The prompt given was anything Xieyin (platonic or romantic)! I was really excited to work on this prompt, they make an incredibly cute ship imo ☺️

thinking about xie lian and yin yu again and how much they have in common and how well they understand each other and how xie lian was the one by yin yu's side as yin yu died and hugged and comforted him in his last moments

wanting to be perfect and virtuous but failing to live up to their own idealized high expectations of themselves and others' expectations of them. falling from grace. losing everything from their old lives. becoming a burnt-out, faded, even depressed version of their former glorious selves. almost giving in to resentment and bitterness in their lowest points and carrying that guilt and shame forever. they have so much in common. they get each other.

since yy and hc both have braids, i decided that xl would have a lil braid on his left side going into his bun (mirror of hc) and hx sometimes braids his hair down the side like yy :]

hx is the best cook, hc is second best, yy is passable, and xl is [CENSORED]

ppl see hx as like kind of scary and serious but i think he'd be kind of playful w all three of them :) he likes fighting w/ hc (says he needs to humble him), riling up yy (because he's just so chill so often and he thinks he looks cute when he's a little mad), and trying to make xl laugh so hard he either cries or falls over or falls off whatever he's sitting/laying on

xl is so good at reminding everyone to take care of themselves and they're getting him to do the same for himself more and more :D

hx is clingy like a cat in the morning, and xl can carry him in one arm while he does his usual morning routine

yy's a super good singer and any compliments abt it make him blush (he still likes singing/humming when he does stuff around the house)

hc is kinda a neat freak and will keep things very polished and clean in their house

oh yeah they share a house

they also share paradise manor (mainly yy and hc)

and puqi shrine (mainly hc and xl)

and also visit bw territory (mostly hx and yy)

xl and yy both wake up early and they spend some time in the mornings hanging out! xl makes tea and yy will make them a quick lil snack and they sit together and chat or just chill in silence

during that time, hc moves over to cuddle hx until he gets up, then hx goes and searches for xl lmao

hx is the tallest, so forehead kisses to everyone! affectionately (but a little condescendingly to hc just to make him mad /t)

xl fights people, anybody, who ever say bad things abt his bfs (they all think thats unbelievably hot)

im gonna keep making more when i think of more because i love these guys so frickin much.

i love making moon quartet hcs cuz im catering to a tiny specific group of silly guys who are jus like me fr and i love that <3 so hiiii moon quartet shippers ily

xl is the only one who calls hc “san lang”, the other two call him “fafa/huahua” and sometimes “chengzhu” in a friendly lil way, hx also calls him “xiao hua” for “little flower” (hc finds it kinda sweet)

they all call yy “xiao yue” for “little moon”,

hx is called “xuanxuan” :> yy also calls him “baobei”! xl does too sometimes

hc calls xl “gege” and the other two mostly call him “lianlian” or “a-lian” and all three refer to him as “dianxia” occasionally <3

hx likes being in the middle when they sleep together. hc on one side, yy/xl on the other, and then whoever’s left just curls up on top of him like a damn cat. he loves it sm <3

when yy is burnt out, he goes up to whoever he can find and just buries his face in the side of their neck/their chest and they just hug him back until he feels better

xl has moments of just total silence. like he’s used to not talking a lot after years of being more or less entirely alone, so he goes quiet and just listens to everyone else and none of them mind

hc paints nails so amazingly. it is so neat and perfect. yy loves getting his nails painted and also loves matching w hx esp

in the summer, xl overheats while all of his ghostie boyfriends are chillin, so he always seeks them out to cuddle

yy still technically works for hc, but he doesn’t do nearly as much as he used to and when he goes on missions, one of the other three always goes w/ him!

hx takes afternoon naps (YES HE IS A CAT TO ME) and yy or hc usually join him

hc and yy are both kind of insomniacs (ghost city’s eternal night smth smth) so they spend a lot of time together late at night, the same way xl and yy spend a lot of time together early in the morning

hc picks and grows flowers w/ different meanings for all of them!

xl’s is the white carnation (good luck/sometimes means “pure love”)

yy’s is morning glory (affection/love/beautiful dawn (<- which i took as a good new beginning :3))

hx’s is bluebells (gratitude and everlasting love)
