Oof, I'm here now! Better later than never, so first request is concept/HCS for Solas from Dragon Age Inquisition, please -🐈

I'm really hoping I don't mess up this character because he's so damn important. But if I do... I apologize as my knowledge on the topic is still not the best. I appreciate feedback since this character is so complex.

Adding "V1" to this since this was written when I'm very new to Dragon Age... also DA4 isn't out, so that may change things.

Yandere! Solas Concept V1

Pairing: Platonic/Romantic

Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Manipulation, Deception, Overprotective/Possessive, Isolation, Kidnapping, Solas thinks he's doing the right thing, Somewhat lucid yandere, OOC Solas most likely, Dubious companionship/relationship.

I personally feel, due to his origins, his obsession is more likely to lean platonic.

He is capable of feeling love but he may feel more like a mentor towards his obsession.

After all, he's really an ancient elf that's lived for thousands of years.

He is a man who wants to do whatever he can to help, just like he wanted to do for his people.

Yet his efforts probably isn't always the right thing.

He is a wise being who would first concern himself with watching over you.

Especially if you are an Inquisitor.

Solas does care about his obsession despite what he does, just like in his romance.

He's surprisingly honest, sometimes admitting things you don't quite understand.

His obsession makes him falter in his goals.

At first he isn't sure what to think of that.

His goal is to take down The Veil to restore Ancient Elves to their former glory.

Solas is loyal to his people and would sacrifice anything to achieve his goal.

But he begins to hesitate when he thinks of you.

Maybe he really does just see your bond as mentor and student.

That or he catches himself having genuine feelings for you.

Either way, the obsess he has over you makes him wish he could ignore it.

He cares about you... he knows his goal may end up hurting you in the end.

By the point he really starts to focus in his goal you've both known each other for a few years.

Which is why his decisions hurt him more.

I feel most of Solas' feelings and obsession are bittersweet.

It feels like yet another tragedy between him and his obsession.

He's torn between his goals that he's been focusing on, and you.

He feels you're both victims of fate in this situation.

He's always cared about you... even if things aren't meant to be.

Solas found the missions you did together enjoyable, your chats being a welcome form of entertainment for him.

He feels horrible that he's deceiving you and soon going to betray you in the end.

But when that eventually happens and you two cross paths... he'll find a way to compromise.

I imagine until his plan is fulfilled... Solas does not plan on letting his obsession go.

He's a powerful ancient elf mage who is extremely intelligent.

Solas may outsmart his obsession, he's seen a lot as an ancient elf.

Once you meet him again, years after the events of Inquisition, he has a plan.

He hopes you will forgive him when he constructs a trap for you.

By the time of Trespasser Solas has proven to be very strong with his magic.

The moment he gets you close enough, he embarks on his plan.

You'll stay beside him while he prepares to collapse The Veil...

Somehow he plans to safe you while sacrificing all the rest.

He never liked others around you while in the Inquisition.

He felt in a way they were unworthy, since the start Solas has felt a connection with you.

So... who cares what happens to the rest when he collapses The Veil?

He just cares about you... even though he hates to admit it, he wants you.

If he has to trap you beside him with a spell, so be it.

You may look at him with such betrayal in your eyes... but he tries to soothe you.

He says he's sorry... yet this is how things are meant to be.

He'll keep you beside him for as long as he can.

Even if he fails to save you... he'll never forget you.

Solas is a very tragic yandere... one who seems like he's your friend and companion...

Only to betray you in the end in many ways.

He wants to soothe the pain you feel... all while he keeps you trapped by his side, away from all you know.

You may be a friends... you may be lovers...

Regardless of what you are... you're his... and that's all that matters to him right now.

Ahh absolutely! I won't be as creative as I would like to because I didn't play Inquisition in so long. I'm sorry.🩷But I love him and I'm glad you asked! Sorry it's been ages, I had a lot going on. I hope you're still here.

I thought of a yandere Solas before! "A talented dreamer can shape the Fade and affect the dreams of sleeping people, killing or driving them mad." Think about all the dirty things that could happen. And the way he would haunt your admirers.

Dreams:

Naturally, he can navigate this world far better than you ever could, and you would have no idea of his visits, of the hours he spends watching you. Would you even know if he played with your mind? If he reached closer than he allows himself in the material world? Maybe he even liked to have you so unaware, unable to fight back.

Just as he can never get you out of his head, he would not let you forget about him. Even after leaving you, he would have you dream of him every night. Do you deny yourself sleep for it? Or do you embrace your slumbers for a glimpse of him? His hunger is not sated by a mere glance at you, but he can't have you remembering those moments yet. But if you wake up in the middle of the night, hot and bothered, needing something to fill you, there's probably a reason for that.

