I read this fic recently

and this was my reaction:

I WAS GOING FERAL WHILE READING THIS, LITERALLY PACING AROUND THE ROOM AND STUFF WHEN I SKIMMED THROUGH THE LINES AT FIRST 😭😭

I realize this is because of certain things.

1.) I am absolutely in awe with the characters-react-to-themselves-or-their-show concept. TMI but it's one of the things I daydream about while pacing around my room. SO YOU CAN IMAGINE MY EXCITEMENT WHEN I SAW SOMETHING LIKE THIS 😭😭

O.MY.GLOB. It was my first time reading something with this concept on a03 (granted, I have not been around much) but STILL!

when I saw the format, it was SO understandable. LIKE.

the way lines/scenes are quoted in bold and then how the characters' reactions are on a separate space. LIKE. YESSSSS. I UNDERSTAND WHAT'S HAPPENING, AND WHAT THEY'RE REACTING TO, ETC.

OMYGOSH. ATE.

honestly because of my own inclinations to this concept and how I have my own fanfictions playing in my head of a similar but ofc different nature,

I AM NOT KIDDING WHEN I SAY I PACED AROUND MY ROOM FOR A GOOD 2 OR MORE MINUTES AS I WAS READING IT

2.) The use of words and diction is so straight-forward/concise, understandable and good (like as in the figurative language). I love the way the characters' reactions are described, and the explanations behind them. I especially like Dazai's reactions. I like the way he's described and how he's on the edge of his seat while watching.

3.) THE CHARACTERS. AND. their understanding of Akutagawa.

4.) This fic is so unashamedly, unapologetically, amazingly, self-indulgent.

I. FUCKING. LOVE. IT.

I could tell the author was enjoying herself while writing this. This was a work that the author made to enjoy.

I LIKE SELF-INDULGENT FICS cause you can let loose and literally go wild with anything without worrying too much about technicalities.

Like Mary. whose Mary?

She appears out of nowhere and lets the Agency watch the events of BEAST and it doesn't take long before they're all sat down together as though they're watching in a cinema. I think straight-forwardness is one of the writing's strength. like YESSS. GET STRAIGHT TO THE GOOD STUFF.

5.) The characters are canon compliant (mostly)

I LOVE IT WHEN the characters act like themselves! When their actions are things I can envision their canon counterparts doing.

ITS JUST SO..UGH. *chef's kiss* 🤌🤌✨

despite there being a few characters/moments that I've had gripes with, the internal conflict within and the reactions in general made it so enjoyable for me.

Just to name a few, Dazai, Kyouka, Kunikida, and Ranpo in particular stood out to me.

I like the part where Fukuzawa yells, "That's enough!" while 2 characters are arguing and they instantly stop. I think that is SO real. like. that's something that would DEF happen in canon. no one can change my mind. also that small gesture where Ranpo takes out his lollipop. love it.

By the time I finished reading AND even as I was reading, I was already anticipating the reactions to certain scenes. How will Atsushi react when he sees himself? How will he react to that fucking cafe scene with Akutagawa? How will Dazai react when he sees Oda break his heart in BEAST?

as I retype this right now (because tumblr is a jerk and deleted my initial draft) even more ideas come to mind. What will yosano, fukuzawa, and everyone else say when they see Mori being a 'good' guy? When they see what Dazai is capable of?

I have been EXTREMELY SHY about my writing on Tumblr which is fucking hysterical considering the fact that I regularly write 1000k++ word POSTS on roleplay boards, and my writing goblin is like bitch, enough with the Impostor Syndrome and just DO IT so Im doin it!

