Artists UNITE!!
So... With all these changes going on, I got a few things to say.
The new "Block" feature. I put quotes on that because with the new changes made, it is essentially useless. As it says, any accounts blocked will still be able to view your content, but won't be able to engage with them, such as leaving a comment or retweeting or anything. BUT if you truly want to protect your posts and limit who can see what, you can lock your account. But that means you won't be able to get more engagement or new followers.
This also means that NSFW artists/content creators who've blocked minors from seeing their content? Yeah, those minors are gonna have full access anyways and there us nothing we can do about it except maybe report them.
Any abusers/stalkers who like to keep tabs on your accounts? They can see, regardless of being blocked.
This has got to be a violation and Google Play and Apple App Store should put X on blast for it.
The second thing!!
If any of you have seen the tweet going around, there has been a recent change to the Terms of Service and will be effective come November 15th.
It'll let Twitter use your posts (images, videos, audio) to train their Grok AI. You can opt out, but come Novwmber 15th, you just automatically get opted back in.
I dunno about y'all, BUT I DO NOT CONSENT TO HAVING MY STUFF USED FOR AI PURPOSES!!
And if you feel the same, I have a suggestion:
I think that we, as artists and content creators, should unite together and nuke our Twitter/X accounts. I know it's a lot, especially those who have really put a lot of work into it, but would you really want to have all that hard work just be fed to an AI?
I say any and all content we have on Twitter should immediately be migrated over to other sites.
Bluesky is always nice and have no complaints so far and since these changes Twitter/X made, they've gain a huuuuuge amount of traffic.
Cora is another place I've been hearing about. I have no opinions about it so far, but did make an account. I've heard they're very anti-AI, so that's good!
Pillowfort could still be a go-to possibly. Hell, maybe even here on Tumblr since it's been getting active again!
We've got options! We can give one last fuck you to Elongated Muskrat to show what we think about his new changes! But that choice is ultimately up to you.
If you guys wanna follow me, my BlueSky account is here, but fair warning, I do post NSFW art on there.

I'm tellin' y'all, it's a sabotage
I have been trying to figure out how to talk about the ongoing mistreatment/sabotage/fuckery that has been happening to Jimin this year and there is so much to cover that kept hitting a wall when I tried to write how I feel about it all.
This is one of the main reasons that I decided to create this blog, beyond just wanting to scream into the void about how amazing I think he is. I have been lurking on Twitter and Tumblr for long enough to see how few people have chosen to continually speak out about how Jimin has been treated. This is especially true of "OT7" accounts (and honestly who is even surprised at this point about that), but I've also seen it happen in accounts where I thought they would have cared more about Jimin (this mostly applies to shipping accounts where Jimin is supposed to be half of the duo they are supporting).
All of this has lead me to the point where I can't in good conscience support anyone who doesn't continue to bring these issues up or recognize the blatant unfairness that continues to happen.
In what is just the latest example, Jimin's "Like Crazy" reached the milestone of selling over 1,000,000 units in the U.S. back in August. He was the first K-Soloist to achieve this in 2023 and the fastest to do so.
credit to @PJM_data
This means that he would have met the requirements to go platinum, a great achievement for any artist. Unfortunately, getting certified involves the record label and clearly they haven't made it a priority to certify Jimin's achievement.
This alone is a problem, but the fact that Jungkook has now been certified platinum for "Seven (feat. Latto)" shows that the label clearly knows that this is something important and understands how to make this happen for their artists.
This tweet by @jiminiemelody really sums up my feelings:
Imagine being the first to achieve this impressive milestone 3 months ago and entitled to be the first Korean solo artist to get RIAA platinum certification but the label intentionally neglected and giving the record to their chosen one??? What would so-called armys say? Jimin… pic.twitter.com/fnQrLwIpKr
— JIMIN NOONA🪽 (@jiminiemelody) November 7, 2023
How anyone can not see how this is a problem is beyond me, but then I remember that ARMY/"OT7" never want to acknowledge any real issues that are happening with BTS or within the fandom, especially when it comes to Jimin.
I'm not naive enough to think that anything I say on this blog is going to change anyone's opinion who doesn't already agree with me or magically make Hybe (or whoever it is that has a vendetta against Jimin) stop their bullshit. But I do think it's important to call it out when we see mistreatment happening, regardless of how many people want to ignore it.
I know that Jimin Karma will come back to bite them all in the end, because while I don't have faith in much, I do have faith in him.

