i miss you (Park Jihyo x Reader)
Angst with happy ending , smut
Was going to post this yesterday but I got sick again (or well I got worse after I felt better) but here we are! That being said I wrote this in a sick ish blur so if it’s not good I’m so sorry it was a fever dream writing it.
Tumblr media
Your girlfriend Jihyo wasn’t always distant, even with her busy schedule of performances and recordings she still found a way to make time for you, more time than she had probably but then her solo debut came around and that changed.
Missed texts, calls, dinners, pretty much everything was met with a “I’m sorry baby, practice is running late”. She left the house before you woke up, and got home after you were in bed most days, though she was attentive and caring the few times you see each other, constant affection as usual.
Tonight was no different than the last how ever many, it was seven in the evening and you had cooked dinner for the two of you as she had promised she would be home in time and she was so stressed, it’s the least you can do for the love of your life.
Of course you trusted her words when she said she’d be on time, even if that was the naive thing to do, but now she was an hour late than she agreed to and you were sat on your couch drinking the wine that was meant for dinner. Then you get a phone call.
*Incoming call*
Hyo❤️‍🔥
You sit up fast, placing your wine glass on the coffee table before answering.
“Hyo, is everything okay?” You answer, “where are you?”
“Hey baby.” She starts, you can tell it’s not good news from her tone, the way she putting fake happiness in her voice.
“You’re not coming, are you?”, Disappointments laced every one of your words.
“I’m sorry love, they want to extend rehearsal for a couple hours.” You can hear the guilt seeping into her apology, “I have to stay since it’s you know my song, so I’ll have to miss dinner and I’ll be back late.”
You let out an amused huff, figures, how could you think tonight was any different than usual.
“Right.” You pause, looking at the made dinner on the table that is now cold and her wine glass that is still full, a couple candles scattered around, flowers sitting in the center waiting to be gifted to Jihyo, tears welling up in your eyes.
“I’m really sor-“
“It’s fine. Really.” Your voice breaks slightly, almost unnoticeable except for the fact that Jihyo knows every little thing about you especially when you’re not okay.
“You don’t sound fine.”
“Jihyo it’s okay, I’ll see you later.”
She knew it wasn’t okay, from your shaky voice to the fact that you called her “Jihyo” instead of “Hyo” or some other sweet pet name but she decided not to push while in front her band members.
“Okay, I love you-“
Jihyo can barely get the words out before you hang up, teary eyed glancing once again at the set dinner table with full plates, the sink with dishes from your couple hours of cooking.
Deciding to leave everything where it is, you head back to the couch and pick the wine glass up once again, sitting there until your girlfriend got home which was about three hours later.
You hear the door unlock and close, her keys being thrown onto the table by the door, and her heavy bag hitting the floor before she walks into the living room you’re in. She finds you sitting, watching some movie or more so dissociating while staring at the screen, empty wine glass in hand with the bottle on the table not empty but close to it.
“Baby..” she says, it’s quiet like she’s scared.
You don’t answer you just look at her, eyes watery and red from crying, tears stained your shirt.
“I’m so sorry I’m late.”
No answer again.
“Let me make it up to you.”
The only noise you make is a little chuckle, a familiar promise of her making it up to you that she has been making for weeks but never followed through.
“Did you eat?” She asks, quieter than before if possible.
“Does it look like I did?” You bitterly ask while waving your hand at the dinner table in the other room.
Jihyo’s eyes follow your hand, seeing the full untouched plates with a full wine glass, then she see the flowers and candles which causes her eyes to fill with guilty tears.
“Oh..” it comes out as a choked whisper, “I’m so sorry.” She finally walks over to you, getting on her knees in front of you and placing her hands on your knees, “I really wanted to be here, but rehearsal-“
She can’t finish her sentence before you’re pushing her hands off of you and standing up to go into the dining room.
“Can you stop making excuses Jihyo?” It comes out louder than expected, as you speak you start picking up the plates to throw the food away but she puts a hand on your wrist before you can get to the trash can.
“Don’t throw it out.”
“Really? You’re going to eat the dinner I made 5 hours ago? now?”
“Maybe, if it makes you feel better.” Jihyo can feel herself getting irritated after the long day of rehearsal, she knows she shouldn’t be seeing as she’s the one hurting you.
“I don’t think it will.” Before you throw the plates in the trash, admittedly harder than necessary, the both of them shattering when they land.
“Hey! can we just talk? Instead of throwing things” she says exasperated at the new angry behavior of yours.
“Jihyo, I’ve been wanting to talk. For weeks. And you were nowhere to be found.”
“I’ve been here every night.”
“Yeah when I’m already asleep. And then you leave before I even wake up. When should I talk to you during those times? Huh?”
“Baby you know how my job is, the schedules-“
“Yeah i do. And I know i agreed to dealing with it but… I feel like I don’t even know you anymore.”
“You do know me, I’m the same person as I’ve always been.”
“No, Jihyo, you’re not.” A pause. “When’s the last time we went on a date?” Tears filled your eyes again.
“I-I don’t know, a week ago?” She stuttered, taken aback by the sudden questioning.
“3. 3 weeks ago. When’s the last time you ate a dinner I made you while it was still hot?”
“I- I don’t know.” She looks at the ground in shame.
“Exactly.” You try walking to the door.
“W-“
“No. I don’t want to hear your excuses anymore.” Turning back to face her.
“Please, baby. Let’s talk about this.” She goes to grab your hands which you quickly pull away as you walk in the other direction, leaning against the kitchen counter.
“Go ahead. You have 5 minutes.”
“Wh- are you serious? 5 minutes?“ The shock leaves her face as she sees the serious look on your face, “I know I’ve been distant, and truly I am so sorry. I know my job isn’t an excuse but you have to understand I can’t exactly say no to staying longer or canceling schedules.”
“That’s not ev- the problem is that when you don’t have a schedule you’re nowhere to be found.”
“Because I’m tired, y/n. It’s exhausting sometimes to do what I do.”
“Too tired for me?”
“That’s not what i meant.”
There’s silence as you look as her, contemplating your next words.
“Maybe we should break up.”
“Wh- what? N-no.” Panic fills Jihyo as you speak, nausea taking over her body.
“Hyo, I don’t know if I can do this anymore, barely seeing you when you have a comeback and when you don’t, you’re on tour.”
“But-“
“You’re losing me Jihyo. You being gone all the time, it hurts. I just want you to be around more but you can’t do that.”
“I’ll do better. I’ll make them cancel some rehearsal days, bring you on tour with me, anything. I mean I’ll even take a hiatus.”
“You’d do that?”
“If it meant keeping you.” She was genuine, in all the years you’d known her you had grown to distinguish when she wasn’t being truthful, “Please, give me another chance.” She grabs your hands, this time slowly but you don’t pull away this time which ignites a hope in Jihyo.
“Fine. Maybe not a hiatus but-“
She cuts you off with a kiss, hands going to your face, it was soft and sweet, her love being translated through it.
“I love you.” Her eyes staring into yours, hands still on your cheeks, “I’ll do better. As a matter of fact, I’m going take tomorrow off.”
“Can you even do that?” You ask shocked, but a smile returns to your face.
“I mean, I am the idol, what are they gonna do without me? And they can’t fire me, I’m too valuable.”
You push her away playfully at the last part but she’s quick to grab your hands and pull you into her.
“How can i make it up to you?”
“Well, in general a lot, but just tonight? You can start by doing the dishes and then maybe joining me in the bedroom?” Your eyes are mischievous and suggestive as you look at her.
“Can’t we just skip to the bedroom part?” She pouts as she looks at the dishes in the sink and on the stove from the day.
“If you don’t do them, there will be no bedroom part.” You answer as she push her off you and towards the sink.
“Come onnnn”
You keep walking as she pouts heading to your shared room, deciding on skin care and changing to waste the time.
As you’re standing in front of your dresser, only wearing a pair of sweatpants, a voice from behind you appears.
“I think putting on clothes is kinda pointless.” Jihyo rasps out, as you meet her eyes in the mirror on your dresser they’re dark with blown pupils and staring directly at your bare chest.
“I have eyes you know.” At which she shifts her gaze up to make eye contact, a playful smirk on her face. But you do slide your sweatpants off onto the floor causing your girlfriend to smile.
“And I love those too.” She says walking behind you to wrap her arms around your waist, head on your shoulder with her mouth next to your ear, “but.. I’ve just missed touching you so much.” You feel her lips press into your neck and leaving a few marks as her hands glide up to squeeze your chest, fingers pinching your nipples, lips moving down to your shoulder before making eye contact with you, “Why don’t you go lay down for me pretty girl?” A soft dominance wafting off of her, you of course follow her orders immediately laying on the bed and spreading your legs slightly to show the growing wet spot on your underwear. Jihyo just stands at the end of the bed, staring at you with her lower lip between her teeth, eyes slowly moving from your face down your body almost lost in the sight of you, a minute passes before you speak.
“…Hyo?”
“Hm.”
“Are you going to stop staring and join me or?”
A blush spreads across her face before a smirk takes over.
“Sorry for admiring my absolutely gorgeous girlfriend.” She teases as she finally gets on the bed and climbs up to hover over you, hers eyes shining with love and once again staring you down as she studied your face for the millionth time in your relationship. You try interrupting her stares by leaning in to kiss her but she playfully pulls away, “I’m not done looking.” A hand goes to rest on your cheek.
“Hyo, I love you so much, but if you don’t touch me after today then I’m making you sleep outside.”
“Going to kick me out of my own house that I pay for?” She smiles but that goes away when she sees the quirk of your eyebrow that tells her you’re dead serious, causing her to capture your lips in a passionate kiss her tongue swiping at your lips begging to be let in which you part your lips letting her tangle her tongue with yours before pulling away and biting your bottom lip bring it with her before letting it go saliva still connecting you and looking at you, eyes darker than before.
She moves her lips to your jaw leaving light kisses, moving to your neck where she starts leaving marks. One hand squeezing your thigh, the other sliding from your hip to your chest.
“Hyo.” You whimper out.
“I know baby, let me take care of you.”
The kisses and marks move down to your collarbones and chest, she wraps her lips around your nipple while her hand attended the other one. After your chest is littered in purple marks and little bites her hand goes to your underwear feeling the wetness and rubbing you through the fabric making you gasp and rut up into her.
“So needy. You’re so wet baby, miss me that bad?”
“Please.”
Her kissing continues down your stomach until she reaches the waistband of your underwear, pulling them down slowly making sure to leave a feathery kiss on every inch of new skin that showed, worshiping your body with her loving kisses. Reaching your knees she finally pulls your underwear all the way down and throws them to the floor, returning to her original place her face hovering over yours and you can feel the light touch of her lips on yours as she speaks again.
“I’m going to use my fingers first so I can see how much you missed me, okay?”
“Whatever you want.”
Her hand that rested on your thigh moved to your center, rubbing small circles at first. Small whimpers come out of your mouth as you close your eyes, truthfully you hadn’t really had sex that wasn’t a quickie in a green room for a performance in weeks so even her light touch had you close to finishing.
“Wait.” You say which causes her to stop and worry, “You know, you’re fully clothed…”
“Uh huh..” she says a smile on her lips, her fingers going back to making small circles on your clit now that she knows you’re not uncomfortable.
“And I am not. I don’t think that’s fair.” You can barely talk as she moves her fingers, but you get out the words even if they’re shaky. You didn’t want to tell her the real reason you wanted her clothes off is because you loved the sight of your nail marks and scratches on her back the next morning, you would trace them with your fingers as she laid down or in the shower.
Jihyo makes a show of sitting up on her heels and pulling her baggy shirt over her head, too slowly you think, her abs showing from her countless hours of rehearsals and her earlier workout. Then she unclips her bra and takes it off just as slowly, she leaves her sweatpants on though as she settles herself back, two fingers immediately going back to where they were but soon slid down to enter you agonizingly slow and were unmoving when fully inside, her thumb working circles on your clit.
“Don’t tease” Your voice is breathless and almost a whimper as you look at her heavy lidded eyes, “please.”
“Anything you want baby.” Her fingers move inside you as she speaks, the pace going from 0-100 almost instantly, after all she did promise to make up for her behavior so who was she to deny you, your playful threat of leaving her in the driveway for the night for not listening to you still present in her mind.
“Fuck.”
“Feel good pretty girl?” Her lips brush on your ear, and her warm breath causes shivers down your spine.
“So good.” It’s more of a whine than actual words.
The feeling of her fingers inside of you is dizzying, vision a bit blurred, all of your thoughts consumed by her.
“You’re doing so good. Taking my fingers so well.”
The words alone makes you tighten around her, wetness dripping onto the sheet below. You thought you were already close but then she angles her fingers up just right and it feels like you’re on fire, you hands grip her back nails digging into her skin dragging down to her waist where you pull her closer to you if possible.
“I’m so close.”
“Let go baby. You deserve it.” She whispers before kissing you but pulls away as you reach your orgasm, she just can’t miss the noises you make for her.
Your vision is white as you reach your peak, back arching off the bed and into your girlfriend’s chest, nails digging into her skin again as you moan loud enough for the whole world to hear. Jihyo’s fingers don’t stop moving inside you until you whine and put your hand on her wrist. You don’t realize you’re holding your breath until she speaks again.
“Breathe baby.” A light chuckle falling from her lips while she strokes your cheek with her thumb, “are you okay?”
“More than okay.”
“Does that mean you forgive me?”
“Actually I think you might have to do a redo on that apology.”
“Oh yeah?” Jihyo’s eyes shined as she looked down at you
“Mm.”
“I think I can do that.” Before she retreats underneath the blanket with her head between your thighs.
She ended up apologizing about 3 more times that night before you were satisfied, but Jihyo didn’t mind as long as she had her girl.

