Why you dislike MalleYuu? Im just curious but I respect your opinion if you dont want to.

No worries! Honestly, this is kind of a vent so I’m putting this underneath a cut and not putting this into the main tag, so please feel free to scroll past if you don’t want to see me complaining.

Firstly, I dislike Malleyuu because of how fans always come proclaiming that One scene between them means endgame romance. I get that it can be in a joking manner, but also, since it’s the internet, it’s hard to tell. And it gets really tiring to see it over and over and over. 🤡

It’s also really funny because you have Ace going “hehe would you like sleeping in our room :)” but none of you are gonna go awooga over that? 😭 but then Yuu invites Malleus to VDC because hey why not, invite a friend right? And then everyone goes “AAAAAA ENDGAME SHIPPPPP”.

Now while that’s one main reason why I dislike the ship, it’s not The main reason.

My biggest peeve about the ship is that it feels invalidating to everyone else. So you’re all going to say all the Yuus that people made to ship with Malleus are the only ones good enough for validation? You’re just going to brush off every other sona shipped with other characters out there but hype up sonas with Malleus? The Malleyuu week that happened at one point in the year? In unfiltered words, it hurt. A lot. You guys will only celebrate Malleus stans? Really now?

As a blogger who really loves to talk about Octavinelle (especially Azul), it’s honestly demotivating when my inbox is always filled with Malleus and not Octavinelle and when my Malleus posts have much more clout than other posts that I put more time and energy on.

Character-wise, Malleus just doesn’t interest me. I’m not into the lonely boy trope. In fact, his grandma’s more interesting to me 😂 I can’t really think of any interesting theories for him aside from any UM possibilities, but even then, ehh? Him being so overpowered also doesn’t help. So when people keep sending me asks about him, I find myself feeling so tired that I either write a half-hearted response or delete altogether. And I really only write a response because I don’t want to be unfair to everyone 😭 but of course, I have my own limits too.

And when Malleus posts get so much more clout? Please, one of my top posts is just an anon submission about Malleus’ eyes and that got more popular than character posts I made? So what does this say? That people will ignore the posts I put my heart and soul into just because it’s not him? That I have to force myself to write about someone that I’m not interested in at all just for people to look at my blog and want more from me? That I won’t be as loved in the community as Malleus stans? Is that it? I have a number of long posts in my drafts, and each time, it gets unmotivating to do them because what if it’s going to be brushed aside after all that I’ve done?

It hurts, honestly. Even if I try not to show it, it hurts.

While irl will always be the first and foremost reason why I sometimes won’t be seen posting or reblogging, seeing Malleus getting the clout is also a reason why I lose the energy to even post something. Sometimes, I’d get the urge to just put up a second post asking you all to stop talking about Malleus for the time being because I’m tired of talking about him. But I try not to because I don’t want to be unfair again about who to talk about.

It also reaches the point that when people lovemail about him or him and Yuu, I get irritated or uncomfortable. I can ignore it in a server (and heck I’ll be likely to bulli), but when it’s lovemail in DMs, that’s when I feel blegh about it. And I can’t just ask people to not lovemail about him 🥲 because that’s just being mean, right?

So yeah anyway :’) congrats I guess if you read thisbto the end.

Hello Zak! Once again, you being interested in a thing and making content for that thing has invested me in the thing. The problem this time is that I would probably not enjoy the game, for the simple fact that I am a lesbian, and from what I’ve gleaned there’s a lot of romance with men. Basic Training

This post has been sitting in my drafts for months now, during which I've come up with a few ways I wanted to write this post. This is what I've come up with.

Basic Training is the episode which made me hate Ben the most. The whole episode consisted him of being a stuck up brat only to be rewarded for it in the end.

This episode was the perfect opportunity to have Kevin in the spotlight and show how skilled and smart he is.

Gwen's presence in this episode was actually fine, there's no change needed for that.

Look, I know the shows named Ben 10 but we have seen Ben be the hero tons of times already.

And Ben being egoistic about his heroism is not something new in the franchise.

There have been episodes on the OS where Ben got a big head, yet I dont ever see anyone complaining about that.

Was is it because he was 10 that we excuse this behaviour? Nope.

15 - 16 is still pretty young and his attitude can be excused at this age as well.

My opinion? It was handled better in the OS.

There were times when Ben wasn't always the main focus.

In Lucky Girl, Ben has his ' who's your hero?' Moment.

They showed Gwen feeling jealous and hurt by the fact she wasn't noticed much.

It was realistic.

Then the epsiode proceeded to focus on Gwen , having Ben being kind of like a sub plot to the story.

Towards the end Ben compliments her.

So yeah Ben got big head, but at the same time they shifted focus so that the audience wouldn't find it annoying.

Gwen was in the spotlight for a bit, giving people a break from Ben.

Secondly  , in Be Afraid Of The Dark, Ben again is shown to be slightly stuck up, but towards the end of that episode he learns and acknowledges Gwen and Grandpa for help and understands his crime fighting is more of a team effort.

In Galactic Enforcers, we are shown there are other heros besides Ben as well.

Ben wasn't the sole focus of that episode. Yes it was about him but also about the Galactic Enforcers.

I don't think he was shown to be over confident here , but it was nice to see some other heros in the scene.

The Ben 10,000 episode focuses on how Ben was too focused on his job and the lesson at that was Ben needed to relax and have them Galactic Enforcers take the lead instead.

Again , his attitude towards everything was brought in focus but towards the end he learnt something.

I recently started watching Generator Rex and I can't help but compare Rex's character to Ben's.

Rex is also proud , rushes into things and considers himself to be a hotshot. But they also show him being down ,having trouble with his nanites and actually voice out his insecurities.

He's still the hero, still has things go his way most times but it's not annoying like Ben.

( I've only seen like 7 episodes so far so I don't know if this going to go down hil or not but so far so good)

The issue with the sequels after the OS was that Ben was the focus a bit too much.

We as the audience were rarely ever given a break from him.

Other than a few conversations here and there about his attitude,  nothing really was done about it.

Gwen should've been appreciated more for saving Kevin and Kevin should've been appreciated for stopping Aggregor.

But they weren't.

If it had been Ben , they would've made sure to show him getting some sort of recognition or trophy.

Back to the Basic Training episode.

We know he's the legendary Ben Tennyson, we know he's a hero. We didn't need another episode on it.

Instead the plot should've focused on Kevin. His skills, his abilities.

Ben would act the same but Magsiter Hulka should've put some sort of cover so Ben couldn't use the omnitrix.

Ben goes on breaking rules,  and having a hard time being a hero without the watch.

Towards the end, it should've been Kevin who cracks the case and saves Hulka. Ben is mad he can't use the omnitrix but instead uses the guns and other weapons he's learnt to use at the academy

He's not amazing at them , but it makes him realise that he is hero , watch or not, something that has been emphasised in the show. Its not impossible for him to function without the watch.

Towards the end, Ben getting a 95 was a stretch. I'm sorry , but the guy wasn't great with using weapons and without the watch I dont think he would've been able to complete that hostage excercise.

I'm thinking more like 89%.

Gwen gets 98, that's fine and Kevin gets a 100.

Hulka comes in and awards the medal (?) to Kevin, suggesting he's becoming more like his father.

( im ignoring the ret con, plus the retcon I'm assuming wasnt thought off at this point by the writers)

Ben is shown to take one of the guns back to earth, because he thinks they're cool and he wants to practice and get better at them.

The whole hostage situation makes him want to get better at making strategies.

Yes he's good at improv, but he needs to learn to properly plan as well.

It doesn't matter if he's never shown to use the gun ever again, and he's back to relying on the omnitrix.

