The Guy/Scraps fic nobody wanted but me. Oh well 8)

Guy used to play for the Aces. It was before Kent was drafted, and Guy had been strictly in the closet for his entire Aces career.

Well, for the most part. Until Scraps had joined the team, at least. The two had become friends fast, and Guy had felt himself forming a crush within the first week.

He’d always known he was gay, or he had since he was fourteen, and his first time having sex with anyone – his fourteen year old class mate who had been flirting and asked him out – had left him feeling… nothing.

He’d broken up with her, quietly telling her he was gay, and she had been furious over it, but her brother had rolled his eyes, and told her ‘you shouldn’t have fucked him then, he wouldn’t have known he was gay if you hadn’t’, and Guy was torn on being embarrassed, upset, or relieved, that he had someone in his corner – or at least in his corner enough to keep her from being a vindictive ex.

Several months later, his ex’s parents came around, dropped a baby in his arms, and said it’s either adoption or you, make the decision now.

Guy had chosen to keep the baby, and his parents were disappointed he had sex, and that it was clearly unprotected – he was fourteen, he knew nothing about sex other than his dick when into the vagina, okay!? – but also proud of him for taking responsibility.

He didn’t think he’d get into the NHL – he wasn’t entirely sure how he did, to be honest – but he did, and he was one of the only Aces with a kid, and he knew quickly to not mention he was gay to anyone on the team (though he knew, realistically, that Red would accept him, especially since Red’s daughter was trans, and Guy knew that because Red housed him and his son for two months, until Guy got an apartment of his own, so- Red would accept him, but Guy still wasn’t prepared to risk it).

But then Scraps joined the team, and that stupid crush formed.

And then a month later, Scraps had kissed him.

It’s been years since then, and they were still together, despite the fact Guy was traded to the Falconers across the country.

Video calls every week were done, and phone calls and texts were daily.

Guy’s son suffered the most, since Scraps was his father just as much as Guy was, and Vince was fourteen now, and god, Guy couldn’t imagine his son having a baby.

“Dad, when is Babbo coming to visit?” Vince asked, as he drove to the high school’s rink. Vince had joined the local hockey team for his age group when he was ten, and Guy had made sure his son knew he needed to sign up because he found hockey fun, and not because of some silly idea that he had to be a hockey player because of his parents.

Vince had rolled his eyes, said duh, and that had eased Guy’s fear that his son was putting too many expectations on himself, like Jack had (not that Guy blamed Jack at all for that).

“I don’t know.” Guy sighed softly. “You ready for hockey camp?”

“Yeah!” Vince grinned, and Guy smiled softly.

Yes, the perpetually frowning man did know how to smile – he just usually only smiled at his son, or boyfriend.

Fiance.

God, he couldn’t believe his lover proposed at a fucking falcon show at the fucking zoo, like a fucking nerd.

God, he loved that man.

He dropped Vince off, and spoke to the coach, before he headed for the local ice rink that had been affectionately nickname The Roost by most of Providence.

Walking into the nook, he froze, seeing George showing their new team mate around.

Except it was-

“Leo?” Guy asked, eyes wide, and George and Scraps turned around, and Scraps grinned.

“Surprise?” He offered, and Guy didn’t care that half the team was there, watching, as he understood why Jack had said fuck it on the ice a year ago.

He ran to his lover, and tugged him down into a kiss, and Marty and Thirdy laughed – they’ve known for years now, about Guy being with Scraps – as a few others cried out.

“So how come I didn’t get welcomed like that!?” Snowy joked, when Guy and Scraps pulled apart.

“Gross.” Jack said, and it distracted the team from Guy kissing Scraps, and Scraps laughed softly.

“Well, this is already a different team environment than I’m used to.” He said softly.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“It was a surprise.” Scraps said, smiling. “So… Surprise.”

“You’re a such a fucking nerd.” Guy laughed softly.

And then he tugged him into another a kiss.

There’d be hell to pay from the rest of the team later, for not telling them – especially after Jack came out – but it was worth it.

This was definitely a hell of a surprise.

Everything goes wrong for Freya Ula when she leaves her simple life as a fisherwoman to get engaged overseas. Her ship gets wrecked, she finds out her dad's been hiding secrets from her for her whole life, and, oh, she gets framed for a terrorist attack. Wait, WHAT!? After the city's greatest detective is attacked and disappears before she could consult with him, Frey has to enlist the help of his kid and her would-be fiancée to find out who framed her and clear her name. If only Crow was half as good a detective their dad was supposed to be.