Mirage was initially slated to die, but though the concerted efforts of my BFF Crow (who loved them both and always wrote the best hypothetical dialogue for them) he got saved from the frying pan and he's got a full-on happy ending with Hound and moves to the Shetland Isles post-war. Dunno if kids are in the picture! But animals sure are eueb

Note: I will try my best to do a live commentary/first reaction kind of thing so this post will be updated as the day goes by. I really hope they have fixed the streaming problems they had last time with the Spring Shark Festival. It worked fine once they got it working but it took quite a while to get there. They don’t have that luxury today since there is an on-site audience, it’s pretty much impossible to delay the performance should any streaming issues arise. On a side note, I am keeping my expectations low as far as the audio-quality is concerned but we will see, maybe it’s good. Without further ado, let’s get to it!

Live Commentary

Okay, it’s about to start, there are some weird noises in my headphones but it’s manageable. Otherwise, it works totally fine! I think they fixed the weird noise issue for the evening performance. Haven’t heard it yet. Video/stream-quality is perfect for me (no freeze so far), they have a few different angles which I appreciate. A bit of shaky-cam here and there but nothing too bad. I feel like they improved quite a bit on the camera work for the evening performance. Sound is also surprisingly good.

Setlist

Happy Hello Day: The atmosphere is already so nice, everyone is clapping enthusiastically. I love it! The arrangement with piano and guitar is perfect for this song. Poor Wakana forgot the lyrics though so they had to start again. Awww, so precious, I wanna cuddle her already! Loved the “lalala” at the end! No mistakes for her night performance. Everything went smoothly. I feel like the atmosphere is a bit more toned down compared to the day performance.

瑠璃色の空 / Ruriiro no Sora (DAY): Okay, I have never really liked this song but this acoustic version is actually pretty nice. I may have actually become a fan! :P Thank you Wakana, for this beautiful rendition. Hard Rain (NIGHT): YESSSSS! So much win! While I didn’t mind this version of Ruriiro no Sora, I MUCH prefer Hard Rain.

ひらりひらり / Hirari Hirari: Not my favourite of the “magic moment” album but I really enjoy listening to the live version like this.

442: OMG, I am already blown away! This IS SO GOOD!!!! The live version (especially with this acoustic arrangement) is a REVELATION, everyone needs to listen to it! I am so glad we are also getting this on the Blu-ray this summer!

Talk Corner: Awww, once again Wakana embarrasses herself by introducing her host Bunta Nagamatsu with the wrong name. Seeing her this flustered is super cute but on the other hand, I feel sorry for her T_T They are answering some of the simple/casual questions that fan club members were able to submit in advance. It was interesting to find out that she stretches for quite a long of them a few hours before a live and that she carries pretty much all of her belongings in her bag on a performance day XD Will be summarising them properly once we get the archived version. They are using different questions for the evening performance! YAY! At the end they are demonstrating their kendama skills but Wakana fails to catch the ball the first two times but then on the third try, SUCCESS! She is so happy! At the evening performance she looked like she pulled a muscle doing the trick but yay, she managed to catch the ball on her first try

海を見ていた午後 / Umi wo miteita gogo: Yuming-cover chosen for Takebe-san due to a connection. They picked this song because it features places in Yokohama (today’s live is taking place in Yokohama). Too short but very nice. Not a particularly big fan of the voice she uses for the song though.

アイノカタチ / Ai no Katachi: Misia-cover chosen for Ishinari-san due to a connection. His guitar playing is actually featured in the original recording of the song. Wakana also sang this in one of her fan club videos (where she did her nails). Wahhhh, I am in love!! Such a beautiful cover! This hit me right in the feels, even more so the second time around! *bursts into tears*

I have a dream: Kalafina-cover chosen for Wakana due to a connection. *sobs* Ahhhhhh, this is beautiful. I have no words. Not all Kalafina songs work as a solo song but this one certainly does. Wakana nailed it!! That Kajiura-go part!! Btw, random question for everyone who has been watching the stream, where is that drum/percussion-like sound coming from? It’s noticable in almost all songs but it’s obviously not coming from the piano or guitar. Just curious since I am not an expert on that kind of stuff so I wouldn’t know what tools they have to create this sort of sound without an actual drum set or whatever. Thanks to @sa-nyan for replying, it is INDEED Ishinari using some sort of pedal.

