This is a birthday gift I made for my gamer girl friend. She's a huge fan of the game Unravel, so I made her a Yarny from Unravel 2. This game is so beautiful and has yarn in it so I got hooked to it automatically (pun intended 🤭)

The her! The baby! My daughter! :D

Due to her new role and appearance, Gangle gets a new name! Her name is Yarny in the Digital Festival :3

Gangle swaps with Ragatha due to both of them being more emotional? Or I guess they're both more supportive? I don't know, I just thought of Gangle being a yarn doll and ran with it :3

She was very easy to design as I had a clear idea of what I wanted her look like. But I did change a couple things, like I added different colors to make her less flat, made her button eyes yellow instead of white, and unraveled her limbs so I didn't have to draw 4 braids :3 (I'll probably change her 'hands and feet' to have strands, but I think it's fine for now)

I want to get the main characters done first, then supporting characters, then the AIs and then Queenie and Kaufmo! (Separating everything into chunks makes the task feel less intimidating) So next up will be Zooble! Then will be the supporting characters! :3

[wet dream meme for Sasori, but not what you expect]

When Sasori returns to the room, Orochimaru is seated on the carpet and laughing his ass off. He's falls on his back, amidst a hundred tiny spools of sewing thread. The fact that he falls uncomfortably on a dozen, only enriches his laughter. He pulls the spools away from his back during quiet hah-ha's. When Orochimaru laughs honestly, it's an implosion. It's always quiet. His shoulders shake, his hand goes over his face, and he even gets a little red and blushy.

When he calms down, he looks at Sasori, and he says, I figured it out. I know how we can maintain thread-smoothness while retracting! Sasori had been stuck on this for weeks. Orochimaru laughs, It's easy!

And it's 'easy'. Orochimaru's explanation is expertly worded, and super clear. The big hand on the clock moves to the opposite side of the clock, and then his explanation finishes. There's drawings on the white board, of big circles and rosters. And there are impressive calculations in a handwriting that grows smaller and smaller when they get to the bottom, and then they bend to stay within the bottom rim of the whiteboard.

Orochimaru suggests to combine the Umbrella technique, with a roster-grid, and delayed-acquisition, and then batteries, and forcefields. It's terribly complicated, but he doesn't hold back in explaining, expecting Sasori to simply get it and follow along without a hiccup in understanding. Intelligence is sexy.

And then he gestures to the spools on the ground. If he ties the threads of five spools into a yarny mess, and Sasori uses his technique, then all the threads will snap back to their spools without getting knotted. The new technique should scale well too. It should work with a hundred spools too. And that's why Orochimaru was sitting among them.

Let's test this out, Doll, Orochimaru says and fondly caresses the part of Sasori's shirt that covers the heart sigil on Sasori's chest. Right now Orochimaru is Sasori's partner, his proud Master, and his biggest fan. His yellow eyes shimmer with excitement. I want to see what you are capable of.

Oh yes, that one. A dilemma in the simultaneous use of one-hundred puppets for a mission involving the subjugation of an entire nation. Chakra strings were akin to their yarn-like brethren; they knotted and gnarled together into a tumbleweed of strings once interacting, making the coexisting of too many at once nigh impossible.

However, what had bewildered Sasori for weeks had taken Orochimaru only days to solve--and that was what Sasori once hallowed so much about the Sannin; about their partnership. They were so in-sync, like one soul split into two bodies. So, when Orochimaru left, it was as if half of Sasori's soul went with him.

Glistening yellow like gold darkened into empty blackness and it took Sasori a long moment to realize it was but a dream as he stared upward listlessly at the dark ceiling of his bedroom, the fan lazily circling overhead.

The silence was interrupted by a deep snoring and as Sasori swiveled his head towards it, he saw an outline next to him in bed; the moonlight filtered in through the window, illuminating the person's naked flesh and hair--not black but gold. It was Deidara.

Yet, despite with his partner--his new partner--beside him, Sasori had never felt such loneliness than in that very moment; not since the death of his parents. And that was because the man laying next to him was not the one he wished to wake up next to.

It was not Orochimaru.

After years of procrastinating, I finally got around to finish my Yarny doll (and a little fish friend too)! 🧶

Ah! I mean knitting a doll! So how to knit a tiny little half circle shawl for a doll? And the worst part is that there’s a gradient to the shawl, going from white center to a golden yellow and then there’s the bright red flame motif (not gradient). I have a pattern for knitting a doll shape and I’m going to modify it for my purposes but the clothes is what’s tripping me up. Despite being labeled a haori, there are no sleeves or arm holes, it’s just a shawl basically! So I think just knitting a half circle shape might be best? Idk. 🧶

That sounds terribly difficult o.o

Maybe knitt the doll but sew the clothes?

It's taken weeks of work but I did it. I'm now a published crochet designer... did not see this coming when pandemic started but I have amazing friends who needed toys and patterns to get them through this and here we are. It's not an expensive pattern ($0.99 Canadian) but I'm seriously proud of this and I'm hoping it'll help this queer autistic enby survive this whole situation ^-^

Unravel Two

How many players? 1 to 2 What console(s) is it available on? PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PC

Up until now, every game I’ve reviewed has been very exaggerated and animated with cartoon art (with the exception of Rock of Ages II, whatever that is). That changes with Unravel Two, a far more sombre affair with realistic graphics where you play as a pair of Yarnies, yarn dolls rendered so realistically that you could practically feel their very fibres if you touched the screen (although please don’t; there are enough fingerprints on it already).

The central gameplay mechanic around which all else revolves is the thread that connects each Yarny. With it, you can loop around objects in the environment, tether to objects, swing like Spider-Man, make bridges and trampolines, lift up your partner, and generally do everything you can to solve puzzles and keep going right until you can’t no more, you beautiful grandma’s gift, you!

With the sombre tone and realistic graphics comes an emotional and heartfelt story about… actually, I don’t really know. I played through the game with my mum and we had no clue what was going on. The most we could figure out was that there were two kids running. Given the heartbreaking violin playing, they were probably running from as opposed to towards something. Music was great, though, much like the graphics. In general, my mum and I had plenty of fun solving the challenging puzzles when she wasn’t failing to swing across a gap ten times in a row.

This is currently what’s on my needles. 🧶 ☺️💕 I’ve finished knitting fair isle sweaters for all my Pygmies and 1/6th scale girls, so I started working on one to fit Minigenue. The mini-kindred girls are 45cm, 1/4th scale dolls. As long as my interest continues I’ll likely knit one for each of them, continuing on with the Drops 100% Alpaca fingering weight yarn. 🦙 🧶 🪡 🧵 In other exciting yarny news, the Scheepjes River Washed yarn colors all finally restocked, so I hastily ordered a skein of every color. It’s unlikely that I’ll return to the previous projects I’d initially started with that yarn for the Mini-Kindred dolls because of the scale, it’s a larger, Sport wt yarn. But it’s pretty nice for the standard sized Twigling girls using 1.25 or 1.5mm needles. After she went to bed, Iggy & Brooklyn decided to test out the bed.

While Iggy liked his tent, it was nice to sleep in a bed once in awhile.