Someone pointed out to me that no one has posted screenshots of Joel addressing this on Twitter, so here y'all go. Text ID under the cut.
[Image ID: A series of tweets from Sherlock and Co writer Joel Emery referencing discussion around comments made during the Sherlock & Co Meetup at the end of May. The tweets read:
"Ooooo Sherlock & Co DISCOURSE. It has little to do with 'upsetting traditionalists'. That is on a long list of considerations we go through yes, but no, that's not the sole reason. Here's some things that take higher priority than 'traditionalist views' in our opinion.
Plenty of other things were said at the event before that question that haven't been posted in context, here they are:
Sherlock adaptations is a saturated market. We make ourselves relevant by retelling the original stories - particularly the shorts. That's priority number one. Replicate original form for modern medium.
Then, very little story arc. ACD work is close to anthological. We want people to be able to pick up an adventure in 10 years time and appreciate it for what it is; self-contained. Case opened, investigated, solved, closed. A love story is a massive arc.
We want listeners to feel like they're best friends with Sherlock, Watson & Mariana. The way we do that is by having them build (in a light arc) a loving, powerful friendship between all three of them. A physical relationship between any of them changes that dynamic. (imo)
Everyone involved with panel said with total honesty they were not that familiar with BBC version. Queerbaiting is something I personally discovered existed in like, November 2023? It's not a tactic we are familiar with, let alone something we'd consider deploying.
Adam is right, interpretation matters. Especially in audio or literature. Me personally - I don't think our Sherlock is straight. I do think our John is. I do think Mariana is. Does that matter? Not really. But it's my personal feeling around the characters.
When we talk about 'traditionalists' it's because our goal was to not have an 'angle' on the original work. It was just modernised for audio. That's all. It's not set in distant future, or Watson is a cat or Moriarty is actually the goodie. It's the original stuff but NEW.
BUT - I'm not good at drama. So we went light comedy: playing to our strengths. And I made Sherlock Autistic due to a personal attachment to ASD & interpretation I made (& loved) from original text We hope that doesn't feel like an 'angle'. If it does then I take responsibility
Also hope that doesn't come across as a ran (my phone predicted ramt -_-). We're not ranty people, but we do worry people misinterpret out intentions." /End ID]
*Inhales deeply, and let's out a long fortifying breath* The Sherlock & Co meet-up has happened. There were questions asked. I wasn't there and I won't pass judgement until the video of the event has been released and I can hear the question and answer myself, but word on the street is the following exchange happened:
Fan: "Do the characters have set sexualities?"
Answer: (Paraphrased, note that it was said they were kind with their tone on the answer.) They can't decide something like that so no they do not have set sexualities. They would like to keep it open and they are aware of Johnlock and won't be going down that route. They understand their podcast had broad appeal and do not want to upset traditionalists.
*****
Like I said I'm waiting to see if the highlights reel they'll be releasing contains this exchange and then listening to exact phrasing before I draw any specific conclusions. However, they did explicitly use the ship name Johnlock and multiple sources confirmed its a no go. Also I'm assuming the phrase traditionalists means like old school holmesians or people interested in the adventures, but not the character development. Given the existing content I don't think they mean they're caving to homphobes.

Scrolling through Chattr on her phone, Diantha barely registered anything on the screen, more wanting to keep her hands busy. Briefly, she glanced up, watching Cynthia join her on the couch, while the remaining champions and Alain continued rewatching footage from Steven’s match. She had watched with them once, but had decided against a continuous rewatch.
Wanting to know where you made mistakes, and what calls you could have made that might change the outcome– she was familiar with it, but seeing as it wasn’t her loss, she didn’t need to subject herself to it any further.
More importantly, she needed to prepare herself for her own upcoming battle against Leon, but that would have to wait. Until the stadium had been cleared of spectators they weren’t able to leave.
A grumbling from Steven caught her attention.
“That’s– I shouldn't have done that,” he said, getting a half-agreement of sorts from Leon and Lance.
Looking back to her phone, a chat from someone she didn’t follow showed up on her scroll. Pushed by the algorithm knowing she was in the competition, like many other chats on her timeline.
However, unlike many of the random chats, it actually caught her attention.