翼 / Tsubasa: Oh wow, already digging the acoustic arrangement. Can I just say how much I appreciate it that Wakana has two super talented and passionate musicians on her side. She deserves to be accompanied by the best. This is one of Wakana’s oldest solo songs so you can tell she is very sure of herself, no hesitation whatsoever, just powerful vocals. Perfection!

恋はいつも / Koi wa Itsumo: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! You all know this is one of my faves so I couldn’t be happier!! Wakana showing the audience how to clap :P SO CUTE! I can’t clap in rhythm for the life of me so I am kinda glad I am not there to embarrass myself :P Too bad the audience was able to sing along this time (probably because of COVID regulations). A little lyric slip-up at the beginnging but Wakana dealt with it professionally.

ENCORE: 金木犀 / Kinmokusei: Ohhhhhhh! And another one of my all-time faves!! Such a good setlist!! As always, beautiful!

ENCORE: あとひとつ / Ato hitotsu: Wakana explains the reason why this hasn’t been released on CD yet. She wants it to be a special experience that is reserved for live performances. She feels this exclusivity is nice. The PERFECT ending just like every other time she sings it.

DAY: Wakana is wearing a lovely salmon/orange/pink (?) coloured toga/tunic-sort of dress. She looks so pretty! It’s off-shoulder (always the best look for her!) and there is a white skirt layered underneath. There is also some binding around her waist. her hair is in an elaborate up-do. NIGHT: She changed into a lovely wide blue gown which goes well with the evening flair. Her hair is in a cute high ponytail. She is wearing her clear chain earrings again.

During the first MC of the day performance Wakana is already getting carried away talking about this and that so Takebe-san has to remind her they are on a tight schedule. XD At the end of the live Wakana announced an online release event for her Blu-ray. It’s gonna take place on August 21. The after-talk is now available. They filmed it after the evening performances answering a few more fan questions.

In the countryside of the South Downs, nestled near Devil’s Dyke, there’s a tiny, strange little cottage.

From far away, sensitive humans might get the feeling something is alive and dreaming inside, even when it’s the middle of the night and all the lights are off and nobody has been seen there for a month or more.

These are subtle miracles keeping the place safe. It’s a sanctuary for a pair of supernatural beings who’ve developed an affinity for the Earth, including the occasional countryside retreat from the hustle and bustle of central London.

And on this particular afternoon, muted sunlight streams to the interior of the sitting room through sheer curtains. The angel, clad in his favorite cardigan, is reading a book on one end of the sofa, while the demon naps, sprawled out, an arm flung haphazardly across the angel’s lap.

Crowley

Crowley isn’t deep asleep, just taking the time to doze and enjoy the moment. He’s surfacing to consciousness, stretching as he luxuriates in the comfort of the cushions and the company, when he feels a hand on his shoulder.

“You know, I think I’m in the mood,” Aziraphale murmurs, “for a taste of you.”

Crowley yawns. “Been reading dirty books again, have you?” He smirks as he lifts his head. This is a teasing little game they play ever since the first time he caught Aziraphale reading the humans’ smut.

“Hmm, yes, but not this one in particular.” Aziraphale puts his book aside and leans over for a kiss. “The one I finished earlier. I have been waiting for you to wake up,” he adds, brows arched suggestively.

“Well then,” Crowley purrs in his most devilish voice, “far be it from me to stand between you and your cravings.” He pauses before asking, “Bedroom?” and gets that knowing smile in response, Aziraphale’s eyes all alight with something between raw joy and mischief, a blue as soft as petals and deep as dusk.

“Bedroom,” Aziraphale agrees.

Crowley drags Aziraphale on top of him as he tips onto their mattress. He receives a soft full-body embrace with tantalizing friction, plus a drawn-out French kiss, which eventually becomes a trail of smaller kisses and licks down his neck.