Or maybe some time down the line, he could use the weapon, even if it for a second, to show that he is improving and getting better.

Before you say 'he's already a hero, he doesn't need to learn anything ' sorry but no.

He's 16. He may have saved the world but he still has growing up to do. Different battles are going to arise all the time.

Saying he is perfect at 16 is dumb. Saying he's perfect when he's ben 10k , it'll make some sense. He's been around for a while and is pretty experienced.

The watch is a part of him, but seeing him try to explore other options would've been a fresher idea.

Another scene that made me mad was the court (?) scene in Vreedle, Vreedle.

Ben being a hero shouldn't make him above the law.

Domstol ruling in favor of Ben just because he's the legendry Ben Tennyson was stupid.

After Ben's little monologue , and destroying Domstols desk, the judge should've just informed him that being a hero does not excuse him from following the law.

Kevin could've had his little moment doing some negotiation ( would've been nice to see how he works as con artist) and Ben could've jumped in and helped while making some good points for the argument, showing us he's not stupid.

Then having Domstol rule in their favor would've made sense.

On the way back to earth there could've been a joke about how Ben watches Judge Judy too much which is where he learnt about trials and stuff. Or maybe Gwens dad taught him a thing or two at some point.

All this doesn't mess with Ben's character all that much, he's still the hero of the show, he still has his ego but it makes him more likeable, shifts focus from his attitude, and shows us he's pretty smart and is growing into a good hero.

Ben's not a bad guy. I mean he is the hero of the show. There are tons of scenes which show he's good , like the whole sacrificing thing so the ultimates could live and all.

But little scenes here and there tend to be enough for someone , especially for someone who isn't a super hard-core Ben lover to form negative opinions on him.

Although calling him a psychopath / narc is out of line because I don't find him to be like that. His attitude was magnified by him being in the spotlight too much and writers not having a good balance in writing situations.

Ben being the main character of the show is at risk of becoming hated or less appreciated just because he's the font runner of the show.

Admit it, side characters tend to get more love most times than the main agonist of shows.

I've been watching videos on YouTube on this topic as to why this happens , and what I've come up with is that writers of shows tend to focus too much on main character. Things seem to go their way most times and this tends to get on peoples nerves, consciously or subconsciously because it's not exactly realistic.

Having shows where everything focuses on one person most times tend to backfire.

I don't mind Ben having a big head, I dont mind him making jokes and being so casual.

It's his defense mechanism to protect himself from drowning into the struggles and pressures of being a hero. But always having him be that way isn't good.

The writers should've executed it properly.

I'm not going to stop anyone from replying to this because everyone has different opinions and we all have the freedom to express them.

Although I believe I've made my point and I've made sure to keep in mind all the arguments about why bashing Ben is wrong when he's not a bad guy while typing this out.

I don't think I've directed any major hate towards him , its mostly towards the writers for making the situations like that,but if you think I have you can reply to it.

Tw: Talk About Side Hate, Fandom Negativity, Mild Negativity To The Sides!

P.s this is just my opinion respect it

Ok can't believe I have to make a third one but it's been brought to my attention there are a lot of character hate pages here on Tumblr and yes I class unsympathetic pages as hate pages as it basically is implying that you think that the character is canonically unsympathetic. Here in the Sander Sides Fandom, we are all about passion and love.

It's ok to hate or dislike a certain character but have you no shame, Thomas is on Tumblr and other social medias. To see people actively make a dedicated page to how much they hate that character from sander sides that Thomas created would crush him.

You call yourself a fan yet you viciously attack the characters that Thomas created, the unsympathetic sides must be hard enough for Thomas to avoid but seeing these hate pages would just upset him, he's put so much hard work into developing these characters and he still is doing. Hate pages are not truly a part of this fandom. If you were really part of this fandom you wouldn't be dissing the hard effort Thomas has put into developing these characters. If you want to be a true fander stop hating on Thomas's creations and maybe make a support page for your favourite character?

Criticism posts are fine as long as you don't tag them as unsympathetic. However, hate pages is a big no-no. You don't support Thomas you want to actively hate on the characters that Thomas wanted to use to inspire love not vicious aggressive hate. I've now had a look at all character hate pages apart from Remus and they are all disgusting.

Roman- Ok the Roman pages make me wanna puke not only do people encourage it and ask someone to make one but they actively bash on Romans character calling him a bully. Also, one page compared their own personal experience to Roman at laughing at his name. Do not relate that to real life, Thomas had no intention to make it like that. When Roman insults someone it's because he's lashing out. The Roman hate pages bash Roman as unsympathetic when he's not. Hmm ooo, wait yeah he's getting to the end of his arc this season. So your gonna bash Roman and ignore the fact that Thomas has been furiously working to develop his character. Sure Roman was wrong to laugh but he will feel guilty. These hate pages take part in the moral that Roman isn't allowed to have flaws.

Remus is so lucky I couldn't find a hate page.

Patton- How the heck does Patton have so many hate pages im sorry do you have a problem with a character who just wants to make everyone feel included. Yes, how he treats Logan and Roman is unfair but some hate pages wishing Patton didn't exist, wishing Patton is miserable is not ok at all. Patton is supposed to recognize innocence, are you saying Patton isn't allowed to flaws. He's morality folks hate to break it to you but he represents how we are all still learning what's right and wrong throughout or life. Why is there so much Patton hate, he's supposed to represent breaking away from the black and white views of religion. Like Roman he's being developed by Thomas, Thomas worked so hard to give Patton development in the redux and your gonna trash on it. Yes Patton was wrong in the original page but he will learn eventually.

Virgil- Now Virgil isn't my favourite but im not gonna trash on him just because he has flaws. Thomas has worked really hard to develop Virgil and is still developing. Like the other pages, the Virgil haters make some active good points but fail to see how Virgils main arc is over but he's actually getting Romans mini-arc. Yes, the days we're you all hated on Roman pre accepting anxiety. The two characters are swapping arcs, Virgil is going to learn to be nicer and accept that he isn't the only dark side that deserves acceptance. Virgil was lying in the puzzle song, he's still lost but will find his way. Virgil will get better Thomas has developed him so much and haters he will develop. Like the Roman haters, you need patience.

Logan- Pft seriously people the hate pages for Logan literally call him an emotionless robot. That is not ok like the other haters you're ignoring the why on why that certain character acts that way. Logan probably feels threatened by Roman because he didn't get the career choice he wanted for Thomas. Logan absolutely cares, he tries to help Thomas in his own unique way. Again you suggest Logan isn't allowed to have flaws. Logan is a hypocrite he represses how he fails because the others interrupted and insulted him unintentionally. He thinks being emotionless will help him not be hurt when Thomas doesn't ask for help from him. Like Roman, he's not expressing himself in a healthy which comes out in a way that can unintentionally hurt the others. Logan is at the beginning of his arc and Thomas has so much planned for Logan so patience and try to think about the time's Logan has tried to help.

Janus- Now to all those Janus hate pages I understand im mad that he clapped back and failed to understand why Roman was acting that way but I know something you don't, Janus is developing. People we hardly know Janus it's way too soon to judge him or his actions do not babify him like he has no flaws. And do not actively bash him for having flaws. Thomas has so much plans to help us get to know Janus as a character. Yea the 180 was sudden but soon we will understand Janus. Stop presuming you know Janus when you don't the character has only had the spotlight for three episodes. Patience and remember that both Janus and Roman were wrong.