Benny The Butcher Responds To Claims His Music Not Getting The Ladies "In the Mood"
There has been a narrative for a while that the lyrics of Benny the Butcher's songs are not for women. Benny has decided to strike back against that image, slightly. On November 16, a woman tweeted out that she did not want to date somebody listening to Benny's songs. Benny actually responded to her. "So u tryna tell me Crowns For Kings don’t get the Ladies in the mood". "Crowns For Kings" was a song from his 2019 extended play "The PlugsI Met". The song was produced by the late DJ Shay and featured Black Thought. https://twitter.com/BennyBsf/status/1593003033377800192 "Crowns For Kings" was not made for feminism. Ironically, this song was chosen out of all of the songs he could have picked. Benny had to pick the one that talks directly to the listener and assumes their skin color and, more importantly, their gender. "You know the feeling, young black male, what y'all dealin'?" Despite that misfortunate line, however, he might be onto something. The lyrics are about taking over from the previous generation and making your own style from it. Feminism is all about making your style from what life gives you while trying to improve said conditions whenever you can. According to Benny the Butcher, having half of that in the song is good enough. Another, more traditional, example of feminism's morphing styles to create something unique is M.I.A's "Bad Girls". She mixes ultra-conservative middle eastern music with street culture and lyrics about sexual empowerment and how she will never stop her way of life. More important than what Benny thinks is what the fans think. The replies said that his music is as good as any other music as the backbone of a relationship. However, the intended audience does not affect the quality of a song. If it is good, then it is good and nothing more needs to be said. Written by Justin Acosta Read the full article

Nitpick N(Oct)ovember #7: Mustard sauce
For @odsalt's RWDE Nitpick November event.
So, this was Blake's weapon "upgrade" as of Volume 7.
Now, I know it's based on kintsugi, where broken pieces of something is reconnected with gold, which is cool symbolism for Blake reassembling her life together after being free from Adam. The idea works, but the execution...
Doesn't mean it still doesn't look... bad, and boring. There's so many ways to utilise kintsugi into this and make it look cool, like having the fracture run all along the blade, or broken in multiple places. This half-measure just makes me think they broke Blake's weapon, but didn't think about using kintsugi until one of their concept artists suggested it after Volume 6 ended.
But my real nitpick lies with this Monty tweet from way back when, before Volume 3.
Now there's some people who say each RWBY "Season" is made up of 3 Volumes, so Monty might be talking about Volume 7-9, but I highly doubt it. Plus Blake's weapon is already "upgraded" now so the point is moot regardless.
But yeah. We were promised a super cool upgrade to Blake's weapon as early as Volume 3. I have little doubt that this was supposed to happen by Adam breaking her weapon in their fight. But instead, we get this mustard sauce shit and now Blake basically just uses Gambol Shroud as a glorified grappling hook.
It's unfortunate, but I'm just sayin', we were totally robbed y'all.
And knowing what we know now about Rooster Teeth and how they deliberately fuck around with their shows and throw out their original creators' ideas for one reason or another, I wouldn't be surprised if Monty had some kind of model, sketch or notes for Blake's weapon lying around somewhere, but our veritable stewards of RWBY either didn't bother to look or turned their noses up at it altogether unless it suited them.
This may seem like a small thing, but it says enough about these people. You'd think when Berserk's author Kentaro Miura died, everyone involved with his manga wouldn't have put it upon themselves to search for every clue that Miura left behind about Berserk, to best and most faithfully continue it?
But all I've seen is RT fucking over literally anyone who cares too much about what they make, because that means all that care will start cutting into their production pipeline and their higher-ups' paychecks. Any chances they have to give the girls upgraded weapons are well and truly wasted by this point; they have never cared about making a faithful RWBY or even at least a better one, and never will unless it helps them gain easy clout with their all-too-eager fanbase.