Aziraphale helps Crowley out of his shirt and trousers, starting with the buttons - not necessary, but part of the ritual, and yet another excuse for them to grope each other through their clothes. They get hard in the middle of this task and spend rather more time than intended touching each other flirtatiously before they finally finish removing their outfits.

Crowley is grateful for the buildup, the seduction, the anticipation of the pleasure he knows will be coming next. Aziraphale neatly folds their clothes onto the dresser and presses their naked bodies together as he returns to bed, starting all over with another deep kiss on Crowley’s lips.

As always, he takes his time working his way down, eventually pressing kisses into the seldom-touched flesh on both sides where Crowley’s legs meet his body. He licks and sucks the tender skin with a relish Crowley isn’t sure he deserves. As if he can hear this thought, Aziraphale reaches up to caress the corner of Crowley’s hipbone.

“Hngh.” Crowley grins, soft, too embarrassingly enamored to use his words right now. He laces the fingers of both his hands in the flaxen curls of Aziraphale’s hair.

“So lovely, my dear,” Aziraphale whispers. He tilts his head forward to be better touched without taking away his mouth, for which Crowley is very grateful. Aziraphale licks and kisses Crowley’s bollocks with delicate regard, supports them with the warmth of his hand so he can suck at the base of his cock. As anticipation beads on Crowley, he musses Aziraphale’s short locks, gently, and smiles through a sigh.

With one more squeeze, Aziraphale moves his hand from Crowley’s hip in order to hold his cock up and lavish him with broad, wide tongue-strokes. He grabs the sheets in one hand and lets his fingers clutch at Aziraphale’s hair with the other, biting his lip. And at last, he sighs from deep within, an “Ah, yesssss” hissing past his lips as the miracle of the human orgasm carries him to bliss. I got my hands on Brent Weeks' The Burning White, the last in his Lightbringer series. So excited! It's almost a 1000 pages long which means more time for me in that world.

Also, I only wanted one thing from this book and I peeked at the end and (spoiler behind the read more)

YESSSSS! He did not kill Gavin/Dazen. I was deathly afraid that after making him suffer non-stop for two books (going from that world's version of Emperor to color-blind, not able to draft (i.e., do any magic) galley slave who has one eye burned out, gets imprisoned in a horrible place and tortured and further maimed and then basically has his will taken away even more than with a normal slave, he was going to kill my favorite character. Honestly, all I was hoping was for him to have an OK day and to reunite with Karis before he dies but eeeeeeee! He survives! And he and Karis are together and get married again!!! And he is still the Promachos and has abilities and he gets his freaking eye and hand back and thank you thank you thank you Brent Weeks, now I can read in peace.

But seriously, you have no idea - Gavin/Dazen (and eeeee, he calls himself Dazen by the end and is free to do so) is in my Top 6 fantasy novel loves, with Kaladin from the Stormlight Archive, Logan from Weeks’ Night Angel Trilogy, Asho from Phil Tucker’s Black Gate Series, Tavi from Jim Butcher’s Codex Alera and Imriel from Jacqueline Carey’s Imriel’s Trilogy. OK, I just realized four out of six of them have been enslaved and one of the two who hasn’t was thrown with forgotten criminals into a cannibal bit for a long time. Ummmm...now I am worried what it says about me. Also, both Asho and Kaladin are basically fantasy Spartacus and the other four some sort of royalty. No, I have no idea what that means.

...it makes sense that sento isn’t torn up about being fictional like sougo is. he’s already been there – twice, even. sento kiryuu was made up in his own world, and no one from the new one remembers he exists. this is nothing new to him.

And Ataru can’t have a brother that went missing if the brother never went missing in the first place. Which is where Tid, the Imajin, and Another Den-O come into play.

Sure, The World of Ataru is ‘reality’ from one perspective, but The World of Riders is reality from it’s own perspective, just like The World of Build. Sento, you’ve done this, don’t dismiss the world you live in now as fiction quite so easily.

