"the depth of the water is really shallow here on the bank so i know for a fact we can walk over this little lake river thing. bodies of water are always the same depth as the way across, they never change. trust me. I grew up in Montana."
La Brea really just. Like. Didn't even google. What chicken of the woods mushrooms. Actually look like. Did they. Just slapped the most stereotypically mushroom looking mushroom on a tree and called it the most common mushroom they probably hear about being found in the woods.
Like i don't claim to be a mushroom expert but I know some basics man. Come on.
On the bright side I'm pretty sure the mushrooms are actually oysters, so still edible so at least she's not killing everybody. But still.

Some things in La Brea remind me of Revo (not in a good way sometimes) :
Crazy scientists messing up the world. Brave soldiers keeping everyone safe. Blonde woman who has an affair with her husband's best friend (not exactly Revo but almost) Surviving without electricity etc. The scared geek who knows more than the others but who's too scared to survive in his own. The two best friends who have each other's back but hate each other (because of a love triangle among other things)
(Maybe writing a crossover in order. It will be funny to see Bass wrestling with a dino, charlie's hunting skills in a prehistoric setting. Etc)

La Brea really is just the new Lost, season 3 out here spinning pretzels lmaö.
For starters when did Gavin have actual gaps in his memory, like first it was visions but now suddenly he's been missing a whole year of his life apparently?? And they just never brought it up till now??? Ok. Not even a "I just thought that was the alcoholism, but now I really think about it, I really am missing way more than I should be even with the drinking, that's concerning..." but go off I guess.
Also this was earlier but lol the second she came in screen I Called It they were gonna be gay, love that for them.
But also also isn't the advice usually keep your elbow down??? Babes... this is the oysters of the woods all over again
I'm high key loving Ty's plotline in the future/past tho lol. (The past of their future bc it's before they fell, but back in their time......gotta love time travel). Bro's like "I'm gonna grab this stubborn ass and this sad mess and we're gonna save their future selves and everyone else in the past...somehow. We got this... Gav- Gavin get back here, I said we got this, you will heal damnit."
Mkay but Veronica getting offered the position on the council while hyping up Luke, and then getting immediately defensive when she goes to tell him and he's startled, like, it was genuinely out of the blue from his pov, everyone called him leader and you never brought up interest in or suggested anyone else be in the council. Genuine confusion when you say "I'll talk you up" and then come back with "they offered it to me" to be like "huh...".
But she didn't even give him time to actually dig in to be a dick about it or not, just immediately got defensive, and apparently had already accepted the position? Which seemed kinda shitty, like you're not gonna even discuss it a little? Like "hey so she offered it to me instead, she said these reasons why, I think you could still fit maybe (or whatever), maybe the three of us sit down and talk it out, but at the very least at least there's a clearing person on the council like we wanted, however this ends" ya know, discuss.
But they just really needed them to have ~drama~ so of course. 🙄 They were getting too perfect and supportive of each other, clearly we need to remedy that for good story telling.
Which reminds me of Ty and Paara, Ty for yanked to 21 but where did Paara go?? Ruth is ruling "while she's gone" but like where she go? 😭 I like Ruth but I miss Paara. I also kinda miss Gavin being treated like the little boy that had been living there like a fkking week ago and remembered growing up there. Now he's just ~an outsider~ that kinda acts like it. Bring back the Gavin that's also Isaiah.

Next month, La Brea will return for an abbreviated final season that will wrap up the show's storylines and mysteries. Jon Seda said that, even though he's on the show, he's been as surprised and excited as any fan would be when he's gotten the scripts for the final season's episodes.
La Brea will begin its final season January 9 on NBC, with episodes streaming on Peacock the day after airing.

A Secret Prison.😯
A Killer Escape.😮
Elite vs Master Minds😳
The Hunt is on.🤯
And I am all in!👣🕵🏽♂️
The Hunting Party, NBC's thrilling new crime drama, follows elite investigators tracking escaped criminals from a top-secret prison. Starring Melissa Roxburgh. Learn why this series is my mid season must-watch.📺
What I want from this elite team of investigators is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in this series.😆
I've always wanted to say this line

I watched two more episodes tonight.
The problem with finally having an emotional investment in a few of the La Brea characters is that now I want All The Gifsets but there are no gifsets. Not of the characters I want, anyway. Not that I can find.
(PLEASE I just need to weep for one million years about Gavin's face and also any moment he and Eve are standing next to each other and/or The Family Unit is interacting, without having to navigate clumsy ff/rewind buttons and wade through Peacock's commercial breaks every time, thank u)
#ricocheting wildly between fandoms like#la brea (nbc)#meanwhile: cannot believe this show is flinging just PEAK whump and caretaking at me with Lucas and Veronica#and I can still only react to it with barely suppressed gag reflex#absolutely fantastic sibling-like chemistry there and NOTHING ELSE