theory reactions!
Well damn either we get nothing for months or everything in one week. How exiting! Maybe I'll do some commentary on these if they release more? The last one wasn't really a commentary but I had a fun time doing it! Are we getting the second season on Friday, or at least the trailer? Or on Monday (fitting since it's Ludwika's bday, but does Netflix release on Mondays... not sure). Ahhh, my vote is on them releasing S2, I mean Ludwika did say S2 would air at the end of November so... I'll believe her again lol. And they're promoting the show and Ana and Mariana so much atm so, I mean either way they're probably gonna release something important probably on Friday.
Okay so in this clip they're discussing some of the theories the fans have come up with. They also mention how fun they think it is that the fans are so invested. The very first theory is the big dinner scene which, from Ludwika's reaction might be accurate. Then at 02:19 Ludwika mentions the "somos más que socias" part in the script and how she scratched off most words (lol<3), she plays it off kinda like "Yes ofc we're more than partners, we're the mothers of the babies, we're friends, we're a lot of things!!!" and that we should watch the season to find out xD but nothing more. Paulina's reaction is "Where did they get that from??" and, well... I think it's so funny Ludwika posted that and expected nothing lmfao.
Then at 03:43 Ludwika talks about the necklace theory. The necklaces are their personal ones. She says that she got a lot of messages regarding them, but that it is a coincidence that both her and Paulina wore them. She won't say anything regarding the storyline, whether they'll play a part in or not. Paulina only has one thing to say:
So the whole necklace theory apparently is a big coincidence, buuut could they have made it into something after they got aware of it? Ludwika isn't debunking it. Maybe they throw in a small dialogue about them just for the sake of it and to let the audience know that they somehow got them for each other or whatever. Or, they won't be mentioned at all. But how did no one notice them? It fits them and also could fit their storyline (well our storyline really) so well!
The tweet at 05:12 won't accept another ending than Ana and Mariana being super in love and raising the babies together, to which Ludwika says "We'll see what happens, we don't know yet" and Paulina says ¿? and that "a lot of interesting things will happen".
Well, they keep teasing us with Ana and Mariana so much, like can y'all imagine if this is bait? It's impossible... Either way, if marYana won't be real, at least Ludwina is :).

As there is no news for now. I'd like to say something about the jenmish or cockles business. A RPS some people joined recently, mainly as coping mechanism after destiel shenanigans and grieving the finale. As someone said - Hellers that did not die in November but lived long enough to become casual cockles shippers.
For past few days every tweet and like of those two was closely monitored. There was "Eyes like the sky" theory and "steel knives anniversary theory". But in the end of the day those are only that - theories. Personally I think that looking for clues in every post is far-fetched and they have far too rich lives to try communicating something to us (if they really do have some kind of relationship because I acknowledge that the chemistry is really strong, but we are not and NEVER WILL BE a part of that - they can call, face time, text - they are showing us only a small part of their lives, which is good. Deal with that).
But they know what we think - they have social media, and not everyone of you people is exactly subtle. Which brings me to my point. IF they know, and all those coincidences are not coincidental at all, what does it mean?
If that's the case then they might make you lose your shit on purpose. They might enjoy chaos - from interviews and panels we know that they pranked each other all the time. Or maybe it is even some kind of punishment from them for all those unsolicited questions, all those streight up weird things people from fandom did, that personally made me ashamed that I was part of the fandom (yes, the final season chaos dragged me back).
So I see it like that
Either they do have secretive "more profound" bound, then why would they hint at that (unless they want you to make a fuss, so no one'll believe y'all)
There is no relationship, no secret meaning, we just unhinged and starved for content
There is no relationship and they are punishing you for caring (tbt that was what spn writers did in the end)
As you can imagine I think that either there is no deeper meaning, or they'll fuck with your heads as punishment. Either way I don't care. I just like looking at them interacting with each other. Just don't go "fake wive" crazy ya people, don't be creepy, don't break fuckin' fourth wall.
And I beg y'all don't freak out over beer and knives. Or every other tweet. OR POETRY BOOK, JUST PLEASE NO. Because as entertaining as it is, it is also tiring.
Tl/Dr
Hot take : Hidden message from Jensen and Misha (if there's any) is supposed to be fandom's punishment for being fuckall crazy
That's all
Edit: apparently I was writing that for so long that spn is TRENDING AGAIN

