â The Aftermath â
(prev. next.)
Pairing: Veronica Sawyer x Heather Chandler (Heathers)
Summary: Veronica and Heather end up in the same diner after the dreadful party
Word count: 2836
Notes: This is my first time publishing any Heathers fanfiction so be nice please đ also this is supposed to be Heathers the musical but might take inspo from both so just a warning
âI can't believe this is happening,â Veronica mumbled under her breath. She kicked a rock aggressively before nearly stumbling over. God, how much had she drunk?
In short, the party had been a disaster. Veronica had screwed up. Big time. There was no way she could bounce back after all of that. In fact, just thinking back made her nauseous all over again.
Sighing, she took a deep breath of the crisp, night air, trying to calm down. Despite it being only late September, the night was cold and Veronica wrapped herself in her coat tighter while she mulled over the night in her head. Having to protect Martha from something that was technically Veronica's own fault, Heather turning on her in a bitchy rage, and the stupid, stupid fight she picked. Veronica didnât know what had happened. Of course Heather could be bitchy, but not usually so harsh - well, not to Veronica. It stung, and hurt Veronica more than she cared to admit. She blocked out the feeling and focused on her anger. After all, anger could be useful, right? Anger is practical. Whatever the mystery feeling (which she refused to believe was disappointment) was, it wasnât going to be helpful. She kicked another pebble with unneeded force and watched it skitter over the sidewalk, rattling against the near-silent night. It must have been at least 1 am, and she was far away from anywhere in town. Ram lived in one of those fancy, distant houses on the outskirts. It was dark too, much darker than when sheâd arrived after getting a lift withâŠ
Heather.
Shit.
Veronica stopped walking and leaned against a tree. She couldnât exactly walk home - a random, vaguely drunk teenager wandering the streets in the middle of the night was never going to be a good idea - her car was at home, and the idea of going back to beg Heather for a lift made her want to throw up. Again.
Besides, she couldnât go home like this. If her parents heard her sneak into the house, she was a dead girl walking. The original plan was to go to Heatherâs house before, well, shit hit the fan and Veronica managed to toss herself to the bottom of the social hierarchy in seconds.
So what could she do? There was no one she knew in this part of sherwood. Well, there was hardly anyone to know around here. It was practically empty except for a couple of ugly ass houses built in the 50s, the Ram's house, an overnight dinerâŠ
An overnight diner. That could actually work. She could spend the whole night - or what was left of it anyways - munching on chilli fries till her mouth tasted better and drinking enough pots of coffee to hopefully drown out her thoughts. No grovelling, no getting yelled at, no getting abducted. Just chilli fries. Yeah, the diner was an option.
Veronica pushed herself upright and walked down the street in a fairly straight line. It was only a short, unsteady walk down a few blocks before she arrived at the diner; then only 9 more minutes before she sat, sipping a black coffee and chewing on what was probably more deep-fryer fat than potato.
The diner was pretty bleak. Excluding her, there was only a few people loitering around: a middle-aged woman in a huge overcoat aggressively biting into a burger, a young-ish guy who looked drunk out of his mind giggling and staring at his cup, a waitress who looked like she wanted to pack it in and head home - not that Veronica blamed her. Pale grey and faded red striped the wall in a feeble attempt to add cheer, but it was still a thousand times better than the party Veronica had left behind.
Sighing, Veronica pulled her purse open and yanked out her diary.
Dear diary,
My life is officially over. I hope they play _ at my funeral. The party was a mess. I left âkeggers with kidsâ only to end up in a nightmare. It was chaos, fucking chaos, and somehow the it only got worse.
Diary, I have ruined my life. At least for high school. Probably longer. All because of the stupid argument with Heather-
Veronicaâs pen hovered above the page, her mind drifting elsewhere.
Heather. Ugh.
Everytime Veronica tried to think about Heather Chandler, she couldnât bring herself to focus on the other girl for too long. Veronica was used to being scared of her. After all, she had known her as only a mythic bitch until the near-end of sophomore year. And she was terrifying now, with the fate of Veronicaâs entire social life in her hands, just waiting to be crushed between her manicured fingers. Veronica knew what Heather Chandler was: dangerous, merciless and not someone to screw around with. She didnât care if she was liked; all she cared about was her position at the top of the food chain.
And sheâd fucked Veronica over. Big time.
The funny thing was, Ronnie had been so sure. Sheâd been convinced there was more to Heather than some rich bitch who was obsessed with red. Heather Chandler was a person, and thereâs good in everyone. There had been moments, Veronica was sure; when sheâd smiled after winning a match of croquet instead of smirking and simpering like she did at school. Or the small look of disappointment on Heatherâs face when she saw her results on a vocab quiz, before it frosted over into a sneer. Even the way her finger tapped subconsciously against the steering wheel of her Porsche whenever ABBA played over the stereo. A few scattered slivers of humanity that you couldnât capture - there and gone so fast it was hard to be sure if they even happened. Nobody else noticed. But ever since Heather dragged Ronnie to highschool stardom, she had been almost certain that she wasnât just some cruel Barbie Doll. But, as it turned out, Veronica was wrong. Heather was willing to snap anyone's neck under her stilettos.
Even Veronicaâs.
She took another long sip of her coffee, breathing in the earthy smell. The facts were: A) she was dead meat come Monday. B) Heather Chandler almost definitely despised her. C) She had no friends, no options, no chance. D) These fries were delicious.
So Veronica had nothing to do now. Nothing to lose and nowhere to go. How very.
With a quiet grunt of irritation, she placed her pen down and laced her fingers around the mug, drumming her fingers in an inconsistent pattern. If her thoughts didnât shut up soon, it was going to be a really long night.
â â â â
The loud car horn jerked Veronica awake. The girl startled up, dropping her hand from where it had been pressed into her face. By the time she had recognised the horn, the carâs occupant was already inside the diner.
Veronica heard her voice before she saw her.
âWhat the fuck are you doing here?!â To Veronicaâs surprise, Heatherâs voice was more dumbfounded than angry - although the queen beeâs tone couldnât have been mistaken for anything other than cold.
With a barely suppressed groan, she turned to face Chandler. âI could ask you the same thing.â
âI always come here after going to parties - not that itâs any of your business.â Heather huffed, glancing around. âWhatâs that?â
Heatherâs eyes narrowed when she caught sight of Veronicaâs diary.
Shit.
Veronica quickly snatched the notepad and stuffed it away. For godâs sake, why hadnât she just done that earlier? She couldnât have predicted Chandlerâs arrival but still, how stupid did she have to be to leave it lying-
âWell?â Heatherâs voice was a knife through her thoughts.
âItâs nothing. A notepad to⊠practise in.â Veronica lied quickly. She had always done her best to hide her diary from Heather, for fear of being mocked. Clearly, writing down all your thoughts and feelings wasnât exactly something to be considered cool by most people - and it definitely wasnât seen that way by Heather. The other girl arched her eyebrow, but Veronica ploughed on. âYâknow, to perfect my forgeries and stuff-â
âDonât screw with me, âRonica.â Heather cut her off. âThatâs your handwriting. Which is pretty shit, considering you're good at copying other peopleâs writing.â Heather unfolded her arms to lean against Veronicaâs table, her hard expression slowly morphing into a smirk. âWhy? Is it a diary or something? Because I donât think thereâs much point keeping embarrassing secrets from me when you're already dead meat.â
Veronica glowered at her, trying to ignore how terrifying the idea of Chandler flipping through her journal was. âI⊠Itâs none of your damn business Heather.â She was pretty proud of how steady she kept her voice.
Heather scoffed, her tone one of mock hurt. âAnd here I thought we were friends.â
âYou literally told me I was history.â
âOn Monday. Iâd said youâd be history on Monday.â
Veronica sat back on her seat, avoiding Heatherâs gaze. With an eye roll so intense Veronica could practically hear it, Chandler sat down across from Veronica and stole a fry from her bowl. Veronica glared at her. Heather scoffed.
âDonât give me that wounded look. You can spare a fry. Especially when you owe me an entire pair of shoes.â
âI thought I'd paid for those with my dignity.â Veronica muttered.
âExcuse me, Sawyer?â
âNothing.â
âI thought as much.â There was a moment's pause. Veronica stared down into her mug, regretting every decision she'd ever made that could have led up to this moment. Heather seemed to notice her less-than-joyful expression and sneered.
âGod, âRonica. Why can't you just lighten up?â
âIt would be easier to lighten up if you hadn't ruined my social life.â Veronica said through gritted teeth, her eyeâs remaining angled down.
Heather paused for a moment - hesitated, almost - before replying to her in her usual, snobbish tone. âThat's your own fault. Nobody forced you to side with Martha Dumptr-â
âDunnstock.â
âSomeoneâs touchy,â
âSomeone doesnât like your stupid, lousy nickname for her friend,â Veronica countered.
Heather sneered. âStill defending little miss Shamu are we?â
Veronica was done. She looked up to face her scoffed back - I mean, she had nothing left to lose, why should she care what Heather thought of her now? âYeah, actually. I care about Martha, because most people care about others! Most people arenât mythic bitches who care more about their scrunchies than actual people. Not everyoneâs a mythic bitch, Heather!â
A borderline hurt expression cut across Heatherâs expression, but it vanished just as soon as it had appeared, replaced by a glare. âYou are dead, Sawyer. Monday morning will arrive and you wonât even exist anymore.â
âYeah, well, thatâs the same position Iâve been in for the past few hours; nothing new here.â Veronica let out a mirthless laugh. âMight as well take the cheap shots now while I still can, right?â
The confidence in her voice felt alien. Maybe she knew for sure there was nothing left for her to lose. Or maybe it was just alcohol. Eh, brave, drunk, stupid, what was the difference?
Heather ran a hand through her long, thick blonde hair, her mouth twisted into an arch of distaste. âHell, sometimes, you make it easy to hate you,â
âWell, I hate you more. That I can promise.â
The corner of Heatherâs lips curled upwards in response to Veronicaâs words, looking vaguely impressed by the girlâs nerve.
âYou chose to fly with eagles,â false sympathy wrapped around Heatherâs words. âNow itâs time to face the consequences, sweetheart.â
âYeah, well, sue me for giving a damn.â Veronica mumbled. The girl across from her sighed incredulously.
âWhyâd you do it, Vee? You said you wanted to be one of us, you wanted to be like me-â
âWith you, not like you,â
â-So whyâd you throw it all away?â Heatherâs expression looked the most genuine Veronica had seen it; there was real confusion
âBecause I care about Martha!â Veronica said, incredulous as to how she couldnât get it. âI should have never written that stupid note in the first place. Sheâs like my sister-â
âI get that sheâs your friend and all, but that was excessive.â Heatherâs nose wrinkled.
Veronica thought for a moment. âWell, if you were a kid and you ran into a road, your mom would stop you, right?â
There was a pause. âUh, yeah, okay. I guess.â
Veronica watched her closely. Weird reaction you got there, Heather. âThe point is, itâs like that. Sheâs important to me, and so be it if I lose my spot in some clique for her.â
The red-clad girl paused. She hardly seemed angry now, more⊠pensive. Heather didnât speak for a few beats, then: âYou didnât answer my original question.â
âHuh?â
âWhat the fuck are you doing here?â Heather clarified, this time her voice was less cold and more⊠something else. Something softer.
âOh. Well, you were going to give me a lift back, but we had the fight seeing as you hate me now-â Heather shot her an odd look, â- I thought it would be best to walk back. Turns out I underestimated just how alienated Ram's house is from the rest of town.â
Heather muttered something that sounded like âwhat kind of high schooler uses the word alienated?â Veronica ignored her and ploughed on.
âThere's no way I'm walking back now. It's too late, and my parents do not need to see me like this. So, I found this place and I'm staying over here.â
Heather stared at her. âStaying over here?â
âYeah.â
âOvernight?â
âYep.â
âNo bed, just sleeping on the diner table?â
âUh huh.â
âYou-â A myriad of feelings flickered over Heather's face too quickly for Veronica to decipher - it took her long enough to process Heather showing that much emotion anyways - before settling into a hardened, haughty look. âNo.â
Veronica blinked. âI uh, well- what?â
Not Veronicaâs brightest literary moment, she would admit, but she also had alcohol in her system and Heather's firm response was sort of⊠baffling.
âNo.â
After a sec, the Power of Speech returned to Veronica. âSo. you want me to just wander around till morning?â
Heather rolled her eyes. âNo, you pillowcase. Sleeping in some shitty diner is pathetic and embarrassing and-â
âWhat does it matter? None will mean anything in a year's time. Hell, it won't mean anything come Monday! âNobody at Westerberg is going to let you play their reindeer games.â Sound familiar?â Sucking air in through her teeth softly, Veronica chanced a look up at Chandler. Her voice was bitter and she knew it, but there wasn't any point in holding back. âI'm over, Heather. Whether I sleep in a diner or not, I'll still be strung up on a wall on Monday. All. Thanks. To. You.â
Heather huffed, looking sideways. For the first time Veronica had spoken to her - ever - Heather refused to meet her eyes. âLook, I⊠IâmâŠâ
âYou're what?â Veronica cut her off, with no attempt to mask the irritation in her voice. It wouldn't have done anything anyways. Heather must have been really pissed if she was stuttering. She never stuttered; her eloquence cut through the air, sharpened into blades to match her cutting words. If Veronica had riled her up that much, well then-
âIf you really don't have anywhere else to go,â Heather spoke through gritted teeth, âyou could come⊠stay over at. My place.â
What!?
âWhat!?â
âYou heard me.â The girl in red replied. Her eyes flicked to Veronicaâs and something glazed over them. Something likeâŠ
Oh. Oh.
âHoly shit, you're guilty, aren't you? You feel bad!â Veronica nearly laughed.
A sneer rose to Heatherâs lips, and she rolled her eyes. âOh shut up, Vee.â
âNo, I won't shut up.â Veronica replied immediately, before lowering her tone slightly. âIs this your way of saying sorry?â
The lack of denial said it all for Veronica. She let out something between a scoff and a breath. âOh my god-â
âDo you want the offer or not?â Heather cut her off harshly. âIf you'd rather be left here alone without any idea of how to get home, then enjoy your little loser fest.â
Veronica thought about it. Could she really consider going over to stay at The Mythic Bitchâs house. That was an awful idea waiting to happen, she would only dog her grave deeper⊠But still. A warm, clean, safe house sounded incredibly very right now. It was just one night; there was no way she could worsen her current situation in that time. And Heatherâs fancy, upper class mansion of a house was the perfect place to crash out.
Veronica was knocked out of her contemplation by the drumming of Heather's fingernails on the aluminium table tops. Heather spoke, âWell?â
Was going along with this the smart thing to do? Probably not. Staying in the same house as the teenage girl who you vomited on earlier the same night didn't really come under smart ideas. And Veronica Sawyer was the sort of person who did the smart thing.
But not tonight.
âFuck it. I'm in.â

[WIP] The Miracle of Living - Lita
A/N: So - picture it, Sicily, 1934. Many many moons ago I wrote a ludicrous/devastating Bitney AU based on the San Junipero episode of Black Mirror that I never bothered my arse posting the conclusion of. Veronica specifically was obsessed with this AU, and has been pestering me to upload the rest of it almost incessantly for literally years. Cut to last year, myself and V met up IRL and turns out spending three days in a hotel with the bitch gives her a lot of time to peer-pressure you into restarting writing projects that you originally started when you were still in high school. The original AU isâŠfine, but there were plot holes and unaddressed issues that have been bothering me for years, so because Iâm me, Iâve decided to just totally restart the whole gd thing with more backstory, more tragedy, and more bullshit.Â
This has been a long, long time in the works, and I have no ETA for the first completed chapter, but youâll get it eventually. So, now Iâm here - again, under duress by V, but here regardless. Since Iâm a good daughter, hereâs the first snippet of the prologue to the main story (because I inexplicably decided it needed a prologue.) Enjoy, divas xoxo
Los Angeles, California
âBEN!âÂ
Biancaâs furious voice rings out through the small apartment. Sheâs sitting on the toilet with her pajama pants and underwear around her ankles, willing the second blue line to disappear. If anything, itâs getting darker.Â
âUhâŠyeah?â The tentative reply comes from the other side of the bathroom door.. Â
âI thought you said you wore a fucking condom!â
âI did!â Ben protests from the other side of the bathroom door. Then, meek and cautious: ââŠIt might have split.âÂ
âIt might have what?â
Two and a half months ago, Bianca and Ben had gone out drinking to commiserate the ends of their respective relationships - Ben had found out about his long-term boyfriendâs secret Grindr profile and dumped him, then Biancaâs longest-lasting FWB had called it quits with her less than a week later. When they got home, drunk and dumb and miserable, theyâd started making out with each other on the couch - as a joke, just for something to do. And then, since they were shitfaced and apparently didnât know any better, one âjokeâ led to another, and theyâd woken up naked in Benâs bed. They had laughed it off the morning after, hunched at the kitchen table over alka-seltzer and black coffee - too much liquor, too many emotions. Shit happens.Â
And then tonight, Bianca had mentioned offhand that she was incredibly overdue her period, and suggested going out to buy a test half as a joke. Ben had gone along with it a little too willingly, and heâd been overly-energised and super fucking weird on the walk to the drugstore. Really, Bianca should have known something was up when heâd detoured via the liquor store across the street, and came back with two bottles of tequila.Â
âBen, are you fucking kidding me?â Bianca says through her teeth.Â
âI was gonna tell you,â Ben replies, sounding flustered. âIs the door locked? Can I come in?â
Bianca wants to say no, but it was Benâs curiosity about her vagina that got them here in the first place, so who cares about whether or not he sees her now? She reaches over to turn the lock. Ben shuffles into the room in his leopard-print boxers and an oversized pajama shirt, and perches on the edge of the bathtub, looking at the floor.Â
Part of Bianca wants to burst into tears - another part of her wants to scream until she throws up. Not now. Not fucking now - not like this. Sheâs twenty-two; Bianca doesnât even know that she wants a goddamn kid at all, forget about one fathered by her gay best friend. Â
âLook, I didnât notice until after we were done. And I didnât want to freak you out - I figured it would probably be nothing, and then there was never a good time, and then you told me you were late and IâŠâ Â
âYouâre a faggot, we were hammered, we fucked because we thought it would be funny - if you knew that there was anychance whatsoever that youâd knocked me up, you should have fucking told me!âÂ
âSo, youâre pregnant?âÂ
âYeah - no shit, Sherlock.â
âDo you think you should take another one? To make sure or whatever?â Ben asks. Bianca presses the heel of her hand to her temple, still not breaking eye contact with the pregnancy test.Â
âNope - that looks pretty positive to me,â Bianca shows it to him, wiping the mist of stress-sweat from her brow. Ben pulls a vaguely disgusted face. Thereâs a moment of pause - Bianca bites her lip, struggling to make sense of the messy cocktail of emotions swirling around inside her head.Â
âAre you okay?â Ben tries to take Biancaâs hand. It feels weirdly violating to have someone touching her while sheâs sitting on the toilet. She swats him away, chuckling and shaking her head.Â
âI think so. I need a little time to get my head aroundâŠeverything,â Bianca sighs, still staring at the test. âI really didnât see being a single mom in my life plan.â
âWho says you have to be a single mom?â Ben tilts his head.Â
Bianca scoffs.Â
âWhat? No- Ben, I really donât want to date you - one night was bad enough.â
âThatâs not what Iâm saying. But likeâŠif youâre gonna go through with this, Iâm not just leaving you by yourself to do it. Both of us did something dumb, and now weâre here - so, both of us should have to parent the consequence.â Thereâs a quiet, sympathetic smile on Benâs face. Bianca still wants to fucking kill him.Â
âYouâre just saying that so I stop being mad at you.â
âNo! Anyway, I canât let you raise it by yourself - I love you, but the world really, really doesnât need two of you.â
âHa-ha, go suck a dick,â Bianca rolls her eyes. She canât help but crack a smile.Â
âIf this is what happens when I try to go outside my comfort zone, then yeah, thatâs what Iâm sticking to.â
 ****Â
Sydney, AustraliaÂ
âSoâŠwhat the fuck do we do now?âÂ
âGet ratarsed?â Vanity offers, lifting a bottle to her lips with a grin.Â
The Louboutins sheâd insisted on dropping a bomb on for graduation had barely stayed on the whole way through the ceremony; her bare feet are resting in the grass, her dirty-blonde hair glowing golden in the sunset. Her red lipstick is smudged and her foundation has half-sweated off, and she looks beautiful.Â
âI mean beyond that,â Courtney says, lying back on the hard ground and stifling a burp. âLikeâŠhow the fuck do we doanything? I donât wanna be an adult.â Â
There was only so much formality that the two of them had been able to stomach. Vanity has the attention span of a toddler, and Courtney didnât know anyone else well enough to give a shit about socialising with them. She had Vanity; sheâd been there since they were in kindergarten, and she was all that she needed. So, theyâd stolen two bottles of cheap champagne from the boring, stuffy grad afterparty and escaped to watch the sunset in the park - the endeavour was more killing time pre-drinking and waiting for the clubs to open than trying to do anything cute or memorable, but Courtney couldnât lie and say she didnât love it a little bit. Calm moments with Vanity didnât happen very often - she herself was the storm.Â
Four years of university forâŠthis. Life seemed so vast and confusing. Courtney had expected to come out prepared to face it; but if anything, she just feels smaller and less ready for the next fifty or sixty years she had left to screw around on the planet. She doesnât know how to entertain herself for that long. Sucks to be her, she guesses - the journalism degree sheâd pursued felt useless. After spending last summer interning at a newspaper, sheâd learned that the career choice that seemed chic and fun when she was seventeen was mostly sitting around in an office being bored, when she wasnât being sent on coffee runs.Â
At least she wasnât in Vanityâs boat - passing her major by the skin of her teeth and with the assistance of a stack of mitigating circumstance forms, with an attendance rate of 17%, two spates of alcohol poisoning, and one arrest for pissing in the street under her belt. Sheâd viewed higher education more as an opportunity to party for four years. But theyâd made it - both of them had.Â
âTough shit,â Vanity shrugs. âNobody ever fucking knows what theyâre doing, they just pretend to. Youâve got like, forever to figure it out.âÂ
âAre you really someone I should be taking life advice from?â Courtney tilts her head.Â
âWhat do you mean? Iâm a fucking delight.â
âYou did skip a monthâs rent to pay for those shoes,â Courtney observes - Vanity elbowing her in the shoulder with a playful laugh.
âThatâs not irresponsible, itâs self-expression - fucking transphobe,â she scoffs. âIâve got twenty years worth of masculine posturing to get out of my system, let me have my expensive shiny shit.âÂ
âYou think you were masculine? Like, ever?â Courtney laughs. Vanity nods in a way that indicates a little too much sincerity. âVanity, Iâve known you since we were six - Iâm still convinced that the only reason weâre friends is because my parents let you play with my Barbies.â Â
âIt was originally, but I learned to like you too,â she shrugs. Courtney grins.Â
Last year, after a particularly messy night in the club, theyâd stumbled home - Vanity a dozen drinks and two lines of white miscellanea deep, Courtney not far behind her - and congregated in the cramped bathroom of their shared apartment. It had become a ritual. Getting home as the sun was coming up, parking themselves on the tiled floor, or in the empty bath, or kneeling in front of the loo if theyâd really overdone it - exhausted and sweaty and coming down, but unable to accept that the party was over. Like most nights, Vanity started crying. Usually it was about a boy, or her parents, or her general ennui. The bitch had a lot of fucking demons. But this time it was heavier. And she wouldnât tell Courtney what the fuck the matter was. Eventually, the confession had tumbled out of her mouth in between breathless sobs, as she slumped against the wall with a half-finished bottle of wine in her hand; Courtney sat on the toilet, mid-piss and unsure what to do with herself.Â
So, that was it. Vanity was a woman. And left to her own devices, she would have been all too content to keep pretending that she wasnât - with the help of a steady stream of one-night stands and whatever mind-altering substance she could get her hands on. Canât acknowledge your problems if youâre not sober enough to remember what they are. Courtney hadnât so much helped her come out of the closet as she had dragged her out of it kicking and screaming.Â
Vanity had always been the one who knew what she was doing - louder, more confident, even when they were kids. Growing up, Courtney really hadnât had friends; Vanity had friends who let Courtney hang out with them. Courtney adored the bitch - someone had to - but she had always felt a little pinch of jealousy towards her too. She shrunk in comparison to her best friend.Â
And now here she was; Vanity was staggering blind into this new phase of her life, with Courtney - who at that point had been accomplishing womanhood to relative success for twenty-one years - by her side, ready and willing to teach her whatever she needed to know. Sheâd had all of these cute little fantasies about shopping trips and manicures, being the one to school Vanity in femininity.Â
Annoying thing was, once Vanity had finally admitted that the ongoing gender crisis sheâd been ignoring since her mid-teens wasnât going away any time soon, sheâd just blossomed into herself. Everything seemed to come so naturally to her; she hadnât needed any of Courtneyâs help, except from borrowing a lipstick here and there. So, the jealousy remained - sheâd only been doing it for eleven months, and Vanity was better at being a girl than Court was too, on top of everything else.Â
But Courtney didnât really give a shit. Whatever saccharine big-sister daydream sheâd had about her role in Vanityâs ânewâ way of being didnât really fucking matter. Vanity wasâŠactually happy, arguably for the first time ever.Â
âDo you think we should start thinking about making a move? That three-for-two happy hour thing at Gingerâs finishes in a bit,â Vanity ponders, swallowing back the dregs of her champagne.
âCan we just chill here for a bit longer? Let me finish my existential crisis before you start thinking about where your next drink is coming from,â Courtney scoffs.Â
âYou can sweat over the futility of your sad little life any time you like, do you have to do it right now?â she huffs, picking at her chipping nail polish.Â
âPlease,â Courtney says, looking up at her with plaintive doe-eyes and reaching for her hand. Â
âFine - youâre such a fucking loser,â Vanity grins.Â
She lies back in the grass, resting her head on Courtneyâs shoulder and playing around with a lock of her hair. The last sliver of sunlight is still glowing dusky orange, and Courtney is pleasantly tipsy and, for all her internal stress and bullshit, she feels this air of calm washing over her. Panicking about what she was going to do with the rest of her life could wait until tomorrow, at least.Â
Vanity slips her hand into Courtneyâs. Her presence feels warm and safe and familiar - she smells like cheap vanilla perfume and hairspray, and itâs overbearing but Courtney adores it anyway.Â