(Tsukasa will be disappointed in you. … if everyone else doesn’t beat him up first, for some of the stunts he’s pulled.)

So… since the Double watch came from Ataru’s world, it can act as a link to there from the Rider’s world.

Actually, I really like how much of W they’re working into here. I know it means we most likely don’t get a W arc, but still. Fuumen, and the watch being handed over by proxy – namedropping ‘Sho’. Another W has three faces – Cyclone, Joker, and CycloneJoker. Cyclone’s eyes light up when he uses the tornado attacks, which is a great nod to both how he’s using one side, and to how Philip’s half lights up when he speaks. I mean, the green tornados alone are neat!

(I didn’t think I’d missed the lens-eyes, because they’re creepy, but come to find out, I had! Huh!)

THING IS. I’m a LITTLE pissed about THIS. I get you haven’t been given much to do today, Woz. And I ADORE all of the W references. But the Library is PHILIPS domain. It’s his to explore – his, and Wakana’s, and those who he allows in. Sokichi Narumi, when he was just a tool for Museum, when he got a chance at freedom. When he got to be Philip. And Shotaro. His Partner. Who saved him from himself in there – When the library was BURNING because he was losing himself to Fang, when he was terrified and lost and this is where he is supposed to be.

The book is labeled Masked Rider Den-O. Not Kamen Rider. The series has been writing it as ‘Kamen’ when using the roman alphabet since W.

Before that, it was translated into English whenever it was written like that. So it would be accurate to have Masked Rider Den-O, but not, say, Masked Rider Fourze.

That’s terrifying, but makes sense. The watches only need the power of the rider, after all. Doesn’t matter which version of the Rider, as we’ll see in Hibiki months down the road and two weeks ago.

Hahaha! Another Double explodes three times. Once to separate in two, once each for a cloud of green and black smoke for each respective half, and then two massive fireballs. That’s glorious.

We get a montage of two brothers, growing up together, as fans of Kamen Rider. Mirroring a montage of one boy growing up alone at the opening.

And the speech between Senior and Junior – Sento and Sougo.

Yeah. They were Riders. They always were Riders. The laws of time travel aren’t nearly as rigid as you think, Sougo.

As long as someone remembers. They’re still there.

Why should anything have to change that?

Final notes. Whoever made this movie must love W SO MUCH. Because in the end credits, there’s a montage of shots from every season since Kuuga. It shows the riders themselves, as civilians, their base forms, and their final forms.

The slide for W has two variants. The first has CycloneJokerExtreme at the top, CycloneJoker at the bottom, and Shotaro and Philip preparing to transform in the center. The second – the center photo moves to a different expression from the same exact scene – the same SHOT – Shotaro and Philip looking at each other and smiling. It’s from episode 49. When they were reunited.

There’s some nice care for all of the slides, actually, but most noticeable to me…

The Fourze slide has four pictures –  Fourze base mode, Gentaro in front of an explosion, Fourze Cosmic States, and Gentaro and Ryusei. The last three? Are all from the same episode. The one where Gentaro GETS Cosmic States.

Drive has two ‘variants’ as well – in a similar manner to W, actually. The first time, there’s Chase, Shinnosuke, and Gou together, Shinnosuke and Kiriko – from the last episode, no less, as they’re saying goodbye to Krim, and Drive (Type Speed) leaning against the Tridoron. Really puts that “Let’s go, Mr. Belt” line RIGHT BACK IN THE FEELS ZONE, there doesn’t it? Well, the shot of the three riders morphs to the same scene, but all three of them in their armor. Ghost manages to have all three of it’s Riders on a cliff – in civilian form, but still.

Ex-Aid has Emu’s first transformation – both before he activates it, and in his Level One form right after. There’s the first transformation into Hyper Muteki. But his Base Mode shot, for Level Two? Chronos about to get a Gashacon Breaker to the face.