Profiles of Pride: June 29th! 🏳️🌈Lil Nas X🏳️🌈
Montero Lamar Hill (born April 9, 1999), known as Lil Nas X, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He rose to prominence with the release of his country rap single "Old Town Road", which first achieved viral popularity on the micro-platform app TikTok in early 2019 before climbing music charts internationally and becoming diamond certified by November of that same year."
Old Town Road" topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart and remained there for nineteen weeks, becoming the longest-running number-one song since the chart debuted in 1958. Several remixes of the song were released, the most popular of which featured country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. Nas X came out as gay while "Old Town Road" was atop the Hot 100, becoming the only artist to do so while having a number-one record. Following the success of "Old Town Road", Nas X released his debut EP, titled 7, which spawned two further singles, with "Panini" peaking at number five on the Hot 100.
Nas X was the most-nominated male artist at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, where he ultimately won awards for Best Music Video and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. "Old Town Road" earned him two MTV Video Music Awards including Song of the Year; the American Music Award for Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Song; and Nas X is the first and only openly LGBTQ artist to win a Country Music Association award. Time named him as one of the 25 most influential people on the Internet in 2019. In addition, he was featured on Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2020.
Nas X has been noted for his public fashions; in July 2019, Vogue noted Nas X as a "master" at giving the cowboy aesthetic a glam look in his appearances and on Instagram. His stylist, Hodo Musa, says he aims for items that are "electric, playful, colorful, and futuristic." For his on-stage look at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards he wore a cowboy motif cherry-red Nudie suit. Wrangler, which is mentioned in the "Old Town Road" lyrics, has consistently sold out of Nas X co-branded fashions.
For the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards Nas X wore several outfits including a head-to-toe couture fuschia Versace suit with a pink harness which took 700 hours to construct.
In July 2020, Lil Nas X modelled in a trailer video for a new skincare line by Rihanna's Fenty Beauty.
In early June 2019, Nas X came out to his sister and father, and he felt "the universe was signaling him to do so" despite his uncertainty whether his fans would stick by him or not. On June 30, 2019, the last day of Pride Month, Nas X came out publicly as gay, tweeting: "some of y'all already know, some of y'all don't care, some of y'all not gone fwm no more. but before this month ends i want y'all to listen closely to c7osure. " The tweet confirmed earlier suspicions when he first indicated this in his track "c7osure". Rolling Stone noted the song "touches on themes such as coming clean, growing up and embracing one's self". The next day he tweeted again, this time highlighting the rainbow-colored building on the cover art of his EP 7, with the caption reading "deadass thought i made it obvious". He was unambiguous in an interview several days later on BBC Breakfast, where he stated that he was gay and understands that his sexuality is not readily accepted in the country or rap music communities. The response to the news was mostly positive, but also garnered a large amount of homophobic backlash on social media, to which Nas X also reacted. The backlash also came from the hip hop community, drawing attention to homophobia in hip hop culture. In January 2020, rapper Pastor Troy made homophobic comments on the outfit Nas X wore during the Grammy Awards, to which Nas X nonchalantly responded: "Damn I look good in that pic on god."

