I have personal beef with the concept of fictional characters naming their children after any random dead relative they can think of (due to a very specific book series I can think of). Depending on the context it can be cute, I guess, but once you’ve got every character doing it becomes just jarring or forced.
To turn this into blorbo posting, cause its the only thing I know how to do, I think our Sanji would 100% name a child of his after his mom, Sora. That’s the kind of relationship they had, and the kind of sentimental guy he is. But I can’t see Zoro naming a kid after Kuina. Instead, I’m here to pitch that if allowed to, Zoro would name a child of his Kenzo but intentionally butcher the spelling so that ‘Ken’ is spelled with ‘剣’ for ‘sword’ and Zo is ‘三’ for ‘three’, so that for the rest of his life he can look at his first born child and think ah yes my beautiful creation. Santoryuu.
#alternatively he’d pulled a Gol D. Roger and be like yo look at my daughter. Wado.#to which at least one member of the crew would try to strangle him on the kid’s behalf#one piece#roronoa zoro#blackleg sanji#my post

Any Shadow and Tails hcs?
Sorry this took a minute, anon! I had written up several headcanons a few days ago and then my browser crashed and I lost everything I wrote ^^;; it took a minute to find the motivation to write them up again.
I wasn't sure if you only wanted headcanons of Shadow and Tails in relation to each other, or if you wanted separate ones for them as well, so I tried to think of a little of both!
Shadow:
Though black coffee is his drink of choice, Shadow also enjoys a cup of rooibos tea when he's looking for something a little more relaxing. Decaffeinated coffee doesn't quite do it for him. And he only drinks his coffee hot. He judges Rouge whenever she gets an iced latte.
He's very good at painting nails, but only Rouge knows this. She's the only one he'll offer to do it for - and it's always in exchange for something like intel or tech. He learned how for the bad days where Maria couldn't keep her hands steady and got frustrated. He'd paint her nails so she could feel pretty.
Shadow likes Barry Manilow (this is mostly a joke xD …mostly). But seriously, I do think he enjoys listening to a wide variety of music though. He was limited to what tapes they had on the ARK, a lot of it whatever the scientists and Maria liked listening to, so he enjoys experiencing different genres of music just to get a feel for them. He doesn’t necessarily like all music, but there’s something to be said for just experiencing it, even if he doesn’t like it. He’s also intrigued by live music, especially since Maria was just starting to learn to play guitar when her parents sent one up with the supply ship for her twelfth birthday. That was the only experience he'd had with live music until arriving on Mobius.
Tails:
Though he drinks coffee, he does it out of pure necessity. His taste buds are still a kid's, after all, so he loads up his caffeine with sugar, flavored syrups, whipped cream, and marshmallows. When he discovers cold brew, he finds that a bit more palatable since the beans aren't made as bitter by the heat when roasting them, but he still needs flavors and cream. He actually prefers energy drinks if he’s looking for a caffeine boost, but coffee makes him feel more grown-up. Yes, even with the marshmallows.
He doesn’t read as much fiction as Sonic, but he does have a pretty large collection of comic books and graphic novels. There are some series he’s followed since he was little, which offer a bit of stability/familiarity for him when not much was a constant in his life aside from Sonic and fighting Eggman.
When he was little, Tails begged Sonic to teach him guitar. He was quickly embarrassed though, because it wasn’t something he took to naturally. They made a little progress, but as he got older he stopped asking for lessons as much, so Sonic assumed he lost interest. But sometimes when he knows Sonic’s not going to be around for a while, Tails will take out the guitar and practice by himself, though he never tells Sonic about it.
Shadow and Tails:
Shadow doesn’t actually have beef with Tails. When Team Dark came across Team Sonic in Sonic Heroes for the first time since the events of SA2 and started fighting, Shadow identified Tails as their aerial support and would save his teammates from falling into the jungle river. He also picked up on the fact that Sonic’s battle tactics focused primarily on protecting his team, and that he was holding back from full-out attacking Shadow. Part of him wanted to see that blue hedgehog’s full potential, though he couldn't really pinpoint why at the time. So it was a strategic decision to take out Tails first by kicking him in the head, nothing personal.
Scratch that, Shadow does have beef with him whenever he catches Tails drinking cold brew (this is also a joke lol, if he didn't fight the kid over putting marshmallows in his coffee, he's not gonna fight him over cold brew).
Tails has better accuracy than Shadow with a firearm, but Shadow is a quicker draw and has a faster reaction time. They both prefer to use non-lethal ammunition as a method of stunning opponents, though the Tornado and Cyclone do have lethal weaponry systems, however, since Tails often needs as much firepower as possible when going against Eggman’s air fleet. But those are just robots, so it's okay!
Tails is one of the few people who knows Shadow’s “birthday,” or at least, his “creation day.” He learned it by going through G.U.N.’s files when Amy asked him to, because she really, really wanted to know when his birthday was. He only looked it up after she promised not to throw a party for Shadow (she wasn’t going to, Tails, she just wanted to get him a card and a little gift!). Rouge is the only other person who knows his birthday - also from G.U.N.’s files - but she knows Shadow doesn’t want to be fussed over too much, so keeps everything low-key as well.
I think that's enough for now! I feel like I'm not as good at writing up headcanons independently as I am incorporating them into fics, but I hope this was along the lines of what you were looking for, anon! If you have more specifics hcs you're curious about, let me know :)
Thank you for the ask!