Ghosts of past tragedies haunt the town of Kavo after decades of neglect. Fantastical creatures desiring nothing but fear and destruction hide in invisible tears in reality. Gangs and the police are at constant war with one another, there's a shapeshifting monster running amok, and the mayor's assistant suddenly wants a disabled orphan kicked to the streets. A year ago, Gene was discovered in the forest on the outskirts of town, half dead, amnesiac, and unable to even speak the local language. As he had nowhere to go, he was brought to the orphanage of Kavo for a place to stay. Now Caspar, the assistant of the mayor and the man who funds the orphanage, wants him kicked out. When Gene's left to the cold, cruel streets of Kavo on his own, he has to navigate through a town ravaged by decades of neglect and intrigue. Has the corruption truly been purged from the government? Why are godly forces active in Kavo, a small town in a backwater country? And most importantly--will Gene survive?

❧ Has two "main plots" going on simultaneously; technically three ❧ I periodically give the reader updated "character guides" ❧ like they get more recent plot info added kinda like a red-string board to keep you, the audience, up-to-date with info you might've otherwise missed ❧ I think it's really cool and people seem to enjoy it ❧ I know it seems like a lot but please give it a chance

❧ I've literally plotted out pretty much the entirety of the first and second books, and know most of how book 3 will go, yet there's very little out for the current version of the story ❧ part of that is because I'm paused on the 3rd draft

❧ There's lots of timeskips throughout the first two books, but they're mostly to age up the protagonists! Gene, the MC, starts the series at 7. I promise it's not a kid's story though.

❧ The "secondary MC", Nikolai, is the police chief investigating magical stuff going on at the same time. They tie in with the main story involving Gene, though won't appear to for a long while.

❧ The "golden child" series I love more than SaS; however it's on hiatus because I promised people to work on SaS first and SaS is more popular as a romance-focused story. :/ ❧ I would never be salty about that.

“I’ve just had the most fascinating conversation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, sugar.” The words are pleasant enough, but underneath them is the dangerous grit that launched her into the Presidency in the first place. “He seems to be under the impression that the First Son—my son—drove across the Mexican border this morning.” Alex shrinks down in his seat as though he can escape the glare he can’t even see. “The thing is—” “You know what the most interesting part of the conversation was?” Alex’s jaw snaps shut as she barrels over him. “It wasn’t pretending like I had any idea what he was talking about. Somehow, it wasn’t even the fact that you’re travelling with a boyfriend I’ve never heard about.” “It’s—” “So help me god, Alexander, stop talking.” She sucks in a sharp breath, and Alex knows her fingers are twitching, looking for a cigarette. “The most interesting part was that you’re apparently going to see your grandparents. Now, I know they’re not my in-laws anymore, but I talk to your dad enough that I’m pretty sure I’d know if they’d left San Diego.” Alex chews the inside of his lip and says nothing. “Alex.” Her breath tunnels down the phone, and the way it shakes has guilt clawing up his throat. “What are you doing? As if I don’t have enough going on, with June—” She stutters to a stop, and Alex knows she’s at least halfway there already, the pieces all slotting into place. She might not know the how, yet, but he’s pretty sure she’s figured out the why.

I feel like I should give a little context to these comics and where they come from lol. I wasn't very clear about the backstory in my original post. I do agree, when I found these, I thought they were super important, too, particularly because I don't think a lot of the fandom knows about these books lol.

The Danganronpa 4コマ KINGS anthology series was published in the early 2010's featuring a bunch of different artists. The series is 4 volumes long and published by Spike Chunsoft, meaning, while these aren't necessarily canon, they ARE official :)

There is another series of anthologies in relation to both the first and second games, but I don't have those.

The first two volumes of this series is relatively well documented. There are sites where English translations have already been added to all of the comics in them (I'm pretty sure), as well as some screenshots popping up on places like Pinterest.

The third and fourth installments, however, are really poorly archived. The third has some content from it floating around, but it's hard to come by. The fourth had almost no information on it no matter where I searched.

I say this because a while ago I found the ONLY pictures of the Mastermind!Taka comic on this really old Tumblr blog from 2014 and REALLY wanted to figure out what it was about. (Didn't help that I couldn't read some of the bubbles in those photos.) First I searched for an English translation (there wasn't (so I'm working on one hehe)), then I tried to find which book it was even from, and NOTHING!

These books, since they were in circulation around 2014-ish, have stopped being printed, so copies of them are very hard to come by. Luckily, I was able to get my copies from a kind stranger on Ebay :)

Buggy led you through the Big Top on a grand tour of his ship, his home. You started on deck, and could hardly keep up as Buggy pointed at everything in sight telling you their names and functions. You startled when he turned and jumped in front of you, emphasizing his words with gloved hands.

“Don’t worry sweetness, I’ll set you up with a crewmate for more lessons before the pop quiz!” 

You laughed, but realized he was serious. He spun on his heel and led you below deck, skipping now and then.  

Every crewmate you passed greeted the captain, and most greeted you as well. You’d never been on a boat before, and the gentle waves felt a lot stranger while walking. You caught your hands along the hallway walls a few times, and at one point you lurched straight into Buggy’s back. 

His head lifted from his shoulders and turned around to wink down at you. 

