They have some time. Vice felt Ultimo move time as well, trying to find them. He'd misjudged the travel, they have three years before they collide with Ultimo. Vice was exhausted from moving so much time, he could only imagine Ultimo wouldn't be able to jump so soon as well.

There's grieving. There's a LOT of grieving.

The first thing that happens is Rage suddenly and angrily correcting them. Fusataro was a woman, and he wasn't going to let them call her a man in death, gods damn it all. Fusataro never had the chance to come out to them herself, but she'd told Rage she wanted to.

He became a pacing lion, wanting to attack, to maim, to kill. Kia's anger at the time, her lashing out at anyone and everything after the woman's death, it drew Rage to her. He asked her to be his master. To help him get them both revenge. And in their equal fury, she agreed and she bonded with him.

Mizho started training her, and at first she's the perfect master. No one dared say she was a 'replacement' or 'substitute' for Fusataro, but she would swear she felt it in their stares. She felt it in her own stare in the mirror. Is she really worth being Rage's master? Her anger has started to fade. Grief has started taking over. Fusataro had died trying to protect her. It was her fault she's dead. At least in her mind.

Yamato is in much the same boat. If he'd sent Kia away sooner, if he'd paid more attention to their surroundings, if he'd kept their guard up.

Hana knows what death is, she's seen it. But never the death of someone who helped her up onto a higher perch so she could see, never someone the death of someone who helped her when she got lost once.

Sumako became quiet, more than usual. She focuses on keeping Hana on track, as does Kaizo.

Most everyone is in the same boat. Fusataro had managed to keep things moving, had been the in-between for them and Yamato, had bridged the gap between the former good master and the seven deadly sins. Yamato was the one with the plans, but Fusataro made sure they worked. She'd ended up befriending everyone, watching and resolving conflict before it happened.

She was buried silently. In a time where no one knew who she was except them. The question of what to do when they went back hung in the air, but there's no answer, so no one voices the question.

Yamato throws himself into his plan, meeting with past Oume and getting them into a position with the military. Rather than working against her, they provide her information under the radar in exchange for her help in teaching Vice more about Gauge's noh. She agrees, and so Yamato begins, working Vice hard and getting the sins where they need to be. He's grieving in his own way.

Vice has three years to work with the noh he has. The only thing he's missing is corporeal control, but Yamato is certain when they run into Matsumoto again that she'll give it to them, especially if they give her the memory of Ultimo's second murder.

Kia has three years to learn and work with Rage.

Three years before they have to get in touch with Matsumoto and Pardonner and jump to the future to confront Dunstan. End it all. All of this suffering the man has caused with this stupid war.

Yamato knows he's doing the right thing now. Ultimo had always been two hair triggers away from snapping like a fly trap. And now all the six perfections and many of his friends are in that trap.

For a bit, Rune gets closer to Yamato, and Yamato lets it happen. She was Lady Gekko, after all. Paresse does nothing about it. Of course he doesn't. Though Rune's jealousy is a bother, it's to be expected. Yamato still loves Sayama, too, and often reminds Rune about this. That he loves them both.

Rune's jealousy festers and grows, but at least she can say she won over Paresse. The man gets side glares out of the corner of her eye.

Yamato doesn't get it. He thinks Paresse is a protective, caring friend, like Mizho is. He doesn't understand why the read is different off Paresse than Mizho, he just assumes it's a personality thing. Heart reading isn't super accurate.

Paresse thinks it's funny when Yamato even voices this to him. Paresse never had any intent to pursue him, but hearing Yamato complain about Rune being jealous of him and the blatant, bold faced assumption that Paresse's affection was platonic is, quite frankly, hilarious.

Jealousy thinks this whole thing is a drag, but at least Rune is giving him fuel with the whole thing.

Kia remains oblivious to Vice's attempts to woo her, too absorbed in her own self hatred and resolve for vengeance.

Mizho realizes more and more that she misses her old training partner, and Yamato teases her for having a crush on Akitsu. Often resulting in a new bruise or three.

Their life, for three years, is this. Training, holding their cover, becoming closer to one another. Working as a team and covering each other's weaknesses.

But three years isn't as long as they'd like it to be.