warnings: smut, p in v, age gap ( r’s 23, v’s 30), use of pet names, fingering, oral (f receiving), dirty talk, cussing, use of pet names, use of y/n, lmk if i missed anything !!
summary: when vinnie hired you on to babysit his four year old, he never expected things to take a turn the way it did
Tumblr media
you started the job right before the boy turned one. he was the sweetest infant, and even more sweet as a toddler.
it was hard to believe it had already been three years since you started the job, it feeling like yesterday.
you show up at the household five days a week, everyday like clockwork at seven in the morning just so vinnie could be at work on time.
just like today. it was six-forty-five when you pulled up to the hacker residence, fifteen minutes early.
there was really no actual set time you had to be at the house, but vinnie did say before at least seven-fifteen.
knocking on the door softly but loud enough to be heard, you waited for the man to answer.
you were met with the man on the other side, giving you a greeting smile.
you would never admit this to anyone but you always thought vinnie was attractive. with his blonde curls, strong bone structure, and not to mention the obvious muscle.
he still portrayed that ‘dad bod’ but it wasn’t as obvious as most.
“goodmorning ms l/n,” he smiles. “come on in, wes is still asleep but i’m sure you don’t mind.”
you smiled back with a nod as you walked into the house. it wasn’t big, a single story with only two bedrooms, perfect for vinnie and his son.
over the years you came to find out their story. you found out that vinnie’s girlfriend at the time had just up and left the baby as his responsibility.
it was clear he needed the help, and daycare was just too expensive for him to handle, so he decided to hire an ongoing babysitter.
that’s where you come into play. three years ago you had found this ad on a website, clicked on it and read the description.
once you did you knew you had to at least interview for the family, you didn’t ever expect to be hired.
now here you were three years later, wesley had become someone you truly loved like your own son.
“should i wake him up if he sleeps in a little too late?” you asked the older man as you set your things down on the kitchen counter.
vinnie shook his head. “no, not unless it’s past ten.” he informed.
you nodded and watched as vinnie grabbed his things off the counter. he had tattoos run along his hands that you swore was the hottest thing.
shaking your head, you look at the man across from you as he repeats his words you didn’t hear.
“there’s yogurt and strawberries in the fridge, strawberries are all cut up so all you have to do is serve them. you know he’s going to want apple juice with his breakfast so — water it down.” you cut him off with a smile.
vinnie returns the smile and nods. “right. i’ll be home probably about five-thirty, six so i’ll see you then.”
the two of you say goodbye and that’s when you go and sit down on the couch a bit until the boy wakes up. it was around seven-twenty in the morning so you knew it would be at least an hour or two before he wakes up.
⋆.ೃ࿔*
about an hour later you saw the young blonde peek into the livingroom, wide smile across his face when he noticed you were there.
“y/n!” he exclaimed as he ran up to you. you scooped him up in your arms and kissed his head.
“morning, wes. sleep good?” you asked as the boy squirmed out of your arms and sat beside you on the couch.
with a nod to his head, you smiled. standing up, you grabbed his hand and helped him off the couch before saying, “your dad got breakfast all ready for you, you hungry?”
the blonde smiled widely as you helped him down and ushered him into the kitchen.
you grabbed his booster seat and sat him in it before going to the fridge and grabbing the yogurt and strawberries for his breakfast.
“here you go wes. you want your apple juice?” you knew his answer but just thought to check in case there was a chance he didn’t want it.
like always, wesley smiled as he asked politely for the drink. your went to pour it in a sippy cup and watered it down just a bit like always.
handing it to him, he thanked you as you ruffled his hair with a smile. you had eaten breakfast on the way here so you decided to sit at the table and wait for the boy to finish.
once he was done you cleared the table and helped him out of his seat. you put it back in its respective spot and then took the blondes hand and told him it was time to get dressed.
“which shirt today, dinosaurs or trucks?” you asked the boy as you held up two shirts.
he looked between the two before pointing to the one in your left hand. “dino’s!”
you laughed and smiled as you put the other shirt away. after dressing him, you told him you had to clean up the kitchen and to stay in his room to play with his toys until you got done.
once done with cleaning up the kitchen, you decided to take wesley to the park. it was a pretty nice day out, plus it was the last few weeks of summer so you wanted to make sure he got all his time outside in.
“hey wes, you wanna go out to the park? you can bring your car with.” you ask, the boy’s eyes lit up at the last words you said.
for wesley’s fourth birthday vinnie had gotten him one of those battery operated toy cars. wesley loved it the minute he saw it and was outside for a good two hours riding it around that day.
after getting very excited about hearing he could bring his car with, wesley immediately ran to the kitchen to wait for you.
you laughed at the boy's excitement as thee two of you made it out to the garage.
opening up the garage door, you got the car out and wesley immediately got into the toy car and drove out of the garage.
"hold on bubba, gotta close the door." you informed the boy, seeing as he was already halfway down the driveway.
after closing the garage door the two of you were off to the park. it wasn't that far from vinnie's place, so it was perfect walking distance.
once arrived, wesley stopped his car and you watched as he made his way to the slide.
as you watched the boy, your thoughts immediately went to the older blonde man, more specifically, how attractive he really was.
you shouldn't be thinking like this, especially since he was your boss, not to mention years older than you, but you couldn't help yourself.
you wondered if he thought about you the way you did him. he couldn't have though, he's acted nothing but professional to you for the past three years.
you've always thought about what it'd be like to be in a certain situation with him. how would he react? would he be polite and push you away, or would he give in?
that's what you had to find out.
⋆.ೃ࿔*
back at the house, it was around five-forty-five and you were getting wesley ready for dinner. he had demanded chicken nuggets and mac and cheese to you on your guys' way home from the park.
you of course couldn't tell him no, so here you were, preparing everything for his dinner.
after getting the boy into his booster seat, you finished up cooking the mac and cheese before serving some in a bowl to him, the chicken nuggets were served soon after that.
"had a good day today, wes?" you ask as you sit down at the table with him.
wesley smiles and nods. "when's daddy gonna be home?" he asked you before scooping up mac and cheese.
you checked your phone for the time before answering him. "soon, bub, probably after you're done eating."
wesley smiled and continued to finish his food. about twenty minutes later vinnie walked into the door and wesley immediately ran up to him.
"hey bud!" vinnie said as his son hugged his legs.
vinnie set his things down and picked up his son. "had the best day!" wesley exclaimed to his dad.
you watched with a smile as wesley told vinnie all about your day today. vinnie flashed you a smile and for a minute your plan was working.
"alright bud, go in your room and play for a bit while yn and I talk, okay?" vinnie said as he put the boy down.
wesley ran to his room while you and vinnie watched. once he left you started to clean up the dishes from dinner.
you watched as vinnie rounded the other side of the island and took a seat on one of the barstools. "you don't have to clean up, you're good to go home for the day." vinnie informed.
you smiled and shook your head. "its alright, i don't mind," you told him. "plus you worked all day, it's the least i can do."
vinnie noded and just stay put. after dishes were done you had offered to bathe wesley to help out once more before leaving.
"you don't need to do all that." vinnie says as he takes a sip of his drink. "I can bathe him, he is my son of course." he laughs.
it was the first real laugh you've gotten to hear in years, and you had to admit that you loved hearing it.
although, he was right, you definitely did not have to wash wesley up, vinnie could do it himself. you just loved spending time with both vinnie and wesley, you couldn't help it.
"okay, let me just say goodbye to him and i'll be out of your hair." you tell the man before you walked out of the room.
once you left, vinnie let out a heavy sigh, thanking everything that you left when you did. recently he's been having thoughts no boss should have about the person they've employed.
thoughts like how pretty you are, how pretty you looked in your bathing suit that one summer when he had invited you over to swim because wesley wouldn't stop asking for you.
"fuck." he cursed under his breath, now trying to not get a tent in his pants before he sees you for the final time.
⋆.ೃ࿔*
the next day you arrived at the house exactly at seven. knocking on the door, vinnie opened it moments later with his eyebrows furrowed.
"shit I'm sorry, i forgot to tell you wesley's at my parents house today. you don't have to work today, go home and take the day off." he informed with a smile.
you smiled too, that's when you took in his appearance; tousled hair and sweats, no shirt.
your breath caught in your throat at the sight. you hadn't seen him like this since that summer he invited you over for a little pool party with wesley.
vinnie notices how you react and chuckles. "this looks unprofessional, know," he breathes. "i just needed a day to myself, i know it sounds selfish but it's true."
you shrug it off. "don't need to explain yourself, it's fine i understand." you tell him with a smile.
vinnie returns the gesture. "well i guess i'll get going," you sigh. "thank you, i'll see you tomorrow."
vinnie smiles before he watches you walk off, that was until he called you back over.
"hey actually if you'd want, i could have some help around the house a bit." he tells you, opening the door for you.
you walk into the house and set your things down on the counter. vinnie comes up behind you, hand gliding against your back before he faces you.
he's still in his sweatpants and no shirt. he looks at you and takes in your outfit.
a nice baby blue sundress paired with black converse. he loved how you dressed cute but also a bit casual too.
"so uhm," vinnie clears his throat, making you smile. "you can start with whatever you want first, no rush and you definitely don't have to do this." he explains.
you smile as you start to walk over to the kitchen sink, vinnie follows in suit and sits at the island chair that faces you.
you start with the dishes that are already in the sink before going to the ones on the counter
"what'd you guys do last night after i left that has the sink overflowing?" you ask with a small laugh.
vinnie reciprocates, laughing with you before answering. "wes wanted cookies before bed, unfortunately he makes it hard to say no and so i gave in."
you laugh, the four year old can be very persistent with things. as you continue with the dishes, you can feel vinnie's gaze linger on you.
he watches as you wash the dishes then set them on the counter to dry. watches as you glance over at him and starts smiling.
he smiles back, not even hesitating before he does, almost like its on cue, an instinct.
"you're beautiful, you know that?" he doesn't know what possessed him to say that, but he's glad he did.
the reaction he gets out of you is one he suspected, your cheeks tint to a red color, smiling wide as you look at him.
"thank you, vinnie. you're not so bad yourself, even when looking casual." you return the compliment.
you both don't know what is going on right now, this was extremely unprofessional, at least it felt like it.
vinnie didn't care right now though. he'd been having these thoughts about you for so long, he needed to act on them.
taking a bolder approach, he stands up and rounds the other end of the island so he's now by you. you turn to face him, and that's when you notice the slight stubble on his face.
you thought it made him look sexy, paired with his tattoos, you almost didn't want to give in.
his hand travels to land on your waist, you look down at the placement and that's when vinnie asks, "is this okay?"
it shouldn't be, but it sure does feel okay. nodding your head, you give him a verbal response too, just so he knows.
his other hand cups your jaw and that's when you watch as he leans in, so you do the same until you're met in the middle.
the way his lips felt on yours was like nothing youve experienced before. it was needy, hungry, like you've both needed this for so long.
its almost like you did, you've both imagined this moment too many times, and finally acting on it almost felt unreal.
"jump." vinnie says against your lips. you do as told, jumping up so you're now in his arms.
none of you break apart as you feel him gently place you on the counter. his next movements however were not so gentle.
a gasp slips out of you when you feel his hand come in contact with your clothed pussy. he smirks up at you, watching your head tip back as his finger presses against your clit.
"vinnie." is all you muster out, it coming out as more of a moan.
vinnie smiles as he continues to rub at you through your panties. he watches as you widen your legs for him and bite your lip.
"let it out, baby. its only us, let me hear you." vinnie says, making you let out a loud moan once he circles your clit again.
carefully, he pulls your panties to the side and chuckles softly when he sees how wet you are already.
"barely touched you and you're already this wet f'me? dirty girl." he rasps before gliding his finger over your folds.
a whine slips from you and he smiles up at you, standing to give you a quick kiss before going down on his knees.
the sight in front of you almost makes you let go right then and there. vinnie's head disappears from your view and under your dress.
he grabs the waistband of your panties and pulls them down, tossing them on the floor somewhere before dipping his head between your thighs again.
you feel his fingers on you again, making you moan out his name for the second time. vinnie smiles to himself before easing his middle finger into you.
"shit," you moan, holding onto the edge of the counter. "vinnie, please."
he removes himself from between your legs and looks up at you, asking what you want. "you want more?"
you nod an he happily obliges, dipping his head back under. this time, his middle finger and mouth make contact with you.
his finger his sliding in and out of you at a rapid pace as his tongue prods at your clit, eliciting moans out of you.
soon, he gets antsy and lifts himself up again. "can i take this off?" he asks, referring to your dress.
you nod with a smile and before you know it, its off in a second. he asks to take your bra off too, to which you do for him, landing somewhere in the room.
his hands immediately find your chest, taking both of your breasts in his hands and squeezed them, making your head tip back.
he kisses from your lips all the way back down to where he was moments prior. his mouth lands on you again and you grip his hair, tugging softly which makes him groan into you.
"taste so good, princess." vinnie mumbles against you as his tongue laps up your juices.
you push his head into you more, causing a groan from him and moan from you at the feeling. you feel his ring finger enter you and that's when the pleasure intensifies.
"vinnie, g-gonna-" you're cut off by a whine as you feel his finger hit that one special spot.
vinnie looks up at you, continuing his actions as he speeds up his pace on you.
before you can utter the words to him, you're summing on his face in a second. vinnie lifts off of you and smiles, making you smile with him.
"so fuckin' good, baby," he breathes out before kissing you. "stand up f'me."
you do as told, hopping off the counter and standing up. before you have the chance to speak, vinnie's turning you around so you face the counter.
"gonna let me fuck that pretty pussy? huh, sweetheart?" you can't even answer him, the tone in his voice already making you wet.
you nod as you feel his hand make contact with your ass. his sweats pool to his ankles, letting his cock spring free and smack against his abdomen
"gonna give it to you so good, baby." he whispers in your ear as he strokes himself a few times.
you wiggle your ass just to tease him, he smacks it again before asking if you're ready.
with verbal conformation, you tell him you're ready and that's when you feel him push into you for the first time.
"shit, feel so fucking good already, don't know if i'll last." his words make you smile as you bite your lip.
vinnie grabs your hips and starts to move in and out of you at a slow pace. you grip the counter, already feeling like it's too much.
"so big." is all you can say, making vinnie smirk.
his thrusts soon become needy and face paced as time went on. when you noticed, you moved your ass back on him, making him moan.
"that's it, fuck yourself on my cock. good girl." the praise goes straight through you, making you whine in pleasure.
vinnie kisses your shoulder as he fucks into from behind. he can't believe this is happening. he doesn't want it to end.
his hands move from your hips to your chest in an instant, squeeing both of your tits as he thrusts into you.
"feel so good princess," he rasps. "god we should've done this sooner."
you smile at his words and agree. even though this is completely wrong, it feels so right.
"vinnie," you whine when you feel his thumb rub circles on your clit. "baby please."
he takes that as a sign that you're close and his pace along with his thumb on your clit becomes harsher.
"give it to me baby, come on. be a good girl and cum all over my cock."
his words only spur you on more and before you know it you're doing as told. a loud moan rips from you as you let go on vinnie's cock, making him smile as he reaches his release.
with a few more thrusts he cuts deep inside you with a moan followed with it.
"fuck." he says once he catches his breath.
he grabs your dress off the floor and helps you put it back on. he grabs his pants and puts them on himself after.
"that was.." you trail off with a laugh, not even knowing the correct words to use.
vinnie laughs with you, also not knowing the right words to use to explain what just happened.
you fix your hair and dress before you hear the doorbell ring. both you and vinnie go wide-eyed when you hear the door open and the sound of his son's voice.
"shit." he mutters. you watch as he quickly picks up your bra and puts it in your purse.
wesley comes around the corner just in time, followed by vinnie's parents. they've met you before so you say hello before grabbing your things.
"I should head out. thank you again vinnie for letting me help out, i'll see you tomorrow." you say to the blonde man.
he walks you out real fast and as you two are alone, he kisses you quickly. "see you tomorrow."
you smile and walk to your car, checking your purse for your keys. that's when you realize you left something on the kitchen floor, no doubt one of the three people who just walked into the house finding it.
tomorrow's going to be an awkward day.