🎟 Wed 11 March 🍆
Only two days and already I got so spoiled, ready for live Louis content every day but guys... it's not happening yet. The next three scheduled shows are off and the ones after that are in serious doubt, this is so sad y'all. With Berlin, Paris, and almost certainly Stockholm cancelled or postponed the next date up is Amsterdam the 19th, which is unlikely to go ahead, then the UK shows. LTHQ has not given an official update, which is drawing criticism, but they are clearly scrambling on setting up for the long haul, adding three (big!) Mexico dates for November. I would guess they're hoping to come back to the European cities on the other end of the scheduled dates as well, and I hope very much they can, both because I want the Louis shows to happen and because it would mean this virus had been contained before the fall season causes a resurgence of infections.
Meanwhile here's Niall though, blithely tweeting that we should buy his tour tickets for next month! Um dude if sales are slow right now I'm thinking it's for a reason? I just don't know if it's the best time for that but you do you I guess. Anyway Late Late Show continues, last night he had a skit and played PALLOM, they seem to have got the HBWW thing back on track with today's lyric ("when did I first know? I always knew" from Black and White) getting posted nice and early, he's doing a giveaway of some of his truly excellent merch, and most exciting of all, the phone number from the NTMY video is active again! There's a song snippet on there!!!
Harry had a slew of pre-recorded interviews air all at once for the down under ticket releases. Apparently his brief flirtation with candor is over and he's back to normal: asked what Cherry is about he hems and haws at great incomprehensible length before finally saying "I try not to kind of explain too much you know." Well that's certainly true but he's happier to talk about (and show off) his Safe Sex shirt. That interviewer, who obviously knew what was up, spotted the tiniest sliver of it and said so that's a Keith Haring shirt huh? Harry's response was only ahh yes it umm says safe sex on it but he did take the opportunity to fully bare the graphic picture of two men jerking each other off for the television viewing audience. Others disagree but to me his face says that he had not planned on that call out or on getting those cartoon dicks out in the interview but he sure did go right ahead and do that!
W magazine posted about the jewellery 'campaign' featuring Zayn (and only Zayn) that was sent to the press yesterday to say "In a way, the real star is Gigi Hadid!" because Zayn, like, has a tattoo that's visible in like one of the pictures that's for her? Lolllllll very subtle my dudes I'm sure wow. As I said before about this 'campaign,' major Hadid shenanigans afoot! I love how Zayn's patented do-nothing-but-still-get-a-headline trick is now being expanded so neither him OR Gigi are doing anything! A true inspiration to anti-work anti-capitalists everywhere!
FIMQ has set her accounts to private after being doxxed. The person responsible for the premeditated attack (please shut the hell up about the made up pretext, it was completely fabricated as was made very clear by the attacker) bragged about getting away with literally attempting to ruin someone's actual real life because they posted things they didn't like about a couple celebrities. There is NO excuse for this! A headcanon disagreement or made up idea of what two rich white men think about what's happening in our online fan communities (hint: they don't really care that much except insofar as they need to for business reasons) is NEVER a justification to bully, harass, or threaten, what the FUCK is wrong with anyone who thinks this is somehow okay? Doxxing is a serious and terrifying abusive violation and threat. We use this as a defense against rapists and Nazis and other aggressors if necessary, we do not doxx people for making fan content you utter fucking monsters. I'm eyeing the grown ass adults out there making excuses for this behavior because they also think that a couple pop stars aren't together or are straight REAL FUCKING HARD TODAY. (To say nothing of the unbelievable homophobia of thinking being wrongly called gay is such a terrible thing but we won't talk about that...)
#annnnyway that girl that said Harry was in the Caribbean was totally full of it#and Sarah and Mitch were in Spain yesterday 😂#Louis Tomlinson#Harry Styles#FIMQ#Zayn#Niall Horan#to the extent that Harry and Louis care about our 'little factions' (as Louis described this so you can see how seriously he takes it)#they'll probably be bummed as hell about this do you have any idea how many fans and how much MONEY FIMQ brings in?#Louis#Niall#Harry#cw doxxing#cw homophobia#cw truly excessive swearing#to be clear i don't actually condemn the Hadid shenanigans i actually find it very entertaining#Zayn's getting something out of it#everyone is. it's just fucking funny#the safe sex shirt#ltwt#covid 19#11 Mar 20#Anwar Hadid#gigi hadid#RBB

It's Thursday, November 5.
Hey y'all,
Uh, whoops! I wrote yesterday’s INDY Daily extremely late on Tuesday evening, and due to a technical error (read: me being really tired), I accidentally scheduled the newsletter to be sent out on the wrong day, only to realize my mistake in the morning and promptly send it out. I’d like to thank my mom for waking me up yesterday morning and informing me of the error. Sorry about that!

