Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione 
The 8C Competizione was introduced at the 2006 Paris Motor Show and revived the 8C name originally used for Alfa Romeo’s eight-cylinder racing cars of the 1930s. Styling cues from the company’s post-war sporting cars can be seen in the carbon-fiber body panels, which are supported by a steel space frame. Of the 500 Competizione examples built, 90 were designated for the US, marking the nameplate’s return to the market after a 13-year absence.
The staggered-width 20” alloy wheels feature a cloverleaf-style design and are mounted with 245/35 front and 285/35 rear Pirelli P Zero tires. Stopping power is provided by black Alfa Romeo-branded Brembo calipers over cross-drilled rotors at all four corners. The cockpit features carbon-fiber seats trimmed in black leather accented by red stitching along with a matching headliner and door panels. The dashboard and center console feature brushed aluminum and carbon-fiber trim, and additional equipment includes dual-zone climate control, an Impianto Bose Premium GT sound system, and a navigation system.
Designed by Ferrari and Maserati, the 4.7-liter F136 YC V8 featured a 90° bank angle and a cross-plane crankshaft. It produced 444 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 354 lb-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm when new.  Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed semi-automatic transaxle that can be operated in five different modes of automatic or paddle-controlled shifting. A limited-slip differential was standard.

Why is it so difficult to replace the C-130 Hercules?

The Lockheed C-130 Hercules, a tactical air transport aircraft, is a project from the 1950s. The first flight was made on August 23, 1954, but the plane only entered service in the American Air Force (USAF) two years later, more precisely on December 9, 1956, with a test order of two devices.
By 2015, 2,500 devices had already been produced. This robust and versatile aircraft already has nine different versions and is present in several armed branches of 68 countries, such as Portugal, Canada, Brazil, Norway, Greece, Poland, Sweden, France, among many others.

The challenge of replacing the C-130, to Lockheed Martin's happiness, was not, however, successful. The USAF Tactical Air Command refused the projects for various reasons, but mainly because of the difficulty of a motor plane to perform the landing and takeoff missions on unprepared (or improvised) runways in the middle of the desert, jungle or any other inappropriate place.

In 1979, the unsuccessful attempt to rescue 66 U.S. hostages at the U.S. Embassy in Iran clearly showed the relative unfeasibility (or, at the very least, the disadvised) regarding the use of reaction-engine aircraft for the type of operation to which the C-130 was primarily intended.

The damage caused by the desert sand, - due to the need to make a "floating taxiing" of the RH-53 helicopters (flying a short distance at low speed and altitude) - ended up causing a USAF combat controller, trying to direct the maneuver from the front of the aircraft, to be hit by the desert sand thrown by the rotor, forcing it to move away

Although the accident was not directly caused by the ingestion of sand in the air intakes of the turbines of the engines of the Hercules themselves, the accident itself and the difficulties of the operations in the desert (at that time very little known to the U.S. military) ended up leading the mission to failure, advising the realization of numerous updates of this aviation icon, which allowed the success as the reasons for the failure of Operation Tabas, also hinder operations in that environment of constant "sand storms").

On the other hand, the only Hercules model in production, the C-130J Super Hercules comes equipped with four Rolls Royce AE 2100 D3 turbo-propeller engines, reaches up to 670 km/h, has a range of 3,300 km and transports up to 20 tons.
If we are going to make a quick and simple comparison, the Embraer plane comes out ahead in several aspects, it is faster; it carries more weight and has the larger cargo compartment. Still, the legendary Lockheed remains, for the time being, unsurpassed in terms of resistance and solidity. Able to perform different works such as air refueling, search and rescue, launch of paratroopers, cargo transport, fire fighting and help in humanitarian causes, the KC-390 is not yet such an obvious substitute for the protagonist Super Hercules.
It is true to state that for certain types of mission the use of the KC-390 (mixed load and tank version) will be more appropriate than its Hercules KC-130 equivalent; on the other hand, it will have limitations in relation to the greater robustness of turboprop engines for operations on rudimentary runways, despite the advanced development of peculiar systems, such as those employed
The newly launched Embraer, despite its greater speed and load capacity, will not, however, necessarily - to the manufacturer's relative misfortune -, be the future replacement for the immense (worldal) fleet of C-130 aircraft and will hardly achieve the reliability and durability of this aviation icon present in the four corners of the planet (and it is not even its ultimate goal).
We can conclude that, to a certain extent, these aircraft do not compete directly with each other, but in many respects complement each other, although for the Brazilian Air Force (in particular) it is an interesting and special substitute, especially for the issue of the complete nationalization of equipment and export marketing capacity.

