I've been playing ffxv (my first time -- my previous fandom experience was based on watching it on youtube 😅) and today I got to the bust-a-base part with Ravus and everything. I feel like playing it myself is just reminding me of everything I love about it but even more so? Like goddamn Noct those single strike warp-kills were sexy af, and gosh I love his voice (props to the voice actor for striking a great balance of soft and confident), and he's so ridiculous sometimes?? I just handed over some green beans and everyone is giving him shit about refusing to eat vegetables and I love it.

On the other hand, playing directly is also reminding me of the things I'd rather pretend aren't things in fanfic land though, like how Ignis and Prompto are really weird-looking. I swear every photo of them I get they just look very strange, which is such a stark contrast to how good Noctis always looks. Gladio looks pretty good too so I'm not sure why Ignis and Prompto look so strange.

Anyway I gotta figure out how to possibly extract the photos I took into something shareable so I can post some here bc I got a really great one of Noct today. I've been playing on my steam deck but I think I can open it up on my laptop via steam too?

Side story, the other day after dinner my kid was playing and I walked in because it was almost my turn, and she was like, "Mommy, do you like Noctis?" and I had to restrain myself from asking, "Do you mean like or do you mean LIKE like?" 😂 But I just said yes and then asked her if she liked him, which she didn't answer. Still not sure if that question was her trying to figure out if she liked Noctis or Squall better, or her telling me she wasn't sure if she likes Noct, or possibly that some video game characters here might be becoming her first real crushes, but I guess I may never know and tbh it's her own business. (This morning she was mad at her sister because "she was teasing me and saying I was in love with Captain Jack Sparrow" so I think we're solidly in the puberty era now 🥲)

I LIKE FFXV A LOT

LIKE!!! yes sure i can see it was VERY rushed and the fact that they took away versus XIII from nomura’s hands REALLY annoys me tbh (even if i do believe he’s going to shove it in future kingdom hearts games so hehehoho heck yea) and yes up until chapter 9 the plot literally makes little to no sense but consider:

1) i love open world games and lucis is really nice. it’s not peak fantasy maybe but i dig the modern fantasy vibe theyre going for 2) i LOVE hunting sidemissions and THESE WERE MADE FOR ME 3) i L O V E fishing minigames. i dont know. i just like them a lot and it took me 10 minutes to pull up that fucking giant fish at the swamps in their little morning routine it was nice 4) when the plot finally starts making sense,,,, i actually like it a lot. it’s so sad and dramatic and M A N the feefees that literally EVERYTHING that happened in tenebrae gave me really hurt me. 5) I REALLY LIKE THE DUNGEONS!!!!!!! like yea i can bitch about costlemark tower for an HOUR (which is. 1/3 of the time it took me to finally get to the boss :^)) but they were cool and scary and i like it

...........and im sorry but the characters REALLY sold me this game tbh. i really like noctis and luna, i REALLY like gladion and ignis, prompto is my SON and ardyn somehow managed to be one of my favorite final fantasy villains and

idk. i spent 64 hours running around in lucis even before getting to altissa i know it’s far from being a perfect game but i really like it and ngl it’s one of the final fantasy games i always tell people to start with to see if they could be into the series,, playing it made me feel like i was playing the very first game with the open world take and the simple story during the first few chapters!!! ;u;

//Hello :) I adore Nagato! You should definitely go for it!! And no problem~ I’m honored that you asked. I haven’t been super active rping myself (on here bc I’ve been rather distracted rping as Noct from FFXV <3 and doing a bunch offline too).

In all honesty, rping isn’t all that difficult. The main thing to keep in mind is that, whether you plan to stay IC or diverge as some prefer, always have faith in your writing. I learned so much from rping with other people and I’ve gained so many friends over the years. But the most important thing is you’re here to have fun.

Now to the basics ;) When I started my blog, I was lost as all hell, but managed with some help. I started off as a question/answer blog and then added threads in. Posting something in Nagato’s tag introducing yourself as a new rper is a good way to let other people know you exist. You can also create open starters that anyone can jump in on and go from there. Those types of threads are great bc they’re small and you get the hang of writing with others real quick. When it comes to themes and all that, don’t stress. A simple looking blog is just as cool as the intricate ones. I clearly didn’t go all out on mine XD Oh and don’t be afraid to ask others to rp! The worst they can say is no. Besides there’s so many others that’d say yes~ Also if someone asks you to rp with them, it’s okay to decline. Never feel bad about it. Sometimes people want to write something you’re not comfortable with or maybe you just don’t want to (and that’s fine).

