Hi, Miss Raven! What're your thoughts on the new characters' designs and the new cards we're getting?
[You can see the designs for the Halloween 2023 cards and other related TWST news here!]
Tumblr media
I'll post my general thoughts below! I unfortunately don't know enough about Pinocchio myself to point out all the little easter eggs in their outfits, so I'll leave that to those who are more knowledgeable than me.
***Spoilers below the cut!!***
Regarding the NRC boys' looks overall, I think it's a very fun theme and very fitting for the location of the event. I like that they all still wear masks, just in a different context than in Glorious Masquerade. One thing I did notice is that the masks seem... same-y? Like they all resemble thick tree roots or something like that. So maybe they aren't masks at all, but they're associated with whatever the conflict in the story is. (I previously suggested mind control or the loss of consciousness, so maybe the "roots" play into that???) You can see the marionette theme Yana was going for, as well as some design elements from Black Butler's circus arc, very clearly. The poses for each of the boys, even the R cards, are extremely dynamic and imply a strong sense of movement. The ribbons are such a simple detail that contributes a lot to this sense of whimsy and flow.
Some comments I have on specific designs and poses:
Suspenders are so... Trey 💀 THERE'S REALLY NOTHING ELSE FOR ME TO ADD HERE, THEY JUST SUIT HIM
I like it when Trey makes these kind of slightly sus but plausibly deniable faces... He should make more of them...
I can't see the front of Jack's outfit that well, so I don't know if I can fully comment on it??? But I can see his. Like. Physique... coming through... That chest to waist ratio/j
Seeing Jack's tail like that kinda weirds me out. I think that's the first time we've gotten a "full" view of how the tails look coming out of the pants??? So maybe I'll get more used to it with time...
J WORD MY BELOVED dghgqwktvwukdviu1vdutw1513FR7vuofOTVUofvfaafvfyivs.,bk;mobsdb;ibuafetvuqoffSEythTOTqebivfguovqnafCUtuiUIEtt please ignore my bias 🤡 The way his top hat is angled and how there's a dark blue ribbon around him... It vaguely looks like he's trying to pass as Crowley, LOL
I like how his undershirt is frilled and how he has that sash at his waist it reminds me of the genderbent design for my TWST OC! The fact that both he and Floyd have the eel emblem that resembles a heart is also really cute~
Lilis is my favorite design of the R cards!! There's a very good distribution of ruffles throughout the look, and his knotted skirts fit well with his personal flair.
I'm not a huge fan of the style of hat Cater's wearing (sorry to all the Cay-kun stans out there), but I can appreciate his look. His dress appears more militant than Trey's, and his posing is certainly more aggressive--it's nice to see him in this new light.
FHIBBAILAIBASIADIHBLBUDB EVERY TIME I SEE L*ONA NOW I'M GOING TO THINK OF THE ONE REBLOG I SAW THAT SAID "of course leona has his tits out again" BECAUSE THEY'RE RIGHT, HE'S LITERALLY THE GIRLIE THAT DRESSES SLUTTY ON HALLOWEEN AND SOMEHOW NEVER GETS COLD 😭 You go, king... Live your best life!!
Love L*ona-san’s new hairstyle here!! 👀
The way Floyd is posed reminds me of those people that walk around on stilts. I think I much prefer the coloration on Floyd's outfit than on Jade's, but I prefer Floyd's jacket to Jade's. I think Floyd's the best of the SR designs!
Shockingly, Vil's look doesn't stand out to me that much??? I enjoy his sash, but I don't immediately pick up on anything in his illustration that catches my eye.
His pose resembles that of a ballerina, which just makes me think about the time he assigned Epel and Deuce extra (ballet) dance lessons in book 5 ajdbhasivldsadued
Of the SSRs, Ace is definitely my favorite one. He just looks so dramatic soaking up that spotlight and trying to look cool while doing it... Bro's 100% thinking, "heheheheh, I'm SO awesome :))" in his head.
Ace's design also reminds me a lot of Jack Hearts (from Disney Villain Recruiters). Not sure if it was intentional or not, but I'm definitely super into it!
HHNNNNNGNGHGHHGHGNGNGHHGHGHGHGHHHHH I WANNA BITE HIS HEAD OFF AND BULLY HIM SO BAD, I WANNA WIPE THAT SMIRK OF FHIS DUMB FACEe Am I seriously about to revert back to my Brat Loving era for Trappola... Maybe so...
I was pretty much expecting a SSR Ace (because he's a trickster with a brother that works in an amusement park) and Ortho (literally a robot that became a real boy), but Kalim took me by surprise. In hindsight, I guess it makes sense though...? Kalim has a similar immature vibe as the other two (plus I do remember there being this one scene in Aladdin where the Sultan was dressed like a jester that was being maneuvered on puppet strings).
It's great that Kalim gets to be a little out of his usual element and make darker, more mysterious expressions like what we see in his new illustration. I'm not sure if I entirely agree with how he's dressed (the yellow jacket is WAY too bright), but I love his his coattails (???) trail behind him in waves.
OR-KUN MY SON 😭😭😭 As is the case with all of his gears, I adore how the devs creatively adapted clothing into metal parts for Ortho! The half-caplet is easily the best part of the whole look for me (the pattern on it reminds me of stars falling down)--and because Ortho has a smaller stature, the type of hat he's wearing isn't as offputting; it actually looks very cute on him.