Electric Vehicles Sales in India – Trends & Insights September 2023

In September 2023, India continued to make significant strides in the realm of electric vehicles (EVs), showcasing a 1% month-on-month increase in sales, totaling an impressive 127,735 units. The year-on-year surge of 36% from September 2022 underscores the nation's commitment to sustainable mobility.
Electric two-wheelers played a pivotal role in this growth, with high-speed electric two-wheelers experiencing a 2% month-on-month increase, totaling 63,715 units. Notably, Ola Electric led the pack, capturing a substantial 29.2% market share, followed closely by TVS and Revolt. These top 10 players dominated the market, accounting for 90.75% of total registrations.
Passenger electric three-wheelers also witnessed robust performance, with a 2.4% month-on-month increase, while cargo-type E3Ws experienced a 9.6% decrease. The top eight players, including Mahindra, YC Electric, and Saera Electric Auto, secured a significant 35.63% market share in the overall E3W market.
Electric cars, despite a 9.9% month-on-month decrease in sales, marked a notable growth of 41.5% year-on-year. Tata Motors continued its dominance with a substantial 68.85% market share.
In the electric bus segment, September 2023 saw a total of 258 units sold, reflecting a 4% month-on-month decrease. However, on a year-on-year basis, E-Bus sales grew by 26%. Tata Motors emerged as a key player with a market share of 65.50%, followed by PMI Electro Mobility, Olectra Greentech, Mytrah Mobility, Switch Mobility, and JBM Auto.
State-wise, Uttar Pradesh led in EV registrations (20.57%), followed by Maharashtra (11.06%) and Karnataka (9.40%). These rankings provide insights into the regional distribution of EV sales.

Boeing 377 Stratocruiser
El final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial dejó dos elementos que cambiarían la aviación civil: una gran cantidad de aeródromos militares y enormes bombarderos.
Boeing decidió encarar la disminución de pedidos militares creando un avión civil para vuelos transatlánticos. Tenía gran experiencia fabricando bombarderos y transportes de largo alcance, de modo que en base al modelo 367 creó un avión de pasajeros. Fue llamado 377 Stratocruiser.
En 1945 William Allen, presidente de Boeing, ordenó la construcción de 50 Stratocruiser con la idea de venderlos para cubrir las rutas de preguerra donde reinó el Boeing 314 Clipper.
Fue una gran apuesta. Cuando el prototipo YC-97B mostró que podía volar de Washington a Seattle en seis horas, Pan Am ordenó 20 aviones 377. Pronto llegaron pedidos de SAS, American Overseas Airlines, Northwest, BOAC y United.
El primer Stratocruiser realizó su primer vuelo el 8 de junio de 1947. La certificación tardó algo más y recién pudo entrar en servicio el 7 de septiembre de 1948, con Pan Am. En enero de 1950 United comenzó a volar la ruta San Francisco - Honolulú.

¿Qué es el 377?
Se trata de un avión de dos cubierta, ala baja y cuatro motores Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major (radial, 28 cilindros, 3500 hp, hélice de 4 palas). El tren de aterrizaje es triciclo y el empenaje de cola es lo que hoy conocemos como tradicional: deriva vertical y planos inferiores.
Podía llevar hasta 114 pasajeros (100 en la cubierta principal y 14 en los camarotes de la cubierta inferior) a 6700 kilómetros, a una velocidad crucero de 480 km/h.

A pesar de ser un avión avanzado, espacioso y lujoso, el 377 era caro de operar y poco fiable, en especial el sistema de control de las hélices. El peor accidente del 377 tuvo lugar el 29 de abril de 1952, cuando un aparato se estrelló en el estado de Pará, Brasil, matando a 50 personas; la investigación señaló que el motor n.° 2 se desprendió del ala.
La llegada de la era del jet supuso el fin del 377 en el servicio civil, y fue rápidamente reemplazado por los 707 y DC-8.
