky parts, and things I wish could have been dealt with better or in a way that wasn't so jarring but it is what it is. The game is for a wider audience and you need to make your point clear. Please stop making games for people who are new when it's the 4th title of a continuing series. The writing wouldn't be as clunky then!

I also have my own issues with how some of the trans stuff was handled. Again, awkward writing both using modern terms that don't feel like make sense in the setting, but you have to make it clear for people who might not know (or try to deny what it is). There is no easy way around that. And this is just me personally: Rook seems to have had a few extra options when it came to talking about their experiences of being trans, but none felt close to mine, which did suck a bit. I get that always knowing your trans (maybe? More so nonbinary) isn't actually a common experience, but it's also not just a stereotype a lot of fiction used to use. I also am also just tired of coming out stories, more so about younger people. There should always be more, but I'd love more queer stuff about people my age.

Also, I'm sorry you want a full role play experience, but then you can't really have a voiced protag. And I don't mind a silent protag! But you're going to get better voice work if the character has a least somewhat of a defined personality. Erika (American feminine voice) did a great job, and I feel like them being able to be more set in how Rook would act made it better. I also do like I could pitch their voice down even if I wish I could have more control over that pitch like in SaintsRow.

I do miss having three party members, and was a pro and con I felt the need to change up who came with me all the time.

After romancing Josephine in Inquisition, it was nice to be able to have my LI with me for a good chunk of the game and her calling me "love" in my party during the final push. ;;

After DA2 with it's rushed end and BG.3 that felt like they didn't really bother with act three, it was nice that the game was written with the end in mind! It didn't feel like a huge letdown, or like nothing I did mattered. A game that's actually finished SHOULDN'T be surprising, and yet here we are.

Manfred and Assan are perfect, and I have no notes there.

It's honestly for me a solid 7.5 given the rough start, some of the mechanics, and my own nitpicking like some of the animations/lip syncing (but it's not like they've ever been good at that). It's still fun overall and still DA.

Still upset someone does HAVE to die, and I figured that going in. I hate that the choice is the one black guy (and Assan ;;) or Harding who you've spent two games with and might be more attached to because of it. Me and a friend romance both, and I'm SO happy I saw Spoilers because I would have been so fucking mad if my LI died and happy to give my friend the heads up too (but just the choice to make, not the consequences). I just wish after doing LITTERALLY everything everyone could live.

I think aespa fans have the right to be mad for a lot of things one of them being one of the bg meber being a nepotism kid but everybody being fine with thar while giselle still gets hated for made up nepotism rumors. There is only 2.5 years difference between aespas debut and this one and now we can see that sm rushed aespa debut even though they had a lot of time to complete everything. Riize getting music show promotions for pre release and getting 2 pre release at that and now this physical album,I don't remember if nct had a physical album for their debut but red velvet certainly did and so did aespa. Aespa actually had 3 back to back digital singles to that sucked along with little to no content and promo. Even now they don't have a full album and all mys are scared that sm is gonna put the rest of the concert tracks in the new mini. If sm rushes the nggs debut and only gives them a digital single then we can all conclude that they are sexist mfs. And yes they did have a press release something along the lines that ride topped some chart and aespa fell below them which made the fans rightfully angry

i never said aespa fans don't have the right to be angry i literally said you're right to be angry over aespa's treatment and im on your side with that. im just against holding a grudge against another group simply because they got better treatment during a debut. they can't control what the company does just as much as aespa can't. wayv didn't have a comeback for close to two years and ten was out of the country for 9ish months and winwin was gone for 1.5 years. we didn't get any full group content for so long (and we still barely get any) and yangyang even said that at one point was worried because he didn't know if wayv would ever even come back. they still barely get anything compared to 127/dream in terms of cbs and tours and yet i don't hold it against the other units. the press release sounds to me like they were just saying riize has performed well so far in some metric and then using another well charting sm group as point of reference. that's nothing personal against aespa, its just how companies run they will always compare their groups. and in the case of charts, saying one sm artist charted high and surpassed another is not an attack on aespa, its just an objective analysis of the current positions of their artists in a constantly changing chart ranking. and as for of them being a nepotism kid, i've definitely seen him getting hate for it on twt. and are mys also mad at sunny for being lee soman's niece and chris lee's cousin? or is it just anton. the nepotism thing is going to follow all three of them for the rest of their careers and personally im not going to let it bother me. i like to embrace those types of things with humor because getting mad isn't going to erase it so i'd rather just have fun with it. as for the smngg, i full heartedly hope the ngg gets as good of a debut as riize, but im not going to spend my time worrying about hypothetical scenarios in the unknown future, it just adds extra suffering. we'll get there when we get there.

the annoying thing about this game is that there were a couple of really bad turnovers. not intercepted pass turnovers but just possessions where we throw the ball away, out of bounds. complete miscommunication. and if we had kept those possessions and converted even half of them, the last few minutes would have played out very differently.