ANYWAY, VERY HAPPY THAT ORTHO GETS TO HAVE A HALLOWEEN SSR TO MATCH HIS BROTHER'S HALLOWEEN SSR FROM LAST YEAR... They match!!!
... Is that the fucking cricket on Ortho’s cape... and the goldfish on Kalim’s scarf… AND THE CAT ON ACE’S WAIST… What does this meeeean 🤡
And now for my thoughts on the two new boys!! Honestly?? I don't actually have much to comment on in this regard because I try to reserve my judgment of characters until I've actually seen them in action. I haven't seen Pinocchio either, so I don't have a strong basis for what their personalities would be like based on their original Disney counterpart. I only vaguely understand that Honest John and Gideon trick children into visiting Pleasure Island... That's it, that's the full extent of my knowledge on that pair. I don't have any other expectations going in other than "yeah, these two are going to swindle me".
Gidel looks like a mix of Cheka and Ruggie to me (because of the hair and the eye shape). He seems like he’ll be the other guy’s goon, similar to how Jade and Floyd/Ruggie follow Azul/Leona. Nothing else for me to add, Gidel seems alright… Just a silly lil’ guy!
I have more… mixed thoughts on Ferro. One one hand, he looks like the exact kind of shady bitch I’d love. (You know, the ones that smile and lie and manipulate and drive a knife into your back and—LOOK, HE’S VERY J WORD CORE) On the other hand, I’m beating back the “you like cat/dog boys” allegations from my friends, so 💀 I can’t give in so easily/j
Looks-wise, Ferro’s iteration of the rat tail hair is not as ugly to me as Malleus’s is. (I think it’s because it looks more windswept!) I also really like how he dresses—very dapper 😌 and he can pull off green eyeshadow well!
I’m wondering how they’ll make Ferro different than the other con artists we’ve seen so far *eyes Octavinelle* but I’m keeping my hopes up since the devs did a good job remixing the “I have a dead brother and I feel immense guilt about it” backstory for Rollo (when Idia had a similar one). Looking forward to that~
I’m sure my thoughts will chance once I actually get to see them in the event! ^^ I’ll keep you posted. For now, I’ll keep cautious. (Actually, this fan art basically summarizes my current feelings on the two! I’m Rollo/j)

@flowerakatsuka I actually LOVE getting excuses to talk about this kind of stuff so ill be happy to elaborate!! under the cut in case this gets too long (which it probably will)
so full disclosure, there was a pretty long gap between when proto-kiru (then called yoshimi) was initially Designed and when i started to flesh her out as an actual oc. i actually wasn't into ososan at the time and it was more a challenge of "how would I design an ososan oc Now now that im not 15 anymore", and i didn't pick her up again until february of this year when my BTAS hyperfixation started to fizzle out. the first drafts for keiko (then named hibari, which i changed since it was a bit too similar to one of my long-time ocs hikari) were drawn the same day i picked up yoshimi again. so she was both a day-one character and Not at the same time!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
please ignore the poor lighting on these pictures.
i had a pretty strong Idea for what i wanted from keiko in terms of appearance at the start and a basic concept for her (a bit more bookish + "nerdy" than other ososan girls we've seen thus far), but I had a pretty hard time applying it to the design sensibilities of ososan. her first outfit was basically just uehara-san's outfit, and i struggled with rendering her curlier hair in the ososan style which made it look more goopy and awkward. i also wasn't quite sure what to do with her face yet.
still, i translated what i thought would be my final sketches for her and (then) yoshimi to digital, and from here I started to develop their designs at roughly the same time, sort of balancing them out and trying to make sure they look good together. i was proud of them for maybe 3 days before I decided i hated how they looked.
granted, there were a LOT of reasons for this; for one, I was color picking yanas skin tone for kiru, which didn't work well at ALL because he's way paler than it looks. but more than that I wasn't really referencing features that actual ososan characters had? so they looked more like strange fun house mirror imitations of ososan characters than anything else
Tumblr media
see what i mean? they don't look right at all. but if you look closely you can sort of see me figuring out keikos hair!
a lot of the refining process when it came to getting to where we are now was just... referencing actual ososan characters. trying to make them feel more believable and like they could actually exist alongside the current ensemble. it was honestly more about them looking right in the style than anything else, since i like to stay pretty canon compliant in terms of design when it comes to fandom ocs-- I find that the limitations make me more creative!
for keiko specifically my main inspirations were nyaa and osoko, though i referenced dobusu's hair pretty frequently as well since they have roughly the same hair texture. she was honestly a lot harder than kiru to balance out in this sense, since i had to make sure she didn't look Too generic compared to the other pretty girls in the canon cast (i.e totoko, homura, etc). her more eccentric fashion sense is also an attempt to remedy this because plot twist! she's a weirdo!
ippei however I had down from day one. he's always looked the same and always will. my perfect creation <3

so hey i come up with an other question, the question is where on earth does the grim reaper headquaters exist. well it may not be on earth since such modern buildings would be otherworldly in the 19th century so where do the head quaters lie
Hi!
It’s a tough question... We literally know nothing, because sensei is being so vague about it. And literally nothing about the shinigami makes sense in Black butler.