In conclusion, stop spreading hate in this fandom but if you don't want to stop the hate turn it into negativity pages so Thomas knows. I shouldn't interact with these people they don't like the characters im developing.

hey so this is gonna be a long-ish one. ive decided its been far too long since i did a session, and we did so many i can often forget what happened. i started in july and im pretty sure its been more than half a year now since this whole blog happened. and in that time, we’ve gone through 88 sessions and i want to know if i remember the relevant plot points and what we got up to in the last few sessions. a refresh/reminder if you would.

so i hereby commence my own little recap of act 5 because yeah no, its too much to do a recap of everything and i have andrew for that after every few acts. but i wanna refresh my mind on act 5 for now. so here we go.

1. alternia.. fucked up place. but its a place the trolls live on so what are we gonna do about it? overthrow the government? seems about right, lets do that with the next troll that gets introduced and if its not kanaya idk what andrew is doing by not having introduced the best troll yet. why the long wait? it was the second introduced? i honestly expected it to go in order when i first read act 5, because first we had karkat talk to jade which was the first new piece dialogue in the comic besides the main kids, but then we had kanaya with rose, which was followed by tavros, then terezi (iirc). so id assume we were following that order but nope karkat got fully introduced, then this random fucking juggalo called gamzee made its way into the comic. imagine my surprise.

2. theres been terminology throughout act 5, that i do not fucking know and will not remember and probably never will. like tf is a perigee again? i made a doc somewhere ill probably find it.

3. karkat’s introduction... short but very sweet. and by sweet i mean we got to know the depths of the angry edge lord. and by depths i mean karkat got angry at gamzee for typing in a way that he didnt like so he yapped like a chihuahua. nah, but seriously, i do like karkat tho, hes growing on me but only bc hes a bitch baby and his whole personality makes me want to mock him so thats the reason im not that annoyed and think hes funny, and the most harmless troll. even more so than tavros. and thats saying something. 7.5/10 bc im generous.

4. then gamzee... the high juggalo troll who has the worst typing quirk imo, i cannot for the life of me read it. but hes chill, i actually really like gamzee. hes funny and the least problematic as of right now. 8.5/10.

5. terezi’s introduction next i think. she likes playing as a lawyer with her stuffed dragons, ie by roleplay, shes blind, can see through licking, and she likes eating chalk, maybe its even nutritious. shes good. 9/10. 

6. uhh in the process of these intros, there are teams being made? karkat joins gamzee and terezi in, i THINK, the red team?? bc terezi likes red?? could be wrong, i dont remember the teams except that its red/blue to represent sollux’s duality in those colors. terezi then tries recruiting AC but AC is like lol sorry i have to ask this friend of mine who has authority over me for some goddamn reason and terezi goes yuck tf i hate that guy................... yeah thats all we have on the teams. pretty sure sollux had smth to do with karkat about the making of the leaders, and they did the “i hate me” and the “no i hate me more than u hate u” or whatever the fuck that was. they got embarrassed afterwards and deleted their messages. im pretty sure they have no messages because everything ends up being mutually deleted so their logs are actually empty. ngl, kinda enjoyed their convos, made me appreciate their characters. i hope we get more because its good content. i also dont know what order this whole thing is in, who contacted who first? couldnt tell you. ill remember later on. and since im basing this off from memory alone, gotta deal with what i remember. uhhhh so yeah. we havent met all characters yet so the teams have not been officially decided but we got the bases, which is that.

7. god i found it, and the only thing im looking at right now is the terminology list i made and what the fuck?? what the fuck?? you miss a few weeks and suddenly the word nubslurping comes up and you forget what the fuck youre reading.

8. im PRETTY SURE aradia is seen after that whole team fiasco?? or its sollux... maybe. wait. its sollux, right. i just knew someone gets introduced mid way through is all. actually, someone gets introduced after every 20 pages. i have no idea. but ik aradia and sollux go hand in hand.

9. oh shit. OH SHIT! RIGHT! I REMEMBER! so this occurs in the latest session i did, and not the beginning of act 5, but AG and aradia team up, right?? and sollux fucking gets manipulated by them and ??? idk??? they make him find the game, reprogram it and then make him believe its going to end the world (which in hindsight is true, but anyways) so he refuses to play it which was AG’s plan all along so she steps up and becomes leader in his place. but aradia says sollux will still play the game no matter what, but she never went through with the plan for AG but it was apart of a prophecy? that sollux wouldnt be the leader at all? that he’d still play? but it had to go according to plan so it could succeed??? we just dont know why yet. anyways, point being, she still cares for sollux since she did it for him rather than for AG. and thats what i recall. god tf i forgot about that whole drama until writing down “sollux and aradia go hand in hand” which gave me violent flashbacks to the memory.

10. oh and id give aradia 9/10 and sollux 7/10. i do like sollux but if i put him higher than karkat, id get crucified. so im keeping them around the same.

11. man i really like sollux and aradia tho, i may have put him at 7, but i really like their dynamic and i really hope they make up and aradia explains herself about AG. because from one side it looks shitty. and while sollux is rude and never makes up his mind, he apologized to aradia after going off, and that was the only time ive seen him be sincere, so im pretty sure he cares for her to some extent. and i think its somewhat mutual? considering the whole “did it for him” thing. man, i see potential because i actually like both their characters. theyre well written. may not have the best personalities, but i appreciate well written characters and homestuck has the best ones ive seen in a while.

12. oh shit, hell yeah, the more i write, the more im connecting the dots and remembering. however, the more i write, the more i want to just make an analogy post but thats not for now. jesus christ its not all about analogies, mack, this is a recap. but.. how does andrew do it? to not go off track??? hard. telling ya.

AG appeared. shes a petty bully. idk what to say about her. we didnt get that much, except that she hates tavros but is okay with aradia. she also looks like a bottle opener. actually, i think she teamed with aradia to gain leadership rather than to “be friends”. and while that is similar to how karkat did it, meaning the gain, the motivation and how they earned it is entirely different. kinda seeing a trend tho. the leaders of the red/blue teams are both characters who wanted the role, but never had it to begin with. only to win their way into the position. but rather than ask non-stop like karkat did, AG manipulated others so she could be successful. not too sure if she also used aradia for that, or is actually motivated to become friends since they were “past enemies” and she needed a rebound. pretty sure its somewhat both. while AG did mostly use aradia to speak with sollux, what she doesnt know is that aradia is a bad bitch who never even thought about AG and only followed through with the plan bc she had a plan of her own. i guess we’ll look into that later. i lowkey want to know their history.

Hi hate anon, we are aware that Thomas isn’t autistic. This is an au blog, as in alternate universe. Thomas has stated time and time again he supports autistic people, I see no harm in two people relating to some character traits that they interpret as autistic traits. I see no harm in two people wanting to create a story and a universe themed around the idea: what if our favorite characters were like us? One of the reasons I indulge so heavily in fan made content is because there is a sort of diversity that people will put into the characters that you won’t see anywhere else. Sure, these two characters aren’t in a relationship but what if they were? Sure this character isn’t lgbt, but what if they were? We created this blog because we were like Sure, these characters aren’t autistic, but what if they were? As for being autistic there’s nothing wrong with it. I’ve been bullied by peers and adults my whole life for my neurodiverse traits I’ve now learned to love, and that took me forever. They’re a part of me I’m proud of and never want to let go of. They shaped me into who I am today. Maybe there is something wrong with me but it sure isn’t my autism. As for you anon, I hope that you can change your stance one day on autism. I hope you can open your heart and learn to love those who are mentally built differently. An Essay on Communities Like Writeblr.

It’s worthwhile (and imo, necessary) for up and coming writers to make some kind of social platform in which they can connect with other writers and build their writing skills. 

There’s no reason this needs to be done through tumblr. 