I don't have a normal 9-5 so my hours are whatever I want so 🤷‍♀️ and just because of that my weeks looks incredible different to the ones of my friends, I will be doing the most random things at the most random times and I Can't imagine what my life would look like if in addition to the time I had access to the same kind of money they have.

Sooooo many fans try to kill fun headcanons just because they don’t want to “give antis ammo” or whatever. It’s like they forget two key things: 1. Fandom is fun 2. Antis are gonna fucking hate us anyway

I have a large group of friends who are all as positive as me and we just share fun headcanons and try to puzzle stuff out in the most low key and low risk to our mental health way possible. I block hate anon pretty liberally. I don’t go looking for anyone who is doing anything I don’t care to engage with. If I see people getting sucked into discourse or spiraling into unhealthy behaviors when it comes to doomsdaying away I go in the OPPOSITE direction of it.

I watched “rad Louies” become a thing because fans were convinced Louis was being sabotaged in 2017 and rolled my eyes and continued on in my lane, writing fic and figuring that everything would be okay and now 5 years out I can pretty confidently say I believe there’s a lot of evidence Louis cut the promo himself on Back to You and his Epic contract because he didn’t like the musical direction he was going in.

I watched fandom tie themselves into knots over and over again with Harry’s stunts and have just shrugged and carried on because it’s not my life and not my job to worry about what Harry is choosing to do with his life.

I learned in May 2015 when fandom tried to “change the narrative about party boy Louis” that we as fans don’t actually have control at all. 1DHQ worked really hard to give us that illusion that we were all powerful and we had control on the marketing decisions etc but guess what? No one TALKED about Briana openly when Louis got papped with her in May. No one shared pap pics on tumblr. And yet we STILL GOT BG. We bitched and moaned and debunked left right and center and yet they CONTINUED ON.

As a fan my only job is to have fun. I have fun by trying to work out timelines and make up cute headcanons. My headcanons aren’t hurting anyone and despite what antis think I really don’t care if I’m right or wrong lol hell I’ll be the first to admit that I get shit wrong a lot. *gestures towards my guess that Louis was doing something May 25th when it turned out to be an error on his poster (which is a whole other issue but whatever) and that Steve Aoki might make an appearance at Louis’ Vegas show (which turned out to be that Louis showed up at HIS show)*

I’m having a blast. If my headcanons get debunked oh well I move on. Fandom is supposed to be fun! Be in it because you enjoy it and you HAVE FUN! If you aren’t having fun maybe… find something else to do?

It's a kind of "both sides" with Marianne, with the added twist that no, the Nabatean who was eaten has no part to play, but it's all caused by Momo and the asses who randomly blame Marianne for what he did eons of years ago -

Like, if Momo wasn't an ass and wasn't happily slaughtering everything with his Nabatean Femur he called a sword, maybe he wouldn't be remembered as a butcher, and maybe, wouldn't have turned in a demonic beast (which is kind of meta in a way, even as a "human" Momo was behaving like a crazed beast).

And yet, at the same time, we have humans blaming children for the sins of their parents, and this for several generations - while it gives credence to some part of Rhea's lies calling the Dudes "Heroes" instead of revealing the Truth (tm), it's more remarkable as a demonstration of "humans are prejudiced against something they don't know" (which also, sort of justifies Rhea's lies/omissions about her being a giant lizard).

For Marianne, she blames her Crust for her suffering - when she should be blaming the peons who throw rocks at her for having said crust for said suffering.

It wasn't played like that in the game because it completely clashes with Supreme Leader, but Marianne's bg story could have been a situation where someone apologises for being born a certain way, with the cast/story telling her that hell no, you're not at fault for being born with a crust, the people at fault are the people blaming you for being born "this way".