december 25th, 2024.
iâŠ
i donât even know where to start.
umm, yeah shit. the lead up to today has been intense. a lot of sadness, hope, and worrisome thoughts which obviously are not helpful but when you are feeling so low itâs nearly impossible to not go there.
he came with me, thankfully. so i didnât need to do today alone. and fucking hell, i am so grateful he did.
i spent this morning in the backyard, listening to the neighbours ease into their mornings, you could smell food cooking already, and it was barely 10am. i cried, i cried so hard. i keep thinking about how, last christmas was taken from us, i had covid and we couldnât spend it together, it was also when it first really dawned on me how sick you had gotten.
i had a shower, got myself freshened up, and we left. driving to you, i cried 3 more times. i decided to get red rooster on the way, to give at least a mock roast dinner feel.
we pulled up to the hospital, i got a car park pretty much instantly which was good as it was quite full. for christmas day, that surprised me.
as we walk in, i see so many different families, all spending some of their day here with a loved one. some people i see have the ICU stickers on and i feel deeply for them.
we go to your ward, i walk in your room, lunch is in front of you and you are just sobbing, uncontrollably. i was trying so hard to be strong for you, but i broke immediately. nothing breaks my heart more than watching you go through this.
i stayed for a while, i got you to smile a few times which was great to see, but we cried a lot too. each minute felt like an eternity at one point.
you were sick after lunch, you just threw it all back up. the nurse that attended to you mentioned that you did this with your breakfast too.
itâs happening again, youâre getting sicker.
we stay a little longer, but i need to leave, we managed to stay for an hour an a half. as i go to leave i see the doctors are doing rounds. they get to your room, and they talk about you.
âthis is patient veronicaâ
âhowâs she doing?â
ânot goodâ
i know they didnât mean for their conversation to be overheard, but i made myself present to them. i asked if they could give me an update on you, they asked me to stay a little longer so they could give me a thorough update.
they come in, and close the door. they tell me whatâs going on, and yeah itâs your kidneys. they are drying out and starting to lose their functional capacity. theyâve said they will continue to treat you for another 2-4 weeks and then discuss what to do from there.
worst case scenario, i have 2-4 weeks left with you. itâs just not fair, i need more time with you. you are so fucking scared, i can see it, you apologise to me a million times over, and tell me how proud you are of me.
i kiss you on the forehead as we leave, and as we walk down the hall, i just hear you sobbing again.
and this isnât even my hardest day yet. itâs just another day when your mother is dying, my best friend, my one constant in this life. i am so petrified of losing you, even though i know itâs going to happen no matter what, i just wanted more fucking time.

Dazed and Confused (S 1: 4/?)
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Female!Reader
Warnings: mild language and violence
Word Count: 3.1k
Part Summary: Steve and Y/N spend the weekend together and on Monday, Nancy canât remember a thing...Â
Masterlist
I woke up early with a headache and decided the best course of action is a hot shower. I let Steve stay in bed, after the tough night he had he deserves it.Â
After hopping out of the shower, I turn down my radio and quietly bop toÂ
Culture Club. I wipe down the foggy mirror and start my hair routine. It takes a lot to get the voluminous hair of the decade. Once I'm done, I emerge back into my bedroom to grab a change of clothes, leaving my radio going.Â
"Morning," Steve voices, staring up at the ceiling.Â
I jump, squeezing my towel around me. "Oh uh, hi, sorry! I thought you were still asleep!"Â
He lifts his head and realizes I'm in a towel. His eyes grow wide. "Oh shit! No, my bad! I uh... I'll go downstairs!" He rushes to climb out of bed.Â
"No! No! It's okay! I'll go get ready in the bathroom! Let just me grab some stuff!" I hurry over to my dresser.Â
Steve settles back down with a sigh, clearly happy to be able to rest after the night he had.Â
"Have you been up long?" I ask.Â
"Nah, just thinking about last night and what happened with Nancy..." he states solemnly.Â
"Well, it's Saturday," I remind him of the perk. "My parents are gone to Chicago for a business trip for a few days, which means we can hang out here. A nice big chocolate chip pancake breakfast," I suggest, heading back toward my bathroom door.Â
"Sounds nice," he grins. "And then we could go to the mall, maybe rent a movie?"Â
"Splash?" I request.Â
He nods, meeting my gaze again. "Deal."Â
I move to head back into the bathroom to get ready with a content smile.Â
"Hey Y/N?" He rushes out, flying up from his laid position.
I hum, turning over my shoulder.Â
"Do you-" oddly, he stops himself, shaking his head. "Never mind," he laughs.Â
"You sure?"Â
He nods, "yeah. Don't worry about it."Â
I shrug and head back into the bathroom. Weird.Â
________________________________________________
Steve and I are curled up on my couch, watching Splash, one of my favorite movies. A bowl of popcorn and M&Ms shared between us, along with a blanket.Â
I shake my head, immersed in the movie. "I love-Â
"Tom Hanks," Steve chuckles, tossing some candy into his mouth. "How many times have you seen this movie?"Â
"At least a dozen," I confess.Â
He glances over at me. "You have a problem."Â
"Tell me about it," I smirk proudly.Â
Abruptly, the phone in the hall starts to ring. I huff, hopping up off the couch to get it.Â
"Want me to pause it?" Steve checks.Â
"Nah, I've seen it," I giggle and pick up the phone. Â "Hello?" I greet.Â
"I need you to come over, right now!" Dustin panics.Â
I frown, glancing at Steve through the archway in confusion. "Now? Why? What's wrong?"Â
"I've found a giant slug!" He rushes out.Â
"A slug," I repeat in annoyance. "Seriously, Dustin."Â
"I've named it Dart!"Â
"I'll see it on Monday," I move to hang up.Â
"No! You have to come over now!" He insists.Â
"Kinda busy here," I grumble under my breath.Â
"Busy? How are you busy? You're never busy."Â
"I am too! I have company!" I tell him.Â
"You don't have company, Steve is over," he argues.Â
I hurry over to the window, the phone cord following behind me. Steve watches me in curiosity as I scan up the road at Dustin's house. "Are you watching my house again?"Â
"That's not important!" He shouts, clearly guilty. "Why are you hanging out with Steve?"Â
"Why do you have a giant pet slug?" I fire back.Â
"Fine, just bring him too!"Â
"We can't, we have plans."Â
"Son of a bitch, you're really no help at all you know that?"Â
I scoff. "Oh save it, I drive you to school every day. Bye!" I hang up the phone.Â
Irritated, I walk back over to the couch and pull half the blanket back over me. Thankfully, I didn't miss anything good in the movie.Â
Steve hands me the candy bowl. "What was that about?"Â
"I don't have any biological siblings but I do have a little brother," I remark, making him snicker.Â
_________________________________________
On Monday morning, I blast Night Ranger through my Walkman as I unload my bag into my locker. Dustin wouldn't shut up about his stupid slug all the way to school. He was pretty annoyed that I didn't come in and see it this morning. I assured him that I would stop in when I drive him home. Suddenly, I feel a hand on my shoulder and I spin around, removing my headphones.Â
Nancy nervously rocks on her heels, gripping her books to her chest. "Hey, have you seen Steve?"Â
I frown. "Not yet, why?"Â
"Have you seen him since Tracy's?"Â
"Yeah..." I reply hesitantly, wondering where this is going.
"Well, he hasn't answered my calls all weekend," she tells me in a hushed tone, glancing up and down the hall for eavesdroppers. "Whenever I left a message, his mom called back and said he was out. Do you know what's going on with him?"Â
"I don't..." I drag out, debating on if I should tell her the whole truth. "After a certain point, all I remember is Billy hitting on me and Steve driving me home." I stick to what I know for sure happened.Â
Her face changes from concern to confusion. "Wait, he drove you home? I thought he drove me home."Â
"No, I mean unless he drove you home and came back."
She whines, glancing down the hall anxiously. "I better go talk him. I'll see you later!"Â
I nod and mumble an 'okay.' I watch as she hurries down the hall toward the gym where Steve likely is hiding. I slip my headphones back on with a sigh. This won't be good.Â
____________________________________
I walk out of Algebra with my friend Veronica, gushing about the newest Elton John album. Abruptly, a hand wraps around my wrist and I yanked away from her.Â
"Woah! Jesus!" I blurt out and my eyes land on Steve as he hurries me down the hall. "Okay Harrington, where are we going?" I laugh nervously.Â
He releases my wrist and presses his hand to my back. "McDonald's, a park, anywhere, I don't know! I just want to get out of here."Â
"But I still have chem before lunch," I remind him.Â
"You can afford to miss one class," he laughs. "Your GPA is what 3.9999-"Â
I roll my eyes but comply nonetheless. "Well, there goes my perfect attendance."Â
Steve and I run by McDonald's and enjoy our milkshake and fries in the parking lot. Steve has the radio quietly going in the background as he fills me in on the details of his talk with Nancy. In summary, it didn't go well.Â
"So she doesn't remember any of it?" I clarify.Â
"Appears not." He rolls his eyes, shoving some fries into his shake.Â
I nod, processing it all. Then, I remember what happened Friday morning. "I forgot to tell you. Jonathan came up to me on Friday and accused us of sneaking around behind Nancy's back."Â
Steve nearly chokes on a fry. "What?" He coughs.Â
"He saw you climbing out of my window," I explain.Â
"Well-" He starts to panic. "Well did you tell him we're just friends?"Â
"No, I told him we're having a wild, passionate, affair," I sass. "Of course, I told him!"Â
He releases a sigh of relief, holding his chest.Â
Geez, he's so dramatic.Â
"Maybe I should apologize to her," he determines.Â
My brows scrunch together. "For what?"Â
"Good point... Do you think he'll tell her?"Â
I shrug, how am I supposed to know? "I don't know. Probably not," I remark a tad more annoyed than intended. "Have they talked lately?"Â
"He drove her home that night. I told him to," he tells me.Â
"Oh..." I mumble, allowing my focus to wander outside.Â
Steve shifts in his seat to face me. "Do you think he knows I was at your place?"Â
"I don't know..."Â
He huffs, tossing his head back stressfully. "How did things get this fucked up?"Â
I reach across the divider and place my hand over his gently. "It'll work out."Â
He sighs, his eyes meet mine worriedly. "You really think so?"Â
I hum to reassure him, but frankly, I have no idea. I just don't have the heart to tell him the truth. Plus, it hurts to watch him worry about Nancy when a piece of me is selfishly happy that they're over.Â

(Not my photo, credit to whoever made it!)
My Father was a bad guy. Heâs associated with one of the worst people Iâve ever met, Hiram Lodge. He was the absolute worst person, especially with how he was trying to buy up the area where my cousin lives! My Father didnât seem to give any fucks about the ârejectâ side of the family. I was done with his shit. I packed my stuff up and decided I was gonna move to Riverdale. I had called my cousin Toni before I made the decision and she agreed to let me stay there, after she talked our Nana of course. I was so excited to see her, itâs been forever! I made sure I grabbed some money from my Father and left for Riverdale. When I got there I knew no one from the Northside of town went there, so I started my walk from the bus stop. Lucky for me I didnât bring everything I had, so it was easy to carry my shit. Once I crossed over to the Southside, I could instantly see the difference. It was like the town didnât give a shit about this side. Toni really wasnât lying. I was pretty sure I was close to the trailer park, but honestly wasnât sure. I looked down at my phone to call Toni, but I ended up walking into someone.Â
âHey, watch it bitch!â The guy growled and I looked up to see a guy in a black studded vest and dark eyeliner on.Â
âSorry dude, no need to be an asshole.â I said and went to keep walking, but he grabbed my arm and stopped me.Â
âYouâre new around here, clearly, so let me tell you how this works. Iâm with the best gang in town, The Ghoulies, and you canât talk that way to me. So, youâre gonna make it up to me.â He said with a smirk and looked me up and down. I rolled my eyes and got out of his grip.Â
âYeah right, idiot.â I said and continued walking. I thought that would just be the end of it, but he grabbed me and slammed me against a wall. I hit my head, but it was probably just gonna leave a killer headache.Â
âNow youâre really gonna have to make it up to me.â He growled and pulled out a knife. My eyes widened and I gulped.Â
âBe a good girl and you wonât get hurt.â He smirked. I felt my blood run cold and I knew what was about to happen.Â
âHey! Get the fuck off her!â Someone shouted and the guy looked back to see a tall guy with a snake tattoo on his neck. He must be with the Serpents, like Toni!Â
âThis isnât your business Snake.â He growled.Â
âI said-â Tall guy said, pulling out his own knife.Â
âGet the fuck off her.â He growled, stepping closer to him. The guy holding me had fear flash in his eyes, but recovered quickly.Â
âWhatever, bitch aint even worth it.â He said and shoved himself off me. He ran off and the tall guy walked up to me, putting his knife away.Â
âYou alright?â He asked and I nodded, picking some of my stuff off the ground.Â
âThanks, I just got into town and clearly donât know much.â I said and he chuckled.Â
âClearly. What are you doing here anyway? Who the hell wants to come to Riverdale?â He asked and I gave a small smile.Â
âIâm moving in with my cousin.â I answered and his eyes widened slightly.Â
âIs your cousin Toni Topaz?â He asked and my smile grew.Â
âYeah, do you know her?â I asked and he smiled.Â
âSheâs one of my best friends.â He chuckled.Â
âThank God, I was just about to call her because I might be a little lost.â I laughed.Â
âWhere are you trying to go?â He asked.Â
âSunnyside Trailer Park.â I answered and he laughed.Â
âYeah, youâre a little lost. How about I give you a ride.â He offered and I smiled.Â
âReally? Thatâd be great!â I said and he walked over to his bike.Â
âHop on.â He said. I got on the back, while keeping my stuff on my arms, and wrapped my arms around his waist.Â
âIâm Sweet Pea by the way.â He said and I smiled.Â
âY/N Y/L/N.â I answered and he smiled back.
âHold on tight.â He said and we sped off. Iâve never been on a motorcycle before, but I was loving it! We made it to Toniâs trailer pretty quickly and Sweet Pea helped me carry my stuff to the door. I knocked and Toni answered with a huge smile.Â
âY/N/N!â She said and pulled me in for a hug.Â
âSweet Pea? What are you doing here?â She asked, confused.Â
âY/N here got herself into trouble with a Ghoulie, I was riding by and saved her.â He answered and Toniâs eyes widened.Â
âWhat? Are you okay?â He asked and I smiled.Â
âIâm fine T, Sweet Pea saved me before that idiot could do anything.â I said and she sighed in relief.Â
âWell, thanks Pea.â She said and Sweet Pea smiled back.Â
âOf course Toni.â He said.Â
âAlright, well Iâll see you later tonight.â She said and Sweet Pea nodded.Â
âWhy donât you come along?â He asked.Â
âWhere?â I asked.Â
âThe Wyrm. Itâs the bar I work at and also the Serpents hang out.â She answered and I shrugged.Â
âYeah sure, sounds like fun.â I smiled.Â
âAwesome, well Iâll see you guys later, I gotta go meet up with Fangs.â Sweet Pea said and left.Â
âFangs?â I asked and Toni chuckled.Â
âIâll introduce you later.â She said, pulling me inside.Â
âWhy does everyone have such weird names around here?â I asked and she laughed.Â
âTheyâre nicknames, Iâm sure youâll get your own soon enough.â She said.Â
The two of us spend the day unpacking and catching up. I realized that I didnât know my cousin as well as I thought I did. I mean, how the hell did I not know she was bisexual!? She said that she was more into girls than guys though. Talking with her made me realize I made the right decision to come here. When it hit seven she told me we were going to the bar. I was excited to see where she worked, it sounded like a really cool place. When we got there everyone looked our way, most people greeted Toni and looked at me weirdly.Â
âYo Toni! Over here!â A short guy shouted and Toni pulled me along with her.Â
âHey guys, this is my cousin Y/N, Y/N this is Fangs, Jughead, and well you met Sweet Pea already.â She introduced me.Â
âToni! Letâs go!â An older man called her and she looked at me.Â
âSorry, gotta work. Jones, mind keeping an eye on these two for me?â She asked.Â
âWhat? Why us?â The short guy, Fangs, asked.Â
âBecause, I donât trust you two around my cousin.â She said and Sweet Pea rolled his eyes.Â
âI literally saved her from a Ghoulie earlier.â He said and Toni just shrugged. âDonât care, you two are the biggest flirts in the world and I wouldnât be surprised if you got her drunk.â She said and walked off.Â
âSheâs always been protective.â I laughed.Â
âI think Toni left something out when she was telling us about you.â Fangs said and I furrowed my brow.Â
âWhat?â I asked.Â
âShe didnât mention how cute you are.â He said and I couldnât help but blush.Â
âThis is exactly why Toni asked me to watch you too.â Jughead said, rolling his eyes.Â
âYo Hogeye! Two beers!â Sweet Pea called and the man that called my cousin nodded. He brought Sweet Pea two beers and he offered one to me. I smiled and took it from him.Â
âThatâs the other reason.â Jughead sighed.Â
âSheâll be fine Jones.â Sweet Pea said and I smiled.Â
âYeah, itâs just one beer.â I said.Â
Getting to know Toniâs friends was awesome! Jughead shared the same sense of humor I did, he was smart, passionate, and just seemed like heâd be an awesome friend. Fangs was really cool, he was a flirt, but not as much as Sweet Pea was, and he seemed genuinely caring and sweet. Sweet Pea clearly had a sense of loyalty, but had a short temper. I knew that I would get along with everyone easily and I would really like living here.Â
*Six Months Later*Â
Iâve been here for half a year now and I havenât heard anything from my Father, surprisingly. I had joined the Serpents, which everyone was very supportive of. Toni felt more like a sister to me than a cousin now and it was amazing. Jughead and I were good friends, but Sweet Pea and Fangs had become my best friends. I found myself crushing on both of them for different reasons and I felt a little guilty about itâŠÂ
I was currently at the bar working, but Toni had off tonight. She was helping Nana with something at home. I was watching Sweets and Fangs playing pool and smiled at the boys. They were betting like always and I smirked, Sweet Pea was bound to win, like always. I have never once seen Fangs beat him. The two of them walked up to the bar and Sweet Pea looked very smug, while Fangs looked sad.Â
âLet me guess, Fangs is buying again?â I asked.Â
âYou know it Angel.â Sweets said with a smirk.Â
âMaybe youâll buy for me too when I get off in an hour?â I asked, batting my eyelashes slightly.Â
âOf course Cutie, anything for you.â Fangs said and I felt my heart flutter at each of their nicknames for me.Â
âPerfect, well here you go, two beers.â I said, placing the bottles on the bar.Â
When I finally got off work I went to go find my two friends. I thought they would just be at the bar, but they werenât. I was confused and decided to look near the pool table, sure enough they were there playing another game.Â
âI thought you guys already played your game for tonight? What are you doing an all or nothing thing?â I asked and the two turned to face me.Â
âUh, yeahâŠâ Fangs said and I looked at the two confused.Â
âWhat are you guys betting this time?â I asked and they looked at each other.Â
âIf you wanna try and come up with a lie, you might wanna be a little more discreet about it.â I said with a small smirk. Sweet Pea sighed and looked back at me.Â
âFine, we were playing to see who got to ask you outâŠâ He said and my eyes widened.Â
âW-What?â I asked with a blush.Â
âHypothetically, who would you say yes to?â Fangs asked with a hopeful smile.Â
âDude, you canât just ask her that!â Sweets said.Â
âWhy not? Itâs not like we can just finish the game and do the bet now.â He said and the two looked back at me.Â
âSo?â Fang asked.Â
âU-Uh, honestly?â I asked and they nodded.Â
âBoth of you.â I answered and their eyes widened.Â
âWhat?â They asked at the same time.Â
âHonestly, I have a crush on both of you. Iâve been feeling a little guilty about it because youâre both amazing and if I dated one I would still like the other and that just not fair.â I answered and they looked at each other then smiled.Â
âWhat if you didnât have to date just one?â Fangs asked.Â
âHuh?â I asked.Â
âWhat if you dated both of us?â Sweets asked and my eyes widened.Â
âWhat, like a poly relationship?â I asked and they nodded.Â
âAnd you both would be alright with that?â I asked.Â
âHey, if I have to share you with someone Iâd rather it be my best friend.â Sweets answered.Â
âYeah, besides weâve hooked up with each other before so thereâs clearly some feelings there.â Fangs laughed and my eyes widened.Â
âReally?â I asked and they nodded. A smile slowly made its way onto my face and I looked at the two boys I was attracted to.Â
âI think this is a great idea.â I said and Sweets instantly pulled me to him.Â
âYou have no idea how happy you just made me with those words Angel.â He said and kissed me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him back.Â
âHey! Sheâs my girl now too!â Fangs whined and pulled me away from Pea and crashed his lips onto mine. I smiled and laughed slightly.Â
âHey!â Sweets growled and I pulled away from Fangs.Â
âAlright, rule number one, no fighting over each other.â I said and they looked at each other.Â
âFine, but he canât hog you!â They said at the same time and I laughed.Â
âYou two were made for each other.â I said and hugged both of them. This town just keeps getting better for me!