You sat pretty on the brown couch in the playroom, with nothing but your red silk nightgown on while Eris tied up Azriel in similar colored rope. Az was stripped and kneeled on the long cushion across from you. His wings were relaxed, partly spread on the rug. Eris tied the ropes in a similar fashion that had been on you before: a basic harness. Az’s hands were tied behind his back and the ropes came around to his chest. You noticed immediately how the rope emphasized his pecs. If you could touch him you’d be on your knees licking up his chest.
“Do you know why I’m tying you up?” Eris asked, tugging on the front binds and ensuring they weren’t too tight.
“Yea,” Az grumbled back.
“And why is that?” Azriel didn’t answer. Eris reached down and grabbed his chin, forcing him to look up. “Why is it?”
Az glared at him. “Because someone’s a bitch who couldn’t handle a little teasing.”
Your eyes widened and you were so sure Eris would slap him. He didn’t. Instead he let go and walked over to the dresser at the back wall. He pulled out a silk cloth and came back to tie it around Azriel’s mouth.
“You were a brat yesterday and a very bad boy. You not only distracted me while working, you edged y/n seven times that I counted through the bond. Which is well past her limit and what I originally asked of you.”
“Seven?” You gasped. You squeezed your thighs together out of reflex. “Azriel!”
You didn’t think he edged you that much. But you were so far gone you weren’t counting. Your limit was five and that was over the course of hours. How you hadn’t cum on accident was a miracle. Az wouldn’t look at you. He simply scowled and stared at the carpet.
“So now,” Eris stepped back and rolled up the sleeves of his shirt. “You’re going to sit there and think about what you did. I’m going to play with our mate and when we’re done, I’m going to show you what it’s like to be edged seven times.”
Az kept his stony expression but you could feel through the bond his worry- and his anticipation. Even if you didn’t want to, you shut the bond down. Whatever happened next, Az wasn’t allowed to feel. That was one of the rules agreed upon. You glanced up when Eris came up to you and he reached out, gently tilting your head up by your chin. Your eyes followed to look up at his amber ones.
“What do you want?”
“I want you in my mouth.”
He hummed. “Up.”
He let you go and you almost leaped off the couch. Your eyes quickly grazed over him, want twisted in the pit of your stomach. You hadn’t fully taken in what he was wearing, too focused on Azriel. He was wearing a tight green button up in a style you hadn’t seen before with the sleeves rolled up his forearms. Newer pants with buttons instead of laces. Every inch of him radiated High Lord even without traditional Autumn clothing. He sat on the couch and you sank down into your knees between his legs.
“These are new,” you whispered, reaching out and tracing where his cock strained against the buttons.
“A gift.” You tilted your head at him. He sighed. “From the human lands.”
Ah. You knew instantly why he didn’t elaborate further. You nodded and leaned up to undo the buttons. You wasted no time pushing up his shirt and pulling out his cock to stroke it. A long time ago, you’d be ashamed at how your mouth watered and slickness gathered on your thighs from just thinking about taking him in your mouth. Instead you just leaned in and licked the underside of him before taking him into your mouth.
“That’s a good girl,” he sighed, hands immediately going into your hair.
There was no rush. You lazily bobbed your head, your tongue stroking around every inch you could take without gagging. The bond between you hummed with contentment. You were so focused you almost didn’t notice a cool stroke on your exposed leg. You felt it again you stopped and glanced up at Eris. He grinned at you, tugging the bond. You pulled back and turned around to glare at Az.
“Keep your shadows to yourself,” you said sternly.
The shadow on your leg slinked away. Az’s eyebrows shot up and he shrunk back on his knees. Eris didn’t hold back his laugh and you knew Az was likely stewing in embarrassment. He hated being ignored but hated being chastised more. You heard him whine as you decided to climb onto Eris’s lap. Warm hands rubbed your thighs while you straddled him and reached between you to guide yourself onto him.
“Oh Eris,” you gasped loudly on purpose as you sank down onto his cock.
You loved sitting on his lap, his length filling you perfectly each time. You gave yourself a second to adjust. Eris pulled at your gown, tugging it up to your waist. You knew it was so Az could watch.
“Take what you need, love.”
You placed one hand by Eris’s head on the couch and leaned in to press your lips to his. His mouth parted to let your tongue in and you moaned into his mouth as you lifted your hips and sank back down again. His warm hands drifted to your rear, groping and squeezing while you found your rhythm.
You shifted your knees just a little bit further apart to be able to sink down farther. You pulled away to moan when his cock hit that sweet spot. He didn’t stop you as you moved faster and dropped down harder. Your forehead pressed against his and he whispered soft words of encouragement. In turn your moans grew louder. The strap of your gown fell down the arm you were now using to undo the buttons on his shirt.
“So good for me, princess.” His voice was haggard. He pushed down the strap more and cupped your breast, his thumb circling your nipple. “Can you cum for me like this?”
“Yes,” you gasped. You were so close.
“Do that for me, love.”
Just enough of a High Lord command laced in his statement that your body responded. You were vocal as you came apart, knees squeezing against Eris’s thighs while you pulsed around him. You slowed your movements and eventually fell onto Eris, burying your face against his neck while you came down. You caught your breath, his sweet scent calming you.
“You did so well,” he muttered, a hand slipping up your back to caress your skin.
You finally sighed and moved off him. The first thing you noticed was how hard he felt as you lifted off of him.
“Er,” you glanced down, frowning. He hadn’t cum.
“I have plans, princess.”
That grin was wicked. You had a feeling even in the hazy warmth of a good climax what he was planning. You knew it had everything to do with your mate sitting pretty across the room. Sure enough Eris trained his eyes on Az, stroking himself. It did not escape you that his cock was covered in you. Eris stood and tugged up his pants enough to walk over to where Az was waiting. You moved down the couch to get a better view.
“I’m going to take this off,” Eris tugged at the silk gag off and tossed it to the floor. “And I’m going to use your mouth since that’s all it’s good for. You even get a taste of y/n as a treat. Your shadows are going to stroke you until I’m done and you cannot cum. Understood?”
Az glared up at Eris. He didn’t reply; merely opened his mouth and stuck his tongue out. He must have tugged on the bond; since Eris mumbled something you couldn’t hear when he stepped closer to push his cock into Az’s mouth.
You opened up your bond to Az. Just because he couldn’t feel your pleasure, didn’t mean you couldn’t feel his. Your eyes widened a little as a wave of warmth hit you. From the way Az acted you thought he would be fighting it internally.
You curled up on the couch and watched while Eris fucked Az’s mouth. You committed every second to memory- it wasn’t often Az was the one submitting completely like this. And by the gods he was pretty under the fae lights, eyes glazed over while tears ran down his cheeks. You hazard a guess that it was more from the shadows ghosting along his cock than the one in his mouth.
Your eyes trailed over to Eris. You didn’t miss how he was constantly touching Az; brushing his hair back, fingers smoothing his brows and dipping down to wipe tears away. It was a stark contrast to the rough way he was thrusting into Az’s mouth and throat. You could feel through his bond that he was close.
As you expected, Az gagged when Eris gripped his hair, pulling him down all the way. Eris’s head fell back and he groaned as his came down your mate’s throat, holding him there until you felt Eris’s pleasure subside through the bond.
“So you can behave,” Eris said, panting, pulling out Azriel’s mouth. “Stop your shadows.”
Shadows scuttled away from Azriel’s hard cock. You watched Eris tuck himself back into his trousers, moving buttons into place while Az caught his breath. Eris pulled out a cloth from his back pocket and wiped the drool off of Az’s chin.
“That was one,” he said, tilting Az’s head up. “Six more to go, only this time you’ll tell us to stop when you feel close. Understood?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll be using my magic. Is that okay?”
“Yea.”
There was no change in how Az felt through the bond. Which meant he was truthful. Eris went to fix the buttons on his shirt as he walked back to the couch. When he sat down he patted beside him, wanting you to scoot over to him. As you did, he threw out his hand, flames with no heat immediately circling Az’s cock. He gasped but otherwise didn’t speak.
He turned on the couch as you crawled over so you could lay against his chest. You sighed and stretched your legs out while he wrapped his arms around you. He started to play with your hair and you were both silent. You almost fell asleep from how comfortable you were, if it hadn’t been for Az.
“Stop,” Az gasped.
You jolted, blinking. Eris called back his flames.
“Two,” Eris said with a drawl of emphasized boredom.
You knew exactly the game they were now playing. Not even a minute passed and flames went back to Az. You swore you heard him whine.
“Do you want to talk about why you disobeyed and embarrassed me yesterday?” Eris asked, he twisted his hand and the flames moved faster.
“I,” Az's body shuttered. “You don’t own me.”
You sighed. “Az, why did you disobey daddy?”
That was the first time you’d spoken to him softly since this started. And that seemed too much for him.
“Stop,” Az sobbed and the magic disappeared.
“That’s only three,” Eris said, shaking his head.  “And so much quicker than the first two. Four more to go. Unless you want to talk?”
The look Az shot Eris would have set him on fire if he had those powers. Flames returned again. You thought about using your own magic but you didn’t have permission. This was between Az and Eris.
He seemed to last longer this time, be it from stubbornness or how slower the flames moved. You watched him struggle- shifting his knees and scrunching his face until he finally yelled stop again. Flames left just his hard cock that was leaking against his stomach. Gods you wished he hadn’t been a brat so you could put your mouth on him.
“Four. Can you explain yourself or do you want to keep going?”
Eris got up this time and went to him, hands on his hips.
“Give me a second,” Az panted.
“I don’t think you gave y/n a second to breathe. What’s your color?”
“Yellow.”
Az stared at the ground, cheeks darkened. You sent some love through the bond. Az was always difficult about being honest with his head space; him admitting they needed to slow down was a big step.
“Good boy,” Eris ran his hands through Azriel’s hair. “Can you get us some water, princess?”
You nodded and left the room. The water was in your chamber’s sitting room down the hall. It only took you a minute to walk in and pour a glass from the pitcher. It was a mating gift from the Winter High Lord and High Lady. The pitcher and special glasses were spelled to always keep the water cool. You came back to Eris kneeling in front of Az whispering to him. You could feel the embarrassment Az was feeling in the bond.
“Eris be nice,” you chastised, holding out the glass.
“I am, that’s the problem. Isn't it my star?” Love laced Eris’s tone. “Baby boy can’t take a compliment.”
“Shut up,” Az grumbled.
Eris simply grinned and held the glass to his lips. Az eagerly took the water, draining the glass quickly before turning and gasping. Eris handed you the glass back.
“Is that enough or do you want more?”
“ ‘M fine.”
“We’ll continue then.”
Eris went towards the couch and in a hurry, you winnowed to the sitting room to put the glass down and winnowed back. You could feel Eris laughing at you through the bond. That reminded you to make sure your bond shut to Az again. Eris grinned at you and gestured you over. This time you sat in his lap. He hummed as you draped yourself on him and pulled you close. Eris sent out his flames and Az moaned. You tried to not look, burying your face into the curve of Eris’s neck while his hand slipped between your legs. You squeezed your thighs around his hand.
You whimpered. “Sensitive.”
“You only came once, baby,” Eris said with a chuckle and pushed a finger up between your folds to graze against your clit. “I think you can give me another.”
You shifted without thinking to spread your legs just a bit farther apart. Your breath quickened when he started moving his fingers just the way you liked it.
“That’s my girl,” he whispered. “Can you cum before Az asks to stop?”
“Yea.” You kissed his neck.
“You’re so messy.” He moved his fingers faster. “I can feel you dripping on my pants.”
You keened and to keep from yelling starting sucking that spot near his jaw you knew he liked. You were rewarded with a groan and you felt him start to harden again in his pants. You wanted to draw it out but Eris knew you too well. One shift of his fingers, and you pulled back gasping. You came, clenching on nothing while he rubbed you through it. He pulled his hand back and held it to your mouth.
“Open.”
You obliged and he stuck his fingers in your mouth. You hummed, tasting yourself on them and licked them clean. You almost forgot Az was kneeling across from you.
“Fuck stop. I-” he gasped.
You jerked your head away and Eris pulled back the flames but Az still cursed. A moment later, he groaned when his hips jerked as he came.
Oh no.
You moved off Eris immediately. He stood and magicked the mess away while Az hung his head panting.
“I didn’t tell you to come. You couldn’t even make it past five,” Eris looked down at him, frowning. “Pathetic. Guess we should start over.”
“I can’t.” Tears fell down his cheeks.
“You can’t? Or you won’t? Can’t isn’t our safeword.”
Azriel whined. You looked around the room quickly and an idea came to you. You tugged on the bond to Eris. He turned towards you.
“Suggestions?”
“Maybe instead he can choose a different punishment?”
Eris crossed his arms and watched you go to the wall with the toys. You picked up the paddle and the flogger. Az always liked the flogger more but you were lenient. You walked up to Az and held them out. His shadows swirled around the paddle. You then turned and handed it to Eris.
“Our mate is too kind to you, my star.” He said to Az. “Is this what you want?” Az nodded. “You’ll count; four hits. One for coming when I didn’t tell you to. Three for the rest of the ones you skipped just now.”
“Okay.”
“Do you want to stand or lean on the couch?”
“Stand.” Az muttered. “Wings are stiff.”
Eris grabbed the front of the harness and lifted Az up like he weighed nothing. Of course that did something for you. He brought Az over to the middle of the room. Az let his wings flare out damn near reaching the ceiling. You opened the bond and you could feel the relief coming off him. Eris waited until his wings relaxed and went around him. You hated that you couldn’t see what Eris was doing, but a soft push from the bond told you he wanted Az facing you.
“I’m going to hold you in place and after a hit I want you to say what number you’re on. If you lose count, we start over.”
“Yes sir.” Az stared at the ground.
Eris moved to the left and you saw the swing of the paddle. The smack was loud and Az’s back arched from the hit.
“One,” he gasped.
Eris may as well hit you also for how it shot through you. You moaned, heat flaring between your legs. You couldn’t help it. Eris leaned around to look at you with a dark grin on his face.
“This is new,” Eris ran his gaze over you. “Do you like watching your sir get punished, princess?”
“Yes.” No sense in lying when he could smell you.
Az groaned, his cock jumping against his stomach. Eris must have done something. You could smell Az’s scent become thicker in the air and it made your own core throb.
“Show us,” Eris said. “Show us how hot it makes you to see Az take his punishment.”
“Yes, daddy.”
You settled back on the couch, spreading your legs and propping on foot up on the cushions. Your fingers dipped between your legs and Eris grabbed Azriel’s chin, forcing him to look.
“See that, my star? You could be fucking her right now but you were a brat. Now our princess has to take care of herself.”
Az whined watching you dip your fingers into your cunt. Gods you wanted this to be over. That’s what you focused on while you touched yourself. Maybe tomorrow if Az wasn’t sore you’d both stay in bed. You weren’t even paying attention until you heard the smack and Az count to two. You clenched around your fingers at the noise. The third smack, you squealed, almost coming on your fingers and Az yelled three.
“One more.” Eris whispered. “What’s your color?”
“Green, so fuckin green.” Az panted. He always liked pain the best.
“Don’t you dare cum,” you heard Eris hissed in his ear. “I know you’re thinking about it.”
Indeed, his cock was hard and red again against his stomach. You bit your lip and pulled your fingers out to swirl them on your clit. You looked up to see Az staring you in the eyes.
“I promise.”
You held his gaze as your breath quickened. You opened the bond a little. Your eyes fluttered; Az was definitely riding a high right now. Your gaze went to where Eris was and had stepped back. Your eyes went back to Az’s while the paddle came down.
He yelled; you gasped, coming again for the third time that night.
“Four.” Az sighed.
“Now have we learned our lesson?” Eris asked, dragging his hand along the rope so he could walk in front of Az without letting go for too long.
“Yes, daddy,” Az muttered.
You stood on shaky legs and walked up to them.
“Can I?” You held up your fingers.
Eris chuckled. “Of course, filthy girl.”
You stuck your wet fingers into Azriel’s mouth and he moaned around them. His tongue licked them clean. You pulled them back quickly.
“That’s all you’re getting.”
Az hummed in response, gaze glossy. Eris hand you the paddle. You took it and went to wipe it down while he began to undo the ropes.
“Do you want to talk about it now?” Eris wrapped the silk rope around his hand as he went.
“Bath,” Az grumbled. “I want a bath. Please.”
“Can you sit?” You asked.
You put the paddle away and came up to him. You rubbed his freed arm and wrist while Eris untied the other side.
“That was nothing.” He gave you his signature smirk.
“We will put balm on you after a bath.” Eris replied, matter of fact. “Take him while I put these away.”
You nodded and looped your arm around him. Shadows now flurried around you and you giggled a little when they brushed up against your cheeks. They too, seemed happy they could touch you again. Walk to the bath was short; you used your magic to turn on the water and stop the drain. Az didn’t say anything while the bath filled. You helped him in after grabbing a towel and sitting it on the ledge. He stopped you when you went to pull your gown off.
“If you get in with me, I won’t be able to stop myself.”
You pouted, and pointed to the spot in front of you.  “Even I sit over here?”
Az groaned and slid down the side to lower his wings in the water farther. You noticed his shadows seemed to be hiding- or resting out of sight. Then you smelt Eris before you heard him walk in.
“We can bathe later,” he said, coming up behind you and pulling you in to kiss the top of your head. “Our star needs a reward for behaving.”
Az opened one eye, squinting. “Don’t tease me daddy.”
“You still said it, willingly I might add.” Eris retorted.
“Wet your hair,” you pulled from Eris and walked to the right side of the bath. “I’ll wash it.”
Az grumbled but dunked his head under. You sat on the ledge and grabbed the shampoo, pouring some in your hand before you started running your fingers through his hair. He groaned again and leaned back, letting you slowly massage his scalp. Eris walked around and sat on the left side.
“Are you ready to talk?”
“Yea.” There was silence and finally Az sighed. “I’m sorry for showing out yesterday.”
“Hmmm, and what made you do that?”
You muttered to Az you were going to rinse his hair and you used one of the small pitchers, water pouring over his head and washing the suds away. You grabbed a cloth and soap and started washing his shoulders. You were careful to not touch his wings.
“Rhys was here and-“ he stopped when he noticed you stilled your hand. “I just mean I knew he was here and, I don’t know.” You tugged the bond gently and went back to washing him.
Eris sighed heavily. “Azriel.”
“I’m sorry.” Az hung his head and stared at the water. You rinsed his back and gestured him to lean back. “I wasn’t thinking about his visit being work. I just wanted to show off.”
“Show off?” You tilted your head.
His cheeks darkened under your scrutiny while you scrubbed his chest. You instantly realized this had more to do with Az and Eris’s history than your own.
“I’m all for being territorial and showing off the effects you have on me, but there is a time and place for it,” Eris said sternly. “I forgive you. But if it happens again, I won’t just be punishing you for fun. It doesn’t matter how long it’s been, I’m still a new High Lord in their eyes. That type of bratty behavior in the wrong situation can have dire consequences.”
“I know.” You both heard Az’s voice crack.
“My star,” Eris reached out and cupped Az’s cheek. “I love you.”
“I love you,” he echoed back.
You leaned in and kissed his other cheek. “Let’s finish cleaning you up. Then we can go to bed.”
Eris caught your eye as you leaned back. “I think you should go ahead and bathe also. Two birds, two stones or whatever Lucien heard those humans say.”
“I think I agree.”
You suppressed your grin, dropping the cloth in the waters and pulling off your gown. You climbed into the bath with Az. Eris left to get ready for bed and you took your time finishing cleaning Az and yourself. You both spent a little bit longer in the bath than needed. Mostly lazy kissing and you muttering how much you loved him while the shadows returned and darted around you both. A light tug in your chest made you sigh.
“Eris says we’re taking too long.” Az grunted in response. “Let's get out and go to bed.”
Az sighed. “Okay.”

