So it turns out there's a big craft guild organization thing only a few hours from where I live (I saw an ad for their craft fair), and I got like half my holiday shopping done on their website, and the box arrived today! The thing I was most excited to see in person is fragile, though, and it's really well wrapped in bubble wrap and I don't want it to break when I mail it to the friend it's for, so I am not unwrapping it, but oh man the temptation is there lol I also got myself a little metal bug made of a bottle cap and some wire. It lives on my little corkboard where I put postcards and thank you cards now
#the person behind the yarn#I have gotten a little sewing done today during my lunch break#but not much! not much#these unprecedented times sure are not good for my stress levels lol#but the indoor wasp is outdoor wasp again#and I managed to successfully request prescription refills from two of my doctors this week#(for different medications) so that was good! I'm allergic to an inactive ingredient used by most pharmacies in one med#so I have to get just that one medication from a different pharmacy chain and it throws doctors for a loop every time#other good things: I had the answers ready for a question my boss unexpectedly asked during a meeting today#when my dad last went shopping he got more kleenex and the boxes have flamingoes on them so that's cool!#uhhh my dad is volunteering more which means I get to help out more with some prep things for volunteering#which is great I miss volunteering but I can't do what I used to anymore#for the record I did make this post almost entirely to convince myself not to unwrap the super cool thing for my friend#the other small percentage is because I really like the metal bug#I want to make some metal bugs#I don't think I have any of whatever the artist used for filling the bottle cap but I have hot glue that'll probably work#...I think I'm going to make some metal bugs

#news from the cupola#where's that leyendecker painting of the extremely built 18thc soldier helping his best girl with her wool. you know the one?#back on point this is the most beautiful yarn I have ever worked with but it hates me and wants me to suffer#currently I am in the part of the skein where it feels like I have been here for a hundred years and made no progress at all#it sticks to itself like GLUE if you so much as look away from it for a second and if you use too much force it will Dissolve.#after this project NO more lace weight EVER again. I am so glad that I am intertwining it with normaler yarn for the actual knitting.

first time with punch needle
I got a set for a strawberry coaster and a punch needle at a hobby lobby a while ago and I finally got around to doing the thing. It's a bit messy but that was to be expected. Honestly I didn't really like it and it felt like a task I had to finish that I really didnt want to after a while, so I probably won't be doing much punch needle stuff again, but I like the coaster nonetheless

You ever do something that you think is going to be an easier alternative but it just ends up being a pain in the ass?
I spent an hour and half making three of these little yarn tufts for the fur on Rimuru's boots, but I estimate it'll take about 14 of these to cover the tops of both boots.
All because I wanted to save a little money on some faux fur trim
#'oh i didn't need to spend money on fur and dye it i have so much yarn i can use instead'#the problem is i didn't want to make traditional wefts and glue the top of the weft#not only because it takes a ton of space to keep them while they're drying but bc it would take all night to dry#and all day to glue. i have multiple unfinished dolls only missing hair bc i hate making wefts#so i wasn't about to make 100 glue wefts for human sized boots#so my solution was tie the yarn fringe to another piece of yarn directly and brush it on the yarn#but the yarn is bouncy and it's so hard to brush while tied to string and it was a huge pain in the ass#and i have to do that like 4 more times 😭#it's gonna look great tho

future project idea: when I find my matching hot glue gun and hot glue sticks, I want to see if I can make some kind of dragon/snake/lizard out of a like crumpled paper base with thumbtack things as the scales (I found a box of shiny metal thumbtacks)