“You’ll get your sea legs soon, dollface.”

Buggy pointed out all the main rooms of the ship, stating names you didn’t recognize. Buggy was still moving so quickly that you barely had time to pop your head inside to figure out what they were. You definitely wouldn’t have called the bathroom ‘the head,’ so you were glad you checked. 

Eventually you found your way to a surprisingly large room filled with weapons, circus props, training dummies, and a small group of freaks practicing their skills. You watched in awe as a thin man in black and white striped tight pants and a loose orange tank top threw cards at a row of potatoes set up on a table. The muscles in his arm tightened under his dark skin with every flick of his wrist. You were impressed that the locs framing his face hardly seemed to move when his arm whipped the cards. Each potato had a card sunk at least halfway through it, and the last was sliced clean in half. 

All the pirates greeted the Captain and stopped their practice. 

“Nice throw Decker, but make sure you slice them all next time. And get them to the galley when you’re done, we can’t waste a good potato!”

The card thrower nodded with a “yes, captain,” and pulled a card out of nowhere to play with it in his hands. 

Buggy’s voice boomed a bit louder than necessary with how close you all were, and he paced slowly as if giving a lesson. 

Gesturing to you, Buggy addressed the small group, his eyes scanning them as if ensuring they were focused. 

“As you all witnessed last night, Y/N is a natural talent and we’re lucky to have her. But she’s new to this flashy world and we’ve got to get her up to speed before our big gig comin’ up. Patricia, you’ll grab Y/N in the mornings and get her trained up with ships functions and duties.”

Buggy had pointed toward a stunning woman with a tight bun of sleek black hair on her head, and a silver leotard with sparkling green tights. She was poised, perfectly balanced on a medium sized red ball as she affirmed to the captain. She flicked her gorgeous brown, monolid eyes your way with a small smile. 

“Stera, after lunch, you’ll teach our new freak how to fight, bring out her claws.”

Your eyes followed Buggy’s hand, suddenly gripping four daggers between his fingers for emphasis. You made eye contact with a short pirate with light blonde shoulder length hair, shaved on one side. Their leather outfit matched well with the black greasepaint smeared around their mouth, nose, and eyes like a melted skeleton. They acknowledged the order and bared their teeth at you, laughing and smiling when you didn’t flinch. 

“And after dinner, she’ll be practicing her throws with me. I expect this room to be empty so that the newbie can focus. We need her sharp as a blade as soon as possible.”

Buggy had turned to face you at those words and you couldn’t help but grin at him. 

“Dismissed, get your asses back to work!”

His voice had raised too loud again, and his hands flew above the group with a few snaps to rush them, all while he kept his eyes on you. 

Buggy jerked his head toward the door, and you walked backwards for a moment to wave at your crewmates. Most had already looked away to resume their training, but Stera gave you a chilling smile and the creepiest wave you’d ever received. You held in a shudder and followed your captain out the door to resume the fast paced tour. You couldn’t help but chew your lip with a small smile at the thought of how cute Buggy was all filled with excitement, and you wondered how often he acts this way. 

Finally reaching an area of the ship with more spacious hallways and ornate doors, Buggy stopped next to one and leaned against the wall.

“This here’s yours, love. Two doors down is Cabaji. Mohji’s right there, but he usually sleeps with Richie, and I didn’t want him chewing on this nice wood.”

Buggy patted the door with one hand before turning around and pointing to a set of double doors. 

“That’s me. I’ve got a private bathing room that you’re welcome to use instead of the communal one downstairs.”

Shaking your head, your brain worked too slowly for a moment.

“Sh-shouldn’t I be down with the rest of the crew? I don’t, uh, want them to be upset about special treatment.”

Buggy turned on you with a glare that stopped your breath.

“This is MY ship, and those IDIOTS better respect my decisions unless they want to be fed to Richie!” 

You watched the veins on Buggy’s neck recede as he slowed his breathing and stepped toward you with a saccharine smile. 

“Don’t worry, dollface. You proved yourself to the crew last night and again this morning. You’re a star, and I’m going to keep you close so you can shine for me.”

Part of you told you to be scared of him. But that part of you was shrinking more every moment you spent by his side. You realized you wanted to be as close to him as possible. You sighed contentedly and walked toward the door to your room. 

“Thank you Captain, will you show me my quarters?”

Buggy’s almost manic energy returned and he bowed low as he let you through the door. 

Dark wood walls and furniture, the curtains, cushions, and blankets all a mix of deep blues, maroons, and golds, with some chaotic accents of circus stripes and polka dots of various colors. A comfy looking bed laden with pillows, a heavy desk by the window, a wardrobe taller and you, and a small vanity all overwhelmed you. You never would have imagined such luxury for yourself, let alone on a pirate’s ship. 

“Well,” Buggy asked with impatience in his voice. He leaned his head down toward your face with his eyebrows raised and his arms waving toward the room. 

