Story of Minglan - watching

i'm obssessively watching Story of Ming Lan and it's very slow building up everything and the first three episodes are Very Confusing - I wish they had nametags - and there's still things we didn't see!

i would like to see the introduction of House Qi to House Sheng and how Yuanruo (Qi Heng, Heir of Duke of Qi) came be at their academy at all. (i think. Yuanruo is his courtesy name...)

(I will assume it's because the teacher Zhang and House Qi was like: oh, he can hang out at the Sheng House! Maybe Sheng Hong (ineffectual dad) and the Duke of Qi hit it off at Court)

more of changbai, the second child/eldest brother; he seems very amicable and Ming Lan was so happy to see him place high; i would like to see more of their relationship early on

really more of the brothers; there always Shit Happening at the ladies' courtyards; are the brothers just hiding in their rooms??? XD

there's a scene in episode 15 where the whole place is circus

I'm on episode 21 but I am kinda burnt out for a bit so I am taking a short break...

so quick note, there seems to be five ranks of nobles (royalty not included): duke (gong - 1st rank), marquis (hou - 2nd rank), earl/court (bo - 3rd rank), viscout (zi - 4th rank) and baron (nan - 5th rank).

so Duke is 1st rank and Baron is 5th. the protagonist's house of Sheng is a fifth rank house and Duke is considered too high for them to marry. which is why i'm confused as to why Yuanrou is studying with them

also: the men only wear One hairstyle in this drama (Northern Song Dynasty) and it's topknots. I miss the long hair (and braids) of other dramas... like Princess' Agents Northern Wei) I still don't understand why it's called Princess Agents

This was only meant to be a sketch. It was only meant to be a sketch!! - things I tell myself as my hand keeps drawing.

All I wanted to do was sketch out this idea for a fire fan dance pose and then I couldn’t stop refining the sketch until I was satisfied, so it's not a completely 'finished' or whatever artwork. Like, i didn't even finish the fans LOL. I had no plan for art and just did whatever looked ‘good’ lol. I included the original sketch as well as a headshot doodle!

This is my OC Han Yanyuan. He’s loosely based on/an AU of my character Tanaka Yuuto. In the AU, Yanyuan eventually gets chosen by a formerly exiled God with a bad reputation to serve them and be their liaison between the mortal and spiritual world, only Yanyuan wasn’t a candidate to be chosen for this so Xinfang (the God) is in hot water about it with the rest of the pantheon for multiple reasons.

The AU, which I’ve been coming up with Frey (@heyaitsfreyah) is already quickly becoming a hyper focus for me. I can feel it in me bones, Mr Krabs. There’s some info about Yanyuan specifically already up on Yuuto’s toyhouse
