you had been mid-rant, jess fresh on break with a tea towel over his shoulder and hair tousled from the aftermath of mid-afternoon rush in luke’s café. when you had entered, the chaos of people leaving, jess breathed a sigh of relief and his uncle granted him his break.

you were talking about your long day at college – filled with dramatic students and unsympathetic professors, jess was sitting across from you, head perched on his palm staring at you.

“… i didn’t do one of the readings because i used that time to see you instead, god forbid i have a social life because he didn’t care… he just looked right at me and said that i should’ve known the answer.”

jess quirks a smile, a simple ‘how was your day?’ turning into a ramble that he didn’t dare interrupt. he knew you were interested in him, you just needed to offload and then you’d ask how his day was – even though his was significantly more boring than yours.

“anyways, i met paris for a bit during our free periods – she drove down and we grabbed some lunch. so that made me feel better, oh they had the best black coffee! paris loved it! i should take you sometime-”

you take notice into how jess is staring at you, your energy yields as you take it for boredom rather than admiration, the relationship was still fairly new in your defence.

“i would love that, baby,” jess replies.

your eyebrows furrow, your finger that previously runs across jess’ free palm stops. jess matches your expression, hand cupping yours with a small, “what’s just happened?” confused by the sudden silence and change of energy.

“no, sorry, was just rambling. i haven’t even asked you how your day was…” you trail off, looking down to your hands to avoid eye contact in case you might cry. jess tries to meet your gaze, head lobbing down, “it’s okay, i like listening to you talk.”

you look at him, eyes wide and confused, “you do?” jess’ heart throbs in his chest, unsure if you’ve been called out on being talkative or upbeat before, but a topic he’ll bring up another time. “’course, baby.”

your biting your lip anxiously, the need to kiss him very much sitting in your heart, if only you weren’t in the company of small-town eyes – babette sitting across the room. “how was your day?” you ask jess, smiling happily when he takes both your hands in his.

before i dive into this i want to say i decided on the twins names. going off my own headcanon (i don’t wanna hear it) that jj stands for jesse james, im gonna say the twins have names taking inspiration from other figures too. jj’s little brother is called billy, named after another cowboy billy the kid (much like jesse james.) jj usually calls him bill for short, depending on his mood. jj’s little sister is called liv, or olivia — based on olivia newton john. her mother loved grease when it came out so it felt right. jj often nicknames her olive ‘cos it makes her laugh.

but yes, sometimes it does just get too much for jj. as soon as you pick up the phone, you hear the wailing of two children in the distance— and before you even greet your boyfriend he’s rambling down the phone at you.

“hey, hi — you picked up, okay so— y’know i really hate to ask this of you i mean really, you’re not a babysitter by any means n’i don’t want you to think i just keep you around for — whatever, the issue is— i’m goin’ insane. both of these kids are screamin’ and i’ve tried everything man i just can’t do it—”

“jj, slow down. do you want me to come over?”

“please? i mean i’m not one to beg but i will literally get on my knees right now dude i can’t do it.”

they were both in hysterics when you arrived. there were toys all over the floor, a pair of pants, some food too. you step through the mess and find them, rolling about — screaming the house down whilst jj tries to intervene.

it turns out, billy was the first to get upset— and billy being upset and loud made liv get all overstimulated which caused a whole kerfuffle. you separated them, taking a child each and calmed them before putting them down to have an afternoon nap— knowing jj would need the peace and quiet for a little. once you’ve entered their shared bedroom and checked on them, you tip toe out to find jj sat on the couch amongst the mess with his head in his hands.

“theyre out cold, exhausted themselves i think.” you smile softly, easing yourself down next to jj. he jolts, like he didn’t know you were there and sits up suddenly, trying to be subtle about the way he wipes his eyes and sniffs, huffing out a bashful laugh.

“yeah.” he chuckles, cheeks splotchy and pink. you exhale out your nose, resting your cheek on his shoulder as you rub his back. “sorry it’s just, ah— one of those days or whatever. m’not cut out for this, man.”

“s’okay, jayj. it’s hard raising two kids that aren’t even yours. i think you’re doing good.” you muse and he shakes himself off, not wanting to get too vulnerable as he stands up— surveying the mess.