(but then world for humanity, pointy ears cannot rule over round ears because they have pointy ears, and what not)

Fittingly, the paralogue ends with :

Of course we can interpret the "beast" as in not beast like a four legged creature like Baldo'n'Waldi, but beast because Momo was a beast aka a butcher - and now that she put an end to him she's free from his legacy -

Still, imo, that would miss the point, because Marianne still thinks her curse (thus not feeling "human") stemmed from her blood (tied to Momo) when that's not the case - sure Momo is to blame, but she shouldn't have been shunned/blamed for having the "wrong" blood to begin with!

am currently working on a neocities site (which i cannot give you the url for yet because im working on the css still and there's no content also it looks ugly still) and oh man does it take me back to ye olde days of custom theme editing on here. i still use a custom theme obvs but back in like 2014/2015ish when i was really into indie rp custom themes were all the rage and you would spend hours editing some character specific image for your bg and then another several hours trying to make the css line up with your image (never at any point did i attempt to actually like. learn html or css. i just read other people's theme codes and edited the parts i could understand and solved problems as they arose. i distinctly remember one time i was using a base that had two sidebars and i only wanted one and deleting the section broke the theme in disastrous ways [bc i had no idea what i was doing] so i literally just made all the elements in the sidebar transparent and moved them off the screen LMAO. the best i ever got was moving from fully built custom themes that i edited to base themes that i built off of)

anyway while im slightly better now (im even reading tutorials! am i following them? sorry i have to go i think someones calling me) i am using a layout builder to build the homepage so it is even more reminding me of mid-2010s tumblr. much like building off a base theme, and definitely easier to understand than tumblr theme building (this time i at least know what all the different pieces of code are doing, even when im not sure how or why, or how to duplicate the effect under slightly different circumstances. but progress is progress!).

a good but annoying thing about the layout that im using is that i havent actually edited the site wide stylesheet, just used internal css on that one page, so when i go to make literally any other page i'll have to start from scratch. this is good because i am learning a lot and i think without doing it this way i would end up with a bunch of useless stuff in the stylesheet that really should be page-specific that i would have to correct with internal or inline css later. annoying because what do you mean i have to make decisions about the sizing and positions of the content? i literally just did that

also im kind of nervous to touch the general stylesheet because im pretty sure what i'll actually want to do is have a couple of stylesheets for different 'sections' of the website, to maintain cohesion between pages of the 'same' type but still allow a lot of fun customization on a per-page basis, but that requires deciding what 'sections' i want on the website and that is a whole other can of worms. but also you can't start without starting so i should probably just try to build a really simple layout and go from there (after all, if it sucks, it's not like i can't just create a new stylesheet, or do the css for each page independently until i hit a groove that's actually worth moving to the stylesheet). but also first i have to finish this goddamn homepage. which means i gotta find a header image that doesn't look ugly as shit

This is probably my most ambitious piece yet that I felt I have nowhere near enough skills/experience. Dreaded drawing legs the most, especially regarding Holly. Helicopters have their smaller rotor on a super thin tail and I had to figure out how to turn it into two nicely balanced legs. Made this doodles to practice:

And now a fun fact regarding looking for refs. Apparently it's much easier to find nice pics of the horizon from a copter's pov (20k feet altitude) than from a jet plane's pov (50k in case of a B2).

Another fun fact is that having the light source in this position SUCKS. And I had no time to find and study refs 😭 But eh, I'm still proud of it and I feel accomplished ☺️

obvs my full timeline isn't done yet but the orin vibe is like. ana IS an impostor. and the feeling that orin has for her originates from hatred, but the context is entirely different from as-written durge

i'm gonna cut for big ol durge spoilers

orin as written is jealous, feeling she deserves more. she seeks to displace someone more powerful and more favored than her, to prove her worth, etc. it's a little-sister-on-a-power-trip, and while that's fun and puts the player in the position of realizing they really did suck that bad to be Top Bitch over her, i both a) want more for orin and b) need more control over anathema's origins

orin with anathema is still antagonistic but it's like - she is the pure-blooded grand/daughter of sarevok. she is an eminently skilled shapeshifter. she killed her mother and then (in my lil timeline here) the 'canon' bg/2 protag (whatever the hell his name is, though i might eventually play those games For Real rather than half-remembered watching-my-mom-play bits) for bhaal's favor and the right to lead this cult to glorious slaughter and she has been doing that for years - careful planning, for a beautiful outcome.

