I don't know why Tumblr decided years later to tell me there is a response to me for this post. But since I see your response now, it is only fair I give a full response in return since I did not address some things in my short reply.
Regarding your comment on Anakin having not seen Palpatine for years, that is actually not true. In canonical comics and novels, we know that the Jedi allowed Palpatine to be a mentor to Anakin since he was a young boy. They have interacted numerous times for years, and this is why by the time of Attack of the Clones, Anakin and Palpatine already have a relationship, why Palpatine says "your patience has paid off" and Anakin answers "your guidance more than my patience". Because they have been interacting, because Palpatine has been whispering in Anakin's ear for years.
Now again, this is not to say that Anakin can't be responsible for the choices that he does make. But we can't ignore that Palpatine actively manipulated, exploited, and groomed Anakin. And that influence does matter in the context of this story. This isn't just Anakin on his own going off the handle, this is someone for whom life has already been a struggle, who already feels isolated even among his fellow Jedi and then Palpatine comes in to carefully and slowly over the years pouring fuel on the fire before it becomes an inferno.
And as for Padme's reaction to Anakin's revelation about the Tuskens, she was shocked, she was clearly thrown off, but note that she takes a moment before she considers her next words, because she can see that Anakin is crying, upset, and clearly feeling conflict and guilt over what he did. So yes, she says to be angry is to be human, because saying "You're insane!" is hardly going to actually resolve this situation. This isn't Anakin all proud and happy going LOOK I KILLED ALL OF THEM! If that was the case, then yes, Padme's reaction would not be appropriate. But Anakin wasn't proud, he was angry, he was upset, he even says he should have behaved better than what he did. It's clear to Padme that Anakin recognizes the wrong in what he did, but he lost sight of that in the heat of moment because of the murder of his mother. And sure, we see the signs as an outsider with a clear perspective, but there is a reason that people within a relationship has a harder time seeing things clearly. To Padme, she is seeing that young boy who was a slave torn away from his mother, she is seeing and understanding where that rage and anger would come from, and she is seeing that he feels conflicted and guilty, not proud. So she tries to help, she tries to de-escalate. She also wants to see the best in Anakin, the same way that we all want to see the best in the people closest to us.
And in any case, whether Padme and Anakin would have had a happy future with the twins, it doesn't change the fact that they deserved a chance, they deserved a chance to figure things out and have a life with their children.
---------------------------
And regarding your other comments in the original post. I wanted to address some things.
I really find it distasteful to compare two women through saying one is better because she was willing to die to have a child while the other couldn't stay alive for her children. It oversimplifies a lot of things, particuarly regarding emotional trauma, and it is blaming Padme for her own death. It is in many ways painting a woman as vapid and shallow for dying of a "broken heart" instead of being alive for her children, and then effectively implying that it makes her a bad mother and that's why she doesn't deserve to have her children with her and they should be raised by someone else. Maybe you don't mean to come off that way, but it just comes across as very unsympathetic to the ways emotional trauma can affect a person. Someone losing the will to live after being dealt with a huge emotional trauma (the collapse of her entire world, both everything she fought for and the life she wanted with Anakin and their family) does not mean she was choosing to just abandon her children. And having seen people waste away and die because of "heartbreak" from losing a partner, as silly as that might seem to some, it's not something people just choose to do (like depression) or that they just up and decided to abandon their other loved ones, including kids because they weren't fighting hard enough for them to stay. Trauma doesn't fit in a neat little box with a rule book, and the way you have framed Padme's death in this as a negative mark against her just rubs me the wrong way.
As for Bail not being able to stand up after being told his daughter was killed versus Anakin torturing Leia, this is just missing the context that Bail knew it was his daughter and Anakin didn't. If Anakin had still done torturing even though he knew Leia was his daughter, then this comparison would be more valid and fair.
And as for "Breha and Bail put themselves in danger by adopting Leia selflessly" - I'm not saying they didn't do a good thing or that it wasn't dangerous, but it also wasn't entirely selfless. They wanted a child and they got one. It would be more selfless if they had not intended to have any kids but took Leia in anyways. Ultimately, this opportunity gave them something THEY wanted.
Lastly, I'll just reiterate what I said before, both sets of parents are valid, and Breha and Bail clearly did a great job raising Leia, as Owen and Beru did for Luke, but Leia and Luke clearly also did inherit good qualities from their biological parents, qualities that both sets of adoptive parents nurtured and helped to blossom, qualities that ultimately led them to saving the galaxy. I would never want to remove Breha/Bail and Owen/Beru from Leia and Luke's lives, but I would also always stand up to say that Anakin and Padme deserved a chance to have a life with their children. Maybe it wouldn't have been a perfectly idyllic and romantic life, but they still deserved a chance.
"Anakin and Padme deserved to raise their twins"
Breha Organa literally suffered at least 5 miscarriages and was willing to die for her children, and almost die with her last miscarriage.
Bail Organa literally couldn't stand up straight after being told her daughter was killed.
Breha and Bail put themselves in danger by adopting Leia selflessly.
While:
Anakin murdered women and children BEFORE Palpatine's manipulation and his fall to the dark side and tortured his own daughter.
Padme not only didn't care Anakin killing children, but she die because she was heartbroken after Anakin turning bad, leaving two babies who needed her.
NO, I WOULDN'T CHANGE BAIL AND BREHA ORGANA AS LEIA'S PARENTS FOR ANYTHING

Obsessed - Part 9 (Azriel x Reader)
Summary: After Azriel's mother reprimands him, he orchestrates another coincidence that leads to a reconciliation.
Warnings: Y/n being a bit naive and delulu. Azriel being the hopeless billionaire still in love because we all deserve a man like this. Azriel saying fluffy and corny things because we deserve men who say such things to us.
Word count: 3.6k

