lol might get hate for this but in my opinion in terms of the ranking the SuperBat pairings….

1.) Damijon/Jondami- Yes I’m completely bias but I never felt this strong for such a pairing (regardless either platonic/romantic! ) Such an iconic (chaotic) duo! I’m glad the dynamic of Damian and Jon worked out well and is well loved!

2.) Superbat-I mean they are the OGs and I can get why fans love their dynamic and pair them! I’m more bromance for them but I do look forward to their interactions whenever the two appear together!

3.) Timkon-I’m neutral for them. I like the fanarts if I see them but otherwise I think they seem more aesthetically good together than like actually together. Hey at least Tim has Bernard now and personally Kon deserves better.

Jon + Damian have squashed potential. Their friendship would have done both their characters so much good. Eventually, as they grew Jon would have felt like he’d have to chase after Damian and keep up and Damian would seek and find in Jon when it comes to anything he can’t obtain as a hero.

Out of all the popular ships, this one is particularly rare.

Imagine a world where Jon and Damian did engage in a romantic relationship in later years. I think it would be great queer rep to show two people who knew each other as friends - grappling with the same heroic pressures and coming to terms with the fact that they might not want to be just friends anymore (a common queer experience) I also think that in stories where they are do become Batman and Superman, it’d feel very refreshing to see DC have the courage to portray an iteration of their most popular characters like that.

These characters are both fairly new and not so much engraved into the audience. They both know each other and share chemistry so there wouldn’t be a lot of room for complaint.

Superbat is meh to me. Over the years, It has done a lot regarding DC fandom, it’s a ship that’s become iconic and is popular amongst passive fans which could become quite annoying.

Superbat is realistically, never going to happen. Respectfully, I doubt DC would do anything in all seriousness when it comes to anything romantic between these two.

Especially with the obvious things like how Batman is and how Clark has a wife and kids.

Although, no ship is shipped under the ideation of becoming canon so I give this pair its flowers because honestly, it could be nice in domestic situations or maybe a workplace relationship but I don’t see it being endgame or like anything happening at all in a likable way.

Timkon, I’m very, very bias about how much I dislike Timkon. Most Timkon shippers realistically do not read comics and I know this because I was one at first for a short amount of time and realized how deluded and far off from the truth Timkon actually is.

It’s crazy to me because fandom is so intense about this ship and all for it to be… alright?

A lot of Timkon stuff is boiled down to being one-sided on Tim’s part. It really irks me that Timkon's evidence is like Tim trying to clone Conner while knowing that he has a thing about not being cloned because he’s a clone himself which irks me.

Then him dating his ex-girlfriend is a HUGE red flag to me, especially when their relationship was semi-abusive and built on grief but good thing it didn’t last.

Also, Tim and Conner are NOT as close as people pretend they are. Conner doesn’t know much about Tim beyond him being Robin, they don’t hang out outside of being heroes.

In reality, Conner doesn’t know much about Tim at all and he’s much closer with his other teammates - literally any other YJ teammate other than Tim. Conner's established friendship with Tim caused a lot of really horrible character assassinations on Bart, Cassie, and Conner. It pushed all characters aside in an attempt to emphasize their relationship.

If they were to have a relationship then people acknowledge its toxicity - see toxicity doesn’t take away from shipability but frankly, I think both these characters deserve to be happy.

If they did date, I seriously give them half a year before they break up. I’m happy Tim is with Bernard because he seems much happier than he’s ever been. I’m sorry, reading those comics it felt like Tim was just grieving his friend after having lost a family member and he was spiraling and needing help, that’s not ‘cute’ to me.

Anyway, I notice Timkon shippers use Kon more as an accessory to Tim and melt his character down for that. If they read his comics then they’d know that he is canonically attracted to Bart anyway (I say canonically because of the on-the-nose insinuation which I take as gospel because it’s crazy for a writer to just outright mention Conner might be attracted to Bart.) Which Bart is most of the reason Conner is queer coded like he is now anyway.

Anyway, not saying all Timkon shippers are horrible but I don’t like the shippers or the ship. It’s substanceless for me. If you like it I’m very happy for you. I think all of these ships are iconic and adorable. This is just me being a person with an opinion.

Anyway, my thoughts.

