Jesse nodded, a sharp sort of amusement in the quirk of his lips. Almost a smile, but not quite. It was never more obvious than when they were together just how alike the dean and his father were, and he had to wonder if his and Mari's lives mirrored each other's, even a little bit, the way their fathers seemed to mirror each other.

He didn't want to ask, though. What he wanted most was a little something to take the edge off and he knew the longer he stood there watching them, the stronger that need would become. And to give into it in the face of his father was to admit defeat and he'd already sworn to himself that he would not be doing that.

"I'm gonna go take a walk," Jesse said, tearing his gaze away from them to settle on Mari. "Looks like they're up each other's dick holes right now if you want to make a break for it, too."
