Real talk, tho.... I’m absolutely stoked to read this nowing it’s such a direct sequel to Ten, we see Osamu of all people at 93(?) years old reminiscing on Akagi. (My AkaOsa bias bad) once again reminding us that all Akagi ever was. Was just himself.

Knowing Osamu too has just lived a long life since Akagi’s passing, I wonder what he’s up to now? Still playing mahjong obviously. But then we bring it all back to the theory of reincarnation I’d been hearing about. Which makes me particularly interested as to what this Mamiya kid is and how he distinguishes himself from Akagi. Are they truly one and the same? The intro was kept so vague but also gave us an interesting ground to work with. Hope to god we see Ten and Hiroyuki. god please.

I mean that’s just keeping it simple based on what this chapter has given us, as I have not looked far into the articles predating the Eng translation’s release. I just remember seeing “Mamiya” on twitter tl and theories of “reincarnation” like oh. what, ok. BUT we’re here now. I’ll cry over FKMT once more and I’m not ready for it at all.

The June 2019 issue of Takeshobo’s Kindai Mahjong magazine has published a “chapter 0” of a new manga titled Yami Ma no Mamiya (Yami-Mahjong Fighter Mamiya) by Nobuyuki Fukumoto.
