This is random but I actually wanna talk about yandere simulator and the developer.. As you know, Alex. Aka the yandere dev has been exposed for sexual assault , harrasment and more. Some of you guys had asked me if I still supported him because I am currently writing FOR yandere simulator so my answer is no. DUDE I JUST PLAYED THROUGH THE GAME, WHY IS IT SO SADDDD😭😭😭

Starling went through quite a few redesigns through the entire development process so let me talk about it a bit :3

It all started with this notes app drawing I made with my finger

Right from the start we knew his tail would be made out of tongues but figuring out how many and placed how was quite hard, I really had to girlmath my way thru

This was the first actual drawing I made of him. The story wasn't complete yet but I went ahead and designed something anyway. Here he was definitely "scarier" and his scar was also placed differently. He had gills on his neck but as you will see I changed their location to under his arms later on. We were actually considering not giving him a tongue of his own so I wanted to make his mouth terrifyingly big and empty.

Here I tried giving him bigger eyes like a fish. This was when his playful and childlike personality had started shaping as you can see from the expressions. I definitely liked this direction better but it also wasn't perfect just yet so I went ahead and did a few more changes

I slowed down on trying to figure out his design a bit after that and instead focused on how his sprite would look. He is a merman after all, he can't just stand straight like a lot of the other visual novel characters. This stage was PAINFUL.

These were the first ones I sketched, we ended up deciding we liked the 3rd one the best.

I carried that 3rd one over to another canvas and started playing around with how we could place his tail, we started entertaining the idea of having him sit on a big rock

This is when his pose really shaped up. The animated Little Mermaid movie was actually a big inspiration, I sat and rewatched the entire movie and studied how they animated her tail

And after that I finally finalized his design. We decided to change the end of his tail to be more eel like for aesthetic purposes (normal tail shape looked weird with tongues)

And for anyone wondering this is what Maelyn looked like at first. Since the story wasn't complete yet I thought it'd take place in a more modern setting and designed her with that in mind but we decided to have the story take place in 1800s so I changed the design based on that. I did a lot of research on glasses and corsets to make the design as accurate as I could.

Yes glasses! We didn't use the sprites in the main story but Maelyn does wear glasses and looks very pretty in them if you ask me. You will be seeing more of it in the bonus episodes!

I'm starting to make storyboards for the comic a little bit

in the process I ran into the problem that... Well, I need to come up with a design for Y/N, I know that in fact y/n should not have a design (because basically it's you), but a simple character template will not look very good in a comic for my idea

Now I'm thinking about the character design:

And I do not know what to do, it is easier for me to draw y/n in male forms, but I also remember that I need to strive to draw non-specific forms of the character (or neutral, as it is correct to call it). These are the little problems I have now, I'm thinking about it out loud, maybe these difficulties in drawing will be familiar to you ^^

From time to time I see notifications with likes of my not quite au with rsa!mobs. Also considering that I liked Neigh from the very beginning and wrote fics about him, one idea came up. I will regret it very much, very much, but..

As if, now my old-new impression of the characters is like this.

Here they are from left to right:

Aro, - we'll leave the names as they were originally intended, in order to honor of the original author - the quietest and most suspicious of the three. You're walking down the street, there he is. You went into the store to buy some groceries, he's standing in front of the checkout. You went jogging in the woods, and there he is, too.

His image plays into his hands as many times as it takes. At some point, you notice him in the distance or, on the contrary, very close, it doesn't matter, and you begin to consider him part of the background. Who are you to bother him, right?

I thought it was just a local thing 😭 man, we're all out in these trenches. and the worst part? it's not super uncommon for me to go without electricity for a few days, ESPECIALLY since I'm out in the middle of nowhere with really old infrastructure. And don't get me started on the scheduled blackouts ugh

BUT this does make me think of a handsome foreign yandere offering you a greencard marriage, all so you can 'make it out of here.' And he promises that it's all totally fake, that he doesn't expect anything from you, that you can get it anulled whenever you want. But everything is so different and scary for you when you arrive in his country. Culture shock is a real thing after all. It's just safer for you to stay home baby.

He doesn't teach you the language, he doesn't let you make friends, and when he starts being a bit more pushy about sharing your bed - c'mon doll, we're married - there's no one you can turn to. When your passport and papers just suddenly disappear? Yeah, that's when you start to wonder if this first world living is worth the cost.

These guys are your potential roommates at Evergreen Grove University.

From left to right:

Crow: An emo dude who absolutely does not even remotely believe in the paranormal. He has a bit of a temper, but cares deeply for his friends Absinthe and Salem. Crow spends his free time pumping iron at the university's student gym, binging horror movies, and searching for a friend of his who's gone missing.

He's 23 years old.

He majors in tech (IT).

Absinthe: A scene girl who's totally in love with the game StarBlitz. She ships Strawberry Paws and Zephyr, and likes to incorporate elements of her favorite characters (and hobbies) into her outfits. She's a ball of sunshine, an avid competitive gamer, and always makes time to hang out with her friends Salem and Crow. Although she participates in Salem's paranormal investigations, she's terrified of the occult!

She's 24 years old.

She majors in fashion design.

Salem: A goth guy who isn't allowed to dress gothic due to his helicopter parents. He's PASSIONATE about paranormal investigation, he even has a whole channel dedicated to the spoooooky adventures that he and his friends Absinthe and Crow embark on. He's similar to a golden retriever, always full of energy and hope, even being a bit naive at times. He has no sense of personal safety.

He's 24 years old.

He majors in film production.