“yeah, it’s whatever. i should probably clean up around here, looks like a bomb went off at the lego store.” he sniffs, averting his eyes as he twists his body to look around. you stand, moving infront of him and placing both hands on his chest.

“or… i clean up, and you also take a nap.” you grin, tilting your head sweetly in a way you knew would help convince him.

“tempting, buuuuut i can’t let you do that, young lady. this is my very humble abode n’i gotta take care of it. so if i could just—” he goes to move you aside but you dodge him, standing your ground with a grin.

“well, you’re my boyfriend and i gotta take care of you. so now what?” you challenge and he huffs out a chuckle, shaking his head as he whips his hat off his head— slightly vulnerable still.

“i’ll have you know, i’m meant to be taking care of you, girlie.” he pokes your waist and you giggle, trying to force him back on the couch.

“you’re difficult.”

“rude, you’re sexy.”

you bust into quiet laughter, careful not to wake the kids as you finally manage to wrestle him back down on the couch, straddling his lap to make sure he stays down. “hm, i like where this is going.” he wiggles his eyebrows.

“its nap time. go to sleep.” you cover his eyes with your hands and he smirks, his lashes tickling your palms.

somehow he smirks wider, "we both know im not doing that. show em."

you growl.

Why I like them/why I don’t: he's truly one of the most Certified Yugioh Real Ones, between him and axel these guys were putting their everything into fighting the good fight and thank GOD. and just like. jim's just so completely ridiculous in truly the most yugioh of fashions. my guy's got a crocodile with him at all times. and he loves her SO much. you have to love it

What I like about their appearance: i love his black leather fringe vest and the orange bandana. kind of butch asf if i may be so bold.

Do I prefer their dub names or original names? same in both! it's a good name. like yeah that's definitely a jim.

OTP: at this point i dont even 'ship' jim/axel it's just canon in my brain. theyre married, your honor. those two were going through a homoerotic war movie in the middle of yugioh gx season 3 THEY DESERVE A HAPPILY EVER AFTER

Look, I don't know if there were meant to be parallels between the RELATIONSHIPS (though @butchjess put together an AMAZING series of comparisons between Lucy/George and Rory/Jess that are... The similarities make me INSANE!), but CINEMATICALLY speaking? I wouldn't at all be surprised if they took some visual inspiration from A Room With A View when it came time to film Rory and Jess's first Big Romantic Kiss. The way they're both outdoors in nature? And the camera is behind her when she first sees him from a distance where she has to walk downhill to approach him? The way one of them just GRABS the other one in a sudden, passionate kiss? (it's George in the first case, but Rory in the second, which is really interesting...) The way the kiss gets abruptly interrupted and the girl runs away? Yeah, there's... Something there. And while I've seen gifsets that parallel the Literati kiss with the film version of Pride and Prejudice, that film wasn't made until 2005- a good three years AFTER Rory kissed Jess for the first time. A Room With A View, however? Had been well-established as an iconic Romantic movie for quite some time by then! So... I'll probably never know for sure, but I do wonder...

do au squared jesse's feelings of inadequacy or self hatred mean he ever neglects baby, physically or emotionally?

yeah :( i know im number one conflict avoider but giving a 24 year old drug addict who experiences The horrors a literal infant to take care of is not going to go perfectly. he makes a lot of mistakes early on due to ignorance and sometimes due to being high or just not paying the right attention, but thats part of the learning curve and theyre more like direct concrete mistakes that he can be like "oh shit" and try to fix. as the show goes on and things just continually Get So Much Worse though, jesse understandably feels Tormented and like hes the source of the evil thats slowly poisoning his life and that really exacerbates his ongoing inner conflict of "wanting to be the sole provider for baby and not trusting anyone else to take care of her, but also feeling disgustingly inadequate and like his poison is eventually going to destroy baby too". when hes in his really low pizza sonic crackhouse place, he struggles the most with this conflict and does emotionally neglect baby because he Thinks this is the correct course of action. he's a murderer and the bad guy and baby shouldn't even be close to him. he leaves her with demi whenever he possibly can and is distant and sad when she's around, feeling even worse every time he looks at her. obviously, baby doesnt understand wtf his damage is and gets upset as they spend more time apart both physically and emotionally, which just reinforces his notion that he's bad for her.