Tumblr is an easy place to make these kinds of connects, because it allows anyone to talk to anyone else through many different methods. Unfortunately, that also means anyone can criticize, bully, or gossip in a great number of (usually public, even anonymous) ways. All other platforms (like twitter, facebook, wordpress, blogger, instagram, etc) have their pros and cons for connecting with other writers too, and I’ve heard people have great success on all of them, as well as much disappointment. You have to decide what you think the best fit for you is.

There’s also no reason that you can’t use tumblr to connect with other writers and still keep yourself away from the ‘writeblr community’ aspect of it.

I’ve been on tumblr with character and writing driven blogs of all kinds for almost its entire lifespan, and there’s a cycle I’ve seen happen over and over again within these online communities, one which looks very nice from some angles and for some people, but has never been healthy for me personally (and often for the community as a whole.) 

The cycle looks something like this:

A group of people with similar hobbies or likes find each other and they become a community. (Or one person finds an already connected circle and joins the community.)

The community begins to grow. Around this time a few popular heads arise. People decide to try and make lists of the community members. They create norms and models for how the community should be and act. Everyone should be friendly and supportive, should have a page for their wips, should use one of a dozen specific formats for their url, should tag their posts with specific tags, should engage in community tag games, should post about certain things etc.

The community continues to grow and the community heads fight to hold their own personal norms within the community, often subconsciously. Someone says writeblr is a place for positivity and then people start attacking anyone they feel isn’t positive enough. A bunch of writbeblrs produce the same kind of introduction post and then someone gets mad if anyone suggests that isn’t the best way to introduce yourself. Some writeblrs get overwhelmed by certain things that are highly integrated into the community and tension forms with the people who love those aspects simple because it’s hard to keep track of who wants to participate in what. A few prominent writeblrs start mass tagging everyone on their ‘wip list’ so other writeblrs who had no interest in that feel like they need to do it in order to maintain the same level of attention and interaction as their friends. Certain types of posts act as a sort of popularity currency, and it becomes better for someone to create poor or inaccurate versions of those posts then to post what they genuinely want to talk about.

The closer someone gets to the heart of the community, the more pressure they’re put under to act as much like the more popular norms as possible, and the more competition breaks out to be the best within those norms. People who can thrive within the community norms do very well. People who either can’t or don’t wish to be in competition any longer either break out or slide into mentally and emotionally unhealthy patterns to continue fitting in. Occasionally the community breaks into groups or exists in a permanent state of ‘civil war’.

In a cycle like this, those existing in micro-circles at the edges of the community often don’t experience the same pressures (or see the same drama) that’s present at the community’s center, especially if they aren’t following the heads of the community. The bigger the community, the worse the toxic center becomes, but there’s also a higher chance that a wide array of safe and non-toxic micro-communities will form.

Now, it wouldn’t be right for me to talk about this without acknowledging my own part in it. I’ve tried to keep as much ‘drama’ off my main blog, and to not push my personal opinions of what should be the writing community norm on people, but I’m still a vocal believer in having wip pages and not giving unsolicited negative critique, and I’ve answered more in-depth asks about the right way to run a writeblr than I would’ve liked to. I’m not some innocent bystander in this. 

But I’m also very tired and a bit older than a lot of writeblrs. I don’t have any desire to feel the strain of acting under the norms I’ve contributed to setting up and I don’t want to continue to contribute to them in ways that might cause other people strain down the road. I came here to talk about the things I’ve been learning in my writing and conduct my blog in a way I enjoy.

I don’t want to say what a writeblr should be. I don’t want to hear anyone else say or imply that a writeblr should act in a certain way either. I want to go back to being a writer who could just write and a blogger who could just blog, and not give a shit what some online community thinks about it. 

So that’s what I’m doing: I’m declaring publicly that I don’t give a shit anymore. 

Whatever you choose and how you attempt to conduct that choice is a personal decision. There are many, many good people existing within the writeblr community, and there’s no reason not to engage with them. But it’s also worth acknowledging the cycle going on behind the scenes, because it will continue eating people alive.

i said in the blacklist chat about a month ago “is circumcision common in latinos” for a thing i was writing which was not only something i couldve googled (which i ended up doing) but also incredibly poor phrasing and i apologized

i was sometimes too open about sexual topics in the nsfw chat (which was 16+) because i was under the impression everyone was okay with it because no one ever really told me it was tmi (sometimes i put stuff in general that i didnt consider nsfw but other people considered nsfw but most of those times i deleted whatever it was i said/sent) (also for the record i had a general rule against sending irl porn in the nsfw chat and so i never did that aside from like the first few months of the servers existence where i was still trying to figure out how to go about having a server at all)

there was a “jewish” role in the server that some jewish people in the server asked for but apparently some people were uncomfortable with the fact that there was a jewish role but not roles for other ethnicities or minorities. people communicated this to me and i was going to make other roles but hadnt gotten around to it yet when everything went down bc spoons

i wasnt open enough about the reasons why i banned people (which only happened a couple times) so people assumed i was only banning them because they disagreed with me, which wasnt true

i have a habit of publicly (i.e. on the blog) responding to criticism with passive aggression or jokes, something im aware of and actively working on, and its something i dont do in private conversation because i dont think its productive, in fact one of my rules in the server was not to respond to disagreements or arguments or discourse with reaction gifs or emotes or memes or stuff like that. 

and this is the biggest incident, tw for genital mutilation and nsfw discussion, and its a long one so bear with me:

basically in december i mentioned in the nsfw chat that i happened to come across a video of a woman essentially sewing her vagina shut. i did not send the video and did not describe it in graphic detail. i shouldnt have brought it up at all, but this was another case of me thinking something wasnt that bad but it upset a few other people. because of the nature of the video the most i will say about it is that it was not a permanent thing, it was done with sterile medical-grade stuff, and it was a masochism thing rather than like actually permanently mutilating the vagina. i was browsing around the internet going down various rabbit holes out of boredom and i came across this video, i did not search for this kind of thing, i just watched it out of curiosity.

anyways, some people were upset by it, i apologized for mentioning it and that was kind of that. but then the next day i received an anonymous ask calling me a freak whos into genital mutilation so i copied the ask in the blacklist chat (tagging it any time i mentioned the video in any level of detail) and basically what then happened that night was that i received multiple anons over the course of a couple hours calling me a freak and greatly exaggerating what happened. i would post the ask in the blacklist chat, me and a couple other people would talk about what was said, and then i would get another anon or two about it.

from the start i did not take the anons seriously because like, youre fucking liveblogging a conversation YOURE IN in my inbox, and i stated multiple times that if they wanted to have a serious conversation about it they could dm me or bring it up in the server because i was not going to entertain this back and forth bullshit.

i called the anon a clown and they sent clown emojis in response, which is when it kind of started getting out of control. me and a lot of other people in the server were making fun of the anon and joking about it calling them “clown anon” and stuff. and then the anon sent an ask containing the sentence “do u really want to be on the team of the guy who watches pussy sewing for fun!” (directed at everyone else in the server joking with me) and i thought the phrase “pussy sewing” was fucking HILARIOUS so everyone started making pussy sewing jokes and calling the anon clussy anon and saying shit like “pussy sewing sunday” (bc this was happening on a sunday night) and “pussy sewing club” and shit like that.

i said multiple times during this that i was not making fun of the video or the subject matter i was making fun of the anon(s) and their dramatic bullshit, but some people didnt believe me ig. at the time i was maintaining the opinion that as long as its all sterile and there is no permanent damage then stuff like that is fine and its none of my business what people do to their own bodies, which i still kind of agree with? im not super sure.