****
“You insensitive little shit.” Such a pleasant woman, his mother. “How dare you violate someone’s privacy?”
“Mum, I-”
“And this is how you approached her?” Clearly, Azriel’s mother had no intention of letting him speak.
“I-”
“There are many ways to meet new people, Azriel. The most common one being that you could’ve gone up to her and politely introduced yourself.”
“She would’ve rejected me.”
“She should definitely reject you after the stunt you pulled.”
“How-”
“The audacity. . .” Needless to say, Azriel received a scolding for the next seventeen minutes. “Leave her alone, Azriel. You’ve hurt her immeasurably. Your devotion does not compensate for that.”
“I want her in my life.”
“Then start by giving her some space. Let her sort out her feelings.”
“She’s hurting.”
“You hurt her, in case you forgot.” Like his mother would ever let him forget. “And don’t creep around in your building’s common areas just to see her.”
“Yes.”
“If I hear anything otherwise, I will stop baking pineapple cake for Christmas.”
For those of you unfamiliar with Azriel, this was the most effective way to threaten him. With his favourite dessert. Or the lack thereof.
“Yes, mum.” But Azriel’s mind had already begun concocting ideas. He was the Chairman of Umbra for fuck’s sake. If he could run a billion-dollar empire, he could definitely get Y/n back.
“If you run a billion dollar empire then I gave birth to you. Mark my words, Azriel. If you loiter around her like an aimless fool, I will burn my recipe book.”
His mother was a pleasant woman. Her threats did not involve bodily harm. But whether he’d be able to have his mother’s homemade desserts was still debatable. “I’ll call you later. It’s my turn for the appointment.”
“Bye, mum.”
“Maintain your distance.” And she ended the call.
Azriel supposed Y/n would definitely like his mother as a mother-in-law. His mother would have a daughter to dote on and he could simply watch the two of them chatter while sipping coffee.
Y/n had an internship. At a university in another European country. As a research assistant to a professor. For three months. Then she’d return to her own university in the city where they first met and fell in love.
Well, he fell in love and she was unaware but not to worry, everything would be fine.
****
Azriel knew for certain that his events management abilities were applause worthy. Why wouldn’t they be?
Because the way he orchestrated his meeting with Y/n and ended up being her neighbour was something.
And now, he’d orchestrate a few more events.
Y/n’s internship had ended.
It was a good thing for her professor that he was a well mannered, decent human being. Else, Azriel would’ve definitely intervened in a manner that wouldn’t have ended well.
And now, she was back in the same city. She had just begun the second year of her master’s program.
Wonderful.
In three weeks, the reclusive chairman of Umbra would give his first guest lecture in a university.
Was it a coincidence that this was the same university Y/n attended? Absolutely not.
Because Azriel did not wait around for things to happen. He made things happen.
That’s how he reached where he was and he was definitely not going to be discouraged.
She’d begun to shine again during her internship. Friends, both new and old, helped her navigate life.
He hadn’t contacted her per his mother’s instructions.
Some days, he’d just randomly opened their chat. He’d see her online and sometimes, he’d type but he never sent a message. And he never received one either.
Azriel sighed.
He looked at his choice of clothes for his guest lecture. The topic was his latest collaboration with Rhysand’s Velaris Corp to acquire Hewn Inc.
He had to look so jaw droppingly handsome that Y/n would fly into his arms and they could run off into the sunset together.
Black was his colour.
He knew it.
And Y/n found him hot in black.
So it was decided. Black trousers, sweater, long trench coat.
That’s how he found himself on the stage of an auditorium, holding a mic, giving a lecture, and answering questions posed by eager and foolish students alike.
The lecture had ended. Some students and faculties stayed back for follow up questions. Azriel patiently answered all of them when he saw her.
Y/n.
And he was hers.
Immediately and undoubtedly hers.
What a sad time it was when he was not hers. A sad time spanning twenty-nine years of his life.
“Excuse me.” And Azriel made his way towards her. But then he stopped when her gaze found him.
Fuck.
Fuck.
Fuck.
He wasn’t prepared for this.
He thought he was but he wasn’t.
He hated it.
The sight of her entire body seized by the grief of his betrayal. Her emotions all over her face for him to read that Y/n had most definitely not moved on from him.
Someone covered her from his line of sight. A face turned back with the glare of a demon. Nesta Archeron.
He sighed. And Nesta seemed offended that her glare had resulted in a sigh. She turned back and took his Y/n away.
Azriel looked up at the sky as he pulled out his phone. He still didn’t look at the device.
The evening pinks and violets painted the sky. Clouds were scarce. The moon was readying for its appearance. And Azriel was brooding.
A call came. A different ringtone. The one he’d set for her.
“How many more lies?” A soft voice whispered. He knew she was referring to him not telling about his designation in Umbra. She’d thought him an ordinary employee.
“As many as it takes to ensure your safety.” He breathed.
“Why are you here?”
“Guest lecture.”
“And it happened to be right here?”
“Yeah.” It would happen anywhere she was. Guest lectures, conferences, and whatever the fuck that would give him a chance to see her and breathe the same air as her.
A pause. The wind whispered something to him and danced with his hair for a while. “You’re beautiful.”
Silence.
The call continued. And he felt oddly chaotic and calm.
“Go away, Azriel.”
“I cannot take impossible requests.”
“Then take impossible orders and make it possible.” Y/n was firm. “Leave me alone.”
“I cannot.” And he knew his voice was shaky.
“Why?”
“I need to know you’re safe, comfortable, and happy. It’s all that keeps me sane in your absence.”
“What if I meet someone else?”
His breath hitched. “Safe, comfortable, and happy, Y/n. That’s where my selfishness for you extends.”
“And you’re selfless in other areas?”
“You ended our relationship, Y/n, not my feelings. I will be jealous. I will be angry. But I will prioritise your safety, comfort, and happiness.”
He’d limit it to that. Let her think that his feelings were warm and fuzzy like that favourite blanket of hers and not a mad obsession luring him into an abysmal terrain.
She did not need to know that he’d dismember and torture and slowly kill anybody who thought they had a chance with her.
Azriel heard a sob. Some core part of him cracked. He looked in the direction where she had disappeared to with Nesta. She was not there.
He wanted to comfort her.
Hold her and tell her not to cry because he’d make it all better.
But he was the reason for her tears.
So he remained silent.
Her cries slowly stopped and he heard footsteps through the phone. “What are you really doing here?”
“I want to see you.” The footsteps paused. She was probably standing somewhere.
“You saw me.” She immediately threw the words as if they were an accusation.
“Didn’t see you enough.”
She remained silent. Azriel really couldn’t believe he’d said that. He was a master at controlling his emotions. At least, until Y/n.
“Why didn’t you tell me about Umbra?”
“I wanted to hog you for myself. Not for the man who owns Umbra.”
“You are that man.”
“I’ve always been Azriel. I did not own Umbra all my life.” The pain of being an illegitimate child suddenly came to the forefront of his mind.
“And now it’s an inseparable part of you.”
“Not as inseparable as you think.” Because he’d leave it all behind for her.
“I liked you, Azriel.” Everything paused. The pain in her voice made it all too evident that she still liked him. “I really did but this. . . This is just. .”
“I want another chance, Y/n.”
“How can you ask such a thing?”
“Another chance with you knowing the full extent of what I will do for you.”
“And what is this extent?”
“There’s no extent.”
“What?”
“There’s no extent, no line, no limit on what I will do for you.” And even if there was an extent he couldn’t recall right now, he knew Y/n was not unreasonable enough to demand for it. And if she was, then he’d simply comply.
“Does that extent also include violating my privacy? Disrespecting me? As long as you’ve secured my safety and happiness?”
“There’s no line I won’t-”
“The problem wasn’t the line. The problem wasn’t Umbra. The problem was you hiding it all from me. The problem was you not asking my permission, not considering my feelings, while digging up everything about me like a mole rat.”
Azriel remained stunned.
How had this slipped past him?
He’d thought he was careful with her feelings. And so, he’d resolved to only tell the good things. Things that wouldn’t be troublesome for her while wanting to know all about her and her problems so that he could eliminate them and make life easier for her.
But was this a true relationship where he carried the burdens and she carried the joy?
Weren’t they supposed to carry their lives together no matter the good or the bad?
“You hide things from me but you want to know everything about me so you just get someone to find it all.”
“I’m truly sorry, Y/n. I should’ve told you everything.” And since he hadn’t, he’d lost her. “I was desperate to have every bit of you.” But that desperation hadn’t entitled him to all those bits. “I’m sorry for violating your privacy.” He should’ve waited to know everything that comprised this wonderful woman. “I couldn’t wait. And I’ve now lost you.”
“What am I even supposed to say?”
“You don’t have any obligation to say anything.”
“I have no obligation to listen to you.” No, she didn’t. This call was just an act of mercy she granted owing to her own feelings for him that she couldn’t control.
“Thank you for listening.”
“I suppose you have more to say.”
“I do.” He really wanted to say these words at their wedding.
“Let’s meet.” She sniffled. “I want to know what exactly you know about me.” In the background, he could hear Nesta telling Y/n against it.
“When are you free?” She gave him a time and venue. And Azriel motioned to the assistant who’d accompanied him that they were leaving. “I’ll meet you there.”
Silence prevailed. The only sound was his own footsteps.
“Why are you not ending the call?”
“I’ve never ended any of our calls.” Because he’d always wanted to hear her voice. Even if she had anything to say at the last minute. They’d done that many times.
“Bye.” And he couldn’t help his sad sigh. Azriel walked over to the venue even though there was time.
****
Y/n was getting the lecture of her life. Nesta was incessantly rambling while she got ready.
She’d spotted Azriel outside the Department of Business Studies after her classes had ended and she was heading back to her flat shared with her friend.
“You have to be careful with him. Are you listening to me?” Nesta placed her hands on Y/n’s shoulders.
“Yeah.” She slumped against her best friend.
“And it does not matter if he’s devilishly handsome or sexy or you had the best sex of your life with him or if you like him or love him or he likes you or loves you or-”
“I’ll be fine.” Nesta really didn’t have to remind her about Azriel’s attractiveness.
“Really?” Nesta didn’t say it out loud but she knew her well enough. Her friend definitely thought that Y/n would reconcile with Azriel.
“Yeah.”
Nesta took her in a hug. “Got your pepper spray?”
“Mhm.”
“So the first thing you do is to spray it. Spray it all over his unnecessarily pretty face.” Y/n remembered the first time she’d talked to Nesta about Azriel and she’d used the words ‘unnecessarily pretty’ to describe him.
“I’m going there to talk.”
“Then spray it on his eyes and ears.”
“All right.” Y/n chuckled. She knew her friend was furious at this man she’d never even met.
It had taken her a while to revive herself. The depth of her feelings for Azriel revealed itself to her only upon his betrayal.
And she felt like she was heading to war. It probably was, in a sense.
Y/n reached the park ten minutes before but she loitered around, her nerves wracking and snapping against her, telling her to leave.
“Y/n.” She’d recognise that voice. She was weak for him like that.
Y/n turned and saw him dressed for a funeral. In black.
Any other day and she would’ve thought he looked hot but today when she was a miserable mess with no rein over her feelings, she worried for herself.
Was he going to kill her and chop her body and scatter the pieces in some sewer like he’d done with her heart?
“Azriel.” Yep. She sounded weak. Affected.
He took a step forward, the leaves crunching beneath his shoe. Y/n took a step back.
This conversation was definitely going to be difficult.
“Would you like me to remain at a distance?” He asked, gently. And she was reminded of the times when this man simply clung to her frame because he didn’t want to let go. In bed, the bath, all around their apartments.
“Yes.” She breathed. “What do you know about me?”
And he narrated her own story.
About her pathetic family, her horrifying mother, her counselling sessions from high school, all the people who hurt her, all the people she’d ever befriended.
He knew everything that had ever been documented about her.
At the end of his revelation, she simply closed her eyes and sighed.
“I won’t tell anyone.” He promised solemnly. Was his word worth anything now? Or wasn’t it?
“Am I supposed to trust that?” She dryly asked. And with those words, she’d hurt him. She saw the hurt painted on his face like a dark stain. And fury pumped through her veins.
“You’re not entitled to feel hurt.” How dare he pretend he was the victim here? “Not after this.” She stood up and grabbed her sling bag and phone. Azriel immediately stood up. “I. .” But she really had nothing to say.
Y/n didn’t know what he was going to do with all that information. But maybe it didn’t matter since he had the resources to do that to anyone. He could keep tabs on her for the rest of her miserable life.
Even then, no matter how long and hard she thought about it, she didn’t mind.
She didn’t mind him keeping tabs on her.
She didn’t mind him knowing where she was and what she was doing. She’d told him enough of that herself while they were together and happy.
In a way, she understood it. Maybe she even liked it.
Y/n was honestly only bothered by him hiding this. By him digging her past out of a box she wasn’t ready to open in front of him.
Was this devotion?
Or simply madness?
“I won’t tell you that I wouldn’t do it if we went back in time because I would.” Oh, he was hell bent on making this difficult.
“You could’ve told me.” She whispered. “That you were having me followed.”
Y/n closed her eyes and inhaled deeply before she continued.
“And you should’ve waited for me to tell you everything.” All that fucked up part of her, a product of her mother’s parenting skills. “You have the nerve to dig into my past and yet, you kept yours hidden. You’ve kept your life hidden from me and I respected that.”
Y/n held up a hand when she saw Azriel open his mouth to speak. He had such a beautiful mouth. She wanted him to kiss her.
“I’m not interested in you knowing everything and that too without my knowledge and permission while I know nearly nothing about you. And before you ask, information on Google does not count.”
“I’m an illegitimate child.” What?
Y/n remained shocked as Azriel told her his story. Of how his father and brothers mistreated him and his mother, how he killed them before he took over Umbra.
“Why did you tell me? You had no obligation.” Gods, she really was weak for this man. And for him to be so emotionally vulnerable in front of her made her want to hug him.
“Because now I realise that a romance is also to be a partnership. It shouldn’t be me knowing everything while you live obliviously. You have as much right to know.”
Yep, she was doomed.
Her resolve was faltering. And she was feeling and falling.
The hot chocolate in front of her that she’d ordered as a formality was cooling down.
“One chance.” She whispered, praying silently that he wouldn’t break her heart again. “And that will be your last one.”
****
Azriel knew failure. Many different types of it. He’d known it when he failed his first test. When he lost his first fight. When his applications were rejected. When he had been rejected by friends, girlfriends, his father, his half-brothers, his stepmother.
So much had been taken from him. And he’d been pushed to the edge of the world before he found the resolve to stand up. It was the sight of his mother cringing in front of his father.
And then he concocted his wonderful five-year plan. At the end of it, Umbra was his. His mother, safe and comfortable. His father and half-brother, dead. And that wretch of a stepmother, practically exiled.
And then he’d lost Y/n, truly and completely.
Azriel wanted Y/n. He’d spent the best few months of his life with her.
She made him endlessly happy and he tried his best to do the same for her.
He knew her presence in his life was a privilege. But now it seemed like he’d never taken that privilege seriously and had never respected it in the manner he should have.
So when she gave him one last chance, he’d been revived. His posture changed, eyes widening. Every movement right then felt as though he was rising from the grave or a coffin and returning to the land of the living.
Honesty. That would now be an integral part of this relationship. There would be no excuses. And then he remembered something he’d caused.
Azriel debated telling her but since secrecy had never worked in his favour in this relationship, he made his decision. “So, remember your ex?”
Y/n frowned. “Which one?”
“The one from college.” He was unprecedentedly nervous.
“Yeah.”
“The one roped into a tax fraud.”
“Yeah?” Y/n blinked and leaned forward. “You did that?”
Azriel nodded quietly. She slumped back into her seat and sighed. “Well, he’s no longer my concern. Do I have to convince you to move on from him?”
“He hasn’t gotten enough.”
“And he deserves no effort from anybody, the good or the bad. Anything else you want to tell me?”
“I’ve never had a proper relationship before.” Her eyes widened and she kept looking at him as if she’d never seen him before. Why would she do that?
“How come?”
Why was she asking such a question? Wasn’t it obvious why he’d never been in a proper, serious relationship. “Because I’d never met you before.”
Silence prevailed. Y/n looked away in that adorable manner of hers, clearly blushing. And Azriel couldn’t help his smile. “Does that surprise you?”
She glared at him and then stood up. The evening wind was cool and felt pleasant on her face. Y/n looked around, finally noticing the park around her.
People were in pairs, walking or simply sitting. Couples, most likely.
And then there was her. With him. On a bench. Sitting at a distance. Azriel really wanted that distance to vanish. So he called her name.
Y/n looked back at him and he was already looking back at her. “I swear to all the hot chocolate in the world, Azriel. If you ever pull a stunt like this, I’m leaving you.”
He took a step forward. And another. She did not move from her place. “May I?”
“Yes.” She breathed, eyes closing. Memories sprung forth like a fountain from all the times they'd kissed.
He pressed his lips on her forehead before promising. “I won’t pull a stunt like this. Ever. And if you do leave me, you will be leaving with my heart as you did three months ago.”
“And you’ll give guest lectures to see me even after that?” Y/n leaned into his touch and smiled. The first smile in months. He felt some semblance of peace settle in his heart.
“A Ted Talk, if needed.” Azriel smiled at her faintly. And behind his smile, he really hoped for their future.