jesse's on the verge of straight up handing over baby to demi despite the absolute agony that would cause him when a night comes that throws everything back into perspective for him. it's shortly after the "gus decides to invest in jesse and keep him from killing himself" arc begins where the Party is beginning to wind down, but theres still some people around and hes still using intermittently. hes coming down from a high downstairs when he hears baby crying upstairs in her room, which he always keeps closed and locked with one of those child proof (and meth head proof) locks so no "guests" can never enter her room. her crying doesnt just trigger that parent, "let me go see what they need" reflex: it Hurts him. terrified that someone got in and is hurting her, he hurries up the stairs and fumbles with the lock for a long moment before finally managing to let himself in. there's no one else there, thank god, just baby wailing in her crib. he picks her up, automatically checking to see if she's wet (nope), then notices that she feels a little warm. he knows by now that babies get sick all the time—"u look away for five minutes and they'll start running a fever," mike will say to him later on during a drop—but that realization still feels awful. jesse's about to have the "i did this and baby needs to be away from me" thought and call demi when baby makes her grabby hands. desperate for a hold. desperate for Him. he obliges, holding her close and feeling her little body wiggle around to eliminate any possible space between them. she wants him. in spite of Everything, she wants him specifically. he ends up sitting there in her room for a long while, just cuddling her as she cries and eventually calms down and nuzzles his neck even though his scruff is probably all scratchy. there's stuff to do (the baby thermometer is downstairs and he should still have some infant tylenol around), but he just sits and cuddles her first. baby still loves him. he hasn't poisoned her and the distance has just been hurting the both of them instead of protecting her. he loves his baby so, so much and he promises her in his head that he's going to be better for both of them. they both deserve it.

i was REAAAAALLLY into life is strange in the fall of 2021... hold on post on hold i can't believe its coming up to 2 years since i first watched my friend stream it. fuuuuuuuck. anyway. i had this life is strange in the fire emblem three houses universe AU gdgjnf like. the LIS charas were in FE3H and were in the diff houses and stuff. i didnt have too much of it fleshed out but i had this idea for rachel and max with rachel basically taking the role of sothis and oiiuggh i still love the idea so much

also had a danganronpa in a fire emblem three houses universe and vice versa... and for these i had more ideas for the DR in the FE3H universe AU for some reason. i think coming up w/ classes and backstory was easier for me idk. i remember having this whole thing written out.... i actually have a whole doc if anyonne is interested.... its real old and bad though so i probably wont share it publicly but 🤷 we'll see. came up w/ most of the ultimates / talents for the FE3H guys... didnt come up w/ much more than that however. i think coming up w/ whos gonna kill who + motives + murder details was too much for me to handle. hence why i dont have tooooo much w/ this AU. i really do want to go back to these one day though

Anyways heres my question (idk who else to ask): is this similar to albuquerque having those statues of walter white and jesse pinkman or am i off base

Because theyre both fictional criminals theyve decides to dedicate public art displays to which is really funny

it is like that, but i do think thomas shelby is more “for the people” than walter white or jesse pinkman were. while breaking bad was no doubt set in albuquerque, i don’t remember that being entirely of too much consequence to the overall plot. like, i imagine they could’ve put it in another town, and it would’ve worked still. but the fact that peaky blinders was set in birmingham was massively important to the characters and the plot. birmingham was poor and low class, and the characters as a result started off poor and low class, and gradually made their way up through crime. i think breaking bad and peaky blinders are very similar in the sense that they are both about men who fall into lives of crimes because of necessity and are too good at it to stop, and sort of let it ruin their lives, but peaky blinders diverges in the sense that thomas shelby genuinely believes in doing good for the people. he wants to save the world. he just has a terrible way of going about it

but also i do believe they got those murals simply because men love peaky blinders. british gangsters? sign them up. so yeah it’s exactly like that

since burzek were already kind of together before becoming canon in s10- do u think the show will treat them as new exciting couple in 11 or old boring married couple? i worry it will be the later and we will not get many scenes of them as we did when they werent canon. its what happen w upstead. we got less upstead after they become canon. we had more scenes of upzek in s6 when they were together than of when upstead dated in s8. though upstead did have more romantic & heartfelt scenes than upzek ever did but not enough & it didnt last long. bc then came s9. 9a was mostly tense & angsty for them, mid season finale of 9 they got married, then 9b focused mostly on burzek so we didnt get much of upstead then s10 happened them. then they get married mid season finale & after that we get nothing from them. they were given the boring married couple treatment. then he leaves in 10. its possible the writers & gwen were planning to make 10a about upstead married life but then jesse choice to leave. idk. i know burzek isnt really married but they kind of are? theyre more of old married couple than new couple imo. the only thing i see changing about their rs is they make out & sleep together on the regular now but other than that everything else is same no?