Tumblr media
It had been a long day at work for you. The data your boss had assigned you had taken you a lot longer to work on than you’d expected, which meant that you actually, genuinely missed your last lecture of the day. You had texted a barely-even-friend that attended the same elective about her notes but you hadn't gotten a text back so far.
Standing in front of your door now, you leaned the crown of your head against the outside of it and took a deep breath in. You had missed the key hole not once but twice now and the anger that welled up inside of you was completely unwarranted, so you knew you needed to mentally take at least one step back.
Four seconds in, seven hold, eight out. In and out. You blinked once and the dark of the wood was an unwelcome reminder of reality. Still, unlocked the door, this time succeeding on the first try.
The hallway was quiet, but you had expected as much. One of your flatmates had a nightshift at the clinic she was working at while the other was sleeping over at her boyfriends. The blissful silence you had looked forward to this morning seemed suffocating now.
It didn’t matter. It was fine like this, you were fine.
After turning on the kitchen light, you walked to your room, put down your bag and fell down onto your bed, face first. The scratchy fabric of your bedcover was not nearly as nice as the sheets you had dreamed of all day long.
For a while you let your eyes fall closed, not asleep, but resting nonetheless. You just wanted to rinse the day off of you, but you were too hungry to even think about showering.
With a groan you peeled yourself off your bed, sat at the edge of your mattress while an inexplicable urge to cry welled up inside of you. Your day had been really shitty and your were really, really hungry.
But you got up anyway and walked towards the light in the kitchen that shone through through the space of the door to your room.
The music you’d put on in the background helped but it didn’t quite scratch that itch for conversation, for company. When you saw your phone light up from where you had left it on the counter, you hoped it might be the classmate you had texted.
You rinsed off your hands to see who had messaged you.
Jack (worst Hughes brother): hey what r you doing tn? You: currently making dinner why what did you do what do you need Jack (worst Hughes brother): nothing  wait why did you assume i did/need sth anyways: can i come over soon?
The shower. You still had to shower, but soon for Jack usually meant at least half an hour. It  should be enough time and besides it was just Jack, no reason to put in more effort than necessary.
You: because you always text me when you need my help sure, I might be eating by then, have you eaten? Jack (worst Hughes brother): I did like 5min ago wait no ignore that, you’re telling me I could have had some of yours??? jkjk see you soon
You liked the last message and turned the heat off your stove. Shower first, you reminded yourself, even as you mourned the loss of the start of your dinner that you had been frying on the stove.
When he knocked at your door you were still sitting at the small kitchen table that could barely seat two people. “It’s open,” you said, loudly.
From the sounds you could hear him open and close the door, take off his shoes and leave his bag in the hallway. When he finally came into your view, you couldn’t help but smile. Strange how that worked, considering you had almost cried half an hour ago. Food really worked miracles sometimes. But then again he had always had that kind of effect on you, making you smile despite yourself.
“That’s not very safe of you,” he had said but he was already smiling, “having your door unlocked.”
“Hey you, fancy seeing you here.”
There was a warm feeling curling itself around your ribcage at the look at him, “hey yourself. I left it open because I knew you were coming over, don’t worry about it.”
“Alright,” he conceded, “did you watch the game yesterday?”
“‘Course I did,” you said, eyes following him as he took a glass from the cabinets and filled it up. There was something intimate about that, the ease he carried himself with, him knowing where to find your glassware and feeling comfortable enough to do so while carrying on with the conversation.
There was something in you that ached at the feeling, at having someone that comes home to you. At having someone that just feels that comfortable with you, that you live your life alongside with.
It’s not like you were lonely, you had wonderful flatmates and good friends, but there was just something different about this feeling, about this longing. Or maybe that was just the effect he had on you, inexplicable as always.
“Good, otherwise I would have felt stupid after my goal.”
You had seen the new ritual he did sometimes that he had been asked about by the media sometimes. He had done it a few times now, more often over this past year. He was approached by his teammates first, but then he was still for a bit, putting his hand on his chest and raising it up after, usually waving once. The warmth that had seeped into your bones crept up to your face, “you did that for me?”
The one time he talked to an interviewer about it, he had said it was a new good luck charm he was trying out.
Because of the small table the two of you sat close and his knee kept bumping into yours, but you hardly paid it any mind. It was comforting, having him here, this close in the low light of the kitchen, cradling one of your glasses in his hands.
Admitting something he hadn’t told anyone else.
“Yeah, of course, had to show my appreciation for my number one fan somehow.”
You laughed a little, “you are such an idiot.”
The smile he gave you in return crinkled up the skin at the corner of his eyes and you wanted to trace that fold with your thumb. What were you even thinking? “I know.”
So you just swatted his shoulder and got up to wash your dish. “Did you guys go out and celebrate?”
Jack turned in his seat, his body facing your back from where he was still sitting at the table, “yeah. It was a really small bar in the middle of nowhere, Nico said he didn’t want to be recognised, despite the win.”
You hummed in response. The constant scrutiny must have been affecting them all after these past few games. “Cool. Did it actually work or,” you trailed off, not really sure how to finish your question.
“Sort of, I mean we took a few pictures when we came in but it was a lot better than usual.”
“I’m glad then,” you said and turned back around to face him, “I’m glad nothing too exciting happened.”
At the word exciting his expression morphed into something odd. “What?” you asked.
“Nothing,” he answered but he wasn’t meeting your eyes anymore.
“You can tell me, you know you can,” you reminded him, now getting closer to him again. You were usually able to get out every last secret of his if you just asked the right questions.
“I know,” he assured you, now pulling you a little closer by your hip and resting his hand there. He had always been touchy like that, arms slung over your shoulders or around your waist, hands holding your wrist to pull you through crowds, thumbs circling your ankle when you rested your legs in his lap.
“But it’s really nothing, I just got a little drunk,” he assured you, but you didn’t really buy it.
Still, you had no real reason to press, knowing that it just made him close up further. He would end up telling you, just not now. “Okay.”
The two of you went back to your room soon after, deciding to watch a movie. You didn’t tell him that you were really, genuinely tired, because you knew he could tell. He always could, somehow, even if you yourself weren’t all that aware of it. Funny how that worked.
You sat down first and then patted the spot next to you on the bed, but for a split second you saw him hesitate. That hurt, just a bit because you had thought that the two of you were close enough for it to not matter anymore.
Still, he leaned against the headboard next to you, his shoulder softly knocking against yours and your worries disappeared at that. You must have imagined it.
“Any preferences?”
“Ratatouille,” you said immediately, not even knowing where that request came from.
He smiled, “I do like a girl that knows what she wants.”
For some reason you blushed at that, at the barely even there implication of being his. You really were going insane today. “Is that okay for you?”
“Sure,” he said, “let's watch the rat be a better cook than the two of us combined.”
You typed the website and clicked play on your screen and settled your laptop down between the two of you, one knee on each side of the bottom of it.
You were suddenly keenly aware of the fact that you didn’t even own a tv, that you were watching a movie from your laptop when he could be at home, watching it on a screen that was at least double the size of this.
It was a stupid thought, so you brushed it off. He was a professional athlete, you were a college student. There was something fundamentally different about your current lives, as intertwined as they were.
The movie started soon after, so you pushed all of that to the back of your mind. At first the two of you ran a semi-steady commentary about what was going on but soon after you were both too engrossed in the story to think about anything fun to say.
When a sharp sound came from the screen you realised that you had your eyes closed. Sleepily you blinked your eyes open again. It must have been for a few minutes, at least because you weren't sure what was going on anymore.
“Tired?” he asked, a knowing glint in his eyes.
You let your forehead fall against his shoulder, this time on purpose. It was a welcome contrast to a few hours ago when you did the same thing against your front door. His shoulder was softer because of his sweatshirt and he smelled nice. Like the shampoo he used, like his laundry detergent. You wondered when that smell had become intrinsically his and not someone else's' like a friend of yours that used the same deodorant.
You kind of wanted to drown in it, but you held yourself afloat anyway. He wasn’t yours, you weren’t his. The two of you weren’t like that.
“Had a hard day at work,” you mumbled, a little more tired now than you’d been just moments ago. His presence did that to you, calmed you down when you didn’t even know you were high to begin with.
He lowered your shoulder a bit which made it more comfortable for you to rest your head on it. “You could have said no, you know that, right?”
But you had wanted to see him once you had seen his message. “I know.”
“Good,” he answered, as if it was as simple as that and remained quiet after that.
You tried to turn your focus back to the movie, you really did, but before you knew it your eyelids were drooping again.
Then you were woken up again, this time by Jack.
The movie must have finished in the meantime because he had moved his arm, closing your laptop. You rubbed your eyes tiredly, trying to form a coherent thought but the only thing on your mind was the warmth of him next to you, the dream that just barely slipped out of your grasp.
“Sorry,” you said.
He turned to you, surprised. “What for? If anything I should apologise, I kept watching even when you were tired.”
“You know I don't mind that,” you said. “I just wasn’t very good company today. Sorry.”
Jack knocked his shoulder against you with a little more purpose so you  turned to him. “Nope, none of that. I don’t mind, I got to see you, which is all I wanted anyway.”
How could he just say something like that? As if words like these didn’t bore themselves under your skin, living there forever, etching themselves into the white of your bones.
This casually, as if it didn’t just make your heart flutter the same way it did when you were eighteen, back when you had loved him. Still, in your barely illuminated room, late at night you let yourself linger. Let yourself pretend that his words held meaning.
Let yourself pretend that the two of you were different.
You thought about the thousands of times you must have seen him just like this, in the dark, looking back at you.
It was a weird memory that came to you, just then.
Back when the two of you had first met you had been crushing hard. It wasn’t really surprising, now looking back. You had never really gotten a lot of attention by boys growing up, so when he went out of his way to talk to you, you really had no choice but to fall for him.
Liking him had become addicting.
You could still remember the moment you thought he might like you back and the very same moment you knew it wasn’t, probably ever, going to work out between the two of you.
It was at a party, after you had just graduated. You had just come out of the bathroom, alone because your friend was finally, finally talking to the guy she liked.
Then you picked up a friend’s voice somewhere down the corner, most likely from the kitchen. “C’mon your turn now. Who are you crushing on,” Aaron had said. They must still be playing a weird mixture of truth or dare and some other game you had already forgotten the name of.
Your mind immediately went to Jack, the way his hand had brushed yours when he had gotten you a drink earlier that night.
“I don't?” Jack answered, slightly laughing, but there was an air of unease in his voice that you couldn’t help but notice.
“C’mon, Jack don’t be like that,” someone else interjected, and suddenly you were a lot more invested in the conversation than just a moment ago. It was always like that when it was about him.
“There are always so many girls throwing themselves at you, surely you want one of them,” you could hear the other guy’s jealousy from miles away but you weren’t sure if the others picked up on it too.
“I’m serious, I barely have time for my friends already, let alone a girlfriend.” Jack said and there was this tiny spark of hope rising in your chest. Maybe you could change that. Maybe you could be the exception.
“True,” Aaron agreed calmer than usual. You thought he might be noticing the tension waving off of the other guy.
“There is no shame in admitting it,” the other guy doubled down, “what about that one girl? Short, brunette, on the track and field club.”
Oh god, he was describing your friend, the one you had just left with her crush. “Nah, wait I think she has a boyfriend, but what about her friend, the one that Kevin hangs out with.”
You. Shit, he was talking about you. Did you really want to hear Jack’s response? What if he said he didn’t like you? But what if he did?
“She is my friend too, you know,” Jack said, “but she is pretty, I guess.”
He guesses? That kind of really stung. You knew that there was nothing all that memorable about you, but it’s not like you were ugly. A thousand different insecurities that you thought you had worked through rose to the surface and you didn’t have the strength to push them back down.
You had to escape, now, without being noticed and without listening to anything more. Still, your ear couldn’t help but pick up on the rest even as you pushed past that guy that sat behind you in math.
“Jack, don’t be like that,” the other guy insisted, “don’t you want to go up to her and just fuck her? I mean her ass-”
Humiliation. For some reason you felt humiliated and violated. You knew about locker room talk, but you had never wanted to be part of it. Tears were beginning to well up in your eyes and suddenly you could feel every single person that had touched any part of you today, suddenly questioning if it really was accidental.
You had to get out, now. The static in your ear was loud and the bass vibrating through the soles of your feet seemed to turn it up even more. You had run away, texting the friend you came with some kind of bullshit excuse for leaving.
The asphalt outside on the sidewalk was cold, but you sat down on it anyway. You just wanted to cry. Everything seemed so overwhelming and important all at once and you had no idea how to deal with all of it.
Soon you were leaving high school for good, your friends were moving all across the country, you were so fucking lonely and the guy you had been crushing on for a better part of a year didn’t even think that you were worthy to look at.
You drew your legs closer to your body and folded yourself up as much as possible. Growing up seemed scary all of a sudden. There was that one Lorde lyric that said that too, that you couldn’t quite pinpoint.
Suddenly people were streaming out of the house, all at once. You wiped your tears, looking up at what was happening. In the stream of people you couldn’t make out any of your friends.
Then you heard your name being called. It was Kevin, still standing at his door. He held Jack at the others shirt collar, as if he was holding up a particularly unruly cat that had gotten in trouble again.
Your eyes must not have been red because when you came closer neither boy commented on it. “Get him home,” Kevin said and dumped a heap of Jack right in front of you.
Jack glared back at where Kevin disappeared back into the house, eyes murderous. You had never really seen him act like that, especially to a friend. But then again how well did you really know him?
A beat of silence. You really wondered what on earth had happened for the party to just end. You shifted your weight on your feet. “Do you have a car?” you asked eventually.
Jack brushed past you, “yeah. I’ll drive you home, didn’t drink anything.”
You followed him, but on the short walk back to his car neither of you said anything.
The stereo remained off all the way back to your place. After you had stopped looking at him to try and figure out what had him in this bad of a mood, you looked outside. The neighbourhood was so familiar, and the horribly sad feeling from earlier came up again.
You really needed some kind of distraction. “Thank you for driving me home.”
For a second he remained quiet and you really thought you were going to be ignored. He had always had a bit of a dramatic streak at times. “Of course.”
His expression remained scarily blank. “Can I ask what happened with Kevin?”
“Nothing,” he said, his gaze staring firmly ahead. Then, “I don’t like his friends.”
What kind of response was that? “Okay,” you tried, carefully, “then why did you come?”
“I didn’t know I didn’t like them before tonight,” he said.
Then you looked at the way his hands were gripping the wheel, specifically at his knuckles. Wait- “did you punch one of them?”
He laughed, and the sound bounced off the small enclosure and some kind of happy feeling made your heart swell, even though you had been apprehensive about him just moments ago.
It was a lot longer than your comment had warranted. You really were a bit concerned about him. Should he be driving if he acted like this? “I might have.”
Before you could ask why, because you had never seen him actually punch anyone, he continued, “in my defense, he started it.”
“That’s a shitty defense,” you said, “that just means you have to be the one to take a step back first.”
He only shook his head in response but you were happy he was back to acting like that Jack you knew. “You would have punched him too, I just know it.”
“Sure,” you replied. You had never punched a person because you didn’t like them and you didn’t think you’d start anytime soon.
“Trust me, you would have,” he said and left it at that.
The two of you arrived at your place soon after, so you thanked him and left.
The rest of the summer between highschool and college was spent getting over him, which you eventually succeeded at when he introduced his now ex-girlfriend to you and your friends.
In college you went out on a few dates, but none of them ended up going anywhere. That was fine to you, because it just meant that you were prioritising other things now, like your studies and your friends.
There wasn’t even anything all that similar between that memory and your current situation, but you drew the comparison anyway. His jaw was more refined now, his hair longer and his eyes seemed different now, a bit more mature maybe. Or maybe just a bit more tired.
“What are you thinking about?” he asked.
It must have been a bit strange, you just looking at him. “You,” you replied honestly. “Do you remember that one party, way back, after high school where you punched someone?”
He groaned and leaned his head back against the wall, his throat exposed. Your gaze lingered there for a bit before returning to his face. Some kind of feeling almost bubbled to the surface at the sound and the matching sight.
“I do.”
“I never actually figured why you did that.” When his gaze remained firmly on your ceiling, you continued, “I feel like now enough time has passed for you to admit why.”
He smiled a bit. “There was this other guy, right? The one I punched, I mean.”
You nodded.
“He was being a real dick about one of my friends, and when he didn’t stop talking about her I just kinda wanted him to shut up. Moved before thinking about it.”
“Asshole,” you commented, not about Jack.
“Right?” he turned his head so that he looked back down to you, “after that one punch I came back to myself but before I knew it Kevin had dragged me out by my collar, shouting that everyone had to go.”
“He must have wanted to avoid a full on fight,” you said.
“For sure, can’t even blame him.” With a mischievous gleam in his eyes he said, “but it felt really good to finally shut him up.”
You laughed, thinking that the entire situation was a lot more dramatic than it really had any reason to be. The laugh turned to a yawn by the end.
“I should leave,” he said but you had the weird urge to ask him to stay.
“Sorry, I’m a lot more tired than I thought,” you said instead.
“Don’t apologise for that,” he said, getting up. He ended up offering you a hand to help you get up as well even though you really didn't need it. You took it anyway.
He picked up the bag that he had left at the door, opened it and turned to you. “I had fun.”
You smiled, “me too.”
“Good,” he offered you a smile in return. You saw his hand reach out and stop for just a second, but before you could ask him about it, he held it against your temple and leaned down to give you a kiss on your forehead. He lingered in your orbit for a bit longer than the duration of the kiss, just hovering above you.
“See you soon,” he said, waving, and you replied the same. Then you closed your door and locked it.
You didn’t need to hold your hand against your cheek to feel it burn. What was that? He had never done that before. He had never done anything like that before, ever.
You stumbled to your bathroom, and went through the motions of brushing your teeth and going on the toilet. When you finally crawled under your sheets, you let yourself sink down into them.
Still, you were too tired to properly dissect the entire interaction so instead you closed your eyes. You drifted to sleep, your mind focusing on the tips of his ears that had seemed a bit flushed when he closed the door behind himself.

➪in which you and bradley hang out for a third time and are both left questioning whether or not a friendship could form between the two of you, or something else entirely.
PSA: strongly suggested to read the warnings before proceeding.