Also really important! Read the rules and guidelines of anyone you’d wish to write with/interact with. It’s respectful to the other person that you took the time to go through their blog to make sure all is well. Some people are particular with who they write with or what they write (as in plot or ships). It’s also a good idea to have your own rules in mind and create a page for it.

Another thing, if someone doesn’t reply after a certain amount of time, don’t be afraid to ask them about the thread. Sometimes Tumblr’s notifications don’t work as advertised. Or maybe they forgot.

Respect the other rper’s character. Be aware of who they write. Bc I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come across people who disregard Sasuke’s power level and or try to underestimate him or get offended by his occasional attitude problem. It can get frustrating when other’s disregard facts. Just bringing it to their attention is an easy fix though.

I don’t know how much you know when it comes to terms so here’s a few: Mun - The person behind the blog (you :D) Muse - The character you’re portraying Thread - The back and forth interaction between two individuals writing together God-modding - When you take over another person’s character without consent and control what they do (it happens more than you realize and no one is ever happy about it) Headcanon - Elements and interpretations of a fictional universe accepted by an individual fan, but not found within or supported by the official canon (they’re just fun to have ;) Starter - The first part of the thread (basically the opener). They can be small or in paragraph form Drabble - Essentially a mini story or ramble of writing. I often get drabble requests that others are interested in seeing my write. Could be certain scenarios or interactions with other characters Memes - They can include sentence starters or even questions for you to answer. You can limit how many you respond to by indicating whether you’re accepting more or not. Reblogging them invites other rpers to send you something or an opportunity to interact.

And if you get sent hate, don’t let that derail you. I’ve had plenty sent to me and although it can get upsetting or annoying, it’s best to ignore. Sometimes people can be rude for no reason. Stick to the positives. Immerse yourself in what you love. Not everyone has the same opinion. Some just like to be more vocal about it. Never be afraid to rp how you interpret the character or what you want to write. Rping isn’t a chore. If you can’t find your muse, there’s no problem taking a break when it’s required. Life takes precedence.

havent written much recently so im gonna talk about/summarize some of my wips because i can (this ended up as all FFXV based ones oops)

-Mermaid AU: mostly pulling from the little mermaid and various mermay fics ive read. noctis and regis are at cape caem on vacation and while playing on the shore, noctis falls into the water and is saved by mermaid!lunafreya. the two eventually keep meeting up and talking. some specific things to bond over include magic and being prince/princess. soon after, the two do some kind of spell that turns lunafreya human. noctis helps her back up to the house from the shore, but its difficult going for the two of them since a) luna doesn’t know how to use her legs yet (and for parts like this, i was thinking of incorporating og little mermaid stuff, like every step hurting) and b) helping luna aggrevates noctis’s old injury (as something i was trying to keep in line with canon).

dont really have more than this, but a possible second half of this would go like this: regis wakes up in the morning and when going to wake noctis up, also finds an unknown girl in noctis’s room. he tries to figure out who she is and whats shes doing here from noctis, but only gets the full answer from luna later. would mostly be regis trying to figure out what he’s supposed to do when he finds out she’s a mermaid princess (with magic!) who’s effectively just run away from home

-Fateswap AU: Noctis is the oracle and luna is the chosen king. main focus on noctis, ignis, and prompto. main “story” i have is noctis and ignis are plotting to escape their niflheim guards, of which prompto is one. the two put their plan into motion: noctis pretends to be sick, prompto goes to help/check out whats happening, and ignis disarms him. its right at that moment that prompto decides yes, he really does want to defect and can he go with them pretty please? ignis thinks its a bad idea, but noctis does agree. thats where i initially ended my outline, but i can see expanding it to include some roadtrip stuff, but its harder to find a solid stopping point after that

-Insomnia: started this one with “somnus couldn’t sleep” purely bc i find the irony amusing and i have fun writing hooks. then i had to work backwards with why he wasn’t able to sleep and it turned into one of my standard introspection oneshots. ends up more as a reflection on being in someone’s shadow/being expected to be like/just as good as an older sibling and deciding to do your own thing despite expectations/comparing yourself to others. this one partially arose because i was on an ardyn & somnus kick as seen in my next wip