So... let’s try to guess. Othello’s appearance in chapter 114 would suggest that they live in a separate dimension altogether (unless the translation is messed up? but I don’t think so).
Tumblr media
“The human world is full of organic scents, as always, I see. I think it’s been almost fifty years since I last took a whiff.”
Aside from the obvious, “What the hell happened fifty years ago??” this would also suggest that the shinigami literally don’t live in the human world, that they have a dimension (or a place?) of their own. This would go hand in hand with what we know from before, that a death scythe can cut through dimensions.
I guess that could work? Remember that the shinigami also need to eat and sleep, so I guess this means that they need to actually live somewhere as well. Wherever they go after they get off work. (~.~)
What doesn’t really fit this situation? The whole English branch, German branch issue. William and Grelle having to travel all the way to the German border to get some files from the German reapers. That really doesn’t make sense.
If shinigami had a dimension, or a place of their own (something akin to heaven, idk), then would they need to travel all that way in the human world just to get some files? This doesn’t sit well with me.
Also, using pigeons to call for reinforcements? What sort of freaking, supernatural pigeons? Can pigeons fly through dimensions too??
Tumblr media
So... I guess they could also be somewhere on Earth, and use some of their advanced technology to hide their headquarters, it’s just that it would probably be difficult, considering all the advanced technology they’re using. Not impossible, but difficult.
Also, while I was writing this reply, I thought of a crazy crack theory about this topic... but I would have to think it through a couple of times, to make sure there’s nothing to make it absolutely impossible. I will be working on it, and I can tag you when I publish it, if you want. ^.^ My crack theory would explain a lot of things... but it’s honestly pretty crazy. Oh well.
Okay, so, as a conclusion, their headquarters could be anywhere. We know too little to decide on a place, and sensei is waaaay too vague about it. Impossibly vague. There are little rules, and many things happen at convenience. So, until the time sensei actually sits down to address all this, these are my best guesses. Sorry if I couldn’t be of much help.
Thanks for passing by, though, and I hope you’re having a great day! Stay healthy!

Do you think Tanaka knows that Sebastian is something other than human, aka a demon? And if so, does that mean he is aware of Ciel's contract with him? In his regular (not shrunk) form, he is shown to be very intelligent and observant. Also sorry if this has already been answered in the manga, I'm still trying to fully catch up to the current chapters.
This hasn’t been answered in the manga, but I and others have blogged about it. I don’t think I’ve ever gone too deep into this topic before, so here ya go!
⚠️ long post ⚠️
Personally, I don’t think Tanaka quite knows he’s a demon, no. But he must have some ideas… and a lot of questions.
Tanaka does realize that something is way off about real Ciel. In fact, in ch141, Tanaka is standing right next to real Ciel and Undertaker when this conversation occurs:
Sebastian: I am quite certain you lost your life that night. I would not be here otherwise.
Undertaker: Eureka! Right on the nose, you are… master butler!
Real Ciel: It’s true I died once that day.
Undertaker: What does it matter if he’s alive or dead?
Undertaker then explains that real Ciel’s “reanimated”.
And Tanaka might have overheard part of the previous conversation in ch130, before he had actually stepped out to the stairs and made his presence known to the readers. That goes:
Bard: H-hey. What the hell’s the deal with this guy, Sebastian!?
Real Ciel: Sebastian? I see. So you’re Sebastian. This is the first time we’ve actually met. How dare you do that to me that day.
Sebastian: I too… have never encountered someone like yourself.
So, Tanaka… being the smart guy he really is, regardless of how he’s being portrayed at any given time, has quite possibly gathered enough information to at least get the sense that Sebastian is someone (or something) not quite human.
If he heard the previous conversation, he knows that:
Real Ciel and Sebastian hadn’t actually met before, so real Ciel was already dead, or at least he was near death and no longer conscious. [We are to understand that Sebastian devoured his soul in order to cross over into the human realm, so real Ciel is officially dead by the time Sebastian takes any form before our earl and the cultists.]
However, Sebastian did something to real Ciel’s body. [Again, we know that he devoured real Ciel’s soul, but this could also be about removing the ring from real Ciel’s guts and then starting that fire.]
Sebastian has never encountered such an advanced reanimated corpse before. [Sebastian does go on to question Undertaker about the corpses on the Campania and at Weston, so Tanaka knows the walking and talking corpse he’s serving tea to is not quite like whatever Sebastian dealt with before, when he came back to the manor and was given a “day off”.]
From the conversation he definitely heard, he knows:
Real Ciel died and has been reanimated by Undertaker.
Sebastian would not be “here” if real Ciel had not died.
Tanaka’s main questions that might remain would be about what Sebastian did to real Ciel’s body (but more importantly his soul) the day real Ciel died… and what Sebastian actually means by saying he wouldn’t be here without real Ciel’s death. Would Tanaka realize this has more to do with real Ciel’s soul than his body? That’s the real question we have to ask to figure out whether Tanaka quite gets what’s going down.
Yana-san says in an old tweet that individuals are largely shaped by the people who raise them. Each person has their own dark or evil streak, but whether that becomes a strong part of their personality depends largely on influences by those closest to them in their formative years. She says our earl is greatly influenced by this demon, Sebastian. She also says Vincent loves his family (another tweet, I think) but has a very wide evil streak. Then she says that Vincent was mostly raised by Tanaka, hinting that Tanaka has a dark side we have hardly seen… yet.