Bradley was still thinking about the quick kiss you pressed to his cheek last night, even a whopping sixteen hours later.
Your lips felt soft and unfamiliar, but he found himself wanting to feel them again. And again.
You had only given him a small, friendly peck, but it was enough to have him driving back to the frat house with a semi that only got worse the longer he let himself think about you.
It was quite ridiculous, the effect you have on him. He felt like a teenager again, getting hard from just a kiss on the fucking cheek.
Still, you were his friend - at least he and you were on the way to being friends - and he didn’t want to let himself think about you like that.
He ended up taking a cold shower then going to bed, but to his surprise, he was still thinking about you when he woke up seven hours later. Why couldn’t he stop thinking about you? He was supposed to be bettering himself so he could get Bri back, but he was barely thinking about her lately.
Bradley grabbed his phone and sat up as he clicked onto his messages, and he saw that Bri hadn’t gotten back to him after he finally texted her a response yesterday.
Typical.
He wished he hadn’t texted her back, because now he had taken the bait she left out and looks like the one who can’t move on, when she so clearly had.
Instead of getting annoyed at her, though, he let his thoughts shift back to you, and he was clicking on your contact before he even realized it.
Would it be too weird to tell you that I thought about you all night?
Morning, by the way.
He figured he had nothing to lose, and if you were weirded out by what he said, then it was a good thing you and he had only hung out twice, so he wouldn’t be giving up too much.
But he should know by now that you two fit each other concerningly well, and how you weren’t one to be scared away by his forwardness.
Y/n: No way, I thought about you, too.
Y/n: Morning, btw.
Bradley felt a dumb grin form on his lips as he checked the time, seeing that it was nearing ten in the morning. He got up and lazily threw his sheets over his bed in a half-assed effort of making it, using his free hand to text you back.
So we’re both thinking about each other. Any suggestions on where to go from here?
He dressed himself in dark jeans and a flannel before throwing his backpack over his shoulder and making his way across campus to his class, and when he found an empty seat and sat down, the text he received from you left him smiling for the most part of the two hour class.
Y/n: Round three?
-
Bradley suggested a movie night at his place since his roommates won’t be home, and you were a bit nervous to go back there since you would be completely alone with him this time and not wedged between him and a wall like you were at the party.
You were also excited, because hanging out with him had been the most fun you’ve had since attending university, and you were in your second year now.
He didn’t need to know that, though.
You tuned out for most of your classes, and when you changed into a pair of sweats and a cropped tee, your phone went off. Thinking it was Bradley, you pick it up with a smile that immediately drops when you read the caller ID.
Luke.
Of course it was him.
Even though you were actively ignoring him, he still wasn’t getting the hint that the relationship was over. You knew you needed to send him a final text and set things straight, because you were ready to move on, and he was making it harder than it should be.
Please stop texting me. We’re done, Luke. I will always be grateful for you and our time together, but it’s time we both move on. I wish you the best.
That sounded nice, right? You hoped so, anyway. You didn’t want to hurt Luke; you simply wanted him to get the message and stop contacting you until you were both over each other. Maybe you could be friends later down the road, but that was a hard maybe. You were never friends with Luke, you went from strangers pretty much right to dating.
You wanted to take your time with your next relationship, whether that was with Bradley or not. Though, you couldn’t be blamed for hoping that he is your next.
With no further communication with Luke, you pocket your phone and start the walk across the reasonably big campus and towards Bradley’s frat house, and you smirk at the reminder of why you set his contact name as Fratley.
You reach the front steps and knock on the door, second guessing your choice of outfit and wondering if it was too casual, but what else were you supposed to wear for a movie night? Comfy casual? Or uncomfortable non-casual?
When Bradley opened the door in a similar outfit, you felt better about yours, and the not so subtle way he looked you up and down definitely had your worries disappearing and your face heating up. “Hi,”
“Hi,” he said back and opened the door a bit further. “Took you long enough, I’ve been cleaning for the last hour and a half.”
You cover your mouth with a quiet laugh and step into the house. “You mean this place doesn’t look like the aftermath of a party all the time?”
Bradley playfully scoffed. “Do you think I enjoy living in that filth? I hibernate in my room half the time to avoid seeing what new mess the guys made,”
You laugh again and follow him into the living room. It looked a lot bigger than the last time you saw it, without all the people, and it was actually quite nice. “Well, I’m not sure how long you spent cleaning in here, but…” You turn to smirk at him, finding him already looking at you. “Good job.”
He holds his arms out and leans down in a bow. “Thank you,” he returned your smirk. “Did it all for you. I wasn’t kidding when I said I was thinking about you.”
You blush and look away before he could see the affect his words have on you. “It’s nice to see this place not crowded,” you change the subject and move to sit on the couch. “I can’t believe we met at a party here.”
Bradley stays where he is, the smirk still painted on his lips as he crosses his arms. “Yeah, well, if I had known this was going to happen, I would have agreed to that party a lot sooner,”
You playfully roll your eyes. “You’re full of it,”
He laughs and gestures to the doorway that leads to the kitchen. “You pick the movie and I’ll grab the snacks. Are you feeling like soda or something stronger?”
You debate it for a few seconds and come to the conclusion that you don’t want to be drunk this time around, but one drink wouldn’t hurt. “How about one beer and one soda?” You suggest and he nods with a thumbs up before disappearing into the kitchen.
Your face was still a bit hot as you sat by yourself, and you knew you needed to get a grip. Bradley was just another guy; a cute, funny and confident guy.
Yeah, you were fucked.
Bradley still hadn’t come back when your phone went off, and when you saw that it was Sam calling you, you declined it and opened your text thread with her to let her know that you were busy at the moment. Then she beat you to it.
Sammy: YOU BROKE UP WITH LUKE????
Your heart dropped a bit, though you’re not sure why. You didn’t just break up with Luke, the break up happened months ago, and Sam knows this.
Sammy: Y/n what the fuck
Sammy: You guys were supposed to work it out.
You scoff and type out a response, and you were a bit annoyed that Luke went running to his sister and your fucking roommate instead of moving on and letting things go like an adult would.
We broke up months ago, Sam. That’s not new news. I’m busy right now, so I can’t talk about this. And I don’t want to. I’ll see you at home later.
You lock your phone just as Bradley returns with three cans in one hand, and another can and a bowl of chips in the other. You were a bit impressed as you reached up to take the three cans from him with a laugh. “Wow, no need to show off,” you joked and he shook his head with a smile as he set the bowl down onto the coffee table.
“I don’t like making more than one trip,” he replied and you hum in agreement as you take a chip and watch as he sits next to you. He left very little room in between you, but you didn’t care a bit. This close proximity allowed you to inhale the piney scent of his cologne and see every fleck of gold in his brown eyes.
Oh yeah. You were seriously fucked.
-
Bradley’s plans of getting Bri back had been completely pushed to the back of his mind, and it’s been that way since he met you.
The more he thought about it, he realized he didn’t miss her as much as he did that morning she broke up with him. He was far too preoccupied with thoughts of you, and that scared him a bit for a few reasons.
One; he met you only a few days ago and has spent more time with you than he has with the majority of his friends.
Two; he was supposed to be focusing on trying to fix things with Bri but wasn’t putting much effort at all into that task at the moment as he sits literally right next to you on the couch.
And three; Eli and Wes might start to believe he’s actually going through with the stupid bet.
Which wasn’t what was happening at all. Yeah, you were the girl he drunkenly and stupidly picked when he came up with the bet, but he was hanging out with you because he wanted to. Not because he was planning on getting money out of it.
“Did you pick a movie?” He asked as you leaned back on the couch and opened your beer, and he couldn’t deny that he found the way you liked his favorite type of beer attractive. You were really attractive, there was no questioning that.
You freeze for a couple seconds before giving him a shy smile. “I did not,”
He laughed and grabbed the remote from off the coffee table and leaned back as well. “Well, pick something,” he said and handed you the remote.
“Why me?” You pout and flip through the possible options of movies. “I don’t know what kind of movies you like.”
“I’ll watch anything,” he shrugged and opened his beer, hoping the cold liquid would help ease his heated body. He had no idea why he reacted to you like this, but he felt like an out of control teen all over again for the second time this week.
You huff and skim through a few more comedies before settling on a horror movie from the 90s, and Bradley lifted a brow at your choice. “What?” You asked as you tossed the remote onto the cushion beside you and crossed your legs.
“Nothing,” he answered, nonchalantly draping his arm across the back of the couch. “I just didn’t take you as a scary movie girl.”
You scoff and glance up at him. “The scarier the better,” you say back and he swore you moved a little closer to him.
“Don’t tell me you’re one of those people who can watch a horror film then sleep peacefully right after,” he challenged, daring to move his leg just an inch closer to yours.
You shrugged and gave him that unbelievably sexy smirk he loved seeing. “Like a baby,”
He refrained from asking you to marry him right then and there, and instead he shifted his attention to the TV mounted on the wall and kicked his feet up onto the coffee table. “You’re crazy,” he uttered as he kept his eyes on the screen.
You laugh quietly and sip on your beer as the movie begins.
Bradley had no idea when the small gap between his body and yours became non-existent, but as he held you against his side with his arm around your shoulders and your beers discarded, he didn’t care to know.
You were warm, and it might’ve been from the blanket he threw over the both of you, but he liked to think it was because you were feeling the same way he was.
Your body fits damn near perfectly with his, your height difference making it easy for him to hold you like this without his arm cramping up.
About an hour into the movie you had fallen asleep, your head pressed against his chest and your arm draped over his lap. You had shifted like that in your sleep, and he borderline loved the way your body reacted to his, even while you were sleeping. He turned the sound down a bit until he could barely hear it, but he didn’t mind the fact that he had to really strain to be able to understand what was happening.
Bradley felt himself falling asleep, too, when your phone lit up from its place on the coffee table. He didn’t mean to, but his gaze naturally shifted to the lit up screen and he accidentally ended up reading the text you received.
Luke: What a fucking waste of time, huh? We get into one fight and you just decide to check out? Fuck you, Y/n. Don’t talk to me ever again.
Bradley could only assume that Luke is your lovely ass of an ex boyfriend, and he felt his brows furrowing as a warmth settled over his face.
Who the fuck did this guy think he is? No wonder you broke up with him.
Bradley never talked to Bri like that, or really anyone for that matter, let alone someone he loved. Luke loved you? As if.
He wanted to grab your phone and call the fucker, but you shifted again and drew his attention away from your bad choice of a boyfriend. You pulled the blanket up further and nuzzled your face against the side of his neck, and he felt himself calming down a bit as your quiet and even breathing met his ears.
You were so sweet, how could anyone ever talk to you like that?
Without meaning to, Bradley fell asleep with his chin resting on the top of your head, and the next morning he had a pain in his neck so fucking bad, he nearly got up to take enough painkillers to knock him back out again so he could sleep it off.
Then he glanced down at you, still asleep on his chest, and he thought that maybe it was worth it since he got to wake up to the pretty sight.
The TV had turned off automatically during the night, leaving the living room dark as he had closed the curtains before you got here yesterday. He grabbed his phone and squinted at the brightness as he checked the time. It was almost nine in the morning, and he knew he needed to get ready for his class that was in about an hour, but he really did not want this little moment with you to end just yet.
Reluctantly, he gently began shaking your shoulder after a few more minutes had passed. “Y/n,” he quietly said, watching as you began to stir. “Wake up, babes.”
He didn’t mean to call you that, it just slipped out, but the way you slowly sat up and grinned over at him made him want to call you that all the time. “Morning, babes,” you greet in a hoarse voice, reaching up to rub at your eyes as the blanket falls from your shoulders. “What time is it?”
“Almost nine,”
You gasped, “In the morning?”
“Yeah,” he laughed and began massaging his neck, trying to work out the kink he felt.
“Shit,” you mutter and grab your phone, making Bradley remember the rude text you got from Luke. He hated the fact that he knew what you would be reading the next time you checked your phone, and he wished he could’ve done something about it but knew it wasn’t his place. He’d let you tell him more about your ex if you wanted to, and he’d keep his opinions to himself for now. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to fall asleep and stay over.”
“It’s okay,” he waved you off and slumped back against the couch again. “You must’ve needed it. You slept for quite a while.”
You blush and smooth out your hair. “I should get going, I have class soon,”
Bradley nodded and watched as you stood up. “Do you want a ride back to your place? I’m going that way anyway,” he offered. “I need coffee.”
You laugh and look down at your casual outfit, which was strangely sexy to him. “You know, usually I’d turn down a three minute drive and just walk, but I don’t really want to be seen in this so early in the morning, so yeah,” you answer and pull the blanket off him, folding it and setting it aside.
He huffed out a laugh and stood up as well. “Let’s go then,” he said and began walking with you to the front door. “You look hot, by the way. You shouldn’t care what people see you in.”
You blush again and glance back into the living room, seeing the scattered beer and soda cans. “I can help clean up first,”
“No, it’s alright,” he grunted and grabbed his keys from off the table near the door. “I’ll do it later. I don’t ever make a mess, so the guys won’t get pissed at me for leaving it like that.”
Nodding, you step outside when he opens the door and walk out to the Jeep. Once you are inside, you turn to him with a small smile. “I keep saying this, but I had fun last night,” you say quietly as he reversed out of the driveway. “I know I fell asleep pretty early on, but still.”
Bradley laughed and put the car in drive. “I had fun, too,” he said. “You weren’t kidding about the whole ‘falling asleep after horror movies’ thing, huh?”
You covered your mouth as you laughed, too, and Bradley wondered why you often did that, but now wasn’t the time to ask. “Nope,”
The drive was a short one, and two minutes later he was pulling up to your dorm and regretting not offering to walk with you instead of driving as it would’ve given him a few extra minutes with you.
He put the car in park then turned to you, meeting your eye as you unbuckle your seatbelt. “Thanks for the ride,” you say in a teasing tone.
Bradley laughed quietly, reaching over to tuck your hair behind your ear. Then he leaned in and kissed your cheek like you did with him after dinner at Five Guys, and when he pulled away he saw that a pretty blush had taken over your face again. “No problem,”
You smile again and hop out of the car, getting to the third step and hesitating for a few seconds before you turn around and make your way to the driver’s side door. You pull it open and grab a fistful of his shirt, guiding him into a kiss he was all too willing to accept. It didn’t last long, unfortunately, but it still left the both of you wearing dumb smiles when you pulled away. “I’ll see you later?” You whisper and he nods, reaching up to gently tug on your bottom lip before your smile grows and you step away, closing the door afterwards.
You give him a small wave before disappearing into the dorm and leaving Bradley with a heat deep in his body. He had to force himself to drive to the coffee shop a few minutes away, and then back home once he got his fix.
When he entered the house, he saw Eli sitting on the couch with a smirk on his face. “Fun night?” He asked as he nodded towards the cans and empty bowl. “Was it Bri?”
Bradley scoffed as he put his coffee cup down and began gathering up the cans. “No,” he answered and put the cans into the bowl. “Y/n.”
Eli’s smirk grew at that and Bradley instantly regretted telling him about you. “Ah, Y/n,” he laughed. “You really want that money, huh?”
Bradley narrowed his eyes. “No, actually, I don’t,” he replied and grabbed his coffee again. “I don’t want your stupid money, okay? I like Y/n, really. She’s nice and so not the person I thought she was.”
Eli just nodded but was still wearing that stupid smirk as he looked back down at his phone, and it made Bradley feel a bit uneasy.
“I’m not kidding,” he warned. “Let it go.”
Eli raised his hands in surrender. “I’m chilling, man,” he muttered but Bradley knew better.
But he refused to waste his time trying to get his friend to understand him when he knew it wouldn’t make a difference. So he just left him there and brought the bowl to the kitchen before getting ready for class, still thinking about the kiss he shared with you that he wished was so much longer.
He already couldn’t stop thinking about the peck you gave him on the cheek, but now he had gotten a taste of the real thing, and he was so close to throwing out every promise he made to himself about bettering himself for Bri and giving all his time to you.

i do (only exist for you)
word count: 1.8K content warnings: unhealthy relationship dynamics, objectification (not at reader), violence (relatively vague/not super explicit but not minor), emetophobia, they/them is used for reader
characters included: childe
a/n: this is a repost (heavily edited in some parts, lightly edited in others)! and a sequel to this. like the previous installment, you can read this as a standalone modern au thing, but it'll make more sense with the previous context. also on ao3! next part
Tumblr media
the two of you aren’t actually married yet, but with the way your ajax treats you, you might as well be.
"I’ve placed your lunch in your bag along with the homework assignments you left out yesterday. remember to eat it this time, okay? and don’t forget the train leaves late today." you’re too sleepy to protest as he sticks your arms into a coat, one that you only realise is his once he’s done zipping it up.
"we’re going to the same class," you supply groggily, rubbing at your eye while he smoothes out your hair. "…didn’t you go to sleep after me? where do you get all this energy from?"
"yeah, but it feels more homely if I tell you all this before we leave the apartment." he says, smoothening out your hair again (you think he just likes having an excuse to touch you) and wrapping a scarf loosely around your neck.
you’re surprised he hasn’t started calling it our apartment at this point, but you’re not going to give him the idea lest he actually starts doing so.
he puts a surprising amount of effort into tucking the scarf into his coat properly, and you have to admit he’s very good at bundling you up. you feel super cozy. "being able to care for you is all the motivation I need to wake up early to make you breakfast."
you hum, pressing your head into his shoulder, close to drifting off again, until his words set in and you recoil. "wait wait, how early exactly? please tell me you got more than three hours of sleep."
he laughs heartily, his hand coming up to caress your cheek. "aww, are you worried about me?" you weakly swat at his arm and he laughs again. "don’t worry, don’t worry, not that early. I woke up at seven."
you sigh and he pulls you in for a kiss. when he pulls away, his eyes are full of adoration. "I love you."
"the bed was empty when I woke up at six briefly."
he chuckles again, but it has a nervous tinge this time. "aha, busted…"
you sigh once more, zipping up his coat for him. he beams down at you as you do, fondness dancing in the way his eyes creak whenever he’s in your presence. "come on, we’re going to be late."
"right," he says, picking up both of your bags and holding on to your hand and then somehow still locking the door behind you singlehandedly.
the two of you burst out laughing when you realise he forgot to take off his apron when you arrive and take off your coats.
"all the more to prove to everyone else I’m your soon-to-be husband." he winks at you, ruffling your hair when you tell him there’s still a couple years left before either of you graduate.
Tumblr media
"ajax."
he sighs contently, nuzzling into you. "I love it when you say my name."
"ajax," you say his name slightly louder, "let me out."
the arms around you tighten. "no."
you groan, throwing your head back. "ajax, I need to load the washing machine."
he whines against the crook of your neck. "no, you don’t."
"ajax…"
"I can do it later, okay? don’t leave my arms."
"your arms are not the only thing trapping me here," you say, but his legs just tighten around you and you find yourself even more pressed against his chest. "and someone needs to do it."
he whines again. "I don’t like it when you leave my arms."
you poke his side, unimpressed. "we can hold hands while I do it then."
he tuts, pressing his face deeper into your hair. the next time he speaks, it’s directly above your ear. he sounds more serious than he usually does. "but you shouldn’t have to do any work. I wish you just sat back and let me do it all."
you sigh. this sort of conversation has been happening more and more frequently lately, especially since you accepted his proposal. "come on, not this again… a healthy relationship is about giving and taking in eq—"
"but I want to do all the giving and I want you to do all the taking." you close your mouth and stop talking when he presses you further into him. "I meant it, you know? I want to take care of you."
frustration seeps through his words when he speaks, more than you’ve ever heard from him before. "aren’t people supposed to like it when they’re spoiled? you’re the most special person in my life, and I want to do everything for you. you shouldn’t have to lift a finger, and I hate that this world is so against that. if this were…"
he cuts himself off and quiets for a few seconds. with your face still pressed against his chest, the only thing you can hear is your quiet breathing and his heartbeat.
"I hate that you won’t let me treat you like you should be treated."
"ajax…" your hand moves up from where it was resting on his back to comb through his hair gently.
he whimpers and squishes his face against the side of your head. "I really love it when you say my name."
both of you remain quiet for a bit. you’re tempted to forget about the laundry, close your eyes and drift off, when ajax speaks up again. "I’m yours. you shouldn’t hesitate to make use of me."
even in the heat of the moment, that sort of line sounds a lot more romantic in fiction.
he coos into your ear when you scratch his head lightly. "ajax, you don’t just exist to be used by others. there’s more to you than just that."
"I do," he insists, but quiets down and doesn’t argue further.
"I do only exist for you," he says again, a while later when you’ve pretty much fallen asleep in his arms.
even after two years of living together, you still refuse to use him as you should or let him treat you like you deserve to be treated. it makes him feel all sorts of bitter; he doesn’t want to (and doesn’t deserve to) force you into anything, but whenever you push him away, it stings.
whenever you put distance between the two of you and insist on straining yourself, he feels like he’s failed you. it just further drives home that he’s really so worthless that you can’t rely on him, and he knows this isn’t a problem getting stronger for you will fix.
it’s been a long, long time since he felt this useless. he loathes the feeling.
Tumblr media
ajax stretches, not missing the opportunity to flex his body. "that was fun! I don’t mind if you cling onto me a bit more next time, though… you’re so cute when you get startled by the jumpscares."
"mhm, sure." you pay his obvious attempt at showing off no mind and instead let out a yawn. "want to get something to eat? I’m hungry."
"are you sure you don’t want to head home?" you nod, reaching for his hand. he intertwines his fingers with yours eagerly. "do you have any place in mind? my treat."
"it’s always your treat." you roll your eyes, but lead him towards the restaurant you’d been thinking of regardless.
"of course," he laughs. "what sort of fiancé would I be if I didn’t pay for your food?"
"what sort of fiancé does that make me, then?"
he laughs and you remember why you fell in love with him again.
"don’t be silly. it’s your job to get spoiled rotten by me." he tugs on your arm, pulling you closer to him, and presses his lips to your cheek.
"if you spoil me too much I’ll go bad for real, you know."
despite the joking undertone, he looks displeased and he tugs on your cheek, pouting. "of course not. and even if you did, I’ll still love you."
you huff, unable to stop yourself from laughing, and elbow him. "you’re so—"
you cut yourself off when you notice the hooded person standing imposingly in front of both of you. immediately, you feel ajax stiffen and step slightly in front of you, but he doesn’t seem particularly threatened so much as just wary and protective.
once he realises he’s been noticed, the man in front of the both of you tilts his head. "hand over all your money, and I won’t have to get violent."
"hah," ajax barks, sardonic and entirely foreign to your ears. "I don’t think so."
the next few moments go by in a flash.
grunting, the attempted mugger pulls out a knife and dives forward. you barely register how you’ve stepped back out of instinct before he’s completely soaked and there’s a large gash across his torso.
nobody moves for a couple seconds, until the guy’s eyes trail down hesitantly and he goes white. his arms immediately come to cradle his stomach. "what the fuck—"
it takes you another second to realise what’s happened. bile rises up your throat.
there’s a part of you that’s relieved it’s winter, that the sun has already set and there’s not too many people around, that you’re not about to get robbed at knifepoint.
"I’ll kill you if you touch them." your fiancé’s tone is much darker than you’ve ever heard when he speaks. you’ve always known he wasn’t the type to shy away from conflict, but the way he says it just after cutting open someone else makes the hair on your arms raise.
"you fucking bitch—" the other guy doesn’t get a chance to get anything else out before ajax kicks him. you feel your stomach tense at the squelching sound he makes when ajax’s foot comes into contact with his torso.
you feel worse when he grabs the man’s hair and wrist, a pained shout and loud crunch accompanying the drop of the knife.
the hairs at the base of your head rise at his tone. "I told you, don’t touch them." you block out the rest of what he says, but from the way the mugger’s face pales even further it can’t have been anything good.
you swallow down the urge to vomit and tug on ajax’s sleeve. for a moment, you’re worried he’s going to turn violent on you, but it barely takes him a second to turn to you, and when he does his face is relaxed and smiling like he usually does.
whatever your expression looks like, he softens as soon as he sees it. his hands are off the mugger soon and then he’s all but pulling you into his chest. you think you hear the guy run off, but it’s hard to focus on anything but the way ajax soothingly rubs your back and murmurs apologies into the crown of your head.
if he feels how much you’re shaking, he doesn’t comment on it. or rather, he just apologises more.
you have a feeling he’s apologising more for the fact that you saw him like that and that he scared you than what he actually did.
and above all, you hate the part of you that feels exhilarated about him loving you.