athena!!
Tumblr media
idk about yall but i think we all need more three piece suits in media. esp when athena is wearing them. for @sporadicallyanenthusiast :3
--
athena is a lawyer who as part of her degree worked at the local library (community service kind of module)
after graduating continued to volunteer at the local school library
liked it so much and was so invested her masters degree was in education (something like how funding and infrastructure laws affect literacy rates. or something idk lol)
was a very kickass thesis *cough* she took courses and earned certificates and eventually was made head teacher (yas queen)
is a very very professional individual, strong leadership skills and always several steps ahead, earns her the respect and cooperation of her peers
isnt very social. always working little to no time for pleasantries and small talk. she is a good conversationalist tho, diplomatic and straight to the point. 'no funny business'.
outside of work she lives in a nice flat with her partner, a marine biologist who wants a pet shark named eugenie (after the iconic shark lady eugenie clark :D)
yes its pallas lol. they deserve to be happy okay (the only tragic romances here belong to apollo. sorry bro its for ur own good)
also they have a qpr and im leaving it at that. they dont limit the bond they share with each other by defining it. aww
pallas is kinda the polar opposite of athena, a social (aquatic) buttefly who does well with and enjoys the company of others, she values her space and alone time tho, esp if its with her lil owl
back to athena
believe it or not she prefers tea over coffee (pallas is the caffeine fiend) and fruits and nuts are her favourite things to snack on
savoury over sweet any day (pallas also has a catastrophic sweet tooth lol) and likes to do all sorts of needlework and fibre art in her spare time
their apartment is full of rugs and throw blankets and embroidery hoops fill the walls and many, many shelves
i will add more stuff by and by. for now enjoy :D
grey eyed athene (didnt like how it turned out lol so heres a closeup)
Tumblr media
anything blue or thereabouts is from pallas hehe ;)