-Somnus gets the ring: this one is a mix of gap-to-fill type of fanfic and wanting to do something with the high messengers (theres 24 messengers, but we only see a few of them. soo... [insert free real estate meme here]). I had fun coming up with a High Messenger OC for this, who i mostly based as being an opposite of gentiana in appearance and is dressed a bit like a roman soldier. i also sort of incorporate my HC that the gods/bahamut/messengers very rarely interact with the line of lucis and don’t tell them much when they do. this would be dialogue heavy which is where im getting stuck.

my current outline for the story goes like this: somnus realizes he’s in a dream and in front of him is the crystal and a soldier. somnus quickly realizes the man’s not human, but something divine. the messenger delivers what he’s supposed to say from bahamut and theres a bit of back and forth as somnus tries to pry more info out of him. somnus eventually accepts (almost a vow-ish type thing) and wakes up with the gem of the ring in his hand.

-regis, noctis, and the crystal: takes place when noctis is really little, before regis finds out he’s the chosen king. main thrust would be its cute, and a bonding moment as regis teaches noctis about the responsibility that comes with their (literal) god given powers. events would be: noctis has been slipping out of his room to sleep on the throne room steps (which i HC the throne room to be right above the crystal). regis takes this as a good opportunity to teach noctis about the crystal, their magic, and the duties the gods gave to them as the world waits for the chosen king. they go to see the crystal and noctis finds himself both drawn in and frightened by the crystal and the magic (his magic).

5. Dumbass One + Dumbass two

OH GOD, absolutely Dante as Dumbass #1 and im Dumbass #2. Just call us dumb and dumber 🙈 We're the types of dumbasses that are like... one is unapologetically dumb of shit and the other is oblivious to their own dumbassery

7. Feral Gremlin + Calm Academic

Breakin out the old f/os bc all my newer ones are unhinged, smart or theyre 'stopping telling me i have responsibilities i have big boobs'. Ignis and myself play the composed individual and shitbrained partner (on a leash edition). My s/i for ffxv is whack since it was never set in stone, but theyre like... "bout to catch the shower demon, slippin" bc theyre like ten thousand years old and paranoid, ignis is like thank you, very cool.

9. Ball of Anger + Softie

Man. The closest thing to this is Slick and Ivory. Ivory pretends they're a bitch but they're sensitive or something and kind of does nothing but loiter and help out whem they can. They have big NPC energy + I make them a housespouse 90% of the time so they're absolutely a softie. Yes, yes - Slick is more than an angery little man but hes also An Angry Little Man. Has Resting Bastard Face. They're the Cartoon Couple just, Donald and Daisy tease.

11. Snarky Power Couple

Maybe b!Spy and b!Chef ngl. The main reason r!chef and r!spy dont get along is bc Chef's way too blunt and unrelenting on others (including himself and the man HATES being called out so, even if he found them entertaining and cunning, he hated when that energy was directed towards him), but on the flipside that's the main reason Blu Spy n Blu Chef are together? B!Spy said "Chef is a bitch and I love them". Yes, they are constantly judging you. Yes, they are speaking in only culinary terms. And what of it.

17. Has Exactly Three Braincells Between Them

All my ships, man wym. Probably Marvus and Hannya. All they know is mcdonalds, charge they palmhusk, twerk, be biseuxal, eat finger sandos, and lie. Marvus knows like, 2 things which is 'How To Rap and Be Sexy While Doing It' and 'How Time Works'. Hannya is just oddly woke but hates knowing things so they bash their head into the nearest surface bc they would like to escape responsibilities, making their headspace devoid of any remaining braincells.

i hit 235 pages the other night!!! this is the longest thing I’ve ever written. I thought my 100 page FFXV H2O AU would take the cake for a while there with 100 pages, but nope. Borderlands.

but i’ve been playing thru the cartels event while i’ve got time and thinking about the different stones for different magics because obviously these eridium snorting badasses (the sirens, not the cartel) gotta have parallels right?

so obviously eridium is for sirens (and possibly anointed?? im still a little lost on them)

i was thinking for psychics they could have those red eridian crystals that are shown around nekrotefeyo (explaining why Troy has 2 hanging around his neck all the time) and also why his psychic powers are stronger than anyone else in the AU. 

but idk if they have a name other than Eridian Crystal, you know?? should I come up with a name??? because im really bad at that.

also you know how jack’s mind control collar turned lilith’s tattoos that pinkish red?

haha, yeah. maybe it was a mix of eridium purple/red eridian crystals. dunno where jack would’ve got his grubby little hands on eridian crystals, but if they were all the fuck over Nekro powering stuff up, maybe he was able to find ‘em somewhere in an Eridian ruin on Pandora powering, like, a giant fuckoff elevator.