masterlist | a joyful future masterlist | ajf faq | requests closed!
Itâs always tough to spend time away from home when you arenât on a case, but a conference kept you from your boys the last couple of days, on Straussâs request. Aaron was none too happy about it, but as the junior-most agent in the unit (even with five years under your belt), the shitty seminars and professional development events fell on your shoulders.Â
Even though you landed early in the morning, flying coach all the way back from California, there was a whole day with Jack waiting for you and Aaron upon your return. A rare Saturday - no case, no paperwork, just family.
You knock on the door with a knuckle, unable to reach your keys around your bags and breakfast.Â
Aaron opens the door with a âHey!â coated in laughter, kissing your cheek. Heâs still in his pajamas.Â
You squint at him. âAm I early?â
He snorts. âNever. Weâre running late.â He takes the takeout bags and coffee from your hands. âThank you for breakfast.âÂ
âOf course. I wanted -âÂ
Jack runs across the apartment and slams into you full force. âYouâre home!âÂ
You curl around him, your hands on his head and shoulder as he cuddles into you. âI am! I missed you.â
âI missed you, too.â
His voice is muffled by your shirt and it makes you smile. You glance at Aaron over Jackâs head to find a smile.Â
âCome look at our fort!â Jack, wearing a blanket cape, takes you by the hand and brings you into the dining room, where the dining room table has been turned into a massive fort fit for a king.Â
Or, rather, two kings.Â
âOh my goodness, Jack. This is incredible, little bug. Your architectural prowess knows no bounds.â You look up at Aaron from your place on the floor. âWhereâs your cape?âÂ
His deadpan, as usual, never fails to make you laugh. âUh, Iâm wearing it.âÂ
Jack continues to drag you all the way under the table until youâre laying on your bellies in the little slap-dash shelter.
Aaron flops down on the floor on the other side of Jack. âWe slept in here all night.âÂ
âReally? That sounds like so much fun.âÂ
What you mean is, What, with your bad back?Â
âMmhmm,â he replies, only to really say -Â
Yep. I feel like shit.Â
âCan we sleep in here again tonight, Dad?â Jack asks, turning to Aaron. âAll together?âÂ
You exchange a glance with Aaron, who laughs.Â
So much for grown-up plans...
+++
Youâre both scrambling to get ready for the bike ride across the mall and day at the Smithsonian when the phone call comes in.Â
âHotchner,â Aaron says, still at the counter, tucking his phone under his chin as he finishes packing the rest of the picnic basket.Â
He freezes, hastily bagging some carrots and putting them in the basket before holding the phone in his hand and leaning heavily against the counter. âYouâre kidding.âÂ
Thatâs not a good tone.Â
Jack looks up at you, and you rest your hands on his chest over his shoulders, backing him into you as you watch Aaron with your lip between your teeth.Â
âDid they raise the terror alert?â
Shit.Â
âOkay. Thatâs for the best. UmâŠâ He checks his watch. âIâll get down there now. YeahâŠ.Do you need the rest -âÂ
With a huff, he meets your eyes and nods.Â
You let out a sigh and kiss Jackâs head. He knows the drill and runs off for your phone, still charging in the bedroom.Â
âUnderstood, maâam. Iâll be there first. We gotta get Jack squared away but Iâll get going while -â He pauses, probably interrupted by Strauss again. âThank you...Yes...Iâll be there as soon as I can and the rest of the team will meet at the scene.âÂ
You know that also means you. You also canât ignore the prick of anxiety that shoots through your belly, knowing heâll likely be in danger without you for at least a half-hour.Â
Jack returns with your phone, Jessica already on the line.Â
+++
Aaron, of course, leaves right away while you wait for Jess.Â
You sit on the couch with Jack. âIâm so sorry, buddy. Weâll have to do a big day, just the three of us, another time.âÂ
Jack shrugs. âItâs okay. Sometimes you just gotta catch the bad guys.âÂ
The offhand nature of his understanding strikes you as instantly hilarious, and he laughs with you when you double over, wiping tears from your eyes.Â
âYeah. Sometimes you just do, kiddo.âÂ
+++
When you finally arrive at the scene, Daveâs already set up hostage negotiation. You cross the street, finding Will and JJ huddled with Emily and Derek.Â
âYou okay?â You ask, placing your hand on Willâs shoulder. Heâs not just JJâs not-husband. Heâs your friend, too, all on his own.Â
âYeah, jusâ fine.â He shakes his head. âJusâ a little rattled, is all.âÂ
âUnderstandable.âÂ
His mouth presses into a thin line as he exhales. âThanks.â He checks his watch. âYâall should get on back. I think Strauss just showed up.â
JJ kisses his cheek and trots off to meet the rest of the unit. After another hug for Will, you follow suit.Â
+++
âThe media's calling them the Face Cards. Seven bank robberies in seven months. They've killed one person at each robbery.â Aaron leads the rest of you to the trailer, where the monitors are all set up.Â
Dave furrows his brow. âM. O.?âÂ
âSingle gunshot wound. Each of the victims has bled out.âÂ
That doesnât make much sense.Â
You jump in. âSerial killers with a 30-day cooling-off period and we're only just hearing about this now?âÂ
âWell, headquarters has always characterized them robbers first and killers second,â Aaron replies, glancing back at you. You roll your eyes.Â
Of course they did.Â
âNo one kills seven people without serious psychopathic tendencies,â Spencer notes. Heâs more than right, and you thought the same thing - itâs almost like he took the words out of your mouth.Â
âI disagreed with the original assessment. I was overruled.â Aaronâs bland version of frustration is clear in his tone, but he knows, just as you do, that ship has sailed. All you can do now is handle whatâs in front of you.Â
âSo why are we here now?â Dave asks.Â
âBecause crisis negotiation is overseas.âÂ
Aaron starts to walk again as JJ asks after more information. Aaron usually rattles it off pretty quickly, but with the quick start this morning, you know he trusts the rest of you to ask the questions you need. âWhat more do we know about them?Â
âThey're organized, they're efficient. Each strike lasts about two minutes.âÂ
Derek, walking beside you, finally joins the conversation. âThey gotta be scouting the banks in advance. Why haven't we been able to identify them off of surveillance footage?âÂ
âThey hack the security feed and turn off the cameras, both during the initial canvass and during the robbery, until the masks come back on, and then we're allowed to watch.â Aaron leads you all into the tactical staging truck, watching the security feeds.Â
+++
As you continue to watch, the scene becomes clearer, the power dynamics more tangible.Â
Dave sees it, too. âThey're using the hostages as human shields.âÂ
JJ, with Will beside her, studies the footage, watching the Queen run around while the King finds himself preoccupied with the Jackâs wound. âThis is the first time they've been interrupted. What went wrong?â
âIt's a big bank,â Emily says. âIt's possible they weren't about to round everybody up before someone triggered an alarm.âÂ
Thatâs a fair point, but you ask your question anyway. âWhy haven't they cut the feed now that they've been cornered?â
Derek, still beside you, answers. âLetting us see inside gives up a tactical advantage. They gotta know that.âÂ
They don't seem to care,â Aaron says, from your other side.Â
Youâre all silent for another minute, watching to see what happens next. Even though their plans went awry, the team still looks fairly calm and collected, all things considered.Â
JJâs frown only deepens. âThey're overconfident. Arrogant, even.âÂ
âThe face card masks add to their narcissism.â Spencerâs voice comes from the end of the line. âTheir personas are the royalty of poker.âÂ
You nod - itâs a great point - while Aaron starts making assignments. Â
âJJ, Reid, and Prentiss, look at past robberies. That's gonna be our victimology. Pull another analyst if you need to.â He turns to you, then Dave, on his other side. âI want you two to handle negotiations. And, Morgan, strategize tactical options with MPD.âÂ
You shuffle, gathering your radio and earpiece from the charger next to Penelopeâs computer.Â
When the rest of the team leaves, you hang back with Dave, keying into the radio channels and standing by for further instruction - you know thereâs more for you in the trailer at the moment.Â
Further instruction, though, may have to wait. Strauss climbs the steps into the rig and Aaron greets her. âChief Strauss.âÂ
âThe Director ordered me to supervise your operation.âÂ
Of course he did.Â
âPuts you right in the spotlight,â Dave says, not unkindly. Itâs almost fond.Â
You canât help but hold back a little bit of a smile. If the situation were reversed and it was Aaron at the helm, youâd be proud of him, too.Â
âWell, you've got gunmen with hostages in the Capital. The Hill's concerned.âÂ
Aaron nods, gesturing to you and Dave. âWe're about to open lines of communication.â
âWhat about a tactical assault?â
The three of you shake your heads as Aaron responds. âI don't think it's a good idea. There are hostages in front of the doors and windows.âÂ
Erin, finally onboard, turns to Dave. âWhat's your negotiation strategy?âÂ
âThe Jack's bleeding out. They'll ask for medical attention.âÂ
You hum, a little skeptical, and look back at the feed. âThe female unsub might have something to say about that. Look at her body language.âÂ
Dave follows your gaze. âShe is cold and detached. The King seems genuinely concerned about his partner's welfare. But she couldn't give a damn.âÂ
Your eyebrows raise. âThe men probably know each other.âÂ
Aaron, picking up on your train of thought, flags Penelope, âGarcia?âÂ
She turns in her chair, already typing. âShuffling my techno-fabulous deck of databases, sir.âÂ
And so it begins.Â
+++
âIâll do the talking - Iâll need to establish some rapport with them, but Iâll need you keeping the team updated and coordinating any allowances or personnel as things come up, okay?âÂ
You nod, a little smile pulling at the side of your mouth. âYou got it.âÂ
Dave claps your shoulder. âYouâll be in this chair one day, so pay attention.âÂ
âYes, sir.âÂ
He dials in and the phone starts ringing through the speaker. Youâll be able to hear everything.Â
âWho the hell's this?â You check the monitor. The King picked up the phone.Â
Obviously, the Jack canât pick up the phone, stupid, heâs bleeding out!
âMy name is David Rossi. I'm with the FBI. To whom am I speaking?âÂ
The King doesnât address the question, but rather looks back toward his fallen compatriot. âAll right, I want a doctor sent in, and then I want out of here.âÂ
Dave checks his watch. âWell, we certainly can discuss that. Let the hostages go and we'll give you all the medical help you need.âÂ
You take a mental note. Your memories from Daveâs lectures at the academy are fuzzy at best, and you havenât had very much time handling these things in the field. The last time a major hostage crisis was at hand, you were a hostage yourself.Â
A shot hostage, if the chronic nerve pain in your shoulder is any reminder.Â
âI can't do that. I need the leverage.âÂ
âHow about a sign of good faith? Send out the women and children and I'll see what I can do.âÂ
You watch as the King takes the phone away from his mouth. You can vaguely hear him update the Queen, but sheâs not having it. She pulls a child from the lineup and your lower lip disappears between your teeth.Â
A man, you presume the girlâs father, speaks to the Queen before she shoots him in the abdomen. The King gets back on the line.Â
âYou better send in some more help or more people are gonna die.â He hangs up.Â
Shit.Â
+++
âYouâre not seriously considering sending an agent in there?â You turn on Hotch and he sighs, pressing his fingers to the bridge of his nose.Â
âWe donât have much of a choice. Iâm not the authority on-site and with the director pressing Strauss, thereâs not much I can do.âÂ
The two of you are alone for the time being, so youâre able to rib him for a second to lighten the tension.Â
âWhatâs the point of being unit chief if you canât lord it over everyone all the time?âÂ
You're rewarded with a shadow of a smile and a snort. âDonât be ridiculous. I lord it over you plenty.âÂ
âNot enough.â Your tone is childish, the words murmured under your breath.Â
When he walks away, he taps the side of your ass with the back of his hand. If you werenât in a professional setting, you could mistake it for a promise.Â
But, Aaron, that would be unprofessional!
You turn to look at him and just catch his wink as he hops up the steps behind Strauss.Â
+++
With Garciaâs magic and Aaronâs genius, you figure out that the men are related.Â
While Rossi hops on the next phone call, you help Derek outfit the medic with a bug and a weapon.Â
âWe're sending in the medic now, Chris. Tell Oliver help is on the way.âÂ
Derek nods at the medic and he hops off, heading into the bank. You jog over to the trailer only to find a humorously horrified look on Straussâs face.Â
âIs sheâŠâÂ
You get closer, looking up at the monitor.Â
â...putting on lipstick?âÂ
You scoff. âSheâs vain. Only contributes to a profile of vanity and narcissism. She likes to be seen - this is a game for her.âÂ
You jog back out before Strauss can respond, taking your place between Aaron and Derek.Â
âGreen. You gotta go. Green. Go,â Derek says into his mic.Â
The agent-turned-medic makes a move and immediately gets a shot between the eyes for his trouble. Your hand files over your mouth and Derek ducks away, taking a second.Â
Well, that couldnât have been any worse.Â
You look at Aaron, still staring at the screen, beside you. Heâs thinking the same thing.Â
+++
Derek walks up to you, kevlar and sunglasses firmly in place. âTactical's been deployed, snipers are moving into position.âÂ
At your questioning look, Strauss clarifies. âThe Director's ordered a full tactical assault.âÂ
The look doesnât leave your face. âHis last orders cost us an agent.âÂ
Radio transmissions fly one ear and out the other, not to mention the flurry of activity around the negotiation tent. Before Strauss can reply, Willâs call shoots past you to Aaron.
âSWAT's getting itchy fingers.âÂ
Aaron turns, covering his comm mic at his chest. âYou remind SWAT that bank robberies are federal jurisdiction. No one fires until they're ordered to.âÂ
âRight.âÂ
Will disappears and you suppress a little pleased shudder. Aaronâs very much in control now and it is doing things to your body that are better suited for, well, anywhere else. You tighten the velcro across your chest as if to compress another rush of⊠nothing useful.Â
Aaron turns back to you, Dave, Derek, and Strauss. âAll right, when the crossfire starts, what's gonna happen to the hostages caught in the middle?âÂ
The question is a trap, and Dave doubles down. âThat's the wrong call, Erin, and you know it.âÂ
Strauss falters for a minute, leveling with the rest of you. âIt's not my call.âÂ
Aaron doesnât let up. âYou're here and you're in charge.â His tone is sharper than yours would be in the same situation, but youâre nearly fifteen years younger and a whole four steps down on the totem pole.Â
Not for the first time, a rush of affection and gratitude for him crests over your in a wave and you have to look away, taking a deep breath to collect yourself. When you look back, heâs watching you.Â
Iâm okay.Â
He nods as Erin speaks again.Â
âSo you want me to disobey the Director?â Erin sounds dubious, at best.Â
Dave responds quickly. âYes.âÂ
Aaron amends, and if the situation wasnât so tense his correction would almost be funny. âNo. I just want you to buy us a little time.â He pauses, wavering for a second as he rephrases. âDon't be quite so efficient.âÂ
Youâre never surprised by Aaronâs political savvy, but it is a nice reminder that he can run circles around every bureaucrat in the district if given the chance.Â
âWhatever you're gonna do, do it fast.â
+++
âItâs an impossible ask, Dave. You know JJ will never go for it.âÂ
âItâs not up to JJ.â Aaronâs voice approaches from behind you. âItâs the directorâs call, but mine first.âÂ
He comes to rest beside you as Dave leaves the two of you alone.Â
âWhat are you gonna do?â You look at Aaron, finding his eyes trained on the monitor, arms crossed over his chest.
He sighs. âIf it was you he asked for...âÂ
You bump his shoulder. âWhat, not interested in feeding me to serial killers today?âÂ
Itâs a loaded joke, especially for the two of you, but after Emily, youâre past such things. If the situation were reversed, Haley would never stop giving you hell for getting serial-killed the way she did. Itâs only fair to return the favor.Â
âOver my dead body, baby.â He reaches down to squeeze your hand for a second before letting you go. âDo me a favor?âÂ
âAnything.âÂ
âStay here.âÂ
+++
You can hear JJâs anguished shouts from here, beside Dave and the phone.Â
Derek has a good enough hold on her, Emily and Aaron protecting him from JJâs wild elbows. Sheâs beside herself but eventually breaks free and sprints back toward the trailer. You turn to follow her, just in time to hear a gunshot.Â
Will.
+++
Youâre all gathered in the trailer as JJ asks the same questions over and over again. Garcia, just like the first time, doesnât have any answers.Â
The static on the monitors is nearly deafening in its silence.Â
JJ looks at you for a moment and takes a shaky breath before looking at Hotch. Her eyes are red-rimmed and her voice is broken when she speaks. âAaron.â
You know heâs never been able to deny her anything. In the entire time youâve known him, itâs one of the few things that hasnât changed.Â
His eyes donât budge from hers. âWeâre going in.â
+++
You press the heels of your hands to your eyes, trying to stem the stinging from the heat and debris. Your ears ring and youâve got a scrape on your chin from where you face-planted into the asphalt.Â
Eventually, you remove your hands and open your eyes to the early summer sunshine. Your bias is clear enough - Aaronâs the first one you look for and the first one you find.
Heâs looking a little dazed and more than a little ruffled, but alive.Â
Ignoring the whine in your ears and swiping some blood off your face, you jog over to him, taking stock of him from head to toe. âYou alright?â
He doesnât answer right away, and you realize he probably canât hear you. An image of Kate reaching for you and the smell of blood flashes into your head, but you push it away.Â
His earâŠ
âAaron?â You lay a hand on his shoulder and he startles a little, meeting your eyes and coming back to himself all at once.Â
He puts his hands on your shoulders, tipping your jaw up with one finger to examine your chin. âYouâre hurt.â
âHoney, Iâm fine. Your earâŠâ You follow a small trickle of blood up the side of his neck, rounding him to get a better look. Just as youâd feared, his bad ear is bleeding again.Â
He waves off your concern and taps his comm mic, calling for support in quick, clear soundbites. You snag the back of his vest before he can get too far away from you.Â
âAs soon as youâre done with that, please get it looked at.â
With a sigh, he nods and gestures to your chin. âI will if you do.â
You roll your eyes.Â
âWhereâs Emily?â You hear Morgan ask JJ as they get their bearings around you.Â
With a start, you follow them into the building, attached to a couple of SWAT agents. You know Aaron will get after you for going in before everythingâs cleared by bomb squad, but you canât keep still.Â
The heartache you feel for JJ supersedes anything else going on in your head. Itâs something that plagues you all the time - the both of you doing this job. Losing Aaron in the field is a stark reality you can hardly consider at any point, especially when evidence of its reality is right in front of you.Â
+++
Aaron canât help himself - he pulls you close after youâre both released by the paramedics, pressing a kiss to your head. Itâs almost desperate as he leans back and pulls your collar from your vest, his hands smoothing over your shoulders.Â
âI need to debrief SWAT and first responders - can you stay with Dave and help with the media?âÂ
âOkay. Let me know if you need any extra hands - Iâll send âem right over.âÂ
He smiles at you, soft, small, and affectionate. âThank you.âÂ
+++
You pull your phone from your pocket.Â
She picks up on the second ring. âYeah?â
âHey, Jess.âÂ
âHey.â She pauses. âYou okay?â
With a shaky sigh, you reply. âYeah. Iâm fine. Aaronâs fine.âÂ
âI heard about the explosion. Is there anything I can do?âÂ
âNo, weâre fine. Just...Just stay out of the city.â After another breath. âIs Jack okay?âÂ
She laughs a little. âYeah. Heâs fine. Heâs a little anxious but I turned off the TV and weâre headed out to the park for a little while.âÂ
âGood.â You look over at Aaron, who holds your eyes for a second before returning to his EMS strategy huddle.Â
âBe safe and come home to us soon, okay?âÂ
âYeah. We will. We love you. Tell Jack we -â
â - Of course.âÂ
+++
You follow Spencer through the debris once youâre done handling the media storm with Dave. Picking through the rubble, searching for something - anything - but not finding much.Â
Derekâs voice echoes through the ruined, cavernous space that used to be the main lobby. âEverything they've said and done was for a reason. But what doesn't make any sense is she switched the negotiation demand. Chris wanted to go to Switzerland. She changed it to Chad.âÂ
âThey also requested a private plane,â you note, âbut no mention of a pilot.âÂ
Spencer stops, and you almost run into him. Emily stops as well, looking back at the pair of you as Spencer organizes his thoughts. When heâs ready to speak, he says, âGuys, if you think about it, even the dates mean something. In 2004, while she was wreaking havoc abroad, he was dishonorably discharged. Then in 2008, they likely met in Chad. And now this in 2012.âÂ
Good thought. But then again, when is one of Spencerâs thoughts bad?Â
Itâs a decent enough question, and you run the gamut of all the surprising and absurd things Spencerâs said in your presence over the years. One in particular comes to mind.Â
Evil twin, eviler twin.Â
You hold back a little laugh, despite the harrowing circumstances.Â
Yeah, that one was pretty bad.Â
âOkay.â Derek grabs your attention again. âSo, is it a coincidence that those are all election years and they attacked D.C.? Maybe this is a political statement.âÂ
Emilyâs eyes are stuck on something on the ground, but youâre not sure if itâs what sheâs really looking at. âNo. It's more personal than that. It's their story.âÂ
Derekâs brow pinches. âWhat?âÂ
âAll of the details are a part of their story.âÂ
She starts to leave through one of the shattered windows and you follow her back to the trailer, Spencer and Derek not far behind. She hops up the steps and you take your place beside Aaron once youâre all inside. Itâs much cozier in here, with eight of you.Â
Spencer fills the rest of the team in on your conversation inside. Unsurprisingly, itâs rote - read like a cold script.Â
Emily picks up when heâs done. âTheir timeline suggests they were both destructive before they met.âÂ
âSo we're talking about ex-military turning on their country.â Strauss looks and sounds skeptical, but you canât blame her. In American culture, itâs rather incongruous.Â
Now who sounds like Spencer?
âIt's rare, but soldiers become disenfranchised no matter what the nationality. And if he met someone like-minded at that time, there'd be no stopping them.â
âSo you're thinking they met during the civil unrest in Chad in '08.â Aaronâs voice isnât skeptical - more probing. You can see the wheels turning behind his eyes.Â
âYeah,â Spencer says. âAnd one or both of them are pilots.â
âSo if Garcia concentrates on that region,â Emily points to an area on a map, lit up on the monitor, âspecifically weapons running in and out of Libya, there's a good chance we'll find their paths crossed.â
Penelope types furiously for a moment, her fingers flying over the keys. âOkay, multiple entries into Libya for a private pilot named Matthew Downs in '08, but I don't have her name.âÂ
âWell, because she had aliases. It's the only way to stay a ghost.âÂ
Looks like Emilyâs Interpol knowledge is coming in handy.Â
She continues. âHere's the thing - they are a couple. Regardless of what we believe of them, they will celebrate themselves and their connection.â She turns to Penelope, a thought sparking behind her eyes. âIs there anything that happened on this date in Chad?â
âOh, you are good, Emily Prentiss.â Penelope types for a moment and you lean forward, watching her work. âBut this news is not. Yes, there were multiple explosions on this date in '08.âÂ
Aaron speaks from beside you. Heâs a little closer than you thought, and it startles you a little.Â
In fairness, youâre still jumpy from the explosion.Â
âWhere were the most casualties?âÂ
âAt a church-- no, no, a train. Yep.âÂ
Morgan squints at the photos of the hulled-out building. âSemtex and C-4?â
Penelope nods while Aaron turns toward Strauss. âAre trains still arriving at Union Station?â
âYes, but only the authorities are allowed in.â Thereâs a moment where she almost looks panicked, but collects herself as the rest of you gear up to leave.Â
Emily exhales down her nose. âThatâs why they needed Will.âÂ
+++
Aaron drives impossibly fast through the district. You sit in the back seat with Emily, holding onto the handles above the door for dear life.Â
Youâve never flashed your badge so many times in such a short period. Aaron tucked his badge into a strap of his vest, just to save time, but still has his credentials locked between his fingers as he drives. If you didnât trust him so much, it would freak you out a little. Â
+++
The comm in your ear crackles as Emily speaks. âI found Will.âÂ
âIs he mobile?â Aaronâs voice comes both from beside you and your comm - itâs a little disorienting, but you push through.Â
âNegative. He's got 6 transmitters on him and this whole place is gonna blow.â
Thereâs hardly a hesitation in Aaronâs steps as he processes the information. âAll right, where are you? I'm on my way.âÂ
Heâd like to think heâs made of steel.Â
Sometimes he is.Â
âNo,â Emily asserts. âYou gotta get everyone out. Is the bomb squad here yet?âÂ
âThey're 3 minutes away.âÂ
âCopy.â She sounds a little disappointed, or maybe frustrated, but doesnât say anything else.
He turns back to you, holding you by the shoulders. âI want you leading evacuation. Get out of here.âÂ
Tears prick at your eyes and honestly, this is the first moment youâve really been afraid. Existentially afraid. Afraid of walking out of this train station and leaving Aaron and Emily and Will to blow up. âIâll see you later?âÂ
âYep. Go.â He tries to push you away, but you resist.Â
âPromise?âÂ
His brown eyes soften as his mouth presses into a thin line. âCanât. I love you. Get outta here.âÂ
You bounce on your toes for a second, acutely aware youâre wasting valuable time, before yanking him forward to kiss his cheek before you sprint away from him, shouting instructions to the panicked crowd as you go.Â
+++
You catch up with Derek, racing to catch your suspect. He corners him in an alley but canât quite overpower him. You reach for your sidearm, but by the time you take aim, Downs is already on the ground, a gunshot ringing through the air.Â
Startled, you turn over your shoulder to find Aaron still staring down the sight of his Glock.Â
Could take an eye out, with that thing.
You sigh and holster your weapon. Derek looks plenty dazed and you donât blame him. Itâs not often heâs on the receiving end of a near-miss in close combat. He looks over your shoulder and you can see something pass between him and Aaron.Â
Maybe one day, Derek will know how much Aaron loves and respects him.Â
You watch Derek shake it off and stumble as he attempts to rise to his feet.Â
Today is not that day.Â
Coming to your senses, you trot forward and help him to his feet, brushing wayward asphalt off of him. You turn back to Aaron. âEverything alright?âÂ
He ignores you, pressing the mic at his chest as he begins to run back toward the station. âPrentiss, whatâs your status?â
+++
Seeing Will and Emily leave the building in one piece is a relief. You meet Aaronâs gaze and his eyes are exhausted. The gears in his head still whir. Heâs still in game-mode, and itâs a good thing.Â
With the logistical nightmare of two bomb threats in one day, thereâs a lot of work ahead of you.Â
+++
You swing back and forth in your desk chair, brain completely numb from the paperwork. Itâs been a long day, and youâve been up since three this morning, what with your flight back from California. Youâre certain youâve had longer days than this one, but youâre approaching twenty-one hours without sleep and it feels worse than you remember.Â
What were we planning to do today?
A bike ride and museum day with Jack seems impossibly long ago. Last week, maybe.
Derek and Emily sit on their desks, attempting to keep a conversation going without much luck.Â
They were house-hunting this morning.Â
Penelope slowly descends the stairs as Spencer turns in his seat. âThe conventionâs still happening tomorrow if you want to go.âÂ
They were at a convention this morning.Â
Everyone had lives this morning. Weird.
She makes an uncertain noise. âThat whole city-on-the-brink-of-destruction thing kinda took the wind out of my sails, you know?âÂ
You look up at her as she takes her place beside Spencer. âItâll get you every time.âÂ
âYou gotta watch out for that,â Emily adds. It makes you smile a little.Â
Derek looks a little less amused, reminding Emily theyâll have to finish the inspection another time. Between Spencer and Penelope, Emily cops to a crack in the foundation of her almost-home.Â
âThat does not sound good,â Penelope says. You canât help but agree.Â
Thereâs a weird look on Derekâs face, but you ignore it in favor of Straussâs descent on the stairs.Â
âOur unsub,â she says, âis Izzy Rogers. She'll be charged with multiple counts domestically, and our international counterparts will have their turn with her. She will never see the light of day.â A little smile graces her lips.Â
You realize with the tiniest of laughs (really - itâs a one on the Aaron Hotchner scale of laugher, which means itâs hardly noticeable to the naked eye) that you donât hate her or even dislike her as much as you used to. Maybe, you even want her around.Â
Donât push it. Â
âI just thought you'd like to know that.âÂ
The five of you murmur something that sounds like, âThank you, maâam.âÂ
She pulls Derek, probably to kick his ass for something or another and send herself back on your shit list.Â
Thatâs a problem for another time.Â
You take Izzy Rogersâs file from Emily, looking over an impressive rap sheet. Youâre happy for a few things.Â
The first - that Aaronâs not a federal prosecutor anymore. Thisâll be a case for the ages.Â
The second - youâll never have to think about her again.Â
The third - youâre not sure. Youâre sleep-deprived. Itâll come to you.Â
She cost me my precious eight hours and Iâll never forgive her.Â
Out of the corner of your eye, you see Aaron leave his office. You set the file down and look up at him, halfway-hoping for once heâll tell you to go home without him.Â
âDave wants to know if everyone is free tomorrow night.âÂ
Without any inflection at all, you reply. âWe better not be doing anything tomorrow night.âÂ
âWell,â Derek says, interrupting Emilyâs snort. âIf heâs buying, then Iâm definitely in.âÂ
Emily, Spencer, and Penelope jump onto Derekâs conditional acceptance and a rare smile pulls at Aaronâs face, his dimples on full display.Â
âHear that? Weâre in.âÂ
+++
When you get home, Aaron all-but carries you to bed. With the tenderest of hands, he removes your shoes and socks, unbuttons your pants, slides them down your legs, and throws them in the laundry basket.Â
Youâre practically wilting where you sit, feeling more and more like a sleepy toddler by the minute.Â
Aaron unbuttons your shirt and slips it off your shoulders, kissing each cheek in turn. âIâll start a shower.âÂ
You move to protest, but he strips and that mostly shuts you up. He starts the water before he returns to your side.
âI just want to sleep, Aar. Please.âÂ
âBaby,â he says, a fond little pleading note in his tone. âWe just changed the sheets. Do you really want to get semtex all over them?âÂ
With a huff - âNo.âÂ
He smiles and helps you to your feet. âDidnât think so.âÂ
Youâre so tired, it doesn't even cross your mind to take advantage of the shared shower or his lack of clothes. By the time he dries you off, tucks you in, and locks the bedroom door to ward off the over-eager six-year-old down the hall, youâre asleep.Â
His own exhaustion pulling at him, he doesnât have the time or energy to cherish how peaceful, safe, and warm you look. He just draws you close to him until he can feel your heartbeat.Â
Sleep takes him rapidly after that.Â
+++
As Will and JJ exchange their vows, you tuck further into Aaronâs arms. His whisper floats past your ear, barely audible. âWanna do that sometime?â
âWhat? Get married?â Your voice is just as quiet.Â
âMhmm.â
âOnly if itâs you.â
Thereâs a kiss pressed to your temple with a smile behind it. âI think I can make that happen.â
You turn your head to the side to keep your snark from carrying. âPlease donât propose to me right now. This weekendâs been long enough.â
Derek kicks the side of your foot from where he stands beside you, unable to hear the conversation but knowing you both well enough to keep you from tumbling down the rabbit hole of distraction.Â
Aaron presses another kiss to your temple. âI love you.â You feel it rather than hear it.
You pick up one of his hands and kiss the back of it. You donât need to say anything.Â
+++
Aaron holds you close as you dance together, surrounded by your family. JJ and Will sway back and forth nearby, wrapped entirely in each other. Erin and Dave have been surprisingly brave, dancing and laughing quietly together throughout the evening.Â
As nice as it was to just have something for the two of you, sharing your love with your family has its own set of perks. You donât have to hide anymore or justify your pigheaded protection of the other.Â
You can just⊠be.Â
+++
Eventually, Dave calls all the â...fortunately unmarried individuals to the dance floor,â and refuses to let anyone slip through the cracks.Â
When Aaron hangs back, drink in-hand and a little smile on his face, Dave calls him out. âDivorcĂ©s and widowers, too, câmon.â He pauses, finding another tactic when Aaron doesnât move. âIf youâre both, you get extra points!âÂ
Aaron rolls his eyes and you look around, finding an inappropriate amount of humor in JJâs confused relatives. You canât help but bark a loud laugh when you see how hard Derekâs trying to keep his mirth at bay.
Too soon for the dead wife jokes? He seems to ask. Can I laugh?Â
Something in your eyes gives him tacit permission and he nearly blinds you with his smile.Â
When Daveâs tricks fall short, you do your best to pull Aaron from the sideline with your best set of bedroom eyes. He courageously resists, so you give up and settle next to Anderson. âWhat do you think Daveâs come up with, this time?âÂ
âGod only knows.âÂ
Anderson, like the rest of you, knows that Daveâs hosting abilities know no bounds.Â
âBecause so many of you are joyfully unmarried, the newlyweds wanted to make sure there was someone else to suffer the slings and arrows of matrimony with them in the near future. Thus,â he opens his arm to JJ, who appears with her bouquet and a smile, âthe bouquet toss will be an equal-opportunity event.âÂ
With a laugh and a shake of your head, you prepare to duck out of the way.Â
You look over at Aaron. This is ridiculous.Â
He only shakes his head, hiding his smile behind his drink. And yetâŠ
He leaves the rest of the implication unsaid, but you flip him off for good measure. Your exchange must have taken longer than you thought because before you know it, you have a face full of white roses. Itâs over.Â
You pull the flowers from your face and level JJ with a glare across the dance floor. âReally?âÂ
She raises her eyebrows and shrugs. âI turned my back and everything.âÂ
There are whoops and hollers from your team and you can only roll your eyes. Derek and Will strong-arm Aaron onto the dance floor (you know he let them - if he really wanted to avoid you, they wouldnât be able to move him an inch), where youâre both cajoled into a kiss and a photo. Penelopeâs on the other side of the camera, grinning from ear to ear.Â
She waves at Aaron over the camera. âSmile for real, damn you!âÂ
She amends, adding, âSir,â for good measure. It has its intended effect and sheâs rewarded with a rare, bright laugh from her unit chief.Â
Absurd traditions aside, youâd be lying if said you stopped smiling even once.Â
+++
As the party settles, some couples stay out on the dance floor, sedately twirling and swaying to the music that continues to play across the yard.Â
You and Aaron have relaxed significantly since the Great Bouquet Debacle, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, the top two buttons of his shirt undone. Youâre sitting across his lap, playing with the hair at the nape of his neck, with one of his arms wrapped around your middle and the other draped over your knees - the picture of relaxation.Â
Penelope, Derek, Emily, and Will have taken up residence on the other side of the dance floor, their heads close together and voices low.
Aaronâs eyes slide over them as he watches the room, scanning out of habit. âWhat do you think theyâre talking about?â
You lean further into him as four pairs of eyes flicker over to you before returning to their huddle. âUs, probably.âÂ
He hums, understanding and pensive. âProbably our sex life, right?âÂ
âProbably,â you sigh, playing at boredom. He covers your hand with one of his and you play with his fingers - lacing, unlacing, kissing his knuckles.Â
Itâs nice to feel safe, comfortable enough to love each other where curious eyes can see you.Â
You can feel his smile against your forehead as he presses a kiss between your brows. Â
âI mean,â you continue, âthere is a lot to talk about.â
He shrugs, adjusting his arm where it lays across your legs to keep you both comfortable in the seat you share. âThatâs true enough. Though, I canât imagine any of their projections being right.â
+++
âI bet theyâre into likeâŠtantric sex. Like hours and hours and hours you know?â Penelope says, conspiracy the top note in her tone.Â
Derek looks at her and she backtracks, only a little on the defensive.Â
âWhat? Spencerâs talked to me about it before and I...read.âÂ
He rolls his eyes, but Emily spares Penelope from any further interrogation.Â
âI could see that.â She watches the way your fingers wander over Aaronâs bare forearm, playing with the ridges of his watch, the way his thumb absent-mindedly draws small circles on your outer thigh. âYeah, actually I think thatâs exactly what happens.â
+++
âWhat do you think theyâve got so far?âÂ
He plays at boredom. âTheyâre probably trying to take a guess at anything they can reach - with both of our profiles in Derekâs pocket, heâs going to have the most luck, I think.âÂ
âReally?â You ask. âNot Emily?âÂ
He snorts. âNo. She has her mind on other things.âÂ
That holds you up for a second, and youâre not sure if heâs still playing into the bit. âWait, what do you mean?âÂ
He shakes his head. âIâll tell you later.âÂ
âSheâs resigning, isnât she?â You give up the fun and lay your head in the crook between his neck and shoulder.Â
Without thinking, his hand rises to your cheek, affectionately brushing over your cheekbone before dropping back down. âShe might be.âÂ
âDid she do that thing where she sighs really big and then looks off to the upper right middle distance?âÂ
âYeah.âÂ
âShit.âÂ
Youâre both quiet for a moment, just enjoying the low lull of the music and the lights and the sights and smiles of your family.Â
âHey.âÂ
You lean back a little and meet Aaronâs eyes. âYeah?âÂ
âWhatâs my tell?âÂ
The concern drops out of your face all at once. âYou think Iâm gonna spill just like that so you can go and change it on me? Not a chance.âÂ
He sighs and his chin tips up in defeat. âSo I have one?âÂ
âOf course you do, stupid.â You flick his chest and a laugh rumbles through him. âEveryone does. You know mine, I know yours. Youâre gonna have to get over it.âÂ
âSo youâve caught me in lies before?â He asks, not without humor.Â
âDuh. Iâm pretty sure Iâve caught every lie youâve ever told, but you seemed so proud of yourself that I just let you have it.âÂ
You can almost feel the eye roll. âReally?â He sounds skeptical. âName one lie youâve caught me in.âÂ
âAlright.â You count off on your fingers. âYou dinged my car door a couple of weeks ago, you definitely didnât drop the bags at Goodwill, you do know it wasnât Jack who finished the ice cream in the freezer, you -âÂ
âOkay.â He covers your hands with his and kisses your fingers. âThatâs enough. I get it.âÂ
You kiss his cheek. âIâm sure youâve caught me in every single lie Iâve ever told, too, huh?âÂ
âOnly every once since the day we met. Yours is obvious.âÂ
Itâs a trap. You donât take it. âHmm. Thatâs convenient.âÂ
âIsnât it?âÂ
You lean back to look at him. âYouâre a shit, you know that?âÂ
He nods and raises his eyebrows, a cheeky, close-mouthed smile slowly creeping across his face.Â
You playfully smack his chest with the back of your hand. âFucker.âÂ
He says something under his breath and you level him with a look that has him repeating himself.Â
âI said, you wish.âÂ
You roll your eyes and tuck back into his neck, kissing the skin above his collar. You can feel him shiver and you know youâve got him. âNot just wish, honey. Know.âÂ