“It’s beautiful, thank you so much,” you breathed out, still stunned. “Are you sure this is okay?”

His eyes flashed briefly but he breathed before nodding.

“I told you, sweetheart, I’m the captain. What I say goes, and if anyone gives you trouble, we’ll use ‘em for target practice, alright?”

“Alright, Captain.”

Buggy pointed out a door to a small room with a private toilet and sink, but no tub or shower. He motioned you back to the hallway, his hands opening the door and guiding you out as he followed close behind. He led you toward his room and you felt your heart rate coursing through you. With another exaggerated bow, Buggy led you through his double doors and into his quarters.

Buggy’s room was an assault on the senses. Where yours had at least a semblance of a color theme, Buggy’s room was as if a kaleidoscope had been turned into décor. 

It smelled like Buggy, that citrus, sea salt, and sandalwood you remembered from his blankets last night. You closed your eyes and shivered from the scent before returning to make sense of everything else. His quarters weren’t filthy, everything looked clean. Except that there seemed to be a hopefully organized chaos of items strewn about. A couple trunks of clothes and treasure spilling over, the vanity from the tent was set up in front of one of the large windows, the fading sunlight glinting off the glitter and greasepaint still smeared across, almost artistically. His desk was massive and covered in maps and papers, some tacked up onto the wall. You could see a large doodle of the Marine’s symbol with a bomb and explosion surrounding it. 

Buggy’s bed looked so comfortable with its mass of pillows, and you could see a few daggers on the nightstand and the floor near it, as well as a large chunk of thick wood nailed above the bed. The wood was covered in holes and there was still a dagger stuck deep in it above the mattress, as if Buggy tossed it into the air in his sleep. You noticed that there had been some other doodles on that board, but they were hard to make out under the evidence of many sunken daggers.

Buggy smiled at you expectantly.

“Your quarters are amazing, do you throw knives in bed?”

Buggy laughed and ran to pick some up off the floor. 

“It’s not like they can hurt me when they fall. I would probably have to move my target board if anyone ever joined me in bed."

Buggy’s eyes widened at his words before he choked out a loud cough and pointed you toward another door. 

“Here’s the bathing room,” he declared, his voice once again almost making you jolt with its sudden volume shift.

You followed Buggy through the door and smelled the citrus and sandalwood scent of the soap within. He showed you the towels, and pointed to a blue robe for you to use. 

“Anytime you want to have a soak, just knock. I’ll leave and go on deck or grab some grub or something.”

“Why are you being so kind to me,” you asked, your words slipping out before you could stop them. Your breath hitched, afraid that questioning him again would piss him off.

Buggy leaned close to your face, and tilted his head again, as if trying to keep his red nose from getting too close to you. 

“Because you’re my freak, of course.”

His words were slow and you heard the slightest emphasis on the word ‘my.’

“Is that alright with you?”

You bit the inside of your lip and nodded, the intensity in his eyes bringing heat up your cheeks. 

“Good, it’d better be!”

Buggy’s infectious smile and laughter poured out of him again, and you let it move over you, washing away the shudder at the potential threat in those words. 

He’s a pirate. Of course his behaviors are intense, this life takes power and chaos.

You felt your thoughts easing you, reminding you of how amazing all of this was, how grateful you are to be here with him. So what if he’s a little scary, he’s a fucking pirate! And now I am too.

“Let’s hit the galley before bed, you’ve got a big day tomorrow, little star!”

You beamed up at Buggy as he gripped your chin lightly with his thumb and forefinger. 

The galley was less crowded than the party last night, it looked as if the crew were eating in shifts. You made your way to grab some food while Buggy joined Cabaji at the elevated table and you saw someone rush food over to him. You knew that you were already getting special treatment, so you found an empty table and sat amongst the crew. Patricia joined you with a smile, a silky pink robe and black slip replacing her silver leotard.

“Are you ready for tomorrow, Y/N?”

You grinned nervously back at her and swallowed your bite.

“I don’t think I have any idea of what to expect, but I’m excited,” you answered honestly, with a nervous laugh. 

“Don’t worry, I’ll get you up to speed in no time,” her confident smile was reassuring.

“Where did the captain set you up for quarters?”

You couldn’t stop your slight grimace as you told her where to find you in the morning. You held your breath at her raised brows and explained. 

“I tried to convince him to put me with everyone, but he said it was his orders.”

You felt embarrassment course through you as you watched her shake her head with a small laugh. 

“Well, there’s no arguing with that. We definitely want to get you trained up, there will be some in the crew that’ll want to prove themselves against you.”

You followed Patricia’s eyes to Buggy’s table in the corner to your right. You’d made a point of not looking at him while eating with the crew, but heat rushed through your chest as you caught him staring at you. He had the smallest of smiles along the edge of his lips and you gave a shy smile back. Before you turned away, you saw that Cabaji had been leaning in to speak to Buggy, but his serious gaze flashed toward you. 