obviously merfolk and werebeasts have the moonstone from TPS (because COME ONNN)

i also like the idea that, well you know how on pandora originally the Vault colorings were these blue-ish white color? I like to imagine that Elpis (moonstone) played a part in stasis-ing the vaults and keeping them from turning the more Eridium/purple color (indicating that they are charging/opening). so elpis/moonstone was actually keeping the Vaults from opening before the 200 year charge period (and obviously sirens can charge vault keys as a catalyst w/ eridium so the fact that the Vaults turn eridium purple, since eridium is so closely linked to sirens, makes sense)

im not sure about fae tho. I want zer0 to have something cool :( I guess they could share with psychics (especially since Zer0′s whole thing is r e d) but I kinda want them to have something unique. like merfolk/werebeasts have that connection to the moon, the transformations, but idk about fae/psychics. it doesn’t sit right with me. 

oooo ooooohhhhhh i know, there’s one more I haven’t thought of. the green. yes. we know it’s canon and not just the bloody harvest event bc of guns love and tentacles. and the wisps/spirits we see in that DLC remind me a lot of will o’ the wisps that fae can be associated with. so sure. say there’s a green... crystal somewhere out there. that, plus its associated with the portals we see often in these events. plus as a dullahan, at least for zer0, that would make a lotta sense given they’re often associated with death. idk about the other fae tho 🤔 i would very much like to see an elaboration on dark maliwan and their research bc obviously there was something going on there. but alas. i have to do everything my damn self.

Earthbound and Chrono Trigger. yes BOTH. i played both during very bad depression. I would finish the game, give a lil cry and restart it often times that same day. this continued for years. I kind of only played those two games. oddly enough i STILL can’t remember shit about certain parts (Where DOES one go after Tyran again????? How on earth do you navigate Deep Darkness? You’re supposed to do what WHAT with that robot?? Mother Brain WHOOOO??? Which one of Lavos’s spawns do you kill again????????????)

Chie from Persona 4 (DONT @ME!!!!!), the knight guy from FFIX, everyone from Until Dawn. There’s probably more but thats all i can think of atm.

RPGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! my first one was....i think one of the earlier FFs. Either 3 or 4? Anyways for a long time i couldn’t play it bc the random battles really scared me! like, the idea that i could be walking and get into battle just really frightened me....tho open world games come in second and rhythm games in third! 

7) Video Game character you’ve had a crush on?

this is a loaded fucking question. Uh. if the character is a moody swordsperson or archer of any type or thief i have had a crush on them. my biggest crush is probably Link...The fact that he is essentially a blank slate makes giving him any characteristics i wants very easy. I am quite partial to Aro/Ace Link who likes to explore his sexuality. But is still very Aro/Ace (ye this is me just projecting FIGHT ME!)

anime expo was soooooooooo much and it was so hot and overwhelming (and yes, crowded) but i had so much fun! under the cut because i sure do talk a lot

i knew ax was big but WHOA OK its on a whole nother level!! i dont think i even saw the entirety of the convention center and i didnt even step into the jw! wow ok! i was really worried about it being overwhelming and everyone being too busy to.. be friendly i guess but that wasnt really a problem!! everyone was really friendly, especially at the meets!! the ff meet was on the hottest day of the weekend and it was overcrowded and difficult to get things organized but everyone was still friendly and talkative and looking out for each other in that wild heat!! SHOUT OUT TO THE ZACK FAIR PHOTOBOMBING THE SHOOT BY DOING SQUATS IN THAT HEAT!! you really are a hero, zack fair. you really are.

speaking of the heat, idk how i survived in noctis all day in.. 106 or something degree weather but i loveloveLOVED being him!! it was worth the suffering!!!! one of my favorite costumes ive done so far i think and i got so many super nice comments from people on it and waah! also got arrested by the thot patrol and shoved into the ballpit by ardyn and ik ive already posted pics but that was fun. i didnt take nearly enough shitty meme pictures honestly. smh. I DIDNT GET A PICTURE OF ME GETTING FRIENDZONED BY LUNAFREYA which happened. noctis did a heart hand luna thumbs up’d. rip noctis. 

cosplaying kingdom hearts is always a really fun time and im kinda glad i didnt finish riku in time bc kairi was a godsend of a costume. so comfortable. bless. and i just love being her!! im glad i brought my pins back to give out, everyone had the CUTEST reactions!! a sora also tossed me a little paopu fruit as he walked by which was really sweet and its soft and adorable!! 