12 Days of Songfics:(10) New Year's Day
Song: New Yearâs Day by Taylor Swift
Character: Veronica Sawyer (Heathers)
Word Count: 595
đMasterlist | WIP Page
đ” Don't read the last page
But I stay when it's hard, or it's wrong, or we're making mistakes đ”
~~~
âYouâre out of booze.â
âMcNamara brought some over.â Veronica grinned, âShe told her dad that she was going to a party, and stole some of his vodka and wine bottles before he even gave her the car keys.â
âHeâd actually let her take his car?â You snorted, âEven after she totaled it two months ago?â
âShe pulled up in it earlier.â Veronica shrugged. âSo, are you gonna help me finish this vodka? Or am I gonna have to drink alone?â You smirked at her. You knew that she was challenging you and pushing you to drink with her. It always worked and she knew it. It was hard to say no to Veronica, especially when she looked at you like that.
âSoâŠ. What are we celebrating?â You sighed, pushing down the butterflies bouncing around your stomach.
âThe new year, duh!â
âI thought that you didnât give a shit about these holidays.â
âI donât.â Veronica paused, gesturing over to McNamara and Martha, laughing and joking. âBut, they do.â Veronica smiled and the sight of it made your heart melt. âBesides I think that after the crazy last few months weâve had, we have a fucking right to celebrate, donât we?â
She was right. Just for the past few months, they deserved to celebrate just because they could. Just because they were still here. As much as Veronica wanted things to be different after J.D. died, the school pretty much stayed the same as it had before any of that shit happened. Though, Martha, McNamara, Veronica, and you wouldnât forget. On the worst days, it was a never ending nightmare, haunting you for hours on end. On good days, you sometimes forgot that it even happened. You couldnât imagine how it must be for Veronica, who was much, much closer to J.D. than any of you.
âYeah.â
Silence. You took this moment to take in Veronicaâs peaceful gaze, as she absentmindedly fiddled with the vodka bottle with her fingers.
âAny new yearâs resolutions?â
âYeah,â Veronica snorted. âHow about âdonât date any sociopathsâ?â
âRonni-â
âI know, I know.â Veronica said, âI shouldnât joke about it so much.â She added. âMy therapist told me that I have a habit of doing that.â Veronica refused to move her eyes off of the half empty vodka bottle in her hands. She didnât want to see your expression. She couldnât let herself see the sadness and pity in your expression. She didnât want to. She knew that you meant well, but she has had enough of that shit. She just wanted to move on, already. Every time that she thought that she was past thisâevery time that she thought that she could be happy and normal again, she was sucked back into her guilt spiral.
âI want to spend more time with Martha, McNamara, and you.â
âWhat?â
âThatâs my resolution.â You smiled over at Veronica. âI want to spend more time with you all before we graduate and move all over the place.â
Veronicaâs eyes widened. Her head felt light, but swarming for something to say back. Anything, really. She dared take her eyes off the bottle in her hands, meeting your eyes.
âI want that too.â
âLetâs drink to that then,â You grin, raising your cup.
âTo the new year.â Veronica grinned, raising the bottle so that it met your plastic cup.
âTo new relationships.â
âTo new chances.â
âToâŠ.us?â You ask, intently watching Veronicaâs reaction, anxiety quickly filling your senses when she didnât immediately answer. Veronica smirked at you, despite her increasing knot in her stomach.
âTo us.â
~~~
đ” I want your midnights
But I'll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year's Day đ”

La Brea Season 2 Episode 7
Gavin
Eve do not playfully lift with him. Leave him alone.
Of course Levi interrupts the moment. I mean I donât want them to have a moment but damn Levi back up and let them breathe.
LIKE HELL BITCH THEY DIDNT DO ALL THIS JUST TO STILL BE STUCK IN THE PAST
No. GAVIN CAN NOT GO BACK AGAIN
Why not hold hands? Seems like a safer bet than hoping you donât get separated.
Oh you are holding hands.
GAVIN DONT LIE YOU SAW A VISION OF HER DEAD
What about holding the kids hands?
Levi
Donât get pissy cause sheâs spending time with him. She never thought sheâd see him again. Sheâs feeling sentimental.
Remember what happened last time you went with your plan and not Gavinâs?
Couldâve been avoided but of course you wanna go all lone wolf.
Oh you make me sick. You know why he started drinking.
HOW THE HELL CAN YOU DECIDE FOR THEIR FAMILY WHATâS BEST FOR THEM?!
Eve
Eve seriously? Izzy just said she didnât want all yâall to split up when yâall just got back together.
Do you really want it?
Izzy and Josh
Sibling bonding!
You were an ass Josh. Still are.
Izzyâs knows how eve feels. As much as she wants her family back together, she knows it might not happen.
Sam
Iâm with her. She has a point. I would take my chances with slow technology over a saber tooth tiger.
10000 BC
Gotta admit. Tahmet is kinda cute.
Lucas NOOOO YOU CANT DIE
I donât trust Tahmet but if he can heal Lucas Iâll take the chance.
Now Tahmet you canât be jealous. You left your wife.
Oh good she said no.
Even though I donât want Lucas to die, the only character here I TRULY care about is Scott
Tye. He will murder you.
Of course heâs still in love with you. Why the hell else would he choose Tye to be his opponent.
Veronica would miss you! SEE?! She said so too.
Okay Tye whatâs the plan cause even in chains this guy looks like heâs kill you.
I donât think kissing her is a good idea. It seems to only make him mad.
Tye. You already falling. This was not a good idea.
Again, I donât think this plan of yours is having the desired effect. He seems angrier and angrier.
You got Lucky Tye. If she hadnât distracted him, youâd be dead. Even if you were willing to yield.
That looks like green paint.
This shit better heal him.
Scott what are you hiding?
Did you make a deal with that man?!?! Shit. You did.
Scott. It was a front. Shouldâve called his bluff.
Isnât she technically still married, Tye?
Awe Veronica and Lucas having their bonding moment.
Miscellaneous
Iâm hella late but ITS FALL FINALE TIME
Oh yeah they are in 1988 now.
I wonder whatâs happening in 2022 now. Like what do the scientist there think?
All yâall crazy as hell. I wouldâve been like âhope you figure it out homie cause I canât go back there.â Like. My anxiety, if it hadnât already killed me, would not have allowed me to even entertain the thought of going back.