#skimming asks#miles tails prower#shadow the hedgehog#sonic headcanons#I really like a lot of details that came from TMoSTH - like Shadow agreeing to Hot Honey concert and Tails drinking coffee with marshmallow#so definitely incorporated those elements into my headcanons for them#the “beef” thing is also adapted for the games since every example of Shadow attacking Tails is from other media that I don't use in my fic#at least not my main picket fence timeline fics#prime and movie fics are their own thing#long post

Dumbass thought but shizun (sy) x Tony the tiger
hmm, this raises some interesting questions that I need answered anon.
why are Shen Yuan and Tony the Tiger theoretically in the same universe in order to pursue a romantic relationship with one another? what would draw them to each other? if Shen Yuan is a furry in this scenario, would that make Tony the Tiger a fleshie?
if this is another transmigration situation, who would Shen Yuan transmigrate into? An unsuspecting extra or actor that appeared in the commercials? The bowl of cereal? or would he also be a weirdly hot anthropomorphic animal?
maybe in this universe, Shen Yuan dies while furiously cranking it to rule34 Kelloggs cereal ads and transmigrates into a furry's paradise. if so, even though I love the depiction of crane!shen yuan, I think I would have to go with the fandom depiction of a housecat lmao
then the ship would turn into twink housecat shen yuan x buff hunk tiger tony. both would be mammals and roughly the same species, so I think it could work out.
"but Firefly!" you may say, "shen yuan is attracted to pathetic pretty men! he wouldn't go for the beef cake, successful actor, and married father of two!" (and yes, Tony the Tiger is canonically married with two children, I had to deep dive into the lore of this fictional hunky tiger in order to make this post just for you anon ♡)
but my solution to this is to make Tony the Tiger go through a messy divorce. think about it, a divorcee single father trying his best to raise his kids, fighting the court system to get full custody, whilst juggling his responsibilities as a third generation actor and as an athletics coach? dude would have to have a mental breakdown eventually
maybe during a bad set of takes for a new commercial, Tony would be hiding away in a supply closet crying, the pressures of his home and professional life becoming too much for him to bare at the moment, when an extra also into the same supply to also have a mental breakdown.
that extra being shen yuan obvi, probably freaking out over being a furry version of himself. but of course, he has to help this poor guy before he can deal with his own shit! he isn't heartless after all!
his eyes would be so kind, his voice so soft, and his ass so fat that Tony the Tiger would be all over that catboy
and shen yuan would come to the slow realization that this attractive tiger man was actually the living breathing version of the 2d animated tiger he used to jerk off to hahahahaha
#i feel like this idea is biggest-guadiest-patronuses coded lmao#crack idea but i am anything but sober#tony the tiger#svsss#shen qingqiu#shen yuan#thanks anon!#this was fucking hilarious to think about#maybe he got divorced from the grinch lmao#but that might make it a little too cracky lol

obligatory disclaimer to all the "its just mc eggs its not that deep" people that this is about characters. we are allowed to post character analysis, even ones that arent positive, about fictional characters no matter what medium theyre from. this is 10000% about the characters, not the admins and there are moments i may not know about since i cant watch every pov but heres my thoughts on the sunny/leo "beef"
which it feels wrong, at this point, to even call it beef when its mostly one sided on leo's part and the adults are failing both sunny and leo
does leo have the right to be wary about the new eggs? 100%, absolutely
does that excuse her recent treatment of sunny? no
is leo to blame for her behavior? well, no, she's a child
do i think q!foolish and q!tubbo are good fathers? yes
did they both drop the ball in regards to this situation and should have handled it better? yes, but that doesnt mean its not too late now
again, i dont fault leo for being distrustful and cautious of the new eggs, its more than reasonable given what shes gone through. im glad she's warmed up to pepito and i think it's a good choice on foolish's part to not force her to interact with anyone she doesnt like while still encouraging her to try. that being said, i think he should say something to leo about how she has recently been treating sunny because it is quickly getting to the point where it is bullying, not "beef"
to be fair, maybe he hasnt seen [in character/roleplay] the extent to which she has treated sunny, and obviously none of the parents are aware of the baby fight club, but even then, someone should say something to leo if they see behavior similar to how leo treated sunny after the fight [although i believe foolish and roier are two of the only people she will actually listen to /neu] with that being said, i dont think foolish takes it very seriously and at the end day has a rather "well what can you do" type of mentality about it.
we know that leo is stubborn and can be a little hard headed, which is one of the reasons why i personally love her, but its been toeing the line in regards to sunny and i feel as though she crossed it during the baby fight club. sunny has been trying to take leo's feelings into consideration [among other eggs, such as tallulah, who excuse it as distrust of the new eggs despite being warm/neutral to both em and pepito while being harsher to sunny].
the fact that the fight ended and sunny was trying to leave when leo blocked the exit and continued to hit sunny shows that her feelings towards sunny are more than just apprehension. even ramon, leo's triplet, felt the need to step to in and separate them out of concern for sunny's well being.
i can also see the nuance of leo's behavior: its the first time where she has disliked someone and been forced to be in close vicinity/interact with them, and no one has taught her that this sort of behavior isnt ok so how is she supposed to know better?
its not an excuse by any means, but it doesnt make it any less bullying than it is. this is where the adults are failing not just sunny [by being bystanders] but theyre failing leo, too.