My Heart, My Ruin (Prolouge/?)
Tumblr media
22 ac Kingslanding
Maegors pov
I could hear my good-sister's screams well into the night. I finally gave up trying to fid sleep once the hour of the owl came, I climbed out of my bed and went to where I knew my brother would be waiting until his wife had given birth to their child. She’s been in labor since yesterday at the hour of the wolf, surely she should have had the babe by now.
When I walked in I saw mother and father standing next to each other whispering as my brother sat in a chair sobbing.
“What’s wrong, she’s been in labor since yesterday, shouldn’t the babe be here?” I ask as I rub the drowsiness from my eyes.
I watch mother and father look at each other silently having a conversation with only their eyes. Probably deciding if I should know or not. But it is not them who answers but my sniffling brother.
“The babe won’t come, the Maesters think Alyssa’s contractions are too weak.” Aenys sobs out.
“These are just guesses my son, they are giving her a concoction now to strengthen them.” Father says rubbing Aenys back as he sobs into his hands.
I look at Mother and see a scowl on her face, she never liked how Father treats Aenys compared to me says he “treats him like some infant looking for their Mother’s teat.” and in this moment of watching his brother sob so openly, he wonders if his mother is right.
“What would happen if the concoction doesn’t work?” I ask looking from my brother to my Mother.
“Then we will have to choose who lives, the babe or the Mother.” Mother responds in a cold calculating tone. This only makes Aenys sob more.
“But it will not come to that, we have the greatest Maesters in all of the seven Kingdoms we have nothing to fear.” Father says trying to reassure Aenys again as he glares at Mother.
Mother scoffs and takes a sip of her amber gold wine, she doesn’t like it as much as Dornish red but ever since Rhaenys death she won’t touch anything to do with the Dornish. She often says. “They took my sister with that scorpion arrow, I suppose I am glad they had horrible aim and Meraxes did not perish either. If this, me not drinking their wine is the only way I can show how I hate them, then I will.”
Mother and Father say Meraxes had seen the arrow coming, she had tried to dive so it wouldn’t his either her or Aunt Rhaenys, but she hadn’t noticed quick enough, and the arrow had split her in two. Meraxes has been inconsolable since her rider’s death, but Father has said he swears he sees her flying above Kingslanding over the last moon, as if looking, searching for something. This is odd as she much prefers the sulfur rocks and salty air of Dragonstone compared to Kingslandings stench and filth.
I can not blame the dragon though, I do as well, I’d much rather be on our ancestral home instead of this filth-ridden city.
We all flinched, well besides Mother, when we hear a bone-chilling scream from Alyssa, and then it all went quiet. I hear Aenys sob more thinking his wife as perished until we hear the cries that only a healthy babe could make.
Aenys bolts out of his chair and rushes to his wife, Mother, and Father not far behind them. I sigh in relief knowing I can finally get some much-needed sleep.
The next morning I go to visit my new niece, when I enter I see my good-sister asleep on the birthing bed with new sheets dorning it so the stench of blood isn’t as pungent in the air. I turn and look at my brother who is smiling down at a bundle in his arms.
Are babes truly that small, Alyssa was huge and the bundle doesn’t even reach the length of my brother's forearm.
I’m cut out of my musing when Aenys looks at me smiling waving me over trying to keep quiet as to not wake his wife or the babe.
“Come meet your niece, Rhaella.” He says as he rests the babe into my arms making sure I hold her right.
When I look down I see her looking up at me with the most gorgeous lavender eyes I’ve ever seen, they take my take my breath away. I shake my head trying to gain my bearings again.
“She’s so small, is she supposed to be this small?” I ask as I move some of the blanket to see a swarm of silver-white curls atop her little head.
“I had asked the Maesters the same thing, they said it’s normal for the first to be small.” He responds touching the tufts of hair upon her head.
I nod not taking my eyes off hers, I couldn’t look away even if I wanted to. I sit on a plush armchair staring at her, staring at the very being who seems to keep my heart pumping now, the very thing I will always adore and cherish, the one thing, one person I could never hurt. I knew in this moment she would be the very focal point of my heart, but she would also be my very ruin.
Special thanks to my bestie @sugutoad for making the Header for this fic!!! I swear I'd be lost without you Girly!

[ regretful ] + lando norris maybeeee ? <3
p.s i absolutely adore your writing 💞
[ regretful ] for a kiss meant to apologise with lando norris.
it was a very nice restaurant, you had to admit. you had asked charles for a recommendation, since you and lando were both new to monaco, and he’d given you the name of his favourite place. it was expensive sure, but you had decided lando deserved a nice night out. he’d been working non—stop since you moved, you’d barely seen him, so at the first chance of an evening off you booked the restaurant.
it felt less and less like a nice restaurant the longer you sat, alone, waiting for your boyfriend to appear. you suddenly felt incredibly self—conscious, amongst the glitz and glamour, the dress you had picked out looking progressively worse in your eyes the longer you felt people looking at you.
lando had agreed to meet you there at seven, after his meetings, and it was now sixteen minutes past eight. he wasn’t answering his texts, and you were sure you might cry from embarrassment if the waiter asked you “are you still waiting on someone?” one more time.
“i’m sorry, there seems to have been an emergency,” you lied, making your apologies to the hostess, before slipping out of the restaurant with burning cheeks. it wouldn’t have been half as bad if you hadn’t heard the whispers of nearby tables mentioning who you were, who your boyfriend was. monaco was smaller than you thought, and now people knew you’d been stood up by lando norris, top formula one driver.
when you arrived back at your apartment, it was cold and empty. there was no sign of lando, in person or on your phone. your new dress discarded in a corner, you pulled on a pair of pyjama bottoms and an old mclaren sweater, wallowing on the couch with yesterdays leftovers and gossip girl playing on the television.
the door clicked open around eleven o’clock, and you heard lando hurry in, slightly out of breath from his rush home. you clicked pause on your episode, turning to look coldly at him over the back of the sofa.
“i waited an hour for you,” you told him, before he could spout excuses. “an hour of pity from the waiters and whispers from stupid people sat next to me. it was embarrassing, lando.”
“i’m sorry,” he whispered, dropping his bag and stalking over to the couch. “the meetings were hectic and i just lost track of time and then it was too late. i’m so sorry, love.”
you bit down hard on your lip, the tears that had been threatening to spill all night finally taking liberty. lando sighed, his stomach twisting. he hated the sight of you crying, always had.
“i just wanted one night,” you manage to choke out, curling into yourself. “but you’re always so busy. we’ve lived here for three months and haven’t spent any time together, lando.”
lando winced, the months catching up on him. squeezing next to you, he pulls your frame into his lap and holds you close, mind racing with ways to make it up to you. he’d been so busy, he’d forgotten to prioritise you — the love of his life. the person who gave up everything to move out here with him, because he’d asked you to.
“listen to me,” he murmured, making you look up at him with big, wet eyes. “i love you so much. i know i’ve been awful recently at showing it, but i do. i’m going to take some time off, i don’t care what anyone says, and we’re going to spend every day together. okay?”
you nod, wiping at your eyes. lando smiles, though it’s full of sadness, and hooks his knuckle under your chin to raise you lips to his. tender and loving, pouring everything he couldn’t say into one kiss, softly sucking at your bottom lip.
“you make it really hard to stay mad at you,” you pout, gazing up at his doe eyes. he smiles, that boyish, toothy smile that makes your chest swell.
“i love you too, baby.”

Tumblr media
the morning air is definitely not good for the lungs. in a busy city, long gone were the fresh and cool winds of the province. instead, fog and vehicle smoke fill the atmosphere, smothering people on their way to work.
what a dull world to live in, nagi thinks. making his way towards the elevator after mindlessly showing his identification card to the probably half asleep desk attendant and high-fiving the friendly janitor who never fails to greet him every morning.
ding! as the doors slid open, nagi could feel himself melting to the ground. it’s 7:54 am, office hours start at seven. he’s late but so what? it’s not like his boss cares enough for attendance. because of this, he gets an extra 10 minutes to sleep in. so why? why is the elevator so full of people that he has to squish his 190 cm build who’s carrying a briefcase? sighing dejectedly, nagi thinks he should’ve just taken the stairs.
it was silent. other than the constant whirs of the elevator going up, no one dares speak a word. it makes nagi cringe, to be honest. he feels like he’s in a room with a bunch of npc’s just trying to do their role. as soon as the lift stops at the thirteenth floor, nagi is pushed left and right as his fellow employees rush to their desks.
nagi walks over to his desk sluggishly. each step just adds to his growing boredom. the office is still the same as ever. the coffee that toppled over yesterday is still left unclean and the corner plant who has seen better days.
dragging his feet to his assigned cubicle, nagi sat down with a huff. looking around, he notices mr. takahashi, his senior who has worked here for more than ten years, standing in front of the water dispenser just staring into space. yep. this will be a long seven hours.
throughout the day, nagi felt nothing but exhaustion and endless boredom. his boss was nowhere to be found, as usual. he went to three different printers in the office and not a single one of them worked. he couldn't even concentrate on the report he was working on because the beeping from his co-worker's game almost made him pull out his own console and neglect his duty. during lunch, two people whose names nagi didn't even care to know about kept snickering while looking back at him eating his melon bread. how bothersome, indeed.
as soon as the clock strikes four, nagi wasted no time in tidying up his things. rushing towards the exit, nagi even ditches the elevator and ran down the stairs instead, he high fived the janitor for the second time of the day.
while on the bus, nagi decided to play games to pass time. taking in his homescreen wallpaper. a picture of you two at a park, his arms around you from behind, his cheek squished against your own. you beaming at the camera and him having the most miniscule smile ever known to man.
two years ago, you got an offer to study abroad in an exchange student program. at first, you refused, not wanting to leave nagi behind and came along were the doubts if you're even gonna survive in a foreign place all on your own. but nagi talked to you about it and urged you to just go, he'll be fine. he was not fine. during the first week, nagi couldn't sleep. he felt homesick in his own home. at some point, he's even thankful his job is everyday and keeps him away from home, nagi can't believe he ever thought that.
and now, nagi's on his way to the airport. to pick you up. because finally, after two whole long torturous years, you're coming home. to him.
nagi waits at the doors, anxiously tapping his feet. looking ahead, his eyes met yours and all of a sudden, the world doesn't seem so dull anymore. he watches as you run towards him, dropping your baggage at your wake and throwing yourself at him. arms around his neck and legs around his waist, nagi holds you tightly as if he's afraid to let you go again. he pulls your face back, his palm feels warm on your cheek.
"hi, sei. did you miss me?" you whispered, oh so delicately. nagi didn't utter anything back, only staring at you. eyes wandering around your features, rememorizing the face he's only been seeing inside a tiny box for the last two years. nagi leans in slowly, taking your lips in his. he kisses you with longing and fervor.
"missed you. i missed you so much." you heard him mumble into the kiss. pulling back only to hide his face in your neck, nipping at the skin before putting you down.
"let's go home?" you ask him, hands cupping his face. he nods.
home. nagi thinks it's a nice word when you say it.

Chapter Six> < > Epilogue
Stray dogs lazed around, with the sun’s rays kissing them gently. A lone car drove by.
Hari Prakash yawned discreetly.
Khushi knew he had a barrage of questions for her. After all, she had woken him up to drive her an hour before the actual timing!
But she couldn’t tell him what even she didn’t know yet….
Even now, she knew it was a gamble to assume Arnav would be there just because Aman mentioned once that he always liked to be in the office before his employees.
What an odd man!
——————
Her cold hands knocked on his cabin door.
“Come in, Aman “
Hesitating at that, Khushi took another moment before going in.
He sat hunched over a piece of paper, while a bunch of files lay haphazardly around him.
A strand of hair marred his forehead, his eyes scrunched with focus.
He finally looked up, dropping his pen as he stood up.
“Khushi?”
“I wanted to ask you about yesterday “
He bit his lip and she resisted the urge to blush at the action.
“So Miss Gupta. You are here an hour early because you wanted to ask me about….?”
“Yesterday “ she repeated innocently.
“What about it?” He pushed the files aside.
“You left me without saying a word-“
“I did say a word”
“ ‘No’ doesn't count!” She almost scolded before seeing the smirk on his face.
Realising he was wearing her thin, he put up his hands in surrender.
“Okay, I admit I was not expecting the news”
“And what about dinner?”
“Your father got the deal, didn’t he tell you?” He stepped around his table and walked up to her.
“So you and your dad came to dinner to celebrate the deal?” She frowned.
“Smart girl, “ he whispered.
“How dare y-?”
He cut her off with an arm around her waist as she was pulled up against him.
“What are you doing?”she gasped.
“What I have been wanting to do since you sat there sipping whisky, dancing and wearing that dress which made me want to rip it right off you”
His husky whisper made her shiver.
“Arnav” she moaned as he pulled her closer.
“Khushi” he whispered as his nose nudged hers.
Their eyes caught each other for a moment . A moment before he kissed her.
She clutched his shirt as he kissed her softly. Tenderly. Her knees trembled. Her hands shook with desire. She parted her lips, and he thrust in letting his tongue twirl around hers.
Too much. This was too much.
Sensing her need to breathe , he let her lips go. But there was no respite as he kissed hotly down her throat. She felt feverish with lust when his hand wrapped around her breast.
“God” she called out.
“Arnav “ he corrected cheekily.
He claimed her lips again. Another swift kiss later, they held each other as their breathing calmed.
“Breakfast?”he grinned.
——————
The majestic view of Lucknow glittered, as Khushi sat on the beautiful terrace of an English breakfast place. They seemed to be the only customers this early in the morning.
She wondered vaguely about Arnav vanishing as soon as he drove them here.
What’s taking him so long?
She looked around again, smiling when she caught sight of him.
“Where have you been?”
“Oh, Aman called for something “
The waiter set down the pancakes and bowls of banana yoghurt.
Arnav grabbed the teapot and started pouring it into her cup, his hands trembling slightly.
“Arnav?”
His eyes melted something in her. She was used to the devilish glint in them. This new vulnerability he was unravelling for her to see, made her heart flutter.
“Khushi I….” He looked around nervously.
He shuffled his pocket before he set something on the table.
A flask of whiskey. Her flask of whisky.
She looked at him in disbelief, as he smiled helplessly.
“I stole for the first time in my life because of you Khushi Gupta “
He gently took her hands in his own.
“ I meant what I said….You had me smitten the moment I saw you”
Khushi didn’t know what to say. He was saying what she had wished deep in her heart for him to feel. The desire for him had grown even without her realising.
“I had confided in my father to ask the Guptas for your hand in marriage”
“What?!” She felt a strange joy in the pit of her stomach.
“Yes Khushi. But he wanted me to wait because he felt your family would feel pressured. You know because of the new venture?......I had to convince myself to wait, and yet when you came that day all, looking all guilty…”
“You took the hotel projects away from the Khandelwals?”
“It was never theirs” he flashed her a sardonic smile.
“My brother-in-law, Shyam leaked the false news to the media. He knew dad hates to be known as someone unsure of his decision. So he thought if it was announced that Rocky had the contract, we would be forced to give him the contract!”
“Your sister knew?”
“Of course she did” bitterness clouding his voice.
“She values that crook of her husband more than dad”
“I am sorry Arnav “
“It’s fine Khushi. If Di wants to be with him, I am no one to interfere. She is an adult after all,”
“I guess” she sighed.
“Now there’s no reason to wait”
“To wait?”
Arnav stood up, his face set in tense lines.
He kneeled down, his hands holding a velvet box.
Khushi gasped.
He opened the box to reveal the most beautiful diamond encrusted in a gleaming gold band.
Her eyes filled with tears, as she raised a trembling hand to her lips.
“Khushi Gupta, wise men say only fools rush in, but I can’t help falling in love with you!”
She giggled, “Elvis Presley! Really?”
He smiled.
“You are an orphic mystique, Khushi. The moment I saw you, I felt…something beyond me. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you please do the honour of marrying me?”