Patricia’s words felt heavier now as you met her eyes with a nod.

“Thank you.”

You ate slowly after the pressure to prove yourself hitched up, but luckily Patricia stuck around for a bit. 

You couldn’t help but like her instantly. Her lilting voice and laughter were lovely, making you want to continue hearing it. 

“Get yourself to bed now, I will get you up by force tomorrow if I need to.”

Patricia winked and grabbed your dishes for you.

As you made your way out of the galley, you were disappointed to see Buggy’s table empty. 

You have a pretty good memory and sense of directions, but you got turned around a bit trying to get to your quarters. You ended up in another large hallway with some strange smells. You were about to turn around when you heard a low roar.

Smiling, you crept quietly toward the large swinging doors the sound had come from. You were to the side of the door and about to push it in to take a look, but a hushed voice made you pause.

“Did you see the way he stares at her?”

“So what, Cabaji? It’ll be good for the captain to have a little company.”

Your pulse shot up and you pressed yourself against the wall by the door. You told yourself to leave, but you couldn’t walk away from their words.

“I’m leaving for the scouting mission tomorrow. I don’t want to come back to some no talent bitch calling the shots because Buggy’s gone soft.”

“You’re just jealous.”

“Shut the fuck up, Mohji! Don’t you get it, he’s distracted. I don’t want our captain to get us all killed because he can’t keep his eyes off some useless girl!”

Richie let out a menacing growl at Cabaji’s raised voice, and you heard Mohji make cooing sounds before replying.

“Don’t be a dick, man. It’s not her fault Buggy’s paying more attention to her than you. Just focus on being a badass, and don’t get killed at the marine base.”

You heard Cabaji huff and were about to leave your spot against the wall. 

The doors swung open almost violently, but luckily it just covered your presence. Cabaji sped past on his unicycle as you held your breath. 

The sounds of Mohji speaking to the lion shook you out of it. You walked in the direction the acrobat had sped down, hoping it would lead to your room.

It probably would have taken less time if you’d asked one of your crewmates along the way, but you weren’t quite ready to tell everyone where you were sleeping, if they didn’t already know. 

When you found your hallway, you tried not to exist as you walked past Cabaji’s room, and you smiled toward Buggy’s as you stepped into yours.

A lamp had been left on by the bed and you saw a pile of folded clothes with a note.

'I scrounged these up for you for now, I hope you like them. If you’d like a bath tonight, just knock. -B' 

Buggy’s handwriting was surprisingly pretty, and you stroked the words with your thumb.

You flipped through the clothes, smiling to yourself. You tried to convince yourself to go to bed, but you couldn’t. You picked out some nightclothes and carried them into the hallway, stepping quietly. 

Bouncing on your tiptoes with flutters in your chest, you knocked on the Captain’s door.

“COME IN!”

Laughing at his near scream of a command, you cracked one of the doors and leaned your head in.

Buggy jumped off the bed, throwing one last dagger at the board, which promptly fell to the blankets.

“Hey sweets, let me get the bath going for you.”

He moved quickly to the door, stubbing his toe along the way with a “gah, fuck!”

You pursed your lips not to giggle, and followed him.

“You really don’t have to do this, Captain, I’ll be fine.”

“I’m already on my knees, darling,” he winked as he knelt to start the tub. You leaned against the doorframe and enjoyed how Buggy fussed over making the perfect bath for you, even lighting a few candles.

When it was ready, Buggy stood before you, sweat glistening on his skin from the steam. You stared at it, wondering how he looks without his now slightly faded makeup.

His eyes squinted in that cute grin of his and you beamed back. He moved to leave, but kept his eyes on you as he walked away.

“Enjoy your bath, sweets, I’ll come back to the room in about an hour.”

“You don’t have to go.”

Buggy stopped with a soft smile. 

“It’s alright, Y/N, I want you to feel safe here. I don’t mind.”

He paused mid breath as your hand reached out to grasp his. He’d removed his gloves while filling the bath and you felt tingling chills crawl up your skin at the feeling of his warm fingers in yours. 

“I feel safe with you.”

You were afraid that you’d gone too far by the look on Buggy’s face. He seemed shocked for a moment, almost hurt. You started to pull your hand away but he pulled it to his lips, leaving a gentle kiss along your knuckles.

“Enjoy your bath, sweetheart. I’ll be here.”

Completely missed the mark.

Like, I have this silly HC, where someone in Gothom has the bright idea that Dick Grayson, adopted son of the richest man in Gothom, is secretly a stripper. Dick fits all the criteria coincidentally and if he lets anything from his superhero life slip, it's not really helping his case and he just has to go with it in defeat. Now he and Bruce have to collectively suffer in the public misunderstanding things, as Bruce has the popular HC of him and Batman being an item hahaha

Oh for sure! So many people get so close but never get it quite right.