Odysseus does not become a monster by the end of EPIC.
Every single act of violence Odysseus commits is justified. He doesn’t lash out for no reason or lose control of himself like a so-called monster.
First off, let’s talk about Astyanax. Yes, Odysseus feels guilt when he kills him because Astyanax was just a baby. But guess what? It wasn’t Odysseus just deciding to be cruel — it was an order from the gods. Divine will, Jorge. Odysseus doesn’t kill for fun; he does what’s necessary, even when it weighs on him. So no, this doesn’t make him a monster. It makes him a servant of fate.
Now, let’s move to Polyphemus. Odysseus blinds the Cyclops because Polyphemus kills his men. That’s not monstrous, that’s survival. And no, Odysseus doesn’t feel guilt afterward. The only regret he shows is when Poseidon’s wrath makes his life harder. Otherwise, he’s out there flaunting his cleverness, shouting his name, and basically trolling Polyphemus because, guess what? It was justified. Polyphemus attacked first.
Then there’s Circe. Odysseus immediately fights her, beats her, and doesn’t feel bad about it at all. He doesn’t even dwell on it, he just tells her she lost and demands his men back because she turned them into pigs. Again, he’s not out here being needlessly cruel. His actions are justified because Circe started it. End of story.
And let’s not forget the Sirens. Odysseus cuts off their tails and lets them drown without mercy. Harsh? Sure. But they tried to lure his crew to their deaths, so again, justified. He’s not going to waste time mourning monsters that attacked first.
Now, I’ll give you this: the only moment where we can even speculate about guilt is when Odysseus sacrifices six men to Scylla. But let’s be real, what choice did he have? It was either lose six men or lose everyone. That’s not a choice; that’s a tragic necessity. It’s justified because the alternative was total annihilation.
Then there’s Zeus demanding the rest of the crew’s lives because they angered Helios. This is another case where Odysseus doesn’t really have a choice. It’s not like he could fight Zeus. He sacrifices them because the gods demanded it, and as cruel as it is, it’s not on him. Blame the gods, not Odysseus.
And now we get to the suitors. People love to act like this is the moment where Odysseus becomes the monster, but let’s not forget: the suitors planned to kill his son, rape his wife, and steal his kingdom. Killing them was not just justified, it was necessary. He was reclaiming what was his and protecting his family. If he showed no mercy, it’s because they didn’t deserve any. People point out that he uses darkness like Polyphemus in his own palace, traps his enemies like Circe, aims for the torches like Scylla, fights from afar like Poseidon, and denies mercy like all of them. But here’s the thing: even those monsters had justified reasons for what they did. Polyphemus was avenging his sheep, Circe was protecting her nymphs, Scylla and the Sirens attacked to survive, Poseidon was avenging his son, and even Zeus was punishing a wrong against Helios. Another monster who gets justified is Calypso. Calypso has been alone for one hundred years, so it is entirely justifiable that she is incapable of taking no for an answer. And even then, Odysseus does not become a monster. Because when he asks Penelope if she’d fall in love with him again, he’s willing to take no for an answer. That’s the exact opposite of Calypso’s behavior. The whole time, his “he’s becoming a monster” angle is undermined. Like, you wrote a world where every so-called “monster” has a reason for their actions, and suddenly Odysseus is a different beast now? Puh-lease. If Odysseus really became a monster, then he had to be stripped away of all these justifications that force him into morally indefensible actions. I hear most of you will say that him becoming a monster is not really about his actions, and it is all moreso related to the fact he no longer feels guilt. But like, hun, the thing is...Odysseus never even feels guilt for most of the wrongs he does, except like once or twice. That’s...not a shift at the end. It’s always been his way. May I remind everyone that 99% of the atrocities committed during the Trojan War were thought of, planned, and executed by Odysseus without a shred of remorse? That’s who he is. Calculating, strategic, and utterly ruthless when he needs to be.