Then we have all those demon cultists who are super excited (in ch135) to get their hands on Vincent’s children. The guy selling the kids doesn’t know who they are, otherwise he would have priced them much higher. The buyer recognizes them immediately and, without saying what he knows, says they are worth more than twice that. And then they are recognized by the guy who’s essentially just hosting them at his house before their… um… debut. I’ve written a few times before that the two main cultists (the two men at the sacrificial altar) are — I’m pretty damn sure — the same two guys standing in the background, in ch32, during Baron Kelvin’s memory of trying to talk to Vincent.
Tumblr media
These two mysterious guys:
Tumblr media
The weirdo who procures the kids for the sacrifice is the same guy who shows up at Kelvin’s manor just to tell him he managed to get those kids. Then grossly says he and the others will make up for Kelvin’s inability to attend. 🤢
Ok, so even if those aren’t the same two guys (but I think so!), Vincent was still being hovered around by people who participate in the occult, including ritualistic orgies and sacrifices to demons, trying to summon them. This is the first (and only) sacrifice to work for that cult, but that doesn’t seem to bother most of them, since (as Sebastian says) most demon cults are just about debauchery.
We don’t know how much of this Vincent ever knew about, let alone ever took part in (I hope not!!), but… I suspect he at least knew about some of it. It was his duty as Queen’s Watchdog to know about such things and keep the general public unawares of it. Not even necessarily to put the practices to an end. He probably allowed his fellow Evil Nobles to do as they pleased… as long as it didn’t become a problem for the crown. Or directly involve his own family. Like, he would never have offered up his own children to these creeps. But random waifs? I think he knew what the cultists were doing (generally) and just… turned a blind eye to it. 😔
You know how our earl stops Vanel and his thugs from selling drugs in England for the Italian mafia… but allows Lau to operate his opium den? Lau works as an informant for our earl, so they have a working relationship. It’s kind of like that, to me. When Vincent is watchdog, he allows some things to happen while stopping others. If it’s getting out of hand with polite society (like deaths amongst the peerage) or causing scandal for the queen, he breaks it up. But if it’s a fellow “evil noble” who acts as an informant or a colleague, and it’s only causing problems for the local riffraff on the streets, then “ok”.
I know that makes Vincent look bad, but… come on. He was the previous earl of Phantomhive and Queen’s Watchdog. He joked to his kids about being quite good with knives and saying hogtying is his specialty. He’s an Evil Noble.
All this tangential info about Vincent and the other Evil Nobles is to get to this: If Vincent knew what was going on with his fellow Evil Nobles, in general, so does Tanaka. Tanaka probably already knew that there were demon cultists amongst the visitors who came in and out of Phantomhive Manor.
But does Tanaka realize that’s how real Ciel died and Sebastian came “here”? If he doesn’t realize it yet, I think he might eventually figure it out. If not on his own, Sebastian might eventually reveal the truth.
If Tanaka does already know… that could be just about the only reason why he has stayed behind at Phantomhive Manor, serving the reanimated corpse of the rightful heir… unless he’s just biding his time to return to our earl’s side… with useful information about real Ciel and the other lords of the stars….

Feeling Deeply: Chapter 3
Genre: Fluff so much fluff. Arranged Marriage Fic.
Pairing: Namjoon x OC
Summary: The story of two deeply feeling nerds who find themselves in an arranged marriage. Something neither of them really wanted but are now discovering just how much each needed. Away from their childhoods, their families & their homes, Namjoon & Brishti (the OC) are privileged immigrants who slowly build a home, a family & a true sense of self, together in 1960s London. Please note this is not the typical immigrant experience of that timespace and I’ve taken many-a-leap to write the fluuuufffiness I wanted to write.
A/N: It’s unabashed fluff. And eventual smut but I hope you’re okay with a really slow burn. Like, reaaaally slow. Both our characters are introverts & met as strangers so it’s going to take them a while to get the *ahem* fire going.
Big big big love to @sahmfanficbts, @mintjoonlep, @holdinbacksecrets, @sunshyngal, @xjoonchildx - who give me so much love and encouragement & whose straight up genius writing makes me swooooon!
Characters: Brishti is our OC. She’s a feminist, obviously. She’s Indian, wheatish in colour, curvy & slightly short. Brishti is bengali & her name means ‘Rain’. Her pet name is RimJhim which means the sound of rain. (Namjoon calls her Rim & she calls him Joon) This whole story is a tribute to Forever Rain.
The Namjoon in this fic is what I imagine he would have been had he not followed his dreams at the age of 13. Hopefully, I’m able to do justice to the idea as I write ahead.
Current Chapter: London, late 1963. Brishti & Namjoon meet her colleagues. They listen to the then-rising band The Beatles & take a strong liking to one particular track, if you know what I mean. Again, sorry to spoil but there’s no smut yet. I was not kidding when I said it’s a slooooow burn. Next chapter, it’s happening. There's not much conversation in this chapter, either. Is this almost 3k words of just CONTEXT to the actual smut or just a tease - you tell me!
Also, someone else we love is also introduced in this chapter!