Like half of Gotham think Bruce and Batman are together and the other half think they're bitter exes and that's why Batman never saves him when he's held hostage.

I can totally see people thinking Dick is a stripper. He's got the body for it and the athletic ability. The fact that he moved to Bludhaven almost exactly when Nightwing came on the scene is a coincidence.

What about the others? I like the one where Tim is a public enough figure that people think he's in a love triangle because he keeps flirting both in and out of uniform. It's probably similar to the Superman/Lois/Clark love triangle rumors. (Extra points if you ship him with another hero and it becomes rumors of a messy love square)

Duke gets called out as being the Signal because he used his powers out of uniform and just deadpans "are you saying that just because I'm black?" And the the rumor gets shut down instantly.

Cass is an amazing dancer and just jumped straight to the top of her class in ballet? Yeah Bruce is secretly one of those crazy dance moms and she's done nothing but dance since she was like 4. (No it doesn't matter that Bruce didn't adopt her until she was older)

Damian likes swords? Yeah because he's twelve and likes anime. All the kids like cool swords and think they're good at using them. (The fact that he IS twelve and DOES secretly like anime makes this hurt him so much more)

Lucien Vanserra. Since Book 1.

Who's your least favourite character?

Ianthe. I am currently re-reading ACOWAR and god she is the worst. Especially for all she did to Feyre and my baby Lucien. I also hate that she was a missed opportunity for a complex, female villain, perhaps with undertones of religious motivations....instead of another female sexual predator villain in Sarah's books. Sigh.

Helion Spell-Cleaver. I am very into his tragic love story with the Lady of Autumn. It gives me Greek mythology vibes. My head canon is that Helion told her to reject the bond, to protect her from the wrath of Beron, and to protect her sons. He begged and begged her to do it, because it was better for him to suffer than for her to lose her life.

Favourite MINOR character?

Jurian, hands down. He's got that tortured asshole soul vibe going on. A human who is not remotely phased by magic or Fae after all the shit he's been through. People underestimate how brilliant and wise he probably is....because he's an ass lmao. And I love that about him.

Favourite court and why?

Autumn Court. The political intrigue. The fall vibes. The amazing forests. It feels very faerie and I want to see more of that lore in the coming books.

Court of Mountains --> Picture this. Influences from the Incan Empire. Think of buildings and temples built into the mountains, like Machu Picchu. I picked this because I've visited it before/share roots with it and it felt magical - the lore, the beauty, the mountains .... it would make for an incredible kind of court we haven't seen before. I am envisioning the people have magic that controls the Earth (like Earthbenders!) and it helps them live and survive in the difficult landscapes, away from the other courts. IDK I made this all up now.

What relationship would you have wanted to see more of in the books?

I need an Elain and Eris friendship arc and I need it now.

That the Elucien book is next, then a novella, and then a Gwynriel book. Ha.

That although Lucien never told Papa Archeron directly, the man figured it out by himself that Lucien was the one for Elain. Maybe he didn't know the word mate but he said - wait a second. They're going to be together. This fae is a little too interested in her, but I like him. And he gives him his blessing before he dies. I think he's the one who told Lucien that Elain is worth waiting for...and to take her to the tulip fields one day. YES I WROTE A WHOLE ASS FIC FOR THIS

honestly, before the series started airing i kind of just assumed that dunk and lookjun would be paired up for this?? but then the series started airing and ivy was canonically gay for star and the friendship dynamic between ivy and white reminded me a lot of my own friendships with guys which are all very much and decidedly so platonic. so when i saw ivy and white together at first i had this moment of not wanting them to get together bc i was just so excited for some nice, platonic f/m friendship representation with no romantic feelings involved whatsoever, just like my own f/m friendships!!

but then ep6 happened and i just. i can't help but ship it anyway bc first of all, dunk somehow manages to have chemistry with every single one of his co-stars, so white could get with pretty much any of his friends and i would gladly thank the writers dfjkkjdfkjdf

and second of all, the more i think about it ivy and white actually make so much sense???? bc they've been constantly here for each other from the start. they bicker, and pretend to be annoyed by each other and that they can't stand each other but then when things get serious, they are immediately here for each other no questions asked and support each other. like when star turned down white in public, ivy went after white rather than star, comforted white when she could have easily checked on her bff and crush instead. or when ivy was going through some heartbreak bc of star, white was also here for her, listened to her, walked her home to make sure she was ok and offered her a shoulder to cry on when she wasn't. these two have been a team from the start and it only makes sense for them to end the series as an even more established team

and as we get further into the second half of the show i can't wait to watch the characters themselves to figure that out as well