and sure, disagreements and fights between the eggs is interesting.. when it comes from both parties but when you have one egg--one child--who doesnt want to be around another egg child in consideration of their feelings while the other egg child vandalizes their things and hits them to the point of almost being downed--that's not a disagreement. thats bullying.
does leo have to like sunny? no
do i think that they have more in common and similar feelings of loneliness that they both dont realize, which could make way for a friendship? yes
would i mind if leo never warms up to sunny? no
its realistic. sometimes kids just.. dont get along and thats ok, its good to teach children that we arent going to get along with everyone or even like them [and not everyone is going to like us and we shouldnt try to force them to], but its also important to teach children that not liking somebody doesnt make it okay to treat them poorly or bully them.
in fact, this would be a really good situation in which both leo and sunny can learn the aforementioned, especially since their fathers are good friends that enjoy one another's company so i dont see them stopping hangouts anytime soon so leo and sunny will hopefully learn to, at the very least, be civil with one another. i hope this is the direction the story goes because a bully arc is one of the last things i personally want to watch
i understand its hard, especially when their first languages are not one that they share, but thats what the qsmp is all about, isnt it? coming together in spite of language barriers
im hoping the sunny/leo situation takes a turn for the better, even if it takes time to get to a point where they are mostly indifferent to one another w/o excessive antagonizing
with all that said, i will always have faith in the admins to give us their best, even if the outcome isnt what we wanted or expected

JACOBIN FICTION CONVENTION MEETING 37: CHÉVALIER (2022)
1. The Introduction
Well, hello there, Citizens! I’m back and I hope you missed me! Sorry for the multiple delays and all, but luckily I’m back at it now!!!
Okay, so this movie has been on my radar ever since it got announced. A story featuring a real Black man who lived during Frev? Sign me up! This has excellent potential and also, to my knowledge, at least a partially Black crew so we get more representation of marginalized groups in crews and on the screen!
At least, those were my thoughts before I actually watched the movie, but we’ll get to whether it was a good media piece later.
I found the movie on Russian language streaming websites, but it’s available on Amazon Prime and Disney Plus for those who would like to watch the original English version.
This review is dedicated to @idieonthishill , @vivelareine (who has a review that unpacks the movie from a historical pov and is welcome to add to the review 😊), @theravenclawrevolutionary , @sansculottides , @citizentaleo , @saintjustitude , @avergehistoryenjoyer , @lanterne and @jenxiez .
Okay, let the Jacobin Fiction Convention reopen!
2. The Summary
The movie tells a story of a real man, Joseph Bologne aka Chévalier de Saint-Georges. Recognized son of a white French nobleman and an enslaved black woman, Bologne must navigate the cutthroat world of the Parisian high society, dealing with racism and trying to reconcile his “white” upbringing with his African roots.
Sounds interesting, but let’s see how the premise was handled.
3. The Story
The Introduction scene - a musical duel between Mozart and Bologne, was actually quite good in my opinion. So were the other beginning scenes of kid Bologne growing up in France as an aristocrat and being bullied by his white peers, plus his father telling him not to let society break him.
These scenes establish quite well that Bologne has to carve out a place for himself among French nobility and make a lot of effort to get even a hint of acceptance. Sounds like a nice setup, right? Well, unfortunately at times Bologne in the movie doesn’t seem to have much agency at all.
For example, his title is granted to him by Marie-Antoinette basically on a whim, handed to him on a silver platter because the queen was impressed by his fencing skills, which in my opinion isn’t enough to show a character who has to work hard to be accepted. I think it would’ve been better if Bologne had at least several impressive fencing performances to prove himself and show more of his skills.
On the flip side, there are characters who have a bit too much agency. For example, in the story it’s Marie Antoinette who is calling all the shots and giving all the orders in France, even though Louis is alive and well. It’s definitely jarring to see how people say “by the order of the queen” when the king should be the one mentioned instead.
I didn’t care much for the love triangle storyline, but it’s my own personal preference and also the fact that it, like many parts of the story, isn’t all that nuanced. So yeah, very bland and boring.
Yes, Citizens, unfortunately nuance has officially left the chat, especially when it comes to the main character. See, at first Bologne doesn’t give a shit about poverty and famine plaguing France. He is enjoying his cushy life and his friendship with the queen of France instead. However, you know what makes him join the Jacobins? A fucking PERSONAL FALLING OUT WITH THE QUEEN. Not promises of abolishing slavery or granting rights to black people, not his own ideals… Just fucking pettiness!
It would have been much better if he didn’t have a falling out with Marie Antoinette and signed up for fighting with the Republicans because he genuinely wanted to do what was right, not due to personal beef. Especially since that was why he joined Frev in reality – the real Bologne made a choice to do the right thing simply because it seemed to be the right thing to him. Not out of petty desire to get back at the queen.
Also, the conflict between Bologne and his mother about how he is acting “too white”… eeeehh. To me it felt very anachronistic but maybe I’m wrong and there is more nuance missing because EVERYONE at court had to carry themselves in a certain way to make it. If you couldn’t do it, you were socially FUCKED. Besides, Nanon (the mother) and her friends crack really mean jokes about Bologne being “too white”, which is… well, an INTERESTING way to endear him to his mother’s culture…
The movie is juggling admittedly anachronistic theme about black culture, anti-slavery message, court drama and love triangles… and the juggling is done quite sloppily too, I’m afraid.
Also, just to illustrate how inaccurate this movie is, the events of 1789 are shown happening in 1776 for some reason, which shows just how much the creators didn’t give a shit about research.