Do NBC’s La Brea fans know about Eoin Macken’s background as Sir Gwaine in BBC Merlin?
Asking because I just saw an ad for La Brea, featuring Eoin, and he is still doing the wonderful things I saw in BBC Merlin, including:
- the sultry hair flip
- lots of intense panty-dropping stares of gorgeousness
- general badassery
Any La Brea fans who want more of that might should watch the BBC Merlin episode “Gwaine”. Eoin features quite prominently there.
And if you want to keep watching after that, well, that’s your decision. ;)

This chilling new crime drama gets major kudos for casting. As star Melissa Roxburgh confesses, the first time she faced off against an actor hired to play a psychotic mass murderer in a tense interrogation scene, she told him, “Ooh, if I met you on the street, I would run!”
When The Hunting Party returns February 10 with its second episode — the first is available to stream now on Peacock — viewers can look forward to plenty of running (and shooting and outsmarting) for Roxburgh, who plays Bex Henderson, a former FBI profiler now leading a team tracking down serial killers who escaped when a top-secret prison was destroyed in a mysterious explosion.

David Astorga / NBC
Nicknamed “the Pit,” the facility, which goes boom in the series premiere, was in a converted nuclear missile silo in Wyoming and housed hundreds whose supposed executions had been faked. The series launches with 10 episodes, each of which covers the search for a different killer. In the opening hour, the hunt is on for a maniac who blinds women as revenge on his mother, who locked him in a dark basement. There’s a government cover-up after the explosion, of course, and the inmates must be nabbed fast.
Bex is up to the task. Roxburgh compares her to Michaela Stone, the cop she portrayed on NBC/Netflix’s Manifest (2018–23). “Bex is tenacious, stubborn, strong-willed. I carry a bit of stubbornness, so I can relate.” The actress also connects to the role thanks to college studies in criminology, including a seminar analyzing the likes of Ed Gein and Ted Bundy.
Still, these are more than your average repeat slashers. The inmates have been subjected to experiments that have further twisted their already creepy minds. (The plot point was inspired by MKUltra, a CIA program that tested psychological torture techniques, in use from 1953 to 1973.) And Bex fears that among the escapees is Eli Johnson (Mark Moses), a killer she helped catch as a teen by listening in on her sheriff dad’s phone calls for clues.
“The prison is a lab that was used [through] many decades by the pharmaceutical industries, the defense industries, the military,” says executive producer Jake Coburn, who runs the show with series creator JJ Bailey. “It’s a government conspiracy that just keeps unfolding.”
Even the president is in the dark, so it’s no surprise that Bex must deal with false information, says Roxburgh: “One thing that drives the mystery is that no one really knows who’s in charge.” Also, the brilliant special agent can’t even be sure who among her squad colleagues to trust.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/667b26c29e1876e36ae9efc22901eee8/95112612c4e4052c-11/s540x810/70aca8c5254d1952836f82ce7466b1fd620abf95.jpg)
NBC
Take the prison warden, Oliver Odell (Nick Wechsler, Revenge), who’s put on the team due to his experience with the escapees. He was Bex’s FBI mentor, but his unethical treatment of a suspect drove them apart. “It’s been [five] years since they’ve seen each other and nothing’s been resolved,” Roxburgh says. “Who is he as a person having done what he did?” Flashbacks during the first episode piece together that fateful past operation, which also brought Bex together with her adopted, now-college-age daughter Sam (Kyra Leroux).
No matter how terribly things ended with Odell, “they shared a lot of love prior,” Roxburgh says. And yes, there was romantic tension, which returns. Plus, “everyone loves a good triangle, so we see snippets of that,” Roxburgh reveals. The third side is a prison guard/former military man, Shane Florence (Josh McKenzie, La Brea). He and Bex bond quickly after sharing stories of past traumas. “Shane becomes Bex’s safe place, someone she can trust completely. But he’s got his own bag of secrets,” Roxburgh says.
The team’s de facto manager is the CIA’s Jacob Hassani (Patrick Sabongui, Homeland), who has long hunted terrorists and traffickers. He reports directly to the attorney general, Elizabeth Mallory (Zabryna Guevara). “Hassani is running the day-to-day operations from the CIA perspective. He’s brought in to clean this up,” Bailey says.
Whoever’s in charge has provided a big budget. The hunters’ massive plane doubles as a war room, so they can quickly fly to destinations nationwide where the escaped killers have been spotted.
They also get a hand from military intelligence officer Jennifer Morales (Sara Garcia, The Flash). Once an ace student in Bex’s officer candidate course in behavioral science at Quantico, “she’s a drop of sunshine in a dark world,” Bailey says.
That world comes through in the series’ big-picture mystery as the team gets clues on who was behind the prison break and why. We’ll learn, says Roxburgh, “how international this goes.” But the more pressing issues come each week as the hunting party does its job. In each episode, says Roxburgh, we’re left to “wonder who’s going to get hurt. And is everyone going to make it out alive?”