Spitfire-chapter 3
Sorry that I've been gone for so long, here is the next chapter in my Sweet Pea story.
Hope you enjoy please leave feedback.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c045836feaf469adc9111700bf3a2a05/2d216f03f961c1df-e1/s540x810/de35d9fe89994787925bc89cc35aae2d48357981.jpg)
Auroraâs POV
I stormed out of Sweet Peaâs trailer, tears coming to my eyes as the scene played on repeat in my mind. He only saw me as a friend nothing more, no matter how close we had been. I heard a bang coming from his trailer and I knew that he knew I wasnât coming back. I sat in my car just outside Sunnyside Trailer park as I watched Toni and Fangs ride in on their bikes. I knew they were going to Sweet Peaâs as today was our normal day of watching movies until we got bored and ordered food. Itâll be a shock to them that Iâm not there cuddled up to him already. I threw my car into drive and took off back to my house, hoping that Archie was with Veronica and that dad was at work. I didnât want to deal with anyone else today I just wanted to lay in the bath and listen to music. There were no cars in the drive way when I got home so I headed straight upstairs to my bathroom and started running a bath with bubbles for myself. I had cried the whole way home and my eyes were puffy and my makeup smudged. I lit a few candles around the bathroom before I heard the doorbell ring just as I was about to get undressed. I groaned and headed back downstairs my socked feet making little noise on the hardwood floors.
âThis better be fucking good Iâm not in the mood.â I swung the door open to be face to face with Toni. She grabbed my shoulders and pulled me into her body. I felt sobs wrack my body as she moved us inside.
âItâs okay, come one I know that you want a bath, Iâll help you.â She led me upstairs and back into the bathroom that smelt like the teakwood candles I had lit before Toni arrived. She helped me undressed which isnât weird even though sheâs gay, this isnât the first time Sweet Pea has been a dick and Iâve needed a bath. She switched on her playlist specifically designed for moments like these and she came to sit on the edge of the bath with some make up wipes. After helping me take off my smudged makeup she sat down on the cold tile of the bathroom and turned to me. âTell me what happened. He told us what happened but what happened with your side.â I sunk down lower in the bath before I answered her.
âBasically he thinks that I need protecting, that Iâm so fucking breakable that he needs to protect me from everyone.â I took a deep breath and looked at her.
âOh honey, no he doesnât, he knows how strong you are. You have never not once backed down from putting him in his place, when most people would from one single glance from him. That first day we met you I remember talking to him once you left, he said that no one has ever stood up to him like that. We teased him saying that he liked you but he brushed us off. When you did your dance he couldnât take his eyes off you. But I know for a fact he wasnât thinking sexually, there was nothing going on in his pants when Fangs looked at him. That may sound bad but what Iâm really trying to tell you is that; he may be a dick, and he may have anger issues that he really needs to resolve but he does like you, as more than a friend, heâs just afraid of you leaving, he only has us. Well us and the serpents, but even then he really only has the three of us and heâs terrified of any of us leaving him.â I blinked back tears as her words sunk in. I had just walked out of one of my best friends lives just because he called me a friend and because I thought he thought of me as breakable.
âShould I go back over there?â I asked her.
âGod no, make him grovel, youâre a badass bitch who donât need no man. Make him want you that much more, make him squirm. Honestly he probably deserves it. Tonight you and I are having a girls night.â She giggled causing me to giggle. âNow where do you hide your face masks?â I pointed out the bottom drawer in the vanity. She nodded and got out all the different masks that I have before she took off out the door. I shook my head at her before she came back in dressed in a pair of my pjs and carrying another pair along with underwear for me. She was wearing a light green pair that consisted of booty shorts and a spaghetti strap tank top. For me she had grabbed my black booty shorts with my huge tshirt that I had stolen from Sweet Pea. I glared at her before I got out wrapping a towel around my body and drying off.
âI thought we were trying to make me feel better not make me miss him.â I held up the shirt to the front of my body.
âShit I forgot that was his.â I waved her off and pulled it over my head. I may be pissed at him but he still smelt amazing. Even the candles I had put on reminded me of his scent. We spent the rest of the night talking shit about Sweet Pea and Fangs and also laughing our asses off at memories either with or without the boys as we did masks and watched stupid girly movies which made the both of us cry.
Sweet Peaâs POV
Summer had came quickly. Rory was avoiding me at any cost, serpent meetings she would stay by the bar with Toni, or she would be working the bar. She never came to the wyrm to just hang out anymore and when I saw her in school she kept her headphones in and her head down. I had been spending a lot of time with Josie McCoy and she was fun sure but she was no Rory, I thought she could help me get over her but she couldnât. She and I were just using each other and called it a summer fling but a couple weeks in I couldnât do it anymore. I had watched Rory laughing at Fangs and Toni in the wyrm and I just felt like absolute shit, so I stormed out of the wyrm jumped in my bike and made my way to Josieâs.
âDidnât know we had a hook up scheduled.â She chuckled as she opened her door.
âIâm not here for a hook up.â I told her looking down at my feet. âI cant keep doing this Josie, Iâm sorry.â I went to turn back around and leave when she grabbed my shoulder turning me around. Her lips were on mine and before I could even think we were up in her room hooking up yet again. I looked at her and suddenly I couldnât see Josie anymore I saw Rory which made me kiss down her neck and bite harshly. I felt her moan which only spurred me on more.
It wasnât until I was laying down staring up at the ceiling that I finally saw Josie not Rory. I frowned and looked at Josie before I got up to collect my clothes.
âThis is it, no more I cant keep doing this to myself.â I told her as I buckled my belt back up.
âYou love her donât you?â She asked as she wrapped a sheet around her body.
âWho?â I asked her playing dumb, in the last 6 months all I have been able to think about is Rory, I have finally come to the realisation that the things we used to do we did because I liked her.
âAurora Andrews.â I looked down at the floor as I shrugged on my jacket.
âYeah I do. I have since I met her.â
âThen go get her dumbass. Youâre the reason she has changed and you and I were only doing this so that we could forget other people. And I know Iâm not the only one it hasnât worked for. I donât know how many times youâve called me Rory.â I turned away from her and started to head out the door. âI hope it works out for you Sweet Pea, youâre a really great guy and Iâm sorry for using you these past couple of weeks.â
âIâm sorry too, I hope everything works out for you.â With that I walked out of her room and out of her house.
I made my way to Wyrm knowing tonight was a night she was doing a shift with Toni, I had to talk to her, I needed to talk to her even if I can only get her back as a friend I donât care. I quickly spotted Toni as I walked in, but she quickly ducked into the room behind the bar.
Aurora POV
Toni joined me in the back room as I tied my hair up getting ready for my shift.
âHeâs here, you either start the plan now or you keep waiting hoping life will go on. But I know the both of you are miserable without the other.â She went to turn around and walk out before I spoke up.
âHe has Josie now.â She spun back around to me as my voice was so quiet. âHe doesnât want me anymore and the plan is now null and void. Can I just have the night off?â She shook her head and grabbed both of my shoulders before pushing me out the door. I stumbled a little bit before I crashed into a strong chest. Their arms wound around my waist and I was hit wth a familiar scent, one I hadnât smelt in months, other than the occasional candle that had a similar scent. Minus the leather and cigarette smell. I looked up craning my neck slightly as I was in heels so I wasnât as short as I normally would be, and I found myself lost in his deep dark pools of whiskey. He cleared his throat and I pushed myself away from his strong arms and chest standing on my own. I crossed my arms over my chest and just stared at him as I waited for him to say something.
âRory.â He breathed out reaching his hand out to me. I took another step back away from him and saw his face fall. âIâm sorry about that night, Iâm a fucking idiot, I didnât realise only calling you a friend and making you think that I thought you were fragile would do this. I like protecting you, even though I know you can protect yourself, I like knowing that Iâm needed. These past couple of months I have missed your touch, have missed our banter, Iâve missed the way you push me to be someone better than just a drug running Serpent. Aurora Andrewâs I miss you so much and I never thought I would ever say that about a Northsider but you are different.â He took a deep breath and our eyes locked. I felt my resolve crumple around me and I reached my arms up and tangled my hands in his hair bringing his body closer to mine. Feelings aside, because he never mentioned them and I knew he was with Josie now, I knew I missed my best friend.
âIve missed you too Sweets, Iâve missed sitting on you, Iâve missed our movie nights and cuddles. Iâve missed everything about you even the way you smell, which sounds weird now that I say that out loud. I had this whole plan to make you regret being a dick but standing here in your arms I know that I never want to go that long without your arms wrapped around me again.â I buried my head in his chest and I felt him chuckle as he ran his fingers through my hair.
âWhat did this plan entail?â He asked me pulling away from me slightly.
âBasically it was just making you regret the way that you spoke to me, showing you I wasnât fragile and kicking some Ghoulie ass, but thinking about that now I can see how stupid it was.â I laughed and brought him in for another hug. His head rested in the crook of my neck and I felt his breath fan over the exposed skin.
âRory, shift is starting!â I heard Toni yell from behind the bar. I pulled away from Sweet Pea and placed a soft kiss on his cheek before I strutted away swinging my hips more than normal as I felt his eyes on me. He is such a boy. I joined Toni behind the bar and watched as Sweet Pea walked over to Fangs to start a game of pool. âSo⊠that looked promising?â She questioned me as we started to serve some of the patrons of the bar.
âHe apologised and told me all of these cute things that he missed about me, I was fucking putty in his hands and he knew that. I wanted to make him work for it but as soon as I felt his touch I was fucking gone. Toni I think I love that man over there.â She squealed and pulled me into her.
âIâm so gad you finally see it. Ive been saying that for months and youâve just brushed me off every time. I actually remember you threatening me over it once too.â We giggled at each other and my eyes found Sweet Pea, he was already looking at me and we made eye contact before I blushed and turned away from him back to the job at hand of getting the older serpents drunk.
âHey pretty lady, what are you doing after you finish up here?â I heard a deep baritone voice coming from behind me and instantly tensed up. I turned around slowly and threw the rag I had in my hands at Sweet Pea.
âI was seriously about to cuss you out and tell you I had a boyfriend, they always leave me alone when I do that.â He threw the rag back at me and I got back to the tedious job of cleaning all the glasses.
âYou get that often then I assume?â He asked me as he sat at the bar. I rolled my eyes at him and grabbed a beer out for him.
âEvery so often, once they saw I wasnât around you as often they started to get worse. I guess your just a really scary badass Serpent that even the older serpents are afraid of.â
âYeah I kicked one of their asses a few months back and no one has looked me in the eye since.â He took a swig of his beer before my attention had to be taken away by another Serpent.
âHey hot stuff!â I rolled my eyes but went over to him anyway. âOnce your done with mister 30 seconds Iâll take a beer and your number thanks.â He winked at me and I watched from the corner of my eyes as Sweet Pea clenched and unclenched his fists. I bent over slightly more than I needed to in Sweet Peaâs line of sight as I got the beer out.
âYou can have the beer, because thatâs my job, but my number and my attention are saved for him, so I would appreciate any rude remarks to be kept to a minimum or non existent.â I sent him a wink and shoved the beer into his hand before turning back to Sweet Pea.
âUm, when did that happen?â He asked gesturing to my body.
âUm, when my big cuddly teddy bear decided to be a dick. I told you I could take care of myself, now youâve seen me in action.â I rolled my eyes at him as he looked back over to the perv from before. âPlus he probably heard you hit on me and I didnât say anything so he thought it was alright tonight.â I shrugged and started to wipe down the bar.
âI always knew you could handle yourself Rory, Iâm just very protective, and I guess you could say territorial as well.â He looked down at the bar not meeting my eyes.
âOh I know you are Sweets, why do you think I let you give me all those hickies anyway?â He gave me a questioning look finally meeting my eye as I leant against the bar on the other side.
âWait, what? You knew I was doing that to keep pervs like that fuckwit away from you?â He asked me, I nodded and leant over closer to him on the bar. My boobs getting squished between the bar top and my body.
âOf curse I did, I also knew you beat up the first Serpent that tried to hit on me too. Iâm not stupid Sweets.â
âNever said you were. What time do you get off anyway?â He asked me as I leaned back to look at the clock.
âUh, in 15 why?â
âMovies at mine? No Fangs, no Toni just the two of us?â
âAbsolutely!â I looked around for Toni hoping I could get off early. I found her over by the pool tables with Fangs. âYou go talk to her, Iâll make sure everything is right for her to take over.â He nodded and got up making his way over to Toni and Fangs, I saw her nod her head as I wiped the bar clean.
âSo you having movie night without us tonight?â She asked as she retied her apron on her hips. I nodded and blushed. âGet out of here, and if I donât get an update tonight Iâll assume things went great and we should start planning your wedding tomorrow.â She winked at me causing me to blush even darker. She pulled me into a tight hug before placing a kiss on my cheek.
âReady?â Sweet Pea asked from behind Toni. I nodded and pulled off my apron before going into the back to get my things. Sweet Pea placed a hand in the small of my back as we made our way out of the Wyrm.
âUSE PROTECTION!â I heard Fangs yell from inside and I blushed and looked at Sweet Pea.
âToni also thinks something is going to happen tonight.â
âIt can if you want.â He whispered in my ear before handing me his helmet. I shook my head and gestured to my own bike. His eyes nearly fell out of his head at my baby. I grinned before placing a kiss on his cheek and skipping off to my bike, turning the key and hearing the engine roar to life. I looked back to Sweet Pea who hadnât moved yet, his jaw going slack before I winked at him and sped off to his trailer.
Being back in his trailer again after so many weeks of not being here was weird, he handed me a glass of water before we sat down on his couch and faced each other.
âHow have you been?â He sat down his glass and licked his lips. I found myself watching his every move.
âNot too bad, been busy working and you know things with school.â He ran his fingers through his hair and I felt my fingers twitch.
âOkay, look we used to be close, I want to get back to that and this small talk bullshit is not helping our situation. In the last couple of months we have both been avoiding each other, after you stormed out of my trailer Toni told me why she thought I lost you. Look, I called you a friend because I thought thatâs what we were, just best friends.â
âLook I understand that we were friends and I know that you calling me a friend shouldnât have effected me the way that it did. But it happened and I acted on impulse,â
âThe way that you left effected me in a way that it shouldnât have as well. We were both acting on emotions, I love you Aurora, that is why I protect you, that is why I acted the way I did with Mantle that day, and why I got so emotional when you told me you could handle yourself. I know you can but I like feeling like Iâm needed, needed by someone so important in my life. It gives me a feeling of accomplishment. I miss the feeling of your fingers on my skin, I miss when you would push me in the chest when I was being a dick, I miss you sitting in my lap and wrapping my arms around you, I miss cuddling in the couch and watching movies until all hours of the night.â He reached forward and took my hand in his anger one, he looked down at our interlocked hands and started to fidget with one of my many rings. âThese past couple of months have been hell for me, as Im sure it has been for you. Toni hardly spoke to me she would talk to me through Fangs, and I knew she was with you when she wasnât with us. It killed me not having you right beside me.â I squeezed his hand and looked into his deep whiskey eyes. Iâm could see a slight sheen to his eyes and squeezed his hand again.
âSweetâs, these months have been just as hard for me too, thatâs why Toni stayed with me. I reacted the way I did because I thought we had something, because I thought you could see I could handle myself and when you would jump in it made me feel like you didnât have that faith in me. I thought you cared enough to let me be myself. It hurt Sweet Pea,â
âNoah,â I cocked my head to the side and looked at him strangely. âMy name, its Noah.â He looked down at his lap and I felt my face contort into a smile. âNo one knows, so please keep it to yourself.â He avoided looking up at me. I reached forward with my free hand and grasped his jaw tilting his head to look at me. I held his gaze.
âNoah, I will never let anyone know. Thank you for sharing that with me.â He let go of my hand and I felt his calloused hands rest on either side of my face.
âI want to do something.â I nodded my head holding eye contact with him. He leaned in pulling my face closer to his, I closed my eyes as his lips gently brushed mine before he pulled my face even closer and deepened the kiss. He pulled away from me slowly I kept my eyes closed but caressed his hands gently as they laid on my jaw. âAurora Andrews, I have loved you since you stood up to me, I felt soft and weak under your gaze,â I felt his thumb softly rub his thumb against the apple of my cheek. âI honestly hated the feeling but I found myself drawn to you, to feel your touch and to feel your gaze on my skin once again. I craved the feeling of your skin on mine, I became protective of you, I hated it when you joined and did the dance, I never wanted this life for you, I donât even want this life for me, but if you feel the same I will work tirelessly to give you the life that you deserve.â I felt a tear roll down my cheek and Sweet Pea was quick to wipe it away. I opened my eyes and felt myself get lost in his honey coloured eyes.
âOf course I feel the same, Iâm strong but I feel weak around you, I feel butterflies whenever you touch me, which is a lot by the way. I want a life with you Noah, we can get out of this together and have what we want.â I took his hands off my face and held them in my own. âI love you Noah.â
âI love you Aurora.â I pulled his face closer to mine and planted my lips on his, he pulled back slowly and rested his forehead on mine. âBe mine?â I nodded keeping my eyes closed when he pulled me impossibly closer almost sitting on his lap before kissing me passionately with his arms wrapped around my waist.

Loverâs Lines
Summary: Sweet pea/reader; Youâre secretly dating Sweet Pea, both of you putting on a â hate the otherâ facade
Sweet Pea smirks leaning on his arm looking down at you from where he rests against the wall. âNot like a Northsider to be sneaking around the back of Popâs now is it.â âJust like a Southsider to.â You shoot back, he straightens up and you unzip your jacket revealing your uniform. âWhatâs your excuse?â You smirk as he goes quiet for a moment. âYour name, and number of course. Only time I can catch you so you wonât think Iâm some creep.â âSo waiting at the back of my work place isnât creepy?â You arch an eyebrow but stop when his face crumbles. âSorry, just figured you wouldnât be too happy to have everyone seeing you get hit on by a Southsider.â He shrugs and steps away. âYouâre right, but I wouldnât really care if they saw us on a date.â You call after him before stepping through the back door.
You meet Sweet Pea after your shift, he buys you dinner, although considering its 3am itâs technically breakfast. You talk surprised to find how much you have in common. You manage to spend two hours debating over the newest comic release, youâre firmly on the side for the reboot, no matter how far from the original it strayed you figured any content was good. He invites you back to his place after you explain your parents would probably have a breakdown if they found out you went out with a Southsider.
âSo why do you want to come back to mine? Wouldnât that make them freak out more?â âTheyâre already going to freak. Might as well give them something to actually be upset about.â You shrug as you grip around his waist as he speeds over to the Southside. He tugs the hood up on your jacket. âNo point in my friends freaking out either.â You nod and follow him to his trailer. This is the first time you sneak behind everyoneâs back with Sweet Pea. You decide overall that itâs best for both of you to keep it a secret, at least until the tension between the Southside and Northside die down.
_____________________________________________________________
When Southside High closes and you find yourself in several classes with Sweet Pea you think itâll be easier to hide, at least until you can manage to warm your parents and your friends up to the idea. Itâs almost fun at first, getting in jabs and snide comments about each other; reassuring each other after school nothing was meant by it. You end up making it a game, whoever has the least points by the end of the day buys dinner for the other. You almost always win.
Sweet Pea somehow manages to sneak past everyone to meet you after the Vixenâs finish practice; all but cornering you alone with him. âI regret dating a Vixen.â He hums between kissing you. âWhy?â âSkirt keeps getting shorter every time I see you.â You laugh as his fingers brush against the skin at the hemline. âIt wouldnât be so short if you didnât pull it up now would it?â Sweet Pea stays quiet pulling away when you both can hear voices. You tug your skirt down slightly and he winks at you.
âWanna put on a show?â You nod smirking, faking anger as you shove past him, and what you discover to be a group of Serpentâs. âFuckinâ Southsiders.â You snarl; trying your best to keep a smile off your face at the glare they shoot Sweet Pea.
_______________________________________________________________
Sweet Peaâs winning so far, but since itâs lunch you know you usually manage to get in a few jabs, considering everyone spends lunch sitting together. The perfect time to annoy him and try to get him to end up buying dinner on your date tonight.
âYouâre going to ruin everything, freaking Southsiderâ You snarl and try to shove past sweet pea. âI thought we were past name calling.â âThought you liked me screaming you name, hm?â You taunt. âOh you little prissy Northsider.â Sweet Pea sneers. Jughead steps forward glaring.
âStop canât you two let the stupid Northside Southside thing go already.â Sweet Pea turns to glare at him and rolls his eyes. âI would if she did. Sheâs living up to every single stereotype of Northsiderâs Iâve ever heard. Sheâs worse than Cheryl! Cheryl, Jones, Y/N is a nightmare.â
âOh Iâm a nightmare am I?â You look up from the couch in his trailer; he rolls his eyes holding out a soda for you. âOf course, youâre ruining my reputation as a tough Southsider.â You smirk as he leans down to kiss you. He sits down and you climb onto his lap. âIâm sorry for ruining your tough guy rep.â You purr. âI can think of a few ways for you to make it up to me.â He pulls you in kissing you as you roll your hips against his.
____________________________________________________________________
âI donât hate Sweet Pea at all, He started it with the whole Northsiderâs are shit and apparently Iâm the âqueenâ of it or whatever he says.â You slump a little in your seat. âOh my god you like him!!â Veronicaâs eyes light up and you stare wide-eyed at her shaking youâre head. âNo I donât! I donât like Sweet Pea!â âYou so do!â âIt doesnât matter either way, itâd just be more fuel for him to make fun of me. Please donât say anything.â Veronica nods, but you can see her smirking at Toni when class ends.
_______________________________________________________________
âWhatâre you looking at anyways?â Toni turns to were Sweet Pea stares raising an eyebrow. âYouâre looking at Y/N.â âNo Iâm not.â Toni nods. âYou were, looking at her just like how I look at Cheryl. You have a crush on her.â Sweet Pea swallows glaring over to you and then back to Toni. âWhy would I ever have a crush on Y/N. Have you seen her? Sheâs epitome of a try hard Northsider. Sheâs never going to be anything but Northside trash, completely average, nothing special; why would I want that?â He shrugs turning back to his breakfast. Toni frowns as you move slightly faster past their group.
________________________________________________________________
âDude you took it too far. She was crying earlier.â Sweet Pea turns looking worriedly in your direction. âYou sure it wasnât fake?â Fangs shakes his head. âWhatever you said mustâve really hurt her.â He shrugs and continues eating, Sweet Pea stands making his way over to you, Veronica glares at him. âChrist, I just wanna apologize, for whatever I said thatâs got you so upset. Can we talk, alone, if youâre okay with it?â You nod, following him out into an empty room.
âFangs said you were crying earlier, what happened? What did I do Y/N.â âItâs nothing Sweets, donât sweat it.â You turn back towards the door. âHey;â He catches you arm. âWe can talk later yeah? I have practice today but I can skip. Itâll be fine.â âSkipping practice or us?â You donât answer him as you leave.
_________________________________________________________________
Sweet Pea tries his best not to talk as you walk with him towards his bike. You can tell heâs desperate to talk about it. âSo Popâs?â He offers and you shake your head. âYour place is probably best.â You speak as you tug hood up the usual protocol for going to visit him. You keep your grip as tight as normal all the way to his trailer, you follow him in and he sits nervously on his bed. âY/N Iâm really sorry if what I said earlier; I didnât nor will I ever mean it and-â
âI love you.â You watch his mouth close and open, as his face seems to light up. You step closer to him so youâre standing in front of him, close enough so he presses his face into your shoulder. He sighs, relieved pulling you onto his lap, itâs your turn to rest your head against his neck. âCan we date? Like in public?â He nods and you pull your face up to look at him. âAre you okay?â You poke a finger into his cheek. He nods slowly. âYou love me.â You nod back to him. âYes, weâve established that. So now we donât have to be at each others throats, Iâm sure everyone will be relieved.â
âThey wonât be.â Sweet pea smirks and you wait for him to continue talking. âTheyâre going to be sick worse than they are, we might not be at each otherâs throats but weâll be down them.â He wiggles his eyebrows and you laugh. You lean forward kissing him but he pulls away sharply. âI love you!â you nod confused at him. âI assumed you did?â You question and he shakes his head. âNo you said you love me and I forgot to say it back! I love you Y/N; I always will.â