Moving on.
4. The Characters
I really didn’t care for Bologne to be honest. He shows selfishness and pettiness, doesn’t have enough agency in the story and is also very inconsistent. After falling out with Marie Antoinette, he claims he defended her, which… he didn’t! At least it’s not shown in the movie! What the fuck happened to “show, don’t tell”?! Also, his incredible talents aren’t really shown in the way they could’ve been, more on that in the soundtrack section. A missed opportunity, really.
Nanon, Bologne’s mother, is a real embodiment of the themes of slavery and trauma present in the the movie. She merely exists to push him to embrace his African heritage and to remind him that he will never be truly accepted by other nobles. I honestly wish there was more to her character, because she ends up being little more than a walking theme embodiment.
Marie Antoinette here is a capricious, fair weather friend. She CLAIMS to support Bologne, but does it in indirect ways out of fear that nobles wouldn’t appreciate her openly backing a black man. Even though she is an absolute monarch so she can afford to show her support more openly. Actions speak louder than words, and she is clearly not a true ally of Bologne.
Marie Joséphe, Bologne’s love interest, is a woman trapped in a miserable marriage and yearning to act in Bologne’s operas. While I do sympathize with her, I believe that there really isn’t much depth to her either. We just don’t learn much about her. This is becoming a common theme…
Also, just as a side note while we’re talking about characters, many white characters in the movie are shown as mere flat caricatures. I can understand why, but, again, this doesn’t show nuance as in reality, while Bologne definitely had to deal with racism, he was not only accepted, but adored as a celebrity, but we don’t see that reflected in the attitudes of other people towards him. Because apparently the brains of the spectators will implode when they see nuance in a modern movie, it seems.
5. The Setting
Personally I wasn’t that impressed by the costumes or the settings. I’ve seen much better ones. Nothing bad, but nothing outstanding either.
6. The Soundtrack
Where the fuck is actual music from that time period?! Where is music by Bologne himself?! It’s a fucking missed opportunity and I don’t know what prevented the creators from including the music written by the MAIN DAMN CHARACTER into a biopic about him. A shame that they missed yet another opportunity.
7. The Conclusion
Honestly… I can’t say much when it comes to what this movie is fucking about. The story is bland, lacks nuance, doesn’t follow basic historical facts and is pulled in a million directions.
For a movie about an obscure figure, it doesn’t show much of the things Bologne was known for and at times even strips him of agency. We need to have better POC representation, because this is just not it.
The movie is mediocre, bland and forgettable. Don’t waste your time on it.
With that, I declare today’s meeting of the Jacobin Fiction Convention to be over. Thank you for your patience and support during this hiatus of mine.
Stay tuned and stay safe!
Love,
Citizen Green Pixel

Amity is the absolute world to me, and it's funny cause she doesn't feel sorry at all for being an all-watching, consuming insect monster (I mean, maybe she's sorry for herself, but non-apologetic as a whole). like she has a beef with a friend of mine's vampire character - they run vampire speak easy's and try to move the population around and facilitate underground human-cattle esc blood networks and keep the vamps going to avoid getting noticed by the big dogs like Hellsing.
But Amity's the bitch that keeps getting them busted - and they call her a traitor - she has to live off of the living just like them, so why side with them. And she finds it funny, stupid, stupid vampires to imagine there's some fictional familial network connecting them. This isn't how life works, nor how the world works. SHE'D eat them all alive if not for the fact that their dead flesh is useless to her swarm. Her loyalty is only to hers and her own
Peace was never on the table for Lady Pestilence. She's a corrupter, a rotter, her voice infiltrating and infesting far before you notice how endemic she's become. How many of their men became HER men? Do they want to tally and count? Games like these feed into the Sadism inherent in the Jorōgumo. She's just a little wicked
(ALSO FUN HISTORIC CONTEXT, the word Pestilence started seeing use in Old English and is a borrowed word from Old French, and it essentially translates to 'The morally corrupting/rotting/general moral entropy' because Medieval Europeans viewed the plague as a moral failing (because, for much of human history, morality and disease and faith were allllll interconnected and viewed as one singular thing) )
As a tangent, though, how this impacts Amity and the dynamics she forms with her informants is interesting - especially around the artificial vampire issue. Cause, Amity, as wicked and scrupleless a minx as she is, even with her heart at its coldest, does hold fondness and respect for her informants, and while manipulative, she does want to honour her end of the agreement made with them in exchange for their information. It's not her desire to treat them as tools or disposable, though ultimately, her actions do cross this boundary frequently.
But the reason for this, honestly? Lies in the fact Amity KNOWS an unfortunate truth, a LOT of her informants from these underground clubs and rings aren't there by choice - they're not the rich kid lovers or the Luke and Jan sort.
They're more like Helena. They are people in positions without power who had choices made for them without their consent by people abusing power over them, and currently, they're just as much trapped as the people they have to feed off. And, while Amity leverages their desire to get out for information she can't always gather herself, she doesn't WANT to abandon them to their fate or let their service be returned with betrayal and murder. Think of what that would do for her reputation! (she says, while truthfully caring less about that fact than about the memory in the back of her mind of these people relying on her so rawly, presenting their wounds at her feet and asking 'help me,')
So, when it comes to the matter of 'dealing' with them, Amity leans more on the side of hope and dreams and personally champions ( read as. pushes) Integra and the Round Table to probe further into the chips and learn to reverse them - if only because she wants to see a lot of her informants be able to be unshackled from their ailment (or at least reduced to a human condition to face punishment). Which Integra bawks at the logistics of, but Amity compares it to victims trapped under rubble by a tsunami.