but anyway a few people thought i was a shitty person because of this, one of these people left and the other two said they were going to leave so i banned them, one person was very upset by the subject matter and wanted to take a break from the server, i told them sorry about the situation and to be safe. when one of my mods came online and saw what happened she was very upset about the fact that people had left and i didnt really listen to what she was saying (something ive apologized for since then) but said that for the sake of the person taking a break this was to never be brought up again. i agreed and asked my other mod to delete the conversation because i was low on spoons at the time, they said sure and deleted it for me (and during on the incident on friday this person told everyone that i “made them” delete the messages and that they were too afraid to say no to me and it was disgusting) and that was the last time the situation was brought up until this weekend.

i had actually learned from the situation, both about the things i bring up and also the content i look at even out of boredom or curiosity, and the ethics of that, and i have since then not looked at anything like that online. the people in my server were not aware of this because i was told to never bring it up again, so i didnt, and no one brought it up to me privately so i assumed people werent upset about it anymore. so they assumed i didnt care or i was still looking at shit like that and just wasnt talking about it. i had absolutely no idea people were still harboring bad feelings about this incident and if i did i wouldve apologized again and told them about how i had learned from the situation. i explained all of this on saturday and nobody seemed to care.

multiple times during the situation this weekend i said that their criticisms are valid and tried to explain myself and apologize and own up to what i did, but apparently because im mad about them bullying me and getting people to raid the server im not actually sorry?? according to them.

which is more of them just trying to gaslight me and manipulate me into thinking this is all my fault and i deserved it instead of that event being fucking bullshit.

one person said “your criticisms are valid but the way you brought them up isnt” or something like that in quotation marks in an attempt to mock me but like,,, yeah thats exactly what im saying lmao.

so yeah thats basically it? those are the main things. sorry this got so long.

i didnt want to say this before but man.. Danny kind of.. sucks, at least in the heart of canon. i get that he's young and learns "Those Valuable Lessons" and but people dont acknowledge most of this douchebag's shitty antics cause he's a cute boy or whatever. although Danny has a very excellent premise for a character, he is sincere sometimes, but overall its not executed well. he falls into too many awful high school tropes

i guess im glad people are making use of his character premise by reading too closely than the show intended, or by making content of their own interpretations. but we cant ignore that he is quite a goddamned piece of hell shit who i fucking hate in the real show sometimes. i feel there’s just too much emphasis on a character and show that wasn’t well crafted and well managed to begin with. its kinda sad when all the hate is somehow directed towards other characters like Sam.

it feels like most people are praising him and the overall show for what they imagine it to be instead of what it actually is. srsly this awful goddamned fuckboy sells stuff garage lab items he aint supposed to just to buy some fucking clothes??? uses ghost powers to spy girls in their locker room?? he fuckin destroys ghost writer’s writing and then doesnt feel sorry about it just cause it’s christmas-related and he’s so pissy about it.

Normally, I delete all character hate on sight, because the point of my blog is to focus on the show’s strengths and how the weaknesses could’ve been done better. I get critical sometimes, but I like focusing on a characters’ strengths rather than their poor writing and garbage like that.

This was so long, detailed, and harsh that it’s really hard to ignore. Maybe I should. Stick to my guns and not let some anonymous rant change how I work. You came to me, though, so if you want to debate this, then alright. I’ll bite.

First off, who in the fandom is portraying Danny as a kid Jesus? Maybe it’s just the circles I’m familiar with, but one of the most reblogged posts that pops up in my notifications is one with a ton of additions arguing why Danny totally deserves to suffer. The majority of the fandom loves tormenting this kid. Even those that do say he needs to be protected never claim he has no flaws. Far from it. They just acknowledge he has it hard for a kid and he deserves a break sometimes.

Second, have you ever…met a 14 year old? As someone who spent most of his career life working with kids and who is the oldest of 5 (with one brother who’s turning 14 this November), lemme tell you that the main trio are saints for their age.

People talk about the terrible twos, but 14 year olds are so much worse. I’m not slamming them, because it makes sense. They’re in a tough transition period between childhood and adulthood. Adults tell them to act more mature, but refuse to acknowledge their voices in serious situations. Middle school and high school are cutthroat places, and one mistake can ruin the entirety of the four-six years you spend there. They’re pressured to get good grades or they’ll fail, they have to be part of the cool crowd or they’ll fail, and people are more likely to blame them for whatever goes wrong in their lives than anything that goes on around them.

Doesn’t change the fact that they can be little demons sometimes. With all the hormones and drama, young teenagers can be really emotional and make problems bigger than they seem. They can be harsh and judgmental, because that’s the environment they’re being exposed to. They need guidance, but they don’t want it. They argue with adults and to some, it seems like they want to make their own lives miserable. They can be tough to work with unless you’re willing to take them as seriously as they take themselves, and most people don’t want to bother.

There are shitty things Danny does in canon, but that’s true for literally every fourteen year old. And heck, are you telling me you didn’t do some ridiculously stupid stuff at that age? I actually stole money from my folks to buy something I wanted. My group of friends frequently set stuff on fire in their backyards. And fuck, nobody can prove Danny was spying on girls in the locker room. While I think the scene is shit and refuse to accept it as canon, all we see is Danny coming out of the locker room. He could’ve been just looking to see what it was like in there. Nothing says there were actually girls in there. But I’m so sick of talking about that shit scene, so I’m gonna leave it at that.

Danny has flaws. He can be selfish and petty and inconsiderate. But really? You wanna beat him up for that?

Are you forgetting that he canonically already does get beaten up every single episode? Whether it’s by ghosts, bullies, his own goddam parents, or whatever, getting beat up is something he’s familiar with.

The reason some fans cut him some slack is because, hey, yeah. He is a kid, and you know what? He’s entitled to be a dick sometimes. He loses sleep every night, almost dies on a daily basis, has his dreams ripped away from him often, and is picked on at school. Despite all of that, he still fights ghosts to keep his town safe, and he’s under no obligation to do that. He saves lives, even when people hate him for it. He puts himself in danger, even for those who are cruel to him. He tries to use his powers for the right reason more often than not, and he’ll take the high road against his bully because he feels like he shouldn’t stoop to his level.

We acknowledge that canon can be shit. We acknowledge that sometimes, Danny’s writing makes him out to be a dick. At the “heart of canon,” though, as you so eloquently put it, he’s the kid who risked his life for a little girl he barely knew that nobody else would miss. He’s the one who saves the lives of his own bully, the teacher who used to be so hard on him, and the parents he fully believes would cut him open if they knew what he was. He’s the one who could so easily be Vlad, but instead he tries his best to be a hero.

You’re under no obligation to like him, and you don’t have to ignore the shitty parts of canon like some of us do. I do it just because I enjoy thinking about what the show could’ve been, not what it was. You don’t have to do that, though.

But really, are you going to march into your nearest high school and beat the shit out of the first kid you see messing up? Seriously? You honestly think that the mistakes Danny makes outweigh the good he’s constantly trying to do enough that he deserves that? Even when he already gets beat up in every single episode already?

Well, fine. That’s your pessimistic opinion. It’s not fact, though. How many cartoons do you watch? You gonna beat up Timmy Turner and Jimmy Neutron, too? They can be right assholes. What about Jake Long? He’s a shallow, obnoxious, irresponsible kid a lot of the time. Sure, he’s just 13, but why should we show mercy to kids who mess up? Serena/Usagi from Sailor Moon? Yeah, let’s ignore all the people defending her and just focus on the fact that the show makes her a dumb kid who doesn’t have enough backbone to immediately become the savior of the galaxy. Come to think of it, where’s your rant about Dash Baxter? Or is he not popular enough for you to rag on?