So, I finished watching Arcane. I watched both seasons twice to be sure of my conclusions. I am not writing this to have a discussion, argue with someone or spread hatred towards certain characters. Basically, I am just expressing my opinion while the impressions are still fresh.
First of all. I think the series has not enough episodes, but not because I liked everything so much and want more, but because there was simply not enough time for the world exploration and the characters. I would add at least five episodes to each season to make things better.
I felt like the events were moving too fast, especially in s2. I can only praise the graphics, they are truly magnificent, also the action is divine, the dynamics, the movements, the special effects, the character desig... all of this is top notch.
But I have a lot of complaints about the rest.
Let's start with Vander and Silco.
Yes, I ship them. No, I don't think Vander is an abuser and a traitor, if you think otherwise, well, our opinions differ here. Vander is the best man of the show, you cannot convince me otherwise and he is probably the only man who I would have married in real life.
Vander is my sunshine, I love him and respect him, no matter what anyone says. And I sincerely wish for more characters like him in leading roles.
I really wanted more of their interactions. At least two more episodes to show their past, maybe their acquaintance and to expand on that scene in the river, which gave people a very strange opinion about their relationship.
Do I think Silco is good? No, he is selfish, he did a lot of shit and tried to kill the daughters of a woman who was his friend, he raised one of them to be a complete psychopath, lied to her… but in his own way he loved her. However, he still did a lot of shit. Do I hate him? No, I still ship him with Vander, but I don't think Silco's a good person. Do I think he's redimable? Maybe, but I hate when people use his past to redeam him, redemption is something you do now, past only explains how you became what you became.
Jinx. Despite everyone's love for her, I think she deserved everything she got. But I "admire" how the fandom is protective of her. A rough childhood in the past does not justify her behavior in the present. You may think otherwise, you may like her, but I do not, although I think she is a very bright and memorable character, but as a person, as a human being she clearly sucks. The part with Isha just popped out of nowhere and seems far-fetched.
Ekko. Ma boy! I love him, but there is a "BUT". Basically, Ekko is the one who started this whole mess. He was the one who gave Vi a tip about Jace's apartment, and basically, he is indirectly to blame for Vi's death in that AU and in our universe he is to blame for Silco tracking down Vander. That's all. But do I blame him? No.
Ekko and Jinx… well, I liked their dynamic and chemistry in the alternate universe. But I think they probably wouldn't have a future in the original one.
Vi and Caitlyn. Well… they just are. I find it hard to believe that two girls from literally different worlds could fall in love within only two days. Of course, I do not think that such romances aren't possible, sometimes you see two characters and that just becames so obvious for you, but I personally didn't have that feeling with these two. Again, I didn't have enough of their dynamic together. And also I can't be mad at Caitlyn for switching to Maddie. It did feel odd, tho. But she and Vi.. there was just one quick kiss between them, no love words, they didn't even have time to develop their feelings into a relationship. And then there was a sex scene. I don't hate this ship, it's bright and dynamic, but something was lacking between them for sure.
Jayce (whom I like the most in season 2) and Victor ship. This one is complicated. Let's start with the fact that I understand why people ship them. But… they didn't feel as a potential ship to me at all. Probably because I've seen enough of such ships and they don't surprise me at all. This is a ship of two friends, that's a common thing in fandoms. Two conventionally attractive guys, one of whom is built like a god. I like their dynamics individually, or as friends, but I will never argue with anyone that ships them, I will never say the ship has no right to exist or that they are "brothers" because someone said so. I don't care about them as a ship, but I see that people are inspired by it, and I don't see anything wrong with people considering them soulmates and lovers and I sincerely don't understand the hate towards the boys. I think it was obvious from the very first moment that peopple would ship them.
However, I will still add a fly in the ointment: I did not like Jayce's speech at the end of the series about Victor being perfect even with his imperfections he had…I just… Dude, are you serious? This imperfection is literally killing your friend and if what happened hadn't happened, he would have already died. His imperfection was causing him hellish pain, it is not even about the looks, bad habits like alcoholism and smoking, it's not even about physical limitations… it's about dying, for gods sake! So are you for real?
Maybe everyone sees this moment in their own way, but it was cringy for me to hear it, despite the beauty of the scene.
Vi and Jayce. I really liked their dynamic together, I would probably ship them, but alas. However, I liked their conversations, how they work together, I would like more moments with them, they would make great friends.
That's it, probably.
I'm glad that Mel will be in Nexus. And I also don't understand the hatred towards her, although I also don't think she and Jayce are a good couple, they should have remained just friends and colleagues.

My interpretation of 'Would you fall in love with me again'
So I have seen a lot of interpretations of Penelope's stunt with the wedding bed, but I haven't seen anyone echo my own so I thought I'd share? This is just my opinion though.
I think that the wedding bed thing was not just Penelope's way of saying Odysseus is always her husband no matter how much of a monster he thinks he is. I think she was calling his bluff.
Because throughout Epic, Ody's arc has him becoming a monster to get back home to his family. In Monster, he explicitly gives up his humanity to make it back home. And for the majority of act two, he stays true to this conviction. He is a monster, and he is ok with this, because it is what helps him to get back home.
However, when he sees Penelope again, he loses his conviction. As he faces his sweet and gentle wife, the woman he has been dreaming about for all these years and placing upon a pedestal, he falters. Because he feels he doesn't deserve her now that he has become a monster.
So even though it breaks his heart, he pushes her away. He tells her that he isn't the man she once knew and he questions whether she would ever fall in love with the version of him that he has become. In all of his lyrics in this song, he expresses how she could never fall in love with him again after everything he's done. He plays the part of a martyr, willing to give up his one true love because she should not be forced to love a monster.
Now, Odysseus is a rather selfish character. I think we can all agree on this, yes? It was selfish of him to taunt the cyclops, selfish of him to approach Aeolus alone and to keep the windbag to himself, selfish of him to refuse to listen to Eury when they first arrived at Circe's, selfish of him to sacrifice six men to Scylla, the list goes on. He isn't afraid to do what he has to to get what he wants.
And Penelope knows this.
So she rejects him, and she does it in the most hurtful way possible - telling him to literally uproot their lives, that she can't stand him to the point that she wants every reminder of him gone, even if that means basically destroying their room by removing the bed. This was 'a symbol of their love everlasting' so by asking him to get rid of it, she is saying that she really never could fall in love with him again.
And Odysseus fights back, because he is still selfish. He still wants his wife to love him. Despite pushing her away, he actually can't stand the idea of losing her after everything he went through to get back home to her. He cannot give her up.
Penelope points this out to him. You are my husband. Do not try to say that you don't deserve me, do not try to shy away from me because of what you have done. Don't play the part of a martyr now, when you have martyred others just to get back home to me.
You are selfish. You are a monster. But I love you regardless.
Because Odysseus will always be her husband. And just the fact that he feels he doesn't deserve her proves that her 'kind and gentle husband' is still in there, somewhere. She'll help him to return to a place of love and empathy one day. But it's something they'll do together, not apart.
And I think that's beautiful.