YES, their condition is worsening, and they're losing humanity. Yes, it would be labour intensive to free them to the point some could argue it's a waste of time because 'what if they're too far gone, they'll die eventually anyways, ' but she argues any efforts to save and salvage souls are worthwhile, if only to honour the hope Hellsing gave them.
This being said, Amity KNOWS the likelihood of being able to reverse, or at least disable, the artificial effects is next to nil. After all, how many can boast that they've raised the dead? But Amity's doesn't want to leave that book, or it's potential untracked. But either way, dead or alive, she won't lose sleep. She's served her role*.
(*Amity is entirely ethically on board with putting them down if there's no other choice, and she knows that it's just the hope- if they CAN do something and make them half-artificial-vamp-half-human like Mina, or just fully revert 'em, that's the dream but if not she doesn't think it hurts to try.)

Why is aging up characters bad? What if I wanna see my faves grow together and develop a relationship from a young age but I don't want to imagine them having sex when they're underage? So I only write and read about it when they're all at least 18. How is that silly if I'm just personally not comfortable with it? I'm not telling people to do it, I'm not judging anyone who is okay with underage cause it's just fiction, I just don't wanna do it myself cause I don't like thinking about it. It's closer to if I really liked pirates but everyone else around me preferred scifi. And then I would go out my way and make a pirate-au just 'cause I like to think about that more than the scifi setting. No beef with anyone who likes scifi, just that I prefer pirates more and I'm not into scifi! Probably makes no sense LOL but it's not pandering to antis and not virtual-signalling, sorry. Just what me, myself and I like. I also know some artists of this fandom have said that they age up characters because they don't want to draw kids in those scenarios. After I befriended a couple, turns out some of them share the same views on it as I do and that it's just a personal preference for them. Additionally, there are also legal problems involved in visual depiction of underage people in those ways. So some artists have to give warnings to not get in trouble legally in their countries. I'm sorry, but that is not cringy. It's called protecting yourself. So by ridiculing anyone who does it is harmful.
👀
#hogwarts legacy confessions#polls#like i said there's nothing wrong with it if you're setting it when they're actually older#declaring them “aged up” during the canon timeline is the silly thing imo#this is NOT illegal in the US#where the majority of tumblr users happen to be based

No cause is the fact that Lancelot.
First of all, before disappearing he already meet Tristan when they were kids, awesome, the thing comes when you realize that then He wanted to be superior to Tristan (In fact, he thought that TRISTAN THOUGHT hE was superior and that offended him blah blah blah) and that's why I hate that one scene of the movie cause omgggg lanceloooot shut uuuuup, boy can't handle the fact that someone is afraid of hurting people and thinks that that person actually thinks he's superior just cause he didn't wanted to fight(this is a whole mess ngl). And even now when they are teenagers. He totally thinks that. And Tristan thinks that too. When in first place that kind of thoughts shouldn't be a thing cause is not that good for a sane friendship yk?...
So when the homosexual girlies and boysies are like "OMGGG TRISLOT CANON 😝😝😝" they are actually. Changing. Lancelot personality cause. He's an ass. And what's more funny is that. He doesn't have an actual reason to be. An ass. So. YK.
Come on Lancelot stop this madness, you are cute just when the fandom hc you a new personality where you are LESS MEAN, that says a lot about ya.
"Cora are you, are you beefing a fictional character?" HAHAHA YES.

Beeftrue or Beeffalse,
You have penguins in your area?
beefTralse?
There are penguins at the Zoo in the city I live in. And good lord are they a noisy bunch.
But let me tell you about the first time I saw a duck penis. Boy howdy, if you ever thought that nature needed a dick that looked like the bundle of wires in your dad’s junk drawer, just google DUCK PENIS [or just take my word for it and keep the image just a pleasant fiction].
I was about 4 years old and was at a lake in a provincial park for a church picnic (yes baby beef was a god fearing beeflet once - if someone asks for the right beefLore, I’ll tell you the story of how that changed right quick) and there was a duck with what looked like a bundle of wet yarn hanging out of it. Needless to say, church folk get pretty uppity when kids ask about duck dicks over potato salad.
Thanks for adding to beefLore!
Yours in sin,
Beefro👌🥩😂

Love how the fandom basically agrees we are only watching for Loagn x Quinn and not damn Zoey 😂
hahaha yes, I'd say 90% of people will do the same.
It's not surprising, I know many of us rewatch season 4 just because of them. They really outshined the protagonist and main ship, and hope the producers don't forget than and give us a decent amount of content from them.
Why I think that is, the reason the audience lean more to Logan and Quinn or Quogan than Zoey and Choey, it's because both L and Q character's developed very well season through season. I mentioned before that I hated Logan on season 1, but he became a favorite mid season 2. Quinn was always always a favorite of mine, but she also got her development and it made me love her more. The same could be said about their relationship, they gradually moved from enemies to frenemies to friends to lovers, it was a beautifully paced thing and then we also got to see how they acted as a couple, and it was surprisingly healthy! the actors also had mad chemistry, they sold the love story very well.
Zoey and Choey however...