Kidnapping:

You may call him selfish, he would not protest to that, but he wouldn't change himself for it. If you ever tried to move on, or if anybody had their eyes on you, he would know. One night is all he needs to fix that.

- You can't have a peaceful sleep if you dare think of anybody else but him. He would burn images in your mind, of what you could have instead. He would have you plead for a real touch, beg for a release. But you wouldn't deserve that. He just has to make sure he ruins you till all you can think of is him.

- Whoever thinks they can find a place in your heart would have the worst nightmares of their life, if they can even awaken from it. No matter how much they liked or loved you before, they would not be able to fight against what they experienced. And if they ever did, Solas would find a way to make sure they won't wake up from it the next time.

You may have parted ways, but it doesn't have to stay that way. He doesn't have to be fulfilled with dreams of you when he can just have you. Whether he sticks to his path or change his goals, he will make sure you're by his side for it.

He would find ways to keep you busy, enjoy it as your assertive protests slowly turn into whimpers in his ears, break you down until your love for him overpowers anything else.

He believes all mortal beings deserve to die. He is bald but in a very unsexy way. He exudes zero chemistry and talking to him about romance is like talking to a boiled egg.

He is a smelly know it all, and that's before you find out he is a deity in disguise who caused the rift you spend the game trying to fix in the first place and he betrayed you and chopped off your hand

Look. I’ll admit I have not personally romanced solas. I am baffled that anyone would WANT to romance solas. I know we all love a waify little elf wizard with questionable motivations but jfc look at him like im trying not to say anything demeaning about bald dudes but he does not wear it well. Also iirc you can only romance him if you’re also an elf and then he’s weirdly rude and dismissive if your character is Into Elf Culture. Look im a huge lesbian but Iron Bull is RIGHT FUCKING THERE why would you do this.

Oh I could go ON AND ON but here’s a list: He’s a stalker, he showed up late to a date HE REQUESTED, he killed either your landlord, roommate, or coworker (depending on route) and stuck them in a freezer, lied to the police about it, followed by a car ride either consisting of traumadumping about his family (valid tbh) or him talking about how much he wants to fuck your brains out, then you finding a bloody knife in his glove compartment, asking about it, and him smashing your head into the window to shut you up while he takes you to his house. He is The Worse Datable, as well as The Only Datable because well…he killed the others…and kidnapped you….

Fenris

He doesn't want to hurt you. He's never wanted to hurt you. But he can't control his temper and sometimes you're in the room when he gets pissed and he can't stop himself. Is always apologizing and begging for forgiveness afterwards.

Seriously, if someone else tries talking to you or even looks at you in a way he doesn't like then his temper gets the better of him. Does his best to hurt the other person when there's less witnesses.

Probably keeps you locked in the mansion with him. It's just the two of you and he treasures all of that time with you.

There are times when he has to leave to help Hawke, but he always promises he'll come back. You wish he wouldn't.

Leliana

She knows all the gossip and rumors. She's heard all of your deep dark secrets. And she's not afraid to blackmail you to be hers.

Everyone knows to stay away from you because you're hers. So yes, you're allowed to walk around but no one talks to you or pays you any mind. No one except her, of course.

She always knows if you're plotting an escape. She's always three steps ahead. So you might as well stay put S/O. She would hate to use you as a meal for the crows as a punishment.

So while you might have the illusion of being free, you're really just a bird in a cage and she's got the key.

Solas

He's just the bald elf that goes on tangents about his people. That's the image he likes to share with others.

Started out the same with you. He's sweet and tells you all sorts of stories before he's telling you what the others truly think of you. What you're really capable of. If you're allow him to show and help you.

Manipulation is child's play for him and you're caught like a bug in a spider's web. He's just spinning more and more words for you to love him more and hate everyone around you.

And maybe you catch onto his manipulation, maybe you realize it for what it is. Except you can't escape. How can you run from a god?

I LOVE video games! Been playing since I was a kid actually, starting out with Zelda: Link to the Past. Moved on to Tomb Raider series and Spyro before discovering Final Fantasy with Final Fantasy 7. Fun fact: some of the first fanfic I read was Cloud/Sephiroth, including dubcon stuff.