Both Jon and Catelyn were betrayed. Catelyn was already grieving many losses, and as far as she knew, the last of her family had just been killed in front of her. Not to mention, she was betrayed by people she already did not trust. The only thing on her mind was vengeance.
Jon was betrayed, yes, and that will have a big impact on his character. But we also know Bowen Marsh didn't hate Jon. He didn't even want Jon dead originally. He was more worried with all the changes being made that the Watch would be no longer. Do I think Jon will show mercy? No. But I would also like to point out that unlike Catelyn, Jon is a warg. He has a second life in Ghost before he will be brought back to his body. What that means and how that will happen I cannot say. But this also means that the influence death has over him will look different. There will still be a drastic change, and it most likely won't be pretty, but I don't think it will be vengeance that he seeks.
As for Gilly, because I knew it was going to be brought up at some point. It's a take many people love to point out to justify hating Jon. He didn't sell anyone. He made a choice in an attempt to save a baby's life. He feared that Melissandre would take the life of Dalla's child for the "King's blood." He didn't know she knew of his plan until after it had already been done. But he also didn't want a child to die. He didn't believe any child deserved to die. In fact, we see in his contemplation of taking up Stannis on his offer, that Jon imagines fostering both children at Winterfell. Raising them together as brothers, like he and Robb were. He even directly states like him and Robb. He did not make that decision lightly, nor did he only see it as a task to complete. He saw those babies as people, with lives that they deserved the chance to live.
He also didn't like the idea of separating a child from his mother since he himself grew up without one. If he had believed there to be another way, or if he had been able to trust that Melissandre would not take the life of an infant, he wouldn't have made that decision. You could make the argument that "why didn't he let Gilly take both children then?" Well, to that, I answer that he didn't know Melissandre knew of his plans. He was juggling multiple factions that didn't hold high opinions of one another, and if one faction got too angry, it could quickly devolve into violence. Something that absolutely would cause irreparable damage. Pissing off Stannis' witch who seems to hold a great deal of influence over the King's men is not an ideal thing to do. If she wanted a dead baby, especially that of a wildling prince, Stannis would give her a dead baby.
Historical presidence does place Jon politically above Dany in terms of heir placement. But I think its also prudent to ask the question of if Jon would even be able to have kids after coming back from the dead. He will be alive solely through magic, and while that can do many things, risking the heir to the seven kingdoms being a monster? Jon is already othered in every aspect of his life. And we see how people react to things that are "other." It's absolutely terrifying.
Add to this the fact that the seven kingdoms are in such a state of disarray, especially with winter on its way, tens of thousands dead, more still dying, wars being raged left and right, stability is what will be valued over anything else. Especially considering the fact that the rest of the Seven Kingdoms don't know about the threat of the others. In fact, most of the Watch and the Baratheon men don't even know about the threat that's right around the corner from them.
With all that being said, the biggest threat to Dany politically won't be Jon-Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, northern bastard, sometimes refered to as a turn cloak and wildling in his own right. It will be Aegon. Whether he's the real Aegon, whether he's a blackfyre, or whether he's just a kid from fleabottom that happened to have the Valyrian look and made an easy pawn. The Dance, the Blackfyre Rebellions, even Robert's Rebellion; hell, even the War of the Five Kings, they all set the presidence that you don't really need a claim for people to follow you, you only need to look and act the part. A mummer's show if you will.
We know the Lannisters currently hold the throne with the help of the Tyrells. But the Tyrells also have plans of their own that are brewing. They won't be staying loyal to the lions. That is practically for certain since it's evident that after the death of Tywin, the nobles don't quite trust Cersei, with good reason. Lady Stoneheart is tearing through the Riverlands, Littlefinger has got his hands all up in Vale business, Dorne has its principality divided, and even the North has political upheaval since Lord Manderly is serving Lord Frey his sons in meat pies.
The show may have made a mess of interpretations for the characters, especially by fault of twisting and combining narratives or flat out getting rid of some and forming others out of thin air, but the political climate of the seven kingdoms does not serve Jon just the same as it does not serve Dany. At the very least, what Dany has over Jon is that Aegon is willing to treat with her. But if there is to be a dance, it will be between the silver haired dragons, not the one hiding in the snow.
In all fairness, I will concede that there will likely be speculation of legitimacy, especially if it becomes public knowledge that Robb legitimized Jon as a Stark before his death. The Seven Kingdoms won't care if Rhaegar and Lyanna were married, I dont know why they did that in the show. There's historical precedence that Valyrians take multiple spouses, but there's even more historical precedence among nobility that the name must live on. Preferably the blood too, but that isn't always the case either, although that's moreso for lesser houses. It won't matter if Jon is true born or bastard so long as Aegon is running around, since he would be preferable to both. But it will matter that Jon is legitimized as a Stark.
Note: Aegon has Tyrion as an advisor, who we know is a friend to Jon. Tyrion, upon finding out the truth of Jon's parentage, might encourage Aegon to offer the same thing Stannis once offered Jon. Winterfell. To be Warden of the North and subservient to the Iron Throne. Something that when made known will likely be a point of contention. Especially considering that anyone who is on Aegon's side who might not be favorable to the North would believe Jon to be a threat to Aegon.
Let me say that again, they would consider Jon a threat to Aegon. Not a threat to Dany, but to Aegon. Which will be important because he's also the closest to the Iron Throne right now, aside from Cersei, and already been convinced by Tyrion to attack first and treat with Dany later. Which will in it of itself cause problems with Dany possibly obtaining support to take the throne. Though we do know there are a couple fleets heading her direction hoping to gain her favor.
So if we're going to talk political situations, let's not forget the context in which their situations reside. Because it's a hell of a lot more complicated than woman vs bastard.
Jon Snow’s misogyny toward feminine women who brush their hair and wait for knights to rescue them vs. Daenerys being feminine and wanting a man to carry her off is another clear indication of how incompatible Jon is for her:
In her dream they had been man and wife, simple folk who lived a simple life in a tall stone house with a red door. — ADWD, Daenerys II
Starlight and seafoam, Dany thought, a wisp of silk that leaves my left breast bare for Daario’s delight. Oh, and flowers for my hair. —Daenerys IV, ADWD
In my Seven Kingdoms, knights go on quests to prove themselves worthy of the maiden that they love. — ADWD, Daenerys IV
How beautiful, the queen tried to tell herself, but inside her was some foolish little girl who could not help but look about for Daario. If he loved you, he would come and carry you off at swordpoint, as Rhaegar carried off his northern girl, the girl in her insisted, but the queen knew that was folly. — ADWD, Daenerys VII
Another proof that Snowstorm shippers just see Daenerys as a self insert and don’t really know, like, or enjoy her character. Daenerys is NOT a warrior woman. She’s never had the privilege of being militarily or martially trained or given weapons to duel with. She likes brushing her hair and keeping it clean and bathing, things Jon seems to take issue with women doing.
Daenerys is willowy and tiny in stature as well, not hardened and tall. Yet more proof she isn’t Jon’s type and is exactly the type of feminine woman Jon reviles and is repeatedly derisive and misogynistic toward in his POV.
And I hate Jon’s line because Daenerys is a vulnerable and young orphan girl who suffered severe abuse from her brother. She wants to be rescued and protected. I don’t care about what Jon wants, except when it conflicts with what Daenerys wants.
This is an actually pretty good point to consider. Has there actually been some evidence that Jon would "make an exception" towards Dany or otherwise value ttis aspect to her for jonerys/snowstorm fans?