------------------------------------------------------
Previously in Feeling Deeply: Preface Chapter 1 Chapter 2
------------------------------------------------------
Namjoon loved his weekends now. They were like a real couple, Brishti and him… setting the never ending “final touches” in their home, together. They went out to pubs and gardens, libraries and cafes together. And yet, to both their secret dismay, they hadn't moved ahead from that one hug they had shared. They'd played, instead, with words and been more and more intimate in their conversations.
Brishti introduced him to her colleagues - her group among the staff at the British Library. Working there was her pride & these folk were her joy. This was nerve-wracking for Namjoon because he knew how much she loved them. These were her people. Her true tribe. It was almost like he was meeting her parents. Instead of two indian elders (whom he had spoken to on the only international call she had made since their wedding), he found himself faced with a weird band of strangers. An English couple Harry & Kate who had adopted the library instead of a child, an elder woman from Japan, Sayuri-san - whose stories Brishti narrated to Namjoon all the time, a Korean guy (his age!) & Yana, a girl, Brishti’s age who was half English, half Iranian & completely in love with Sam, the black historian from America, as Brishti had reported. As they settled in for their picnic in Hyde Park, Namjoon tried his best to hide his shock when he found Sam was - one, a girl & two, as tall as him. He wondered which attribute threw him off more. Still, he was completely enjoying himself with Brishti’s Unlikely Gang of Weirdos that Will Save The World. That’s what she called them. Sayuri-san agreed - They were all groovy outcasts who had somehow clawed their way into the (apparently) cutthroat world mainstream librarians.
Brishti was glad to see Namjoon really hit it off with the only other Korean she knew, the guy who’d told her about the only place in London that sold black bean noodles, made the right way. Namjoon had almost cried when she had brought them over from work. The two of them spoke as if they had been thick as thieves for years. They talked about Korean poetry and the folk music they had to participate in their childhoods. They spoke about the music archive section of the library, which was heaven for Min Yoongi. The passion in Yoongi’s eyes when he spoke about maybe someday taking a class about world music appreciation was something Namjoon wished to have too, but wasn’t yet ready to admit.
As they were packing up their picnic, the conversation flowed to a new band in the country. Brishti spoke about how every young girl she had met recently just could not stop talking about how groovy The Beatles are. The elders in charge of the music archive brushed them off as a fad but she was insistent to bring it up every meeting - after all, it was teenage girls that had popularised & helped usher in the lyrical music of Vivaldi. Or of Lisztomania - that popularised the soft romantic tones of Liszt which formed the base of the modern love song. Namjoon loved to see her almost up in arms, struggling to find a better word for the admiration that girls had for music and musicians.
“It’s not hysteria… or fanaticism… it- it’s just love.” She had said. No one disagreed. In fact, everyone in her group was persuaded to (at least) give The Beatles a listen over the weekend.
And so, This evening, A Hard Day’s Night played as they arranged books & records at home. Brishti was arranging the books, apparently not having had enough of the task despite working as a full time librarian. Namjoon’s heart ached when he thought about how Brishti loved her job. Thankfully his mind never stayed on that thought for long. Namjoon wished he could pay attention to the song. These days, paying attention to anything but Brishti was almost impossible. The smallest movement in her, the smallest stir intrigued him.
Meanwhile, Brishti had been trying to figure out a way of getting him to touch her &… as silly as that sounded to her rational mind she couldn’t really come out and say it. Night after night when they’d stayed up talking about things or listening to music or just simply reading their respective books, on the floor or by the window with their legs sprawled out in front of each other, she wished he’d touch her… that somehow maybe he’d notice her feet. Strange as it was, she kept thinking about his hands, his fingers tracing the contour of her ankle while she didn’t turn one page of her book for almost an hour.
She understood the problem - both of them were so hyper-aware of each other while pretending not to be that an accident couldn’t really occur. Things had to be done & Brishti thought about how she shouldn’t let tradition dictate who makes the first move. She also kicked herself for not following tradition and stopping him from taking his pillow & blanket away to the couch on their wedding night they were supposed to sleep on the same bed. It made her heart race that she could sleep next to this Korean Greek God-like feminist man. Ufff. She was covered in tense knots everywhere and anytime she even thought of making a move, the fear in her would make her do something else - like unpack all the books into a makeshift bookcase.
They were facing in opposite directions in the same room and Brishti couldn’t help glancing back at Namjoon again and again. The broad expanse of his back made her long to hug him again. They hadn’t touched each other since she let go of the hug. It made her ache, the memory of him moving away from her. Next time they touch, she wouldn’t let go first - of this she was certain.
Brishti looked at him again & smiled, wondering how someone so tall could look so tiny & cute. Namjoon did look surprisingly tiny, poring over the vinyls & neatly arranging them. She smiled thinking about how he had spent some time wondering if the records should be kept chronologically or alphabetically.
Finally, he had announced, “Ofcourse! I have it! The category has to be mood! The...” Brishti loved the small pauses Namjoon took to find the perfect word. “The story of each album and the feeling it brings out! The way he smiled, pleased with his decision created a flutter in her heart.
