I’ve been thinking about this panel A LOT and how we, the reader, know Sakura’s comment about the shed is incredibly messed up (even before the reveal bc we got a glimpse of it in Beach Episode)

But more than that, Nirei’s response. It’s so innocent. He knows Sakura has 0 experience going to a friend’s house, or even what a “normal” house setup looks like. Nirei is just trying to adjust Sakura’s expectations—even with the reassurance of “no, even if they have a shed, it’s not essentially a mini house.” Everyone is so used to Sakura not having “normal” life experience to draw on, so the fact this doesn’t raise any red flags to them hurts worse knowing what comes next

I think if class 1-1 ever finds out the truth of Sakura’s past, they’ll raise hell on his behalf. And I don’t want to even imagine Nirei’s reaction. The guilt and sorrow and anger in that boy will be legendary

WANDLORE: CELENE VELMONT ⮕ acacia wood, dragon heartstring core, 13 1/2 inches, unyielding

WAND WOOD | acacia wood is an unusual wood which created extremely sensitive and picky wands that would not work for anyone other than their rightful owner, and wouldn't produce strong magic for magical persons it considers "ungifted". The wood very much matches Celene's own possessiveness. It's often not clear, given all the heroics she tends to do, but what's hers is hers and she is not fond of sharing, whether it be food or people. She also keeps most of herself hidden beneath general politeness except those she accepts as special to her, though unlike acacia wood wands they don't necessarily need a special power, they're special to her just cause she likes them, but she does engage more with people with something unique to offer, such as Seb's dark magic knowledge and Natty's experience with wandless magic.

MAGICAL CORE | dragon heartstrings core wands are renowned for producing the most powerful and flamboyant magic, and were speedy learners, which lines up perfectly for miss ancient magic user and all the "booms". wands with dragon heartstring cores are also the easiest to turn to the dark arts, which again, perfect fit for little miss dark witch celene. though, she doesn't necessarily consider herself a "dark" witch, magic is magic, it's how you use it. she's not against killing though, so it's not wrong either to call her one.

WAND LENGTH | despite being a certified shortie, Celene's wand is fairly long at 13 1/2 inches. according to garrick ollivander, long wands "tend to be drawn to bigger personalities, and those of a more spacious and dramatic style of magic", which certainly accommodates the ancient magic stuff well, also Celene's preference for fiery spells. Those with longer wands are thought to be big hearted and accepting, though that isn't necessarily always the case, since Voldemort used multiple long wands and that man had the emotional range of a pea. In Celene's case, I wouldn't say it's untrue, she does have a fairly good aligned morality (in dnd terms, she'd be chaotic neutral) and is friendly to most she encounters, but the depth of that connection is honestly limited. In three years time once she finishes her schooling and returns home, she's not going to think much about most of the people she left behind. One example is professor garlick, nice enough but not important to her, only remembers her name 'cause she's a teacher. So it's not like she's particularly mean or cruel, but she doesn't get deeply invested in everyone. You do you, and she do she, aside from dangerous situations, there's no need to interact.

FLEXBILITY | although dragon heartstring wands typically easily change owners, if won from their previous owner, Celene's wand is unyielding, likely due to her wand wood and refuses to work for anyone else. It moves itself if someone else tries to touch it, starts setting fires if grabbed, it's a very pissy little stick.

STYLE | celene's wand is natural in cut style, and grey in colour, she does have a little habit of collecting various handles, and switching them out, but could just be her rich girl tendencies, lol, she does, however, favour the celestial light grey handle (which in my head is made of marble)

i downloaded that app that lets you try different hair colors bcuz i wanted to see what i would look like with blonde hair and bangs. the bangs looked literally so horrible and the shade of blonde was awful buttt i lowkey wanna make my whole head blonde. rn i have blonde highlights but i’m thinking i wanna go in more often for highlights and see how it looks with my whole head blonde i think it would be pretty.

Alphinaud's character development over the expansions has been so good. I remember how I used to not like him much, he was a bit snobbish and thought he was always in the right, he refused to accept when he was wrong. Yes, he's young, but 16 is old enough to know when you're wrong and to accept it. It didn't help how sheltered he was and how much the people around him allowed him to stay that way, hiding things from him when he should rightfully know them.

After what happened with the Crystal Braves, you could see how he realized just how his mindset came to bite him in the bud and we get to watch as he slowly begins growing as a person. He has his moments where he still struggles, but then he realizes and he backtracks, he tries again. We see him rely on the people around him more and accept help from them, especially the WoL, Estinien, and Ysayle during Heavensward.

You can't tell me that ARR-STB took place in less than a year, especially with all the traveling via land and sea alike the group had to do during Stormblood. We get to watch him grow over at least a year and then, in Shadowbringers, he grows again, just without us there. You can tell how he has matured a bit more during the near year he was in The First without us and it's nice to see the difference between the arrogant, stuck up kid we met and the boy he is now.

Wow, this chapter has made me really upset and frustrated with Gojo, and I hope Shoko is okay. I also felt a little bit of jealousy when Y/N saw Gojo's true affection for Megumi as opposed to his fucked-up obsession with her.

Hey, the way you've portrayed Gojo is pretty intriguing, and I'm curious whether you truly believe canon Gojo has that sort of darkness inside him. If so, could you perhaps explain your perspective behind it, or do you simply characterize him in that way for your fic?

chapter spoilers for those late summer nights up ahead — avoid if you haven’t read up to chapter 28

hi mermaid! i get what you mean. i really do! gojo is very frustrating in this story because of his delusion. it makes him very difficult to deal with both as the reader who tries to evade him as well as the characters i’ve orchestrated who try to reason with him.

for shoko, it’s a wait and see. admittedly that chapter is an evil cliffhanger because i’d like to bring the next chapter to focus on y/n and how she’s on her escape route.

on the last question, kind of, but not to this extent. with yandere stories, i try to play on a character’s traits and work them into how they might act in such a situation. for example, choso would be scared of hurting the reader because he feels guilt for his past actions, so he ends up being very protective or shoko would be gravely afraid of losing y/n after seeing most of her friends die, so she might cling to the reader.

for gojo, i went with a dark personality because canonically, yes, he is seen as a tool in the corrupt system that jujutsu has woven around him. he might want to use his power and influence that he can’t run from, to make someone’s life a bit easier. he believes truly that he’s helping y/n because he’s helping her game the system and stand up to it. geto tried to do similar but ended up pushing y/n away, so out of his love for her. he reluctantly lets go even if it hurts him.

gojo will need a pretty loud wake up call to gain the same realisation and that much is… coming up.

however, i don’t think that gojo canonically would be like this. the above was just for the story. i think that his character outside of the happy go lucky, goofy lil guy persona might have some darkness to it because the hidden inventory arc was a traumatising time. i think his experiences as an adult that have made him experience hardship and loss and witness genuine horrors have definitely damaged his psyche.

but not enough to make him evil. gojo canonically cares about everyone he interacts with on a close basis. he loves his friends, his found family and the like. he tries to make people’s lives easier by taking on the burden. he tries to give his students a semblance of a childhood.

in the case of a yandere though, all i did was amplify his worse traits and even if i do think that gojo’s suffering canonically is on the darker side, i dont think, no, that he would be as dark of a character as he is in my story.