“Don’t lie to me,” Damian says harshly, his eyes cold like stones. Jon bristles. widening his stance and wanting to put of his fists.

They’re fighting again. Jon honestly doesn’t know when all of these arugments started - maybe a month ago, when Damian was hit with a piece of rubble? Or maybe a week ago, when Jon was hit by a spell. EIther way, they’ve both been more on edge than usual…

“I’m not!” Jon protests.

Damian waves a hand at the screen. “You seriously think that Shrek 2 is a good movie?”

…about stupid stuff.

“Yes,” Jon says stubbornly. “I do. I like that we got to know Fiona’s family and see that not everything is fairy tale perfect for them.”

Damian makes a garbled noise, looking ready to punch him in the face. Instead, he hits him with a pillow from the couch. “Go. Just go. I can’t believe I married you.”

“I can’t believe this subject never came up before,” Jon retorts, shoving himself to his feet. “Want to go to bed?”

“Fuck yes.”

Alright so I was rewatching The Little Mermaid (2023), as one does, and I started thinking about DamiJon/JonDami, as one also does. We’ve all seen beautiful art of different supersons AUs, and there are a few mermaid ones. And I started to think about making my own, and I was excited to draw Mermaid!Jon until I realized it completely depended on whether I wanted to do a Mermaid Au or a The Little Mermaid AU. And yes, those are two completely different things.

In my opinion, in a Mermaid AU with it’s own original plot, Jon would be the mermaid and Damian would be the human. But, in a DamiJon/JonDami retelling of The Little Mermaid, Damian would be the mermaid. Why? First of all, the amount of siblings Ariel has is easily comparable to Damian’s. Secondly, Triton constantly expresses his distaste for humans, and I think it’d be pretty fitting for Bruce considering his no meta-humans rule. If Bruce were in Triton’s position, he would 100% have a no humans rule. Especially if you want to head canon that his parents were murdered by humans. Similar to how Triton’s wife was murdered by humans, causing his dislike. Next, for some reason Jon being a hopeless romantic seems fitting ngl. Lastly, the idea of Damian having a collection of human artifacts. Like hello?? That is adorable. And yes, there is definitely a big difference of personality between Ariel and Damian, but I think that would just make things more fun.

Anyways, while writing this I decided I’ll probably make a drawing of a Mermaid AU with Jon and Damian, but write the The Little Mermaid AU if I’m feeling up to it

The door opens with a violent swing, and Alfred looks up only to blink at the tall man all dressed in white who strides towards him immediately afterwards.

“Master Damian?”, he calls out, surprise in his voice. “Not that I don’t appreciate your company, but should you not be somewhere else right now? On an altar, maybe?”

“I should, yes”, Damian admits with a frown, then he sighs and promptly plops down on the floor next to his grandfather’s wheelchair. The old butler smiles.

“Ah, is this a case of what they call cold feet then?”, he teases.

Damian only acknowledges the sarcasm with a huff and leans down to rests his head on Alfred’s leg.

“My feet are adequately warm, Alfred”, he retorts. “And no, I’m not having second thoughts on my marriage, only on the guests list.”

“Is your mother here?”, Alfred asks after a moment of consideration, running his fingers through the kid’s hair - because despite how old and tall he got, that’s how Alfred will always consider him, how he will always consider all of them, for that matter.

“Yes”, Damian sighs. “But Jason’s dealing with her - whatever his idea of dealing with her means, I really don’t want to know - so she’s not the problem right now.”

“Who is it, then?”

“Grayson, of course!”, Damian cries out, throwing his hands in the air. “I knew it was a bad idea to invite him. He was born only to embarrass me.”

“Or you were born only to be embarrassed by him”, Alfred offers with a smile. “Nevertheless, getting married without your best man would be a tricky affair, so I don’t see how you could not invite him.”

“In retrospect, I should have really planned it better”, Damian sighs, rubbing his forehead against Alfred’s knee. “And it’s all your fault anyway, for convincing me to do this thing here at the manor. I wanted to elope, as you may remember.”

Alfred graciously accepts the accusations and pats the kid’s head one more time, while looking up again at the new silhouette standing in the doorframe.

Tim smiles at him before clearing his throat and addressing Damian with a mocking stern tone.