Looking at him poring over each song in each album trying to discern what the overall feeling of it was, she felt an unbearable urge to tease him, to disturb his cataloguing. She would go over and irritate him… probably tickle his waist or blow in his ears. Or maybe just nuzzle his neck. Brishti wondered if these things would actually irritate Namjoon or perhaps lead to something else... The thought made her blush so fiercely, she turned to face her pile of books. Brishti wished she could walk over, silently demand a space in Namjoon’s lap, he would throw out anything that crowded his lap & she would sit there, being cuddled, enveloped in him & talk about songs… if she could talk, at such a moment that is.
She needed to stop staring at him and yet, she couldn’t help but look... She was a warm-blooded woman after all. And Kim Namjoon was a particularly delicious man. It wasn’t so much that he was tall… plenty of men were tall. (She rolled her eyes thinking how most everyone was taller than her.) Unlike other men, though, Namjoon was not awkward or gangly. He had wide shoulders and a gorgeous neck. She had to actively keep her eyes focussed on something else when she could see the contours of his chest.
In that first week of them living together she wanted him. She felt the heat of being seen by those sharp beautiful eyes that held a deep fire in them. Brishti found herself thinking more and more about how his back looked, how it would feel to be cuddled up against that broad beautiful chest, how it would feel to touch him and to be touched by him. She blushed & laughed to herself when her spontaneous thought was that she’d like to “climb that tree” - whenever Namjoon stood up after being scrunched over his table, writing. That yearning awakened a much fiercer part of Brishti -
Why couldn’t she?! He was her husband. They have to come closer at some point, so what was she waiting for? Without a second thought, her body moved to get up & walk over to him. But as it had happened every time, her mind caught up to her at the very last minute. As Brishti walked over, bent, stretched out... for a pile of books close to him. She was close enough to touch him. And still, she just picked up the books & walked back. Thankfully for Brishti, she had a natural sort of nonchalance. Something Namjoon envied. Brishti did not know what this little stunt of hers did to him. Namjoon, with his fists balled, had to hold himself back in that moment. He had to stop himself from grabbing her; from pulling her into his lap and having his way with her.
The gentle thread-like tug he had felt when he’d first seen Brishti’s photos... it had become a magnetic pull now. Shocking and also somehow inevitable.
It had been more than a month of them living together and Namjoon was wrestling with something. An idea, apparently. It was as though an idea was caught in a vast net that he had laid out across the ocean of his mind. But he was having trouble fishing it out. He understood there was no point forcing it, that the idea, the thought would emerge when it, or when he was ready.
Taking his time, slowly, Namjoon was understanding how he had done the perfect thing for her, accidentally. He was confused too, when his instinct told him to let his bride sleep alone on their marital bed the first night they had moved in this flat. He had reasoned that it was the decent thing to do. Unknowingly, he gave her the time to explore, to own that space; Not crowding her with his body. Not invading her with expectations that, no matter how silent, would be blaringly evident. That was the right thing to do. Then.
Now things felt different. Now, it felt like she had made that space, this whole home hers. But then that’s where his thought-net felt stuck. The thought he wanted to fish out kept pulling at him, telling him she needed something else now. Like Brishti craved something else now. He wondered if she, like him, craved touch. Was that why her body instinctively moved, stretched, inched closer towards him these days. Was this why he’d found his shirt among the blanket instead of the laundry basket the other day?
Namjoon tried to shake off these thoughts again - they felt dangerous, explosive. What was happening? He looked back at his beautiful wife and saw her stretch her arms, then her abdomen, all the way till her hips and then bend forward to touch her toes. She mewled, very softly when she did that. Namjoon felt the familiar flip in his stomach again. This time, thankfully, the thought leapt up within reach too.
Namjoon suddenly understood just how feline Brishti is. Somehow, it was a key he needed. The idea surged through him & made him stand up. Because it wasn’t just an idea, it was an epiphany. Brishti looked at him, her eyes asking, saying, expecting something he didn’t understand fully.
The tingle that ran down his spine told him he was about to.
“You okay?” Brishti asked, concerned & embarrassed because the move she expected hadn’t come. But then again, it was probably too much to think Namjoon had stood up to carry her & throw her on their bed. Wasn’t it?
He was standing awkwardly in the middle of the room looking confused. Namjoon recovered & asked, “Coffee?”
Brishti smiled & nodded. Namjoon rushed to the kitchen. The catching of this thought excited him. Because after living with her for almost a month, he had just now realised it is this attribute - of being feline-ly feminine or femininely feline - that is what makes his body almost overpower any semblance of restraint his mind had imposed.
At first it seemed silly but soon Namjoon realised it isn’t. Not at all. It really clicked in place like the right key, the precise note does - he understood how to BE with her. Be there for the feline creature-like woman that Brishti was revealing herself to be: The way she walked, slowly almost moodily… letting her feet touch and caress each surface her feet felt. She would be walking across the room but would stop just to walk back and forth, softly, in a way that one can’t really call pacing at all. And everytime she touched something she liked, or saw or tasted something she loved, she made these small sounds that would make Namjoon’s heart melt. They were always half-way between a purr and a moan and they made him wonder what pleasure would make her sound like. Namjoon thought about how Brishti is graceful but her grace, like the curves of her beautiful body, aren’t timid; How, it’s a grace that announces itself... sometimes even before she walks in.