MASTER LIST: One Fic for Each Fandom [A-I]

i've been working on this for months now, y'all, i'm so tired. Dx

many, soooo many years ago, i came up with the idea of recommending one fic, not necessarily the best or biggest or most popular fic, but definitely my ultimate favorite fic for every fandom i was in at the time or had been in at some point up to then. there are some fics i love so much that i go back to them periodically, maybe every couple of years, even if i'm not active in that fandom anymore. so i thought having a list of them somewhere i could easily find them was a pretty good idea.

narrator: she forgot where to "easily" find the list.

but i still liked the idea a lot, and i told myself when i found the list again, i would update it with fics for all the fandoms i've joined/read for since then. well, a couple of days as of the first drafting of this post, i finally found my original list on my old livejournal (christ, i'm old) and decided i would start on that update, but to post on my tumblr blog instead.

so here it is. they're not all romance, though most of these will include one or more of my favorite ships for their respective fandom (which you can find at my ships archive), even if it's just in the background. some of the fics are the same as i had in my original list, but some of them are not, simply because i've found fics i love even more since then. needless to say, most of those that were 'ported from my original list are quite old or written before canon was finished (the list is from 2006… please refrain from commenting if you weren't born back then, lol. i'm acutely aware that my early fandom life is basically ancient history to most of you). even some from more recent fandoms might be pretty old or non-canon-compliant, simply because i've been collecting fandoms since time immemorial. some might contain elements that would be considered problematic in this day and age. some might be unfinished. they're all special to me in some way.

some fandoms seem to have slipped through the cracks in the transition between FFN (where favorites and alerts are very organized but i always forgot to use them, and there's no read history) and AO3 (where subscriptions and history are unreliable and impossible to search through, and there's no way to see which fics you've left kudos on)-- srsly, how hard is it to just save everything in this age of big data? smdh. some of the links might not work, as you might imagine-- it'll take me some time to find new links, or to figure out if the fic is still even on the internet. if you've heard of these fics and know where they can be currently found, please let me know! because of that reason, i haven't listed ratings for every single one, though i've tried to add that in where i can find it. still, i hope this is helpful for someone, and i'm going to keep it pinned on my blog so i NEVER, EVER forget where it is again (and can regularly update it as i am sucked into more fandoms).

Favorite thing about them: His big dumb hero's heart. His compassion. How much he loves his home, his people, his family, his beloved, his friends — how much he loves.

Least favorite thing about them: //stares pointedly at his inability to form meaningful connections because Thor is Not Allowed to be Not Okay (even when it's obvious and people he loves asks him to share his heart).

Three things I have in common with them:

I am, myself, an elder sibling!! And one whose younger brother was/is someone I am incredibly close to, care a great deal about — that entire drama is very close to home for me.

Random Headcanon: One time I considered the thought of little!Thor being exceptionally friendly with his kitchen staff servants, and because he's a strong little guy, he'd pick up giant barrels 3x his size and lug them around just because he wants to be helpful. And he'd do it with or without the prize of getting snuck goodies (though he would definitely prefer the goodies, were it up to him.)

Unpopular Opinion: I'm not sure if this counts as an unpopular opinion exactly, but I do always find it interesting that in the Frozen Vault Scene in Thor (2011), what the cinematography and editors show us that sets Thor off is seeing the dead einherjar...

And I'd actually say that this triggers his anger more than the interruption of his crowning ceremony.

So with that in mind, I'm not actually sure that (most of) his rage regarding the situation was about the coronation at all, in that case. At least, not in comparison to the fear he states (semi-subtextually) about being strong enough to maintain Asgard's borders were. ("They know you are vulnerable.")

He actually seems to only be upset about the coronation AFTER Odin makes it very clear he's decided to change his mind and rescind the crown from him entirely ... which only further fuels the point that Thor isn't ready. (aka: the one thing Thor is keenly aware of, scared of, and is scared the Frost Giants also know.) Which, you know, he's not at that point in time, but I don't see a lot of people talk about the details of that particular inciting incident all that much.

(honestly the ENTIRE text and subtext of the frozen vault scene absolutely FASCINATES ME so maybe I'll do a deep dive on it one day idk)

Loki Episode 4 Coherent Thoughts

Spoilers for Episode 4 and before, obviously.

Christ, I have come up with ANOTHER fic idea that has to be posted before Thursday if I want it to be relevant for a little bit, and boy howdy, it is not short.

I think Sylvie got to Mobius. I'm gonna time it next time I watch it (and report back here when I do), but I'm pretty sure even if Loki and Sylvie's conversation happens at the same time as the scene in OB's workroom that immediately follows, there was still enough time for Mobius to look into his memories and get hot cocoa before. Even if he just finds files somewhere and tucks them away to look at later. [EDIT: YES. Sylvie and Loki's conversation in "pie land" takes about 4 minutes and 31 seconds. If we assume the hot cocoa machine takes 1 minute roughly, the total time he's with OB, Casey, and Timely plus that minute is 2 minutes and 42 seconds, leaving 1 minute and 49 seconds to do something that helps him figure out his memories. What that something is in that time, I don't know, but that's still almost 2 minutes of time unaccounted for.]