Perfect characters aren’t the ones who are the most upstanding. They’re the ones who are realistic and flawed. So Danny sells his parents stuff. So he sneaked into the girls’ locker room. So he took out his anger on an innocent person.

I’m not saying any of those things weren’t wrong, what I’m saying is that kids make fucking mistakes. And sometimes, they’re huge ones. Sometimes, kids get curious and break into a house. Sometimes they get hungry at the store and shoplift. Sometimes they lie and cheat and make fun of each other. Sometimes they can be perverted little leaches.

So fucking what? We’ve all been there. We all need to learn and grow.

And seriously, if you’re going to be one of those people who gives Sam a break, don’t turn around and start criticizing Danny for the same shitty writing he sometimes gets. That hypocrisy is exactly why I so adamantly defend Sam.

I don’t know what you wanted to accomplish with these asks. Maybe you just wanted to vent. Maybe you were looking to stir up drama. Maybe you don’t know what you wanted and you just sent these asks randomly without any real reason.

Regardless of what you think, I’m still gonna enjoy my fucking fictional character, even if I don’t always agree with how he’s written. I relate to him, his struggles, and even his mistakes. You have fun ripping on characters people like because you don’t think they should be allowed to make mistakes, but let the rest of us have our fun, too. You’re not helping anyone with this, so maybe just fuck off, m’kay?

Being stupidly nice is kind of my thing, but I’m tired of putting up with this self righteous crap. Let characters fuck up. Let fans rewrite things they don’t like. Let people enjoy their fucking cartoon, because they aren’t hurting anyone. I’ve yet to find a single phan who considers the DP cartoon to be completely canon anyway. They enjoy it for the fan content or the few really spot on episodes. We’re already aware that there’s shitty stuff in there, and we don’t need you to tell us.

If I ever get any asks like this that rip on characters for stupid, petty reasons again, I’m deleting them on sight. That was my initial plan anyway, but I really needed to say my piece here.

OH MY GOSH? im really flattered that you found them interesting, and im more flattered that you actually want to hear my thoughts on such a delicate subject. youre not being rude or anything!!

i very well cant give proper opinions on a subject without laying down the facts first, though, and surprisingly, other than passing mentions and links to an article or two, no one really talked about just how awful the system is in japan, and in turn how it affected goro, so let me talk about the system while adding in my own commentary

What’s it like to be raised in a Japanese orphanage?

many kids that wind up in orphanages were neglected by their parents or suffered some kind of abuse from their parents. its also not uncommon for parents to leave their kids there simply because theyre too overwhelmed by the job

but even then, some (read: a whole fucking lot) of these parents refuse to let their children be adopted bc of a social stigma involving it. they cant support/cant take care/dont give a fuck for their children but theyre too scared of the shame that comes from getting their kids adopted to let them live in a family that can care for and love them. think about that for a minute.

these kids are sometimes called throw away children by society. goro is a throw away child, you can say.

the kids tend to form a hierarchical society where the oldest or the biggest kid orders all the other kids around. refuse to listen to them, and you get beat up. abuse and bullying is rampant because of this

a child leaves their orphanage at around 15 to 18. once they leave, any kind of support from the government is cut off. gone. nada. youre on your goddamn own. 

japan is a country thats held together by connections. you get a job if you have a good network to back up your credibility. basically, without any kind of networks, youre already ruined before you even got outside of that goddamn orphanage you live in

to add: its not uncommon to hear about orphans released from orphanages becoming homeless or unemployed, and without a support network, more often than not they also suffer from mental illnesses such as depression. or theyre also manipulated into committing murder. you know.

im gonna throw my assumption out here that goro most likely was released from whatever orphanage he was in when he was 15. not too long after, he had awaken to his persona, and thats when he approached shido. probably. if that were the case, then it would align with when the mental shutdown cases started: two years before the main game. goro died at 17 years old.

with these facts, we can assume that HE WAS LITERALLY A HOMELESS KID WHEN HE WENT TO SHIDO, AND HE WAS BARELY LEGAL WHEN HE DIED, YOU FUCKING MONKEYS

Japan: Children in Institutions Denied Family Life

basically, the foster care system and the alternative care system (aka orphanages) in japan are a fucking trainwreck, but thats the whole point of this post, so its not that surprising.

orphanages are just really fucking bad, theres not enough space, bad facilities, abuses from both staff and fellow children, that kind of shit

its also mentioned here how those who leave the orphanages have no support to help them ease back into society and again brings up the importance of having connections in japan

adoption is rare. by 2011, only 303 kids (out of like, roughly, 30,000) were formally adopted out of the alternative care system. more on Why later

childrens’ best interests are often set aside in favour of letting the parents or family, who put them there in the first place, decide what happens to the kid, which basically means if the parents/family of the kid doesnt want the kid to get adopted, then no, the kid wont be adopted.

basically, the system favours the stupid adults’ opinions over the kids’ wellbeing. as quoted from one of the careworkers mentioned in the article, “In Japan, the interest of the parents is seen as more important than the interests of the child.”

“The Convention on the Rights of the Child states that for the full development of a child’s personality, they ‘should grow up in a family environment, in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding.’” 

hey so guess which persona 5 character never grew up in a family and ended up screwed up in the personality department and got so lost and confused with what he really wanted so he desperately clung to the flimsy fame he had and the idea of revenge and fake praises from a certain shido masayoshi? yeah i thought so

japan likes to cram all these kids into orphanages that, even though there are caretakers who do want to take very good care of these sad kids, there isnt enough staff to deal with them, and thats when what looks like neglect from the staffs part arises

the article lists testimonies from children and adults who are and were from these institutions. one of them, a one sentence testimony, stood out to me in particular: “I don’t have any dreams for the future.” it sounded so jaded and tired to me, and it makes me think of the last time we saw goro in the game. that really tired smile really hit it home for me. goro had goals, but what about dreams?

lets speak in hypotheticals: if goro managed to inflict his revenge on shido, and he won, what comes after? what will he do? he spoke in the ship about being heralded as the hero who took down shido, sure, but do yalls really think, after everything, he actually plans to get out of that goddamn mess alive? goro made it his life mission to ruin shido. nothing matters but that, not even himself. after all is said and done, it doesnt seem very plausible for goro to keep on wanting to live. theres nothing to live for, after that

Witness: Lack of Support in Japanese Orphanages

“Masashi cared about his appearance – he wore fashionable [ … ] clothes and had styled his hair – but a sense of isolation clung to him.” that sounds familiar but maybe thats just me

studies show that children younger than 3 who grow up in orphanages have the risk of delayed mental, emotional, and even physical development because of the lack of bonds with a proper adult or family. orphanages are also a really poor environment for older children, who most likely already experienced abuse in the hands of their families or severe trauma after losing their parents. either way, orphanages are just a really bad idea for children

the first two articles have mentioned this, and now this article mentions this again: kids who grow up in orphanages are often poorly equipped for the real world because of the lack of support after their release, and yeah yall know how they end up homeless and jobless bc of it

as continuation, sometimes, education for these kids are so poor that they get out of the system barely able to read or solve simple math problems. 

children get subsidies now (bc back then they didnt wtf). its around 55,000 yen, or 550 usd. they cant even get a drivers license with it, which also happens to be really good extra points for when applying for a job. another opportunity lost for them

Adoption in Japan Part 1: Why are there so many kids in orphanages?