It’s All Over But the Tweetin’
What a week the past two days have been. Never in my life did I think I would be glued to the news watching a guy in Atlanta give a press conference explaining the process of counting votes in excruciating detail, yet here we are. Tuesday night was rough. I and a lot of other people hoped that Biden would earn 270 Electoral College votes on Election Night. And when he didn’t, I and a lot of other people were like, "Oh God, this is happening again, we nominated the centrist Democrat instead of Bernie Sanders and now Trump is creaming them." But 2020 is not 2016, and as Tuesday turned into yesterday, things started looking up. First, Fox News became one of the first news outlets to call Arizona for Biden, which, according to the New York Times, sent the Trump campaign into full-on freakout mode. Trump’s team got in touch with Fox News and tried to get them to do a take-backsies on the call. The network refused. Then, Trump tweeted that he’d won, then called a news conference and declared himself the winner. At some point, Jared Kusher called Rupert Murdoch personally to ask him to tell Fox News to issue a retraction, but nothing came of it. It’s 10 p.m. as I write this, and as of now, the Associated Press and McClatchy, the parent company of the Raleigh News & Observer, have both awarded Arizona to Biden, while other news outlets have not yet formally awarded him the state’s 11 Electoral College votes. (While a significant share of the ballots haven’t yet been counted, Biden’s winning by a little over 100,000 votes, and a large portion of outstanding votes are coming from Maricopa County, which favors the former Vice President.) Yesterday, the key battleground states of Wisconsin and Michigan were declared for Biden as well, giving Biden 264 Electoral College votes if we count Arizona — just six shy of the 270 he needed to win. Right now, four states (five if you count Arizona, which again, for the purpose of this analysis, I am giving to Biden) are still up in the air. There’s Nevada (six E.C. votes), which will announce its preliminary results this morning. There’s Georgia (16 E.C. votes), where Trump has a razor-thin lead, with ballots still to be counted from Atlanta and Savannah, and the count could extend all night into the morning. There’s Pennsylvania (20 E.C. votes), and Biden is on track to squeeze out a win there. There are still votes trickling in from North Carolina (11 E.C. votes), as well. Things aren’t looking too hot for Biden in North Carolina, where the official results won’t be in until November 13, but he’s got a damn good shot of winning those other three states. By the time you read this, Biden may very well have won. I hope so. Right now, the Trump campaign is filing a bunch of lawsuits trying to press the pause button on the rest of the results. They’ve asked that the vote count be halted in Michigan and Pennsylvania, quibbled over 53 ballots in one Georgia county, and have indicated that they’ll request a recount in Wisconsin. In all likelihood, these suits, as well as the recount, won’t go anywhere — tactically, they’re the equivalent of a basketball team intentionally fouling opposing players in the final seconds of a game. Because again: All Biden has to do is hang on in literally one state, and he’s the winner. Trump won’t be happy about it, and he’ll probably never actually concede defeat, but he’s also too lazy and dumb to stage a full-on coup — instead, he’ll just go around the country holding high-priced rallies doing random grifts that will allow him to bilk his supporters out of money, which I’m pretty sure is his favorite part of being the president, anyway. Also, Thom Tillis is currently winning the Senate race by a wide enough margin to declare victory, and it’s a wide enough margin that makes me, personally, declare that Cal Cunningham has probably lost. Not exactly a shocker, given that the entire argument for him was "let’s all hold our noses and cast our ballots for him in the hopes that the Democrats can have a Senate majority," but hey, Richard Burr’s shown himself corrupt enough to be in constant danger of being forced to resign from the Senate, and if he makes it to the end of his term in 2022, he isn’t seeking re-election. So, truly, there’s always next season. On this week’s INDY cover, my friend Paul Blest (who also wrote this newsletter before I did) wrote a great essay about what this election season has meant. If you consider yourself progressive in any way, you should be proud of yourself and cautiously optimistic for the future. Paul writes:
The Trump era has seen the birth of an effective roadmap for protesting and pushing back against the increasingly authoritarian nature of the executive branch. When family separation was revealed, the public rallied back against the White House and successfully forced Trump to sign an executive order ending the policy. Activists also successfully rallied to kill the GOP’s legislative attempts to destroy the Affordable Care Act. And all across the country this year, racial justice activists made some of their most successful attempts yet at forcing their cities to confront racism and brutality in policing.
One aspect of the last four years that has been particularly encouraging has been the growth of the left and its willingness to challenge both Democrats and Republicans on the decisions that brought us to this nightmare realm. Democratic mayors, prosecutors, judges, sheriffs, and even members of Congress all over the country have been toppled by a new generation of officials who have promised to fundamentally change the system, if not create a new one altogether.
Besides, the election itself didn’t just bring tepid news. You just have to look a little further down the ballot. The Democrat Ricky Hurtado beat out a Republican incumbent in the 63rd State House district — located largely in Alamance County, where just on Saturday, police pepper-sprayed folks trying to go vote — and became the first Latino Democrat in that particular legislative body. Anjali Boyd will be Durham County’s next Soil and Water District Supervisor. Josh Stein, a rising star of the Democratic Party, will most likely remain our Attorney General. And Marchell Adams-David will be the first woman and first African-American to serve as Raleigh’s City Manager. (The position is not an elected one, but the announcement occurred the day after Election Day, so I’m counting it as an Election Season win.
In light of how things have played out so far, it was probably naive of me to ever think that a Biden victory was going to be easy. We shouldn’t have been surprised that the polls were off, and given that so much of the Democrats’ messaging around this election was that Trump was this unique aberration rather than the natural result of the Republican Party’s years-long slide into antidemocratic authoritarianism, we should have probably expected that Republicans gained seats in the House even as it looks like Trump’s probably going to lose the presidency. And if you were annoyed by all of the internecine Democratic in-fighting that characterized the 2020 primary, just wait until 2024, when the Biden vs. Bernie dynamic plays out again, this time with, like, Andrew Cuomo vs. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. It’s gonna be so much fun, y’all.