It isn’t the only thing that attracted him to her, not by a far cry. Namjoon thought about how he loves her mind, her words. But this felt, somehow, more… more visceral or... wanting to be. Could something formless long to be touched?; To become tangible, touchable? This feeling, in his chest and his gut. This feeling within him, it jumps, flips every time she walks by. These days it seems like Brishti walks by closer and closer each time she passes him. Like she needs to feel the texture of his skin the same way she needs to feel the slight drag of the rug on the soles of her feet. And it just adds more depth to this deep cavernous feeling within him. Instinctual whispers echoing within-
Why does it feel like he needs to touch a fragrance?
Like all he needs to do is reach out?
Like the moment he will reach out, an essence, an aroma will become an experience?
It felt like Brishti was calling out to him silently. That magnetic pull was stronger than ever and it was pulling him, drawing him to her, telling him to reach out, so she can find her way to him. That feeling, the way he was being pulled… that was feline. Like she needed him to reach out so she could make him hers too. And then, then it happened. The first four notes of ‘And I love her’ played and pulled him to her.
In that moment, in their 7th week together, as Brishti was tracing the lines of Namjoon’s back, gawking at him, thinking about this man - this gorgeous, curious, wonderful man - as her husband… a thought so fantastical it would make her squirm in her seat. Just as she was recovering from the thought, releasing the tension in her shoulders. The knots he didn’t know he caused, Namjoon kept the cups of coffee aside and extended his hand.
‘I give her all my love, that’s all I do…” To him, the instant she did it again, - the stretching her arms all the way up. The little moan she made every time she did that, the way her back arched and highlighted all her curves… it drove him, his body, his instinct to reach out.
“And if you saw my love, you’d love her too.”
The stomach flipped, again. This time, though, his instinct acted before his mind knew what he was supposed to do. Thankfully, his mind caught up -
He had just reached out. Reached out for her to claim him. But to one who didn’t know everything that had been going on inside both their hearts, it would look like he was inviting her to dance. Brishti looked at his hand and then at his eyes and suddenly Namjoon understood the reason for this magnetic pull... these lyrics is what she was saying all along -
“A love like ours could never die, as long as I have you near me...”
She took his hand & left no distance between them. Brishti realised there was music playing in the room only after she took Namjoon’s hand. Before this, she could only hear her own heartbeat, sharpened to an intensity never before experienced. Sharpened to a glint in a way that only love can. Love… and unmistakable, undeniable lust. Her heart had been beating with so much longing it had clouded everything else.
Now, in this moment, with his heart so close to hers, she could finally hear the music. This is what she had needed. This is what her heart had been pining for. And she knew. Without the shadow of a doubt she knew... he had heard her.
Brishti moved to the simple guitar strings that were tugging them both. The melody deepened each time the same four notes played. And each time they rooted deeper in the soil of her heart, she moved him too. His hands on her waist, caressing her curves everytime the four notes played. And they played over and over again… Namjoon followed the lyrics and sang along with his beautiful deep dark chocolate voice in her ears, saying -
“And I love her...”,
And his strong arms around her. How could she… Brishti, even if her name didn’t mean the rain, how could she have resisted pouring?
“Bright are the stars that shine, dark is the sky, I know this love of mine will never die...”
This evening was the first time they’d really touched each other. Stood so close to each other. Moved together.

Hi, Sorry for troubling you. My questions are about the luxury liner arc. Don't you think Ciel and Sebby are taking this "act like humans" thing too far? e.g. Ciel is fragile and has asthma, and yet our mighty demon throws him into the frozen water instead of just appearing a boat, warm clothes, and tea. Did he lose his powers after being injured by the death scythe?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Are these all by the same anon? Seems so. Anyway, I wish to address them together, since they all have something in common: To what extent is Sebastian expected to act “human”?
Sebastian’s prior knowledge and forced limitations
Freezing waters. I don’t think Sebastian couldn’t magick anything right then, but I doubt he was thinking too hard about all the ways he could have made things easier for his young master, either. It should go back to the terms in the contract for following orders. Soon after the contract begins, our earl does tell the demon to make himself and his actions seem human. He never says the demon cannot magick things, he just says to make it all look like it’s humanly possible... to outsiders. And no one else (alive) seems to be in the vicinity right then to witness him using his demonic powers. But the terms include him following direct orders, so he doesn’t have to do anything in particular that he isn’t ordered to do. We could say Sebastian doesn’t magick a boat, warm blankets, hot tea, etc. simply because his young master doesn’t tell him to. Also, we get something very interesting (I think so) from this scene: Sebastian takes the temperature of the water into consideration, and that’s significant to show us he’s learned more about human frailty since the contract began. It’s in this same arc that we see Sebastian’s cinematic records, including how he apparently didn’t know that extremely hot bath water would be too hot.
Teaching techniques. Soma gave Sebastian as much honest feedback as he could. But we have to remember he was terrified of Sebastian. Given the push and pull of them testing the limits of their contract, as well as our earl’s dark streak, I doubt our earl ever did anything “lovely” or “cute” when Sebastian messed up. If he had, that really should have been shown. Same goes for some instance where our earl messed up but Sebastian went easy on him; I don’t think it happened. Instead, what we see is our earl and Sebastian each being rather cruel when mistakes are made... but easing up and showing each other pleasantries when the other does something right/shows significant improvement.