this orin is more methodical, more patient. she still has her moments of cackling blood-soaked glee, but i want her to be SCARY and not just unstable - she knows good art takes Time and avoiding too heavy of an eye on her group is critical. she feels, in every sense, that she both is entitled to and has also earned everything she has, and threats to her status/position will be disemboweled posthaste. to that end, i think i enjoy her being a full dread three planner way more than a revan-esque "YOU were the EVIL MASTERMIND" reveal.

enter stage left: a shambling puppet, filled with a stolen gift. she Knew something was wrong about anathema as soon as she entered the stage, and even as she saw doubt enter her sect at the arrival of another claimant to the throne, she believed her father would never favor a liar and a thief over Her. she, who has done so much for Him, in His name. when bhaal turns his eye to anathema and doesn't immediately unravel her at the seams - even tells orin that she's Actual Competition - she's seeing red, literally.

ana - even in her fucked-up state - gives her a run for her money. don't really have what the underlying goal was for this whole gambit (i'll get there ok ok - the durgening might also Not Even Happen in a fashion that there IS a 'before'-time. i have yet to decide)

regardless of When the durgening happens, orin's energies with ana upon re-meeting are a) intense b) violently taunting rather than jealous overcompensation c) knowing that ana is an Outsider, not an equal - she is prey, no matter what she's stolen. does she deserve a duel? maybe if you're good, pet. maybe if you're good.

i also think orin toys less with hostages (that's a gortash tactic - see the iron throne, yetcetera) and more with the looming and HIGHLY legitimate threat of violence and sowing distrust to shape ana's behaviors. they're playing a little mind game and ana IS susceptible, because ketheric's dead and gortash can be reasoned with (as a man who wants to maintain dominance and power, he still ultimately needs People and Things to dominate), but orin is sheer unadulterated joy in the rending of living flesh. slaughter is the journey And the destination. you can't really reason with someone like that, and ana Knows it. so when orin starts coyly bringing Other Party Members And Associated Friends into the conversation as viable alternatives for bloodshed since ana won't do what she Fucking Wants, ana IS paying attention.

what does orin want? to kill anathema, most certainly. but more directly: to reclaim what she has 'stolen', of her own volition or not. to drain and consume her.

so orin fucks with her more Directly, but always a little cheekily, flirtatiously. don't you wish you could kill me? you won't kill any of these sad little scenarios i keep giving you, but i know the lying transfusion in your veins wants to rip me limb from limb. i know you wake up almost every night with blood in your mouth because your weak mind roils against MY father's sacred visions. your blood - even stolen as it is - sings for mine because it knows it Belongs to me. it should be one with mine. you should be one with me. wouldn't you like that? you'll walk into my jaws willingly, Soon. when there is nothing left but me. when your blood leaves you no other option than to return Home.

SPOILERS:

I loved the game hands down, I never thought I'd love a game this much and even after finishing it I would probably go back and replay campaigns. I especially would love to replay Spearmaster to get all the broadcasts and unlockable and actually take my time on it, but that would mean deleting my save and redoing the whole campaign as a whole (because I can't bring myself to tear Spearmaster away from Suns. Can't have the bb girl alone!

Though the one campaign I would also constantly play is Rivulets, I love it, I usually HATE underwater levels because of my drastic fear of being suck underwater but I ended up enjoying it a lot, it was very thrilling and to see Pebbles starting to decay fucken h u r t s. Then playing Rivulet AFTER Spearmaster you can see how Moon was before you see her sunken in water which has insane contrast. Off topic but I reckon playing Gourmand gave me the most frights just because I had to go everywhere to get the food quests which allowed me to really explore everywhere! I had a moment when I was walking across the map to see a red cent and a bunch of others after just avoiding death on the side I came from gave me an "ah fuck" moment which was a bit funny!

Then there's also Saint, this one got me in tears. I can't listen to Credit V without imaging the distance shot of the iterators falling and coming to fact that this is what the world is at, still. While in Rivulets the story of Moon and Pebbles wraps up for Saint to clean up (or not) Saint wraps up the whole story leaving me with that heavy feeling in my chest and I just- weep. It's beautiful and just heartbreaking to leave the world broken rather than to fix it, but at this point there's not much that can be fixed as Saint other than to ascend everything to get them out of their misery. Then leaving the environment to fix itself covering the rubble of past advanced civilizations and god like machines- the only evidence that they ever existed becoming meaningless and just terrain. That as well as Saint is forever stuck in this nothingness. Man it crushes me.