this article focuses more on why adoption is so rare in japan and also reinstates some things that have been mentioned earlier, namely, childrens’ well being getting set aside in favour of what shitty parents have to say

majority of kids in orphanages have living parents who retain legal custody but are not raising them. because of this, they are not allowed to be adopted, even if the parents dont come back for them

for some reason, japan is really insistent on giving the parents full control on their kids life even though they already abandoned them. this idea is so strictly followed that even a baby found in trash cans or some shit are usually ruled by court as not allowed to be adopted in case the biological parents come looking for them. i know. its full of bullshit.

with that and the stigma of a family letting their kid adopted, it makes me think that maybe its why goro ended up stuck in orphanages and never lasted in foster homes. because despite being a good kid (which i actually think he was), he was never adopted bc his mothers family refused to let him be adopted. its really messed up

apparently, people think orphanages are “the right place for nobody’s children to be raised.” add in the “throwaway children” nickname from one of the earlier articles, i get where goros coming from with his whole “unwanted, cursed child” mentality, and why hes so desperate for anyones attention. spend your entire childhood having the idea that youre a throwaway child, that youre a nobody’s child, that your mother killed herself because youre unwanted planted in your vulnerable mind, and then taste praise for the first time despite it coming from the one person you want to ruin the most, no wonder goro was intoxicated by it.

while there are orphanages with staffs that try their best, sexual and physical abuse are still prevalent, mostly in private orphanages. though they are supposedly monitored by the government, those sent to inspect these private orphanages have little to no training for the job. most of the time, the inspector only comes for tea, then they fucking leave, and the abuses and badly maintained facilities continue to prevail

the article brings up again how children are badly prepared for the real world and are doomed to a life of hardship when they leave. it never stops

in japan, only middle school is compulsory, but most jobs require that you should be at least a high school graduate. only 10% (or lower) of kids from orphanages get to attend high school, because 1) getting into high school is like a super big deal and hard, maybe like getting into college, and normally, middle schoolers attend cram schools to prepare for their entrance tests, 2) these orphans cannot afford cram schools, 3) the government refuses to fund cram schools for these kids bc its also acknowledging that their public education fucking sucks and cant afford to get anyone into a high school

imagine goro burning his fucking eyebrows to be able to get into high school. although, truthfully, i wouldnt be surprised if shido had something to do with goro being able to get into high school, if we still go along with “goro approached shido at 15″ thing. but i stand with the whole “goro is actually smart and intelligent despite being a wack detective” thing bc lets be real, that shit he pulled in saes palace is fucking nuts. you cant deny the kids a genius in his own right

Adoption in Japan Part 2: Attitudes to Adoption

adult adoptions, the kind thats done by adults (duh) for convenience or inheritance etc etc, is a frequent thing in japan, but child adoption, the kind that we all are more familiar with, is apparently kind of a wack concept in japan. its entirely new to them. in fact they only legalised that shit in 1989

koseki likes to make everything complicated. its so fucking hard to describe, but its like a family tree of sorts, except when you (the mother) have a kid out of wedlock, youre not allowed to register your kid to your family tree for some fucking reason; you have to start your own family tree with just you and your kid. if you give up your kid for adoption and they got adopted, their name doesnt get removed from your family tree for some fucking reason, but the fact that they were adopted is noted in your family tree. and this starts the discrimination and stigma that comes from getting your kid adopted, and it makes parents who leave their child to orphanages unwilling to get their kids adopted. its also the source of stigma surrounding single mothers and children born out of wedlock. (hey guys guess whos both a kid born out of wedlock AND an orphan?????) NOTE: this is how i understand the concept of koseki so far, and i may not be 100% right bc that shit confuses the fuck out of me. idk. japan why

so yall know how obsessed goro is with being perfect—perfect grades, perfect public image, perfect everything? as it turns out, theres this stupid idea in japan thats widely accepted that “everything from your taste in food to the language you speak is biologically pre-determined” now that makes a shit ton of sense, considering the kind of person shido is. that fucking asshole. holy fuck.

Japan’s Forgotten Children

it says here that about 4,000 children were formally adopted out of the system, as opposed to an earlier article that says 303. i dont know which one is true.

this entire paragraph:

“Last month, a Chukyo Television director who was documenting this problem, asked a high government official why Japan had such a system, as opposed to promoting adoption and foster care like other developed nations. The man, whom I respect for his honesty, basically said that after the war there were many children without parents. At that time, many orphanages were built. So, that became Japan’s system to this day. Let me translate that for you…There are many jobs involved in this system. Plus, we don’t like change.”

orphanages run by the government receive funding based on how much kids they have, so more kids = more money, and that basically is also one of the reasons why no ones making an effort to get these kids out of the system. the kids are their means of getting free fucking money.

the government isnt trying to remedy this problem bc it doesnt want change, at least according to this guy named yamanta tokuji. hes an ex-child welfare worker who wants change, to put it simply.

he also says that living in orphanages for years damages a childs well being and behaviour. some who end up in family environments can develop reactive attachment disorder in which they regress to behaving like a baby.

the government wont tackle the issue “because it doesn’t want to know the truth and thus be forced to change.” yamantas opinion again

look, before anything else, i dont condone what goros done. shits fucked up, kids killed a whole lotta ppl, and he didnt fucking hesitate to pull the damn trigger on akira, but since this is fiction, context is important. if youre one of those people who simply dismissed goros character and went “eh. hes fucking evil with daddy issues” im just….. :(, bc you fucking missed the entire point of his character. its important to note hes the only teenage antagonist in a game where the adults are the Bad Guys™. i dont remember where i read this, but i (sorta) quote: hes a warning of what couldve happened to the phantom thieves, without morgana, without the support system that they had, without the positive influences that made them decide to do what they did. even yusuke acknowledges this, once they come back from shidos palace after Hell™ happened (i would have put a link to a photo, but where the fuck do i even find a pic of it).

i think that people seem to misunderstand goros character simply because of really fucking bad writing atlus COME THE FUCK ON they forget that theyre playing a game based on japan, where culture and society are very different from theirs, and in turn they dont understand the context behind goros backstory and how japans society views orphans and illegitimate children can really fuck with a kid, and okay, just because youre either of the two doesnt mean youll resort to murder, but 1) this is a modern fantasy game, where cats can become buses and fake gods can force a lonely kid who happens to be a wild card into the depths of hell, come on, 2) goro wasnt even the one who came up with the murders, it was shido. he fucking bragged about it in his boss fight you fucking monkeys!!!! i forgot to mention this, but shido also threatens goro if he ever so much expresses doubt

its also because of bad writing. its mostly because of bad writing. god. goro deserves better than this

goro was a vulnerable kid with powers, and that made him a perfect puppet for shido. imagine if he had known about changing hearts sooner, because no one ever told him about it. imagine if he was able to bring his wild card ability to its full potential, and dont even get me started with the fact that he was a wild card user. this post about wild cards and goro really makes you think, but that isnt the point of this post, so

AN: I’m still not super happy with how this chapter worked out, however I know I have to post it eventually. I really struggle with Clarke’s behaviour in this episode. I just don’t understand how she can logically think she’s doing the right thing and then get angry at the people around her for her actions results. Anyhow that’s just my opinion and I hope it hasn’t effected this chapter to much.

“Murphy!” Octavia gasped “Murphy killed Wells?”

“It would appear that way” uncertainty coloured your voice though, evidence might be stacking up against Murphy but even so, rashly jumping to conclusions had never helped anyone in the past and you doubted that would be about to change.

“But that knife, it has his name on”

“O, they found me crouched over a body with blood on my hands and a weapon on the floor next to me. I was sentenced to float on evidence that seemed certain”

“That’s different” she insisted “Murphy’s a bastard Y/N. He enjoys punishing people, gets off on seeing them suffer. If he did this he deserves what they’ll do to him”

“If though O” taking her hand in your own you squeezed “If is a very big question when it comes to what they’ll do to him over this”

Octavia fell silent thinking about your words eventually though she shook her head.