I disliked Zoey from season 1, I thought she would get better in the future but for me she got worse. She was very self centered and annoying and the show tried very hard to make us believe everyone loved her and she was an amazing person, but she just wasn't. I don't think she was a good friend, she wasn't a bad person, but she just,,, idk how to explain it. When I started rewatching I hoped I liked this time around, I thought "oh maybe it was just internalized misogyny or smth", but nah, I disliked her again (same for S1 Logan, god what a little jerk), she just showed no development either, and I think it was bc the writers didn't think she needed it, I think they thought she was perfect like that.
And she had no chemistry with Chase, not even with James. Zoey just wasn't charismatic for me, didn't have that charm to make her a loved character (this is all my opinion btw, it's okay if you disagree and do like her), I ended up liking any other character before her (even Logan who I hated, I think that says a lot), I ended up wishing any of the characters took over as the protagonist or got a spin off (I would absolutely watch a quogan or michael spin off, episodes about them were always the funniest. I would've even watched a Chase on england spin off. I can't fault JLS' acting bc she was just a kid ig (even tho her co-stars made an amazing job at selling a character), I mostly blame the writers.
And i wasn't like with Tori Vega, were it's understable to dislike her on the first season, but after the writers worked in making her likeable and then if you still hate her that's just on you. They never worked on making Zoey better.
And as for Choey, I think they played the will they-won't they game too long, and people got tired.
sorry this turned into an anti zoey rant lol, I really don't wanna be beefing with a fictional teen lol. But like, yea, I think that's the reason why nearly no one is watching because of Zoey/Choey.

I seem to have an elevated need to communicate my head stuff today, so here comes the next manifesto:
my headcanon Emhyr
First of all, a very strong appeal is the "worst father ever" to "mutual loving relationship" development with Ciri. It's central to my needs because my father was shit and actively despised me from about elementary school age on. He's been dead for 23 years but even if he was still alive I don't think he'd ever have made an effort to change his attitude towards me. So this is like kids of divorced parents watching Parent Trap on loop, I drink up the fantasy of paternal love. Not the first time either, was very much into Fringe once.
I also massively project on Emhyr with the lack of social skills. Yeah he has major trauma but for me he's also never been ye olde neurotypical person. He masks and The Emperor is his main mask. He was told he was to be emperor so when his world shattered into pieces that's what he kept clinging to and when he made it work, he just emperored as hard as he could (which is brutally hard). I've worked into my current WIP that he expected people to follow orders without taking into consideration how they'd do it, to explain his reckless disregard of sending rabid bloodhounds after his child.
The Emperor persona comes with strict social protocols and scripts so that's a very good mask. (I.e. "if I say x, you'll have to say y, I know how to handle this, yay") It tickles me that Geralt just never correctly responds to those protocols, doesn't bow, doesn't defer, says exactly what he's thinking. So for me that results in Emhyr getting little "tilt" signs in his eyes and he reacts with anger and irrational decisions (trying to explain away TW3 stuff here). And in my HC also with fascination - because I can and no-one can stop me.
In "The Gentleman..." I made Geralt learn that Emhyr's bluntness most often is just him being himself, and I like it that they are very similar in that but sometimes lack the selfawareness to see that.
Geralt thought, a little giddy, that he wasn't sure if that was a deliberate display of dominance or just his usual blunt self, but either was good and there was a lot of overlap. He probably was so very good at the first because of the latter.
I've also written him as depressed... (because Geralt left without saying bye)
"Emhyr felt like the day had gone on for several years. One of those days. Maybe it would be good to shove it all at Cirilla and... leave. Die, probably."
...and demi-ace (in the "Boxed" stories, which could be better, well whatever) - again: because I could.
I think it's funny how he actually tends to fuck up CONSTANTLY, both in the books and TW3, but we still usually eat up the "brilliant strategist" BS in our fics, like we're falling for his propaganda even though we're not even in his fictional universe. He gets kinda vetinaried, and I don't think it's just the voice. But alright, I'm there for it and I'm participating.
I'm not fine with romanticising colonialism though, it's a major beef I have with the Astolat stories. Emhyr's done fucked up shit, the wars are absolutely part of it and he has not "liberated" the invaded countries to let them "participate in the imperial glory", ffs, colonialism people, I can't even with the fash undertones of "bringing civilisation". My approach is: Ciri's doing things better now but no apologies for Emhyr's warmongery. Little meow meow: yes. Has done nothing wrong: no.
Alright, I guess that answers all the questions nobody ever had.

Sometimes We Get Together With Friends and Play Catch-Up
Ok, so I didn't actually go through the all-too-common Greek and Roman mythology phase that lots of pre-teen kids and a startling number of future history majors do. I got caught in fairy tales and dragons, so I absolutely missed the Percy Jackson books as they were coming out. I just wasn't interested. Then I had a classmate in Continental Literature in undergrad and every sentence out of her mouth for that entire 16-week semester was "Well AHKSHUALLY, in Percy Jackson..." and at that point I you couldn't have gotten me to read those books at gunpoint.
A dear friend of mine also missed the Percy Jackson books, so we decided to read it together. Y'all...I have THOUGHTS. Let's talk Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
SPOILER WARNING. I will spoil this book, so if you haven't finished this almost 15-year-old children's book and care about spoilers, catch us on the flip side.
Ok, so first and foremost: I can absolutely see why these books are beloved. If you were a Greek mythology enthusiast between ages 9 and 13, I can absolutely see why you'd inhale this book. It's also quite well-written, even at the sentence level, which is not always the case with middle grade books, where plot can occasionally overtake writing style.
