Hi, I was wondering if I could ask you questions about being an x ray tech? I seen you in the tag and was wondering if you liked your job? I’ve been looking into going to school for x ray and was wondering if you like it
Hi! Happy to answer any questions you have. Yes, I do love being an xray tech. It’s been very eye opening but so much fun too. I’m happy I chose to go into this field. I work at a big city hospital so we see a lot of diverse cases. School was mentally exhausting I will say that, you have to make sure you have the family support because once clinical start you will be busy.
I know different countries/ states have different schooling requirements but here in Illinois I did 2 years for X-ray with an associates degree. Plus the licensing exam.
Honestly if you want to work in healthcare, aren’t easily grossed out and can take criticism (plus being yelled at by drunk patients) you got this. It’s definitely an experience!
I’ve been up in surgery lately and that’s even a whole different thing with X-ray. But just as exciting. 🤗

Hi, do you like being a rad tech?
i meannnn,
it has its pros and cons. i only do mammography now, and its an okay job, i hate my current assignment because i do travel tech but my job itself i dont mind. helping being apart of detecting breast cancer i feel is a good cause to work for especially at the rate its increasing in many women now of all ages.
general xray was okay, for me i preferred outpatient settings because hospital xray wasnt for me. i didn't care for the "excitement" and the hospital i did my clinicals at gave me more anxiety than i had when i started lmao most techs were mean to students. general xray does a number on your body though, because you deal with screaming kids, extremely overweight patients, and near death patients. and YOU have to do what you need to do to get images accurate enough for a reading, figuring out techniques. so it can be a bitch but some people love it.
i think the degree itself for medical imaging is great because then you can choose what you feel you'd wanna specialize in. there's a lot of things to choose from, learn or change as you go along. like you don't have to feel stuck on just one modaility if you didnt want to be, i like the flexibility of it, or do more than one.
only thing i miss about general xray is doing cervical spines 🫠 cause no one liked those much but mine would always be perfect lol proud nerd moment lmfao

Can An X-ray Scan Reveal The Presence Of A Foreign Object In The Abdominal Region Of An Individual?
When it comes to diagnosing and detecting abnormalities within the human body, medical imaging techniques have revolutionized the field of medicine. X-ray scans have long been a fundamental tool for examining bones, organs, and tissues.
But can an X-ray scan effectively reveal the presence of a foreign object in the abdominal region of an individual?
In this article, we will explore the capabilities and limitations of X-ray scans in detecting foreign bodies within the abdomen.
Prior to proceeding with this article, would you like to learn about one of the leading diagnostic centers in Australia? In the event of an emergency, such as your child swallowing a foreign object, their team of experts is readily available to provide reliable services.
Now, continue reading the blog.
Understanding X-ray Imaging
X-ray imaging works on the principle that different structures within the body absorb X-rays to varying degrees.
Dense structures such as bones appear white on the X-ray image as they absorb more radiation, while soft tissues and organs appear in shades of gray. Foreign objects, depending on their composition and size, can also be detected using this technique.
Foreign Objects In The Abdomen
Foreign objects can inadvertently find their way into the abdominal region through various means, such as ingestion, trauma, or surgical procedures.
Common examples include swallowed objects, retained surgical instruments, or accidentally introduced items.
The presence of a foreign object can lead to a range of symptoms, including pain, discomfort, infection, and potential damage to organs.
X-ray Scans And Foreign Object Detection
In general, X-ray scans are well-suited for identifying certain types of foreign objects in the abdominal region.
Metallic objects, such as coins, surgical clips, or jewellery, are easily distinguishable on X-ray images due to their high density and strong absorption of X-rays. This makes them appear as bright white spots on the image, standing out from the surrounding tissues.
However, not all foreign objects are easily detectable using X-rays. Non-metallic objects, such as certain plastics or organic materials, may not be visible on standard X-ray scans due to their low density and limited X-ray absorption.
In these cases, alternative imaging techniques such as ultrasound or computed tomography (CT) scans may be more effective in identifying the presence of a foreign body.
Limitations And Challenges
While X-ray scans are valuable diagnostic tools, they have certain limitations when it comes to detecting foreign bodies in the abdominal region. Some challenges include:
Size And Composition: Small or thin foreign objects may not be clearly visible on X-ray images, especially if they have a similar density to surrounding tissues.
Overlapping Structures: The complex anatomy of the abdomen, with multiple organs and tissues overlapping, can sometimes make it difficult to identify a foreign object accurately.
Position And Orientation: The positioning and orientation of the foreign object in relation to the X-ray beam can impact its detectability. Objects positioned obliquely or parallel to the X-ray beam may be more challenging to identify.
Imaging Artifacts: X-ray images can sometimes produce artifacts that obscure or mimic foreign bodies, leading to potential misinterpretation.
Radiation Exposure: Although X-ray scans involve minimal radiation exposure, repeated or unnecessary imaging should be avoided, especially for pregnant women or young children.
Additional Imaging Techniques
When X-ray scans do not provide definitive results or fail to detect a suspected foreign body, other imaging modalities may be employed.
Ultrasound, which uses sound waves to produce images, is effective in detecting certain types of foreign bodies, especially those made of non-metallic materials. CT scans, which provide cross-sectional images of the abdomen, are also commonly utilized to pinpoint the location and nature of foreign objects.
Conclusion
In summary, X-ray scans can be useful in revealing the presence of certain foreign objects in the abdominal region. Metallic objects are typically easily detected due to their high density and strong X-ray absorption.
However, non-metallic objects may require additional imaging techniques for accurate identification. It's important to consider the limitations and challenges associated with X-ray scans when assessing the presence of foreign bodies in the abdomen.
Alternative imaging modalities such as ultrasound and CT scans can provide valuable information in cases where X-rays are inconclusive.
Ultimately, the choice of imaging technique depends on the suspected nature and composition of the foreign object, as well as the individual patient's specific circumstances.
It is advisable to seek guidance from a qualified healthcare professional to obtain precise diagnosis and suitable treatment options.