25 tweets about glasses to read while your glasses slide down your nose
Glasses wearers face a highly specific set of glasses-related issues. We've got lens fog, we've got rain spots, we've got the general oppressiveness of summer. Plus, we remember when people used to call us four eyes.
So as your own glasses slip down the bridge of your nose, transforming you into an even less authoritative Chuck Schumer, please take comfort in these glasses-related tweets. We need something to get us through those moments when our shirts are not the right fabric to clean our lenses, after all.
Please put your glasses on before you begin reading.

2. Tee Grizzley「Activated」
Lil Yachty、Lil Pump、YFN Lucci
3. SOB x RBE「Gangin」
4. June「Stressin’ for a Blessin'」
5. Evidence「Weather or Not」
6. SiR「November」
7. Chris Dave and the Drumhedz「Chris Dave and the Drumhedz」
Anderson. Paak、Tweet、Phonte Coleman
8. Rich The Kid「The World Is Yours」
9. R+R=Now「Collagically Speaking」
Robert Glasper
10. PRhyme「PRhyme 2」
11. V.A.「Black Panther The Album」
Kendrick Lamar、SOB x RBE、Mozzy

切ないギターが効いた「By a Show of Hands」がお気に入り。
13. Mozzy「Spiritual Conversations」

14. Meshell Ndegeocello「Ventriloquism」
The Force M.D.’s「Tender Love」
15. Camila Cabello「Camila」
16. David Murray Feat. Saul Williams「Blues for Memo」
17. Rhye「Blood」

20. DJ Critical Hype「The Damn. Chronic」
Snoop Dogg「Murder Was The Case」とBig Sean「Control」のKendrick Lamarヴァースを組み合わせた「Control」がハイライト。
21. E-40 & B-Legit「Connected and Respected」
22. Meyhem Lauren「Glass」