The characters and plot were also on point, with a lovely balance of plot action to development. Grover and Annabeth had great development and the tension to friendship balance with Percy was excellent.
I also absolutely love Sally going "yes, let's turn my dickhead, abusive husband into stone and then make fucking BANK selling him as a statue to the 'super-ugly neorealism' enthusiasts." That was just GOOD.
I would also like to give this book major kudos for pulling off "everyman: for kids!" really well, in contrast to lots of chosen one and super special genius/jock/[insert category that only a limited number of kids can relate to here]. I think this would have spoken to so many more kids than other titles that were floating around in the early 2000s, and that is so, so important for kids' self-esteem and self-worth. I am never not grateful for books that made kids in a really challenging point in their lives feel seen and understood and perhaps even brave or strong or full of potential that they had the power to tap into.
So all that said, I think overall The Lightning Thief is a net positive for the world, and Rick Riordan has been a hella net positive for publishing and children's literature.
I do also have a pretty key issue with this book, and the issue is also just baffling to me. Rick Riordan rather famously said that
Percy was his way of telling his son, "Learning differences don't mean there's anything wrong with you. In fact, it is a mark of being very special indeed.” It was a message he says Haley “had no problem believing.” Seeing himself in fiction “empowered him,” Riordan adds. Since The Lightning Thief debuted in 2005, the story’s reach has moved well beyond Riordan’s child, the author’s work now sold in 37 countries. No matter where they live, Riordan notes, “It can be really empowering for kids to know that they are seen and understood. They may behave or process information differently in a classroom setting, but that doesn't mean they are flawed.”
Which is awesome and kids with neurodivergence and "learning differences" should feel seen and supported. This is great, I have no beef with this.
What I DO take issue with in this book is the truly baffling prejudice against physical disability and the reiteration of some genuinely harmful disability tropes, including a variation on disability drag.
Even in 2005, using "crippled" to describe people with physical disabilities was absolutely uncool, yet "crippled" is the terminology that is used throughout the book. Robert McRuer wouldn't publish his seminal Crip Theory: Cultural Signs of Queerness and Disability until 2006, so it wouldn't be realistic to expect Riordan to use "cripped" instead, but literally ANYTHING ELSE than crippled would be nice, because that word sets my teeth on edge. In this vein, we also get Annabeth leaning into the pervasive idea that disability and beauty cannot exist together, and the book does not check her or correct her, suggesting a tacit agreement. Here's Annabeth's contribution to disparaging physical disability:
There was literally no reason to connect what is implied to be an orthopedic disability with handsomeness or a lack thereof. The two have basically nothing to do with each other unless we're leaning into the moralizing about how disability is a visible sign of moral ugliness. That is an old, OLD disability trope, and we hate to see it because it moralizes bullshit beauty aesthetics and suggests that if you are physically disabled, you cannot be beautiful. Like, I cannot imagine being a physically disabled kid and reading this in a book and not being just absolutely crushed. Like...a pretty girl in a book has just said that she (and in a kid's mind, the leap to "and any other pretty girl" is less a leap and more the logical next step) will never find you handsome. That would be devastating.
Ok, so strictly speaking, "disability drag" is a term that describes the Hollywood predilection for casting abled actors to play disabled characters. That's not strictly what is happening in this book, but it's an easier shorthand than "character is faking a disability for [reasons]." The fact that Grover and Chiron are faking physical disabilities to "pass" for mortals is genuinely harmful.
PEOPLE IN THE REAL WORLD RIGHT NOW THINK THIS IS WHAT DISABLED PEOPLE IN THE REAL WORLD DO. AND THOSE ASSHOLES MAKES LAWS AND POLICIES THAT MAKE IT HARDER FOR DISABLED PEOPLE TO ACCESS EVERYTHING FROM EDUCATION TO MEDICAL CARE. Perpetuating the idea that disabled people are actually faking their disabilities to deceive others or game social systems does real harm. It also can lead physically disabled kids to wonder if they might actually be faking (and holy tits, do not make kids self-gaslight, that is so damaging) and/or push past their physical limits and HARM THEMSELVES to prove something to abled adults or peers, and disabled kids do not owe ANYONE proof.
Honestly, the way that Grover and Chiron were faking physical disabilities ruined the reading experience for me. Especially since Percy himself is over here at the beginning of the book calling Grover out for faking a disability because he walks awkwardly but can run faster than most kids. Like...this is just bullshit and harmful. Even though it is "explained" by the fact that Grover is a satyr, the fact that the book doesn't call Percy out for making the worst possible assumptions about a classmate's body isn't something you want kids thinking is acceptable. And I don't think that going "oh, he's a satyr" does anything to show that assuming that your classmates are lying about their physical disabilities or differences is KIND OF SHITTY.
It genuinely baffles me that Riordan has completely split the mind from the body in this book and made having ADHD and dyslexia a sign that you're a hero while simultaneously shaming physical disability. I literally cannot comprehend how this split makes logical sense. I am CONFUSED.
The friend I read this book with and I will be watching the new Percy Jackson series, so I'm curious to see how Disney is going to address this absolute contradiction that is inherently baked into the book.

So John Cena. How did he meet Shawn and the Undertaker? What is age difference between him and the kids? I have an idea for a fic ...
Give me your fictional family history for Shawn and the Undertaker.