"The division between the two families [the Woodvilles and the Nevilles] and their allies can be seen in the royal charters that they witnessed. Warwick, Rivers and Archbishop Neville of York, while serving as chancellor and afterwards, were fairly constant witnesses to royal charters and consequently often appeared together. This was not, however, the case for other family members and friends. From 1466 to 1469, if Scales or Woodville associates like Sir John Fogge, John Lord Audley or Humphrey Lord Stafford of Southwick witnessed royal charters, then members of the Neville group, such as John Neville, earl of Northumberland, or John Lord Wenlock would not, and vice versa. Discounting the ubiquitous Warwick, Rivers and Archbishop Neville, of the twenty-four charters issued between February 1466 and June 1469, twelve were witnessed by men associated with the Woodvilles, eight by men associated with the Nevilles and two were witnessed by no member of either group beyond the two earls at their heads and the archbishop; only two charters, both from 1466, featured associates of both families.
Such striking segregation of witnesses suggests that something more than simple convenience or availability was at play. [...] The evidence of these witness lists does show the extent of the split between the two groups from early in Edward's [first] reign and of the need for political society to work with that cleavage in the heart of the Yorkist regime."
— Theron Westervelt, "Royal charter witness lists and the politics of the reign of Edward IV"
*This is specifically applicable for Edward IV's first reign; in contrast, the charters in his second reign displayed a great deal of aristocratic and domestic unity and cohesion.
#the woodvilles#edward iv#wars of the roses#richard neville 16th earl of warwick#my post#elizabeth woodville#Obviously I hate the idea of Elizabeth and her family being seen as a social-climbing invasive species who banished the old nobility and#drove Warwick/Richard into rebellion and dominated the government and controlled the king and were responsible for Everything Wrong Ever#but I also dislike the 'revisionist' idea that they were ACTUALLY just passive and powerless bystanders or pawns who kept to their#social “place” (whatever the fuck that means). Frankly speaking this is more of a diminishment than a realistic defense.#the 'Queen's kin' (as they were known at the time) were very visible at court and demonstrably influential and prominent in politics#and as this shows there DOES seem to have been a genuine division/conflict between them and the Nevilles during Edward's first reign#(which DID directly lead to the decline of Neville dominance in England though the maintained honored positions and influence of their own)#Especially since Edward's second reign was entirely void of any such divisions - instead the nobility were united and focused on the King#even Clarence and Gloucester's long and disruptive quarrel over the Warwick inheritance never visibly left its mark on charters#so the Woodville/Neville divide from the 1460s must have been very sharp and divisive indeed#And yes it's safe to say that Elizabeth Woodville was probably involved: whether in her own right or via support of her family - or both -#it's illogical to argue that she was uninvolved (even the supportive Croyland Chronicle writes that Edward was “too greatly influenced”#by her; she and her family worked together across the 1470s; she was the de-facto head in 1483; etc)#Enhanced by the fact that Elizabeth was the first Englishwoman to be crowned queen - meaning that the involvement of her#homeborn family marked the beginning of “a new and largely unprecedented factor in the English power structure” (Laynesmith)#This should be kept in mind when it comes to analyzing contemporary views of them and of Elizabeth's own anomalous position#HOWEVER understanding the complexity of the situation at hand doesn't mean accepting the traditionally vilified depiction of the Woodvilles#Warwick and the Nevilles remained empowered and (at least outwardly) respected by the regime#Whether he was driven by disagreements over foreign policy or jealousy or ambition - the decision to rebel was very much his own#Claiming that the Woodvilles were primarily responsible is ridiculous (and most of the nobility continued to support Edward regardless)#There's also the fact that Warwick took what was probably a basic factional divide and turned it into a misogynistic and classist narrative#of a transgressive “bad” woman who became queen through witchcraft and aggrandized a family of social-climbing “lessers” who replaced#the inherently more deserving old nobility and corrupted the realm - later revived and intensified by Richard III a decade later#ie: We can recognize their genuine division AND question the (false/unfair) problematic narrative around the Woodvilles. Nuance is the key.

i feel rly sad and conflicted abt one of my best friends on earth but idk who to ask for advice bc i usually would have consulted her in this situation lmao
#shes cool and i dont want to lose her and i know Logically i love her but atm i feel so strange towards her#and idk what to do abt it bc i know in the past ive like...over-communicated a lot and over the last few yrs ive been trying to not do that#bc thats an anxious impulse i think .so like . self control#AND IMPORTANTLY . i may actually be the problem here ?? ok again i love her i dont want to lose her etc but basically ive noticed a pattern#which is that whenever she gets a bf/a man (even fwb) in her life she basically stops talking to me and the limited interactions we do have#become abt him. and while i support her it is acc too much. like we barely talked while she was w her ex bf until he became abusive and#then we talked a lottt like all our convos understandably were abt him . and then when they broke up we kept hanging out so i didnt rly see#the pattern there but still she seemed to centre men a lot in her life like sbe was excited to not date and find herself and then#immediately afterwards started seeing this other guy with whom shes basically in a relationship now#hes nice and all but like . HES ALL SHE TALKS ABT . actually we barely talk atp but when we do its abt him#she sends me reels sometimes but its all abt being jealous abt him etc . and shes bi but she said she doesnt like the idea of dating women#bc theyre scary . and i thought she was kidding in the ohhh women r so beautiful that theyre intimidating way but no she was being entirely#fr . she explained jts bc she was bullied by a girl in the past but like...bro ur ex bf literally abused you like surely you see men are#capable of just as much harm? but obvs who she dates is her own choice . but anyway she has consistently made plans w me then cancelled the#like an hr before . or asked to call me and then proceeded to not do so . when i ask her to meet/call its the same she just doesnt respond#or she cancels ? and while i understand anxiety sucks it feels SO WEIRD STILL . maybe im the problem slightly too bc ik i have no right to#feel this way but it rubs me the wrong way that ik she has so much time to spend w him/calls him all the time despite meeting him just a fe#months ago whereas i just have to like ...be ok w not actually having talked to her for a long time#its gotten to the point where when she says do you wanna meet/call i automatically respond yes and then just assume it doesnt happen . like#there have been several times over the past few months i double booked plans over when we were supposed to call/meet bc i was sure she#wouldnt show up and ive been right each time#like she sends me texts that she misses me or im her best friend etc etc occasionally and then acts rly . contrary to that ?#ive talked to her abt the issue w cancelling on me twice btw. when i was still dating the situationship person she would get sooo mad at#them for not respecting my time and shed tell me i deserve better etc etc and then like . she doesnt seem to respect my time at all#anyway she said she understand and she admits to like...being flaky etc but does nothing abt it#and its not like i can tell her to stop caring so much abt men bc we sorta had convos like that b4 she got This involved w this guy#and apparently it did nothing and the last thing i want is to police her relationships or get in her way#its just AUSHD AUGH#anyway i rly miss her it just doesnt feel the same at all anymore

Honestly another thing that annoys me about Gabe's death in the show is that the downplayed nature of the abuse makes his fate, for lack of a better word, inappropriate. Gabe being an explicitly physically and emotionally abusive bastard was what warranted him dying in the book. Yes, he is still financially abusive in the show, but he's more of a pathetic slob than a monster. Contemptable, sure, but hardly worth killing. At best, his death is a tasteless gag. At worst, it's disproportionate retribution.
fr like. after the first episode i was like well what the hell are they gonna do at the end of the series? from episode one it was always gonna be either don’t kill off the loser and commit to erasing a woman and her child’s story of surviving abuse, or do kill off the loser and have it be a completely unjustified killing (not only bc of the reduced abuse but bc they outright state sally divorced him!! book sally had no other alternative divorce financially was Not on the table!!). he might have been killed by his own hand in-universe, but the writers made that call, purposefully, to condemn his actions so severely they warrant death. i’ve seen people who don’t even believe his death was warranted in the books just out of the principle all killing is wrong—my opinion is firstly it’s fiction but secondly it sends a pretty clear fucking message that you don’t get to be an abusive fuck and walk away scott-free. self-defense and justice have a right to serve consequences, and sometimes those consequences are your wife with righteous blood lust and a desperate need for education funds

