Obligatory I'm not a doctor disclaimer, however I am unfortunately acquainted with spinal surgery so here are my 5 cents on the topic. The X-ray looks like a lumbar (lower back) fusion and while it is quite an extensive one, it isn't true that it could only be the result of scoliosis or a bad injury; it is done to prevent motion that causes pain, which can occur for a lot of reasons including injury, but also simply aging as that can cause people to develop arthritis, disk degeneration and so on. The recovery time also isn't as drastic as some might assume, the hospital stay is often minimal, light exercise like walking is encouraged within weeks, and rehabilitation starts at around 2 months. Obviously, scarring would be the major giveaway here but at the same time, there are less invasive ways of performing the surgery nowadays that leave a couple of smaller incisions rather than one long scar.

I am not arguing that the X-ray is definitely Richard, and as a matter of fact I very much hope it isn't, but at the same time I wanted to point out that it could *theoretically* be feasible for it to be him. The Pandemic break from touring was long enough for something like this to heal and I don't believe we have seen his back post-Pandemic.

Lumbar fusion can also cause loss of flexibility or stiffness of the lower back, and lower back pain is often lessened by a lightly forward leaning posture, both of which are things visible in how he moves.

Once again, I am not trying to armchair diagnose anyone, more so just "playing devil's advocate" in terms of whether or not it would be feasible for him to have had a surgery like this without people knowing. I hope that everyone's right and it is not in fact him, I quite like the theory about it being a metaphor for being held together. But at the same time, I wanted to provide an alternate perspective based on some personal experience with this type of issue.

I think my lizard is going to die :(

Hey guys, my pet lizard is pretty sick, and I cannot afford to take her to a vet because my dog has also recently been sick and all of my money has gone to his vet bills. My dog is fine for right now, but the lizard is not.

She is open mouth breathing (really bad sign), has been refusing food, and thus has lost weight. I suspect she has a respiratory infection. If I were to be able to take her to a vet, I believe they would prescribe her Baytril (antibiotic to fight the infection) and Critical Care to increase her weight, and maybe also something special to soak her in rather than just warm water, just to help keep her hydrated as she is also looking dehydrated. With all of this, I imagine I would be looking at a bill of around $150-$200, or maybe even a little bit more, which i simply do not have right now, especially since I cannot work for the next 4 weeks.

I really don't want to lose her. So I am asking for money to take her to a vet. If I can raise at least $150-$175, I can find a way to cover the rest if it ends up being a bit more than that.

In the meantime, my plan for her care is twice daily soaks in warm water to keep her hydrated, keeping her in a smaller quarantine tank so I can easily monitor her health as right now she is in a larger one with a mate. She might be eating, but i can't really tell since the other one may be the one getting the food, but I've just moved her to the smaller tank, so I will try to give her some food. If she doesn't eat over the weekend, I have some liquid meal that I can syringe feed to her, but she hates being handled like that. But keeping her fed and hydrated is really all I can do to help make her more comfortable while she tries to fight the infection. There is nothing I can do for her respiratory infection without medical treatment. If any reptile owners out there have any advice for me, i'd appreciate it.

Uh hey so I have the same range of motion vis a vis back-of-skull-touches-spine as the example pics you posted (Katherine Jenkins's xrays). But I don't really have like,,, pain or joint problems. Is this amount of bendy cause for concern??? Or is it normal for some if there's no accompanying pain? Obvs tumblr is not substitute for Dr, but I figure I should at least check I'm not misunderstanding before I make a whole appointment about it.

You’re asking the person who was casually dislocating their shoulder to sleep on the empty socket for 30+ years so I’m really not the best person to ask.

Generally speaking if it’s not causing you issues and you don’t have any other symptoms, it’s probably more than likely fine and you’re just in a higher range of motion.

It’s an issue for someone like me because when we drive over potholes, my neck can’t support itself, it flexes abnormally and the nerves all get crunched to Hell by my cervical vertebrae and I get to see God for a moment until my soul comes back into my body.