So I did do a single dad au for shawn in which he was a teen dad that ended up with John after the mothers parents bascially said she has more of a future than you so you have to have the kid. Then obviously taker and shawn meet in the wwe and Leon and cassie come along. In that au there would be a 18 year gap between Leon and John. As Leon is born in 2000, cassie 2005 and John 1982. So yeah, it is a big age gap but taker and shawn only get serious after shawn gets clean and well Leon comes along.
But obviously I'm down to hear your idea because in literally any other au I have never thought about how John fits in at all.
Fictional family history? Buckle in because its gonna be a long one.
Takers family tree (without shawn)
(obviously we have no last names for them. I mean taker doesn't even have a proper first name.)
Thomas ??????- Father
Athena ?????- Mother
Undertaker - well him
Kane ?????? (Is his last name technically bearer?)-step brother
Paul bearer- Step father. (Ew gross, I hated writing that)
Shawns family (without taker)
(Bare in mind, I never use his family, they dont get mentioned by name as shawn cuts them off once he gets away from them, kayfabe obviously though i do have beef with shawns actual father)
Mr Michaels- Father
Ms Michaels- Mother.
?????? Michaels- oldest brother.
?????? Michaels- sister
????? Michaels- brother
Shawn Michaels- well..him.
Now the family of destruction. Our beloved, family.
Athena and Thomas- very deceased grandparents. (Blood relative)
Paul bearer- Step Grandfather (Leon hates it)
Vince Mcmahon- Grandad (they question it sometimes, don't we all, but he's always been there)
Linda Mcmahon- Grandma (wonder what she's up to these days)
The Undertaker- Dad
Jose lothario- the best grandpa they got.
Sensational Sherri- the best granny they got
Shawn Michaels- Papa
John Cena- Eldest son (either adopted by Shawn once he joins wwe or yk single dad au, which then his name is John Cena Michaels)
Leon Michaels- Middle Son (makes sense honestly)
Cassidy Michaels- Youngest Daughter (slayyy)
Kane- Uncle (the only blood one.)
Charlie doggo- their immortal German shepherd.
Now, it gets long and messy. Let's go.
Aunties-
Chyna
Stephanie Mcmahon
Goldust
Uncles-
Kevin Nash (Leon's fav)
Scott Hall (cassies fav. Him and hunter argue)
Hunter Hearst Helmsley (against his will, but he's cassies fav, him and Scott argue)
Sean Waltman
Goldust (yes he gets two spots. Fight me)
Stone cold Steve Austin (barely mentioned but takers gotta have people here too.)
Shane Mcmahon
Special mentions-
Randy orton, Dave Batista both view the kids as their siblings, as they are close to hunter they basically also saw the kids grow. (Taker does not let the kids be alone with flair. I make the rules here.)
Leon sees Finn Balor as a brother. That demon connection tbh.
Leon views Alexa bliss as a little sister.
Cassie sees Adam Cole as a brother, jokes he's Shawn and Hunters love child making them step siblings.
She also views liv Morgan as a sister, claiming she's the sister she always wanted.
And I believe that's everything. The kids grew up in the business so they've basically always viewed everyone as a big family, especially some of the older guys like roddy and pat. It's just this list is the real main guys that I include in my stories.
Oh, even more special mention.
Leon's eventual husband- Drew Mcintyre
Cassies eventual girlfriend- Rhea Ripley
#no. i am not tagging all of them. just the main peeps#wwe#shawn michaels#the undertaker#wwf#hbtaker#undertaker x shawn michaels#shawn x undertaker#leon michaels#cassidy michaels#the family of destruction#charlie doggo

Why is there beef in the hotd fandom?? It's an incest family with grand delusions of themselves
Excuse me while I just throw my thoughts out there, but like I understand rooting for one team over the other, or like kinda??? We all know how it ends either way. And if this is some kind of morality thing?? Which I see a lot of people kinda chalk it up to, then no one is a good choice, would you want to be ruled by any of these people?? I wouldn't. Yes, Rhaenyra was Viserys' heir and it's p rude to then just take the crown, even if Rhaenyra is not like the best option, but neither is Aegon!! (Who doesn't even want it) Nor Aemond either for that matter for the people who vibe with that. And I'm not saying that wanting one of the other is bad, cause hi hello IT'S FICTION. But I find it so strange that there is like actual anger here, like if you wanna be mad, be mad at them all??
Idk I vibe with all the characters tbh, because they're all really interesting and BAD. And that's interesting and alright. I'm also not gonna compare who has done the worse shit cause again it's fiction and it doesn't really matter.
It also just goes to show that tumblr and fandom culture has not changed, like dang. Let me also remind you that I was in the Hetalia fandom so I've seen my fair share of fandom shit, but I hoped you know we would have learned from the dark times and not go around and hate on what other people in the SAME fandom likes about said fandom.
Also this isn't directed at anyone who explains in a civil way why they don't like a character or a ship, I have no problem with that and critical analysis of the show is honestly welcome, but that literally applies to all the characters so there is very little reason to pit it against each other. I'm guessing a lot of the hate comes from you know teens and kids, but like please it is not that serious and you're going to be embarrassed that you had wars with people online about an incest show. Again, incest show, that should be the first indication that hey these people aren't at peak morality.
Also you can't convince me that the Rhaenyra/Alicent/Rhaenys/occasionally Laena hate isn't just some form of misogyny.