“We have to show them this, the others. They have a right to know”

“I’m going to tell Clarke this evening. I gave Bellamy that long to figure out what to do”

“My brother knows?” Octavia was frowning, apparently she was still angry at him over what had happened with Atom. You’d never known Octavia to hold a grudge this long and it was starting to worry you that they hadn’t made up yet. You were trying to steer clear of the sibling’s arguments not wanting to get involved.

“No, you have to tell her now” opening your mouth to argue once more she slapped a hand over it to stop your words. “Tell her now Y/N or I tell everyone”

You raised your eyebrows at her. “Are you blackmailing me Octavia Blake?”

“I guess so” grinning she removed her hand “go together?”

“Sure”

Linking your fingers you went back towards camp beckoning Bellamy to follow as well as grabbing Finn and Clarke. You found a tent that had no one in and was used mainly for storage. Clarke and Finn looked confused and Bellamy simply resigned to what he knew was coming.

“Y/N what’s going on?” Clarke asked confusion on her face as she looked at both you and Octavia. “Has something happened?”

“In a manner of speaking” you took the knife out of your belt and placed it on the table in between you all. “This is the knife that killed Wells”

“Knife” Clarke reached forward taking the weapon, you could tell when both her and Finn found the ‘problem’ with the knife as she paled and anger settled in her eyes. Banging the knife back down on the table she glared around the room.

“So we have a murderer in camp”

“There’s more than one murderer in the camp” Bellamy defended arms crossed over his chest. “This isn’t news. We need to keep it quiet”

Clarke was however determined to react in exactly the way Bellamy had predicted earlier storming around the table towards the exit of the tent. Bellamy moved as well blocking her way.

“Get out of my way Bellamy”

“Griffin” trying to diffuse the situation you stepped up towards her. “Think about this, he may have a point…”

“You’re agreeing with him now?” her voice had gone high with indignation. “Since when?”

“Since he was the one making sense” you snapped “Clarke this camp is running on the fear people have of the grounders. If you take that away from them you’re putting us all in danger”

“The only person who is in danger from this coming out is him” she nodded her chin at Bellamy. “As long as people are afraid they work for him”

“Yeah. They do. But it’s good for all of us. Fear of the Grounders is building that wall. And besides, what are you gonna do… just walk out there and ask the killer to step forward? Then what, you gonna ‘float’ him princess?”

Clarke stopped defused for a moment by the stark reality of what outing Murphy would mean. Apparently though it wasn’t going to stop her completely.

“They have a right to know” pushing past Bellamy she left the tent, knife firmly gripped in her hand.

“Shit” cursing you followed her out along with Bellamy and Finn. This was going to go badly. Very badly.

“YOU SON OF A BITCH” Clarke had run up to Murphy pushing him backwards by his shoulders, glaring angrily at him.

“What’s your problem?”

“Recognise this?” Clarke held out the knife to him pointing unnecessarily at his name on the hilt. Murphy actually frowned looking confused as he reached out for the knife.

“It’s my knife. Where’d you find it?” He really did sound generally confused and you were getting a very horrible feeling in the bottom of your stomach, not helped by the growing crowd gathering around Clarke and Murphy. All of whom were starting to mutter under their breath about what was going on here.

“Bellamy” you whispered to him as he came up beside you. “This is bad”

“I know”

“It was right where you left it, in Well’s neck after you stabbed him”

“What!? The grounders killed Wells not me” Murphy’s eyes were darting around the camp as whispers about him started to intensify. People had heard the word killed and Wells and those whispers were starting to get dangerous.

“I know what you did and you’re going to pay for it”

“Really? Bellamy? You believe this crap?” he was starting to panic, and his panic was only going to increase people’s suspicion.

Bellamy had his arms crossed once more standing next to you as he kept silent. Probably the smartest move, whatever he said at this point wouldn’t help the situation, could in fact only make it worse. Clarke had started something here that would end only one way, you just hoped she realised what she’d done.

“You threatened to kill him. We all heard you. You hated Wells”

“Everyone hated Wells” Murphy spat out “Even you princess. His fucking father was the guy who had us all locked up”

Clarke was on a roll though spinning around to her audience who were now all gathered around her and Murphy, work forgotten as they listened with rapt attention to her words. She was giving them exactly the outlet they wanted against the man who had been bullying them for days.

“Is this the kind of society that we want? You say there should be no rules. Does that mean that we can kill each other without… without punishment?”

“I already told you. I didn’t kill anyone.”

“I say we float him.”

Yeah there it was, the beginning of the end. The group of delinquents were starting to turn into an angry mob. The one who’d shouted out to float him you recognised as one of the main victims of Murphy’s sadistic punishments. Being a bully though did not mean you got sentenced to death which was the only place this witch trail was going.

“Yeah!”

“Float the bastard”

“String him up”

Shouts rang around the camp as uncertainty finally slipped onto Clarke’s face. You felt yourself being pushed to the side as crowds of Kids surrounded Murphy. Clarke was shouting again but no one was listening, the time for words had passed and now the mob could scent blood.

The delinquent who had initially shouted out about floating him was the one leading the pack of boys who were attacking Murphy. Punching him repeatedly as he fell to the ground.

“That’s not what I was saying. Revenge isn’t justice” Clarke pleaded, running up to you and Bellamy. “Y/N do something, stop them”

“How Clarke?” your words were quiet and unemotional as you stared flatly at her. “Me against a whole mob, I’m good but not that good or are you planning on sentencing me to death as well?”

“What no, of course not” 

“Because asking me to try and stop this now, stop what you’ve started will only lead to me joining Murphy” 

The crowd were still screaming and dragging Murphy forwards towards a sturdy tree, rope had appeared out of nowhere and was being forced around his neck as he wriggled and screamed. Trying desperately to get free of the many hands attacking him.

“Bellamy you should do it”

You felt Bellamy tense up instantly beside you at the shout from the crowd. Murphy was now stood hands tied behind his back balancing only on a box as the delinquents bayed for his death.

“No! Bellamy you’re not a killer. Bellamy you can’t do this” Clarke begged.

You’d never wanted to punch another person so badly in your life. You’d both warned her what would happen if she continued with this, if she blindly ran in with her distorted view of the world. She hadn’t listened, of course she hadn’t listened and now Bellamy would be the one who would suffer because of it.

Bellamy however wasn’t looking at Clarke, he was staring down at you, pain and horror in his eyes. He was trapped and you both knew it, if he didn’t do this then the next person the mob turned on was him. Taking a breath you moved your head forwards a fraction, a tiny movement but it was enough to get him moving once more.

As Bellamy kicked out with his foot dislodging the box you heard Clarke start to gasp hysterically from beside you. “How could he? How?”

“Don’t you dare Griffin” turning on her you clenched your fists tightly, nails digging into the soft palms of your hand to try and stop you physically assaulting her. “This is on you not him. You did this, you should have fucking listened to us and know you’ve gotten a boy killed”

Clarke looked stunned at your words mouth opening and closing in shock.

“What the hell is going on?” Finn shouted appearing from the top of the ledge, you’d never been so glad to see the spacewalker before. “Cut him down”

He grabbed an axe and slammed it into the base of the tree the rope had been wrapped around. Murphy fell to the ground once more gasping.

Violence was about to erupt once more and Finn was going to be at the epicentre of it when another voice shouted up. Thin and young you all stopped and looked as Charlotte the young girl from the hunt appeared.

“Stop! Just stop. Murphy didn’t kill Wells! I did”