it was also the first time i wore bakura which was uhhhh and experience and that costume didnt make it home in one piece lol i really didnt feel great in it but i still had some fun!! littlekuriboh complimented it lol so like, my inner 10 year old can die happy! 

i think the thing that really made this con was the people!! rooming with sharon, janice and emma was like, the best, chillest hotel room and i hadnt seen any of them in EONS i miss u guys come back to cali soon!!!! and meeting angel and aj was really nice and i had a lot of fun hanging out with them and also going to dennys at midnight in cosplay. andrew and jesse are local friends so i see them a lot but it was still fun hanging out with them at the con! they braved the outdoors to meet up with me at the ff shoot. brave souls. 

i met a lot of real cool new people too, and people id seen once or twice before at cons and got to spend more time with and everyone was just! really nice!! and fun to talk to!! hopefully the people i met felt the same about me and i didnt annoy anyone or talk anyones ear off.. too much cause i sure do that my apologies if i was the biggest pest in the universe!!! 

ALSO SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN ARTIST ALLEY LOL.. someone was selling ffxv omanjuus so i got a prompto and a noctis!! omanjuus are my absolutest favoritest kind of merch ever. im so happy. actually i mostly just bought xv merch for myself... OOPS i got some cute sorikai tho!!! i got more stickers for my travel sketchbook :3 

AND!!!!! AND I GOT TO PLAY KH3 DEMO!!!! the lines were capped for most of the weekend... except for when i walked by and one of the booth employees went “PSST HEY GUYS, WANNA PLAY KINGDOM HEARTS 3?” hells yeah. uh, i know some people dont wanna see details about kh3 until they actually play it and idk if anyones actually READING this but im gonna talk about the demo so like.. leave now if u dont wanna see any of that

the gameplay!! was so good!! it was so FAST and smooth and intuitive! but it was creative and cool and you can switch keyblades in combat and the attraction attacks are SO CUTE! theres something so emotionally satisfying about killing things with the tea cups. you could play olympus and/or toy story world if you had time to do both in the 15 minutes you got (i finished toy story and almost finished olympus!) the toy story world was so cute!! TOY SORA IS THE MOST ADORABLE and fighting in the mechs was actually really fun!! the cutscenes were included for toy story but there were 7 minutes of cutscene so i skipped it rip. there’s nothing new that hasnt been seen in trailers and stuff yet but it was super fun to actually play it!! it’s a lot like bbs/ddd gameplay but a lot better and idk, im not an expert in gamedev but it just felt like combat had a good.. flow to it and its a million lightyears away from the clunky gameplay of kh1!!!! ITS COME SO FAR!! IM PROUD! and also it just feels like its a REAL CONCRETE thing thats actually happening now that ive actually gotten a chance to play it for real. kh3 isnt fake yall. wow. wow. 

ANYWAY. THAT WAS A LOT OF TALKING AND I FEEL LIKE THERES A HUNDRED MORE THINGS I WANNA SAY it was a good weekend. im very tired. im so sad its over. idk when my next con is but im hoping mayyybe ala???? maybe????????? we’ll see! other than that uhhh i really just have disneyland planned so... i guess its time to actually finish riku for the halloween party.

Oh, man. SWTOR and Dragon Age for sure.

Star Wars Battlefront II (the original one aka probably my favorite game of all time i literally still remember the cheats on ps2 lol)

hmmm I would love another Portal game. Not necessarily a sequel since I’m not really sure where that would go, but another game in the Portal franschise would be excellent.

Dragon Age: Origins, for sure. Or KotOR 1 and 2!

GLaDOS was a fun boss.  the boss battles may have not been super memorable, but as a boss thru the games she was good.  Also Ardyn in ffxv. He was just not your typical boss and I had no idea what to expect from him which I liked.

playstation 2.  we had an atari but never used it.

i mostly use pc, but i also have an xbone bc my laptop is...in bad shape and probably should definitely not be used for gaming anymore but does that stop me?? no absolutely not.

10. a ship that is similar to your relationship goals: Levihan tbh. They didn’t need some monumental life changing event to find each other they just showed up in each other’s lives. Levi (begrudgingly) let Hange into his heart and they wouldn’t think twice about dying for each other. Also Levi keeps Hange grounded while Hange keeps him afloat and alive!! They’re just so healthy and safe and perfect and it’s all I want in life.
