sonic 3 spoilers (i’m rlly just crying over shadow)

shadows story keeps me up at night over how gut wrenchingly depressing it is LET ME PROCESS THIS PLS!!!

for example can you imagine hurtling down to earth so hard you can’t remember anything about your past, your home, your loved ones, anything? as soon as you’re conscious you’re surrounded by some weird alien species (humans) who already have their hands on you.

you’re poked and prodded and put into weird liquid jail cells that preserve your body and these weird creatures force you to do the weirdest tests and tasks.

all of them look at you like you’re dangerous, as if you had 3 heads on your body that can shoot lasers out of their eyes at any given moment.

you’re a prisoner with no free will or any control over your situation.

this is your life.

every single day is exactly the same.

but then one day a tinier human (maria) shows up one day, one who you assume is just like the others, but she doesn’t expect anything out of you.

she doesn’t see you as some all powerful being, or a science experiment, or something that could kill her in an instant if you so choose to do so.

she teaches you how to dance, and shows you music, and movies, and she sneaks you out of testing so you two can goof off, and you two laugh together, and talk about everything, and spend every possible moment with each other, showing nothing less than equal gratitude and love and respect towards one another.

she’s all smiles, and happiness, and the only joy in your life.

and then just like that she fucking dies from the hands of those who’ve kept you captive for god knows how long.

THEN you get thrown into another liquid prison for 50 YEARS. RIGHT AFTER THE ONLY THING YOU CARED ABOUT DIED RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU AND YOURE STUCK RELIVING THAT MOMENT FOR 50. YEARS.

she was the one human being that ever showed shadow even just an ounce of love and kindness and then he’s left to assume that everyone else is horrible and only want something out of him like???? Oh My God???????

okay so

i just got home from aot the last attack and oh my god, it was genuinely so good.

even though it was just the two last episodes + post credit scene, i truly felt like i was watching it for the first time again.

i cried SOOOO many times, to the point where i got home and realized i cried off the wings of my eyeliner 😭😭😭.

part of me can’t help but feel a void now that i know there’s no “new” content coming out for attack on titan. like that’s it. it’s done.

i did have fun going, i brought along my reiner nendroid with me and took pictures of him throughout. I also made my boyfriend come with me (who hasn’t watched the anime but has read the entire manga).

i have sooooo many things i want to talk about pertaining to the showing that i feel like i can’t write them all here, if anyone wants to chat about it or anything aot PLEASE DM ME.

i love aot with everything i have and am so glad that it got done right with its ending.

As much as my prison arc loving self would love to say something around that, my answer would have to be the moment where Schlatt gives Dream the revive book. I've been thinking about it more lately For Reasons, and I was real hooked on what that could've looked like ages ago. Always wanted to draw it but couldn't ever really get an idea solid enough.

I want to know how that conversation started! I wanna hear the questions Dream asks about where it came from and how Schlatt got it! Would Dream ask him why he didn't use it himself, and what would his answer be,,,? What did they do to confirm it's real and not a scam? Heck, I just wanna know what sort of meeting place they chose! aaaaaa

dragging this out of my drafts in celebration of the final saga which reasserted my idea, so I present to you my take on epic + a reflection through the stages of grief! if anyone has a different take or wants to add something please feel free to do so, I would love to hear your opinions!

so. the stages of grief is considered to have seven main stages: denial/shock, pain/guilt, anger/bargaining, depression, upward turn, reconstruction/working through, and acceptance. I think as epic the musical progresses through its sagas, it works through the stages of grief in a really interesting way.

stage 1 is denial and shock, which fits in with troy saga and cyclops saga. in troy, we see the denial + shock very clearly in just a man (+ the last section of the horse and the infant). cyclops saga is also much of the same - the denial and the incredibly impactful shock of his comrades and specifically polites' death that literally shows up to make sure he's still traumatized every saga. cyclops saga also kind of bleeds into the next stage!

stage 2 is pain and guilt, which we can attach to the saga odysseus loses the most number of men, that is, ocean saga! this is also associated with guilt because the death of his crew is directly related to odysseus' decision to open arms style let polyphemus live.

stage number 3, anger and bargaining, has the most sagas attached to it - circe, underworld, and thunder. circe is very clearly bargaining, as he does exactly that with circe to let his men go. underworld is a mix of both anger and bargaining, as he bargains with tiresias and himself, and eventually uses his anger to fuel his decision to accept becoming a monster. thunder saga fully centers on anger, ruthlessly killing the sirens and sacrificing his men to scylla. there's also an element of bargaining, though, in both mutiny and thunder bringer, as he bargains with his crew and with zeus respectively.

stage number 4, the most fun (lie), depression! this stage parallels wisdom saga for multiple reasons. firstly, on calypso's island odysseus really is at his lowest, emotionally speaking, tormented and desperate and, yeah, pretty depressed. also, something interesting is that this is the first saga where we pull away from odysseus' pov, which fits because a depressed odysseus is not going to be up to lead an entire saga.

stage 5, at long last, is the upward turn - that is, vengeance saga! after seven years of apparently no way to escape, he gets a chance, an opportunity! and he's immediately met with hermes - odysseus isn't alone! also, he finally defeats the most prominent godly opponent, poseidon, and in some vague way gets a tiny bit of closure from the people he's been haunted by so far (it's definitely not a complete fix, but it's a step!).

and finally, ithaca saga is stage 6 (reconstruction and working through), and touches on stage 7 (acceptance and hope). odysseus spends the saga reconstructing his place as ithaca's king by getting rid of the suitors and reasserting himself as the most powerful. he also (re)constructs his relationship with telemachus, athena, and penelope. he works through (inasmuch as he can in two songs) the issues in their relationships. these last two songs also touch on acceptance (as telemachus' father, penelope's husband - both as this new odysseus, not the one who left 20 years ago) and hope, but I think the majority of this stage takes place post musical.

Being a Captain 3 fan that hates agent 24 is so fuckin hard man. Everything is always about them being a thing and it’s so annoyiiiiing.