Some of my all time favorites, in no particular order: 

Final Fantasy series (especially 9 and 6), 

Mass Effect trilogy (there is no fourth game, it was only a trilogy, do not @ me), 

Dragon Age series (I will never recover from Solas breaking my heart)

Silent Hill series (2 is god tier and probably in my top 5 ever), 

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines (absolutely amazing, also in my top 5. Malkavian and Tremere for life)

Danganronpa (only played the first two so far, but omg I love them. Nagito can do so many things to me.)

Borderlines 2 (I have sunk a ridiculous amount of time into it playing co-op with friends)

Outlast and the DLC: Outlast is one of the games that legit terrified me, haven’t felt that scared by a game since Silent Hill 2.

Black Wolves Saga (a Japanese game with a fan translation, so many amazing yanderes. One of the few games that made me bawl like a fucking baby. I do believe my heart is still broken from this game.)

I also play otome games, and a ton of them have yandere love interests. Nameless, Nightshade, Code Realize, Amnesia.

I'm trying to think if there are any Dragon Age yanderes and honestly aside from Anders and Cullen in the first game I can't spot any. You're the professional, are there any I've missed?

Hmmm, just going based on canon, I’d say DA2 Anders is definitely the biggest one by far. From the first game, I don’t think Leliana and Zevran are explicitly yandere, but I do think they both have decent potential to be and maybe show some hints of it in canon, if you squint. Obviously DA2 has Anders, but same as with Leliana and Zevran I think Merrill and Fenris both have potential but not too much in canon. Inquisition is a bit sparser IMO, but depending on how a Solas that was romanced develops in the next game I could definitely see it going that way!

♡  Solas truly can be a bastillion of calm when you act up or turn frantic, as well as be scarier than anything you have ever seen in your life when you finally calm down. Though he’ll try to soothe your shivering state when he tells you, you will never leave this space he created for you and you will always be by his side as long as he wishes to be at yours, it doesn’t mean you won’t get punished if you do something unfavorable. Slapping him earns you a disappointed sigh and slowly numbing arms, making you realize it’s his doing, or perhaps that of the Fate. Crying all day long just leads to incomprehension as Solas believes this is what you wanted, and pushing him away from you as he tries to give you comfort will just make him not try that again for a few days, telling you sharply to get yourself together on your own then. Solas might leave for a while, but he always comes back eventually. He doesn’t want to have arguments with you - even though you are being obnoxious with your behavior - and he tries to mend things with presents from the outside and new things to keep yourself busy with, like books. There’s nothing that would make him happier than to learn something new with you in the bits of time he has to spend only with you. Perhaps he can even teach you magic! No, not that magic, though, not the one that would let you escape. That was a silly thought, and he thinks about how he can get it out of your head as soon as possible

♡  Then again, if you’d just let him help, he’ll be sure you will feel more than happy in his care. Solas’ fear is dying alone, and to an extent, he can see where your fears might be rooted now, especially with him having to set out on missions without you a lot, leaving you behind alone. Gladly, he’ll help you rest in exchange for your cooperation, having his magic lull you into another dreamless night where Solas will be gone without you knowing. But at least until your conscience slips, he’ll hold you in his arms, making sure you can settle in gently and comfortably. Of course, he’s also guilty of using his magic in many more situations, but it was all for your best, and perhaps his too, he believes. Screaming, crying, it’s all so exhausting. It would be so much better if you’d just let him care for you and have him keep control over things that concern you. Solas has lost too much control over the world already, at least in his personal little heaven with you by his side he wants to feel like everything is going right - even if that means knocking you out against your will when you are hurting both of you two. He can get over your selfish thinking as he reminds himself every day that you love him too, stealing kisses from your lips when you can’t respond to it and cooing about his love without fail, hoping it will reach your twisted mind

♡  It’s a very sore topic for him. He can see you aren’t happy. Even though he’s laying the world - his world - at your feet, you are still reluctant and unsatisfied. At the same time, however, Solas is happy. He has you to come home to, and you aren’t leaving him like so many others did. It might still take a while until you come to understand how his doings are bettering the world. Still, he assures you daily that there won’t be any harm to come to you and that you’ll be able to live happily ever after with him for all eternity. Surely, something meant well for him as it sent you his way in these hard times Solas is going through. But knowing that you are kept safe and sound gives him more hope and confirmation in his plans. Now, he can justify it not only by doing it for the elves and himself. No, now he does it for you too, for the person he loves more than anyone else. How great is his heart that he’ll fight wars if it means that the future will be beautiful and bright for you two? Other people had more foolish reasons than Solas for world domination after all, and you’ll see, one day, you will understand what all he did for you, and you will accept it. There is. No. Other. Possibility.
