A shot taken at the Namtso Lake in Tibet. According to the unbiased Tibetans that we met, it is the highest salt lake in the world. It has a vast expanse and seems like an ocean, seeming to flow endlessly into the same turquoise-coloured sky. Not too long ago, pilgrims used to cross over to one of the five uninhabited islands in winter time, over the frozen surface, to spend a year in meditation, entirely cut off from civilisation. Galata Bridge in Istanbul at sunset. “The Galata Bridge leads across the Bosphorus straight to the Galata Tower. No matter what time of day, the bridge always seems to be packed with fishermen. Standing there, shoulder to shoulder, some of them in conversation, others silently contemplating the ripples of the world beneath them. Buckets of tackle are randomly scattered along the footpath, hooks and other fishing gear are sold along its entire length.  Despite the bustle and the heavy traffic, it feels very peaceful here. Time seems to be suspended in between the rush of cars and lazy fishing lines glistening in the sun. On our way to #Monemvasia, a historical jewel of the #Peloponnese, we came through the little town of #Longanikos. The drive there is beautiful, with winding roads and serpentines guiding your eyes into new panoramas along every bend. Situated in the central Peloponnese, not far from ancient Sparta, Longanikos rests in a green and lush landscape. A woman during morning prayer around Jokhang Temple in Lhasa. Tibetans burn branches of pine trees and cypresses in a smoke offering every day. They call it Wei-Song. It is supposed to cleanse unlucky and dirty things and, more importantly, aromatises the palace of the mountain god, who will be pleased after smelling the aroma. Last night we went to Athens Pride 2018. What a marvellous atmosphere! Joyful people all around, coming together to celebrate free love. What better cause for people to gather? On the one hand, I imagine a world where everybody is equally accepted. A world where love may be expressed in any form without a frown or worse. On the other hand, I cherished the cause as giving rise to the occasion. For people to come together and experience themselves with an overflowing heart. I believe, the duality of life creates opportunity. Without an opposite, we would have no bearing, no frame of reference. Great personalities are built on this seeming contradiction. Yesterday, this opportunity was seized by thousands of them. So let’s raise our high heels to love and all the beautiful people of Athens! The Art of Transforming a Flag The latest developments with “The March of Hope”, the film Jim and I shot a little over two years ago, have inspired me to search my archive for an image that captures an essence of the film. I ended up with this one right here. “He had recognised something in German policy and its people at the time; in their attitude and priorities. Their desire to relieve suffering first and to find solutions later. In this context, therefore, for a fleeting moment, the flag had become a symbol of this universal attitude. To me, at least.