“C’mon, Mr. Kent, time to face the embarrassing shower of family feelings like a man.”

Damian groans at him without even raising his head.

“I’m not going to take Jon’s name, you know that.”

“Yes”, Tim answers, walking towards them. “But it’s still funny.”

Damian scoffs.

“Not as funny as when I proposed for Jon to take the Al Ghul name at the rehearsal dinner.”

Tim laughs, Alfred gives his nephew a reprimand look.

“You didn’t.”

Damian glances up at him and downright pouts.

“I don’t see why I have to be the only one who has to suffer through this misery.”

“I’m so going to tell Jon that you called your wedding a misery”, Tim taunts him, then lightly taps him on his shoulder. “Now let’s go rip the band-aid off, Mr. Kent.”

Damian sighs dramatically and stands up.

“Did Dick stop crying at least?”

“Not a chance”, Tim grins devilishly at him. “Actually, I’m pretty sure Bruce’s started tearing up too.”

Damian straight out refuses to believe him.

Bruce is not crying. Technically.

He stands as fiercely and imposing as ever while he rests his hands on his son’s shoulders, but he’s fooling no one, especially not Damian, who looks up at him (he doesn’t have to raise his head by much, since he’s almost his father’s height, but it’s still annoying) and narrows his eyes.

“Don’t you dare, dad”, he warns him.

He can feel the grins on his siblings’ faces, and he’s aware of the dozens of photos being taken with the sole purpose of being used as taunting material for the years to come, so he’s trying his best to limit the damage. At least for Bruce. He has no pity for Dick.

Bruce smiles as his hands move to straighten Damian’s tie.

“Sorry”, he says. “It’s just. I’m so proud of you.”

Damian frowns.

“I fail to see the reason”, he answers. “Jon and I have been together for years, the purpose of this ceremony is only to put it in legally binding writing so that we can share the social and economical benefits granted by the institution of marriage itself.”

“Marriage is also an oath”, Bruce replies with an indulgent smile, and Damian clicks his tongue at him. He hates when someone in his family seems to see directly through him, especially on things like this one. It’s an oath is exactly what he said to Jon when they started discussing this thing, it’s the only way he could try to explain why it was important to him. Not the ceremony itself, but the action. The promise. The trust behind it.

“Not my first one”, he reminds now to Bruce.

“No, not you first one”, his father softly agrees.

“So you are proud of me for not having commitment issues as the rest of this family does, then?”

“You’re not going to make this easy, are you?”, Bruce laughs, and it’s a good laugh to Damian’s to hear. “Then let me rephrase it: I’m proud of the kid you were and of the man you’ve become. I’m proud of being here today with you, and your siblings, and Jon, and his family. And I’m proud of being your father.”

And yeah, there’s no denying the tears in Bruce’s eyes now. The fool.

Damian blinks and discretely swallows the lump in his throat.

“Thank you”, he answers with a wavering voice. “I hope you’re aware that Clark’s heard all of that and he’s going to repeat it word by word in front of everyone.”

Bruce laughs again and leans down and kisses him on the forehead.

“He can’t embarrass me if I beat him to it. Now go on, Jon’s waiting.”

Damian sighs and shakes his head.

“You are really getting old, Father.”

It’s not over yet, he knows.

He steps on the extemporary altar and faces the wall of his siblings with equal parts of courage and resignation.

His sisters are wearing long, green silk dresses - the only color they came to agree upon, ironically enough - and his brothers black tuxedos with inserts of the same green. Damian was the only one to consider it tacky, even Jon - the traitor - had called it cute.

“Please, just make it quick and painless.”

They take pity on him and do as he asks. Damian sighs but doesn’t protest the hugs and the kisses and the light teasing and the sexual innuendos, nor the emotions behind all of it. And when Dick hugs him, he actually buries his face in his oldest brother’s shoulder.

“I’m proud of you, kiddo”, Dick only says, voice still wet.

And Damian thinks about Talia standing somewhere in the back of the hall, looking but not speaking, a whole other life staring at him from not so far away, and he nods, eyes close for the briefest moment.

“I know.”

Then he collects himself and turns around only to see Jon enveloped in his parents’ arms, blushing to his ears just like Damian is, and he supposes that’s a good start on this sharing everything till death us do part thing.