Robaire

In the beginning robaire was probably stuck up and a little snobby.

NOT TO MUCH just a little..

Of course now he loves his friends!

When it came time for Jesse to introduce his kids to the group robaire was the most anxious one out of the group. He loves them so much and was really nervous about getting them to like him.

He’s the push over uncle.. he literally is..

“Uncle robaire!” Can we get that big teddy bear!”

“Ah.. c’mon guys you know your dad said I couldn’t get y’all anything this time..”

“Oh..” *looks down sad*

*robaire to cashier* “yeah I’ll take two-“

HE GETS AND DOES EVERYTHING FOR THEM!

But it’s not just them he likes to buy things for, NOPE ITS EVERYONE!

Strong believer in retail therapy

His parents? Bought them a house once he got the money and a car! They adore him and are very grateful!

Even though he doesn’t need to, sometimes he’ll buy things for the rest of his band. He’ll donate to whatever Charity Tae is promoting, he’ll buy clay for Jesse, etc.

Robaire definitely writes for the romantic/sad/flex songs.

Yeah he used to be stuck up but now he’s the charismatic leader yk? He’s cool about everything but sometimes he can panic and mess up but it’s okay because in the end he has the groups back and they got his. That’s all they need.

In the BTS bloopers he’s definitely the one laughing not really participating in the fun but just watching happily from the sidelines! *laughs loudly and non stop*

Jesses a laid back artistic guy.

He loves his kids they’re his whole life.

He also admires his friends!

While robaire is know as the romantic Jesse also loves to write poems in his free time. To no one in particular of course. He just likes to imagine pretty girls (or guys) and writes poems about them which is how he gets most of his song lyrics

they’re definitely a bromance going on between him an robaire.

He loves how robaire is with his kids. Although sometimes it is a little hard trying to get him to be a stern with saying no to buying them things.

“Hey Jess! We’re home!” *kids giggle as Jesse walks into the front giving them both big hugs. Kids run into the house*

He loves making pottery and has made some for his bros. Along with paintings and other gifts where he uses different mediums of art.

Although He’s really chill about everything something’s that can get to him is: paparazzi following him everywhere. (Every time they bother him he doesn’t pay them mind and tries to walk away from the situation without talking and just throws smiles and neutral gestures they’re way) Fans violating the bands privacy. (Now don’t get him wrong He love his fans but hates it when he or one of the other band members run they’re hand into the crowd and feels they’re rings getting grabbed off of they’re hand or when they dive into the crowd and get they’re accessories taken. It’s not like they can’t replace it it’s just a little irritating) and lastly he hates Hates HATES personal invasive questions. (SPECIFICALLY when it about his kids. He won’t mind any questions he just hates questions about them. He just wants them to live a normal quiet life. It’s one of the rules when he goes to interviews is they CANNOT under ANY circumstances ask about his kids. When he’s interviewing one on one and the reporter asks he’ll laugh awkwardly and just not answer. But when he’s with the band getting interviewed, everyone just smiles or chuckles awkwardly and ignores the question. PS. The Aaron’s are totally given the reporter annoyed or disgusted faces #westantheaarons)

Tae is a big ol sweetheart <3

He definitely loves and tries to write great love/cheerful songs! Although he himself isn’t much of a writer he manages.

Totally has many pets that he’s rescued! (Dogs, cats, birds, snakes etc) all kept separately but all well taken care of!

Tae probably dreamed of being a vet when he was younger.

He’s also a good cook! Or that’s what he thinks lmao. He kinda thinks that since he has made many special gourmet meals for his animals that he can just do the same to human food but uh… somehow he’s completely roasted six pots/pans and has burnt water.

He loves to watch people make food though. Tae most likely has a bunch of muckbang in his recommended and is subscribed to a lot of YouTubers who make that type of content.