Listen, I know it's episode 4 so it's too early to be in pain. I know it. But goddamn I still feel bereft. That look on Loki's face that they left us with HURT MY SOUL. (And also I was there (kind of) for Supernatural at the very end and shit went down two episodes before the finale and DID NOT GET ADEQUATELY RESOLVED and I'm not gonna say I was traumatized because that's dramatic, these are tv shows, but I'm a milder version of traumatized. I've been burned by bad endings that started two episodes before the end before.) And I'm just really upset about seeing Loki in pain in general (don't get me wrong, DO IT, it gives me writing ideas and hurts really good, but ouch), and the comics seem to be implying some worrying shit coming down the pipe for my boi, so I don't like shit happening from both ends. I DON'T HAVE THE CAPACITY TO HANDLE IT, Y'ALL!!

I feel like we're going to restart the clock next ep, but I DON'T KNOW HOW WE'RE GONNA DO THAT. The Loom (or timeline, I'm gonna get to this thought in a post tomorrow) exploded without any time for the main six to turn back the clock.

I haven't talked about it much on here, because I don't want to address a rumor and I don't want to believe it, but I have been dreading episode 5 since ep 1 because of Mobius and the Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Spoiler. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm very suspicious of this rumor and also a little superstitious of looking at it head-on because I don't want it to be real, so unfortunately you're gonna have to go into the lokius tag yourself to see if you can find it. It might also be in the Mobius tag. There is ONE good-ish possibility for this possible spoiler if it's legit, and it would be that it might prove one of my theories (plus maybe something else if they do it justice, but I don't have too much confidence they will), but either way it kind of upsets lokius and I'm not thrilled by that. I have a theory that's coming tomorrow that could have this happen while still giving us lokius endgame, but given how much time is left in the season I'm not very confident so I'm just gonna sit here for the next few days and pray it was a troll.

Also: "oh no" is a code phrase I've started with my friends that has made its way into my personal reaction notes, and now congrats, you've been (unwillingly) witnesses to it now, too. It means "I am starting to ship this and I don't want to-slash-I know I shouldn't, but I am." And (yike) if you recall this showed up on the reaction about Sylvie jumping into the lokius bickering. I'M NOT SAYING that I ship sylkius. I'M NOT SAYING that I'm GOING TO ship sylkius. I'm just saying I had THOUGHTS when she did that and I didn't love the thoughts I had. I think episode 4 of season one was when I started shipping lokius, though, so...fuck. (It should be noted that 90% of the time I go "oh no" just in general, though, I forget about it pretty quickly afterwards, so statistically it's unlikely.)

Maybe dialogue? I think it's just a part that I need to practice more so that I personally feel more confident in my ability to write it

Miles understanding the feeling would try to be friendly to her. Tiana would be turned off by it at first because of how awkward Miles is.

Miles doesn't know Tiana is Starling. Tiana doesn't know Miles is Spider-Man.

When Tiana is starling she would steal from high-end jewelry stores to help with her mother's medical treatment.

I have good media literacy and I'm strongly against censorship. And no, censorship is not something 'only chronically online people care about'. I don't have a DNI. They're a naive control fantasy that assumes everyone is actually who they say they are and will respect your wishes. Vague DNIs with 'etc' and 'basic DNI criteria' are even worse, because idek what they mean. I chose not to make my blog password protected, and I can live with what that means. If I see someone with a stinky personality, I block them. I expect y'all to do the same if you see someone you don't like, it ain't my responsibility to curate your space for you. And if you're interacting with me despite having me in your DNI, I'd ask you, if you're too lazy to check every blog you interact with to confirm they're not on your DNI, how can you expect other people to?

One last thing:

Obviously I can't control what people do, but I instantly block anyone who claims they have DID. Just a heads up, peeps. I've been through enough with my former friend's malingering to care for one second about validating mistakes and attention-seeking behaviour someone won't get help for, because there's maybe a handful of people who actually have this disorder, and I refuse to risk getting involved with more people like my friend. It's obvious when you're faking, or just convincing yourself you have DID, when the symptoms don't line up with the MOST BASIC ways the disorder works. I'll say this once: get off tiktok and twitter, you were given bad information further up the line by someone equally mistaken. You gotta figure out the real source of your problems, and it's almost guaranteed to not be DID, even if you have trauma! I'm sorry your needs aren't being met, but you can't get it like this, you convinced yourself you have something you don't, this is literally what's happening with you. And it's delaying whatever diagnosis you actually need. Professionals aren't always right, believe me I know lmao, but sometimes they are. You gotta learn how to think critically, instead of relying on tiktoks and parasocial groups that just confirm your biases over and over again. Get out of those echo chambers, it's insanely unhealthy and it's seriously gonna screw you up.