Poppy x MC Tinder AU
Summary: based off that one tumblr post about a girl who never experienced an orgasm and their friend hooks them up with their lesbian friend. aka, the au that no one asked for.
in which Veronica and Chloe find out that Poppy's never experienced an orgasm and they decide to help her out by creating a tinder account for her, cue MC finding her account and shenanigans happen.
Warnings: swear words maybe some smut but nothing too graphic. (OWO)
If anyone wants to be added to taglist please reply. As always these are only my headcanons so enjoy my take on that tinder au anon asked @somewillwin about. Your brain anon omg.
Taglist: @somewillwin @belvoiresqueenbee @origmansello @clownery-is-a-new-personality @kamilahtrash @poppysminion @poppysimp @captain-hanadeleine @poppysmc @iiizdumb @uselesslesbianfr @scattered-to-the-winds @idiot-justidiot @toyhenoctus
First of all this discussion happens one night where Poppy, Chloe and Veronica get their asses drunk at a frat party. Believe or not the top 3 girls of Belvoire actually care about each other, they just have a really weird way of showing it.
A heart to heart talk starts and the three of them start to confess things that they would never talk about when sober. Cue Poppy saying "I've never experienced an orgasm in my whole life."
Chloe and Veronica just look at Poppy shocked and their jaws drop. Veronica just looks at Poppy with a weird look of pity, whilst Chloe just stares.
After realising what she said Poppy quickly sobers up and clams her mouth shut. "What do you mean you've never had an orgasm before?!" Veronica all but yells. "Gee V, couldn't you have said that any louder, I don't think the whole school heard you." Poppy replies sarcastically.
Veronica just rolls her eyes and says "Girl, you're not getting out of this convo that easily. Now spill the tea sis." Chloe and Veronica look at Poppy expectantly, waiting for her to elaborate. Poppy just sighs and looks away cheeks flushed, as if embarrassed.
The two don't stop pestering her, so Poppy has no choice but to raise her hands in mock surrender. "Fine, I'll tell you" she says as her eyes narrow dangerously. "But if you tell anyone about this, I will actually erase the both of you from planet earth."
Poppy begins to explain that none of her exes made her feel good, and that whenever she had sex with any of them she always had to fake it, so much so that she's started to find sex boring.
Veronica and Chloe share a look and nod at each other. The both of them say "We're gonna set up a tinder account for you to find a good lay (basically the british version of saying good fuck), because that's just pretty fucking sad. Why didn't you tell us sooner, like bruhhh??."
Poppy just looks away and says "Its not like I can just go up to you guys and say 'I've never orgasmed before'". The two just nod their head in understanding before taking Poppy's phone and installing tinder.
They spend some time taking and choosing the best photos for Poppy to use on her tinder profile. (If anyone has seen Euphoria, you know that scene where Rue helps Jules take nudes, it's like that but PG-13) Considering that the three of them were pretty drunk, it was surprising to see how well it turned out.
Feeling sleepy, both Veronica and Chloe retreat back to their room, and Poppy just feels so tired that she falls asleep as soon as the other girls leave.
Waking up the next morning Poppy wakes up to the sound of her phone beeping numerous times and annoyed by the constant ping, she picks it up to see that almost all the notifications were from tinder.
Poppy is confused because wtf? When did she download tinder??? And then it hits her like a truck, 'Oh shit, we were all drunk as fuck last night, I thought that was some bizarre lucid dream but I actually have a tinder account. Fuck.' - she thinks to herself, embarrassed that Veronica and Chloe know her secret.
She sees a few messages from the group chat. Veronica sent her a message. "Poppy, istg if you delete tinder after all the time we spent making your profile look cute, I will post the ugliest picture I have of you on my insta." it reads. What surprised her is that Chloe actually backs Veronica up by saying "Yeah Poppy, it took our three collective brain cells to curate that account so you better use it."
Poppy giggles a little amused by her friends' reaction and she messages them back by saying "Fine, but if it doesn't work out you guys have to pay for my next shopping spree." Chloe and Veronica just agrees albeit unwillingly, but they know not to argue back.
Poppy decides to check the messages and matches that she got on tinder, disappointed but not surprised, most messages say "Send nudes" or a nude pic is attached to their messages. Poppy just rolls her eyes as she immediately unmatches them.
You were looking on tinder for your latest hook-up with no strings attached because ewww commitment and no one really caught your eye, except Poppy. Imagine your surprise when you find Poppy's profile on tinder, deciding that it was a troll account you decide to message them saying "Wow, of all the people you could choose to pretend to be, you choose the HBIC of Belvoire. Stop trying to catfish people, that's just shitty."
Poppy shocked at the sudden message that she gets from you scoffs and replies back "I'm not pretending to be anyone, Farmsville, in case you didn't know even I'm allowed to use tinder."
You just roll your eyes and text back "If you really are Poppy Min-Sinclair, prove it. I might hate Poppy's guts but trying to ruin her reputation by doing shit like this isn't funny."
This catches Poppy's attention, and suddenly she's curious. 'Why would she even stand up for me?' she can't help but wonder.
Poppy screenshots your conversation and sends it to Chloe and Veronica who have vastly different reactions. Veronica's response compiles of this emoji đ, and the words "Farmsville likes girls, we been knew." and Chloe's response is more of a "WTF, I thought she was dating that Zoey girl."
The girls tell her that it would be fun to mess with you, and they tell her that she should prove that the profile is hers. Veronica also messages her privately saying "girl, her bio legit says 'not looking for commitment' this is like your chance to sleep with her and if you don't, I will." Poppy just grunts in annoyance and decides that fine, she supposed that you were attractive enough for a hook-up.
When you don't get a reply within the next ten minutes you scoff and roll your eyes. 'Damn, people really stoop so low huh.' - you think to yourself. There's a slight disappointment that crosses your mind once the account stopped replying to your messages. You were kind of hoping that it was the real Poppy after all.
Against her better judgement (gay denial right here folks, you're the first to see it), she decides to take a selfie and sends it to you.
Right as you're about to unmatch to what most likely seems to be a fake account, you're surprised to see a message from Poppy's supposed account. It was a selfie of Poppy, where instead of her usual pink fur coat, she's wearing something casual, and to be fair it's a really nice mirror selfie. (This is what I imagine) (I still stand by my headcanon of Poppy looking like Chungha but I couldn't find a good photo lolol)
Doubting that it's really Poppy, you decide to check your socials to see if she's uploaded any new images, and so far you haven't found anything. However you're nothing if not stubborn. You ask if she could prove that she's real and not some weirdo.
Poppy just rolls her eyes annoyed that she's being questioned, as a last ditch effort to gain your trust she sends another selfie, which is a bit more revealing than the last and once you see it your brain stops functioning.
Regaining your composure, you message her saying "I thought you had a boyfriend? What the fuck?" The only response you get is a reaction gif of some girl rolling their eyes. Being the little shit you are you decide to annoy her by sending selfies back, each photo more provocative than the last.
Poppy amused by the photos decides to get you back and it becomes a game of one-upping each other to see who takes better thirst traps. This continues on for an entire week (It's such a stupid competion and both of you know but you're both competitive af so yeah.) until Poppy snaps and contacts you using her actual phone number instead of the app.
Poppy's already frustrated and she's annoyed because she can't stop thinking about you and your stupidly hot, gorgeous body - oh my god I'm going insane she thinks to herself. She decides enough is enough and messages you. "FUCK YOU FARMSVILLE! BACK DOWN ALREADY!"
You wouldn't be yourself if you didn't have a sassy comeback ready so you reply with "FUCK ME YOURSELF YOU COWARD!" sending her yet another thirst trap, this one more revealing than the others.
Poppy snaps when she sees the message and she's quick to make a reservation to her favourite hotel in NYC, because as if she'd be seen taking you to her room. She gets the biggest room because she's extra like that and she knows she deserves the best.
The only response you get is a pinned location on the map, aptly captioned, "Meet me here Farmsville and I'll make you eat your words."
Still feeling feisty you reply with "Is that a threat or is that a promise? đđ" and Poppy just tells you to hurry up.
This is a really stupid idea - you think to yourself. You can't help but be suspicious of Poppy wanting to meet up, after all she can use this information against you. However none of that matters to your lust riddled brain, considering the last hook-up you've had was with Professor Kingsley and that was quite some time ago and you're really horny for some action.
You quickly dress in your best underwear, and choose something fashionable yet casual to wear because let's face it even if you hate Poppy, you don't want to look like a loser if you're gonna hook up.
Once you get there, you quickly make your way to the designated room that Poppy told you to go to. Knocking on the door, you're lowkey expecting Belvoire students to berate you, but once the door opens all you can see is Poppy.
Poppy is dressed in nothing but her underwear as she pulls you into the room. Feeling a bit awkward, you decide to break the ice by saying "I lowkey expected this to be some weird plan where you embarass me in front of your clique."
Poppy just looks at you and she scoffs as she says "As much as I hate you Farmsville, even I wouldn't stoop that low. Plus it's a crime to share nudes without a person's permission." You just look at her in disbelief jaw dropping as you take all of her in. I mean if you thought she looked good in the photos, then damn seeing it in real life was a different experience entirely
She notices that you're staring and she just flashes you a smirk and says "See something you like?" and all you want to do is wipe the smirk off her perfect face.
Stepping closer to Poppy, you make the first move and kiss her roughly, each kiss longer than the last and you can feel your heart pound as your nervousness dissipates and all you can focus on is the smell of Poppy's perfume and how it drives you wild. As well as how soft her skin feels against your hands and it's enough to drive you over the edge.
Poppy pulls away and you follow after her, annoyed by the fact that the kisses stopped. You can hear her pant as she struggles to breathe.
As soon as Poppy catches her breath, she says "I'm starting to feel under dressed so let's fix that shall we?" She pulls you towards the bed and she strips your clothing off, and you can't help but stare because holy shit this is actually happening. You start to wonder if you're dreaming until you feel Poppy kiss you again, this time slower and softer and you can't help the wistful sigh that escapes your lips.
You decide to take the lead until you hear Poppy say something. "Wait a minute Farmsville." You stop and listen because no matter how sexually frustrated you might be at the moment, consent is always important.
You wait patiently for her to start talking and she says "Don't make fun of me, but I've never known what an orgasm feels like." You can tell that she's flustered by the way she looks away and refuses to make eye contact.
Your eyes soften up and you kiss her gently on the neck and whisper "I guess that's something we can improve after tonight, but if you feel uncomfortable at any moment in time just tell me to stop." Surprised that you even cared about how she felt Poppy just nods her head softly at you.
"I'm gonna start touching you, okay Poppy?" you say your voice gentle, as you hope that it soothes her nerves. "Just relax and let me do the work, alright, I promise I won't hurt you." Poppy just shoots you a shy smile and your heart pounds because fuck that's the cutest fucking thing you've ever seen.
Kissing your way to her inner thighs, you can hear and feel her squirm against your touch. In order to keep her still, you place her hands on your hair and assure her that it's okay if she tugs on it. You place your hands on her hips to keep her steady as you tease and suck on her clit.
Poppy's small moans of contentment makes you want to do more, so you try extra hard because you want to hear more. You can feel Poppy's body begin to shudder and you can tell that she's close and spurred on by that you insert your fingers into her core and thrust until you can hear scream in pleasure.
You can't help but stare as her body starts to spasm and you let her grind so that she can climax again and it's the most erotic moment of your life.
Poppy feels her whole vision turn white for a moment and she feels euphoric once she realises that she came.
As soon as she regains her bearings, she turns to you, who looks very satisfied, and omg did she just see you lick her juices off your finger. That sends a wave of arousal straight to her core and she looks away embarrassed from being turned on again just a few seconds after coming.
You put your hand on her chin and turn her face towards you forcing her to make eye contact. "It's not over yet, Princess. I'm pretty sure that we can wriggle more of those out of you and the night is young." you say your voice dropping an octave.
By the time that you've finished, Poppy's mind has gone blank and she feels so tired that she doesn't think she can move. She's got to give you props though, because goddamn that was the first time she actually enjoyed sex and she actually got to cum too.
Noticing that Poppy's too tired to move, you decide to lift her up in a princess carry and surprised by your sudden action Poppy's about to protest until you just tell her to be quiet.
Placing Poppy in the bath tub, you turn on the faucet and makes sure that the water isn't too hot or cold as it fills up. After the bath has been filled you slip into the bathtub behind Poppy as you help her clean up.
'Okay now she's just being unfair, why is she being so nice.' Poppy thinks to herself. Trying to make conversation Poppy says "Why are you taking care of me, I half expected you to leave after we fucked." You rest you chin on her shoulder and say "I didn't want you to catch a cold, and besides what kind of a person would I be if I just left you on your own? I like to think of myself as a gentlewoman." You start to place soft kisses on her shoulders and Poppy just sighs wistfully, feeling at peace as she leans back against you. "Don't tell anyone but this was actually the most fun I've had. Hell I don't think any of my exes would have compared against you." Poppy says shyly.
You can't help the smile that creeps it's way to your face. "You can't say shit like that Poppy, I'm pretty sure you're gonna give me a heart attack if you act this soft." you say teasing lilt in your voice and you can hear Poppy giggle. It sounds so soft and you realise that it's a sound that you want to hear.
Your relationship as enemies with benefits start and the both of you can't really keep your hands off each other, God forbid if you're in the same room.
Intense stares from across the room that everyone assumes to be glares, but little do they know that it's your own way of communicating.
One day Poppy calls you up and tells you that you're going shopping, but in reality it was just an excuse to spend more time with you. On the way to the mall, you guys get frisky in the car and before you can stop yourself you say "Babe" and you can't help but think that you've fucked up.
Poppy doesn't say anything but she likes the new pet name and can't wait to hear you say it again.
You guys go to a high end designer store and one of the staff approaches you and says "You guys look good together." While you're quick to deny it, Poppy just thanks them, but as she hears you deny it her eyes widen and you can see her heart break in front of your eyes. Poppy runs off and you're confused.
The employee looks at you and says "I probably shouldn't say anything else today but you should go after her. It's obvious that you both like each other."
Searching the mall, you're relieved once you see Poppy sitting down on a bench, and you approach her carefully. You see that her eyes are red and you feel shitty because you're the reason why she's crying.
Poppy notices you and she's about to run off again until you catch her wrist in your hand. "Poppy please look at me." you plead and she doesn't budge as she tries to get away from your grip.
Seeing that she can't outrun you considering you're holding onto her she just sighs and looks at you. Her face is covered in tears and you use your other hand to wipe them away.
"You know after you called me babe in the car, I was so happy because I thought that it meant that we were dating, but I guess I was just another girl for you to fuck." Poppy says and your heart breaks.
"I thought that you didn't like me that way, so I quickly denied that we were dating. I do like you Poppy, but you never made it clear that we were in a relationship. Though to be fair I should have tried to clear things up too. I guess we're both idiots huh?" You say as you hold her face between your hands.
Leaning in you capture Poppy's lips and she eagerly kisses you back, happy to resolve the misunderstanding.
Unbeknownst to the both of you a Belvoire student caught everything on camera and by the next day everyone on campus knows that you guys are dating.
No one dares to say anything because uhhh POWER COUPLE and they're highly scared of Poppy killing them lol.
Long story short Poppy sees your tinder account and you compete for better thirst traps and well you start fucking and it ends up with you two dating.
Well that was long, hope you guys enjoy, don't forget to like or reblog if you like it.