HE TOTALLY TIRES TO GET THE OTHER GUYS TO PAINT THEY’RE NAILS WITH HIM SO THEY MATCH BUT IS ALWAYS TURNED DOWN SO HES HAD TO SNEAKILY PAINT THEY’RE NAILS AT NIGHT

Tae is definitely the favorite uncle You know?he’s just so fun! And he lives to educate the kids about animal and wildlife in general. it makes him happy seeing their smiling faces when he gets to go out on the town with them.

In BTS bloopers he’s totally the one to try to keep peace but ends up encouraging the bad behavior in the end and creates more chaos. “Aaron!” *both Aaron’s in unison* “what?” “no! I mean what…which Aaron was it..?”

Aaron T.

He’s a kidder alright. He can’t take anything serious until it’s slapping him in the face!

Aaron T was actually the one who suggested they be called “4★TOWN” instead of “5★TOWN” because he has the same name as Aaron Z. So technically they and I quote “count as one person”

Of course they went with it. It was funny.

Uncle T is the uncle that they barely get to see because of his reckless nature. He usually sees them when Aaron Z has them but he’s not allowed to take them anywhere by himself because he himself…is a child.

He’s totally the one to slip up and say something inappropriate teaching the kids it on accident.

“Your mom!” “Where’s you learn that?” *T sweats* “uM-“

T feels closer with Jesse and Aaron Z then anyone else in the group and is able to confide in them. Although the whole time he will be cracking jokes.

Is shipped with Aaron Z a lot so they —Mainly T though—play onto sometimes it leading to funny situations

He definitely writes genius lyric’s for any song.

Loves joking a playing around but he also has a small love for baking! He loves to make macrons, cake, tarts and other sweet treats! It’s his stress reliever! If he ever stresses about a songs performance on the radio he’ll just bake a couple cupcakes help tae’s stress eating and to help himself calm down

Fun fact: T is the only one that can make Z smile. Yup!

This is important because whenever Z cries and needs someone to cry to Aaron T is always there. That doesn’t mean he’s the best a comforting though…

He gets hurt at the smallest things and cries in his dressing room for ages! Aaron T Knows this and is usually by his side comforting him.

*Z sobbing* “*pat pat* it’s gonna be okay Z! I’m sure he didn’t mean to step on your shoe!” “He did it because he hates me and hates my dances! I knew that new manger didn’t like me! I’m a failure!” *sobs into hands* *doesn’t know how to comfort Z and panics internally*

Aaron Z. Loves dance as we all know but he totally loves making extra choreography in his spare time too! Tae and Aaron T. Are the main ones that actually enjoy his extra sets. Not that Robaire and Jesse don’t! But they usually don’t participate but instead they watch.

Aaron Z. doesn’t really write more or do he just beatboxes so whatever the band needs he’ll provide flawlessly.

He loves spending time with the band but mainly hangs out with tae and Aaron T.

Aaron Z is totally the cool unbothered uncle! He’ll cover for the kids anything they do anything!

Once he meets jesses kids he totally teaches them choreography. AND THEY LOVE IT

hello mcsm community. this is a repost of a long ass twitter thread i made so i apologize in advance if its formatted weird (and sort of disorganized). but heres some of my Thoughts and analysis on radar. i have much more to say than just this of course but HERE WE GO! radar insaneposting tumblr edition. long post incoming (i worked very hard on this)

ANYWAYS!

- he idolizes the new order and puts them on a pedestal above himself a bit. i mean from some dialogue it's clear he doesn't have the highest opinion of himself but he treats the new order smiliarly to how they felt about the old order in thw wither storm arc

- i have mentioned this several times but the "prison radar" thing definitely comes across to me as him trying to overcompensate (and mimic those he sees as "strong" like petra and jack) sort of. like if you contextualise it with how a lot of the characters called him weak an episode prior and it definitely seemed to have an impact on him its like. yeah. especially being thrown into a situation like w/ the sunshine institute and the whole iron breathtaker thing that has Got to fuck you up. idk i jusy see a lot of people take that at face value like "oh look he's being silly" when it comes across to me as more like insecurity ig?