Prompt: Sisterly love/bonding
The events take place 8 years after the end of my soon-to-be-written fic series "Tales of Seven Stars" (which is around 10 years after the events of season 3), but there won't be any information related directly to the plotline if this series, so you shouldn't be confused.
Hope you'll enjoy!!☆

Still not completely awake, Stormy got her hand out of the warm blanket and grabbed the buzzing phone.
“Yeah?” She picked up the call.
“You still in bed?” Darcy’s voice sounded. “I thought you had work today.”
“What?!” The witch of storms sat up and looked at the electric clock. 09.23.2017, Saturday, 09:45. “Oh shoot, I'm—hold on.” Saturday. “It’s not funny!”
“That’s what you think.” The witch of darkness snickered.
“Whatever. Why are you up so early?” Her sister yawned. “You’re usually sound asleep at this hour.”
“I promised Isa a visit to that amusement park the other day.” Darcy sighed. “And you know, kids can be... insistent.”
“Enjoy it while you can.” Stormy chuckled.
“Well, easy for you to say.” Her sister hissed. “Anyway, this is not what I called you for. Have you heard anything from Icy lately?”
“Last time it happened was the beginning of August. What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, it’s just... I called her several times yesterday and today, and she never picked up. She didn’t even receive the calls.”
“Maybe she just doesn’t want to talk. You know her.” Stormy shrugged.
“I know.” The witch of darkness replied slowly. “Still… I’ll visit her this evening. It’s probably just her stupid temper, but I want to make sure.”
“Good luck.” Her sister snorted. “And tell me how it went.”
“Fine, I’ll-” Darcy interrupted herself mid-sentence as an unclear, childish voice sounded. “Hold on, Isa, I’m on the phone... Someone can’t wait any second longer.” She explained to Stormy with a soft chuckle. “Fine, I’ll tell you. And now I’ve got to run.”
“Have fun.” The witch of storms hung up and lay down with an exhale. “And thanks for screwing up my plans for a long sleep.”
***
Icy lay on her bed, gazing at the ceiling. The witch of ice had no idea how much time she had spent in this position, as well as what time of the day it was; she never bothered to raise the curtains.
Icy felt weak and nauseous but didn’t pay much attention to that, always deep in her thoughts. They were the main reason why she rarely forced herself out of bed these days; reflecting on the events of her life was now everything she had.
Darcy and Stormy moved away from the house long ago. At first, the witch of storms had adopted some homeless orphan girl; then, after several months, the witch of darkness left as well; she was expecting from Dragon knows who. At least Darcy never told that to her sisters...
The three of them stayed in touch, but Icy never took any interest in her sisters’ new lives. Yet she knew that Darcy gave birth to her child—it should’ve been a girl. Right, a girl, the witch of darkness named her Isolde. Stormy worked in some sort of shop while trying to raise that orphan. The girl’s name was Poppy or something like that.
Icy sighed deeply, trying to hold tears—more of an old habit than a necessity since she remained all alone now.
Of course, the sisters visited her from time to time, but that was not the same with the time when they lived together. The time Icy missed as terribly as she missed Darcy and Stormy.
Her ears caught the sound of a key turning in the lock. The witch of ice sat up, but almost immediately regretted it; the room started spinning, and the nausea tightened the grip on her throat.
“Icy? Are you at home?” Darcy’s voice sounded from the ground floor.
“Yeah, I’m here…” Her sister replied with an unexpectedly cracking voice. “Wait a sec…” She got up, overcoming the weakness, walked out of the bedroom, and rushed to the stairs.
“Is everything okay?” The witch of darkness raised her head.
“Of course it is.” Icy went down the stairs. “I’m- Ah!” She stumbled over something and rolled down. “Ouch, ouch, ouch!”
“Dragons…” Darcy murmured as Icy landed on the floor. “Here, let me..." She stretched the hand towards her sister.
“No, I’ll manage.” Icy got on her feet, leaning on the banister before losing her balance once again.
“Careful!” The witch of darkness put the hand on her sister’s shoulder and gasped. “You’re feverish, Icy!”
“No, I’m…” The witch of ice objected. “I’m fine.”
“That explains a lot.” Darcy murmured. “How many days did you spend like this?”
“I…” Icy looked at her sister. “I’m not sure.” She confessed hesitantly.
Darcy cursed.
“You could’ve called.”
“I don’t know where my phone is.”
“You could’ve sent a message.”
“I…” The witch of ice turned her head away.
“Fine.” The witch of darkness picked her up and took off. “Let’s get you to bed first.”
“Put me down!” Her sister protested. “I can walk by myself!”
“You better not waste your strength now.” Darcy carried her to the bedroom. “Try to get some rest instead.” She put her sister in the bed and covered her with a blanket. “And I’ll call Stormy.”
“What for?”
“She’ll bring the medicine.” Darcy pulled out her phone and started searching for her sister’s number. “Why in the whole Universe didn’t you get the vaccine for this new virus?”
“A vaccine?”
“Yeah, they’re doing it for free in all the hospitals. Stormy and I got ours long ago.”
“I didn’t know something like this existed.”
“All the newspapers wrote about it... Fine, whatever.” The witch of darkness found Stormy’s contact and pressed on it. “Hey… So, you wanted to know how it went, right? Well, it turns out Icy’s sick, so get your lazy person here and bring the meds with you… I’ll send you a list in YuNa, dummy… The sooner the better… See you.” She hung up the call and turned to the witch of ice. “Do you want something? Food, maybe?”
“No.”
“Fine.” The witch of darkness sighed. “There should’ve been some remedies left in the kitchen; I’ll go look.”
Icy nodded, getting comfortable in the bed. Deep down, she was happy that Darcy had come.
***
"I don’t know when she caught it.” Darcy’s voice sounded. “But she spent at least a couple of days in this condition.”
“So, this is why she was unavailable.” Stormy supposed.
Icy opened her eyes. She must’ve drowsed while Darcy was looking for at least some treatment, with no result, since all drawers and the fridge were empty.
Now her sisters were standing near her bed and chatting in low voices.
“You’ll have to take some meds now, Icy.” The witch of darkness told her sister as soon as she noticed her raising the head.
“Long time no see, sis.” The witch of storms greeted.
“Hey.” The witch of ice replied, sitting up.
“Here.” Darcy stretched her the cup and some pills. “Take these.”
Icy nodded; there was no point in refusing.
One by one, she swallowed the pills, together with some herbal tea from the cup.
“So, how was the amusement park?” Stormy turned to the witch of darkness.
“Isa liked it.” The latter shrugged. "Me—not so much.”
“I can imagine.” The witch of storms giggled. “Good for me that Popps is all grown up now.”
“I know she’s grown up; no need to remind me.”
“So, you envy me, huh?”
“One more word and you’re getting a nightmare spell.” Darcy hissed, pulling out the phone. “But before that, I must tell Isa that I’m staying the night.”
“You’re leaving your toddler all alone?” Icy chuckled.
“She’s not a toddler anymore.” Darcy replied. “She’s seven in a few weeks.”
“Still a kid.” The witch of ice rolled her eyes.
“Well, they don’t grow up with the snap of the fingers.” The witch of darkness replied, scrolling the contact list. “Unfortunately…”
“Don’t you care too much about her anyway?”
“No, I don’t.” Darcy raised her gaze and looked directly into Icy’s eyes. “I don’t want her to be scared or worried about me.” She lowered her gaze once again and pressed on Isa’s contact. “Hey, Isa.” She greeted after a pause. “I’ll have to stay with Icy today... That’s right, you’re on your own till tomorrow morning... But still no TV... No, Isa. I can see when and for how long the television is working; don’t forget that... And no staying up past ten p.m. I’ll check that as well. Beside that, do whatever you want… The food is in the fridge... Yes, you can sleep with a nightlight... I love you, too...”
Looking at the witch of darkness talking to her daughter, Icy realised: her sisters changed. They became so much maturer and calmer. And, most of all, more independent.
They weren’t afraid of her anymore.
How could she miss this change?
How could she let it happen?
Before Icy could calm herself down, tears rolled down her pale cheeks.
“Icy, are you okay?” Stormy looked in her sister’s eyes.
It was enough for the witch of ice to break down crying.
Without saying a word, Darcy and Stormy embraced her.
“I...missed you…” Icy sobbed. "So... freaking... much...”
“We missed you, too.” Darcy petted her head.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t we?” Stormy nodded. “We spent the whole life together.”
“But you did leave me.” The witch of ice told them.
They broke an embrace.
“Icy…” The witch of darkness began. “This is not how it works. We love you, of course... Don’t you tell me it’s not obvious.” She added at the sight of Icy flinching. “But we’re allowed to love someone else as well.”
“And we left because we didn’t want you to suffer.” The witch of storms added. “As if we don’t know that you hate kids!” She snorted. “But we’re never against meeting with you or visiting you. On our days off, of course.
“I…” Icy wiped the tears off her eyes.
“You need to rest.” Darcy stated. “We can leave you alone, if you need.”
“No.” The witch of Ice shook her head before lying down. “Stay.”
***
“Take the pills one more time.” Darcy stretched the medicine to Icy.
It was late already, and the sisters were getting ready for bed. The witch of ice felt much better; she could even eat a little of the takeout food the witch of darkness had ordered.
Icy took the pills and swallowed them.
“I’m beat!” Stormy got in the bed.
“You had a day off today, didn’t you?” Darcy asked with a teasing smirk.
“A day off someone has ruined by calling me at 9 p.m.”
“I couldn’t resist the temptation.” Darcy giggled. “And I know you believed you were late at first.”
“For a second, that doesn’t count.”
“You, two idiots.” Icy chuckled.
At least something didn’t change.
“Hey, Icy.” Stormy turned to her.
“What?”
“You can move to my place when you get better. I mean, Popps is studying at Alfea now; she won’t mind.”
“I’ll think of it.” The witch of ice promised her. “So, she’s a fairy, huh?”
“She is.” Her sister admitted. “Poor thing, she has to see Griselda every day now.”
“Lights down.” Darcy snapped her fingers, lying down in the bed. “And Stormy, if you kick me at least one time, you’re sleeping on the floor.”

“No no nononONONO!”
Feeling his heart sink, Mikey pulled his fruity Danish pastries from the oven. The charred surfaces and burning smell of the treats brought tears to his eyes. Three hours of work down the drain…
The teen had been trying to make desserts for his brothers; they’d been really supportive during his recovery from the Kraang invasion, encouraging him and helping him wrap his arms. Even Donnie had put aside some extra time to shop for arm braces. They deserved it.
His arm had a flare-up during the baking, making him take a break to put a brace on. The timer had gone off without him in the room, his poor confections roasted beyond recognition. He sniffed, dumping the marred fruits of his labor into the trash. Maybe some music and drawing would help…
-
“Okay, family meeting.” Raph sat down with his two of his brothers, Donnie quickly correcting him. “Teeechnically, it's a partial family meeting. If we count the main seven family members and round the percentage, it's only about 42%-” He got a hand clamped over his mouth, the blue-themed turtle interjecting. “HUSH the nerd stuff! We know what we're here for, right?”
Donnie scoffed, but stopped spouting math. All three brothers knew what the problem was. Raph took charge again, attempting some order. “Mikey's been really down all day. Raph's worried about him.”
The purple clad turtle tapped his wristlet, frowning. He had been keeping track of Mikey's expressions from the past few days.“He seemed fine yesterday. Angelo’s face only drops around two today. I hadn't seen him for a few hours, my data’s a bit incomplete. I think he was in the kitchen.”
Leo blinked, seeming shocked. “Wow. Your number craziness finally paid off.” A claw extended from Donnie’s battle shell, whacking the snarky teen upside the head. Raph stepped between them before any more chaos could ensue.
“HEY! Donnie, do ya know what he was doin’ in there?” He huffed before answering, looking down. “I…do not. Dr. Delicate Touch made me promise not to install cameras; even I won't defy him.”
That was fair; none of them wanted to go against Dr. DT… Leo sighed, twirling his mask tails as he spoke. “I've tried asking, but no dice. The dude's clearly not okay, but he won't talk about it. Little hypocrite…”
The techy teen offered an idea. “We could try to interrogate him.” Leo snorted, snapping out of his little trance. “Interrogate? What is this, one of dad's movies? Besides, it'd probably only make him more upset.”
Raph bit his finger as he thought; one bad habit he'd tried and failed to drop. He got an idea, snapping his fingers and smiling. Bingo. “I got it! Listen up boys, here’s the plan…”
-
Mikey was sitting on his bed, moping and dragging a pencil across some cardboard. He wasn’t making anything; it was just a nice way to destress. Things weren’t working as well as they usually did, though… A knock at his train car door startled him, making the typically upbeat boy flinch and drop the pencil. “C-coming…”
The metal slid open, an obviously forced smile on his face. All three of them wanted to wrap him in a hug, but they had to follow the plan. “Hey guys…what is it?”
Leo stepped forward, looking his brother over. He took special notice of the arm braces. “Alright hermano, the jig is up. What’s wrong?”
The boy’s fake smile faltered a bit, though he tried to keep the act going. “J-jig? I dunno what you’re talking about, Leo. I’m good!” His artificial confidence got a bit stronger at the end. It was clear he wasn’t telling them without a fight.
Raph was next to get closer, trying to sneakily box the boy in. This time, however, a small smile was paired with the chasm.
A small squeak escaped the youngest as he backed up, recognizing the look on his brothers’ faces. They wouldn’t…would they? “C’mon Mike, this can go quickly if ya just hold still.” Oh. They would.
Feeling a slight giddiness rise in his chest, Mikey ran farther into his train car, diving for his escape hatch. Raph stopped him in his tracks, using his mystic tonfā power to catch him in a giant fist. Leo ran over, being careful of his brother’s arms as he tossed him into his hammock.
“GUys- guys wahait! Mikey squirmed and kicked, the hammock swinging as he thrashed. Leo flipped his sword, opening two portals to hold his brother’s arms safely. Didn’t want him getting hurt after all that recovery time.
“Nah, there’s no fun in waitin’. Raph’s out for giggles and the truth.” Wasting no time, Raph started poking at his brother’s armpits. A genuine smile formed on the younger’s face, giggles spilling from his lips. “Rahaphie! Nohohot thihis!”
“But this is the best! You get to giggle, and we get to hear it.” Leo smirked, not wanting to miss out on the fun. “Big man’s right, Miguel. The truth will set you free~!” He moved his hands to Mikey’s plastron, scratching and scribbling on the area where his stomach would be. “LeheheHEEOOOOO! C-chohOHOME OHOHOhohon!”
“Just tell the truth, Micheal. You know there’s no simple way out of this predicament.” Donnie took in the sight of them; his co-conspirators smirking, enjoying the sound of their brother’s laughter, and Mikey, laughing and sounding happier than he had all day. He supposed it was worth breaking a few of his rules for the occasion. He pressed a button on his bo, the feather he used against Shredder popping out.
“D-dehehee? Whahat ahare youHU- NYAAAHAHAHO!” Mikey squealed as he felt the soft fibers of the feather run behind his knees. Curse him for taking off the knee pads… The armpit pokes, the tummy scritches, the feather on his knees; it was all too tickly. It was nice to be able to laugh with his brothers, though he didn’t know how much longer he could take all of them at once.
Raph chuckled, smiling warmly as his brother laughed. Those goofs were gonna be the death of him…but he loved them more than he could ever express. If it takes some playful tickles to get one of his bros to open up, then so be it. “All ya gotta do is fess up, Mikey. What’s been goin’ on today?”
He still didn’t seem like he was giving up, though it was clear he was reaching a breaking point. Donnie, ever the over-achiever, wanted to speed things up. He sent a claw from his battle shell to his brother’s knees, having it squeeze and scribble along the underside. That did him in.
“K-GAHAHAHA! DOHOHONIEHEHE! *snrk* NAHAHAH!” Raph gave the purple-clad turtle a look, sighing. “The goal is to get the truth, Donnie, not kill him.” Dee just chuckled, continuing the metallic tickles.
Kicking and thrashing like crazy, the teen finally reached his limit. “OHOHOKAHAHAY! IHI- *snrk* IHI’ll TEHEHELL!”
And just like that, it all stopped.
Donnie begrudgingly retracted his tools, a small smile still on his face as he watched his little bro giggle. Leo followed suit, though Raph’s hand moved to the underside of the boy’s chin. He gently wiggled his fingers into the soft skin, chuckling as his little bro melted into the touch. His loud and bubbly laughter died down to soft, breathy giggles.
“Spill it, little man~” Raph practically purred as he said it, his tone softening with the next phrase. “We promise not to judge.”
Mikey whined through his giggles, but didn’t squirm. Leo had long since released his arms; he just hadn’t noticed. “Uh-uhuhum…I wahanted to make youhuhu guhuys some d-dahanishehes for helpihing me throuhugh recovery.” He looked down, still not pulling away from the loving tickles. He’d never say it out loud, but he loved them.
“Ihi uhm… Ihihi kinda buhuhurned them. H-hahad a flare-up whehen they went ihin the ohohoven…” All three brothers’ expressions softened, even Donnie’s. The thought was incredibly sweet, and it wasn’t his fault his arms still hurt sometimes.
“Mikey…listen. We love ya. Even if you weren’t an awesome baker, we’d still take care of ya.” He continued to gently scritch under his chin, though the big guy limited it to one finger. Donnie jumped in, not making eye contact. “It’s not your fault you still get pains. Based on typical recovery times, you’re actually making exponential progress. Occasional aches are to be expected.”
“If you ever need anything, we’re all here for you. I could help with the baking and stuff, if you want.” Leo’s offer made his heart soar, as well as his other brothers’ kind words. Heartfelt moments like those would forever be cherished, especially that one.
He felt a few tears spring to his eyes, arms reaching for his bros’ hands. “Youhu guys are the behehest…” Raph stopped tickling, enveloping them all in a hug. Donnie whined, but he relaxed into the embrace. Mikey sighed, his heart full and the sadness from earlier in the day completely gone. He loved his brothers so freaking much…

Missed Calls
(Content: living weapon whumpee, dehumanization, kinda dubious caretakers???)
=================
“No,” Iza said, “Yeah, I know. No, yeah. Yeah. Okay. No. No. I know.”
She pressed the phone tightly to her ear, her other hand pressed tightly to her forehead as she leaned over the kitchen table. She got up periodically to walk out on the porch if she really had to say her piece, but for the most part she just had to listen. She went minutes at a time without getting a single word in.
The memo had taken about seven hours to circulate. It’d come in the dead of night, otherwise it probably would’ve received more attention. But by the time Iza had woken up, her phone was already buzzing, and she had a soft ringing in her ears like someone was talking about her. By noon, the phone was ringing nonstop. All of their phones were.
Kitty had stayed up all night. Now, she was crashed out on the couch, all curled up in a ball. Iza shook her gently.
“They want you to send everything. The chatlogs, the archives, everything. What you showed me,” she mouthed, still on the phone. Kitty yawned. She pulled out her laptop from beneath the couch, lazily hitting a few buttons. She’d been expecting this. Apollo told her to prepare their case in advance. It’d all felt very urgent at the time; now she just felt tired. She fell back asleep right after. It wasn’t for long.
“He wants to talk to us,” Apollo said, a weary determination in his voice. Kitty blinked her eyes open, sitting up quickly. Her tail flicked behind her.
“I can’t believe it got to Levon already,” Willow sat on the counter, staring out into space. The horror had not left her face since yesterday. Apollo gave her a thumbs up. He could believe it just fine.
They went into the upstairs bedroom for privacy. Iza passed them the phone in the corridor. They sat cross legged on the bed as the dial-up sounded.
LEVON has entered a voice call with APOLLO.
LEVON: Hello?
APOLLO: Hey its Apollo. Kitty is here too she just woke up.
LEVON: Good morning, Kitty.
KITTY: good morning :3c
LEVON: Explain yourselves.
APOLLO: I want to say first that technically we had permission.
LEVON: Is that right?
APOLLO: We outlined that we were going to do a strike on the Centennial Ball and simultaneously run a rescue extraction and that is what we did.
LEVON: Very cute. The situation changes a bit when that rescue is of a million mega-joule atom bomb, living or otherwise. Do you disagree?
APOLLO: No. I know its a different situation.
LEVON: Kitty, do you disagree?
KITTY: no
LEVON: So we understand each other?
KITTY: ya
LEVON: I really don’t appreciate this kind of slickness when people’s lives are at stake. Lying by omission is still lying.
LEVON: And to level with you I think it's kind of despicable that you are trying to pass this off as a rescue mission! It's a very transparent power grab and I am really not amused by it.
KITTY: levon
KITTY: thats not true
KITTY: we had plans to break him out well before we knew abt the psychic thing
KITTY: and actually we didnt even know we just suspected!! we didnt have confirmation until yesterday literally it was just a hunch
LEVON: That’s not what Iza said. Iza said you presented it to her as a weapons acquisition.
KITTY: thats because we were appealing to iza!!!!
LEVON: And now you’re appealing to me?
KITTY: yes!!!!
APOLLO: Can I interject? I don’t think thats fair. We briefed Iza on everything we knew for sure and everything that we suspected. The weapon thing only stood out to her because thats how her brain works. We told her we didnt have confirmation.
LEVON: She felt confident enough to bring dampers, which I’m sure you’re glad to have now.
APOLLO: It was better safe than sorry.
LEVON: Of course it was. Look, I’m reading over the logs right now. Tell me this. Why did you promise him amnesty?
KITTY: …becuz ur gonna give it to him right?
LEVON: Who said anything about that?
APOLLO: Captain?
LEVON: What?
KITTY: ur not gonna give it to him????
LEVON: I’m not saying that. I’m just saying you shouldn’t have promised it.
LEVON: Frankly I don’t think that technology should even exist. Amnesty was not my first instinct.
APOLLO: Okay. I know we messed up. We should’ve told you. But you don’t need to take it out on him.
LEVON: I’m not taking anything out on anyone. That’s not what this is about. I’m telling you the reality of situation. Just knowing the scale of destruction that he’s capable of, I can’t guarantee his safety.
KITTY: levon we’re sorry :(
LEVON: Stop that. Why are you apologizing to me? You should apologize to him.
KITTY: okiiiiii :(
APOLLO: We will. We know we overstepped. But it’s done now. We’re going to work with you from here and maybe we can figure it out together??
LEVON: For the life of me I can’t understand why you didn’t just come to me with this in the first place.
KITTY: cause it was easier to ask forgiveness than permission :?
LEVON: Is it really? Is this situation any better for either of us? Better for him?
APOLLO: No, she has a point. Would you really have signed off on this if we asked you first?
LEVON: Probably not. Not the way you did it, anyway. I don’t like that you sent your poor brother in there alone.
APOLLO: Lun’s fine. I know the plan wasnt perfect but its the best we could do on short notice.
APOLLO: If you saw the kid now, you’d understand. He’s not in good shape.
LEVON: I believe you. I’ve yet to hear anything positive about the treatment of psychics in Empire.
APOLLO: Are we clear to bring him back then?
LEVON: Put Iza back on. We’ll talk about it.
APOLLO: Okay. Thank you Captain.
KITTY: thank u!!
Call with APOLLO has ended.