Gaim features both Kouta AND Kaito in all but one shot, which is the one with Gaim on a horse. The others are Kouta and Kaito in Beat Rider attire, Gaim and Baron while the Woman of the Beginning looks on in the background and… Gaim Kiwami Arms versus Overlord Baron… in the final moment of their last fight.

As for OOO? Well, we’re clearly not getting an answer from Toei as to what his official final form is any time soon. Not with Shirtless Episode One Eiji, and TaToBa OOO on a RideVendor as two of the shots. The other two? One is PuToTyra. And the other is TaJaDor… with Ankh right beside him, Greeed arm on display. (Eiji’s final form is Ankh’s Boyfriend and you can’t stop me from believing that.)

I don’t know enough about the other seasons to know how heartbreaking a lot of them are, but. Well.

Over in Kuuga, that’s a transformation in the snow.

Ryuki has a wide shot with thirteen suits.

Blade as a shot with four riders, and one with Blade and Chalice in the water.

I’m not really happy with their choices for Build. Build RabbitTank deciding that he’s going to take Ryuuga with him, Sento and Ryuuga on the bike – at the end of episode one, so they both look awful, Sento in the opening, of all things, and what is quite frankly a terrible shot of Build Genius. They had a lot more to go off of here.

Especially since at least Zi-O has an excuse for poor selection. A close up of Zi-O’s face, a shot of him on his bike on a bridge from the opening, a slightly battered Sougo transforming – not even his FIRST one, mind you, it’s from the wrong angle for that… and OMA ZI-O. I know we weren’t even fifteen episodes in, he didn’t have Decade yet in the timeframe it takes place, but still. STILL.

But I might do a compilation post of all the ending cards, because there was clearly care put into… well, all but the last two, really.

So! In Conclusion!

Not as bad a movie as I was worried about!

There were a lot of nice touches, and I’m pretty sure that at this point, they were working towards un-doing the whole ‘riders were never riders’ situation. Especially given the time placement of this film.

The present day sections take place on December 3, 2018 – literally one day after the first episode of the Ghost arc aired. It was released on December 22, so… about when Sougo was shot into the future by Decade, and the day before he Did The Thing with his belt.

Ghost was allowed to transform. “Oh, right… I’m a Kamen Rider…” And, of course, Decade was there. As Decade.

The next Legend Rider to appear wasn’t until February – with Ryuki, who would never have been a Rider in the first place, regardless of Time Travel interference. He’d already had his adventures undone at the end of his season. After then, every Legend Rider is still a Rider.

As long as someone remembers.

Archive 81 is what im watching rn and it seems like the same thing, very creepy, psychological type horror

I haven't watched many gory movies THANKFULLY but one that has scarred me is raw, such a disgusting movie and i didn't even watch most of it (yes, i was covering my eyes the whole time what about it😤). And one of my friends was like "oh i love it, might rewatch it some time" ....yeah i have a garment that ties your hands in the back for you bestie😍 so yeah i hadn't heard of these movies (i think?) but now i'll know to avoid them, thank you<33 oh you are so kind! but it's ok i don't mind jumpscares so dw!! I haven't watched that many reality shows! but i did watch our bachelor this year bc my grandma did and it became kind of a way to go more often to see her (oh and i also made fun of it w my brother too so i enjoyed it in a more ironic way tbh!) Idk if it's just the greek one that's so bad or that's how it is in general but yeah😭 And from cooking shows i sometimes watch our master chef bc the judges are hilarious and it's more lighthearted than others out there. UGH EXACTLY!!! THANK YOU!!!!! I don't act like i'm a hair expert bc i'm not AT ALL but i have found a way of styling my hair that actually makes me like my curls (as opposed to when i was younger and damaged it all the time and didn't use mousse etc..) but they were taught this stuff right??? It's not some rare hair type- ＞﹏＜ I would prefer her to tell me she can't do much and i'd just tell her to simply blowdry it so i don't go out w damp hair🤷🏻‍♀️