Only Monsters Come Out at Night *Chapter 6*
Chapter 6: How Do I Live Without the Ones I Love? Summary: Veronica wants Desdemona to come to her senses and escape Castle Dimitrescu with her. The problem is...Desdemona doesnât want to. A/N: Character death. Graphic descriptions of violence. IÂ tried to link my previous chapters and Iâm having issues sjfodsogsdkg Iâll edit when I get a chance to lol
Desdemona was slowly losing her mind the longer she tried to stay alive in Castle Dimitrescu. Alcinaâs daughters were more than what she could handle but she did what she could to stay on their good side. Her methods were unusual to say the least, but she managed to live another day because of her strategizing. Bela was the eldest daughter, so her needs came first when she required Desdemonaâs attention. Cassandra was the middle child, and she had her own insecurities that made her a little high maintenance, but Desdemona didnât mind that at all. Daniela wasâŠwell, she was certainly rambunctious enough to keep the surviving Hawthorne twin on her toes. Desdemona had managed to prevent another poor maiden from being struck by a blunt object by immediately interfering and pulling Bela to the side to calm her down with a kiss. They stayed in each otherâs warm embrace for quite a while, giving the maiden time to excuse herself and run off elsewhere. The distraction was effective, and Desdemona could have pulled away the moment she knew the other woman was safe, but she didnât. Bela hummed happily against her lips and Desdemona reveled in the feeling of being wanted so of course she was reluctant to break the spell between her and Bela. Thatâs what was starting to feel unusual for Desdemona. The more time she spent with each of the sisters, the less she hated it. They were evil, filthy creatures and yet she could not get enough of them.
Cassandra made her forget that she was a sadistic monster that enjoyed tormenting the people around her for giggles. Desdemona decided to watch some of her movies with Cassandra on her laptop, and she made the mistake of playing Chicago, her all-time favorite musical. As soon as âCell Block Tangoâ came on, Cassandra became so infatuated with the song and the scene itself, she asked Desdemona to replay it several times until she memorized the lyrics. It was fascinating to observe the vampire attempt to recreate the dances she had just seen so she laughed at the utter absurdity of it all. Cassandra suddenly stopped dancing and glared at Desdemona. âWhat are you laughing at?â She asks, now completely uncertain of herself as she nervously plays with her hair.
âNothing, I swear. You just look so happy, itâs kind of cute.â Desdemona replies, her mouth snapping shut the moment she realized what she had just told the other woman.
Sheâs blushing now, unsure of why she had just told her captor that she thought she was cute. Cassandraâs scowl slowly turns into a knowing smirk, and she places her hands on her hips as she stares down at Desdemona with hungry eyes. Desdemona gulps. Was she about to be gutted alive or were they about to engage in what Cassandra calls physical play? She didnât have a chance to rethink what she could have done differently in that moment as Cassandra throws herself on top of Desdemona, her hands clawing at her clothes and cupping the most intimate parts of her body. While Cassandra respected her boundaries when it came to wanting more, Desdemona did not come out of that room unscathed.
The hickeys and bruises did not bother any of the sisters much as they knew they had to share their favorite little pet between all of them. Daniela enjoyed marking Desdemona as much as the other two did but she was convinced her love bites meant more to her human pet because their âloveâ was true and eternal. Desdemona dared not contradict her in fear of her throat being slit but she played along with it. Eventually, Daniela would grow bored of her, would she not? It was hard to say especially when she wanted to snuggle with Desdemona almost every night and wanted her to read one of her books aloud. Desdemona would read to Daniela and the red-haired vampire would listen patiently, her fingers tracing senseless patterns along her playthingâs arms.
Other days, Daniela liked to play rough and tossed Desdemona around like a rag doll when it was her turn to spend time with the pet. Daniela just wanted to assert her dominance with the human and to let her know that she was hers to love and play with. Desdemona endured painful slaps to her face and rear, bites to her breasts and deep scratches on her back only for Daniela to giggle at her handiwork and whisper in her ear how much she loved seeing the smaller girl covered in her markings. It ought to be too much to bear for Desdemona, but for some reasonâŠit wasnât enough. She kept going back for more every time so she must have learned to like it. Desdemona figured she must have been conditioned to enjoy it because no longer could she hear the rational voice in her head telling her to run away and push back but instead, she hears whispers that soothe her into submission. She is convinced sheâs losing her mind and her best friend could easily verify that.
In fact, Veronica had not been herself either for quite some time, Desdemona noticed, and her behavior had been odd ever since she toured unseen parts of the mansion with Lady Dimitrescu. Her demeanor was subdued in a way she had never seen before, and she tried asking her friend about it but all she would get in return was a furious shaking of her head. There was no glimmer of hope in Veronicaâs eyes anymore; instead, Desdemona found herself staring into a void of despair whenever she tried meeting her friendâs gaze. It was a little worrying for a while until one day, she recognized a familiar spark ignite in Veronica once more.
Her friend was hot-headed and sometimes the littlest of things could set her off and today, of all days, Veronica reacted to the sight of Desdemona cozying up to Daniela in the library. Desdemona was not aware that her best friend was allowed to roam the premises freely but judging by the uniform her friend was presumably forced into, she was possibly tasked with cleaning the ground level while the other maids were sent upstairs. Veronica kept a neutral facial expression as she approached her best friend, but she swallowed hard at the sight of Danielaâs hand being held by Desdemona. She couldnât help but clear her throat awkwardly as she stood in front of them snuggled up so comfortably on the couch.
âDezzy, I need to have a word with youâŠin private, if you can grant me the time.â Veronica says stiffly, her nostrils flaring the longer she found herself staring at Desdemona. As for Desmondâs twin, she was in such a state that would imply she had just gotten intimate with the vampire with the smug grin on her face. Veronica noticed a new hickey on the nape of her best friendâs neck, and she had to clench her fists to keep herself grounded.
âVeronica! Yeah, Iâve been wondering where you went, I think we need to catch up. Will you excuse us, Daniela?â Desdemona responds, her cheeks reddening at the fact that she had been caught in a private moment with one of her mistresses.
Daniela lazily glances up at her motherâs little plaything and grimaces at the sight of her.
âDonât keep me waiting, love. You know I donât like to be kept waiting.â Daniela says as she plants a sloppy kiss on the corner of Desdemonaâs mouth. She casts a menacing look over to Veronica before she turns to walk away, giggling like a madwoman.
Desdemona exhales anxiously and gestures for Veronica to lead the way into the corridor. Veronica ignores the request and leads them to the nearest available window, staring outside and trying to make sense of what she could. The windows were frosted over, ice building up quickly and the view of the outside world was smothered by snow. Desdemona used to like the cold weather, but recently, sheâs developed an aversion to freezing temperatures. She wanted to stay warm and snuggled up close with Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela. She could not admit it out loud, but she ached to be near any of them and there was a profound sense of longing whenever she was away too long. She is changing and she thinks Veronica has noticed.
âYou know, itâs amazing how quickly youâve forgotten that these freaks were responsible for Desmondâs death. Our mothers are out there trying to get a hold of us because we havenât been keeping in touch like weâve promised and now theyâre thinking something horrible must have happened. News flash: your twin brother, my loving boyfriend, was disemboweled in front of us and youâre out here fucking the vampires that are torturing us! What the fuck, Desdemona?!â Veronica shouted, the calm and collected manner in how she usually carried herself in conversations quickly turning up a few notches.
Desdemona was taken aback, clearly not prepared to have this conversation with her best friend though she knew it wasnât going to be easy regardless.
âV-Veronica, I havenât seen you in three days since you Alcina took you and you want to talk about what Iâve resorted to doing for survival?â Desdemona asks, ignoring the way Veronica rolled her eyes at that.
âFor survival or for your sick pleasure, Des? In the past few days since my unfortunate trip down to what I think is the portal to Hell, Iâve seen you and how you behave around these monsters. Iâm worried for you; I think theyâre changing you and I donât like it. I understand being compliant out of fear, but youâve been getting real goddamn cozy with them, like theyâre all your lovers or whatever! I need you to tell me what is going on because from my perspective, it looks like you stopped giving a shit about survival and you are just giving yourself freely to them like some pathetic, spineless slut!â Veronica replies hotly, taking a step towards Desdemona, who doesnât flinch. Daniela was still hovering around the library but she instantly appears next to a bookshelf to observe the conversation more carefully should the other human overstep her boundaries. She pulls out her sickle and grips it tightly in case she has to defend her lover from the loud-mouthed pet her mother enjoyed tormenting.
âYou have some nerve, Veronica, you wonât even tell me what happened to you down there! You donât think Iâve been traumatized by what Iâve experienced so far? I donât know whatâs fucking happening to me anymore! Everything youâre telling me to do, like find weaknesses and whatnot, it all makes sense to me but itâs not sinking in for whatever reason. I have this urge to run away but it goes away when I hear these voices in my head telling me not to leave the girls. Iâm tethered to all of them, V, I donât know how but thereâs this fucking connection I have with each and every one of them and itâs like Iâm in physical pain when I think about hurting or leaving them. Iâm more whole as a person now then I ever was before because of them and I donât know what that says about me.â Tears begin to stream down Desdemonaâs face and Veronica somewhat relents.
She lets out a frustrated sigh and places a comforting hand on Desdemonaâs shoulder, giving it a light squeeze before she speaks to her with a calm voice.
âYou want to talk about traumatic experiences, then letâs do it without downplaying each otherâs experiences. I clearly donât know what youâre going through, it soundsâŠdifficult, and very hard to believe, but youâre obviously bothered by it. Do you want to know what I just went through to get the opportunity to speak to you outside of the dungeon? Another maid paid with her life to grant me this position. The countess dragged me to some dark, untouched part of the castle where we were confronted by this horrifyingâŠslimy, blob creature that looked like a goddamn mutated fetus.â âYou can hear its ungodly laughter as it approached us and from the elevator, Alcina pushed out the other maid that was with us and she locked the door behind her. I had to watch this ungodly science experiment eat another human being alive and Alcina made me watch every second of it. Every bone crunching sound it made and the unforgettable wailing from the poor maid haunts me when I try to fall asleep at night. If it werenât for that maid, I doubt Iâd be up here begging you to come to your senses. I need your help, Dezzy. Please understand how much I need you to see how badly we need to get the fuck out of here.â Veronica finishes as she pulls Desdemona into a hug. Sheâs weeping onto her shoulder now and all Desdemona could do was squeeze her tighter and hold her for longer. Even though Veronica had been ready to throw hands with Desdemona, it was almost always too easy to get her to calm down when she held her like this in her arms. Everything felt normal in that moment, like everything was as it should be but deep down, Desdemona knew that wasnât true. Especially when Veronica sniffed and pulled out a journal, almost like it was a personal diary, and placed it in Desdemonaâs hands.
âI think once you read the first few entries, youâll be a little more comfortable with the idea of leaving this place once and for all, just you and me. I found this while I was snooping around in that horrible part of the castle and I just knew I had to show you. All we have to do is open a few windows and we can do away with lady Dimitrescuâs daughters. Once we get rid of them, we escape mamaâs wrath and run back home where we belong.â Veronica tells Desdemona as she plants a kiss on her forehead. Desdemona did not have much of a chance to respond before Daniela spoke up for her. They hear maniacal laughter echoing from behind one of the bookshelves and itâs all it takes for Veronicaâs sour mood to return.
âGet rid of me and my sisters? Oh you foul human, itâs so adorable that you think you can take on all of us, let alone me. Iâll let you off with a warning because my plaything is attached to you for whatever reason but touch her again, Iâll shove this sickle so far down your throat, youâll be shitting steel. Now back off!â Daniela warns as she approaches Veronica, a move her friend was hoping would happen since they just so happened to be standing next to a window.
Guilt begins to settle in the pit of Desdemonaâs stomach as a new conflict arose from within. She shouldnât be conspiring against her mistresses for they loved and cared for her but then again, she should be siding with her best friend, someone she had known since she was eight years old. She didnât know what to do, her worry beginning to initiate a full blown panic attack. âWhy donât you make me back off, you disgusting piece of rotten filth! If Iâm going to go out, itâs going to be on my fucking terms and Iâm not going down without a fight.â Veronica says as she shoves Desdemona behind her.
Daniela smirks, then raises her sickle in preparation for the fight to come. What comes next sends both Daniela and Desdemona into a panic. Veronica quickly twists around to fully open the window, a freezing cold blast of air hitting Daniela and impairing her almost immediately. The pained shriek she lets out could be felt throughout the castle, but Desdemona feels it tugging at her heart.
âIâŠdonâtâŠdo wellâŠin theâŠcold! You canât stop meâŠmotherâŠwill killâŠyou!â Daniela moans, dropping her weapon as she starts to solidify under the intense temperature change in the room.
The red-haired woman is wildly swinging her arms around and Desdemona can tell sheâs slowing down. Itâs only going to get worse, and Desdemona is torn.
Veronica rushes to pick up the bust of a famous historical figure off the nearest pedestal and slams it against Danielaâs head. She howls in pain and Desdemona has to hold back tears as she watches her best friend attempt to murder Alcinaâs youngest. Sheâs frozen to the spot, painfully aware that Veronica is shouting at her and ordering her to help her but she hears dark whispers in her head again. âDaniela, what on Earth are you shouting about â wait, what are you doing to my daughter?! GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF HER AT ONCE!â Alcinaâs voice booms through the library and it seems to pull Desdemona out of her reverie.
Alcina looks furious as she strides towards them from across the library, her claws beginning to form and from either side of her follow both of her daughters with terrified expressions on their faces as they watch their sister die from the harsh winter cold air. âMother, what about Daniela? Is there anything we can do for her or is it too late!?â âDaniela, no, hold on just a little longer, weâre almost there!â Veronica glances over at Desdemona and tosses over Danielaâs sickle to her. âCome on, Des, itâs now or never, letâs send out the message that we should never have gotten fucked with. Letâs go!â She shouts as she encourages Desdemona to deliver the killing blow.
Desdemona is violently shaking as she observes Danielaâs form slowly start to freeze over and it isnât until she sees the heart-breaking expression on the dying womanâs face that Desdemona decides what to do.
âI donâtâŠwantâŠto die!â She screeches, the words vibrating in Desdemonaâs skull.
The dark whispers tell her that she can still save Danielaâs life and that all would be forgiven should she do so. Her mistress loves her, and she needs her to love her back. Desdemona would have to forsake her old life in order to live out the rest of her days in Castle Dimitrescu but the only obstacle that was left remained alive: Veronica.
Her best friend since elementary school, Desdemona closes her eyes and fondly remembers the first time they met. Veronica brought her Spice Girl dolls to play with at recess but nobody wanted to play with her. Desdemona shyly approached her and asked if she could join in on the fun because she loved the Spice Girls too and Veronica welcomed her into her life. Ever since then, the girls became inseparable. From sleepovers to prom night to celebrating each otherâs eighteenth birthdays by going to LGBT nightclubs, Veronica was like family to Desdemona. After this holiday trip, Desmond was going to propose to V and they were all going to move in together down in Colorado where Veronicaâs mother lived and where V planned on continuing going to school.
Desdemona exhales and steadies her grip on the sickle as she walks towards the open window. She slams it shut, reluctantly turning to face Veronica who was just about to smash the bust against Danielaâs face again. Cassandra and Bela immediately rush over to Daniela and embrace their younger sibling, relief etched on Alcinaâs face for a moment before she refocused her rage towards Veronica.
Desdemona couldnât take it anymore, she knew she had to follow her heart and so she did. âDezzy, what the fuck are you -hhhng!â Veronica begins, her jaw dropping as the heavy bust sheâd been carrying fell to the floor.
The last thing Veronicaâs beautiful dark brown eyes saw were a pair of cold, gray eyes staring at her with regret and soft pink lips mouthing âIâm so sorry, Veronica!â repeatedly. Desdemona pierced through the side of Veronicaâs skull with Danielaâs sickle, her hands twisting and pushing until all life finally drained out of her best friend. The hardest part for Desdemona was watching the light leave those familiar pretty eyes and it was all because of her. When she yanked the sickle back out, Vâs body dropped to the floor with a loud thud and a chunk of flesh remained on the edge of the weapon she had just used on her best friend. Desdemona felt bile rise in the back of her throat, so she turned and threw up, her hands still shaking after she was able to gather her strength to look up again.
Alcinaâs claws retracted as the woman stared down at Veronicaâs corpse before looking back at Daniela then over to Desdemona, who was now kneeling on the ground.
âYou saved my daughterâs life. Words cannot express how grateful I am for your intervention. I understand this may be difficult for you, but you made the right choice. Thank you.â Alcina tells Desdemona, leaning over to place a comforting hand on her shoulder before retreating to where her daughters stood.
âShe saved my life! I told you Desdemona loves me the most out of all of us! She truly cares for me!â Daniela croaks out, trying her best to wriggle free from her sistersâ hold on her but they were stubborn.
âNot bad for her first kill. I prefer a hot blood bath myself, but Iâm seriously impressed. Oh crap, I think sheâs going to freak out.â Cassandra says with a chuckle as they all watch Desdemona react to Veronicaâs death with interest.
Desdemona was sobbing uncontrollably now, her body rocking back and forth as she tries to wipe off the blood on her hands. Her eyes flick over to the sickle with the chunk of brain on the end of it and back to Veronicaâs lifeless body. âIâm sorry, Iâm sorry, Iâm so fucking sorry, V! I loved you more than anything!â She whispers to herself, wrapping her arms around herself for comfort. It wasnât going to last long, however, as Lady Dimitrescuâs daughters surrounded Desdemona and Veronicaâs corpse laying at their feet.
âTonight we celebrate each and every one of you with a feast. This wasnât how I wanted dinner to be served, but as you can see, Desdemona Hawthorne is eager to please. How can we refuse such a beautiful gift from our lovely newcomer? I say dig in, girls.â Alcina declares before she walks over to Desdemonaâs kneeling form and forcefully sets her upright.
âWait- wait, what do you mean dinner is served? What are you going to do to Veronicaâs body?â Desdemona asked with desperation evident in her voice.
Alcina Dimitrescu simply smiled and held Desdemona close to her body, keeping her in place with a headlock so tight that if the younger girl tried to escape, Alcina could easily pull it right off. âYour corruption is not yet complete my dear. I am simply welcoming you to my family and you will become accustomed to how we do everything around here. My daughters love you and you will learn to love everything about them, including how they feast on the blood of the innocent. Now hush, girl, and be thankful you are not the corpse ready to be devoured.â Alcina whispers in her ear before she laughs at Desdemonaâs feeble attempts to escape.
âNo, oh for the love of God, please donât make me watch! Thatâs m-my best friend, please donât do this to me! Iâd rather you kill me now, please, just donât make me watch!â Desdemona pleads and screams but it does nothing, it only sweetens the air around the ravenous vampires who are about to tear into the corpse at their feet. Daniela growls when she uses her sickle to cut off Veronicaâs tongue, Bela giggles as she begins to yank out Veronicaâs piercings one by one and Cassandra has already begun working on tearing out her limbs. âSave me her mouth, I wish to savor the flavor of a pathetic nobody that dared to try and take away my precious Desdemona.â Daniela says as she throws her head back to laugh wildly along with Bela and Cassandra.
Desdemonaâs screams and protests are ignored, Alcina forcing her eyes open as sheâs forced to watch the three vampires consume her best friend. When Bela cuts into certain parts of her flesh, blood sprays out and lands on Desdemonaâs face, causing the young girl to feel faint. She eventually canât handle the horror of watching the girls tear apart Veronica and so she passes out in Lady Dimitrescuâs arms. The last thing she remembers hearing before the world fades to black is Cassandra chastising her mother for laughing and begs her to let Desdemona sleep in her arms instead.

lights low, flames high
5x11 alternate ending where tabitha and betty "vibe" while they're on shrooms, and by vibe i mean make out | read on ao3
The music bounces off the bunker wallsâsmall and insulated as it isâand melts into Betty until sheâs not sure where it ends and she begins. Then again, she supposes the shrooms are partly to blame. Sheâs never been good at relinquishing control, and Jessicaâs words loop in her head. Let the trip take you wherever it may go. Sheâs certain that the budding anxiety in the pit of her stomach is not what Jessica meant. It doesnât help that the last time she was druggedâÂ
Her nails dig into her palm, cutting off that thought. Deep breaths.
âWhat is this?â
Tabithaâs question makes her jumpâthe thought of anyone else in the room long out of Bettyâs mind.
âWhat?â
âThis music.â
âOh, itâs from Hair,â Betty says.
âThatâs that anti-Vietnam musical?â Her lips betray her, quirking upwards in amusement, but nonetheless, Tabitha sways along with it and drags her finger along the edge of the table.
âMost of my musical theatre knowledge comes from Kevin,â Betty admits. She closes her eyes and runs her fingers along the bed. So many memories for a hole in the groundâand mistakes too.
She pushes the thought out of her mind and focuses instead on the feel of the fabric and the pilled polyester of the pillow cover. Its touch is strangely satisfying and absorbing.
âCan I lay down too?â Tabitha asks, and Betty blinks her eyes open and back into focus as the room swims around herâthe red of the lava lamp making the walls look aflame. Betty nods her head before she recalls the spare mattress and hobbles up.
âWait, I have a better idea.â She tugs at the edge of the mattress, but her grip slips and tugs the bedsheet off instead. Itâs hard to focus with her body floating, and she stumbles backward.
âCareful!âÂ
Before Betty can fall into the table, Tabitha places a hand on each of Bettyâs arms and steadies her with a light squeeze. As unexpected as it is, the sudden warmth of someone beside her feels nice, and her breath catches in her throat. With Tabitha this close, Betty noticesânot for the first timeâthe scene of her perfume. Itâs oddly comforting, if unfamiliar. She breathes in slowly, careful not to give herself away.
âThanks,â Betty says, and when she turns around, Tabithaâs hands drop. The sudden lack of contact is inexplicably disappointing, but her mind canât focus enough to linger on it. The music swells around them, swallowing them both, judging by the look on Tabithaâs face.
âWhat were you trying to do?â Tabitha asks.
âThereâs a spare mattress. We can just move them to the floor if I can justâŠâ She tugs at the mattress again, careful this time not to grip it by the bedsheet. And when it starts to budge, she grins.
âLet me help.â
They make quick work of pushing the table to the side and getting the mattresses to the floor, especially considering how much of a chore it is to move at all. Itâs not the most graceful sheâs ever been, but here in the comfort of the bunker, thereâs little to worry about.Â
And the shroomsâBetty has to begrudgingly admit they make things a little softer at the edges. The moment Betty thinks sheâs grasped a thought, it's out of reach. With everything thatâs happened with Polly and the chaos of Charles and Chic, itâs a relief to be floating, untethered.
âYou know this music isnât half-bad, but I donât know how Jessica had time to prepare it when we werenât paying attention,â Tabitha says, and Betty rolls on her side to face her.
âI still canât believe she drugged us. And then left us here with some music like that makes it all okay!â
They look at each other, the intensity of Jessicaâs actions washing over them before Tabitha bursts out laughing. âI have to admit, this isnât how I imagined spending my night, but itâs not so bad. Youâre not the wet blanket Jughead made you out to be.â
The words linger between them for a second, Jugheadâs name harsh and unforgiving.
âI shouldnât have brought him up,â Tabitha quickly adds.
âItâs fine,â Betty says and is surprised by the fact that she means it. The silence draws out for another moment, and Tabitha rolls over onto her side as well. With their mattresses on top of one another, it means that Tabithaâs face is inches apart from hers.Â
Itâs an intimacy Bettyâs nearly forgotten. Glen hardly counts; half the time, Betty doesnât remember himâwhich says something considering his role in recent events. And her training hasnât lent itself to many new friendships. But now, with Tabitha so close that Betty can smell the artificial sweetness of a strawberry milkshake on her breath, it feels reassuring.
âWhat do you think of Riverdale so far?â Betty asks.
Tabitha laughs and puts a hand under her head, propping it up. âIâve⊠never seen a place quite like it.â
âThatâs one way of putting it.â
âWhatâs yours?â
âHaunted. Or⊠Sometimes I wonder what Iâm fighting for. I grew up here, and I have all these memories, but it feels like Iâm holding onto something thatâll never exist. I used to think the town would heal itselfâthat the bad things that happened were the exception, but Iâm not so sure I think that anymore. When it was just Jason and Mr. Blossom, that felt like an anomaly. But then it turned out my dad was a serial killer and Veronicaâs was a power-hungry egomaniac, and Jugheadâs mom came to town and rallied the Ghoulies to sell Jingle Jangle, andââ
âJugheadâs mom did what?â Tabitha asks and stares, horrified and wide-eyed.
The absurdity of it all hits Betty until she canât help but smile. âOh yeah. And thatâs hardly the highlights reel.â Her filterâs too far gone to stop herself, so she adds, âYou know, we set her drug lab on fire.â
Tabitha shakes her head and laughs in disbelief. âHoly shit.â
âAnd I havenât even told you about the cult, or the creepy video store that sold pornos and illegally filmed sex tapes.â
âMy grandfather told me some storiesâmostly about Hiram and Veronica, for obvious reasons.â She hangs her free hand over the mattress, close to Betty, and Betty glances down, distracted by it. âAnd hey, maybe youâre right that this place is cursed, but I gotta believe in it. Iâve invested everything into Pop's, and as fucked up as Riverdale is, I donât think itâs a lost cause. And I donât think youâd have chosen to stay here if you thought that either.â
Betty bites her tongue, ignoring the automatic urge to argue. âMaybe,â she says, but her voice doesnât sound entirely believable, even to her own ears.
Tabitha reaches out prods Bettyâs shoulder with her two fingersâlight and teasing. âI can practically see the effort itâs taking you not to disagree.â
Thereâs no use lying. The shrooms have made sure any knack she has for it is out of reach. âSorry.â
âItâs a little rude, but I suppose I can find it in my heart to forgive you.â She smirks at Betty, and it strikes Betty that Tabitha must be as at ease as she feels. The Flesh Failuresâher favorite song from the soundtrackâstarts to play, and Betty adjusts herself, dropping her hand just slightly until her fingers touch Tabithaâs.
Itâs silly perhaps. But she canât stop the thought of Tabithaâs hands on her arms from flickering through her mind. Itâs been so long since sheâs found a touch that she hasnât wanted to pull away from but, instead, lean into. She waits for Tabitha to move her hand back to her mattress, but she doesnât. The realization takes a second to settle in as Betty watches, her stomach tightening in anticipation.
When she glances up, Tabitha is staring at her.
âI canââ Betty starts, pulling her hand back, but Tabitha reaches out, her fingers hooking around Bettyâs to stop her.
âYou donât need to.â
Her world feels fuzzy around the edges, and Betty canât stop herself as she lets out a breathy oh. The sound of her own heart rises over the music, and sheâs suddenly aware of how hot the room is. Next to her, Tabitha inhales sharply through her nose and leans in.
Bettyâs hit with a brief moment of clarity just before they kiss. It cuts through her, all the emotions sheâs kept curled inside spilling out. They wrap around her as the song starts to wind down, and their lips meet. Itâs tentative and gentle, careful to give Betty room to move back if she wants.
But sheâs tired of overthinking. Her body aches from near-sleepless nights punctuated by nightmares. All she knows is that Tabithaâs lips feel soft and inviting, and, for once, she isnât going to question it. Betty leans in, sinking into the kiss as she reaches out and wraps her fingers around Tabithaâs shirt.
Tabitha cups Betty's jaw, and the feel of her skin against hers is electric. Bettyâs eyes close, and a small whine leaves her lips as she tries to steady herself against the rush of blood in her head and the dip in her stomach. The high is still riding full force, amplifying each little movement they make, and itâs all too much.
Betty pulls back, breathing deeply and quivering.
âYou okay?â Tabitha asks. She squeezes Bettyâs hand as her brow furrows with concern.
âYeah, Iââ Betty struggles to find the right words, so she just nods her head and concentrates on her breathing until she settles into her body once more.
âMaybe I shouldnât have done that,â Tabitha says, although she doesnât look like she quite believes it.
âThis,â Betty says, motioning to herself, âhas nothing to do with you kissing me. Or, if it does, itâs in a good way.â A cautious grin spreads across her face. âCanât say I saw that coming from you, though.â
âWell, you should know better than to underestimate me.â Tabitha grins back.
âIâll keep that in mind.â
The sound of the needle in the runout groove fills the silence, and Betty sucks in a sharp breath before pulling herself up with some difficulty, aware of how heavy her body feels. The mattresses, even just on the floor, look appealing.
âHow do you feel about sleeping?â Tabitha asks, echoing Bettyâs thoughts.
âI feel great about it.â Betty steps over to the record player, lifting the needle up and turning it off before making her way back. She half-falls as she sprawls back out.
Against the scratchy fabric of the mattress, her body feels weightless. It doesnât take long for her to start to drift. She focuses on the sound of Tabitha breathing beside her until her mind starts to wander half toward dreams.
Just on the precipice of sleep, a hand brushes against hers, warm and familiar. Betty smiles, and the dreams overtake her.