I have to know, is there anything in the works for Astronomical Odds? It’s by far one of my favourite docs I’ve read and I can’t wait to hear more about Starstuff and Little Star. I figured it was easier to reach out through tumblr than on AO3 ❤️
Hi, thank you for asking about Astronomical Odds (AO3)! I am very flattered to hear that it's one of your favorite fics ever and that you're looking forward to an update. And I always welcome readers reaching out, be it throuhg Tumblr or throuhg AO3!
I have the next chapter in the works; life was one giant hassle July-August, and I have only this month been feeling like my creative energy is recharging at least a little! But the chapter is in progress and I'm hoping to get it out before the end of the month, although due to offline life, I can't make a firm promise on that. But it always warms my heart to hear that someone is interested in the continuation of a story, so thank you for reaching out.
Here is a small sneak peek from Chapter 28 (aka the next one). Spoilers to Astronomical Odds if you aren't caught up.
Warnings: Implied sexual content, mention of brain aneurysm, mention of bad behavior from press.
Tumblr media
You couldn’t recall when was the last time you had felt so recharged. It was certainly possible that it was simply the fact that the first trimester of your pregnancy was starting to pass — at least considering the accelerated time line of yours — and you’d read that many had gotten relief to their worst symptoms when it did.
Or, it could be the absolutely great good night’s rest you’d gotten in the giant hotel suite bed, with Steve’s arms wrapped around you, after having drifted off into sleep feeling entirely loved and thoroughly satisfied. You’d slept for the almost twelve hours, and when you had finally woken up, Steve had already been awake, reading right next to you. He had put his book away and smiled at you, and suggested ordering a giant breakfast from the room service — unless you wanted to head down to breakfast, which was still being served. You’d chosen remaining in bed, being close to Steve, and not having to put on clothes. Or more clothes than his blue button down you’d slept in, that was.
Stuffed with a delicious continental breakfast, you dropped your cake fork down on the tray on the bed and leaned back against Steve, who had sat back down next to you once he had fetched the tray from the door. Conveniently, since you had stolen his shirt, his upper body was bare, and you could press yourself against his chiseled, warm chest and drop your head back so that it rested against his left shoulder. It left the right side of your neck open for him, too, and he seized the opportunity to move aside the collar and kiss your neck. You hummed with pleasure, even as the touch was more soft than anything asking for more, and craned your neck up to look at him. Fuck, how had you gotten so lucky? His blue eyes sparkled down at you, and his blond hair was still ruffled by the pillows.
“I love you,” you murmured.
“I love you too,” he said. “Anything you’d like to do today?”
You set your tablet down on the bed, having skimmed most of the morning news during the breakfast, and Steve folded away the newspaper he had been reading. Before meeting him, you would’ve never guessed how lovely the simple task of reading next to each other and eating a meal, even if neither of you spoke, could be. “Will you get cabin fever if we just stay here? The room’s paid for seven days and after the day before yesterday, I really don’t feel like going out there,” you grimaced.
Even as Harriet’s press release had gotten some of the news outlets to focus on it, you were fairly certain some reporters were still camping outside the hotel. Steve’s eyes flashed with a protective darkness.
“Not at all,” he said. “I might go to the hotel gym at some point, though. Unless I feel like getting my exercise by throwing a few punches into well-deserved directions.”
He wasn’t serious, but the idea of him just absolutely decking the press members outside still made some age-old instinct inside you hum.
“I feel like it’d be rather impolite of us to cause Tony to have a brain aneurysm after he paid for the suite, dear,” you grinned, and Steve laughed.

Everything that hurt, always hurt more the second day.
I sat up in bed, pain wrapping around my middle like a boa constrictor, squeezing agony into my bones. It was four a.m. again, but now it was Monday; a workday.
I grabbed my phone and opened my company's intranet page, hastily navigating to the HR section of the site and putting in for a sick day, followed by an email to my boss and coworkers.
Good morning,
I am not feeling well and will not be in today. All incidents assigned to me are up-to-date with notes. In case of emergency, please text me.
Thank you,
[deadname]
I stared at my reflection in the dirty bathroom mirror. My teal hair looked like the aftermath of a fork stuck into an electrical outlet, and there were pale violet circles under my eyes. While they were genetic, they had become even more visible since my insomnia started. Lifting my shirt, I looked at my stomach, where a bruise like an arm of the Milky Way bloomed in shades of blue and purple, fading to yellowish green at the frayed border. I clattered three Excedrin into my palm and swallowed them dry.
My apartment didn't have a dining area, so I sat on my green-corduroy couch as I peeled an orange. Aside from the hum of the air conditioning unit, it was quiet.
What the hell happened yesterday?
Given the shape and location of the bruise, I felt pretty certain that I had, indeed, crashed my skateboard into the pier's guardrail.
"Oh, shit! My skateboard!" I remembered dismally. It was probably at the bottom of the ocean by now, waterlogged and unsalvageable. Unlike most other skaters I knew, who often had a quiver of five or six boards, I only had one; a drop-through longboard that wasn't too long, which meant it was perfect for my short stance. It was the first board I'd learned to ride, and I'd saved up for months to afford it. My heart sank as I remembered how much research I had done to find the perfect beginner skateboard, and the graphic I had so carefully selected -- a stylized depiction of a person surfing beneath a cloudy, pastel sunrise.
Sunrise. Clouds.
The rest of my memories from the previous day surged back.
"Avery!"
I nearly choked on an orange slice as I glimpsed the microwave's digital clock. It was five a.m. now.
"Sunset time Port Oleander," I googled frantically, the search engine responding with cruel indifference, "seven-thirty p.m."
My fingers counted the hours: fourteen and a half. I collapsed back into the couch as impatience like a cartoon anvil fell on me. How could I possibly wait that long?
Memories of the lighthouse assailed me as I slumped, stunlocked, on the couch; wet brick, old paper, bergamot, sea spray. An embarrassment of books. Sunlight glinting off bits of ice in Avery's swirling, translucent head. His huge, sincere, almost goofy smile. His laugh.
My stomach twisted with a swell of emotion so strong it was almost painful as I recalled the sensation of Avery's warm, boisterous laugh vibrating my ribcage. I wanted - no, I needed - to hear it again and again and again. My fingernails dug into the couch cushion as I fought to gather myself.
"This is just infatuation... right?"
I wasn't exactly a stranger to romance. I'd had partners here and there, but admittedly, the termination of my previous relationship over two years ago had left me unsure that falling in love was, well. For me.
The initial "spark" that seemed a crucial part of attraction for other people, for me, was apparently defunct; attraction did not happen often, and when it did, it was more a slow and methodical building of a home, less a match igniting an all-consuming fire. Love, intimacy and trust were all building bricks, predicated upon a wrought-iron foundation of knowing a person well, forming a bond as friends over time.
Physical intimacy, itself, was a whole 'nother ballgame. As a solitary person, most physical touch -- even mundane -- carried a weight of closeness that was not always comfortable or welcome, but was embarrassingly out of my control. I recalled my recent visit to the doctor, cringing a bit. Though I was loath to admit it, even brushing hands with the grocery store clerk as they handed me my change left a lingering sensation that I had to fight to ignore. I wasn't the type to hug a stranger; I wasn't the type to even hug my friends unless we'd spent significant time together. I certainly didn't think about ti...
My ears suddenly grew hot.
Was I already thinking about... that? With Avery?
Avery's hand holding mine over his kitchen table, his palm cool and soft, the mysterious and silent storm rushing beneath his skin. His gentle gaze that, despite his obvious years, held an innocent curiosity. His playful-yet-shy bravado as he introduced himself with a flourish of his hand, the way he so effortlessly scooped me off the ground. I wondered if his skin felt the same everywhere else... on his body, and on mine.
"Oh, no. We just met, we are NOT doing this," I argued, trying to appeal to my own sense of reason,"you're just gonna have to tough this out, Casper. Don't rush into things and scare him off, this is probably just a crush you're going to get over once you get to know him."
"But I've never even had a crush before, I don't know what to do!"
"Dude, just be regular! Just hang out with him like normal and see what he's like! I don't know, take him to the fair or something!"
"Is that a good way to get to know someone you're attracted to?!"
"I don't know, I'm you!"
I lowered my reeling head into my hands, suddenly regretting eating that orange as my stomach churned. Things were happening so fast. I looked at the clock again -- agonizingly, only an hour had passed.
A horrible thought occured to me, then:
What if Avery didn't feel the same?
"Don't go down that road," my internal monologue chided, "you have no idea how he feels. Don't spiral out of control."
"Why would he even be interested in me? I'm weird! I spend all my time by myself, I'm chubby, I barely have any talent, I don't even have any friends since I moved here! Not to mention how much trauma and baggage I have-"
"See, this is exactly what I'm talking about! Stop it! Everyone has baggage, even Avery probably does. You don't have to earn other people's love! You're good enough just for being who you are, and if he would only love you for what you can do for him, he wouldn't be loving you for the right reasons, anyway. Now get up and channel this nervous energy into something productive for god's sake, before you burn a hole in the couch."
I stood.
I cleaned up the coffee table.
I vacuumed my carpet. I washed every thread of clothing I owned, and my bedding. I did the dishes, cleaned every window and mirror and dusted every surface. Raiding the fridge and freezer, I threw out everything that was expired, then I alphabetized my spice cabinet. I mopped, scrubbed, wiped, and folded until my apartment looked like it was straight out of an IKEA catalogue.
Then I left, and ran every errand I had been putting off. I finally emptied my mailbox, bursting with junkmail (I was sure that our postal worker just loved me). I got my car inspected and put air in my tires. I went to the grocery store and restocked my fridge.
All the while, my mind reeled like a YouTube video set to loop:
Avery, Avery, Avery.
+++
By the time I was done, it was six forty-five p.m. I sat on the couch in my favorite pair of jeans and my coolest short-sleeve button-down: a navy blue number with tiny koi fish print. My hair was perfectly quaffed, and I radiated a shower-fresh clean. My apartment was silent, my palms sweating as my hands rested on my thighs. Despite all my arguing and resistance, I was the very definition of down bad.
My incessant thoughts piped up.
"You're trying too hard. You realize that Avery saw you yesterday, unconscious, in a ratty t-shirt and cargo shorts, nasty and sweaty from skateboarding, right? You probably looked like shit, and he probably thinks that's how you normally look. You probably smelled bad, too. He's gonna know."
"He's not gonna know. How would he know?"
A soft knock on my door interrupted my internal warfare and made me jump out of my skin.
I put my hand on the cold doorknob. My heart beat so furiously I could feel the fuzzy edge of my consciousness, and I silently bargained with my hypotension that if it just left me alone for now, just for tonight, I would pass out all it wanted tomorrow. I turned the knob and opened the door.
"Hi!"
It was my neighbor. I experienced an emotion that could only be described as crushing relief.
"I found this outside my door, I think it's yours, isn't it?"
She was holding my skateboard. It was wet, but it didn't look to be soaked through. I gasped, taking it from her.
"Yes! You said it was outside your door?"
"Yeah, I don't know how long it was there, though. Probably since this morning. This is the first time I've gotten out today, so..." she trailed off. We'd spoken in passing, but we didn't really know each other.
"Well, thank you, I lost it yesterday. I think my friend found it and probably just forgot which apartment was mine."
"Hey, no problem. Have a good one," she said, smiling politely as she left.
When she was out of sight, I hastily looked around. The sun was just beginning to sink below the horizon, and as I looked up, I could see hard chips of stars starting to appear. Over my shoulder, I checked the microwave clock again. It was seven o'clock on the dot. How much longer? What would I say when he arrived? What would I even do when he did? My hands grew cold as I realized that, in all of my stress-cleaning, I hadn't planned anything for Avery and I to do together. Maybe I still had time?
"Good evening," a familiar, airy voice spoke from mere inches in front of me.
I jumped again, head snapping forward as my suddenly weak hands dropped my skateboard, which rolled lazily across my small patio.
Avery stood before me in the dying light. He wasn't completely transparent yet, and the fading sunlight behind him illuminated the delicate curves of his head, giving new meaning to the phrase "silver lining." He was grinning like a child who'd just had ice cream for the first time.
My words caught in my throat.
"I'm glad you found your skateboard! I fished it out of the water after I took you home, but I couldn't remember which apartment you lived in -- sorry about that. I hope it isn't ruined."
Across the courtyard, a man opened his door and stepped out, snapping me out of my besotted daze. My fight-or-flight engaged.
"Get in here!" I whispered urgently, grabbing his shirt sleeve, eliciting a surprised yelp as I pulled him into my apartment. He was lighter than I expected, and as the door swung closed, I tumbled backwards onto the floor.
"My goodness, Casper, are you okay?" He offered a hand to help me up. I scarcely had time to brace myself before taking it, and had no choice but to endure the overwhelming thrill of sensation as his cool palm pressed against mine, pulling me to my feet. He was light, but his strength was undeniable; he practically pulled me off my feet by my hand.
"Oh, yeah, fine... ah... I saw someone... out there, across the yard, and I was afraid they would see you," I hastily explained, avoiding his eyes as I tried to calm my palpitations.
"Well, that was kind of you! Believe it or not, though, humans do see me sometimes. Usually you just assume I am something else, like fog, or simply a trick of the light. Come to think of it, though... I suppose, technically, I am both of those things..." He put his fingers to his lips contemplatively. It was only then that I noticed a few things about him that were different from last time -- he was wearing square-framed glasses, and he seemed... shorter? The first time I saw him, he practically towered over me; now, though, he was only about a head taller.
"Did you get shorter?" I asked rudely, wincing before the words had even left my mouth. Mercifully, he didn't seem to mind.
"Oh, yes! It's a scorcher today, isn't it? I evaporate when I get too hot, or if I go too long without water, similar to how you run out of energy when you don't eat."
I realized that I hadn't offered him a seat or anything to drink since I abruptly yanked him into my apartment. I sensed my father rolling in his grave.
"I'm so sorry, can I get you something to drink? I have plain water, but I also have flavored sparkling water, you know, like La Croix? They aren't sweet, but, they're kinda fruit flavored. The kind I have is strawberry. I also have hot tea? I don't have any soda or anything, I don't really drink soda or alcohol, I also have m-"
Avery put his large hand on my shoulder, offering a reassuring smile. I flushed immediately, becoming aware that I had spoken in such a rush that I'd forgotten to breathe. I inhaled greedily, unable to meet Avery's eyes as I gestured to my small couch for him to sit.
"Sparkling water sounds lovely. I've never had that before, but I love strawberries!" he said, taking a seat.
I cracked open a can for each of us, then took a seat on a cushion across the coffee table from Avery. My couch was so small -- really more of a loveseat -- and I was afraid it was too soon to sit so close to him.
As Avery took a sip of the fizzy drink, his eyes lit up, like they did when he laughed. The liquid entered his mouth, and I watched the bubbles swirl like a hurricane just below the surface of his clear skin, before disappearing into the cloudy translucency of his body. Almost imperceptibly, such that I might not have noticed if I wasn't watching, he grew a bit taller.
"Hehe, that kinda tickles," he said, giggling, "it's not much of a flavor, is it? More like an idea of strawberries. Nonetheless, I like it! It reminds me of the flavor of tea."
"Oh, god. Oh, no."
My mind spun like a top flying off a ripcord. I felt my blush rise cartoonishly from my neck all the way to my hairline, like mercury in a glass thermometer being thrown through time, straight from winter into summer. Had I been a cartoon, I was sure that steam would be whistling out of my burning ears.
"The way that word sounds on his lips... oh, god, this is more than I can bear," I thought, watching him read the back of the La Croix can, his head tilted upward as he peered through his bifocals. There was no denying anything anymore; no bargaining, no holds barred. I was helplessly, hopelessly, powerlessly smitten. I had no choice but to admit it, now: all I could do was double-down.
"Hey Avery?"
"Yes?" He smiled again, and I realized with dizzying elation that he always smiled when he looked at me.
"Have you ever been to the fair?"