About the most “helpful” thing our earl has probably done, regarding Sebastian learning to be a butler (or chef, etc.), is give him detailed feedback on what he considers successful vs unsuccessful. Same goes for Sebastian giving our earl hints and other advice, instead of just punishing him for mistakes. But that would require covering a lot of training, and Yana-san probably wanted to focus on the high drama of the situation. So, we get all the abusive behaviors towards each other... at first. As they each get better at their various tasks, they are kinder to each other and more helpful. There is a bit more guidance in their approaches to teaching. They become more rewarding in their reactions.
I cannot say much regarding learning speed, though. The way it’s shown as a montage, it’s really hard to tell how long it takes either of them to accomplish a particular task. One might expect a demon to learn everything almost immediately, but some things are clearly harder for him to comprehend, like the human sense of taste. This puts him at a disadvantage when he’s trying to make food and tea without (openly) using any magic. Not all humans like the same foods or flavors.
Learning curve. Using magic and doing things “the human way” are so completely different. That first night, for instance, Sebastian magicks all of that food, the dishes, the utensils, etc. based on what he had learned during previous contracts. He’s never had such a young master before, and this kid just survived a month of malnourishment (among other things). This suggests his previous masters were adults who tended to have lavish food preferences... and liked things salty, heavily spiced, and rich/heavy/hearty. The sorts of “full flavored” meals that Chlaus admits he’s grown tired of. The sorts of lavish feasts that Baron Kelvin relishes. Sebastian was told not to magick any more food and drink, and he had to learn about his new young master’s personal food preferences. He had to toss out what little he knew of cookery and start from scratch.
I admit I’m not sure why everything was so perfect/spotless on presentation that first night, but then he later shows up with imperfectly plated dishes and dirty utensils. I have to assume that, again, it’s just different if he’s being told to do things without any semblance of magic. He might have also initially underestimated the standards of a child. Remember that the presentation that first night was based entirely on previous contracts with adult masters. For a little while after that first night, he might have been under the impression he’d be able to get away with sloppy presentation. He was soon corrected on that notion! 😆
We know too little about any previous contract that had him hanging around Schönbrunn Palace. In fact, we don’t even have confirmation that was a contract.... That’s merely our assumption. Even if it’s a good assumption, we still wouldn’t know the master, their wishes, how long the contract took to fulfill, etc. The demon might have used obvious magic to fulfill most of the master’s demands, but it could be that most of this was done in private... and that that master had no issue with this... unlike our earl, who finds it disturbing. At the palace, the demon might not have needed to magick anything. Depends on why he was there. And, if he did need to, he could probably do so when no one was watching.
Regarding the bath water and later the hot tea, I think a lot of it has to do with the demon not being used to this sort of treatment from a master. Again, the demon has never had such a young master before. His previous masters were probably much easier to please... and self-sufficient. 🤔
Thanks for the asks. I hope I answered everything. Sorry it took me so long to get around to them.

Yup, investigation is fascinating, and Yana-san sure made a lot of it while making the first sketches of Kuroshitsuji.
You made a lot too, so your parallels made sense. I'm glad the worst is over. I suggest you ignore those negative comments or, in the worst of cases, block them. It must not be good trying to cope up with so much negativity, and I'm sure you're already coping with lots of other things.
Please don't let things like these discourage you, you work hard for this fandom. :) I'll continue to support your theory until Yana-san herself says it's not true. Let's both keep up the good work, shall we?
(Btw, my favorite post on your blog were about shinigami affording Coco Chanel products. )
(A little late, but oh well…) I've been following your blog for a little, mainly for Mother3 theory, but I stayed because of the many parallels to other stuff and all your thorough investigations on historical characters and such. It wasn't nice of the Anon to call you stuff or for that person to say so much negative things, if you talk so much about it, is because you spent YEARS making it and are excited about it. I don't think you're pushy, and if I ever do, I could simply not read your posts
Thank you 😊 Well, like I replied to another a moment ago, hopefully the worst of it is over.
I know I can talk about it until I’m blue in the face and type about it until my fingers go numb, but, as you said, it’s because I’m excited about it and I pour so much effort into it. It’s managed to withstand the past year and a half without major changes (just a few tweaks here, minor corrections there), and that makes me quite pleased.
Sure, a few people aren’t too pleased when I reblog some post of theirs and add Mother3 commentary to it, but I’m not trying to be rude. If I see a topic that I *can* apply the theory to, I’m probably going to. Sometimes it gets flack. Sometimes it gets new “converts”. Sometimes it gets me absolutely nowhere. I never know unless I try, right? Besides, this is largely how I test the theory out. If I tried to apply it to some major aspect of the manga and it didn’t work? Well, I would possibly have to scrap it or at least completely rework it….
And yeah, I’ve never said that Yana-san is using some video game as her *only* source of reference or inspiration. Neither have I claimed her to be an idea thief or lazy. Quite the opposite, really. Historical people, places, and items… various mythologies and folklore… multicultural references… classic games… classic literature… Victorian flower language… contemporary literature and modern pop references, too. Heck! Without considering Victorian flower language, Mother3 theory probably wouldn’t exist!
Now I’ve started a catalogue of items mentioned or shown, like dishes and such. I’ve also got in the works more info about Sebastian’s demonic nature… and a chart that compares B.B. to not only the Mother series… but also to Harry Potter 😳
Thanks again 😊😊