- hes so autism its unreal

but yeah the whole thing kinda fucks him up

ig the only thing thay kinda bothers me is that arc doesnt feel finished. and also jesse can ENCOURAGW him to act like someone hes not??? OH AND. id like to point out this thing also involves him trying to break his own strict patterns which is p interesting to me. by this i mean the "disregard my bedtime! break whatever rules I feel like! within reason!" he seems to feel that in order to become stronf he has to be like. less caring of the rules w/e but the "within reason" line and the fact that he dislikes things being disorganized still is like. he doesnt Want to act like this. he doesnt seem to like thag but he feels iys the only way he can be strong and adapt to such a lifethreatening situation (to act like someone he clearly isnt)

another point id like to make is his relationship with Stella. it isnt really explored past this one scene in episode 2 of s2 but god there's a lot to unpack here

"you'll never change" - has stella... always been like this?  even when radar worked under her (which HAS to be at least a year before s2 bc apparently he's been working for jesse for about a year)

 also she calls him a "quitter" which. 1. has a negative connotation meaning that she Does Not Approve of him leaving 2. implies he quit of his own accord. this isn't normal former boss/former employee interaction though something definitely happened. like theyre both Weirdly Hostile and this is never brought up again....... ehat happened.

also "he doesn't even know how to use a sword" this part stuck out to me but Considering this thing i noticed a few months ago about how the mcsm world is very. survival oriented and people who can slay powerful monsters (i.e. old order) are looked at with high respect. so basically she's calling him weak here which is. Huh. also "you don't know anything" girl what happened.... why does radar feel he has to prove himself like that...

"id be careful about counting on him for anything" what did she mean by this. did radar fuck up in some way unintentionally and it pissed stella off or something??? because something clearly happened and im very sad this is never explored further bc this is a fucking interesting plot point.

also. the last image...... this is so fucking interesting regarding radar as a character because it does actually provide context for the whole prison radar thing. like holy shit this says a lot. the first line kinda shows his insecurity already. he's aware people don't believe in him and think he's weak and a coward, but he's going to try anyway. he feels he has to prove himself kinda.. like "you'll see! i can do it watch!" and considering his behavior in this episode it shows. he's overcompensating for that fear and trying to prove that he can be enough to make a difference. especially shown by how he reacts when "Vos" tells him he's not up for the task. he's trying, it isn't enough, so he decides to mimic his heroes and pretend to be someone he isn't (which... unfortunately half the cast doesn't take seriously)

the second line proves my points more. "im not the person she thinks i am anymore" raises a lot of questions on what happened ofc but there's also the "I can be different. Braver. If that's what the situation requires... I'll do it." and guess what! he *does* do that! a combination of pressure from people telling him that he can't do it and he'd just get hurt in the process and is too weak and cowardly to really do much + the stress of the situations he's thrust into seems to sort of catalyze his decision to put on the "prison radar" persona and pretend to mimic his heroes and act strong to not only make a difference and mean something but also to survive The Horrors . but he doesn't want to do this, that isn't who he is as a person, moreso what he feels he has to do. also thinking of pne line where he says something abojt the "incredible misery in the world crushing down on you". like this is a random throwaway line?? clearly the entire situation of s2 is Getting to him but he never really gets to Express that

now ofc like i mentioned this arc is in no way perfect. it's fucking interesting but it feels unresolved and forgotten by episode 5 along with the other characters completely ignoring the fact that that isn't who he is along with jesse even praising that in some dialogue options. like the writing of this kinda confuses me because everything radar says and feels up to that point implies that it's a façade built to be what others want him to be and as a stress response but some later things kinda treat the way he acts as a Good Thing and like ???? like i get it if they wanted to do the "being more courageous" arc sure. fine. but this doesn't seem like it was simply written as that. he does Not usually act like how he does during the "prison radar" thing and its just never addressed. which fucks me up bc this is personally one of my favorite character arcs of mcsm due to how complicated and insane it is + hes one of my favorite characters ever and i relate to his issues a lot but instead thw writings kinda ????? but yeah. its always bothered me really but to be Fair mcsm was hit by a lot of budget cuts that affected the plot like dont even get me started on the scrapped assistant to the warden who sesms to be meant to be the antithesis to radar kind of... and im p sure some episodes had different writers. so yeah this sucks but it isnt gonna piss me off that bad I just wish his arc was handled a bit differently. might potentially write something or w/e about this but anyways if you read this entire thread 1. you're insane 2. we do a little trolling. follow me mcsm truthers