series 3 is so frustrating because there is like a shining core of pure diamond underneath the problems . like conceptually it rocks so incredibly hard. but the problems
#dr who#i am being so honest when i say ten should have gotten on his knees and begged for simm!master's life#they should have framed the bit between him and martha's mom so different#like yes it is 10000% in character that the doctor with his bleeding heart and loneliness wouldn't want to kill him#even after everything that happened. because he's the only person he has left. 'i forgive you' was PERFECT.#but literally anyone else that suffered from what the master did. Deserves to rip him to shreds. so very obviously#and like i know.i KNOW that i am watching the 'funny immortal alien saves people through time and space' show#but i actually despise the doctor being framed as like an all powerful savior. or treated like one. even for a little bit. is Annoying#the first part of the series 3 finale having martha be humanity's last hope was SO GOOD bc it like kind of set her up as like#having to grapple with all that responsibility and attention like the doctor does. everyone's lives are in her hands. so crunchy#but when it like slides into 'everyone pls believe in our specialest boy in the world The Doctor <3' it just. falls flat#i feel like with a couple tweaks here and there in the execution and like actual fuckinnn people of color in the writer's room#series 3 would be PEAK media. but as it is it's just. falling short.#i do really appreciate martha deciding to leave ten on her own though. first of all. qpp down. second of all#she's realized that she can't keep traveling with him. bc (as i mentioned) hes someone who simultaneously needs saving#and refuses to be saved in the ways that matter. Yes im fucking ignoring the unrequited romance angle i think#it does a gigantic disservice to martha's character if u boil her down to that. fight me i dont care if that was the authorial intent#martha in the end is too kind to ten and ten keeps making her watch his meandering path of self destruction. toxic doomed qprism to ME.#anyway fuck. idk man series 2 consensus was that im dead inside and series 3 consensus is that the version i have of it in my head is peak#series 2 is better but i think because of my ten martha insanity i actually enjoyed watching series 3 more than series 2.#even if i got mad at it more than any other season. i think something is wrong with me. um. lmao#ten and martha#10 era

Isaac didn't comment on anything Wally was telling him. He had pulled some of this from his file after all. Graduating top of his class, the divine intervention from the late Agent Hurst. His question about becoming an agent seemed rhetorical, though it did invite him to answer. But, before he had a chance, Wally continued. "From analyst to field agent." That doesn't just happen. Isaac just found it so interesting how easily that agent maneuvered through the agency and set Wally up to exceed expectations. Isaac had seen that too. All supervisors had nothing but good things to say about his work. Even the performance reports from Karina were filled with compliments. "You've been at this for a long while, maybe at first you owed him. But he kicked the bucket, a while ago." Why was he still there?
Leave it to his timing, of course. Isaac's question being answered. His head tilted curiously at how adamant he was to not go against her. It did sound like loyalty, something that was burning on his tongue to question. "Your niece?" What the hell was he...? Ah. "She has your niece." Not holding her somewhere, he'd assume. Isaac figured Wally wouldn't be standing here talking to him if that were the case. If his initial reaction was any indicator, chances were, he'd be tearing the place apart. Isaac wouldn't blame him, he'd do the same for his own niece. "If your niece is at risk, why wouldn't her parents deserve to know? It's not about whether I blab or not, but if we're going to work against Karina, I don't feel comfortable leaving your niece on the playing board." His frown was quick to make an appearance when Wally poked his chest, he wasn't serious. "You've made your point. That's why I'm here gathering everything before we go in."
Medically induced coma, therapy, and all the other things he mentioned. Karina's vendetta against him had to be something deep, because, even from his limited viewpoint, it was clear she was trying to wipe him off. Laser focused on destroying him. "That does sound pretty damning. Canary's? I won't ask if all the information I need is in front of me. Trust me, I'm not interested in involving more people in this. Everything you say seems to end in multiple injuries. I have to say I'm impressed you're not dead yet." Did Isaac struggle just a bit to say that? Yes, maybe. Just when he thought they were doing better, he seemed to say something to irk him once again. His eye roll was impossible to hide. Ask someone to not get caught, and in the same breath tell him to not lurk. Make it make sense. "I won't lurk if I don't have to, but don't kill me if I still lurk next time I see you." With that, he adjusted his jacket before making his way out the same way they had come in.

The walk back to his car should've helped Isaac cool down and find his footing again. Sure, Wally was irritating him to his very core, but he still deserved the help. Yet, Isaac couldn't look past the insane amount of frustration he felt dealing with him. Once he was back in his car, he dialed the person who could give him some clarity. The person he trusted with advice and the wake up calls. His brother. "I don't even know if I'm calling for you to talk me out of this or to tell me to keep this case. I just can't do this. Is it crazy to think that I rather be chasing some sick criminal around the globe over being here? And no, Louisiana is not the reason I'm losing it." Though it also didn't help.
"Since I was twenty two." That was a long ass time ago. "I have an idea but nothing concrete that I can work with." He hummed as he confirmed without saying much on the matter. "He took me out of Quantico the day before graduation. Graduated top of my class. Star pupil and the like." It was almost like he was watching it replay in his mind as he talked about it. "Recruited me for a special Black Ops division. Needed someone like me and my skills. I wasn't supposed to be an agent you know that?" He didn't let Issac i interrupt. "I was an analyst. Desk duty bound. Except I had exceptional field skills. Part of the Christmas project. You guys know all about it. Your offices handed out those standardized tests to kids. Being smart didn't need to give such a sentence as this."
"I can't. Even if I wanted to. I can't and will not go against her. Not for loyalty but I can't risk my niece. Hence," he gestured around. "All this cloak and dagger bullshit. Her parents don't know so don't you go blab it." He got down from his counter and sighed. Poking his chest, "So if you got a plan. It can't be half cocked."
Tumblr media
He hummed. "Madrid was the case I was in a medically induced coma for a month. Therapy was assigned too. My cognitive skills were not harmed luckily as I heard all of them say. But that was the only time she had a neutral stance. I can't prove she did anything to me but there's one I can. Canarys mission. You can't ask me how I got this." Another person he wanted to keep out of this was his girlfriend. Who back then was just a friend or an annoyance if you asked her back then. "Sustained multiple injuries then too. But if you're really here to help then," he shrugged and nodded. "Dont get caught." He knew he'd see this guy again. "Do yourself a favor don't lurk in the shadows I hate that.'

Y'know maybe it's too early to think about this but if we do get another smash game I really want Link to be wearing the archaic tunic with his hair down and have a completely new moveset based on the arm. And for this Zelda to also be wearing the archaic clothes and fight with her light/time powers like she deserves. And this Ganondorf to also have a new moveset that isn't Cap'n Falcon 2 Electric Boogaloo. And for the love of god add Impa to the game already.

Sorry but Le'garde as Clear Sky fucks so much
A pale grey cat in the catacombs with a single minded determination for godhood no matter the cost. And it would be commendable if he also wasn't a war criminal and a huge dick about it.
Clear Sky just going into the Eldritch horror hole to become a god is just so in character, trying to become the god of the "Open Sky" Vast from TMA style, or maybe the God of the Clans, since he embodies the clans pretty well, single minded determination and bravery while also being a complete asshole.
Also it sorta works out but not really, which is also very Clear Sky to me
oh man that DOES fuck really hard. also ties the themes of F&H and BB!DOTC really damn well
we're just making a warrior cats funger AU now. and i am 10000% on board