Galactica, Chapter 66 (Group Fic) - TheDane/Veronica
A/N: Click here if youâre looking for previous chapters (or here if youâd rather read on AO3). đ«
Last Chapter: Katya decided that parenthood might be in the cards after all, Pearl couldnât get Dahlia out of her head, and Violet worried that Sutanâs friends would never be able to respect her.
This Chapter: Brunches, presents, an announcement, a trip to the champagne room, and a new hire.
***
Sutan opened the door to his apartment, a smile blooming on his face at the fact that the light was still on, which meant Violet hadnât gone to bed yet.
It was after 8, Sutan spending the day with Gigi and then going to a Christmas reception in the evening with Tamisha, his boss pleading with him to please come with her and make sure no one she hated talked to her, Sutan guarding her for the entire cocktail hour.
âViolet?â Sutan called out, hanging his jacket up and toeing his shoes off.
âBathroom!â
Sutan walked through the apartment, the door to the bathroom open. Violet was standing at the sink, her fingers braiding her hair into French braids.
âHey,â Violet smiled and gave him a quick kiss, her lips tasting faintly like sugary lip scrub. âI didnât know if youâd be home, but I got dinner for you too.â
âWhat are we having?â Sutan leaned against the sink, watching Violet who unscrewed the lid on one of her face creams, scooping out a dollop and rubbing it into her skin.
âLentil soup.â
âYum.â Sutan drawled, his tone bone dry.
It wasnât that he hated lentil soup, but heâd never understand why Violet ate it voluntarily when the entirety of Manhattan's takeaway options were open to her.
âDonât act like that,â Violet huffed, holding up her hand with a bit of leftover face moisturizer, silently asking him if he wanted it and Sutan nodded, Violetâs fingers gliding over his cheek seconds later. âItâs good for you.â
âDo I at least get bread this time?â Sutan had to bite his lip not to smile, Violet looking at him like he had grown a second head when he had complained about the distinct lack of bread on his plate the last time she had ordered dinner.
âYes,â Violet rolled her eyes, but she continued rubbing in tiny circles, even dipping her fingers again to make sure she had enough to cover his entire face.
âLucky me,â Sutan wasnât sure if he was talking about the bread, or about the strange little things Violet always tended to do for him, this little traditions of theirs starting in Paris when Violet had needed to get rid of some extra hand moisturiser and had ended up massaging it into his skin.
âDid you have a good day?â Violet ran a finger down his nose, the pressure weirdly comforting, her never ending attention to detail carrying into this as well, the finishing tap on his nose a sign that she was done.
âVery good.â Sutan smiled as he watched Violet wipe her hands, her bedtime routine done for now even though she was still in her work clothes. âBeen all over the city. Shopping, dinner, the whole shebang since Iâm training a new model.â
âGreat.â
Violet wasnât fully paying attention because she had already heard of days like that before, instead grabbing her crutches to get to the kitchen, but Sutan didnât mind.
In past relationships, he would have been interrogated if he had said he had spent the day with a model, Kahmora in particular, always keeping an eye on him.
He hadnât thought much of it then, hadnât even considered that there could be anything wrong with it, after all, it showed that they cared, but he had to admit that it felt amazing that Violet trusted him to do his job and just his job.
âI put your soup in the fridge,â Violet made her way to the kitchen table, sitting down to keep him company while he ate his dinner. âSorry that itâs cold.â
âI donât mind,â Sutan pressed a quick kiss to her temple, walking over to the fridge. âOh. Speaking of.â Sutan looked over his shoulder. âI got you something.â
âYou did?â
âItâs on the table.â Sutan grabbed the container of soup, an order of bread lying untouched on the counter. âWhite plastic bag!â
Just like with the ring dish, Sutan hadnât actually realised how often he just dumped his stuff on his kitchen table, the quick pitstop he had taken at home to change into evening wear just enough time to add to the ever growing pile that Violet patiently stacked against the wall every single day.
Sutan dumped the soup into a bowl, opening the cabinet that hid the microwave to pop it in.
âSutan⊠WhatâŠâ Sutan turned around, looking at Violet who was holding the iPhone 6 box he had picked up at the Apple store. âWhatâs this?â
âA phone?â He leaned against the counter, the microwave humming away. âIâm sure youâve seen one before.â
âI understand that itâs a phone, but why are you giving this to me?â
Sutan paused, that question not at all the one he had expected. He was thankfully saved by a ding, the microwave telling him that his food was ready so he had time to think.
âWell, isnât it obvious? They had the newest model in stock,â Sutan took his bowl, grabbing a spoon before he walked over to the table, Violetâs brown eyes following his every step. âAnd your phone is barely working.â
âI donât think-â Violet pursed her lips, clearly swallowing her words. âI can buy my own phone.â
Sutan smiled. Of course. He should have seen it coming. You wouldnât know it just looking at Violet, his girlfriend so prim and proper from the outside, but she was adorably non-materialistic if it didnât concern clothes.
âYou could, but you havenât, and I happened to be at the Apple store.â
âI-â Violet looked at him, her brown eyes searching his face. âThank you.â
âYouâre welcome lovely eyes,â Sutan captured her healthy foot under the table, holding it between his own. âIâm here for whatever you need.â
***
Bianca picked up the French press and poured herself a second cup of coffee, inhaling the fragrance as she lifted it to her lips. She and Courtney had been in bed all morning, but finally decided to wander downstairs for a very late breakfast.
She looked up to where Courtney stood at the stove, concocting some kind of tofu scramble.
âHowâs it going over there?â
Courtney had insisted it was one of the few things she knew how to cook, happily chopping tomatoes, zucchini, shallots, and pretty much every other vegetable Bianca had on hand before dumping it all in a sizzling wok. Bianca was frankly unconvinced that she knew what she was doing, but told herself sheâd eat it regardless.
âItâs great! Almost done!â Courtney chirped, adding what Bianca noted was a respectable amount of hot sauce for a white girl.
âSounds great,â Bianca said, opening a cabinet to grab some plates.
âItâs so nice having a stove,â Courtney commented. She said it in a breezy, offhanded way, but it gave Bianca pause, turning towards her with a furrowed brow.
âYou donât have a stove?â
Courtney bit her lip, suddenly embarrassed, and explained, âWell, my place is a studio, and...uh, thereâs not like a full kitchen.â
Bianca nodded, doing her best to keep the judgment off her face. No stove meant that whatever place Courtney was renting was not a real studio, and likely an illegal sublet. She shuddered to think of all the potential safety violations in that kind of set-up. Nevertheless, she decided to drop the subject, putting the plates down and slipping an arm around Courtneyâs waist, pressing a kiss to her cheek.
âThank you for making breakfast, baby.â
âAnytimeâŠâ Courtney gave the pan another stir with a wooden spatula before leaning back against Bianca, letting her hold her even tighter.
âSo listen...I, uh...have a proposal for you.â
âOh?â Courtney tilted her head back, one eyebrow raised.
âYeah, so, thereâs this big fucking board meeting scheduled for January 6th, so Iâm probably gonna stay in town over the holidays. I was thinking that maybe you could stay here, while Galacticaâs shut down. With, uh, full stove access. Would you like that?â
Courtney whirled around, her beautiful face beaming, throwing her arms around Biancaâs neck and exclaiming, âIâd love it!â
Bianca leaned forward to capture her lips in a gentle kiss which soon grew deeper as Courtney arched against her, backing her up against the island. Bianca smiled against her mouth, unable to stop the dimples from piercing through as she thought about how lucky she was.
They stayed like that, blissfully wrapped in each other, until Bianca lifted her head to ask, âIs something burning?â
âShit!â
***
âMmh,â Trixie had to bite down a moan, his mouthful of waffles and bacon like an explosion of flavor. âHoly shit!â
âSo?â Katya grinned, looking at him with her blue eyes. âAre they up to the standard?â
Their entire Sunday brunch crew, and even Violet, was gathered in their living room, Katya cooking for everyone, the table stacked with hearty and filling winter recipes like ginger and peach pudding, spiced sweet potatoes, apple pancakes and baked chickpeas.
âTheyâre amazing!â Trixie smiled, shoving another forkful down, the salt and the syrup perfect together.
âAwh thanks sugar butt,â Katya pressed a kiss against his cheek, which made Kim produce a retching noise.
âTake it to the bedroom you two!â Kim threw her napkin at them, which made Shangela snort and Ivy giggle.
âBe careful what you wish for Kimmie,â Pearl drawled, a stack of apple pancakes largely untouched on her plate, âbecause you really donât want them to take it to the bedroom.â
âEveryone,â Max rolled his eyes, even though he was still smiling and Trixie snorted, a sense of pride welling up in his chest at Pearlâs words.
Sure, he and Katya had a tendency to be loud, but how could he not when Katya was the hottest woman alive, her innovation, commands and demands in the bedroom so fun and rewarding to follow.
âActually,â Katya sat up straight, Trixie mourning the loss of her heat for a moment, until he recognized the serious expression on her beautiful face. âTrixie and I have an announcement.â
Everyone grew quiet, all watching them as Katya stood up.
âIâm pregnant...and weâre keeping it.â
At once, the table erupted in cheers, Ivy hopping up off the chair she was sitting on to go hug Katya, while Pearl made a beeline for the kitchen, yelling over her shoulder that she was getting the champagne.
âCongratulations!â Violet smiled, her hands clasped together. âThatâs amazing!â
âIt is,â Trixie smiled, warm happiness filling his entire body as he watched Katya laugh, Shangela joining in on the hug.
âMama! I canât believe you're gonna be a Mama!â Shangela grinned, holding Katyaâs elbow and shaking her. âI thought you were completely set on never having kiddos?â
âI thought I was, but-â Katya looked at Trixie, their eyes meeting across the table. âIt happened and, I mean. Whatâs the worst case scenario? That we fuck up and they become a serial killer?â
âShit, that would be fucked up,â Kim snorted, her eyes widening. âNot that killer isnât a cool name.â
âNow thatâd be something!â Pearl grinned, returning to the living room with a bottle of champagne and several glasses, the stems between her fingers. She bent down, pressing her cheek against Katyaâs stomach. âHi Killer! We canât wait to meet you!â
âPearl!â Trixie swatted his best friend's shoulder, but Katya was laughing, holding Pearlâs head and pressing it against her stomach, and while Trixie seriously hoped his child wouldnât become a serial killer, he had to admit that it was a little bit funny.
âSeriously,â Shangela looked around. âAll yâall need Jesus. Stat.â
***
âCourtney,â Tyra said, rapping on the glass jewelry case to get her attention. âCourtneyâŠâ
âCourt!â Morgan cut in sharply, and at that she finally looked up.
âYou ready to take a break?â Tyra asked. âThereâs a pho place right around the corner that we could try.â
âOh, uh...yeah, just give me a couple of minutes.â
Tyra exchanged a put-upon look with Morgan, who returned her look with an exaggerated eye roll. When theyâd suggested meeting up, neither of them were anticipating following Courtney around as she scoured antique stores to find the perfect Christmas present for Bianca.
Sheâd already found a huge book of 1960s fashion photography, as well as a vintage Hermes scarf, but apparently that wasnât enough for her precious girlfriend. And worse, sheâd been talking about nothing except Bianca all afternoon.
Tyra didnât care if Courtney was gay or bi or whatever, but this slavish devotion to her brand new relationship was extremely tedious, and it made Tyra long for the days when Courtney would date men whose names she forgot three days later.
âOoh, look at these!â Courtney exclaimed, pointing to a pair of earrings. âArenât they beautiful?!â
âNice,â Morgan said, barely looking up from her phone.
They were nice. As annoyed as Tyra was, she had to admit that. They looked like brass, cut into art deco shapes and adorned with garnets, exactly the right style for Bianca, at least from what Tyra could tell from seeing her on TV.
âExcuse me,â Courtney asked the sales clerk, âHow much are these earrings here? I canât see the price tag.â
The clerk took a key and opened the case, pulling out the earrings to examine the price tag before declaring, â$279.â
Morgan whistled softly under her breath and the clerk raised one eyebrow, just barely but enough to be noticed.
âShall I ring them up for you?â he asked drily, clearly expecting her to say no, already moving to put the earrings back into the case.
âUmâŠâ Courtney bit her lip, fingertips resting on the edge of the glass.
âCourt, youâre not seriously gonna spend that much are you?â Tyra asked, appalled. Sheâd seen Courtneyâs apartment. That girl did not have a damn penny to spare.
âYeah, she knows youâre poor, thereâs no way sheâs expecting some expensive gift,â Morgan added.
âNo, I know, butâŠâ Courtney squared her shoulders and looked at the sales clerk, saying, âIâll take them.â
Tyra looked at Morgan behind her back, scandalized, shaking her head. Morgan smothered a laugh with her hand and gave a little shrug as if to say, âItâs her credit card debt.â

Pearl was back at the club again. At 4 pm on a Sunday. Which was totally normal, right?
Right.
She sighed slightly, swirling the whiskey in her glass, unable to hear the clink of ice cubes over the pounding bass. She should definitely leave, she knew that, and told herself that she would⊠She wasnât going to say that she was obsessed, wasnât going to give in to the fact that she couldnât stop thinking about Dahlia, but she was leaning on the side of pathetic, and if there was one thing Pearl Liaison didnât do, it was pathetic.
She probably had to rethink that though, as she handed one of the managers 200 dollars in cash, the man taking her to a small enclosed room, a heavy red curtain blocking out the rest of the club.
Her stripper alias was âSin,â which was both absurdly simple and painfully fitting, Pearl drawn to her dangerous beauty like a spell, hungry for even the smallest taste of her.
Pearl tapped her fingers against her thigh, her lip between her teeth, when she heard a voice come from the doorway.
âWell well well,â Dahlia smirked, pushing the curtain aside. âLook whoâs back.â
Pearl felt her heart skip a beat as Dahlia gave her a slow once-over, her bedroom eyes even sexier when she was so close. Todayâs outfit was a sinful (fitting) red set, a garter belt digging into Dahliaâs soft tan skin.
âMmmh.â Pearl tried to keep her face blank and expressionless, tried desperately to hang onto the last bit of control, but she couldnât stop her heart from speeding up as Dahlia made her way across the room, her palms getting sweaty as she swayed her hips to the music.
âSo,â Dahlia smiled, swinging a leg over Pearlâs lap. âYou know the rules right?â
She smelled like peaches, and Pearl had to dig her fingers into the velvet of the couch she was sitting on.
âNo touching,â Dahlia reminded her, full lips twisted into a smirk.
âIâve never been a fan of rules.â
âGood thing that isnât up to you then,â Dahlia sat down, and Pearl had to bite back a groan as she took her weight, the woman an insane tease. âPromise me that youâll be good?â Dahlia tilted her head, her lips slightly separated, âor I promise you that a bouncer will kick your ass to the curb.â
âShit, right, right.â Pearl nodded, and Dahlia grinned.
âGood girl.â
Pearl swallowed. Dahlia reached out, grabbing a remote from behind Pearl, a small speaker inside their room powering up, and Pearl was in heaven as she began to move.
To call it a dance would be generous, but Pearl didnât care. She was mesmerized by her curves, watching her with rapt attention as she swayed her hips, bent down to slowly unhook the garters, leaving them dangling. Dahlia was sin personified, her bra holding her perfect tits in place, the promise of hard nipples just underneath the lace.
Dahlia turned around, and Pearl knew instantly that she worked out, her ass round and firm, the kind of deliciousness that only came from discipline and hard work. A quick motion and her bra was now unhooked. She let the straps slide off her shoulders, finally dropping the bra on the ground.
âTurn around,â Pearl whined, unable to help herself, and Dahlia looked back over her shoulder, dark eyes flashing with amusement.
âYou really want it, huh?â she asked, and Pearl nodded vigorously.
âUh huh.â
Dahlia turned back slowly, hands demurely covering her chest, lashes fluttering.
âPleaseâŠâ
She kneeled on the couch, straddling Pearlâs thighs before removing her hands, arching up forward to display her glorious tits, brown nipples hard and so, so close.
Pearl bit back a whimper, and Dahlia began to roll her hips slowly, inching closer and closer until her perfect mouth was right up against Pearlâs ear.
âWhat are you thinking about, baby?â
âHow much I hate rules,â slipped out of Pearlâs mouth before she thought better of it, and Dahlia laughed.
âPoor thing...â Dahlia clucked, taking Pearlâs hand from the arm of the sofa and inching it towards her body. First her thigh, skating her fingertips higher and higher up her beautiful tan skin, flashing the naughtiest smile as she got closer to her lace, barely-there panties.
Pearlâs chest heaved, and Dahlia laughed, right in her face, redirecting her hand higher and higher, palm very nearly brushing against one of her pert nipples, finally letting it rest on her bare shoulder as Dahlia ran her own fingers teasingly across Pearlâs.
She arched forward again, those incredible tits grazing Pearlâs own chest. Pearl squirmed painfully on the sofa as Dahlia body-rolled against her, not daring to move her hand from where it was placed, fingers digging into the smooth skin.
She was close, could feel herself on the edge, and orgasm so close just from this, and then suddenly the song had ended, and Dahlia hopped up off her lap, re-clipping her garters, picking up her bra from the floor.
Pearl tried one last hail Mary, hoarsely saying, âGive me your number.â
Dahlia laughed, shaking her head. âNo way. This...this is business.â She gestured to the room around them. âThat would be...not. And anyway, what would your girlfriend say?â
âShe-â Pearl swallowed. âWe broke up.â
âDo you think Iâm stupid?â
âWe did!â Pearl sputtered. âItâs true.â
âYeah, well, even so...you do know Iâm her friend, right?â Dahlia asked pointedly.
âWellâŠâ
âExactly,â Dahlia said, shaking her head again. âYouâre asking for trouble.â
âI want to see you again,â Pearl said.
âYou can see me anytime,â she said sweetly, adding pointedly, âAs long as you bring cash,â before leaving, shutting the curtain behind her.
Pearl let her head drop back against the sofa, a deep sigh leaving her. Fuck.
***
âSo,â Trixie tried not to tap his fingers or look at himself as he watched his computer screen, Skype pulled up.
Trixie didnât like doing job interviews, the process tedious and draining each and every time, living up to Fameâs expectations and wishes difficult on a good day.
Interviews, however, were especially draining when it happened digitally, trying to act natural hard enough on its own when on screen, but as the manager and department head, it was his responsibility to feel out potential hires, to figure out if theyâd fit with his team or not, but he had a decent feeling with this one.
âAre you interested?â
âFuck yes!â
Trixie had to hide a grin, Aurora practically beaming through the screen. She was very pretty with tan skin, white blonde hair and full brows, the striped shirt she was wearing fashionable and fun.
Aurora had an impressive portfolio, her references were decent, and most importantly, she seemed like someone Fame could be impressed with if given time and guidance.
âOh fuck-â Aurora grimaced, the enthusiasm gone for a second before she recovered, trying to play it cool. âI mean yes. Yes Iâd love that.â
âGreat.â This time, Trixie couldnât hold back the laugh, Aurora probably fitting right into his department if she could keep the attitude in check.
âOur legal department will take care of your visa,â Trixie jotted down that heâd have to talk to Rita, work permits always a massive pain in the ass, âbut youâre starting January 10 either way, and hopefully you wonât have to work remotely for long.â

for the wip game: 2, 17, & 35?
Ahh, good choices!! So, âSex Education Goes Campingâ is... kind of exactly what it sounds like. The students of Moordale High are going on one last school trip before their school is closed down for good. Organized and supervised by Colin and Emily, of course. But thereâs more than just the tension of the inevitable goodbye theyâll all have to say at the end of it; Adam and Eric havenât talked since they broke up. Ruby is completely avoiding Otis, who feels terrible about hurting her. Maeve is leaving for America the moment they get back, and doesnât want to make the goodbye any harder by letting Otis try and convince her to stay. Aimee and Steve have just broken up, but theyâre working on being friends.Â
Jackson's eyebrows furrow. Maeve frowns. Otis and Eric share another confused look, as do a lot of others.
Spreading his arms, Mr Hendricks loudly says, "You are all utterly fucked! As am I, and so is Miss Sands! Well, I mean we can obviously find other teaching jobs, but it's not exactly easy, so, technically speaking, we are all very much fucked, you're right, Jackson."
Jackson just raises an eyebrow, then looks away. Miss Sands quickly joins Mr Hendricks on the stage as the students chattering gets louder around the room.
"What Mr Hendricks means to say--" Miss Sands shoots him a quick glare as she leans into the microphone, making him take a few steps back from it (and her) "--is that it doesn't have to be all bad!"
"No offence, Miss," Ruby interrupts, "but you're not the one about to have your entire future turned to shit without your consent."Â
Miss Sands nods, and says, "No, you're right. I'm only losing a job, but you are all losing the chance to finish your education comfortably -- or maybe at all. And I am... so incredibly sorry about that. I truly wish this wasn't happening to any of us. But it is. And we have to deal with that."
"We have to make the most of the time we have left together," Mr Hendricks chimes back in, taking a cautious step towards the podium. "Which is why us teachers and some of your parents/guardians have banded together to give you lot one last Moordale High experience!"Â
More murmuring. Eric and Maeve are already groaning, while Otis looks cautiously hopeful. Many more of them are apprehensive, including the likes of Adam and Ola, but they're sitting up a bit straighter in their seats, waiting to find out the rest.Â
They've all experienced many things at Moordale High, not all of them good, but not all of them awful, either. Some of them have been the best time of their lives, like the performance they put on just a few weeks ago to rid themselves of Hope. And some have an utter disaster like their trip to France.
Most of them are assuming it's going to be leaning more towards the latter. And it feels as though their fears are confirmed when Mr Hendricks excitedly, and dramatically, yells, "We're going camping!"Â
I completely forgot I hastily named it âUncle Shawn the Iconâ for this asjkdhajksh okay so. Auggie starts experimenting with feminine clothes, something that Cory, Topanga, and Riley are more than supportive of. But, unfortunately, people at his school arenât as supportive. When he starts acting different (like Riley in that one episode where she was being bullied), they know something is up, and Cory happens to mention it to Shawn. Uncle Shawn who, after spending that week as âVeronicaâ realized he actually liked presenting as a girl sometimes, and came out as genderfluid. He comes over to have a proper talk with Auggie, and let him see that it doesnât matter what other people say about them. Bonus: Riley mentions it to her friends because sheâs worried about Auggie, and most of them jump to Auggieâs defence.Â
"Auggie's being bullied."
Maya blinks. Farkle sits back in his seat. Stunned into silence. Lucas is shaking his head, and Zay and Smackle share a confused glance at each other.
Then comes the eruption.
"Give me names and addresses," Maya demands, voice like sharp ice and scalding lava at the same time, retracting her hand from Riley's arm. Ready to storm out right now to track them down.
That's exactly why Riley doesn't answer her, but she does look at her like she's crazy, and she says, "Maya! They're kids!"
"I'm going to kill them, what do I care if they're twelve?"
Riley's about to tell her she should very much care, because when they were twelve, they benefited much more from being talked to rather than killed. At the same time, they never did anything even remotely like the kids bullying Auggie.
"Did he tell you why they're bullying him?" Lucas asks, sounding like he can't think of a reason why anyone would want to.
"We already had an idea, and Ava told us this morning. He wants to wear skirts. Not just that, but more feminine clothing in general." She drops her head back onto her arms. "He was so excited to wear one of my old skirts on the first day of school yesterday, and now he won't even come out of his room. I don't know how to help him because he won't talk to any of us."
"Those little b--"
"Language," Riley says flatly, not even having the heart to really care if she finishes her sentence or not. Honestly, she feels like doing it for her. "I know, Maya, I'm mad too. I just don't know what to do about it."
"Say something," Farkle says.
Riley lifts her head and turns in her seat to look at him curiously.
"Your parents could say something to the school," he suggests. "I can't guarantee it would stop them, but if we were vocal enough about it--"
"We?" Riley asks, eyebrows raising.
Farkle looks at her seriously, and says, "My dad could make the loudest noise, and I know he would do it if I asked him to. It's Auggie, Riley. Of course I'm not just going to stand by."
"Yeah, and besides, no one should be bullied for what they wear," Maya adds, throwing Farkle a small smile that he gratefully returns. Then she turns back to Riley. "Seriously, Riles, your parents should say something to the school."
Riley agrees with them. It had crossed her mind this morning, and she's sure her parents are already thinking the same thing. She looks to Lucas, Zay, and Smackle.
Without a question asked, Smackle is nodding immediately, and firmly, a look similar to Farkle's on her face.
"They're right," she says matter-of-factly. Then, with a softer note, adds, "It's unfair for them to get away with trying to stop him from expressing himself. People don't like different and it's..."
"It's wrong," Zay finishes for her. "Auggie doesn't deserve that. Going to the school about it might not help but at least it'll make some noise, right? That would do something good, make people aware that it's unfair the way he's getting treated."
Riley's heart is ready to burst from how apparant their support for Auggie is, and just how serious they are about wanting to help. She smiles at Zay, and he smiles back, reaching forward to pat her hand on the top of her chair.
Her eyes slide to Lucas. He hasn't said anything yet.
I really need to hurry up and finish âClash of the European Boyfriendsâ, I feel like Iâve been writing it for years. I feel like Iâve summarised it before, but Iâll give another quick one just in case -- Thereâs a dinner party being hosted at the Salvatore household, set up by Stefan, Elijah, and Lexi. It was more a way of forcing Damon, Enzo, Klaus, and Stefan to get along, but also a good way to get Hope more familiar with the house for the longterm future. Some awkwardness and tension ensures because you just canât have those four in a house together and not expect something to go wrong. I would love to be able to give a snippet for this but Iâve been rewriting it so much that I canât decide on anything that might actually make it into the finished fic, so Iâm going to skip this one if thatâs okay. Hopefully Iâll actually decide where itâs going and what Iâm doing with it soon.Â
Thank you for sending these, Iâm really having so much fun with it!!Â
